00:04:10of اللغش رنيت على نبحه وكله بخش وك شفنا وياما وكله بيصف ولا مره
00:04:14of نخاف ولا مره ونصف we were sick and tired of
00:04:18begging the powers that be to stop killing our brothers and
00:04:22sisters in
00:04:25of of in in palestine.
00:04:30lobbies, politicians, i had organized protests and
00:04:33marches, but nothing was
00:04:35working.
00:04:44i've got you, rather than asking any politician
00:04:48to shut weapons factories down, we could go
00:04:52and shut
00:04:52of them down
00:04:53ourselves,
00:04:58by putting our bodies on the line And our liberty on
00:05:03of the line, occupying these factories, smashing them up and shutting them down, we
00:05:07could take the power
00:05:09of back into our own hands. We know
00:05:13we had the power, small groups of people with conscience,
00:05:16morality and few tools are all that's needed
00:05:20to actually change the
00:05:21world.
00:05:32Our world of drones is rising fast from delivery
00:05:36emergency response, law
00:05:38enforcement.
00:05:52Elbit systems technologies are
00:05:56operational in dozens of
00:05:58countries with
00:06:02power and
00:06:05precision.
00:06:40Never in my wildest imagination. have ever even thought that i would
00:06:44be in such a situation where my daughter is in
00:06:48prison, she has been arrested for an
00:06:52alleged action against elbit, the
00:06:56philton site and causing
00:06:59allegedly damage to weapons worth around one
00:07:03million
00:07:04pounds
00:07:11to take. against something unjust going
00:07:15on in my city, take pride in
00:07:17that.
00:07:46Direct action is a form of protest where you
00:07:48go straight to the people that are causing the problem and you solver
00:07:50yourself.
00:08:13"what direct action does is it confronts power
00:08:17a tangible way and it forces power to
00:08:20confront
00:08:21itself. Dire
00:08:25action is literally I'm refusing to move. Dir action
00:08:29is not the national parades where police come and they say can you move along now
00:08:32please? It's 4 p.m. We will decide on how we are opposing
00:08:36you and how we will disrupt until you listen to us. In terms of palestine
00:08:40action that means..." We've given up and asking people to
00:08:44stop arming Israel and we're going about um dismantling the arms
00:08:48industry
00:08:49ourselves.
00:09:06It is factory of
00:09:09revolutionaries. You've never had anything.
00:09:13the nature of Palestine action on the
00:09:17Palestinian cause in this country, work a sustainable
00:09:21way for for this period of time and achieve the successes
00:09:25that have been achieved. The effectiveness the actions that they they've
00:09:28taken um has had huge impact,
00:09:32factories being closed down, contracts being lost, it's
00:09:36in the interest the public actually for people to know what is happening
00:09:40within their cities and towns. and to be able to have a say in that, and for a
00:09:44long time we didn't, but thanks to Palestine action, now we
00:09:48know and we can
00:09:49act.
00:10:04I became aware of Palestine action through the kinds
00:10:07of uh actions that they were engaged in to
00:10:11disrupt the... manufacture and dissemination of
00:10:14weapons over the course the last th to 4 years
00:10:17and mean immediately clear that they were doing some the
00:10:21most important protest work not only in britain but I mean the
00:10:25world, those people are sacrificing
00:10:29something for cause far, far bigger than
00:10:33them and all of us, and they are giving
00:10:36themselves, their future, their time, their mental, their
00:10:40physical health, um, in order
00:10:44to articulate a form of love for
00:10:48some the most oppressed people in the
00:10:50world, these are the best of
00:10:54humanity.
00:11:12When
00:11:12they ask me why I did it, I tell them about the
00:11:15children, how their childhood is stolen from
00:11:19them, how their skeletons are left charred and
00:11:22smoking, how easily... their bodies are crushed by
00:11:26fallen buildings, how their skin melts as their
00:11:30flaming tents collapse around them. tell them
00:11:34the boy found carrying his brother's
00:11:37body inside his bloody backpack. tell them
00:11:41the girl whose hanging corpse ended at the
00:11:44knees. tell them the
00:11:47father holding up his headless
00:11:50toddler. tell them the mother
00:11:54who is leave the approximate weight of her family in body parts to
00:11:58bury, they'd all been shattered beyond
00:12:01recognition. Then I tell them about the
00:12:05history, I talk about how it was us that started
00:12:09it with our about
00:12:10declaration, so
00:12:13I say I cannot stand for this, it can go on no
00:12:17longer, so I took action against
00:12:21Albit, their weapon supplier.
00:12:25but never forget to say that it was love, not hate that
00:12:29called
00:12:29me,
00:12:33you the images coming out of gaza on our phone screens
00:12:37every single day, showing the slaughter of
00:12:41children, especially of children was you
00:12:44know was very hard for all of us to take,
00:12:47and the same for fatma zainab, she did not want to be complicit in
00:12:51genocide, and all these images, these stories that that...
00:12:55were reaching us um made her feel really
00:12:58helpless and really distressed and depressed
00:13:02um that you know why are we not doing anything
00:13:05you know as individuals as communities why are we sitting there with our hands
00:13:09tied the UK has has supplied Israel
00:13:12with material support in order to facilitate its violation of
00:13:16international law, it is very easily arguable that the UK is a complicit
00:13:20actor in the ongoing genocide in ghaza. palestinians in Gaza
00:13:24had living under a brutal siege by
00:13:27land, air and sea for over
00:13:30decade, and when
00:13:34Palestinians in Gaza marched to the fence, which has
00:13:37entrapped them under this brutal siege for over
00:13:41decade, to demand their rights to freedom, the rights to
00:13:45return to their homes a right stipulated under
00:13:49international law, they were met and shot and
00:13:52killed by Israeli sniper.
00:14:03We had extreme violations, some of which can be considered
00:14:07and classified as war crimes in terms of
00:14:10dark direct targeting the civilians who are partaking in
00:14:13these uh
00:14:14demonstrations.
00:14:24Is... responded by sniping thousands
00:14:28them, there were thousands of amps off the back of it and
00:14:32hundreds of people killed, and those sniper rifles, some them
00:14:36were sold to the israelis by the
00:14:37British.
00:14:55so we decided to occupy the weapons
00:14:58factory in Staffordshire, we grabbed whatever tools we
00:15:02could, we got some ladders, we didn't have much
00:15:06money so we just brought whatever we could from home, we
00:15:09used a shopping bags to carry the stuff onto the
00:15:13roof, and we were there for three days
00:15:15and we weren't sure if they would hold us in prison
00:15:19on remand afterwards that in that moment we had
00:15:23the power, we could... down this factory and that is the best
00:15:27place I have ever been, is top of an Israeli
00:15:31weapons factory, shutting it down with hammer in my
00:15:35hands.
00:15:43'forms of direct action can be thought about forms of direct action can be
00:15:47thought about in relation to resistance to apartide and forms
00:15:51of segregation, so direct action was used in the US civil rights
00:15:55movements, they disrupted and broke segregation laws
00:15:58in on public transports networks for instance or on food
00:16:02counters, we can think about examples such as resistance to
00:16:06chattle slavery'.
00:16:07in the americas in which they rose up, burnt down the
00:16:10property the the peoples who were enslaving them. all these
00:16:14forms of resistance were holy illegal. you also have the sufragets
00:16:18movement, which went as far as trying to push Winston
00:16:22Churchill under a train and throwing
00:16:25bricks at 10 Downing Street. so there's all manner
00:16:29of ways in which directaction has achieved some the
00:16:33things that we actually take for granted and view at.
00:16:37as positive aspects of our society, those
00:16:41were one through direct action they were fought for from below
00:16:45not bestowed from above
00:16:48here at UAV engines in Shenstone, I'm locking
00:16:52on, I'm we've got
00:16:55couple
00:16:57of guys
00:16:57with brick breakers,
00:17:03this is Elbit's drone engine
00:17:04factory in Shenstone, so that's why we are here. ordinary
00:17:08people closing this factory
00:17:10down. that sound you
00:17:14hear is the sound of ordinary people taking direct
00:17:18action. let's see how our
00:17:22fortification
00:17:23works
00:17:26against police tools. we've
00:17:30got to take this factory
00:17:32down, brick by
00:17:35bick, wall by wall.
00:17:40'the primary purpose is shutting elbit down and causing economic damage,
00:17:44but if we don't publicize what's happening there, if we don't show
00:17:48people not only how it's operating, what's happening
00:17:52within it, the companies that are complicit with this and are supplying them, but
00:17:55also showing people the bravery that
00:17:59activists are taking who are going in and smashing up the inside of factory, but when you
00:18:03see someone take that courage and take that step into action, it means
00:18:07that's 'you have that conversation with yourself, could I take that action
00:18:10too? if not me, who, and if not now,
00:18:14when? I can act to stop
00:18:18these weapons being manufactured is within my power, and I will do
00:18:21that.
00:18:27What brought me here today is kind of realization that direct action is
00:18:31probably one the best ways to get your voice
00:18:33heard.
00:18:38We are here to shut Albert
00:18:40down.
00:18:52Protest has limited
00:18:56effect in this country, and you know we saw it with
00:18:59Grenfeld, we've seen it with Palestine, saw it with the Iraq
00:19:02war. What we're seeing now is that these demonstrations become
00:19:06a... are institutionalized in a way that isolates them from
00:19:10the rest the community, so you can protest all you want, but the
00:19:14policy change will remain very minimal, and you
00:19:17see actually futility of some the
00:19:21methods that have been used for decades in this
00:19:24country, people were literally going out every day
00:19:27and there was no impact, like it wasn't
00:19:31that the Israeli government were going to look at that and do
00:19:34anything, and um the only thing that i saw that i
00:19:38felt was actually going to have any
00:19:41impact was to stop the weapons that we're producing in this
00:19:45country and so that leads you to the point
00:19:49where you see direct action as
00:19:52actually the only thing that has delivered
00:19:55results a tangible way um and a dramatic
00:19:59way in in this country inspired by the
00:20:03Raythion 9.
00:20:14so Rateon are between Rathion and Lockede Martin, the
00:20:18largest arms company in the world at the Rathion
00:20:21building there is number of persons inside have taken
00:20:25over the building and are throwing
00:20:28items, uh, computer discs, paper, etc.
00:20:32onto the
00:20:32roadway,
00:20:36these were who during the Israeli war
00:20:40on Lebanon realized they had a Rathion factory in
00:20:44derry and they got into the
00:20:47factory shut it down.
00:20:59were then arrested and used the court case as an opportunity to
00:21:03turn the tables on the
00:21:05company, so they entered the
00:21:09court, the accused and they left as the accusers and they were
00:21:13able to not only be acquitted, but also Raithion was forced to
00:21:17leave derry by seeking to turn the table and and take uh
00:21:21these corporations to court through direct action uh
00:21:24these these actionists sought to engage the legal
00:21:28system a rather creative way. further more, this way of
00:21:32thinking is a way that appeals to the law
00:21:35and the court of public
00:21:37opinion.
00:21:49for... is certainly being used as a testing ground for the arms
00:21:53industry and I mean it's not this is not just kind of claim by
00:21:57activists or palestinians or lawyers, this is something that is
00:22:00openly admitted by the Israeli arms industry and they're selling
00:22:04these instruments of war as battle as battle tested
00:22:08against the Palestinians. If you go to the DSEII arms
00:22:12fair which happens every two years in Excel, London, you
00:22:15will find Israeli corporations using demo videos.
00:22:20uh on how these weapons were used and conducted in uh
00:22:23Palestine. Israel has a constant
00:22:27Guine pig which is the Palestinians. Guine pigs for how we
00:22:31can control them. Guine pigs for how we can watch them. Guine pigs for how we can study
00:22:35them. Guine pigs for how we can kill them. That the UK and the
00:22:38Israeli military industrial complexes are actually quite
00:22:42integrated. Now an important aspect of this was the
00:22:46watchkeeper drone. Since becoming operational and
00:22:50in the mid 1990s, hermis family systems logged more than
00:22:5440000 operational flight hours in more than
00:22:5740,00 successful combat missions for various forces
00:23:01around the globe, making them the most versatile and
00:23:04reliable, tactical in the world, in the
00:23:08world. Albert
00:23:12Systems is a military technology
00:23:15company that is officially incorporated in Israel,
00:23:19but as a multinational. corporation, it has uh different
00:23:22subsidiaries all across the world, it produces weapons primarily for
00:23:26the Israeli state, however it also exports its weaponry
00:23:29to uh state actors all around the
00:23:32world.
00:23:36it produces many the missiles, drones, armory
00:23:40and that's been used to pumel gaza, now it's also
00:23:44deeply integrated with the Israeli state, israeli officials are
00:23:48frequently at elbit events I'm here in
00:23:51Bristol uh for the opening the new Elbit
00:23:54factory and I'm very very proud the Israeli technology.
00:23:58Elbit is defense technology company Israeli
00:24:02that based here in the UK, has factories in Kent and in
00:24:05Bristol. We quickly
00:24:08identified Albert Systems, Israel's biggest weapons firm as
00:24:12our main target. Elbit systems are the
00:24:16very manifestation the Israeli military.
00:24:20regime here in Britain. We knew they were operating in towns and
00:24:24cities across Britain. We also understood the
00:24:28impact it would make if Israel's biggest weapons
00:24:31manufacturer was forced out of a country, one their
00:24:35strongest allies, and not because the government said so,
00:24:39but because the people. You knew
00:24:43that Albert systems and under the subsidiary UAV tactical
00:24:46systems were operating an arms company and a manufacturing
00:24:50hub where they're assembling drones to be shipped off
00:24:54to Israel from there and the idea there is if you're on the roof
00:24:58of factory like
00:25:00the the British health and safety rules means that no one can actually be underneath you until they take you
00:25:03off so just being there shut down the long as long as we
00:25:07could and buy it for a long as long as we could and
00:25:11um yeah just keep that factory shut shut down yeah so this is day this middle
00:25:15the sixth day top of Elvit's factory
00:25:19in Leicester. have been dening us water for a couple of
00:25:22days now, yeah, uh, we've now resorted to
00:25:26every time it rains scraping water off the tent, this morning
00:25:30um, i'll just show you over here, um, made a
00:25:33hole in the roof, and we can see down into the
00:25:37main workshop where they assemble killer drones, just around
00:25:41the corner there, that's the end the drone, you see on the right there,
00:25:45so we reckon this is where they assemble the drones ready for shipping towards
00:25:49Israel, to be tested on Palestinians, it was kind of that
00:25:53moment of like, we are so definitely in the right place, doing
00:25:57the right thing, um, and
00:26:00yeah, and that that was that was the same. day that that was that evening the police
00:26:04came to take us down and like it was with that happening in the
00:26:08morning, the police coming take us down that we kind of picked up the sledge
00:26:12hammer and hammers and we're just like we need to cake this this place needs to be shut down for as long
00:26:16as possible and we just did as much like as we could to the to the top of
00:26:19it um i remember this guy graham from the police shouting don't do that
00:26:23that's not going to help your cause which has
00:26:25been i think successfully proved
00:26:27wrong
00:26:32when it comes to any direct action that occurs it is really important for local community
00:26:36members to get involved, people came out and droves so we had
00:26:40convoys coming from across
00:26:41Lester,
00:26:47we have people coming outside the factory, people were staying over at
00:26:50night because we could tell that like the activists on the roof they were
00:26:54struggling
00:27:00and then we greed ourselves to the roof. just to stay out for a bit longer, you
00:27:04understand?
00:27:10once we were arrested and put into the police fans, something
00:27:14that they hadn't really banked for was the lesser community and quite how
00:27:18spectacular they
00:27:19are.
00:27:26the police were trying to get down um the activist
00:27:30from off the roof and in that time you know uh the lester community had
00:27:34mobilized a lot of people, they were call outs, they were standing in front the police with
00:27:38riot shields, police had come with their
00:27:40vans,
00:27:51while they were busy trying to unglue us and have people on the roof, i
00:27:54remember their conversations in my year and there was this guy saying just on the
00:27:58radio, a bit concerned, there seem to be people putting barriers up
00:28:02against. entrance to the factory by the time they'd got us in the vans later that night
00:28:05um
00:28:07the whole entrance had been barricaded a total people powered
00:28:10bloccade the
00:28:11factory
00:28:25every single one these actions has often a small
00:28:29number of people dressed up in red boiler suits maybe doing some damage or doing the
00:28:33action and huge number of people supporting that to happen and supporting
00:28:37it for years
00:28:37afterwards.
00:28:41when it came to 2023 when the there was a siege
00:28:45held by palestine action outside the lester elbit factory, our community w
00:28:49like okay these people have been manhandled by the police, the all
00:28:53their tents are being confiscated, but they want to continue the
00:28:56siege, so less the people came and gave blankets and
00:29:00food supplies and everything for that. to be able to continue in what they firmly
00:29:04believe that they should be there, you
00:29:05know?
00:29:14local people in these areas do not want an Israely
00:29:17weapons factory operating on their doorstep, and they can
00:29:21also be key driving force in forcing the
00:29:25company out their city. those

00:29:33um and being refused things from the police, they threw things up, when police tried
00:29:37to remove activists, they blocked the road, and then crucially they
00:29:41carry on and they come out after every action, they resonate
00:29:44more with the ones on the roof shutting down the factories than the
00:29:48companies who are making the weapons to massacre their brothers
00:29:52and sisters in palestine. Leicester is the most diverse
00:29:56city in the country and we saw them come out on
00:30:00force and ever since then ever since that action, when
00:30:04they went on the roof in May 2021, the locals go
00:30:07out, they maintain the disruption, they maintain the
00:30:11protests outside that
00:30:13factory, so the
00:30:17British government um cancelled the watchkeeper drone
00:30:21contract, which was worth two billion
00:30:23pounds.
00:30:29At the cradle of western civilization, US secretary. of state
00:30:33Marco Rubio tells a familiar story: Persians as
00:30:36villains, Athenians as heroes, but is that
00:30:40history or just Washington's preferred
00:30:42vision. Persians plundered the temples,
00:30:46they burned the shrines, they raised the Acropolis to the ground. Case
00:30:50closed, not so fast, history has habit of talking
00:30:54back.
