00:04:50Sagda has said Pakistan has written
00:04:53of story of everlasting sacrifices in the war on terror offering more than
00:04:5690 thousand lives and suffering severe damage. to its
00:05:00economy, addressing a conference on the changing landscape of counter terrorism in
00:05:04Islam, the deputy prime minister that Pakistan fates terrorism with
00:05:08courage, bravery and resilience, he said on the directive offield
00:05:12marshals operations against terrorism have been conducted daily in
00:05:15every province has to play its two role. speaking
00:05:19about Afghanistan, the Pakistan is only one demand that Afghan
00:05:23territory not be used for terrorism. that Pakistan has continued to
00:05:27press the Afghan regime and has visited Afghanistan for
00:05:30talks. deputy prime minister Das said a trilateral meeting
00:05:34of Pakistan, China in Afghanistan was held in Karble in August
00:05:372025, but the Afghan authorities did not fulfill their
00:05:41commitments. you also say the presence the band TTP in
00:05:45other terrorist groups in Afghanistan is a threat to regional peace and that
00:05:49terrorists infiltrate across the border to attack soldiers and
00:05:52citizens. the deputy prime ministers that
00:05:56terrorism from mapan soil is not acceptable under any circumstances
00:06:00and that the Afghan Taliban regime must immediately stop all
00:06:04support to the terrorists including weapons. he reaffirmed that
00:06:08Pakistan is committed to the complete elimination of
00:06:11terrorism.
00:06:18Federal minister for information and
00:06:19broadcasting
00:06:22there was a breakdown of governance and terrorists were destroying people's
00:06:25livelihoods, talking exclusively to Pakistan TV, the federal
00:06:29minister for information and broadcasting that federal government imposed emergency in the
00:06:33province under valid constitutional
00:06:44what happened in KP imposing the governor rule was not a
00:06:48political move, but there are other thoughts that you
00:06:52know there was a two-third majority of a party
00:06:56called BTI at was thrown out, how do you
00:06:59justify the governor rule being imposed there? the 1973
00:07:03constitution of Pakistan has valid
00:07:06clauses with regard to imposition of emergency and imposition of
00:07:10governor's rule. now once the framers the
00:07:14constitution intended the use these clauses in
00:07:18dire circumstances, so
00:07:21constitutional provision exists, whenever there is a breakdown of governance, whenever there
00:07:25is a collapse, that is the time when
00:07:28such clauses are invoked, so I
00:07:32think with regard to terrorism,
00:07:34there was a surge in terrorism for the past many
00:07:37years, PTI government has been there in KPK
00:07:41for the past. 13 and a half years and they failed to take any
00:07:45credible steps to eradicate terrorism, in fact they were hand in glove with the
00:07:49terrorist, terrorist infrastructures were being promoted in and in the
00:07:53south districts in many areas terrorists had been given
00:07:57complete ingress, terrorists were manning police stations, they
00:08:01were there in the administration after nightfall
00:08:05and i think there was a sympathy with the Taliban,
00:08:08with the TTP, with the proscribed organizations by the
00:08:12PTI government now the national finance commission yes since
00:08:162010 has given 1% of its share to the KPK government
00:08:20which now amounts to after so many years amounts to 800 million
00:08:23800 billion rupees now where has this so the setup which
00:08:27is in place right now will they be looking into where
00:08:31the that money has gone they absolutely should and it's not my place to tell them
00:08:35if they should or they should not I think it's a very very competent setup
00:08:39very as I must say non partisan
00:08:42setup, very professional people, with accuman,
00:08:46with skill, with integrity, with experience, with qualification, these
00:08:50people, their integrity and their competence is
00:08:54beyond any doubt, so I think there was a breakdown of
00:08:57governance, terrorists were roaming about the districts,
00:09:01killing people, destroying their livelihoods, so I
00:09:05think once these terrorists were gaining ingress with the help and
00:09:09support the PTI government and the chief minister, "that is
00:09:12when this emergency has been imposed and it
00:09:16has been imposed through valid constitutional clause, and
00:09:20as result we have seen that there have been no protest in
00:09:24the province oftunkwah, the PTA used to claim that
00:09:28if there is such eventuality where emergencies imposed, millions
00:09:32of people would come on the streets, so we have not seen one credible
00:09:36protest in the entire province, in fact people have welcomed this
00:09:40step because they have seen that the new advisory council.
00:09:52so honorable minister, the federal government
00:09:56have associated the BTI with the TDP and the other
00:10:00terrorist organizations, so do you have any evidence?
00:10:03number one, there is one argument that they have
00:10:07been doing the long marches in the districts where the army
00:10:11and police cannot. go
00:10:13and they requested the terrorist for
00:10:17safe passage, yes, we have lot of credible evidence on our
00:10:21hands, which shows this unholy alliance, this cluse...
00:10:25the PTI KPK government and the terrorists, in fact
00:10:29all political parties have given sacrifices and you know we wish safety for
00:10:33PTI, but they had asked the terrorists to give their
00:10:36marge safe passage to the districts where ordinary citizens cannot pass, where
00:10:40other political parties representatives cannot pass, so I
00:10:43think they were not only supportive the
00:10:47terrorists, they were in fact promoting these terrorists, you see, I went
00:10:51to kohart, I visited the home of a martered policeman and his father...
00:10:55said to me that we are ready to fight this fight, but the government of KPK is not supporting
00:10:59us. I went to the hospital, I met the injured and their
00:11:03resolved and determination to fight against terrorism. It's it's stronger than ever.
00:11:06The people of Khabar Pakhton have given innumerable
00:11:10sacrifices, valuable sacrifices against this war, but we had
00:11:14a government which was you know promoting terrorists
00:11:18and enabling them to carry out these attacks. They did not do any
00:11:22capacity building for the police, for the CTT. to install safe city
00:11:25cameras all across KPK, to make a forensic lab, to give equipment to the
00:11:29police, in fact whenever federal government tried to give any equipment, they returned it back, so I think
00:11:33it's it was very sorry state of affairs and I would take good, you had
00:11:37given negotiations a chance, of
00:11:40course, if they hadn't opted for the long
00:11:44march, would the federal government still
00:11:47had gone for, so I think the imposing, I think we
00:11:51gave negotiations lot of room a lot of chance had long
00:11:55police going on, but they were never serious, they used to agree to one thing and then they used
00:11:59to you know just turn back on their word. we had only one agenda, that was
00:12:03counter terrorism, eradication of terrorism and serious efforts on part the provincial
00:12:07government to counter terrorism, had they carried on with the long march,
00:12:11we don't care, we had only one agenda that please fight against these
00:12:14terrorists and bring a counter terrorism

00:13:05show we are going to talk about the situation developing in the middle
00:13:08east, in the second segment we are going to talk about the
00:13:12controversy in the so-called largest democracy in the world,
00:13:15India regarding the revision in the electoral
00:13:19roles, there has been crackdown on the part the authorities against the
00:13:23demonstrations and massive protests
00:13:27as they have erupted against this exercise the election
00:13:30commission of India and the Bharatiya Janata party
00:13:34led government in the center. We are going to talk about that particular
00:13:38pressing issue. India is faced with in the second segment of today's
00:13:42show. Let's begin with the first one. We know for
00:13:46fact that the situation which is unfolding
00:13:50in the Middle East has entered into a very
00:13:54dangerous phase. when we talk about the convergence of multiple
00:13:57crises, when we talk about there was a crisis that was unfolding
00:14:01between the US and Iran, there is a little
00:14:05bit of lull when we talk about the active hostilities between the two, but
00:14:09on the other side we have seen there is increase in the
00:14:13escalation when we talk about Saudi Arabia and the
00:14:16Huti rebels, also there are reports that
00:14:20suggest that the fighting continues in the Red Sea around
00:14:24Babal M between the Huti rebels and the
00:14:28Yemen's government. Also when we talk about in the
00:14:31latest the developments, there has been a horrific attack
00:14:35on Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Riyad's king Khalid international
00:14:39airport, as result of which there have
00:14:42been reports of casualities and injuries
00:14:46as well, at least 12 people have been killed in over
00:14:49309 people have been injured
00:14:53in that particular series. strikes by the Houti
00:14:56rebels against Kingdom of Saudi Arabia we have seen a
00:15:00strong reaction coming from the kingdom of Saudi Arabia
00:15:04calling or describing this action as a full
00:15:07fledged war crime and is also promised very
00:15:11decisive response against the Houti rebels in the wake of
00:15:15this particular act of aggression on the part the Hutis likewise
00:15:19we have seen the condemmination coming from all across when
00:15:23we talk about the United Nations Secretary General Pakistan's Prime Minister
00:15:27Shahbas Sharief has also condemned this attack and
00:15:31is also reiterated Pakistan's commitment to Saudi
00:15:34Arabia's security especially. under the
00:15:38Macca joint defense agreement. Also Malaysia,
00:15:42Germany, the United Arab Emirates and number of other
00:15:45countries and also international institutions,
00:15:49including the European Union, they have also
00:15:52condemned this attack against Kingdom of Saudi
00:15:55Arabia's sovereignty, territorial integrity and
00:15:59security. At the same time there is an interesting factor when we talk about
00:16:03President Donald Trump, he was asked whether there could be a
00:16:07possible. the military involvement on the part
00:16:10the US, besides the Saudi forces
00:16:14against the Houties, he responded by saying that
00:16:18we may, but that is not an official
00:16:22confirmation that perhaps the US would be
00:16:25involved in this retaliation the part the kingdom of Saudi Arabia against the
00:16:29Houties through the military means, what are the
00:16:31options resting with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia
00:16:35amid this escalating? situation between itself
00:16:39and the hoot is concerned, what is the likelihood the
00:16:43US military involvement in this, and also when we talk
00:16:47about in the larger scheme of things when there
00:16:50are uncertainties regarding as to where
00:16:54that conflict between the US and Iran will go, although there is
00:16:58a suspension of strikes, there was an announcement made by the US president
00:17:02regarding the suspension of strikes until after the midterm
00:17:05elections against a... but does this
00:17:09front actually compound that entire
00:17:12situation in the middle east when we talk about kingdom of soudi arabia and
00:17:16the hooti rebels where does diplomacy stand at the moment when
00:17:20it comes to or there any sort
00:17:23of chances when we talk about deescalating the situation between kingdom of
00:17:27Saudi Arabia and Hutis through diplomatic means all these
00:17:31important aspects of discussion for that we are honored to being joined
00:18:01let's begin the discussion with you, colnel sweet when
00:18:05we specifically try to understand "this
00:18:08very series of strikes on the part the hoothies
00:18:12when it comes to the civilian infrastructure
00:18:16within the kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it has been described as a
00:18:20full fledged war crime on the part the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and it
00:18:24has also promised a very decisive response. could you give us an
00:18:28understanding, how do you look at that,
00:18:32what's your assessment, what is this act on the part of futis when
00:18:36it comes to specifically? is we the civilian
00:18:47let's let let's not kit ourselves, okay, the hoothi rebels are
00:18:50proxies the Iranian regime, okay, so they
00:18:54are acting, one on behalf of Iran, but
00:18:58two, the hoothi rebels have been at war with Saudi Arabia for years,
00:19:02right? I mean, I can recall when I was a senior intelligence officer in Jibooti
00:19:05uh, Africa in uh... 2015 that the hoothies were
00:19:09firing drones and ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia
00:19:13but also at the United Arab Emirates, so there's a lot of blad bad blood between the
00:19:17two, okay? and and I suspect,
00:19:20strongly, Iran's been funding them, equipping them, training them, there's
00:19:24IRGC advisors on the ground, the hoothi have also been firing
00:19:28ballistic missiles into Israel, so let's let's not, let's not think that
00:19:32this just occurred, this has been going on for a long
00:19:35time, uh, this isn't intended to, in my opinion, do
00:19:39two things, it's it's intended to add to the the
00:19:43glut if you will of oil coming out the out the
00:19:53but specifically talking about this instance in
00:19:56particular when when we talk about the targeting the civilian
00:20:00infrastructure, we've seen the casualties happening, hundreds
00:20:04of injuries have happened, this is clear cut. violation
00:20:08of international law, the international norms, there are covenants, there
00:20:11conventions internationally that forbid and prohibit
00:20:15in categorical terms of any military
00:20:19advancement or strike when it comes to the civilian
00:20:21infrastructure. now i agree with that,
00:20:24it it it
00:20:24is it is a war crime, and look, we've seen nothing but war crimes for
00:20:28the past four and a half years and we see the international community largely ignored
00:20:32them, okay? so yes a war crimes,
00:20:35civilians were killed, civilians were... target okay, riyad is
00:20:39the airport that they struck is a civilian airport, it's
00:20:42not a military airport, it's a civilian airport, it was delivered and it got what they
00:20:45wanted, which was attention to their cause.
00:20:50attention to Iran's cause and they believe that by
00:20:53escalating and getting that type of attention that the other nations in
00:20:57the region, the other Gulf state nations in Jordan and Israel
00:21:01will somehow back off of off either Iran or
00:21:05back off off the hoothi, but all that's really done is
00:21:09just in my opinion is just yes, it further escalates the
00:21:13situation and it's going to possibly cause an expansion the
00:21:16war, okay when I say expansion the war I mean saudi'. maybe
00:21:20retaliating, but retaliatory strikes don't win wars, they just make you feel
00:21:24better at the end the day, but it could involve Pakistan, it could also involve
00:21:28Turkey uh, and as you stated in your opening
00:21:31piece, both them are signatories to the Mecca agreement, but let's
00:21:35also understand that they signed that document almost three months ago,
00:21:39so it's very um, we're a time right now uh
00:21:43that that one or two actions on the battlefield can
00:21:47cause strategic consequences and and we're starting... see
00:21:50that right now on the ground there in in the middle
00:22:00what's your understanding when we specifically talk about the options
00:22:04resting right now after this rific attack against civilian
00:22:07infrastructure in the kingdom, what options resting with the
00:22:11kingdom of Saudi Arabia when it has promised a
00:22:15decisive response in return to towards the
00:22:18hoothies?
00:22:25John Sweet is saying, uh, I think the uh, whothies are messaging
00:22:28here, trying to bring attention to their cause, by attacking the
00:22:32King Khalid airport, which is a civilian airport, uh,
00:22:36clearly uh, they're not only just committing a war crime, uh, but they're trying to
00:22:40send loud exclamation mark that they don't mind uh, because they
00:22:44view that as is key to getting their global
00:22:47message out there, that set, I think there's... also two other messages that are
00:22:51happening that will impact the nature of Saudi Arabia's
00:22:54response uh this kind of attack, this type of horrific attack where 12
00:22:58people were killed uh didn't happen a vacuum. I highly
00:23:02suspect that the approaching US mid-terms also
00:23:06motivated the hoothies to act uh by attacking the US alli in the
00:23:10region by attacking a Sunni state at that and that
00:23:14they are attempting to influence oil prices and and
00:23:17probably Iran is behind this, not probably we. that Iran is behind this, the
00:23:21IGC has been less effective of late in terms of interdicting
00:23:25uh oil supplies going through the traiter chamus and so they need the hoothies to
00:23:29be escalating in the babomed dead straight in the red sea in general
00:23:33and I think that's why we've seen this action of late with the Husees taking the red sea
00:23:37coastal areas and now forcing Saudi Arabia to come back
00:23:41uh so Saudi Arabia has a big decision ahead them uh they need to ask
00:23:45themselves are we going to continue to manage this conflict as we have for
00:23:49you - two decades, this goes back to
00:23:512015, where they just want to manage it to a stalemate, because that's
00:23:55certainly been their approach, that's certainly been the Umani government
00:23:58approach, however estatlement has got them vulnerable where they're at
00:24:02now, because Iran over that same time period has been
00:24:05supplying via the RGC, the hoothies are
00:24:08ballistic missiles and drones and they're coming under attack, so so
00:24:12far Saudi Arabia in terms of this firm response that their defense
00:24:16spokesman made this morning or yesterday, depending on what... time zone
00:24:20you're in, um, you, if it's just going to be more air strikes, if it's only going to be
00:24:24limitted ground type support uh for operations to
00:24:27retake territory controlled by the hoothies, I don't think much
00:24:31changes and Pakistan itself, as part of this Mecca
00:24:34agreement is also going to have to be deciding whether or not they're going to
00:24:38hear to their own 2015 decision not to involve
00:24:42themselves in offensive operations uh in Yemen, but
00:24:46simply to resort to or I mean to refrain them.
00:24:50from that, but just to basically be there to defend holy sites
00:24:53and and civilian sites within the kingdom of Saudi Arabia
00:24:57itself, so Saudi Arabia has a big choice here, it's not clear which
00:25:01way they're going to do, but I do think they need to be doing more air streaks, I
00:25:05think they need to be considering the introduction of of ground forces
00:25:09if only a limited basis and and and quickly here I think they also need
00:25:13to be talking to the new eco partners how they can bring this about, because
00:25:17if not is just going to be rins and repeat in. arabia in the region will
00:25:20keep facing this crisis, the huties are not going away unless they're
00:25:32the us position with hoodis now, there was an
00:25:36earlier stars, so we know for fact few weeks back there
00:25:40was a statement made by president himself
00:25:43that perhaps there was some sort of an engagement when it
00:25:46comes to the US and hooutis and hootis didn't want the
00:25:50US to come after them, now looking at
00:25:54this spec specific
00:25:56attack, president Trump was himself
00:26:00asked whether they could be a... us military involvement and he
00:26:04said we may, it's not an official confirmation as
00:26:08we do have clarity on that, but what could be the
00:26:11likelihood the US involvement at this
00:26:14stage going against the hoothies? do you
00:26:17think the US just before the midterm elections could afford to be involved
00:26:21militarily on another front, just when it is
00:26:25involved directly with Iran on the other
00:26:31you back to March of 2025. from March to May 2025, the United States was
00:26:35involved an operation called Ruff Rider in which they bombed right,
00:26:38hoothy targets for the better part of 45 days and if you
00:26:41recall when the cease fire was announced the
00:26:45uh the agreement for the most part was the houthies said we won't we won't attack US
00:26:49ships if you stop bombing us right and that was it and that supposedly was the
00:26:53end the operation an operation by the way which the Saudi Arabia
00:26:57government sat back and watch and did not participate uh they're
00:27:01probably thinking they probably should have done that uh
00:27:23so there may be some additional strikes that occur. i don't necessarily think he's going to be chasing
00:27:27hoothi, i think he's going to be chasing the source
00:27:30and the source in this case in my opinion. is
00:27:32Iran
00:27:36right, okay, col sweet, when we try to understand the overall
00:27:40scheme of things, when we talk about what were the objectives which
00:27:44was said by Trump administration, when we talk about its
00:27:47invasion against Iran so far more
00:27:51than eight,
00:27:53more than eight months into that particular conflict, there is
00:27:56announcement that perhaps the newer strikes
00:27:59might come after the mid-term.
00:28:02elections: now we have also seen the approval
00:28:06ratings for President Trump going down before the midterm
00:28:10elections. now if if in case there happens
00:28:14to be a military involvement on part the US to
00:28:18support Saudi Arabia against the hoothies, what sort
00:28:22of an impact this military involvement do you think it could
00:28:25have generally on the public opinion just before the
00:28:29elections? yeah, look, I see it. two
00:28:32ways, okay, and I'll go back to what Marcus said, if it's just
00:28:36retiratory strikes, if it's just hitting buildings and uh,
00:28:40and
00:28:40and and showing battle damage assessment videos to the American public and how successful we
00:28:44were at blowing things up, then I don't think the impact is anything be quite
00:28:48honest with, because it doesn't achieve anything, if the impact is fall
00:28:52of regime, if the impact is the opening the straight because there's
00:28:55nobody firing into either the bob uh,
00:28:59bob almond deb or into the straight of harmous. and safe passages
00:29:03occurring
00:29:04and we're seeing a sense peace break out through the Middle East, I think it has a
00:29:08positive impact, but right now the targets
00:29:10at least, as axios reported, the possible targets that the
00:29:14president mentioned earlier were Iranian energy, Iranian
00:29:18infrastructure and nuclear targets, none them included the
00:29:21IRGC by name, and none them include the possibility of taking the
00:29:25regime down, so retaliatory strikes and massive assaults
00:29:29up to now, as you just said, eight months into a conflict. haven't
00:29:33achieved the desired result, in this case the desired result
00:29:36will be the fall the regime. what it has done is limit their
00:29:40abilities to respond conventionally, but they still
00:29:44have, as far as we understand, they still have some enriched uranium, and they still
00:29:48have asymmetric capability that threatens the entire
00:29:51region, and addition, it's been threatening great Britain and other
00:29:55allies throughout Europe, because their ability to leverage proxys and
00:29:59sleeper cells, so Iran continues to be a problem,
00:30:02and un' he addresses the problem, which is the
00:30:05regime, I don't think he gets much headway in the United
00:30:20what's your assessment, what is the likelihood the US getting
00:30:24militarily involved in support of Saudi Arabia against Saudies given the
00:30:28fact there was an earlier statement or a stance on the part of president
00:30:31himself. when he said publicly that hooties have
00:30:35asked him not to go behind them after them
00:30:39sorry right now i really doubt that
00:30:42president Trump is going to be willing to initiate uh any wide scale
00:30:46attacks at this point in support of Saudi Arabia ahead the
00:30:49midterms - simply because he's trying to manage oil prices and by
00:30:53extension gas prices to the average American uh uh consumer
00:30:57and ultimately voter uh now
