00:21:03its temporary protection policy for Ukrainians, not a
00:21:06big dramatic announcement, more of a little tweak
00:21:10the legal text that changes the reality
00:21:13completely for Ukrainians fleeing war.
00:21:16As of August 5th, protection now depends on whether you can't prove that
00:21:20you're in compliance with your military obligations back
00:21:24home. Here's the official version. To this end,
00:21:28without prejudice to union law and fundamental rights, temporary
00:21:32protection should only be granted to individuals who can provide proof to
00:21:36member state authorities that they are where applicable in compliance with
00:21:40their military obligations. So protection is no
00:21:43longer just about getting your behind out of a war
00:21:47zone, it also now means that you have to. demonstrate
00:21:51that you're not getting out of it too effectively by
00:21:54avoiding the front line, and the EU is very clear about
00:21:58why, they don't want to weaken Ukraine's ability to defend
00:22:02itself. now that part sounds like this: it is
00:22:06therefore essential that the union continue to apply temporary
00:22:10protection a way that, while benefiting displaced persons does
00:22:14not negatively affect Ukraine's overall ability to best defend
00:22:17itself against Russia's war of aggression? and to decide freely on the
00:22:21organization of its defense forces. Okay, so in other words, you
00:22:25can leave, just not in a way that becomes obvious, or
00:22:28worse, so popular, that everyone notices that
00:22:32reality contradicts Brussels narrative, because Ukrainians
00:22:36fleeing mobilization is really at odds with the messaging that we've
00:22:40been hearing over the past few years. According to European leaders, Ukrainians
00:22:44aren't just willing to fight, they're practically
00:22:48falling over themselves to get to... frontlines, and we all
00:22:51know that Ukrainians are ready to die
00:22:55for the European perspective. Ukraine is are very resilient, they are
00:22:59fighting for their freedom, their independence, their
00:23:03country, so they can't just surrender. We
00:23:07witness the resilience of Ukrainian people who
00:23:11have shown extraordinary strength in f in the
00:23:14face of aggression. Okay, so Ukrainians are eager,
00:23:18they're determined. highly motivated, so much so
00:23:22that they're now required to prove it. the EU's narrative about
00:23:26Ukrainians being siked about fighting is apparently so
00:23:30badly in need of maintaining that Ukrainians now have to
00:23:34subject themselves to a Brussel's compliance
00:23:37exercise in order to prop it up, because if
00:23:41everyone's rushing to the front voluntarily, then you don't
00:23:45really actually need to check to see if they're dodging the
00:23:49draft. you just assume that they're going because they're so
00:23:52gung-ho, but instead the EU has built a
00:23:56system for Ukrainians that now says, hey, look, we
00:23:59support you, but we'd also like some confirmation that
00:24:03you're not trying to dodge this war that we keep saying you're so
00:24:07psyched about fighting. turns out that the EU member
00:24:11states are already operationalizing all of this. in the Czech
00:24:14Republic for example, applicants will have to verify their
00:24:18Ukrainian military service. status through an app before getting
00:24:22protection, here's how that is being framed. Our
00:24:26government has been pushing for tightening of temporary protection conditions for
00:24:30a long time, and I appreciate that we have managed to find agreement across
00:24:34member states. This decision will reduce the number of new
00:24:37arrivals by tens of percentage points. This will subsequently
00:24:41reduce the pressure on our capacities and relieve the check health and
00:24:45social system. Yeah, well, there it is, the
00:24:49bottom line of course. the practical reality that no one likes to
00:24:52pretend even exists. fewer arrivals, less pressure
00:24:56on the system, smoother administration, fewer
00:25:00headaches. uh, yeah, heart-diven humanitarian
00:25:03policy meets cash driven capacity
00:25:07management. so the EU is now trying to manage two
00:25:10parallel tracks, you could say, one being a lot
00:25:14more detached from reality than the other. publicly

00:27:50conflict to other parts the

00:28:00July 2024, Ukrainian. intelligence was involved in the battle

00:28:50these areas the city, where each faction answers to a particular

00:28:57groups and traces the Ukrainian side are already evident, providing
