00:00:00Leicester is the most diverse city in the country and we saw
00:00:04them come out on force and ever since then ever
00:00:08since that action when they went on the roof in May
00:00:112021 the
00:00:13in locals go out they maintain the disruption they maintain the
00:00:17protests outside that
00:00:19factory so the
00:00:23British government um cancelled the watchkeeper drone
00:00:27contract which was worth two billion pounds.
00:00:39of of
00:00:54When you take action, there must be an internal
00:00:57coherence, like stealing
00:00:59of statue. like stealing a statue
00:01:02of the state of Israel's first prime minister or damaging
00:01:06picture, a cultural artifact
00:01:08of the British colonization of
00:01:10Palestine.
00:01:17shortly after we started we
00:01:19me saw escalation in police tactics
00:01:21of against us, it was to stop us from speaking out, it was to
00:01:25stop us from acting, it was to stop palestine action from growing.
00:01:29the way that the
00:01:30me Palestinian cause was pleased, the way that direct action for Palestine was
00:01:34pleased was a holy different level. To
00:01:38be grown to the floor by
00:01:39of police, in violently arrested, showed to
00:01:43me exactly what the state thought about
00:01:46Palestine.
00:01:52I think that's that was one
00:01:53of the main things that led me to take action, woman called Mariam
00:01:57Aafifi.
00:02:04i watched her being put in handcuffs and she was smiling at the camera and that was one one
00:02:08of the big um one one
00:02:10of the big um one
00:02:12of the big reasons why i felt like taking action in
00:02:16birmingham
00:02:21so we hit a factory in
00:02:25birmingham the company was arconic
00:02:28and um they're the uh
00:02:32there are an
00:02:33of aluminium uh rolling mill they they're con
00:02:37controversial for more than one thing,
00:02:39they um
00:02:42make uh parts for the f35
00:02:45firejet, but then there's also um
00:02:49grenfall
00:02:52me tower on the
00:02:56uh 14th of June 2017.
00:03:00fire spread across the building and because
00:03:03a of the iconic cladding it moved up
00:03:07down and around the building and killed
00:03:1072 people whilst the actions happening
00:03:14um you know it's you
00:03:18know it's it's fundamental to
00:03:21of remember of who you're doing it for and who was i was
00:03:25remembering you know stories
00:03:26of um people from
00:03:30from every floor in the Greenfall Tower. We wanted to
00:03:34show solidarity through actions, not just another
00:03:38statement, but by targeting the company which was both
00:03:41in responsible for the murder of people in Grenville
00:03:45and in Palestine. The same
00:03:48company which disregarded human lives in Britain are the same
00:03:52ones who supplied the materials for Israel's F35
00:03:56fighter jets used to massacre people in.
00:04:00Palestine, in Lebanon and across the Middle
00:04:06of East.
00:04:17of So the arms trade connects Britain to the ongoing
00:04:20genocide in multiple ways. Uh, first of all, Britain is a part
00:04:24of the F-35 program, which uh, which is the NATO program,
00:04:28supplying war planes to... now over 15% of
00:04:32every single F30 fighter jet is produced in
00:04:35Britain with components made by
00:04:38of
00:04:38of UK based arms
00:04:39factories
00:04:50number of its international obligations
00:04:53when it is when it's exporting weapons to Israel
00:04:57uh including the duty to prevent genocide. the duty to
00:05:00cooperate towards ending the uh Israeli occupation of
00:05:04Palestine, the duty to protect the Palestinian people, so the directors
00:05:08of arms factories across Britain that have
00:05:11of been targeted by. palestine action have often tried to
00:05:15distance themselves from kind of responsibility. now what we
00:05:19managed to find at
00:05:20the now what we managed to find at declassified based on
00:05:24um hundreds if not thousands of cargo documents that we obtained is
00:05:28that there are various factories across the UK and many of
00:05:32which are either elbit or subsidiaries of elbit that they have been
00:05:36exporting to Israel amid the Gaza
00:05:39genocide so what we've managed to do basically is to prove. in real
00:05:43time which arms factories in the UK have been
00:05:47exporting to Israel and despite repeated
00:05:50denials on the part the directors the arms factories. is
00:05:54that on? so this we
00:05:57understand this to be the
00:06:01roof that gives us access to the clean room where
00:06:05they make for the for
00:06:08the f35 clean u
00:06:12five fighter jets, so we believe that if we
00:06:16can contaminate this room that we
00:06:20can put this
00:06:23factory out of action for up
00:06:27to 12 months, it's
00:06:29fine, whoa,
00:06:33jesus, oh my word, there
00:06:37we go, is it too much, as we saw
00:06:41the genocidal campaign. escalate, so our actions needed to
00:06:45match that in terms of severity, people started to break
00:06:48inside factories regularly,
00:06:52you talad
00:06:53alarms,
00:06:58more people were coming forward and saying I'm gonna do it, and they were literally
00:07:02getting inside these factories and causing millions of pounds
00:07:06worth of damage, clean room
00:07:09two, clean.
00:07:22Security, security, stay
00:07:26together, stay together, stay
00:07:27together.
00:07:57Ready, yeah, one, two, two,
00:08:00three,
00:08:02three, can give a
00:08:05hand, come
00:08:08on.
00:08:15Let's
00:08:15go!
00:08:52Thank
00:08:53you, free
00:08:57power
00:09:06sign, let's see what we
00:09:09have.
00:09:14someone finally got the alarm
00:09:15off,
00:09:24police are
00:09:25here,
00:09:29have you glued the
00:09:30doors?
00:09:39this is what happens when you work with elves.
00:10:26Yeah, gives us time to fuck about in which case, check there's
00:10:30no other entrances. He's
00:10:34full, okay, nice, nice.
00:10:38Okay,
00:10:43yeah, yeah, yeah, got it, got it,
00:10:44got it,
00:10:48okay, yeah, good, good, good, good, let's go for drives, smash up drives, you guys smash up
00:10:52drives, I'm going to bandage my hands.
00:11:04Wow,
00:11:05it looks beautiful out there. It's actually a really nice
00:11:07morning.
00:11:16Yeah, we're just trying it
00:11:17open.
00:11:22Yes, amazing. Let's see,
00:11:26Leonard.
00:11:33Fab, go,
00:11:34go.
00:12:12Criminal damage to prevent a war crime is not a crime, when you put that
00:12:16before most juries in this country, they will see that for what it
00:12:19is, that these are people doing what they can within their means to
00:12:23try and prevent even. the great to
00:12:25hunt,
00:12:54we were allowed. Judge to talk about Palestine and to talk about and to
00:12:57put in front the jury how drones are used to share export
00:13:01licenses from UAV tactical systems to
00:13:03Israel and it means that
00:13:07you get fair trial when juries get to hear the whole
00:13:11truth like that they generally
00:13:13speaking find people in palestine action not
00:13:17guilty
00:13:24lated in we saw the latest in Gaza we saw the
00:13:28increase in state pressure against Palestine
00:13:30action. Actionists were being raided every
00:13:34week of different homes were being searched across the country by the
00:13:38police. We knew at the start a palestine
00:13:41action. The state would do everything possible to try and stop
00:13:45us before we drove Israel's weapons trade out of
00:13:49Britain and we weren't going to let them
00:13:51win.
00:13:56Through freedom of information requests we've been able
00:14:00to establish as fact that there has been
00:14:04fact that there has been
00:14:06constant between Israel, Albert
00:14:09Systems, the British government, you then have the
00:14:13case of 2022, pretty
00:14:162022, pretty petel at that time
00:14:20meeting with the director of Elbit, Martin Fosset
00:14:24and talking about.
00:14:25In that meeting, Pretty Patel told him, we
00:14:29cannot directly intervene in the judicial process,
00:14:33but we have been in contact with the police about this. Within
00:14:37a month of that meeting was the first conviction
00:14:41of a palestine action activist. Next meeting that took
00:14:44place um between a British
00:14:48government minister and Elbit systems
00:14:52also included somebody represent. in the Crown
00:14:55Prosecution Service. Now, this is very likely
00:14:59to be violation of 2.1
00:15:03the Crown Prosecutions code of conduct,
00:15:07which says that they must behave an independent
00:15:11and impartial way, without political
00:15:14pressure. The fact that arms companies
00:15:17can and are able to go to the
00:15:21government and to lobby them directly to say,
00:15:25impose harsher sentences on activists is in itself
00:15:28very telling of where we
00:15:30are.
00:15:35Elbit systems present. Lanius search and attack in
00:15:39one, new innovative autonomous lethal solution, based
00:15:43on racing drones. The Lannius conducts GPS
00:15:46navigation, flight, scanning, mapping enemy detection and
00:15:50litality a complex urban
00:15:52environment. This is equipped with AI
00:15:56technologies that allows navigation to building, scanning the
00:15:59building to identify openings, scanning and mapping, object
00:16:03avoidance, enemy detection and classification.
00:16:10Lanius search and attack in
00:16:12one
00:16:17living in Gaza means you are forced to hear this sound every
00:16:21day, almost every hour, day
00:16:24and
00:16:31ما بدك تحس حالك بدك تنام بتحسها فوق راسك
00:16:35زن زن زن زن.
00:16:40'I could tell you for sure that I haven't talked to anyone in Ghazza or heard
00:16:44any recording in Ghazza in the past year where I didn't
00:16:48consistently hear the voice of a drone at whatsoever
00:16:51uh any moment. The IDF has been
00:16:55systematically using drones in its campaign in Gaza
00:16:58the past 16 months um these drones have been used to bomb
00:17:02civilians. Israel and Israeli corporations are now marketing that
00:17:06as very'. effective uh, very effective ways of
00:17:10killing, they're emitting sounds such as of women or babies crying
00:17:14a kind of perverse attempt to lore Palestinians out their homes to tend
00:17:18to um the the person who's crying and then
00:17:22using them to bomb them
00:17:23afterwards.
00:17:40so first of all we've had testimonies from uh doctors who were in the
00:17:43grounds who described direct bullets
00:17:47coming to children through these quadcopters, we've also heard
00:17:51accounts of pregnant women who were targeted by quadcopters
00:17:55and also targeting of journalists, so Israel is
00:17:59kind of at the cutting edge as well of drone technology
00:18:03um by way of its experience of testing these different forms of
00:18:06drones. um a captive population in
00:18:10Palestine.
00:18:37particularly disturbing was one would drop maybe on
00:18:41crowded tented area and then the drones
00:18:45would come down
00:18:46and
00:18:50you set your time it's we're incredibly grateful that you're making
00:18:54the time to be here of civilians
00:18:57of civilians
00:19:00children and we had description
00:19:03after description this is not
00:19:05you know an occasional thing this was day. after day after day
00:19:08operating on children who would say I was lying on the ground
00:19:12after bomber dropped and this quadcopter came down
00:19:16and hovered over me and
00:19:18shot
00:19:23me.
00:20:59with an unprecedented operation, they are alleged to have
00:21:03caused over million pounds worth of damage to that
00:21:07facility. i think it's important for us to
00:21:09understand that when we're
00:21:13told Filton is a research center, it's
00:21:17absolutely not that. it homes. It
00:21:20hosts killing machines. This is
00:21:24machinery that is created on UK soil with UK
00:21:28state complicity and investment that is
00:21:32targeting and killing innocent children
00:21:35and civilians on mass a daily
00:21:39basis.
00:21:50Fatima Zainab was arrested on the 6th of August, that's
00:21:54one day after she turned
00:21:5520.
00:22:05Fatma Zainab has always been an advocate for social justice, I would say
00:22:08that's one of her most defining character, and
00:22:12when the when the genocide started in October
00:22:152023, it had a massive impact on
00:22:19her um. would be going on every single march as
00:22:22family, all the national marches, emergency protests
00:22:26and rallies, we would be, I think there came point, I
00:22:30think there came point where Fatma Zenab was getting really
00:22:34distressed and very helpless that you know we're marching week
00:22:38in, week out, the government's not listening, our voices are being
00:22:41unheard, um, and
00:22:45I feel this is the point where she felt that she needed to...
00:22:50to take action herself, do something more than just marching week
00:22:54in, week out, and it's an incredibly difficult time, because we're not only
00:22:58having to deal with the grief of um, witnessing a
00:23:01real-time genocide take place every single day, but top
00:23:05of that we're having to deal with the absence of our loved ones,
00:23:09because they have tried to do something to stop
00:23:13that, we're all proud of her, you know, we're all proud of being where she
00:23:17is for for why she is. in prison you know
00:23:21and and even
00:23:23you know when i visit her tell her you need to hold your head up high because
00:23:27you you know you're not going to allow anyone to criminalize you because you haven't done
00:23:31anything that you need to be ashamed
00:23:33of.
00:23:50'now the police response to this action has been quite
00:23:54extraordinary. they've used counter-terror legislation to detain
00:23:58and remand - many of those activists in
00:24:01prison and to the extent that they were moved from one site to another
00:24:05site without anybody who knows them being made aware that they'd been moved. they were
00:24:09effectively rendered incommunicado from the rest the world. you have
00:24:12seen people detained on
00:24:16remand for a long time, but initially under counter terrorism legislation.
00:24:20which meant there were numerous ways in which
00:24:24they could have more
00:24:26harsh um treatment justified
00:24:30supposedly a cell all day with the lights
00:24:34on all night with the lights on regular
00:24:36disruption um and with fatima zainab I couldn't see her until
00:24:40three weeks into her arrest the the government has
00:24:44abused the the use of counter terror
00:24:47powers to arrest the the bilton
00:24:51group to interrogate them day and
00:24:53night, and then because the the
00:24:57terror connection that they're now labeled with, the the
00:25:01consequences in prison on remand have
00:25:04been horrific for all them. it is safe
00:25:08to say that the worst legal framework to use in such case is the terrorism
00:25:12framework. the terrorism discourse has been heavily
00:25:15critiqued by uh justice theorist, by human rights
00:25:19lawyers, uh by being a way to evade uh the
00:25:23rule of law and creating an otherwise called exceptionalist
00:25:27space outside the law into whatever uh
00:25:30annoys the uh
00:25:31government.
00:25:41the state realized that imprisoning people had failed to stop
00:25:45the movement. they realized that rating people's homes has failed to stop the
00:25:49movement. This was the first time we had seen the
00:25:53state try and say that these actions could amount to
00:25:56terrorism. Despite being arrested under the terrorism
00:26:00act, none them were charged. with terrorism
00:26:03offenses, but the counter terrorism police continue
00:26:07to lead on this investigation.
00:26:11the police have sought escalate the
00:26:14repression and use counter-terrorism legislation
00:26:18to try and suppress Palestine action, but what we've
00:26:21seen is that people wanting to join and
00:26:25get involved has risen as
00:26:29the repression has risen.
00:27:21they calling a terrorist like they don't who the
00:27:25terrorist when they put it on me tell them this
00:27:29i'm all about peace and love peace and love. They're calling
00:27:33a terrorist like they don't know who the terror
00:27:36is insulting my
00:27:38intelligence.
00:29:18Hello and welcome to unscripted with me kabi. In this edition the program, we
00:29:22have the pleasure of having
00:29:23with us major general Mohsen Rizai. Thank you for having
00:29:27me. Now Dr. Mohsen Razi is secretary of Iran's Supreme
00:29:31National Security Council.
