00:00:01I think it is a high time that this region
00:00:04must find an
00:00:06of independent architecture to bring peace and security in this
00:00:10region, from far from areas, the time has proved,
00:00:14it is
00:00:15of probably difficult, if not impossible, so
00:00:19let me emphasize that we
00:00:23will obviously, we must not be, you
00:00:26know, ignoring what's happening in the world,
00:00:30"the times are very challenging, the
00:00:33situations need full
00:00:35of attention of all the countries in the region, particularly our region, and we have
00:00:39seen the energy supply chain disruption, we have seen the
00:00:43prices, the common man
00:00:44of is suffering, again the government whatever could do for the two wheelers, three
00:00:48wheelers, subsidy,
00:00:50of remove all the taxes, give
00:00:51a refund through through tokens, almost 10 over 10
00:00:55million people are benefiting, so if you take
00:00:57of average size of family. five, so 50
00:01:01million individuals in Pakistan are
00:01:04benefiting. Ladies and
00:01:06gentlemen, let me also
00:01:10emphasize that account terrorism must not be used as a pretext to
00:01:14suppress as it said, the legitimate struggle, and despite our
00:01:18continuing sacrifices, let
00:01:19me make it very
00:01:23clear that there should be no doubt that our
00:01:27unflinching resolve to fight terrorism, will ever
00:01:31in get weakened as a nation, excuse me, our
00:01:35people, armed forces, police and intelligence services continue to
00:01:39confront this manness with extraordinary courage very
00:01:42frequently, almost on on daily
00:01:50the citizens deserve safety and our country
00:01:53deserve peace. excellences
00:01:57in gentlemen, pakistan believes in a peaceful neighborhood,
00:02:01We desire
00:02:02a region where trade flows from central Asian states to the
00:02:05Arabian sea, where roads, railway and energy
00:02:09links connect
00:02:11of our people and bring cross borders prosperity, but our
00:02:15pursuit of peace cannot come at the expense of our people
00:02:19of security. Good neighborlihood is two way
00:02:23obligation. It cannot mean
00:02:25of absorbing attack after attack in silence today.
00:02:30I say to the authorities in Kabul, please
00:02:34of honor your commitments, ensure that afan soil is not
00:02:37used against any other country, particularly
00:02:40Pakistan. Act against those who threaten your
00:02:44neighbors, take verifiable,
00:02:48of irreversible and concrete steps against terrorist eminating from your
00:02:51soil. This is not a new message, this is the same
00:02:55message I gave them in person during my visit to
00:02:59Kabul on. 19th of April
00:03:012025. I also call upon the international
00:03:05community to support Pakistan's continuing resolve to
00:03:09fight this threat. We have paid an enormous
00:03:14of price. Our efforts must be met with cooperation and a
00:03:17shared
00:03:19of determination to deny terrorists the
00:03:21in means and space to operate. Ladies and
00:03:24gentlemen, a peaceful
00:03:28of of prosperous future for all. of our people free
00:03:32from the schools of terrorism is within
00:03:35reach if states have the requisite political
00:03:38resolve, let
00:03:41me tell you
00:03:42of we will stand against terrorism to the last
00:03:46effort inshallah and we will stand for
00:03:49peace and we have demonstrated that
00:03:52a we can, we are and we will stand for peace, not only for
00:03:56pakistan but the entire region and may be beyond.
00:04:00we will do both to the ultimate
00:04:03of end, so I thank you for your patient hearing, I'm most grateful for
00:04:07inviting me for today's event, I have been very
00:04:11honest and frank to have expressed,
00:04:14you know that when you go to such events, you get
00:04:17a
00:04:18all also input up from your own institutions, but I
00:04:23a do most
00:04:27of of the time I just go extempore in order to express my honest sentiments, thank you very
00:04:29of much. Right, ladies and gentlemen, we were sharing live images from where
00:04:33the deputy prime minister and for minister Mr. Isaak was addressing the
00:04:36international conference on Pakistan's evolving counter terrorism
00:04:40landscape, TTP, cross border threat and regional security
00:04:43institute at the Institute of Strategic Studies,
00:04:46of Islamabad, he said in his remarks that terrorism is actually not a
00:04:50policy debate, it's a story of sacrifice and valor,
00:04:54he did mention how we have made sincere efforts, even if we had to sit with
00:04:58the Afghan Taliban regime, but fortunately Afghan Taliban
00:05:02regime or the Afghan soil is still used for such terrorism activities
00:05:06and is spreading globally, and speaking about India, he did mention
00:05:09that how Indian patronage of state using terrorist groups actually
00:05:13have larger repercussions just within Pakistan. He further paid
00:05:17tribute to the Prime Minister the Pakistan,
00:05:21the honorable Mr. Mohammad Shabaz Sharif and the CDF
00:05:24field marshall say and the entire armed forces and the law
00:05:28enforcing agencies where he did mention that life has to
00:05:32go in accordance of peace. In addition to this, just
00:05:35prior to that, it was the minister for information broadcasting Mr.
00:05:39Atatar who actually took to the stage and he did say, in his repark as
00:05:43the people of KPK and Pakistan actually stand in
00:05:46resolved and we are going to fight against terrorist till the last drop of
00:05:50our blood and life. Ladies and gentlemen, now I will be taking
00:05:54you towards where the there's an interview the federal
00:05:58minister for finance and revenues senator Mohammad
00:06:02Aurangzeb who is actually going to speak with Bloomberg TV
00:06:05in Bangkok and while we speak of it we do know for fact how the deputy
00:06:09prime minister himself Isagdar Sah has mentioned. that
00:06:12you now that when I was the finance minister, you have spoken about certain
00:06:16issues and now from here onwards, ladies and gentlemen, time now to
00:06:20listen to what the federal minister for finance has to
00:06:23say, is joining me now is
00:06:27Pakistani finance minister Mohammad orangzeb, great to have you with
00:06:31us minister, I just wonder if you could just tell us first off, I mean
00:06:35we've seen Pakistan quite successfully tapping global debt
00:06:38markets, but do you see this continuing given the backdrop of...
00:06:42higher global bond yiels, yes, so thank you, in the first
00:06:46instance, this is part of our medium term debt strategy,
00:06:50as we achieved macrostability, from my perspective is just basic
00:06:54hygiene, inflation in the right place, effect reserves in the
00:06:57right place, policy rate at the right place, so the first rate that we
00:07:01did was actually in April of this year, which was a private
00:07:05placement of 750 million dollars and then we access
00:07:09the panda bond market, which was correct.
00:07:12enhanced and
00:07:14you know it was long time coming from Pakistan because is the second largest
00:07:18second deepest capital market in the world and so it was very
00:07:22successful issue. do
00:07:23you think it continue being successful given higher global uses? yeah
00:07:27so so as you know about three weeks back we
00:07:30did a three billion dollar euro bond
00:07:34the overall appetite of that was actually the order book was twice of
00:07:38that and we were very pleased with the length and breath of course there were asian
00:07:42inv'. there were middle east investors, but bulk of it was sort of
00:07:45European
00:07:46and US investors and it's after heaters, after gap of four years that
00:07:50Pakistan access international capital markets. now going forward,
00:07:54we are not in a rush in this fiscal
00:07:57year, but as part of our medium term strategy, we have given mandates for
00:08:01Islamic sukups, we have given mandates for
00:08:05also for the first time dollar,
00:08:08dollar settled but rupee denominated bonds, lot
00:08:11of first inquiries coming through on that as well and
00:08:15then going forward we are going to issue RFPs for the
00:08:19remaining panda bond because NAFM approval is for billion dollars we printed
00:08:22250 and for the first time we are also going to
00:08:26see if we can go for tokenization
00:08:30of our existing euro bonds so now
00:08:34a rush does this mean this comes potentially next year or what sort of timeline are you
00:08:38looking at and how much for each these from our perspective
00:08:41it's going to be determined by pricing, tenor and
00:08:45market conditions,
00:08:48so the way I was sort of explaining to
00:08:52you bit earlier as well, that
00:08:55you know this year, it's not a question of that we
00:08:59absolutely need to cover our external financing gap, but over the
00:09:03next two to three years what we do want to do is to see if
00:09:07some of our short term external debt can be
00:09:10refinanced into longer teners, of maturities, so Pakistan
00:09:14is a country does not have to go into this roll over
00:09:17risk on on sort of short term debt, but quite
00:09:20frankly a, it is not is not
00:09:24helpful to us from the rating agencies perspective as well, they don't do
00:09:28not give us any credit for that, so we want to keep the overall
00:09:32quantum of our external debt which is close about 100
00:09:36million dollars, but think about it as mostly
00:09:40as replacement trades, as diversification
00:09:44and as elongating the maturity, I was just about to ask, so how
00:09:47effectively is this going to help Pakistan reduce the
00:09:51reliance on bilateral loans? well, we
00:09:54are extremely grateful to our bilateral
00:09:57partners who have helped us to thick and thin with IMF
00:10:01programs, with bilateral support, etc., but the way I look at
00:10:05it, we have to move towards sustainability and therefore road to
00:10:08market, and this is also in conjunction of... of
00:10:12where we are in terms of sovereign ratings, because we have just
00:10:16as I was saying earlier, we have had three rating upgrades since
00:10:20April of last year, so we have now got into a solid b, if we
00:10:24go back... 40 years, the best
00:10:26that the country is ever had is B plus, so if we
00:10:29all we are very committed to stay the trajectory, then if not
00:10:33during this fiscal year, early next fiscal year, we should get to B plus,
00:10:37but we are aiming slightly higher this time around to see how we
00:10:41break into the double v category as as a sovereign as a
00:10:44country, and therefore the debt sustainability and the external
00:10:48debt and with the right maturities is going to be very critical
00:10:52enabler to help us with the rating. agencies to break into
00:10:56WB. Amid this period though, you're still in need of financing, where
00:11:00else are you looking for, what is the latest on the US exchange
00:11:03stabilization facility is 10 billion dollars worth? where are
00:11:07discussions on that? yeah, with respect to the US, we are looking at in in
00:11:11the context of larger larger canvas, so the
00:11:14discussions that we are having that we move, you mentioned the
00:11:18bilateral partners, but overall are now thought process with the prime
00:11:22minister leading, the cabinet, the administration, to move from aid
00:11:25to trade and investment, so active discussions
00:11:29with USDR in terms of tariff discussions and getting
00:11:33to a framework agreement there with US Exim Bank,
00:11:37with DFC, to help support in
00:11:41trade, investment flows into Pakistan in terms of agriculture, in terms of
00:11:44it, minerals and mining, within that context, this
00:11:48stabilization facility, as you know well, I mean this is not loan, this is not a credit facility,
00:11:52this is liquidity support, and with or
00:11:56without it we will continue to move forward in terms of market
00:11:59access, so you have reached some form of agreement on that
00:12:03or still still active discussions across
00:12:07all areas, including this. is Washington attaching any
00:12:10conditions for the facilities? what are you hearing from them? no,
00:12:14I think with respect to our
00:12:18leadership discussion with
00:12:20the with the Trump administration, we are a very good place, you've
00:12:24had number of... team with secretary, last time was in
00:12:27Washington, had very constructive discussion with Secretary Bessent,
00:12:31so we very grateful for all the support that we are getting, it's moving in the right
00:12:35direction, and we are hopeful that this will help
00:12:39consolidate that trade investment flow from the US into Pakistan. What
00:12:43about when it comes to the bounce in the US dollar recently,
00:12:47how manageable is that for Pakistan, because we have been seeing in the past two years the
00:12:50rupee has been relatively stable, do you think that can continue?
00:12:54Yeah. "I think the rupee has been stable because
00:12:58in the context the overall macro stability, because this
00:13:02time the FX Reserves, you have to look at that,
00:13:06the couple of weeks back we touched 21.4 billion
00:13:09dollars, which is the highest ever in the history
00:13:13the country, and this is now about three months of import
00:13:17cover, which is a good international benchmark, and you put it in the context of
00:13:21couple of three years back when we were down to two weeks of import."
00:13:25so we have come a long way from that perspective, number one, number
00:13:28two, these reserves are not built on debt
00:13:32stock, this is the central bank actually doing
00:13:36market interventions, so it's not only the quantum the
00:13:40effects reserve, but also the quality of fx reserve which is helping the
00:13:44stability the currency, and while as you can
00:13:48appreciate the effects and the policy rate is very much
00:13:51the the the perview the central bank, but all i
00:13:55can say is that we expect the currency to remain stable as we
00:13:59move forward. do you see there being a risk to growth? we've
00:14:03already been seeing previously the IMFrading the outlook for this year
00:14:07because the vulnerabilities from the energy shock. how on target are you? what is
00:14:11the target for this year? yeah, so so the GDP growth once again
00:14:15just like the FX situation, the three and a half years back,
00:14:18the the economy actually contracted, we were minus
00:14:22.3% on GDP growth, the... before was
00:14:252.6%, last fiscaly is 3.7%. this
00:14:29year we are quite sanguin that we will be north of
00:14:334%. so having said that,
00:14:37the lingering conflict, we are keeping very close eye on
00:14:40that between the governor and myself, both
00:14:43from inflation perspective and the GDP growth perspective as
00:14:47well, because even in the last fiscal
00:14:50year a certain percentage of GDP growth was shaved off because
00:14:54the... the conflict in the middle east, so we are all
00:14:58hopeful that
00:15:00you know this situation will resolve itself, the target for this year is north of
00:15:044%. okay, what about tax revenues? do you see that being on
00:15:08target as well? might you have to announce perhaps additional
00:15:12measures if the conflict roils on? well, as
00:15:16you know, on the 7th of
00:15:18October, the we are in IMF
00:15:22program, so the the mission... was in
00:15:25Pakistan, they reviewed our quantitative benchmarks, structural benchmarks, part
00:15:29of those quantitative benchmarks are how do they see the revenue
00:15:32profile, all I can say is the first quarter of this
00:15:36fiscal year, is June, July till September, we have met
00:15:40our revenue targets in terms of tax revenues, we are now in
00:15:44double digits in terms of tax to GDP, so I would say at this point in
00:15:48time, so far so good, so far so good for oil stocks as well into the
00:15:52end the year, how is Pakistan looking at the
00:15:56energy shortfall? Yeah, I think that's a that's a very good
00:16:00question in the context of what we are dealing with at this point in time, I would
00:16:04say the first order has...
00:16:07negotiated very well since March
00:16:11this year when this conflict started in terms of procurement of
00:16:15molecules, now this we are now of six months
00:16:19into the conflict, so there's been no shortage, there's been no quees
00:16:23at the gas stations, there's been no law in order situation, which
00:16:26unfortunately we have seen in some the other countries,
00:16:29so october we are good, november we are
00:16:33planning, it's both in terms the crude and
00:16:37the gas in terms of LNG, now obviously as we go
00:16:41forward, if this conflict lingers will have to make participation
00:16:45choices, but one thing I just want to say is we are, while we are
00:16:48very focused on petroleum, the food security is as important
00:16:52as the energy security, and we are very fortunate
00:16:56to have a situation in Pakistan where our fertilizer situation,
00:17:00daap whether etc it's because
00:17:01urea, of our existing
00:17:04stocks, but also in terms of our local capability.
00:17:08uh we are a good place from that perspective as well, first order
00:17:12impact has been negotiated well, the second order impact
00:17:15in terms of its impact and we have also gone for targeted subsidies
00:17:19for vulnerable segments etc. but we are keeping very close eye on
00:17:23inflation and gdp about first order, when it comes to
00:17:27how Pakistan has been able to secure shipments, what has it been
00:17:31using as leverage with Iran to secure
00:17:34shipments, cargos? can you help us understand that? well... I think
00:17:38overall I would say I want to compliment our
00:17:42leadership right, in the first instance we were all we
00:17:45were all very hopeful when the Islamabad emaju happened right, that again
00:17:49as a country very fortunate to have
00:17:53very good relationship with the Trump administration and the trust and credibility the
00:17:57Iranian leadership and a combination of that
00:18:01helped in terms of culmination in terms the Islam by the Muu, it
00:18:05continues to help us in terms. of our procurement
00:18:08capability as well, minister, thank you for your time today, it's been
00:18:12great to chat with you, really appreciate
00:18:21Mohammad Orangzeb interviewing with Bloomberg TV Bangkok, he stated that we are extremely
00:18:25grateful to our bilateral partners for being with us, that sustainability
00:18:29is going to be very critical enabler for us, he said that Pakistan issued
00:18:33three billion dollars dual trans euro bonds, he said that
00:18:37with respect to US, we are looking at the launcher picture and we are moving in the right direction
00:18:41with the investments and the trade. He said that Pakistan seeks greater
00:18:44access to global capital markets as Pakistan privately issued
00:18:48$750 million dollar bonds in April this
00:18:52year. Finance minister says appropriate inflation, reserves and policy
00:18:56rate levels key economic stability. And
00:19:00last day he said that investers show interest in rupees
00:19:03denominated dollar federal
00:19:05bonds.
00:19:09Well that's all for
00:19:10now further details, stay tuned to Pakistan
00:19:12TV.
00:19:30Bangladesh goes into 12th February 2026 parliamentary elections after
00:19:34major political reset. Bangladesh heads to the port. once again
00:19:38with the new generation decides the next chapter of
00:19:40Bangladesh.
00:19:52Pakistan TV team is here at the Beijing capital international
00:19:55airport.
00:20:02Pakistan TV is right now reporting live from the great hall the people
00:20:06here in China.
00:20:15delegation led by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and chief of defense
00:20:18force field marshall Assim Munir have now
00:20:22departed from the great hall the
00:20:24people.
00:20:32A very significant mous will be signed in this
00:20:36important meeting.
00:20:52we are at the jinna convention center and just not me, this is
00:20:56me, sana and of course our channel, as the
00:20:59Islamabad talks comment today, prime minister Mohammad Shahbas Sharif held the key
00:21:03meeting with us vice
00:21:04president,
00:21:18you about about the Pakistan.
00:21:32the man of peace, it was Pakistan who made sure that the
00:21:3647 year old conflict
00:21:38ends,
00:21:47the way he praised the role of prime minister. Mr. Shahbas
00:21:50Sharief, field marshall Assim, it made headlines
00:21:54in Pakistan. I have also had such a privilege and
00:21:57honor to witness such a
00:21:59friendship.
00:22:06I appreciate the government of Pakistan and everybody involved in organizing this
00:22:10very, very important seminar. I'm here at Jinna
00:22:14Convention Center Islamabad. Pakistan's water strategy is
00:22:18clear, when a river crosses border. cooperation becomes just as
00:22:22important as the water
00:22:23itself,
00:22:31from the heart of south asia to the cross roads of central Asia, from the turbulent
00:22:35middle east and north africa to the power corridors the west. i think
00:22:39that the proxy situation is very
00:22:42problematic uh for the
00:22:46US, for Israel, for around,
00:22:50states for the world at large, this
00:22:54conflict could expand, that's what Pakistan and
00:22:58Cutter are trying to prevent. Israel wants
00:23:01the land of Palestine without the Palestinian people, and that is
00:23:05why we see the situation in
00:23:09Gaza being getting getting
00:23:12worse.
00:23:13Field Mar have kept a channel open when nothing else was working, and that
00:23:17matters,
00:23:18and of course the cease fire came through. Islamabad: gender
00:23:21persecution is already a crime against humanity under the Rome
00:23:25statute, and the international criminal court has issued
00:23:29arrest warrants for the two top taliban
00:23:32leaders: and Sheikh Khani, who is the
00:23:36chief justice. I suspect that the Canadians are going
00:23:40to pressure on areas that will cause lot of
00:23:43dis comfort to the Americans as they're coming into the midterm
00:23:47elections in November. Iran's... declaration that it
00:23:51does not intend to produce a nuclear weapon is
00:23:55politically relevant, but declarations alone cannot
00:23:58resolve the security dilemma. Iran has always said it's prepared to
00:24:02continue the conflict, but it's clear that it's preferences for this war to end,
00:24:06the US and the Trump administration I think is the same, so there is alignment, but
00:24:10obviously the problem has been
00:24:12how we get
00:24:13there.
00:24:24Hello and welcome to experts corner, this is Mahin
00:24:27Joffrey.
00:24:32Pakistan is there and it was mediator between
00:24:36it and the United States, so this this
00:24:39gives this defense agreement diplomatic
00:24:43angle. Saudi Arabia, gata, all these countries are going to find
00:24:46alternative roots for the energy export. "the
00:24:50United States, not only because it's spending in front the new term
00:24:54elections, but also in the general strategic
00:24:58context, should seriously
00:25:01recess its policy towards Iran.
00:25:05I mean, Iran and Oman can negotiate, and countries like Pakistan
00:25:09and Katar and Turkey have been helpful in trying to mediate some
00:25:12type of resolution here, but again as I said earlier, I
00:25:16believe right now the Trump administration has nearly zero patience." for
00:25:20so-called negotiations with the Iranian regime, well certainly
00:25:24the war has not proven to be as uh quick
00:25:28or as decisive as the president initially
00:25:31suggested, seniors are coming back, still fighting for the right,
00:25:35are not accepting, india should be declared a country
00:25:39of particular
00:25:40concern.
00:25:51Hello and welcome to onfold, I am, we saw
00:25:54earlier, the exchange rate has become considerably more stable, the
00:25:58external account has become more manageable, the interest rate on on treasure.
00:26:02bonds or the yield and treasury bonds is uh is going up for the
00:26:06first time in uh in Canadian
00:26:10history in regional countries and globally that America can be a
00:26:14friend, but if there is a choice between Israel and any particular country then
00:26:17America would always preparay. the the atrocities or the
00:26:21crimes committed against the Palestinian people have started long before
00:26:252023. after the embarrassing debackle that
00:26:29India faced after Mark last year, "this could
00:26:33help
00:26:34you know attempt to repair the moral the armed
00:26:38forces. It has been clearly indicated from the Russian side
00:26:42that peace cannot be pushed forward, it can be
00:26:46softly and smoothly promoted, so it
00:26:50should be treated in very careful way. um, the
00:26:53economic, the clock for economic collapse and
00:26:57political col collapse, these are really two different flops. by
00:27:01presenting my tribute..." and salute to the shodaya of Pakistan
00:27:04considering the importance of today and and the sacrifices which
00:27:08they made for our beautiful country. Ukraine is a NATO,
00:27:12not the NATO member, but it affects to the NATO and the European
00:27:16security. He is the conflict, because I think under the current
00:27:19circumstances, it's virtually impossible to
00:27:23end the Ukraine war, to force Moscow and Kiev
00:27:26to sign peace
00:27:28deal.
00:27:40Either it's reaching out to the customers, either they like
00:27:44building different assessments, all of that
00:27:48one assessment that used to take like a week now can be done in 10
00:27:52minutes, and unfortunately I think there's a
00:27:55possibility that some of Modi's advisers are saying
00:27:59that is what India must do, and therefore India has... look to the
00:28:03united states and Israel, so many people say, oh this mountain
00:28:07is crazy, beautiful, i want to tricking, so this year some front come
00:28:11here, i actually got an email by the organizers the harders and
00:28:15business competition and the way the competition structured is that there was an
00:28:18initial online round that was open to anyone globally, so the problem
00:28:22is this that in the first test match the combination wasn't good,
00:28:26pakistan had all the attributes, it had the credibility of
00:28:30a strong nation, it had the cred of neutrality that both
00:28:34parties could trust, and above all Pakistan was
00:28:37and is legitimate partner for both these
00:28:41nations. I can make so many words with these
00:28:44stair, dear, tears,
00:28:47rates.
