00:06:35I'm not a political person, but I personally feel they pen us
00:06:39against each other, put us on
00:06:48terminant time in the US, and the march coincides with everything
00:06:52happening right now, with lot the divisions among us, I think there's definitely a lot of
00:06:55symbolism in ending this march in Washington DC, where our nation's capital
00:06:59is and our law makers and politicians are, I think it's important that
00:07:03we really come together and we need something that something that galvinize the American
00:07:07people, there's things happening in other countries where our government is
00:07:10involved that I don't think that. necessarily going
00:07:13to it's going to benefit humankind, not not just now, but uh,
00:07:17in the long term. i don't know if ultimately we
00:07:19be able to fix anything from from watching what these monks are accomplishing, but i
00:07:23think what it's doing is it's bringing a lot of people together from
00:07:26different beliefs and backgrounds.
00:07:28there are a lot of people that would never stand next each other a icy road at
00:07:3229 degrees to to see some buddhist monks walk
00:07:36through when they might be muslim or christian um or
00:07:40non-denominational. think in general there's just unrest between
00:07:43everybody, whether it's political, whether it's whatever it is,
00:07:47just all the unrest, everybody's unhappy, we're supposed to
00:07:51be united states of america, this is united right,
00:07:55so why would we not be united, that's the goal in itself within our
00:07:58constitution to be united, not divided, no way
00:08:02whatsoever, what we're seeing each and every day and what so
00:08:06many people are going through, it's really horrible, so I
00:08:10think now is the time you really have to come together. to have compassion toward
00:08:14others, i think that's a big thing, we have to do
00:08:17that, we wouldn't be this close each other on the regular day,
00:08:21everybody goes, everybody goes their own separate ways, nobody
00:08:25really really like come together unless is just reminding
00:08:29everybody that we're all in it together, yeah, whether race,
00:08:32religion, sex, none of that matters at the end the
00:08:36day, we all need the same thing, we all crave the same
00:08:40thing, love, the longing. just feeling like you are a part
00:08:44of a community can make a big difference, whenever we come
00:08:48together and you know join hands makes you feel
00:08:50accepted? well, my friend Bernadit and I have been
00:08:54watching them since they left Texas and we actually drove down from Long Island, New
00:08:58York. I think that the state the world that we're in today,
00:09:01especially here in America, we're really in dark times and I
00:09:05feel like their message is so clear and to see all
00:09:09these people here really just brings me so much hope for.

00:09:20something like this is something that could really unify us and give us like

00:09:35important to me for the little children see that we
00:09:39have to have better world, a world has to get. better, they can't, they
00:09:43have to see a brighter future, not one that looks like this with all this
00:09:47hate.

00:10:00i came down from Ohio, i'm going to try to make it
00:10:04all the way to dc. why did you come to join? well,
00:10:08because i want peace, doesn't everybody? i want
00:10:12them to stop uh kidnapping uh immigrants and
00:10:16deporting them and i want them to
00:10:20stop um torturing people in
00:10:23prison. "even criminals deserve to be treated
00:10:27with human human rights, people's human rights are being
00:10:31violated, not even criminals deserve that. these
00:10:35men the only way that they eat is if someone donates food to them,
00:10:39and they took a leap of faith to to to step out onto the road, not
00:10:43knowing where they're going to rest their head at night, and it's crazy because I did
00:10:46see lot of negative attention that they got in Georgia, which truly
00:10:50bothered me, which is ignorant to me, because Buddhism isn't
00:10:53religion." That's the thing, Buddha was a man, he wasn't
00:10:57a god, you know, so these people are being ridiculed and
00:11:01treated this way off of sheer ignorance, so maybe
00:11:05learn, learn somebody's difference before you start mocking them
00:11:09and and ridiculing them, and you might realize that you have more in common with that
00:13:04my day yesterday by walking behind the the monks and it
00:13:08was quite a blessing, i said
00:13:09i want to start my day today just like i started it yesterday, i
00:13:13was asked by someone who walked along with me for
00:13:17a while, well are you walking for peace? i
00:13:21start here and maybe the rest the world. will take care of
00:13:25itself, i certainly can't heal the world, but maybe maybe i
00:13:29can find a little more peace in my remaining
00:13:33days by being part of this for a little
00:13:37while. well, aren't we all part the world, so if you and
00:13:40i feel a little more peace then the world is a little more at peace
00:13:44by definition, is it not? i agree, i
00:13:48agree. we've come from near Toronto, Ontario,
00:13:52canada, specifically coberg, uh, we've driven about
00:13:5512 to 13 hours to be here for the walk
00:13:59for peace uh, this day, the hundredth day the
00:14:03walk. we wanted to come a time when
00:14:07they would be close enough to Washington that we could see them before they entered the
00:14:10capital to come and bring our love all the way from Canada and
00:14:14to be able to experience the peace and
00:14:17harmony that the journey is
00:14:21sharing with all the

00:19:10monastery and something drove them. i see it as a sign to
00:19:13do something, if they're spreading peace, they're spending love, it doesn't
00:19:17bother me. i think God is more inclusive than
00:19:55sin right here in this holy place, it is
00:19:59overwhelmed for us, right behind me right
00:20:03now we have all faithful leaders and in front of you all
00:20:07you can see see all religions leaders here
00:20:10together for the same mission,
00:20:13peace. this is the first time to me
00:20:17that we are working together, we are walking together on this
00:20:21path to find peace for our
00:20:23shell to share that to our nation
00:20:27and the world.
00:21:21to see about 10 democrats and and 10 republicans
00:21:24join the independent party and I think that that would
00:21:28force some togetherness and hold the hold the
00:21:31course. I was pointed towards Mandela's
00:21:35statement that apparently I haven't really memorized about
00:21:39peace is not just the absence of conflict, it's created an
00:21:43environment where everybody flourishes. us
00:21:47working together, when I was younger... you did
00:21:51workshops to accomplish task, think tanks,
00:21:54brainstorming, workshops to accomplish an
00:21:57objective, and that is the way to to get
00:22:01things done rather than arm wrestling for things, this back and
00:22:05forth, one step up and two steps back doesn't work
00:22:28I think there is fear uh right now, because there's a lot
00:22:32of uh, information out there, and then a lot of things happening at one
00:22:35time, um, you got people going against each other, you have lot
00:22:39of political figures speaking out against
00:22:42other people, and uh, we're supposed to be united,
00:22:46I mean, you're going to have fear with ice and everything that's going on right now.
00:22:50'um, you know, people from other countries wanting to come here,
00:22:54they don't want to come here now, people think that America is an unsafe
00:22:57place, um, and that's unfortunate, because not everybody thinks that
00:23:01way, and so I think this really shows the heart of people, different
00:23:05organizations are coming against us and to
00:23:09try and keep us in fear, to keep us under their
00:23:12control, to think that we don't have power, and we
00:23:15collectively come together, then we can have some solutions uh, that's
00:23:19beneficial'. for everyone and I mean it's imperative, we we have
00:23:23to have it right now, it's so much going on, um, structures are collapsing,
00:23:27systems are collapsing, and it's what we're going to build from
00:23:39when we began walk for peace back
00:23:43in October, we did that with an
00:23:46interfate celebration, being a spiritual.
00:23:50group, we always stayed away from politics, we do not
00:23:54understand politics, just want to remind you all
00:23:58that, 2,300 miles
00:24:02over the course of 110
00:24:05days hot weather,
00:24:09please,
00:24:17before i do anything, I would
00:24:20love to have my brother monk
00:24:23ajan mahadam, the one who
00:24:27lost his leck during the wall for
00:24:29peace to say some
00:24:32words to all of us here in
00:24:36this special moment
00:25:26and hatred is just causing all this violence and i think also when people have
00:25:30been so used to a certain environment that fear and hatred do live in,
00:25:34it's kind of harder to get out of that as well. and it's just easier
00:25:38for it to thrive in. and when people do see stuff like this, when they
00:25:41do see walks for peace, when they do see their community coming
00:25:45together and really just caring for each other, it does
00:25:48bring more light into. area and it does promote more love
00:26:16peace is now ended in Washington DC
00:26:20at the Lincoln Memorial and here, the
00:26:23stadium, but this journey
00:26:27will never
00:26:28ends.
