00:00:03to say that we are honoring, in your opinion, what is the message being conveyed through this honoring to the Palestinian intellectual in general and to Palestinian culture in particular? I mean, usually in Palestine and in the Arab world, perhaps, honoring happens after departure. We remember the virtues and regret that we did not honor our writers, poets, and thinkers while they were alive. To give me a rose while I am alive, as a writer and innovator, and to place a hand of love and goodness on my shoulder is better than placing an extensive and wide and lavish garden on my grave. Therefore, the joy was immense for our professors yesterday, who grew on the branch of the founding battalion, and we grew on the branch of their great and lofty and culturally and intellectually solid meaning. The joy was overwhelming that this honoring came at this difficult moment to push them and us to bear the great responsibility and to say that we pay attention to our intellectuals because they are the popular army in the Palestine Liberation Organization as unions and federations, and the General Union of Writers accepts nothing less than to be the vanguard with the Journalists' Syndicate. We fly with two wings, and yesterday, my brother and friend Nasser Abu Bakr, the head of the Journalists' Syndicate, was also by our side, with whom I walk in parallel steps in Palestine and beyond to affirm the lofty saying of Palestine and its broad meaning and defend this meaning, because I always say that Palestine is the meaning of meaning and the metaphor of metaphors. Therefore, the responsibility is great for intellectuals, for journalists, because we are fighting the most dangerous and fiercest occupation that has reproduced death and destruction throughout history on the body of Palestine, and what happened in Gaza and what is happening in the surrounding area of escalations and engineering and re- design, and يعني disassembling the disassembled and fragmenting the fragmented with a new Sykes-Picot. Palestine will thwart it every time, because it is, as I said, a heavenly secret and a glorious meaning, whose origin lies with the noble martyrs in the long history of struggle, and since the establishment of the Liberation Organization. And here I remember Ahmed Al-Shukeiri, the founder and builder. Ahmed Al-Shukeiri, Abu Mazen, who laid all the foundations of the popular organizations and the establishment of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and paid attention to the research center in his second decision in establishing the Palestine Liberation Organization, moving up towards the Union of Palestinian Writers and all federations and unions. And between Abu Mazen Ahmed Al-Shukeiri and President Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazen, much water has flowed under the river of Palestinian culture and nationalism. We, as intellectuals, must not block the channel that some want to make ambiguous and shallow and muddy. Rather, we want it clear as the eye of this Palestine, which gazes at its future with desired and complete freedom, fully complete. Thank you, Murad Al-Sudani, the poet and also the Secretary of the Palestinian Writers Union. Thank you. The occupation forces continue their aggression on Qalandia refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem, for the second day in a row, amidst widespread raids and the arrest of a number of young men. Our correspondent reported, quoting the Red Crescent Society, that 16 citizens had been injured since the start of the occupation forces' aggression on Qalandia refugee camp and the town of Kafr Aqab, north of occupied Jerusalem. In this context, the occupation forces fired sound bombs at journalists at the camp's entrance before driving them away from the vicinity of the main entrance and forcing them to leave the area in an attempt to prevent media coverage of what is happening inside. The occupation forces also closed the Jerusalem street connecting the town of Kafr Aqab and Qalandia refugee camp, as well as the road leading to the camp from the Sikal area, and prevented journalists and media outlets from reaching its vicinity and imposed strict restrictions on media coverage of the events. In the context of the continuous aggression, the occupation forces assaulted a number of young men and abused them after arresting them during the storming of the camp and the town of Kafr Aqab. neighboring. So, let's look at the details regarding these repeated incursions into the Qalandia refugee camp area and also the town of Kafr Aqab and the effects of these incursions on the area in general and on the citizens who reside in these areas. With us is Muhammad Aslan, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Popular Committee for Qalandia Camp Services. Welcome. So, for the second consecutive day, the Israeli aggression continues on the camp. Sorry, Qalandia camp and the town of Kafr Aqab. And therefore, in the beginning, let's look at the most prominent details and field developments. Good evening to you all and all viewers of Palestine TV. Exactly what you said. The aggression has been continuous since yesterday until now, with an escalating pace. We have monitored a series of attacks through storming homes, smashing their contents and destroying them. The assault by beating and brutalizing young men in a barbaric and savage manner. Preventing ambulance crews and relief crews from reaching the residents of Qalandia camp. A frantic campaign, I mean, affecting trees, people, and stones. Everything in Qalandia camp is targeted, unfortunately. This is a crazy, frantic campaign with no basis in truth. It is also, I mean, we note here that we refute all Israeli claims that this campaign is a security campaign. We firmly believe that this campaign, I mean, its motives are fundamentally political, and we do not want to become, as refugees and camps, fuel for the upcoming election campaign of the right-wing extremist government in Israel in October next. We were informed of the most prominent details regarding these Israeli attacks and Israeli goals in the region, but let me also welcome Marouf Al-Rifai, the media advisor to the Jerusalem Governorate. Welcome. And I turn to you with a question regarding the field events that are happening on a large scale in Qalandia camp and the town of Kafr Aqab. Therefore, what are their implications for the Jerusalem region in general, and what are your latest follow-ups regarding these repeated and ongoing attacks? Thank you and I thank you for the addition. As my brother Abu Saeed mentioned, the humanitarian situation in Qalandia camp and the area of north of Jerusalem is catastrophic. The occupation forces have been present and storming Qalandia camp since yesterday dawn, preventing residents and families from leaving their homes. There are some families who are still trapped in their homes and are prohibited from moving, and some families are even prohibited from accessing the kitchen. One family contacted us saying that the occupation soldiers present in their home prevent them from preparing food for their children and family members. Therefore, we and our brothers in the Palestinian Liaison intervened to allow them even to enter the kitchen. There are also some families who, I mean, do not have food, water, or medicine, and there are catastrophic humanitarian cases that have been evacuated, such as kidney patients and some pregnant women who were on the verge of giving birth to new babies. Therefore, the humanitarian situation is a disaster. But I want to say, my sister Dana, that this campaign is a purely political campaign. Before this date, there was incitement from ministers in Netanyahu's government, who said that we would launch a large military campaign against Balata camp in Nablus, Al-Jalazoun camp in Ramallah, and Qalandia camp in the city of Jerusalem. This campaign, which did not come as a surprise to us in the Jerusalem Governorate, we were expecting it because we knew the extent of the great incitement and the extent of the electoral propaganda that Knesset members and Netanyahu's government members are competing over at the expense of our people in order to launch this military campaign. This campaign has several goals, including passing a number of settlement projects in this area, primarily what was announced regarding the establishment of settlement projects on the land of Jerusalem International Airport and Road 45, which is almost completed and will connect settlements east of Ramallah and East Jerusalem with Jerusalem settlements through the tunnel that has been completed below Qalandia Airport. And there is also the construction of more than 9,000 settlement units on the land of Jerusalem International Airport. There are demolition notices that have already been implemented in Qalandia village and in Kafr Aqab and in Qalandia. And we also do not forget, I mean, the attempt to target UNRWA in this area. It is true that in this campaign, the institute was not, I mean, stormed, and it was not attacked, but there is great incitement, especially by the occupation municipality in Jerusalem, to seize the institute's buildings and use them for municipal purposes. You spoke in detail, Mr. Marouf, but I will turn to Muhammad Aslan, I mean, in your capacity as members of the Popular Committee specifically for Qalandia services, I mean, how do you deal with the needs of the residents, especially in these circumstances?
00:00:08cauldron in this
00:00:11line of abuse and this barbarism in
00:00:15agreement to facilitate
00:00:24to a new
00:00:26the citizens episode of "After the Event". We will
00:00:35and translation. Palestinian cover the most prominent field events and analyze them.
00:00:37leaving home. We start I told you, preventing access with this
00:00:40news, where President Mahmoud Abbas honored a number of national figures,
00:00:44including the founders
00:00:47for us to integrate with cultural in general of the Palestinian Writers and Authors Union, by awarding them medals of
00:00:50culture, science, and arts. This is in appreciation of their
00:00:55pioneering and active role in preserving the Palestinian national
00:00:57identity and solidifying its presence in its
00:01:01Arab and international depth. So,
00:01:05to understand the importance
00:01:08of this specific event
00:01:10and this
00:01:13honoring, we have
00:01:18And yesterday, we talked with with us in the studio the poet Murad Al-Sudani. Welcome. In the beginning, what are the implications of President Mahmoud
00:01:21Abbas honoring the founders of the Palestinian
00:01:25Writers and Authors Union and also the national figures
00:01:29and dignitaries
00:01:32with medals of culture, science,
00:01:34and arts
00:01:37to the founding battalion, at this difficult and bitter moment in the country's history, as it is on the verge
00:01:40of confrontation and defiance,
00:01:43ink, and resistance in the homeland and diaspora?
00:01:47This honoring confirms the national identity
00:01:50and resistant
00:01:53culture. This honoring comes for a multitude of free souls
00:01:56and great names in Palestinian culture, from
00:01:59the founders of the General Union of Palestinian
00:02:02Writers and Authors in the occupied land.
00:02:04Under the conditions of the occupation, they laid
00:02:11to the liberated prisoners, the foundations of national and cultural identity, along with their colleagues who
00:02:16that are not veiled, continued Palestine's long path and resistant culture. Indeed,
00:02:19of its people, and its mountains also paying attention to the year
00:02:231966, Khairi
00:02:25artistic towers or for Hammad, the first president of the Palestinian Writers Union, after
00:02:28the establishment of the Palestine
00:02:31and ink this Liberation Organization, with attention from Al-Shukeiri, so that the Palestinian Writers Union would be one of the pillars
00:02:35translation and extensions and bases of the Palestine Liberation Organization,
00:02:39and global meaning. Yes, I mean, this line of Palestine, across ascending the long path of great
00:02:42writers who still leave us
00:02:46all Palestinian the lasting legacy of the founding battalion,
00:02:49the late Kamal Nasser and Naji Alloush, and
00:02:53also
00:02:55based on this many great names who left their mark. This
00:02:59honoring was for
00:03:02the present founders,
00:03:06we are about to launch front that Professor Dr. Samir Ishhad Al-Tamimi,
00:03:11befitting Palestine, culture and in conjunction with who left us this legacy and this heritage of struggle
00:03:14and giving. And
00:03:18also the great Professor
00:03:20Asaad
00:03:22Al-Asaad, Dr. Al-Mutawakkil Taha,
00:03:26the short story writer and novelist Mahmoud Shuqair, our master writer in
00:03:30Jerusalem, and
00:03:32Zaki Darwish from occupied
00:03:36now, and therefore there was established by the founders of Palestine in 1948, the brother of the poet Mahmoud Darwish, who was overshadowed by his proximity to Mahmoud Darwish, in addition
00:03:40to Tawfiq Fayyad, this neglected pigeon who presented a struggle and high
00:03:44and balanced culture,
00:03:47in addition
00:03:51and there, to Mohammed Nassar, by honoring whom we honor all writers
00:03:53and authors of Gaza
00:03:56in this who cling to its burning As I said once, sand with their hearts
00:03:59and write not on behalf of the writers of Palestine and their Arab
00:04:02depth, but on behalf of all free people in the world. Therefore, thanks
00:04:06are extended to the President for this continuous attention
00:04:09in this
00:04:10is being practiced today honoring, and to the Vice President,
00:04:15the camp, hoping that our my brother Hussein Al-Sheikh Abu everything that is happening in Jihad, and to my brother
00:04:18have the ability to provide this Dr. Majdi Al-Khalidi and the General Supervisor of Official Media,
00:04:22my brother officials at the local Abu Qais Ahmed Assaf. This
00:04:26honoring is timely.
00:04:29And this is my question: What does this honoring mean for
00:04:32people in the world in defending writers and also for Palestinian culture? Honoring a writer
00:04:36while he is alive, such as these
00:04:37revered and high souls, is an honor for the entire Palestinian
00:04:40culture in the homeland and diaspora. And we tried
00:04:44expulsion from through also,
00:04:47I don't forget
00:04:51the writer and journalist Ahmed Abdel Rahman, who was also at the forefront
00:04:55of the honoring
00:04:58for your indulgence that I will not be polite in this gates in this in this context, and he is who he is in the Palestinian Revolution and the presidency of the Palestinian
00:05:02towards today, Writers and Journalists Union.
00:05:05from the ashes of legends Therefore, honoring ten founding writers is an honor for the entire Palestinian
00:05:09culture across the map of Palestine, homeland
00:05:12and diaspora. And it is an affirmation that culture is
00:05:16the last thing left after everything else falls, and we are in
00:05:19the fortress of culture, not defending Palestine and its
00:05:23narrative and its constants only, but
00:05:26defending the Arab context and the plundered ceiling of Arabism.
00:05:29Yes, moving towards the free people of the world, because Palestine
00:05:33is the pride of the universe and the secret of the Arab world, and it is the vanguard
00:05:37that has been able, since the beginning of the century, to
00:05:40establish culture, awareness,
00:05:43culture in preserving the Palestinian national identity. Therefore, how
00:05:47does Palestinian culture today embody
00:05:50one of the forms of Palestinian narrative, and it is today
00:05:54a very important
00:05:57part
00:05:59of
00:06:02the daily Palestinian events? The Palestinian narrative has become,
00:06:06one can say, a global event,
00:06:09addressed by everyone
00:06:12abroad, whether international media or others.
00:06:16Therefore, the importance of the Palestinian national
00:06:19narrative today, and how Palestinian
00:06:22culture embodies one of the forms of resistance and a part of the Palestinian narrative?
00:06:26Palestine's spilled and shed blood, which
00:06:29is a palm for palms, extends its reach
00:06:33to all corners of the
00:06:35earth to announce the existence of liberation
00:06:39for this dear and precious country,
00:06:42and for the Palestinian people to take their right based on their history, memory,
00:06:46and identity in the face
00:06:48of the opposing occupation
00:06:51and its media and deceptive
00:06:54falsehoods. From here, this honoring concluded
00:06:58with His Excellency the President, that he would present
00:07:01the heavy burden of the friend Dr. Mufid Arquob
00:07:04with the great Palestinian narrative to represent
00:07:07the entire institution and to represent
00:07:11many groups that have tried
00:07:14and are still trying to write the Palestinian
00:07:17narrative in more than 600 pages of
00:07:21large format. He presented the great Palestinian narrative
00:07:24to the President as an achievement for the General Union of Palestinian
00:07:27Writers and Authors, and as a dedication to this
00:07:31comprehensive, aesthetic, and collective
00:07:34author who was able, during three years and six months,
00:07:38to close the door of his house from evening until morning
00:07:41to complete, document,
00:07:44narrative carried by the details, effects,
00:07:47history, memory, land, and stone, and all
00:07:50the evidence in deconstructing the Zionist narrative
00:07:54and to respond to all these falsehoods with evidence,
00:07:57proofs, and testimonies on
00:08:01the land of gazelles and purple. Therefore, this
00:08:04narrative comes within the framework of what the General Union of Palestinian
00:08:07Writers and Authors is working on to unify
00:08:10Palestinian culture in the homeland, ascending towards the Arab world
00:08:14to reach the global cultural
00:08:18in affirmation of the resistant Palestinian
00:08:22Palestinian diplomacy that is engaged with the occupying
00:08:26adversary, because at this bitter moment, we are subjected
00:08:30not only to the shaping of consciousness but to the melting
00:08:33of consciousness and the dispossession of Palestinian consciousness. They want
00:08:37to erase geography and also to hollow out history,
00:08:40but with the strength of history and the resistant Palestinian culture that
00:08:46the first battalion, who wrote with their hot
00:08:49ink and with their blood,
00:08:52like Hanna Maqbool, who said, "With blood we write for Palestine" in the founding of the Writers Union in 1972,
00:08:56and two months before the founding, the fighting
00:09:00hero Ghassan Kanafani was martyred,
00:09:03and then Majed Abu Sharar and Ali
00:09:07Fouda and Hani Jawhariya and many
00:09:11others who fell were martyred
00:09:14to ascend by assassination by Golda
00:09:17Meir's decision. Therefore, where does the Writers
00:09:20and Authors Union stand today? What
00:09:24are the most prominent challenges facing this union today?
00:09:28In fact, thank you for the patience of the President and the Vice President
00:09:31and the attendees who were on a space
00:09:35of stable space
00:09:38that we always say that the intellectual is the first to be killed and the last to
00:09:42die. And he is the one who guards the dream from erosion,
00:09:45and he is steadfast on the constants of this Palestine, its fire,
00:09:48and its confrontation. Therefore, there is no alternative to freedom except more of
00:09:52it. Therefore, the freedom of Palestinian intellectuals
00:09:55is boundless. The freedom of Palestinian intellectuals is
00:09:58essential in that they have offered, throughout these years, throughout a century
00:10:02from Noah's ark until this moment, all contexts
00:10:05of creativity and testimonies and vanguards
00:10:08from our writers and authors
00:10:11who wrote with the ink of their blood in Gaza are still giving
00:10:15the world a great lesson in the meaning of heroism.
00:10:18Therefore, I offer my condolences for the martyrs of Palestinian
00:10:22culture who were subjected to genocide, intellectuals, journalists,
00:10:25and academics in the hundreds. But
00:10:29the ink of their blood is still giving us this glowing
00:10:33context. Therefore, the challenge is great for intellectuals
00:10:36at this moment, against all those who
00:10:40try to dispossess their consciousness
00:10:43from opposing contexts and from
00:10:46speakers from their pockets and beneficiaries of others,
00:10:50because the true intellectual does not rent
00:10:53a heart or a pen, and even if he objects,
00:10:56disagrees, and strives, he strives under
00:11:00the ceiling of the country and the ceiling of Palestine that accommodates all of us. Therefore,
00:11:03intellectuals must cling, once again, with their hearts
00:11:07and souls to the burning land of Palestine,
00:11:10which is its secret and the secret of the earth to
00:11:14heaven, and its highest, most precious, purest, and most enduring message,
00:11:17not to rent their pens for ill-gotten political money,
00:11:20nor to be directed by
00:11:23some
00:11:26institutions and some
00:11:28deconstructionists, and I don't say thinkers, who
00:11:32target consciousness in Palestine and target the Palestine
00:11:35Liberation Organization and target Palestinian culture by distorting,
00:11:39twisting, and falsifying it. And I say
00:11:42to Palestinian intellectuals that they may eat
00:11:45themselves from extreme hunger,
00:11:48but they have not eaten from others' pots,
00:11:51meaning a free woman starves rather than eats
00:11:55from her breasts. And this culture is considered
00:11:59little because it is expansive and comprehensive, and because it is carried by the greatest
00:12:02secret of this Palestine and by the high,
00:12:06luxuriant, shady, and extended power of its culture.
00:12:10Therefore, we, as intellectuals, still believe that we are on
00:12:14the forefront of culture and confrontation, and this is a responsibility.
00:12:17We are advancing an initiative to deconstruct
00:12:21the occupying narrative, relying on a cherished
00:12:25and precious legacy that was laid down by the masters
00:12:29and gave us all this momentum and reach. And here I send greetings
00:12:34writers and authors, whom we include in this day in
00:12:37the preparatory committee in Egypt for the purpose of
00:12:41establishing a branch of the Writers Union in Egypt, after we finished
00:12:44with the Syrian branch. Towards Lebanon, at the end of the month, we will
00:12:48establish this branch to have
00:12:51harmony and unity for Palestinian
00:12:54culture between the homeland and the diaspora. The General Union
00:12:58of Writers and Authors, and I say to Palestinian intellectuals
00:13:01that the complete and comprehensive
00:13:04this map in the homeland, along with
00:13:07our colleagues, writers and authors, who are subjected to
00:13:10displacement and to bitter,
00:13:13deadly, painful, and hungry exiles
00:13:17and need, and all forms of displacement, estrangement,
00:13:20and dispossession, we have a responsibility to pay attention to them.
00:13:23From here came the activation of the branches
00:13:27to unify the narrative, to be united as one
00:13:31man, to shoot from the same bow a single meaning
00:13:36a high and balanced culture that does not accept
00:13:39diminution or shrinkage, because it is as complete
00:13:42as the call of the martyrs, prisoners, wounded,
00:13:46and exiles, in a full return
00:13:49to the entire land. This is the responsibility of the Palestinian
00:13:52intellectual, who is strategically
00:13:55positioned to establish and stand firm on the certainties
00:13:59of Palestine and the strategy
00:14:02of the organic intellectual who critically transcends
00:14:06the self-serving intellectual who speaks from his pocket
00:14:09and extends the thread
00:14:12of benefit from here because this Palestine
00:14:15only accepts an intellectual
00:14:19who continues to carry this banner high to present to
00:14:22generations that we are on
00:14:30one path. One could say, in light of this fierce war on the Gaza Strip and what
00:14:35on the West Bank, what is the role of Palestinian
00:14:37culture in clarifying these
00:14:41two matters? One could say,
00:14:44the intellectual, as I said, has a great responsibility,
00:14:47and the true intellectual
00:14:49is the seer of the tribe, who
00:14:52foresees and ponders
00:14:55the future and looks with his heart and soul
00:14:58in order to announce
00:15:01and warn in a way that befits this
00:15:05country that is subjected, as I said, to
00:15:09history, and erasing geography, and separating
00:15:13Gaza from the West Bank, and turning the West Bank into isolated enclaves, more than
00:15:161300 checkpoints and electronic
00:15:21homeland, turning the homeland into a large prison, just as Gaza
00:15:25has become a large grave. But
00:15:30and from this increasing rubble,
00:15:34the blood of the Palestinian intellectual
00:15:37rises
00:15:40the spearhead in the confrontation
00:15:43and the vanguard that will not be a bridge of normalization with the Arab
00:15:47world, but a bridge of communication to mobilize all
00:15:50cultural energies in Palestine, the Arab world, and the world.
00:15:54And this gathering of the energies of the free
00:15:58people of the world is aimed at Palestine
00:16:01and its cause, its justice, and its complete freedom from
00:16:05the evil of the occupation. And what Palestinian intellectuals are doing,
00:16:08what the General Union is doing in its activities in this world
00:16:11in all arenas and spaces to attract intellectuals
00:16:14and institutions. And during the past two years, we hosted the International
00:16:18Writers' Gathering, headquartered in Russia. We hosted
00:16:21the All-Africa Union, with more than 54 countries.
00:16:24We hosted the BRICS Writers' Association.
00:16:27We hosted major publishing houses
00:16:30from Athens and Greece
00:16:34from different places so that we can be. Everyone who comes
00:16:38to Palestine will write a different text because they will see
00:16:41the truth that the occupation prevents
00:16:44them from seeing. Therefore, we are concerned with conveying
00:16:47Palestine to the world as much as we can and conveying the world to Palestine.
00:16:53the President that since the beginning of the century,
00:16:57Palestinian writers, authors, and translators were the ones
00:17:00who carried and translated all the world's literature
00:17:03into Arabic. Therefore, it is illogical
00:17:07that after so long, there is no translation institution. And the President
00:17:10blessed this matter so that we can undertake the task of translating
00:17:14Palestinian literature and narrative, which is carried by
00:17:17history, memory, heritage, and legacy,
00:17:19and testimonies and effects,
00:17:23to the world, and translate Palestinian literature because this occupation
00:17:26spends 10 times and more than
00:17:29the Arab world on translation. Therefore, there are new projects for
00:17:32the Writers' Union,
00:17:36foremost of which is translation. And
00:17:39foremost of which is to write about Palestine
00:17:42with an unswerving tongue and with an unhired
00:17:46pen
00:17:50and with hearts
00:17:54but are pure from the evil of this occupation, because
00:17:57we have a great responsibility. We do not write for
00:18:02art for art's sake. Writing in the world is with cold ink. Writing in
00:18:06Palestine is with blood. This will be focused on in the coming period.
00:18:10As I told you at the beginning,
00:18:13because we are at the forefront of this matter since the beginning
00:18:16of the century. After a century, we must
00:18:19re-energize all translation efforts and attract
00:18:24translators in the homeland and diaspora.
00:18:27And with us are Arab translators and translators from the world
00:18:30to convey the suffering of Palestine
00:18:33and its immense, overwhelming,
00:18:36opulent, and wounding pain
00:18:40to all parts of the world, to educate about what Palestinian intellectuals
00:18:43are subjected to and what the Palestinian people are subjected to, and what
00:18:46is subjected to, what is subjected to, the heroic writers in Palestine are subjected to deletion,
00:18:50erasure, and cancellation. Therefore, translation
00:18:53and reverse translation through what we have done with more than
00:18:5620 agreements in the world with major Arab and international
00:19:00institutions and federations, we need to convey. How
00:19:03will this be done internationally?
00:19:07Through the relations we have built, and as
00:19:11I said, there is the global cultural front whose foundations were laid
00:19:14by the General Union and my colleagues in the General Secretariat and all free people
00:19:18with us, writers and creators in Palestine, from
00:19:20original writers who
00:19:23are still writing with their
00:19:26hot ink to convey this narrative. Therefore,
00:19:30we, through these relations, through the global cultural front, through
00:19:34the Palestine International Poetry Prize with the World Poetry Movement in
00:19:38Colombia, which will be launched soon after we announced
00:19:41it in the past months, we can
00:19:44attract all pens and introduce Palestine
00:19:48and gather all voices that wrote during the genocide
00:19:51that I call the catastrophe because language failed
00:19:54to describe what happened in Gaza, so I said that it was a catastrophe,
00:19:58bitter and dark, leaving
00:20:02nothing behind, that befell our people and our great nation, who represent
00:20:06the plundered Arab ceiling and all free
00:20:09the desired freedom. And freedom in the world is incomplete unless
00:20:13the freedom of Palestine and its people is complete. Today, we know that the world is moving
00:20:17towards electronic digitization. And what you talked about
00:20:20is very important, which is the translation of literary works.
00:20:24One could say, the Palestinian heritage internationally.
00:20:27Therefore, how can we balance
00:20:30or balance between
00:20:33electronic digitization that
00:20:36the world is moving
00:20:39and disseminating this Palestinian heritage
00:20:43and ensuring its reach to the entire
00:20:47international community? We will benefit from all
00:20:50institutions, and the Supreme Council for Translation
00:20:54and Culture in Egypt and in various Arab countries and in
00:20:57the world, and specialized translation institutions
00:21:00to ensure integration and the signing of a cooperation
00:21:05the access of this heritage, this legacy, and these
00:21:09cultural and creative contributions
00:21:11of our writers and authors to
00:21:14the world, establishing the meaning
00:21:18of Palestine, glorious
00:21:20and dazzling in various contexts. The issue of digitization is an important
00:21:24extension in delivering this matter, in addition to writers participating in
00:21:27Arab and international book fairs.
00:21:31So these are detailed,
00:21:34complementary contexts
00:21:37diplomacy engaged with the opponent through popular
00:21:41cultural diplomacy carried out by intellectuals
00:21:45through their cultural and creative contributions
00:21:48and their intellectual and creative output to reach all parts of the world.
00:21:51The countries you will target,
00:21:55from the last
00:21:58two years, in fact, the General
00:22:01Union reached from Cuba to Venezuela to
00:22:05Nicaragua to Colombia to Brazil.
00:22:08And soon a book translated from
00:22:11Portuguese will be published after signing a cooperation agreement with the Brazilian Writers Union
00:22:14to include 66
00:22:18male and female writers from the Gaza Strip, translated
00:22:21into Portuguese, in addition
00:22:25to Russia, in addition to South Africa, also in this communication
00:22:28and honors that were granted. And here I say that
00:22:31during ten years, thanks to the President, the General
00:22:35Union, with its recommendations, granted more than
00:22:3750 medals of culture,
00:22:41science, and arts, Palestinian, Arab, and international,
00:22:44for Palestine to say to those who stood by it,
00:22:47to those who supported it, thank
00:22:50you and great gratitude. This gratitude is due
00:22:54because Palestine attracts love
00:22:58and the freedom of the world to its right
00:23:01and its truth, and also it stands and speaks
00:23:05with its heart, its soul, its conscience, and the heroism
00:23:09and plains, and all this heavenly dust. Thank you
00:23:13to those who stood with Palestine, and loyalty is only repaid with loyalty, and loyalty to the free.
00:23:16Yes, and based on the countries you
00:23:20mentioned, regarding what was published in these
00:23:24countries, the results of this publication so far, your observations. We cannot
00:23:28truly count the number of
00:23:32poems and what the World Poetry Movement has done,
00:23:35with which we are in partnership, and we honored its great poet
00:23:39president, Fernando Rendón, who for more than 30 years has been
00:23:42making the flag of Palestine the first and last word
00:23:45at the Medellín International Poetry Festival. And we signed a cooperation agreement and honored him with the Order of
00:23:54Culture. We say that the World Poetry Movement,
00:23:58with what it announced during the war of extermination,
00:24:02thousands of poems were written
00:24:04in the world in different languages for Palestine.
00:24:08From here, translation is important, and from here,
00:24:11empowering the Translation House and the Supreme Council
00:24:14for Translation in Palestine to be this
00:24:18important extension to convey this suffering to and from
00:24:21Palestine, because what has been translated about Palestine must be
00:24:25conveyed to it and preserved in the Palestinian National Library
00:24:28and known in the Palestinian cultural scene. And what
00:24:31has been written about Palestine from here by writers, authors, creators,
00:24:35and thinkers, we must convey it to living
00:24:38languages so that we can inform the world
00:24:41about the Palestinian cause and confront all these falsehoods.
00:24:46year alone, this occupation spent
00:24:50700
00:24:52771 or 31, sorry,
00:24:56million dollars to counter the Palestinian
00:24:59narrative in America alone this year.
00:25:02Therefore, they are working
00:25:06through directed money, and through awards,
00:25:08and through conferences, and through what
00:25:12they are doing to support
00:25:15their distorted narrative in different places in the world
00:25:18and providing all these extensions and awards for
00:25:22this purpose. Therefore, we say that we must
00:25:26empower intellectuals and empower Palestinian
00:25:29culture and empower the official institution, because the Palestinian
00:25:33revolution, since its inception, whose high
00:25:37foundations were laid and whose vision was solidified
00:25:40and who supported the political and revolutionary narrative,
00:25:44are the intellectuals from Noah
00:25:47Ibrahim to the martyred poet and knight Abdel Rahim
00:25:51Mahmoud, to Kamal Nasser and, as I said, Ghassan Kanafani
00:25:54and Naji Alloush and Hanna Maqbool and Khaled Abu Khaled and Youssef
00:25:58Al-Khatib and Izz El-Din Al-Manasra and Mourid Barghouti and Irshad Abu
00:26:05Shawer and Tawfiq Fayyad and Walid Abu Bakr and
00:26:08a large number. This is concerning the exiles. As for the homeland, a continuous
00:26:14writers who left their
00:26:16creative contributions from which we, as new generations,
00:26:20draw. And this leads me to
00:26:22the next question. When we specifically recall
00:26:26the names of the founders, we talk about the most prominent
00:26:29achievements.
00:26:32I say that the wealth, and those who preserved the Palestinian
00:26:36national identity, are these writers
00:26:39and authors who, after the Nakba,
00:26:43spread and dispersed across all spans
00:26:46and spaces in the Arab world and the world,
00:26:50establishing and cultivating the narrative
00:26:53of Palestine and its culture. And those who remained
00:26:56in Palestine remained true to my covenant and Palestine's covenant,
00:26:59and those who remained in occupied Palestine, and these I
00:27:03call the elite of the anthem of writers and authors,
00:27:07refused to have their culture impregnated with anything other
00:27:10than the Arabic language, despite the internalization of defeat,
00:27:13in the words of Adel Samara, whose book "Under the Line of
00:27:1748" we will launch soon, and how the cultural
00:27:19elites were destroyed. Therefore,
00:27:23the intellectuals in Palestine are on the straight
00:27:26path of Palestine, and as I said, on its covenant
00:27:29and its meaning, and its overwhelming
00:27:32and high metaphor. And they continue
00:27:36to support their souls
00:27:40and they are still continuing this long journey until
00:27:43the desired freedom that befits Palestine on the completion of the map,
00:27:47and we announce the full return of our people,
00:27:50our nation, our writers, our creators,
00:27:54and our martyrs to return fully to
00:27:57Palestine in a way that befits its culture, history,
00:28:01heritage, and legacy. Therefore, the challenge is great.
00:28:03And my call to the intellectuals of Palestine is that your unity is obligatory,
00:28:07and organizing the Palestinian cultural
00:28:11house is obligatory, and that Palestinian culture is not just a street corner
00:28:14or a café here or there.
00:28:17Therefore, Palestinian culture is complete in the homeland.
00:28:20and the head of Gaza, martyrs, writers, innovators,
00:28:24and intellectuals. And in continuation with all
00:28:28our writers across this map, gathering
00:28:31and connecting all our writers in the diaspora
00:28:35and exiles to unite the saying on the line of
00:28:38Palestine and its great

00:39:15I mean, the needs of the people are a big challenge for us. It is a very
00:39:19important concern that we see before our eyes every moment, every moment. We consider the residents
00:39:23of the camp as an essential part of us,
00:39:26and we are an essential part of them. And we are in a position of responsibility, bearing
00:39:30all the responsibility related to them. Therefore, we
00:39:34communicate with all officials and relevant parties in order
00:39:37to provide all humanitarian
00:39:41relief needs, as my brother Marouf mentioned, specifically related
00:39:44to medical matters. There are many kidney,
00:39:48blood pressure, and diabetes patients, and elderly people who need medication
00:39:51constantly. There is a severe shortage of infant
00:39:54formula for children. Also, given that the unemployment rate
00:39:58was already high before this campaign, the economic situation of the people is deteriorating
00:40:02in all circumstances. There is no possibility
00:40:06for people to store food
00:40:09for long periods. They barely
00:40:12secure their daily bread day by day.
00:40:16Therefore, if this campaign continues, we will face
00:40:19a major challenge in how to provide all
00:40:23aspects of humanitarian relief to the residents.
00:40:27We deal with complete seriousness. We deal with utmost care
00:40:30and high responsibility, and we try to convey from among
00:40:34the rubble and from under this criminal
00:40:37and frantic military campaign
00:40:43voice will reach all
00:40:47level, at the Arab regional and international levels.
00:40:50Also, I mean, we want, I mean, I take this opportunity
00:40:54to address a message through your screen to this civilized
00:40:57world that claims to be civilized and that it is the democratic
00:41:00world and the free world, and we are in the era of digitalization
00:41:04and the era of artificial intelligence and the era of cyber security,
00:41:07and yet we see these frantic
00:41:10and insane campaigns that strive with all their might
00:41:14to implement the concept of ethnic cleansing
00:41:17that fills the minds, chests, and hearts of the right-wing
00:41:21extremists in the Israeli government. Perhaps
00:41:24our voice will reach some who still
00:41:27believe in the right of peoples to establish their state and some
00:41:31peoples who still, and some governments that still believe that every
00:41:35human being has the right to establish their state on their national
00:41:38soil, like other countries in the whole world,
00:41:41like other peoples of the world who strive to achieve
00:41:45their freedom with dignity without any
00:41:47exposure to this
00:41:51dealing, just because the Palestinian people still
00:41:54cling to their land and their principles, no matter
00:41:57the circumstances. Yes, Mr. Marouf Al-Rifai, I mean,
00:42:00how will these events
00:42:04specifically affect in general and daily life?
00:42:08بشكل عام وعلى الحياه اليوميه
00:42:14to workplaces, preventing
00:42:17Even the shops located on both sides of the road connecting Jerusalem
00:42:21and Ramallah were forced to close their shops.
00:42:24Therefore, as my brother Abu Saeed said, there is a crisis
00:42:28even in obtaining food from stores.
00:42:31Journalists were brutally and unprecedentedly
00:42:35attacked to prevent this
00:42:38image from reaching international public opinion. There was
00:42:41a physical assault on one of the journalistic crews,
00:42:45and sound bombs and gas bombs were fired
00:42:49at the journalists present at the gate of
00:42:53Qalandia camp. Even public cars
00:42:56and private cars that were passing in front of
00:42:59the camp were stopped and their identities were checked.
00:43:03I mean, life is difficult, and you know that if
00:43:06you allow me, you mentioned journalists and also cars.
00:43:09What about medical and ambulance crews?
00:43:12And we know that they face
00:43:15two difficulties, I mean, always if there is an incident
00:43:19in any area, ambulance cars or ambulance
00:43:23vehicles are directly targeted by the Israeli
00:43:26occupation forces. Therefore, what about
00:43:29ambulance cars? Does the Israeli occupation allow
00:43:32them to enter, or as usual, does it
00:43:35attack them? I mean, yesterday, my sister Dana,
00:43:39the arrival of ambulance vehicles was hindered from entering
00:43:42Qalandia camp to evacuate some medical cases and even
00:43:46some cases that were assaulted by the occupation soldiers.
00:43:50But today, with the intervention of our brothers in the Civil
00:43:53Liaison and the Palestinian Military Liaison, the Red Crescent's
00:43:56mission was facilitated to evacuate more than
00:43:5911 cases to Ramallah hospitals,
00:44:02and also Red Crescent vehicles were used
00:44:06to deliver some food supplies, especially bread and some
00:44:09medicines, to the besieged families inside
00:44:12Qalandia camp. And I want to
00:44:16address, through you and through Palestine TV, our brothers in the Red Crescent
00:44:19and our brothers in the Palestinian Military and Civil Liaison for
00:44:23their response and their great cooperation. I mean, 24 hours a day, we
00:44:27are in constant contact with them in order to provide
00:44:30everything we can for the trapped families and the besieged
00:44:33families inside, I mean,
00:44:35direction
00:44:38and thanks to these crews, I will address this question to
00:44:41Muhammad Aslan, and, I mean,
00:44:44in your opinion, what are the most prominent urgent
00:44:47needs that the residents of
00:44:51Qalandia camp and also Kafr
00:44:54Aqab need? I mean, the urgent basic issues are medicines,
00:44:58especially medicines for the elderly, medicines for children, infant
00:45:02formula, also food supplies, as my brother
00:45:05Marouf mentioned, that there is a severe shortage of food supplies
00:45:09because commercial centers are already closed
00:45:13since the beginning of the invasion until
00:45:16is no, I mean, any available space for the besieged
00:45:19families to obtain the minimum of their needs of
00:45:23food supplies, bread, milk, and cheese that
00:45:26meet the minimum food security for them in these
00:45:30difficult circumstances. I mean, we appeal to all
00:45:33levels, at the humanitarian level, at the relief
00:45:36level, to intervene to curb this
00:45:40aggression that seeks to thwart everything that is Palestinian, seeks
00:45:44to, I mean, I mean,
00:45:47to scatter Palestinian blood on all the mountains and on all the crossroads. This is a very
00:45:51painful issue to see children in need of
00:45:54milk and you do not
00:45:58milk. To have a family that needs, I mean,
00:46:01a small amount of bread to satisfy their hunger and you do not
00:46:04have the ability, I mean, to meet that. So, I mean, this
00:46:08is a criminal
00:46:10occupation that wants us to kneel, wants us to surrender, but its
00:46:14actions have failed. The Palestinian people are determined to
00:46:17adhere to their steadfastness and resilience, no matter
00:46:20the circumstances, no matter the difficulties and no matter
00:46:23the obstacles. Yes, Mr. Marouf, what is the role of institutions
00:46:26today and the necessity for national
00:46:29institutions and the private sector to intervene to support the steadfastness
00:46:33of citizens? I mean, my sister Dana, I mean, I ask
00:46:38regard. What our brothers in Qalandia
00:46:42camp and Kafr Aqab area are subjected to is a war
00:46:45in the literal sense of the word. Therefore, I
00:46:48wonder, where is the Department of Palestinian Refugees in the Palestine Liberation Organization,
00:46:52for which Qalandia camp is part of its duties?
00:46:55Where is UNRWA, and it is also
00:46:59responsible for.
