00:01:07of from nearly month-long trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran. I
00:01:11of traveled
00:01:11of there at the beginning of July to attend the historic funeral
00:01:14of the martered leader of Iran's Islamic
00:01:16a Revolution, grand Ali Khamenei. Unexpectedly, I
00:01:20stayed longer than originally
00:01:22of planned. While I
00:01:23was in Iran, I had the opportunity to speak to various interesting people, some of whom
00:01:27I interviewed for this show, and those
00:01:29of episodes will be... coming soon. Later in this show you'll
00:01:32of hear from journalist and anti-imperialist activist Calo Walsh, who was also in
00:01:36Iran for the funeral. But
00:01:38of first, I want to share some of my own reflections about the trip.
00:01:42My time in Iran began with my attendance at the
00:01:44a largest funeral in history for the matar imam Khamini. It
00:01:48was a deeply emotional, spiritual, and I must say,
00:01:52of beautiful experience to be among millions upon millions of people all
00:01:56gathered for the same purpose. I had
00:01:58of the opportunity to visit the Imam.
00:02:01with the blessed bodies of Imam Khamenei and his family members who were martered alongside
00:02:05him lay in state. day and
00:02:08of night of a continuous throng of people flooded into the masalah to catch a glimpse
00:02:12of their coffins
00:02:13in and of on the 5th of July to participate in the first
00:02:16a funeral of prayer. it was a great blessing for me to be able to stand
00:02:20and participate in that prayer. the next day I joined a
00:02:24huge procession in Tehran accompaning Imam Khamenei's body through the
00:02:27city. millions of people gathered in streets under the blistering sun to
00:02:31give their
00:02:33a farewell. Let's look at the short report that I filmed that day. I just had the
00:02:37opportunity to get very close to the coffin. I was about
00:02:41two meters away and emits all the people it
00:02:45of a of was of impossible to move more than a couple of inches a time. It took
00:02:49of me of around 30 minutes just to get out from the immediate
00:02:53vicinity
00:02:54of of the coffin which is now making its way towards
00:02:58this area.
00:02:59of Well, of course it is. very slowly with the streets absolutely
00:03:03packed full of people, it
00:03:05of was got wrenching to be able
00:03:07of to see the coffin
00:03:09of the one who I thought one day perhaps I would pray behind,
00:03:13perhaps I would catch a glimpse of his smile a
00:03:17sermon that he was delivering and said we were seeing his coffin,
00:03:21that of his 14 month old granddaughter and his other family
00:03:24members being marched through Tahan, there are
00:03:28people
00:03:29in a deep. states of morning, crying, beating
00:03:33their chess,
00:03:34of but of also there is a strong sense of defiance. there are
00:03:37thousands upon thousands of red flags being carried, that is
00:03:41the red flag of revenge and plenty of placards, not just in
00:03:45Persian, but also in English, calling for revenge
00:03:49against the US president Donald Trump and against the Prime
00:03:52Minister
00:03:53of the Zionist entity, Benyamin Netanyahu. People are
00:03:57chanting death to America, death to Israel, even heard
00:04:00death to Britain, people's antipathy and indeed righteous anger
00:04:04and hatred against the United States of America and the
00:04:08Zionist entity cannot be disputed. What all
00:04:12of this demonstrates, yes again, is the power
00:04:14of the Shia Islamic morning tradition, in which grief,
00:04:18sadness and tears are not
00:04:20of signs of weakness, but in fact are signs of strength,
00:04:23faith, resilience and capacity to keep going and
00:04:27to keep fighting after. funeral procession in Tehran,
00:04:31I visited the Holy City of Mashad in the northeast
00:04:34of the country, home to the shrine of Imam
00:04:36of Radha, Shia Islam's Eighth
00:04:38of Imam. It was within that shrine that Imam Khamenei's body was laid to rest
00:04:42alongside his martered family
00:04:44of members, following an enormous funeral procession that filled the city
00:04:47streets. The expansive, enchanting and beautiful
00:04:50shrine is fitting final resting place for towering
00:04:54personality, whose concrete contributions, not
00:04:57in of of just to the
00:04:57of Islamic world, but also across the globe, will be... felt for generations to
00:05:02of come. of After the funeral, I spent more time exploring and enjoying the beauty of
00:05:05Iran. As a great lover of Iranian carpets, I was
00:05:09in particularly delighted to visit Tahran's Grand Bazar to see some
00:05:12of the... fine examples of Iranian artistry and handicrafts on
00:05:15display. I also visited many of Tahran's beautiful cafes.
00:05:19At various times watching World Cup matches alongside Iranians whose
00:05:23love for the game was clear despite the despicable treatment their own team
00:05:27received from FIFA and the United States. One the places I was
00:05:31overwhelmed to finally visit was the Holy City of Qum just south of
00:05:35Tehran which hosts the shrine of Saidah Fatima, the
00:05:38daughter the seventh Imam of Shia Islam Imam Musa al-Kazim. and
00:05:42the sister of Imam Radha who was buried in mashad. I offered my
00:05:46salutations upon this great personality whose shrine is visited by
00:05:50millions of people from around the world every year. While I was in
00:05:54QuM I stopped by Jam Qaran mosque, huge complex on the
00:05:57outskirts the city, which is believed to have been built on instructions from
00:06:01Imam Mahdi, Shia Islam's awaited savior and 12th
00:06:04Imam. And before I left Kom, I saw the ruins the assembly of
00:06:08experts building and I filmed a short report there. I'm...
00:06:12outside the majlist, the assembly
00:06:16of experts, which has many constitutional roles in Iran, but one the most
00:06:20important is electing the leader the
00:06:24Islamic Revolution, it's a 88 member council
00:06:27composed of learned and noble scholars and on the 3rd of March
00:06:312026, the vicious genocidal zionist
00:06:35regime acting on faulty intelligence tried to blow
00:06:38up and kill all of those 88 members the... counsel
00:06:42as they gathered to elect a new leader in the wake the martterdom
00:06:46ofini who was killed just few
00:06:49days before, but thankfully their intelligence was wrong, but the entire
00:06:53building was raised
00:06:54to the ground and damage was caused to neighboring buildings as well. the
00:06:58counter was able to meet just few days later and they elected the new leader
00:07:02of Iran's Islamic Revolution, Ayatullah Sayid Mujtaba
00:07:05Khamenei, successfully thwarting the enemy's plans
00:07:09and actually ensuring that the phrase...
00:07:16is the leader continues to be one the many slogans
00:07:20the Islamic Revolution. Back in Tehran,
00:07:24I attended some the nightly demonstrations at Inqalab Square where millions of
00:07:28people have gathered since the third imposed war began on the 28th of
00:07:31February. The demonstrators expressed their support for the war effort,
00:07:35carrying red flags in call for revenge against Trump and Netanyahu,
00:07:39highlighting their righteous and ceaseless anger at the killing... of Imam
00:07:43Khamenei and the aggression that the Zionis have launched against Iran.
00:07:46In one of my final nights in Tahran, I visited Tabiat Bridge, where an
00:07:50open-air exhibition was being held called unfinished homework,
00:07:54dedicated to the more than 400 children matured as result the
00:07:58recent US sinust aggression against the country, including Imam Khamenei's
00:08:02granddaughter and the school children of Minab. It was
00:08:05poinnant reminder the enemy's sick brutality and the scale of
00:08:09sacrifice endured by the Iranian people. The... many other
00:08:12vignetes from my time in the Islamic Republic of Iran, but I want to conclude my
00:08:16reflections by saying that Iran is a deeply misunderstood and underestimated
00:08:20nation, and I encourage those with an open mind to visit the country and to
00:08:24learn about it for themselves, as well as to experience the richness of its
00:08:27landscapes, architecture, cuisine, people and
00:08:31culture. I'd also caution the warmongers in the west that if
00:08:35it wasn't clear already, Iran and its people are not easy
00:08:38targets, their three thousand year old civilization, their Islamic revolution.
00:08:42Ethos and their resolved to be free, sovereign and independent runs
00:08:46deep and strong. They've already landed many defeats
00:08:50against the US sionist empire, and they will continue to do
00:08:54so. And with that, let's turn to the interview that I
00:08:57conducted with Kyla Walsh. Kala is a journalist and
00:09:00anti-imperalist activist, originally from the United States and she now
00:09:04works with vocal politics in Lebanon. Just recently, she became the
00:09:08target of letter to the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, and the US
00:09:11attorney. written by Jewish zionist US congressman Randy
00:09:15Fine. The letter called a traiter and terrorist, asking
00:09:19for her to be potentially executed for attending Imam Khamenei's
00:09:23funeral. I give Kala my full solidarity in the face of
00:09:27such barbaric threats. Let's watch the interview
00:09:30now. Kala, thank you very much for joining me
00:09:34on attrition today here in the Islamic Republic of Iran. It's
00:09:38so great to be on the show in person with you and to be in Iran with you, although I
00:09:42wish you... could be here under better circumstances. Kala, we've
00:09:45witnessed the historic, momentous funeral
00:09:49the martered leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution. Sayid
00:09:53Ali Husseini Khamenei. What have been your impressions the
00:09:57funeral and have you been surprised by the size of it and the
00:10:00turnout? I think I did expect there to be huge turnout. I mean
00:10:04everyone was saying before it started that this would be the biggest
00:10:07funeral in history the world or one them, and I think it certainly
00:10:11beat that record. Uh, what especially surprised me, I guess, was
00:10:15that 10 million are estimated to have attended in
00:10:19Iraq, a country that was uh, a US-backed war,
00:10:23imposed war on Iran, uh, just... few decades ago, I think that is
00:10:26absolutely incredible, the solidarity between the Iranian and
00:10:30adaqi peoples. I've never been in crowd this
00:10:34large in my entire life. It's impossible to put into words. I
00:10:37don't think it's something I will process for
00:10:40years, and just to see people
00:10:44of all ages of all walks of life, men,
00:10:47women, people of different races, even people of different religious
00:10:51backgrounds, sobbing, crying for say come and...
00:10:55uh, he wasn't just this head of state or this figure head that
00:10:59the western media pants him to be, he was the father of this
00:11:03nation, he was the father of an uma, and he was
00:11:07the father of all anti-imperialist people around the world who -
00:11:11support the resistance who are struggling for liberation, and so
00:11:14people are crying as if they lost their own father.
00:11:18you said lot there about how mini resonates with people
00:11:22a general level, wanted to ask you, "what did Said
00:11:26Ali Khamenei mean to you and what do you think that the
00:11:29left in western nations can learn from his life?
00:11:33I think people on the left who, as we've spoken about
00:11:37before, have this fetishism of secularism, who
00:11:41refused to take any religious perspective seriously, write
00:11:45his work, his thought off all together, or maybe they only support him
00:11:48as a militant, but not actually for his thought and his
00:11:52contributions to revolution." revolutionary theory,
00:11:56anti-imperialist theory, and I think simply we have to
00:12:00read what he wrote. I mean, for me, reading what he
00:12:03wrote about say the movement in the US, his his work was truly
00:12:07universal, but he also spoke about so many different nations, different
00:12:11struggles outside of Iran, whether is Africa, Latin America. He
00:12:15addressed several letters to the western youth uh in regards the
00:12:19Black Lives Matter movement back in 2014, and then also during the
00:12:22Gaza solidarity encampments. addressing the western youth,
00:12:26supporting their struggle, recognizing that people in the west who support
00:12:30Palestine who are against empire also repressed by their own
00:12:34regimes, which is incredible hand of solidarity to extend to
00:12:38people a country that has been bombing and sanctioning your country and
00:12:41eventually assassinated you, so we've been extended
00:12:45this this hand of solidarity, of partnership
00:12:49in resistance, and so I think it's really worth listening to the words of Sad
00:12:53Khamene uh reading his works and
00:12:57understanding the universalism of his message and how he was this
00:13:00leader for all anti-imperialist people around the
00:13:04worlds. Kala, you will have seen, as I
00:13:07have, countless placards, thousands them
00:13:11saying, "kill Trump, death to trump, we will kill
00:13:14Trump, variants of that kind." It seems that the Iranian
00:13:18people have spoken when it comes to what they consider to be a just
00:13:21resolution to the crime the...
00:13:27what do you think the responsibility is the people in the
00:13:31United States when it comes to
00:13:34meaningfully holding to account the US president Donald
00:13:38Trump? well, one, I think the chance, death to
00:13:41America, kill Trump, I think those are moderate stances at
00:13:45this point. I think that is like the most basic stance we could have,
00:13:49if we are against genocide, if we are against wars of aggression, if we are against
00:13:53global empire, 'of course we should be uh
00:13:57opposed to the existence the US empire as it is, and
00:14:01of course, it's completely logical for people whose leader was
00:14:04assassinated by Trump to want Trump's blood. um, I mean, what could
00:14:08you possibly expect, how could Trump be surprised by this?
00:14:12um, I think Iranians, whatever they chant,
00:14:16Margbar Amerika, uh, of course,
00:14:19you know, the Zionist, imperialist media in the west freaks
00:14:23out, but truly they've always emphasized so much, and there's direct
00:14:27quotes from Imam Khumeini, Imam Khamenei, about this, they don't
00:14:30mean all the people in the US, they mean the system of global
00:14:34arrogance and oppression and genocide,
00:14:37and as I said before, they've always recognized that there are
00:14:41struggles for liberation within the US, whether it's black people, whether
00:14:45it's indigenous people, they recognize how the US was founded upon genocide and
00:14:49chattle slavery, and that there are people fighting for their liberation in the
00:14:53US, and I think we also see this with the brilliant
00:14:56communication uh by Iranian military units during the war, mean
00:15:00dedicating missiles to the victims of epistene
00:15:03island to Alex Preddy and Rene Good who were killed in ice
00:15:06shootings, to black revolutionaries like tupac, they have this deep
00:15:10deep understanding of us culture, society that the
00:15:14US leadership obviously does not have as it regards Iran,
00:15:17because if they had understood Iran, they would not have thought they could win this
00:15:21war a couple days or a couple weeks, you...
00:15:25from leftest political background, what does
00:15:29the left in white western nations have to learn
00:15:33from Shia Islam when it comes to combatting Jewish
00:15:36supremacism? and genocidal American war
00:15:39crimes? I think we need to
00:15:42engage with Islamic and especially Shia Islamic
00:15:45Liberation theology, not just in
00:15:49supporting the militancy, but also engaging in study the
00:15:53thought and ideology. I think there is so much to learn from, as it
00:15:57pertains to how leftist movements, particularly western leftist
00:16:01movements have failed. I mean, something I think about lot in
00:16:04regards to Iran is how far
00:16:06it is in the... trajectory of its revolution, it's
00:16:09been uh 50 years and at that point in
00:16:13say soviet history or Chinese history, there had been
00:16:16revisionism, like there had been kind of a condemnation the
00:16:20revolution's own history, its past leaders, there had been a walking
00:16:24back of its support for militant liberation
00:16:27movements abroad, there had been just this focus on building socialism in
00:16:31one country, and Iran, I think why
00:16:34it is so successful is one, it has... ever engaged in
00:16:38such historical revisionism, and again, I'm not underminding the important
00:16:41role Russia and China play now in in making
00:16:45Iran's uh military, it's economy possible in terms
00:16:48the global like economic delinking from US imperialism, but if we're
00:16:52talking about building revolutionary state that is supporting broader liberation
00:16:56movements, Iran has never walked back its support for the
00:17:00other axis of resistance, nations and movements, and I think that is huge
00:17:04key to why
00:17:05it is so successful now, it's could have just
00:17:08you know stop supporting Palestine, stop supporting Lebanon, the sanctions could have been
00:17:11lifted, and it never made that choice because in
00:17:15Iran, supporting the oppressed is required in the
00:17:18constitution, and I don't think there's a single other constitution on earth with such
00:17:22clause as it requires supporting uh the oppressed,
00:17:25and third, I think there is a really important aspect
00:17:29the resistance in Iran, in the
00:17:33hasseini tradition, in the tradition the battle of
00:17:36Karbala. where it is justified to
00:17:39resist, it is required to resist, even if you are the
00:17:42last man standing or last woman standing, whereas
00:17:47think a lot of western marxism is characterized by this constant
00:17:50delaying the responsibility of resistance, this constant waiting
00:17:54for the perfect material conditions, which when most people say that they mean waiting for the
00:17:58western working class to be organized, and when we look at the western working
00:18:02class,
00:18:03it is bought off by the breadcrumbs from imperialism, the breadcrumbs.
00:18:07from genocide, we can't understand the western working class, albeit oppressed by its
00:18:11own ruling class, we can't understand it without understanding how it was engineered and
00:18:15props up by imperialism, and so I think this constant
00:18:19deferral the responsibility to resist bears start
00:18:22contrast with the constant
00:18:25embrace the role of resistance,
00:18:29not as something to be feared, but as sacred duty, whether it ends in
00:18:33victory or marterdom, each is considered victory, and this
00:18:36understanding of of revolution as transcending one's own lifetime
00:18:40carried on generation, generation, generation. I think the
00:18:44western left, the movement as a whole, leftist movements as a whole have
00:18:47lot to learn from this, because the left has ultimately
00:18:51in almost every place in the world, put down its arms, stopped
00:18:55resisting, stop fighting, and that is frankly why it is irrelevant on the
00:18:59international scene today, and that is why Iran, the access of
00:19:02resistance stand as the forefront of global resistance to
00:19:06imperialism. and zionism and is this new poll the
00:19:10world that countries are gravitating towards and people are gravitating towards because of what it
00:19:14represents, and not just what it says, but what is what it has shown it is
00:19:18materially willing to do in sacrifice for liberation. i think that
00:19:22lot of what you said there has actually made me think about
00:19:25Venezuela uh and the treatury that's going on there
00:19:29now under the presidency of Delhi
00:19:32Rodriguez and the comparison of course between the Islamic Republic of
00:19:36Iran and... Venezuela, Venezuela, which has
00:19:40really not put up a fight when it comes to counter
00:19:43revolution, following the removal of
00:19:47Nicholas Maduro, someone I consider to be hero as the president of
00:19:50Venezuela, someone who was deeply aligned with the resistance alongside his
00:19:54predecessor Hugo Chavez, and now we see Delti
00:19:57Rodriguez uh, among her the many things that she has
00:20:01done, now welcoming in officials from
00:20:05the Israel occupation forces. to help when it comes to
00:20:09Venezuela's earthquake getting people out of rubble, because of
00:20:12course the Israel occupation forces are experts and getting people out the
00:20:16rubble that they have produced in Gaza, south Lebanon
00:20:20and elsewhere, and also helping Venezuela to embark a
00:20:24plan for reconstruction. Tell me what you think about
00:20:28this and the comparison between Venezuela and the
00:20:31Islamic Republic? Absolutely. I mean, I tried to
00:20:35give Delsi Rodriguez and her... administration lot the benefit
00:20:39the doubt despite all the reporting coming out that even in October she was
00:20:43in these conversations to kind of take over if it came to
00:20:47it and uh have a more us
00:20:50friendly uh administration and my
00:20:54approach has not been, like I'm not coming up with some grand conspiracy about what
00:20:57happened, I think it's pretty clear what happened just looking at how the policy
00:21:01the Venezuelan government has changed, um, allowing
00:21:05oil to be sent even indirectly to the Israeli
00:21:08occupation, condemning Iran's retaliatory strikes
00:21:12on US military basis whilst not condemming the US Israely war of
00:21:16aggression on Iran, um, even like the domestic ec'.
00:21:20economic reforms are more justifiable or explanatory,
00:21:23but kicking out cuban doctors, cutting off ties and
00:21:27trade with Cuba, Iran, China,
00:21:30Russia, and deporting Alex Sab and
00:21:34making up these insane excuses for what Alex Sabab needs to be deported, that he had
00:21:38fake ID when he was granted an id and diplomate on behalf the
00:21:41Venezuelan government. I mean it's absurd, and I think we're offending
00:21:45ourselves if we're not admitting this reality for what it is. I
00:21:49think the western. left has made lot of excuses, i see all the time when these critiques are
00:21:53raised, oh it's this only the western left making these critiques
00:21:56and you're just being shovenis and you don't understand they're making
00:22:00a tactical retreat and what do you want the venezuelans to do all just
00:22:04die? um and again i'm i'm not saying what should or shouldn't
00:22:07have been done, but living in Lebanon for example, speaking to people in the
00:22:11community the resistance, it's incomprehensible to
00:22:15people that even if your leader, your army commander told you
00:22:19to... stand down and not resist the empire. If that happens in
00:22:23Hezbulah, if the leaders said stop fighting Israel, the
00:22:27fighters, the community, the base the resistance, they would keep fighting, they would kill their
00:22:30leadership, and so I think there is like huge distinction, and
00:22:34again, like I'm from the US, I'm from the country that has been at war against
00:22:38Venezuela that it staged this coup and invasion. It makes me very sad thinking
00:22:42about Nicolas Maduro and his wife sitting in solitary confinement
00:22:46every day, but this my perspective, it's based on conversations with people.
00:22:50in Venezuela, in Latin America uh about you, this
00:22:54ultimate betrayal, and as I said earlier, Iran's strength has really been
00:22:57in never abandoning its allies, even when Iran has been
00:23:01under imposed wars under these in meant sanctions regimes, and of
00:23:05course that in America is different context being more directly under the boot of US
00:23:09empire, but at the same time I think we can attribute what happened in
00:23:12Venezuela, like it's not just the fault of one
00:23:16individual Delsi, and it would be um, it would be...
00:23:20just mistaken to blame it on that or attribute it to that, it's also result
00:23:24of Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, taking these really
00:23:27cowardly stances that ultimately delegitimize
00:23:30Maduro's legitimacy and and sovereignty
00:23:34and election results, the same governments who of course are abandoning Cuba right
00:23:38now and letting Cuba be strangled in this economic
00:23:41blockade, um so I think it's it's really shameful what has
00:23:45happened and that the US thought that the same thing would happen in
00:23:49Iran is a fundamental difference in the understanding of
00:23:53Iran, and that's not to downplay the immense successes
00:23:57the Bolivarian revolution, but the Bullivarian revolution was
00:24:01this more like social revolution, this electoral process, and I think
00:24:04even the Cuban Revolution has very different character
00:24:08because it was one through uh many years of gorilla
00:24:12warfare of actually uh completely consolidating a one-party
00:24:15revolutionary state and ousting the opposition, outing...
00:24:20the war criminals, the US-backed war criminals that ruled before, and of course
00:24:24the Iranian revolution also had its own unique process, but of a
00:24:27militant revolution that really like reestablished an entire
00:24:31new system, and I don't think the Bullivarian revolution was ever that
00:24:34consolidated or completed to that end, and I think
00:24:38that can explain some of what we've seen today, but I
00:24:42think probably out of all the betrayals and
00:24:46counterrevolutionary setbacks that we've seen since January 3rd,
00:24:50IOF leaders sitting a table with Delhi
00:24:53Rodriguez planning not just their expertise and home
00:24:57demolition, which they know because they're committing genocide in Gaza and South
00:25:00Lebanon, but also Delsi is asking them to present an entire
00:25:04national reconstruction plan for the future.
00:25:08Um, I mean, how more blatant does this get, how many more excuses can
00:25:12we make before we recognize that this is a counter revolution, and I don't
00:25:16think pretending that it's not helps anyone. I'm also interested in carrying on the
00:25:20Bolivarian Revolution, I'm not so quick to say that
00:25:22it is dead, but it's up to the masses, it's up to the communes, it's up to the people to
00:25:26take it back into their own hands and sees it from this leadership that is
00:25:30selling it out to the Epstein regimes. Well K, you provided
00:25:34lot of food for thought there, I'd love to carry on engaging in this
00:25:38conversation, but I know that we're both very tired, it's been a long schedule
00:25:41here for the funeral the blessed

00:26:42setup, one side has tanks parked in the other side's backyard, the
00:26:46other side's resistance, the only force that actually fought
00:26:50Israel to a stand still in this region for two decades was
00:26:53even allowed in the room. that's not negotiation, there's the
00:26:57occupier writing the terms and calling it diplomacy. washington
00:27:01called it a good day. Israel side called it a major win,
00:27:05lebanon's government called it a first step towards sovereignty,
00:27:08but here's what the deal actually says, israely troops stay in
00:27:12southern Lebanon for as long as they want, no
00:27:16deadline, no exit date, meanwhile the Lebanese army is
00:27:20handed the job, this arm the Islamic resistance, the
00:27:24group that drove Israel out of Lebanon, once before
00:27:28a strict timeline with Israel and Washington grading its
00:27:31progress. they even build a committee for it, the military
00:27:35coordination group whose job is to decide if Lebanon is being
00:27:39sovereign enough. Think about that, nation needs a permission
00:27:43slip co-signed by the country occupying it to
00:27:46prove it controls its own territory, and while Lebanon
00:27:50disarms its own defenders, Nitin Yahoo, a
00:27:53man wanted by the international criminal court is
00:27:57celebrating, because the deal lets his army stay
00:28:00exactly where it is, when the side facing war
00:28:04crime charges is the happiest person at the signing, that
00:28:07tells you everything about who this deal actually serves. this is
00:28:11after months of Israeli strikes that killed
00:28:144,200 people and displaced
00:28:17hundreds of thousands of Lebanese civilians, according to Lebanon's
00:28:21own health ministry. now even rebuild their homes,
00:28:25lebanese families need their government to hit
00:28:28milestones approved by the same countries that

00:28:33we have seen this movie before 1983, same promises,
00:28:37same playbook and even weaker lebanese government
00:28:41and far more Israeli troops on the ground. it took the Lebanese people less than
00:28:45year
00:28:45to rip it to pieces and built a resistance that fought
00:28:49Israel out their country instead. history already answered the
00:28:53question this agreement is pretending to ask. the only
00:28:57thing that ever restored lebanese sovereignty wasn't a
00:29:00signature in Washington. It was
00:29:03resistance.
