00:00:01still occupying lebanese territory, Beirot is being asked to negotiate
00:00:04while it sovereignty remains under attack. to discuss that in more
00:00:08detail, we've been joined by Barya Ahmar, she is a leading journalist and journalist from
00:00:12Lebanon. Baria, thank you very much to have journalists. Two Israel
00:00:16of soldiers Baria were killed by an explosive device while operating inside of Lebanon, but even
00:00:20Israel has not established who planted it. How can Israel
00:00:24use an unclear incident to justify another wave of deadly
00:00:28attacks on Lebanese towns? Is... has bombed, mansouri,
00:00:32bojal shamali, other areas, killing and wounding civilians and forcing
00:00:36families to flee. does this show that israel is treating collective
00:00:39punishment as legitimate response?
00:00:43well, thank you for having me, responsibility
00:00:47of must be established before any military response is justified.
00:00:51this is basic rule, if no one knows, yet planted
00:00:55those explosive device, using that
00:00:58a incident to justify l scale strikes on
00:01:01of lebanese towns raises serial legal and moral
00:01:04questions, the bombing resulting in civilian casualties and
00:01:08renewed displacement, as you said, creates the perception
00:01:12that entire communities are paying the price for acts whose
00:01:15perpetrators have not been yet identified,
00:01:19international humanitarian law requires
00:01:22of distinction, proportionality and military necessity, any
00:01:26response that harms civilians, instead of
00:01:29of targeting a specific military objective is viewed as collective
00:01:33punishment,
00:01:34absolutely also like to add
00:01:38to that, human rights watch says that Israel deliberately
00:01:42attacked journalist Amal Khalil as well as other journalists such as Zenab
00:01:45Faraj despite knowing that they were civilians and then blocked
00:01:49rescuers from reaching them. now as a Lebanese
00:01:52journalist, do you believe that Israel is trying to silence those
00:01:56who are documenting its actions just like these journalists and so many
00:02:00others that that have also been killed in Palestine to say the
00:02:03least. Let's be clear about this: journalists are
00:02:07civilians protected under international humanitarian
00:02:11law. Whenever credible organizations
00:02:14document attacks against clearly identifiable
00:02:18journalists, those allegations require independent,
00:02:22transparent investigations and accountability. From lebanese
00:02:26perspective, attacks on journalists have.
00:02:30a broader impact because they reduce the words
00:02:33ability to witness events on the ground, whether
00:02:37international or not, the effect is to weaken
00:02:40independent reporting a time when facts matter
00:02:44most, right, the international community must move
00:02:48beyond expressions of concern, it's it should
00:02:51insist on full compliance with international,
00:02:55international humanitarian law, support independent
00:02:58investigations into alleged violations and press for the
00:03:02implementation of existing agreements and also work
00:03:06to ensure the protection of
00:03:08of civilians while secur securing a complete and to
00:03:12hostilities and the Israeli withdrawal from lebanese
00:03:16territory. this is what the international community needs to be
00:03:20doing. barya, more than
00:03:234,300 people have been killed in Lebanon as we speak, hundreds of thousands have
00:03:27been displaced and those who return also
00:03:30of you of
00:03:31know a are of not being given
00:03:32their due places or the places
00:03:34that they had left when they were when they got displaced anyways peace talks
00:03:38by are continuing in Rome yet Israel still occupies lebanese
00:03:42territory and says it will not withdraw draw further until Hisbollah
00:03:45disarms is Lebanon effectively being asked to surrender its
00:03:49main bargaining position before Israels its own
00:03:53commitments. Let's be clear about this first things
00:03:57first. Hallah is not lebon's main
00:04:00bargaining position, but international law
00:04:04instead, why? because since Israel is withdrawal
00:04:07from most of southern Lebanon in the year 2000, hazballah has
00:04:11evolved from resistance movement against
00:04:15occupation into
00:04:16a regional armed actor closely aligned with
00:04:20Iran and for many years with the Assad regime.
00:04:24As
00:04:24a result,
00:04:25of many Lebineses no longer see it as see its weapons as
00:04:30serving a
00:04:31of purely national objective,
00:04:34the this is Lebanon's central
00:04:36of dilemma today, the Lebanese government is leading the
00:04:39negotiations, while Tehran through
00:04:42Hisballah, determines the military confrontation, this
00:04:46is
00:04:46a dilemma, but Lebanon's official
00:04:49position is that sovereignty
00:04:52in cannot be conditional and that international
00:04:55agreements impose obligations on both
00:04:58sides, the only sustainable path is
00:05:01simultaneous implementation, Israel must withdraw from
00:05:05lebanese territory, while the Lebanese State extends
00:05:09its exclusive authority over all its
00:05:13territory in in line with the constitution, labanese
00:05:16constitution and with the international
00:05:19commitments. peace cannot be achieved through
00:05:23unilateral conditions, it requires
00:05:27reciprocal implementations and mutual
00:05:30compliance, and that is not happening until
00:05:33today. you talk of international commitments, it's interesting
00:05:37that you talk about that, because we've seen what is happening in Palestine,
00:05:41we've seen what is happening in Lebanon, we've seen a sease fire happen in
00:05:45both the areas and yet Israel flants that cease fire
00:05:49and does whatever it wants to, where are the international
00:05:51commitments? Yes, yes,
00:05:55well, from lebanese perspective, this is
00:05:58fundamentally a sovereignty
00:06:01issue, no state has the right, the legal
00:06:04right to unilaterally define
00:06:08borders, this is sovereign issue, it's a real
00:06:11problem. All right, I
00:06:15lost you, I couldn't the question, I couldn't hear the question, I'm sorry, I'll
00:06:19repeat the question bar was saying you were talking of international
00:06:22commitments, there have been international commitments, there
00:06:26have been seizfires in both Lebanon and Palestine, yet
00:06:29Israel has flouted those very cease fires and continues to
00:06:33kill, name, displaced people, both in Palestine and in
00:06:37Lebanon, but from a Lebanese perspective, how important is the
00:06:40implementation these. international
00:06:43commitments, very very important from lebanese
00:06:46perspective, it's fundamentally sovereignty
00:06:49issue,
00:06:51so issue of commitment, mostly because Israel is
00:06:54keeping the the red, the yellow area
00:06:57there, because no state has the legal right to to
00:07:01redefine another state's border or impos security arrangements. the
00:07:05lebanese army is the legitimate national institution
00:07:09responsible for exercising state authority. throughout
00:07:13Lebanon if if this really says that the
00:07:16objective is lasting stability to keep
00:07:19the to keep that buffer zone then strengthening
00:07:23the lebanese and strengthening lebanese
00:07:27state authority not weakening or bypassing the only
00:07:31sustainable solution is durable
00:07:33security. durable security will come through
00:07:37respect for international law for implementation of agreed
00:07:41commitments and recognitions of Lebanon sovereignty, not
00:07:45through the indefinite expansion of military realities
00:07:49on the ground, and this is what Israel has been doing,
00:07:52exactly, and that is why I'm saying global security,
00:07:55implementation of international norms, I mean I don't see that
00:07:59happening in Palestine, I don't see, I see that to some extent
00:08:03happening in Lebanon, but let's hope for the best. Last question Barya,
00:08:07Israel claims a 10 kilometer security zone inside of Lebanon, as you
00:08:10have also talked about
00:08:12and even called a lebanese army checkpoint of
00:08:14violation. what does this tell us about Israel's respect
00:08:18for lebanese sovereignty and the authority the lebanese state?
00:08:22doesn't the lebanese state have an authority whatsoever? why is israel flouting
00:08:26it? it is, it
00:08:29is affecting, it's against lebanese
00:08:32sovereignty. they don't have the right, israelis do not have
00:08:36the right to redefine lebanon's borders, they
00:08:40don't have the legal light right and "and they
00:08:43claim that this is for sustainable peace
00:08:47and and stability, but this is not, this is sovereign
00:08:50sovereinity issue and Israelis have no right to
00:08:54redefine and decide that this is yellow zone and
00:08:58Israel, the Lebanese army has have no rights, doesn't have the
00:09:02right to implement to be there in that in
00:09:06that yellow zone, so it is
00:09:09sovereinity issue and it's it" does not
00:09:13working for strengthening the state of Lebanon, this
00:09:17is what they say, they want the state to be stronger to
00:09:21to disarm hizballah, this the international community is
00:09:25not giving the Lebanese army the
00:09:28opportunity to to to rule on on the
00:09:31ground and to disarm hizballah as they
00:09:34use the words, so it's a very
00:09:38dilemmation, so that's what I was saying that was needs.
00:09:42"that is what needs to be implemented, that is what needs to be pushed
00:09:46into Israel's
00:09:48you know kitty that this is what you need to do and this is how you need to you
00:09:51know adhere to all the laws that have
00:09:55been mean put forward as far as the situation in 11 is
00:09:59concern. thank you very much barri ahmed to have journalist and to have given us the opportunity
00:10:03to discuss this issue a bit more detail in the current context.
00:10:07thank you, let's now take you to South
00:10:10Asia.
00:10:15Bangladesh India relations have been strained since Sheikh Hasina fled to New Delhi
00:10:19in 2024. Disputes over her extradition, border incidents, trade
00:10:23restrictions and India's tires. with the awami league continued throughout the pre-election
00:10:27period, now Hasina's Delhi address has reopened old wounds
00:10:31and threatens the fragile attempt to recess relations. To discuss
00:10:35that in more detail, we have been joined all the way from Dhaka by
00:10:39Mr. Alauddin Mohammed, he is a joint member secretary the
00:10:42NCP. Alauddin Mohammad, thank you very much to have joined us.
00:10:45Relations with India had been deteriorating since Hasena fled there in
00:10:49August of 2024, almost two years, two years now, I think more or
00:10:53less, long before Bangladesh. election happened, has her latest
00:10:57address destroyed the limited progress that was made since the new government took
00:11:01office? thank you
00:11:05very much, yesterday was the
00:11:08day we celebrated the victory of its
00:11:12people and the outside former
00:11:16prime minister shekhasina on the same day held
00:11:20a conf press conference in New
00:11:23Delhi Bangladesh
00:11:26previously talk to the high commissioner in Dhaka
00:11:30to stop that and we did not see
00:11:33any initiative from
00:11:36India's government side to stop that press
00:11:40conference which means that India is
00:11:43not correcting its measure
00:11:47or you
00:11:47know that its diplomacy towards Bangladesh and it wants the
00:11:51old hegemonic relationship through. its
00:11:55own loyal awami league in Bangladesh
00:11:59and in that context we can say that the
00:12:02relationship between Bangladesh and India from
00:12:06Bangladesh side though there are good gesture and
00:12:10we are repeatedly appealing them or
00:12:13requesting them to extradit the the criminal
00:12:17now flat in India to
00:12:20you know that according to
00:12:22the bilateral.
00:12:25act, but India seems that not that interested to
00:12:29rebuild the relation with the people of Bangladesh and the state of
00:12:33Bangladesh, instead it has chosen to keep
00:12:36the same hegemonic relationship with awami
00:12:40league. now Alauddin, I'd like to also understand Sheikh
00:12:44Hasina in his address says that she is going to return in December to
00:12:47Dhaka, at the same time she has also asked that the ban on
00:12:51the awami league be lifted. We've also seen the r happened
00:12:55at Shakib Al Hassan's home where protesters came and of
00:12:59course what happened because of course of his association
00:13:03with the awami league as well. In your point of view, I'd like to understand
00:13:07Alauddin, how can Bangladesh protect its sovereinity and
00:13:11political stability without allowing anger to
00:13:15turn into violence? I'm just referring to the incident that happened at Shakibal
00:13:18Hassan's residence.
00:13:21Well, Mr. Sakibal. is a
00:13:25well known cricketer to the outer world, but
00:13:29inside Bangladesh, he is an awy league
00:13:32leader and he was an MP in the
00:13:36last houseted parliament where the election was
00:13:40highly rigged and election took place without the major
00:13:43oppositions and Sakib al Hassan and
00:13:47his family members including his father is
00:13:50convicted criminal in their constituency
00:13:54and are accused of being murdered
00:13:57several activist in the home city of Sakib Al
00:14:01Hassan when he appeared in New
00:14:05Delhi's press conference along with Shekhasena and her
00:14:09family members i mean from
00:14:12Bangladeshi activist side so the
00:14:15anger to again increased against
00:14:19Sakib al Hassan and at night we saw that they
00:14:23burn their home and then that people rus
00:14:27to his properties and others to try to look that and and so
00:14:31on, so if when we are talking
00:14:34about the reconciliation and lifting the
00:14:37ban of awami league and bring Hasina back to
00:14:41Bangladesh, we must remember that after the
00:14:45pricing immediately we asked for reconciliation,
00:14:49but before reconciliation one must
00:14:52acknowledge the missed. done by
00:14:55them towards their own people, but unfortunately awami
00:14:59league still thinks that there is no apprising
00:15:03in, there was no apprising in Bangladesh, it was just
00:15:07foreign planned regime change
00:15:10operation, which is actually not, and by
00:15:14the United Nations Office for Human Rights
00:15:17Report, they mentioned that more than 1400
00:15:21activists were killed during this price.
00:15:25by the government forces and the awami league and its
00:15:29associated forces, but and this is
00:15:33well established towards our foreign stakeholders, but
00:15:37only for India and I leak people seems
00:15:40it is still a conspiracy against them, so
00:15:44before reconciliation they must understand that
00:15:48what they did and such types of hanious crime
00:15:52inside any democratic country must not be tolerated
00:15:56tolerated and unless corrected the must not be
00:15:59allowed to do the same politics again, it's their own people,
00:16:03same aggression against it their own people, so regarding the...
00:16:07sovereinity of Bangladesh, as we all saw
00:16:11that after all those bloodshed
00:16:14when the former prime minister decided to leave the
00:16:18country, flee the country, then her
00:16:22own loyal own, you can
00:16:26say master India gave her shelter in their
00:16:29own state, they did not
00:16:33consider that they are blatantly interfering
00:16:36the... internal affairs the neighboring country and
00:16:40right now also that we feel that it's not only India,
00:16:44awami league as a party and league leaders is
00:16:48though they are citizen of Bangladesh, they are now serving the purpose
00:16:52of India and India is also
00:16:55like backing them, now we are
00:16:59really concerned that if awami league ever can be
00:17:03able to do politics in Bangladesh, how they will pay back?
00:17:07to their Indian, I mean that gave them
00:17:11shelter to their master, so that's the sovereignty
00:17:15issue for now in Bangladesh, and we feel that Bangladeshi people's
00:17:19resistance and Bangladeshi people are
00:17:22together to again resist, again
00:17:26fight the same fascism imposed by Hasida and her
00:17:29people in near future. All right, all alauddin, I'd like
00:17:33to understand Dhaka war India beforehand that allowing.
00:17:37to conduct political activity from New Delhi is going to damage bilateral ties,
00:17:41is India's claim that this was merely a private media event, a
00:17:45convincing explanation or is this attempt to avoid
00:17:48responsibility? many Bangladeshies believe that India supported
00:17:52Hasina for too long and tired its relationship with Bangladesh to the awami
00:17:56league. Does New Delhi still struggle to accept that Bangladesh
00:17:59politics have now fundamentally
00:18:01changed? I
00:18:04think they are not able to...
00:18:07understand the psychology of Bangladeshi people and
00:18:11the pricing by the middle class
00:18:14and the young population of Bangladesh,
00:18:18it not necessarily against India, but when
00:18:22they fought Haseina in the street, they also
00:18:25felt that behind Hasina Indian hegemonic and
00:18:29imperialistic vision was there behind Hasina, so
00:18:33they necessarily fought Indian Hagimony in the same
00:18:37struggle. so India must realize those
00:18:40seems they have not realized, but I believe that
00:18:44Indian civil society, Indian academics and
00:18:48scholars who visited Bangladesh after the uprising
00:18:52several times and now opened their
00:18:55opinion in Indian different outlets, they
00:18:59feel that the the politics in Bangladesh has been
00:19:03changed and India's policy in Bangladesh
00:19:07failed. and India must correct its policy, so
00:19:10yesterday's event was an order city
00:19:14from the Indian administration, they could stop that,
00:19:18even if it's a private meeting or if it's a public
00:19:21meeting, they know the consequence of that, and they must
00:19:25stop such types of activities in their own land which
00:19:28can somehow not give them the fruits,
00:19:32because Bangladeshi people are not now with the Shekhacina
00:19:36anymore. people had new election,
00:19:40they voted more than 70% people voted and
00:19:4370% people voted
00:19:45for credible reform process in
00:19:49Bangladesh which will promote the democracy also,
00:19:53so all together India should understand that now this
00:19:56government in Bangladesh is elected and Bangladeshi people
00:20:00elected, they are happy, though there are problems,
00:20:04there are no what is called uh satisfaction
00:20:08over the performance the government, but people understand this government is
00:20:12voted by the own own people which they
00:20:16they could not exercise in the last 15 years. three elections
00:20:20were somehow snatched from the Bangladeshi people and
00:20:23democracy shattered, democracy, democratic institutions also
00:20:27shattered by the same shekhasina and her people, so
00:20:30India must feel and establish
00:20:33relationship, we a bit short of time, I'd like one last question,
00:20:37but what answer if that's possible. Bangladesh has repeatedly sort
00:20:40Hasina's extradition under the bilateral treaty, yet India continues
00:20:44to say that the request is under legal review quote and court. Does this
00:20:48long delay suggests that? delhi is protecting a former li rather
00:20:52than respecting bangladesh's judicial process. i'd like a short
00:20:56answer if that's possible. i think it it doesn't need
00:21:00any explanation. since they are allowing her
00:21:03to interven in Bangladeshi politics by
00:21:07audio call and now audio conference, press
00:21:10conference. so the rev review review
00:21:14process or legal review process just first and
00:21:18just eye wash to the... international community and India
00:21:22must stop such double standard in in
00:21:26the name of diplomacy to its neighbor where they have to
00:21:30coexist all right alauddin mohammad thank you very
00:21:34much to have joined us ladies and gentlemen that was alauddin mohammad joint member secretary the
00:21:37NCP joining us from Dhaka of course giving the
00:21:41perspective from Dhaka as to where things might be moving and
00:21:45what the Bangladeshies think as far as Sheikh Hasina and recent address is
00:21:49concerned and
00:21:50of course India giving asylum to Sheikh Hasina and all that has
00:21:54ensuwed as as far as the relations between Dhaka and New
00:21:57Delhi are concerned this brings us
00:21:59to the end of today's beyond borders, it
00:22:00was an exciting show today and an interesting
00:22:04show lineup of shows this week as well and we promise you next week is
00:22:08going to be at the same part if not better. This is the last show the
00:22:12week so we'll see you inshallah on Monday with more stories, more perspectives
00:22:16and of course more important points for you to...
00:22:20understand and decipher, till then, allah hafis and have a great
00:22:23weekend.
00:22:44Hindutva forces have launched a state sponsored hate
00:22:47campaign against Muslims in India.
00:22:51Muslims are being attacked, humiliated and murdered under
00:22:55patternage of Modi regime. Indian authorities
00:22:59are demolishing Muslims houses, shops and
00:23:01mosks. Indiscriminate violence against Muslims
00:23:05has unmasked the so-called secular phase of
00:23:08India. World community must come forward
00:23:12to rescue Indian Muslims from the clutches of Hindutva
00:23:15terrorism.
00:23:25"Pakistan has done human work, it's been
00:23:28absolutely remarkable what Pakistan, what
00:23:32Islamabad has been able to bring about. Well, I think the
00:23:36countries that are mediating have to keep plugging away and trying to find a
00:23:40modus, solution. I think the first thing that has to
00:23:43happen is there has to be agreement on the straight of hormos,
00:23:47because that was the cause of this. war most
00:23:51important part is going to be dialogue and I think the Pakistan
00:23:55back door diplomacy uh Qatar also is
00:23:59essential India is not only destabilizing the region India
00:24:02has I think it's look at this ambition it was involved in
00:24:06terrorist acts in Canada the persecution of minorities in India has
00:24:10been very very long problem
00:24:14very systemic problem systematic persecution
00:24:17the Muslims there not only the Muslims but also the
00:24:21Christians on forces are police and devies and
00:24:25scouts rangers, they are doing the
00:24:27very
00:24:43best, hello and welcome to unfold, I am aggressor
00:24:47is on the Israel that is violating. the international rules
00:24:51and law, actually the crisis had started
00:24:55about two to three decades before the united states under
00:24:58the pressure of Israel wants to degrade the
00:25:02military capacity of Iran to control the
00:25:05straight of homo has to decide especially
00:25:09now that you don't have unified leadership what you
00:25:13have on the ground is a tripatriot
00:25:16coalition for Iran this
00:25:19is exactly. points uh, not to make things hard for the average person,
00:25:23but to retain some leverage in these negotiations on the parts the
00:25:26Iranians, the Iranian supreme leaderal khameini
00:25:30now finds himself pressured by both pro-government uh
00:25:34public clamoring for retribution, mrs witkof and
00:25:38kushner and others uh went with the
00:25:40template that they designed for
00:25:44gaza.
00:26:52proud moment for entire nation and especially for the
00:26:55Pakistan shooting community as an England fan i enjoy
00:26:59the PSL I enjoy the hundred and obviously the we have here in
00:27:03England, when Bangladesh declared the innings, declared their second
00:27:06innings, that the moment when whole Bangladesh celebrated
00:27:10it, from places like Jordan,
00:27:12Uzbekistan, from Iraq, Haiti, these
00:27:16countries who have made it for a long time was Pakistan and Jordan Debutts, like
00:27:20that's massive for for people from those countries, so
00:27:24when I came here first, there were there were talks about major
00:27:28league tournament like PSL starting in the United States and it took
00:27:32a year. and our junior players uh winning back to back three ITf junior
00:27:36titles and the doubles
00:27:40titles as well. plan was just to go for the Canadian Masters, it was my first
00:27:43tournament, masters tournament ever. i've been competing in the international
00:27:47circle for a long time and alhamdulillah by the grace of almighty have
00:27:51won many lores for Pakistan, pakistan international series, i've been

00:28:12No, we were not happy with him buying oil from
00:28:15Russia. If India doesn't buy oil, it makes it
00:28:19much easier, and they're not going to
00:28:20buy.
00:29:15Before the wistle glows, before the final bell, there is the
00:29:18conversation, it's a language understood by every
00:29:22stadium on every street corner, it's a moment, your
00:29:26heartbeat with million others, it's
00:29:30a roar of crowd, the silence of
00:29:32participation, it's a triampful cry of a
00:29:36champion, it's more than a game, it's a
00:29:40connection
