00:00:05of of war. When exactly did the post-ward take faitful
00:00:06turn?
00:00:2012 people are killed and over 300 wounded in
00:00:23attack on the main international airport in Riyadh, according
00:00:27to Saudi
00:00:28of authorities, and that's ask the... Yemeni
00:00:33of of hodhi movement confirms to RT that he carried out the
00:00:34of
00:00:35of strike, these attacks are yemeny
00:00:38a attacks. We do not do this out of revenge or to take vengeance, but rather to force the
00:00:42Saudi leadership to accept a comprehensive and permanent peace by agreeing to
00:00:46end the war. I think it's time for Ukraine to get new president, but he could have settle
00:00:50it many times and he chose not to. Donald Trump leaves
00:00:54it out
00:00:54of here to Kieve as Washington agrees to lift sanctions and imports
00:00:58of Russian diesel. And this is decision deemed week
00:01:02by Vladimir Zelensky and one that prompted the Ukrainian
00:01:06of delegation to immediately leave the
00:01:08US. Donald Trump
00:01:11insists that the US will not attack Iran at least
00:01:15before the American
00:01:17in elections next month. As
00:01:18in Tehran reveals, Washington's military has suffered far greater losses
00:01:22than it
00:01:22admits.
00:01:32of and the news goes on right here on RT international, reaching you from the
00:01:36Russia's capital, I am Michael, let's begin right
00:01:40now
00:01:40of from Saudi Arabia where 12 people were killed and more than
00:01:44300 wounded in attack on the main international airport in
00:01:48Riyadh. A spokesperson for the Yemeni hofi
00:01:51movement confirmed to RT that he was behind the
00:01:55strike. Now it was the second such attack on the
00:01:59area
00:01:59in uh many days now on verified footage circulating
00:02:03online appears to show smoke rising near the airport,
00:02:07other site has been evacuated and all flights suspended.
00:02:11riad bay correspondent mohammed al rasheid reported
00:02:15that
00:02:15of the attack inflicted
00:02:17in substantial damage to multiple terminals which handle domestic
00:02:21and international
00:02:22flights.
00:02:25indeed, this statement was issued by the saudi general authority of civil.
00:02:30approximately six
00:02:32of hours after the initial announcement made earlier today. It provided details on
00:02:36the number of casualties, confirming 12 dead and 309
00:02:39wounded, including several in critical condition, currently receiving
00:02:43treatment at hospitals in Riyadh. Among the dead were four Saudi
00:02:47nationals, two Bangladeshis, one American citizen, one
00:02:51Egyptian, one Jordanian, one Syrian, and one
00:02:58remain suspended for the time being. as a precautionary measure to
00:03:01of ensure in the safety of facilities and the continuation of operational
00:03:05processes. the recent statement also confirms that efforts are
00:03:08underway to assess the extent
00:03:10of the material damages in coordination with authorities. today's toll
00:03:14may represent the
00:03:15me highest recorded from either huti or Iranian attacks during assaults on the
00:03:19kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I must also mention the attempt to maintain
00:03:23of operations at King Fodd International Airport in Damasham, which is
00:03:26situated outside the
00:03:27of city. We are currently managing.
00:03:29Furthermore,
00:03:39we have received information concerning the extent
00:03:41of the damage to that airport. According to our sources, the areas
00:03:45impacted were terminal 3 3 and is terminal
00:03:48designated 4. for
00:03:49Terminal domestic flights between cities and Saudi
00:03:51Arabia,
00:03:54of while Terminal 4 accommodates certain international
00:03:56carriers. spokes
00:04:00person told RT that the group's actions were a direct response to
00:04:04aggression by the saudis against civilian areas in
00:04:07Yemen. Yes, these
00:04:11attacks are Yemeny attacks after 12 years of Saudi aggression, destroying
00:04:15Yemen infrastructure, whether airports, ports, even wedding and
00:04:19funeral halls as well as schools, hospitals and markets. It targeted
00:04:23everything in Yemen and targeted and destroyed all infrastructure, and today it
00:04:27acknowledges that airports are civilian facilities that... must not be
00:04:30targeted under international law, but we say that we deal with Saudi
00:04:34Arabia in kind, and our military operations deep inside the Saudi
00:04:38Entity, will continue and will not end
00:04:40of except by destroying all Saudi infrastructure belonging to the government, whether
00:04:44military facilities, airports, or even ports and any vital facilities belonging
00:04:48to the Saudi regime. We do not do this out of revenge or to take
00:04:51vengeance, but rather to force the Saudi leadership to accept a comprehensive and
00:04:55permanent peace by agreeing to end the war and end the siege by both
00:04:58sides. The Saudi. leadership can agree to achieve peace, and these are
00:05:02Yemen's demands. Now, this comes amid a
00:05:06rapid escalation
00:05:07of the conflict in Yemen. Now, the Hutis have released footage
00:05:11that he says shows. dozens of fighters from the Saudi backed
00:05:15presidential council surrendering to advanced to the
00:05:19forces. At the video comes as Saudi Arabia and its
00:05:22regional partners plan to step up their military coordination on
00:05:26Monday, raising concerns that the conflict could
00:05:30expand further and draw more countries in. The attack
00:05:34comes
00:05:34as Saudi led forces in Yemen say that they have destroyed
00:05:38three rocket launch platforms that are used by H
00:05:42militants to quote threaten regional security, and in fact
00:05:46the group itself confirmed the saudi air force carried
00:05:50out 59 air strikes and missile attacks in
00:05:54just 24 hours, causing multiple casualties.
00:05:58now professor of political science and mass communication at Qatar
00:06:02University, Dr. Ali al Hail believes that the
00:06:05main beneficiary the escalation in the region is
00:06:09Israel. This is a part of the
00:06:12vicious circled war between
00:06:16thehis and Saudi Arabia on one
00:06:19hand and between the hies and what's called the
00:06:23legitimate government at the
00:06:26temporary capital city in Eden
00:06:29at southern Yemen,
00:06:33well could be, well from the very
00:06:37first glance we can say probably
00:06:40it is the hoothies, but Also we should
00:06:44not doubt other sources,
00:06:47Israel probably takes advantage of this chaos
00:06:51and Israel has an interest
00:06:54in making Saudi Arabia
00:06:58bleeding and weakening Saudi Arabia
00:07:02in order to force Saudi Arabia into
00:07:06normalization with Israel. now the
00:07:10prime minister of Pakistan and of Saudi Arabia has
00:07:14condemned the recent hoothy attack on the airport in Riyadh.
00:07:17Shabaz Sharif expressed his country's own wavering solidarity
00:07:21with the leadership and people of Saudi Arabia. Earlier this week
00:07:25we got comments from the editor in chief the Islamabad
00:07:28telegraph Kaswa Klasra. He said that
00:07:32Pakistan was taking no chances with regional threats as it
00:07:36plays its military on standby in case you would need to
00:07:39uphold the Mecca defense pacts with.
00:07:42Saudis, one the key figures from howt
00:07:46is gave a statement that either
00:07:49Pakistan or Turkey, they they are, if
00:07:53they collaborated with the Saudi Arabian forces, they will
00:07:57face the music, and this was the first time that
00:08:00Pakistan, Pakistan responded with the fuel
00:08:03force, Pakistan's foreign minister categorically said that we
00:08:07have, we have actually signed an agreement with Saudi
00:08:11Arabian. and we will do everything what
00:08:15is required to defend Saudi Arabian tarritory and the
00:08:19Holy Mosk the two holy mosque in Saudi Arabia as well so it
00:08:23means Pakistan's Islambad has taken it very very
00:08:26seriously let tell you very very clearly that if you
00:08:30take in account the the
00:08:34activities the most powerful
00:08:38you know field marcher of Pakistan's army he has been
00:08:42uh he has been dividing his time
00:08:46between Riyadh and Islamabad during the last couple of months so it
00:08:49means Pakistan is very serious Pakistan's head of
00:08:53armed forces have been available round the
00:08:57cloud for Saudi Arabians and when it comes to Makka defense
00:09:01Pakistan's you know defense forces and
00:09:04also Pakistan leadership is on the same thing Pakistan has taken
00:09:08everything seriously either the statement coming from the
00:09:12house leadership or anywhere from from the
00:09:16region as well, so it means Pakistan is fully on board,
00:09:20Pakistan have been collaborating with Saudi Arabia for long
00:09:23time, but after signing of Makka pact, it means
00:09:27Pakistan is a party of Saudi Arabia
00:09:31conflict with, so it means the Saudi
00:09:35conflict is not only between Saudi Arabia and howt
00:09:38is, but it is also between His and Pakistan and
00:09:42His and Turkey as well, the roots of this
00:09:46latest round of deadly escalation in Yemen run
00:09:49deep. Now RTC igos danov breaks down the history the
00:09:53previous war between the Hudis and the Saudi led
00:09:56coalition. Round two between Ansar
00:10:00Allah and the Saudi backed forces in Yemen, a conflict that
00:10:03Riad enters with bitter taste in its mouth following the
00:10:07previous war that began in 2015. Operation
00:10:11Decisive. was meant to degrade and
00:10:15destroy a direct quote thehis, which is another
00:10:18name for answer. as Saudi Arabia's then ambassador to the
00:10:22US put it, was declared a... success just a
00:10:26month in. The primary goals the campaign have been achieved and sovereignty has been
00:10:30protected. We are able to confirm that the Houties are no longer a threat to
00:10:34Yemenis or neighboring countries. The Yemeny government will now undertake
00:10:38all necessary actions to start rebuilding the country. But the
00:10:41bombing and fighting would carry on for another
00:10:45seven years, from which the Hutis would by
00:10:47the way emerge even stronger than before, and that's despite things not
00:10:51looking too promising for them in the beginning when they were driven. out
00:10:55the southern city of Aden, which they had stormed in the
00:10:59very first weeks the war, and then things shot from
00:11:03bad to worse, two years later too, when their
00:11:06ally, Yemen's former president, Ali Salek, pulled
00:11:10his allegiance from the Houtis and turned on
00:11:14them along with his troops. I call on our entire great
00:11:17nation, across all provinces, districts, villages and
00:11:21neighborhoods everywhere, to rise as one to defend the revolutions.
00:11:25republic, unity and freedom from these elements. For three years they have carried
00:11:29out irresponsible actions, squandering the wealth the people,
00:11:32plundering public institutions, and seasing state agencies and ministries,
00:11:36and I address the armed forces and security forces, do not take any
00:11:40orders from the leadership of Ansar Allah any institution or any
00:11:43location. Except that was the mistake of his life,
00:11:47quite literally. It took the hooties two days to
00:11:51obliterate his forces and kill him too, as They
00:11:55proceeded to take soul control the territories they
00:11:59had held. We enter the fourth year with
00:12:03our advanced and diverse missile systems, including the Badra,
00:12:06Burcan and others, capable of penetrating all American and
00:12:10non-American defense systems. We enter the fourth year with our
00:12:14long-range drones which boast high effectiveness and excellent
00:12:18military capabilities. We enter the fourth year by
00:12:22unprecedentedly mobilizing the military establish.
00:12:35shifted from ultimatums to appeals towards
00:12:39allies. the Iranian ideology penetrated some parts of
00:12:43Yemen. during that time, this militia was conducting military
00:12:46maneuvers right next to our borders and positioning missiles at our
00:12:50borders. I can't imagine that the United States will accept one
00:12:54day to have a... militia in Mexico launching missiles on Washington
00:12:58DC, New York and LA, while Americans are watching these
00:13:02missiles and doing nothing. But the pendulum of betrayal had
00:13:05already begun its retrograde swing. The southern
00:13:09transitional council pro-coalition militants and Riad's main
00:13:13partners inside Yemen, turn their guns on the
00:13:17Saudi-back government and seized Aden for
00:13:20themselves. This infighting within the read led camp
00:13:23was everything. the hoothies could dream the saudi
00:13:27back government was thrown out of its own
00:13:31capital and the interior minister at the time conceded
00:13:34its loss. yes, we admit our defeat and
00:13:38congratulate our brothers in the United Arab Emirates on their obvious victory over
00:13:42us, but this battle was not the last, and it is by no means final. we
00:13:46depart only to return. i speak to you from Aden. it is currently 12
00:13:50o'clock in the afternoon. an hour or two under the protection of our brothers from the
00:13:54kingdom of Saudi Arabia. we will proceed
00:13:56to Aiden international airport from where we will be transported to Riad. I say to
00:14:00you once more, do not despare and do not be sad, you did everything that was
00:14:04required of you. In the final years of that war, the Hutis went
00:14:08on at the offensive again, securing some victories, but
00:14:12their biggest push failed, yet still they
00:14:16kept the capacity to go forward following years of
00:14:19bombings, and that was reason enough for the United States, a Saudi
00:14:23allied to pull the plug of. support for the Saudi potential
00:14:26offensive, this war has to end, and
00:14:30to underscore our commitment, we are ending all American
00:14:34support for offensive operations in the war in Yemen, including
00:14:38relevant arm sales, no peace deal though, just very tentative
00:14:42truth amid a humanitarian disaster, a
00:14:46truth that collapsed this summer with read,
00:14:49walking back into the same bog, hoping for better
00:14:53outcome in the fight. "the hooth is enter stronger than
00:14:57before and Washington has so far refused to
00:15:00join and
00:15:04switching gears now immediately after blind siding
00:15:08Ukraine with news about its diesel deal with Russia,
00:15:11Donald Trump decides to up the antes suggesting it's time for
00:15:15new leadership in Ukraine, should have never
00:15:19started, you wouldn't have lost 30% of your country
00:15:22already, you've lost 30% of your country."
00:15:25and you've had over million people, but he could
00:15:29have settled it many times, and he chose not to. that's a war that should have
00:15:33never started, and I think it's time for Ukraine to get new
00:15:36president. It does appear that Zelensky
00:15:40has fallen out of grace in an unprecedented
00:15:44manner for Donald Trump to come out and not only say that
00:15:48you
00:15:48do it's time for for Ukraine to to get another leader for him
00:15:52to come out and say it's Zelensky's fault
00:15:56that a peace agreement still hasn't been reached that he
00:16:00has denied offer after peace offer
00:16:04coming up with his own conditions we've - was
00:16:07seen this happen multiple times, but for the president the United
00:16:11States to come out and say so, he's again unprecedented
00:16:15and hugely, hugely damaging
00:16:19for Zelensky himself. Zelensky needs to
00:16:23hang on every single thread of
00:16:27legitimacy that he can. This is the same Zelensky whose
00:16:30presidential term expired years ago.
00:16:34This is the same Zelensky who has refused. elections
00:16:38saying, it's it's simply too difficult, even as Russia
00:16:41has held elections along frontline
00:16:45settlement uh, included, so there's
00:16:49certainly the the diplomatic pressure that is being
00:16:52piled on Zelensky, as for Russia, Donald
00:16:55Trump thanked Russia for all the diesel
00:16:59that will now be supplied to the United States.
00:17:03Russia agreed to send us millions
00:17:06and millions of barrels of oil and
00:17:10it's diesel, that's what we really need, so thank
00:17:13you. there's a build up to this, this didn't come
00:17:17out the blue, you had the United States,
00:17:21you with the conflict with Iran, there's been a huge
00:17:25shortage
00:17:26in global oil supplies, the United
00:17:29States, it's you, it's a common phrase, people vote at
00:17:33the pump, the price of uh petrol,
00:17:37price of diesel are hugely important for
00:17:41American voters as well as for the
00:17:44American uh economy, for the
00:17:47financial system, they depend on cars, on vehicles to get
00:17:51to and from work to transport goods a
00:17:55manner that you
00:17:56know few European nations depend on,
00:18:00there you have the United States under pressure due to the conflict with
00:18:04Iran, asking Russia to supply with diesel fuel. to keep
00:18:08prices low ahead of elections, incredibly important for
00:18:12Donald Trump, and Donald Trump comes out publicly
00:18:15repeatedly asking Zelensky to cool it with
00:18:18strikes on Russian oil refineries. It doesn't matter if that
00:18:22Russian oil is going to the United States or to other countries, the point
00:18:26is to supply global oil markets to keep
00:18:30prices low. What are Zelensky do? Zelensky comes out and
00:18:33says we're going to burn it all. Is...
00:18:38and at this moment when we are talking about peace, America is allowing Russia to
00:18:42export diesel, it's millions, billions and any case,
00:18:46all of this is directed for war against the people, against Ukraine, against all
00:18:50of us, I believe our team is just being used as a facade, and that's
00:18:53definitely not fair, this is definitely not very partner-like in my
00:18:57opinion, this is a weak solution, unfortunately it's a weak
00:19:00decision by strong partners, it's absolutely
00:19:04stunning Zelensky, entirely
00:19:08dependent on the United States for communications,
00:19:11for intelligence, for munitions, many different types of
00:19:15munitions for
00:19:16the F-16 jets. Communications, again it can't be
00:19:20overstated. Starling, the entire Ukrainian military
00:19:24is based on communicating via Starling, that's their
00:19:28entire command and control structure. Again,
00:19:31dependent on the United States every day for this
00:19:35conflict, feels come. able enough to come
00:19:39out and criticize publicly Donald Trump
00:19:43call him weak on the eve of
00:19:46elections and expect to get away
00:19:50with it, that is Zelensky's approach,
00:19:53and that is why Russia has said time and time
00:19:57again that this isn't a person that can be
00:20:01dealt, reason or negotiated with. At
00:20:05every turn, will choose
00:20:09escalate, be it with russia or with the
00:20:12people that feed, supply, include his
00:20:16army, this is essentially zelensky's
00:20:20worst nightmare, when the statements
00:20:23were published, then they made the
00:20:27rounds, all over the world, zelensky
00:20:30began frantically calling European
00:20:34leaders essentially trying to... their support
00:20:38for them to come out and publicly say, despite what Trump is
00:20:42saying, we stand with Zelensky, frantically,
00:20:46there was, there were reports of four calls that...
00:20:50would uh stop calls with other European leaders when others
00:20:54would pick up, it was, it was chaos.
00:20:57nevertheless, nevertheless, this is for Zelensky, Russia
00:21:01and the United States trading after
00:21:04a break of four and a half years, well
00:21:08that is nightmare for Zelensky, it
00:21:12means that the these attempts to isolate Russia
00:21:15to pretend that 12% the world's
00:21:19surface.
00:22:20Russia saddled with the most severe
00:22:23sanctions in recorded history, and
00:22:27Zelensky is coming out and saying, well we need more
00:22:30sanctions. Russia, which is again
00:22:34stood up to Ukraine's assaults,
00:22:361,600 drones launched at
00:22:39night, and Zelensky is saying we just need to launch
00:22:43more drones. This is the reason that Marshall
00:22:47says again, he can't be negot. with and they need
00:22:51to be new elections in Ukraine,
00:22:54sentiment that seemingly has now reached the
00:22:58United States. Well, Donald Trump
00:23:01isn't the only one who thinks Zelensky has gone too
00:23:05far. The US president's criticism was supported by
00:23:09tech industry tycoon Elon Musk. Now for more on that and other
00:23:13indept coverage, you can head over to our website
00:23:16RT.com.
00:23:21"Now Donald Trump insists that the US wouldn't attack Iran, at
00:23:25least before
00:23:26the American elections next month. However, he has hinted that the
00:23:30fighting may resume after the vote. We are having
00:23:34productive discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran. I want to make
00:23:37it clear to everybody that while Iran is in very bad
00:23:41condition, both economically and militarily, and while the
00:23:44bloccade will remain in full force in effect, with oil flowing in
00:23:48record numbers of barrels. through the Hormus Straight, 22 million
00:23:52barrels last night alone, with not one barrel coming
00:23:56from or going to Iran. We will not be attacking Iran at
00:24:00any time prior to the mid-term elections to be held in the United States
00:24:04on November 3rd. Iran will not have nuclear
00:24:07weapon. And while Trump praises
00:24:11his his war on Iran, the facts seem to paint a
00:24:15very different picture. A congressional report has
00:24:19revealed that. more than 80 us aircrafts were damaged or
00:24:23destroyed as a cost of around 3.3 billion
00:24:26dollars. the Irans foreign minister has said that the US
00:24:30military suffered far greater losses than it admits and
00:24:34claims. the real tol is far higher.
00:24:38proof: sencom won't let a sitting senator inspect
00:24:46war on Iran, one question is up in the air. are us?
00:24:50is actually fine. now the latest report from congress indicates that
00:24:54losses for the
00:24:55United States so far have been modest, 81
00:24:59aircraft down or damaged and financial hit of up to
00:25:02$3.3 billion dollars. however, the report raises a bigger
00:25:06question, which is, are US congressmen and congress
00:25:10women being given accurate information about pentagon
00:25:13losses? these reported incidents may raise several considerations for
00:25:17congressional oversight, congress may ass whether or not it has
00:25:21sufficient information and time to evaluate the potential effects of
00:25:24aircraft damage and losses in US military operations and
00:25:28potential DOD plans or programs to acquire
00:25:31replacements. But how much damage have U.S. bases actually
00:25:35suffered in the war. At this point, Trump and Hexithh insist the
00:25:39war is going well for the United States and that Iran has been annihilated, but it's
00:25:43widely acknowledged that Iran attacked more than 15 US bases
00:25:47throughout the region. At this point we have. Trump
00:25:50insisting that nothing substantial has been lost. Take this
00:25:54recent response to a question about a US base that was attacked in
00:25:57Georden. Nope, none whatsoever, no damage,
00:26:01nothing. In the meantime, the Pentagon has declined to
00:26:05comment on the actual scale the damage. That's why we've
00:26:09got congressional reports like this. The congressional budget
00:26:13office is unable to estimate the cost of damage to US bases and
00:26:16facilities in the Middle East for two reasons. First, the Department of
00:26:20Defense has not provided the congressional budget office with information about the
00:26:24value of damaged or destroyed equipment and property. Second, the
00:26:28extent of repairs or rebuilding that the Department of Defense plans to undertake
00:26:32is unclear, and even if the bases were fully repaired or rebuilt, a
00:26:36portion the cost of doing so could be paid by host nations. last
00:26:40month, report from the department of defenses, inspector general said
00:26:44that quote, hundreds of buildings and structures had been
00:26:47destroyed or damaged at US military bases in
00:26:51Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates,
00:26:55Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, and Jordan, but it
00:26:59stopped short of giving a price tag for the damage. Now we
00:27:03have some voices coming from the military speaking up as to why that might
00:27:07be. They blew the hell out of Bahrain. This is major damage
00:27:10to our bases that hasn't been communicated to the American public. We're
00:27:14standing there with our eyes closed, getting punched in the face. Senators
00:27:18are starting to ask questions. US senator and democrat Chris
00:27:22Murphy recently tried to inspect the US military base
00:27:26in Cutter. By his own account, he was denied access. He
00:27:30says it looks like there are certain things. Trump administration is trying to
00:27:34keep out of public eye, something unprecedented happened during my trip to the
00:27:37Middle East, and that is this: I have been
00:27:40denied total access to US military facilities in the
00:27:44region, in particular in Cutter, the ULUdeed Air Force Space,
00:27:48which is one of our biggest and most important facilities in the region. This
00:27:52is Secretary Hegseth, deliberately trying to
00:27:56cover up the extent of damage, likely in the billions of
00:28:00dollars trying to cover up the true. cost of this war, trying
00:28:03to hide the actual consequences of a war that is
00:28:07spiraling out of control by the day. Pentagon
00:28:10officials say that Chris Murphy's office was informed before he left that he
00:28:14would be denied access to the base in compliance with the
00:28:18March 3rd order from Secretary Hegseth restricting travel to the
00:28:22area. The question must be asked, what was the actual cost of this
00:28:26military campaign, Washington is calling victorious. And what
00:28:30is it about inspecting these? bases and fortresses that
00:28:34Washington does not want to be revealed. Caleb Mopen, RT.
00:28:38New York. A
00:28:42top Soviet general who helped liberate Europe from the
00:28:45Nazis has been honored with the newly unveiled
00:28:49monument in Slovakia. And the statue of Marshall Ivan
00:28:53Konev was erected near the site the battle of
00:28:57Duclap where the red army won a strategic
00:29:00victory. The monument was a... initiated by Slovakia's Prime
00:29:04Minister Robert Fitto and one of his cabinet members
00:29:07praised the effort. Marshall
00:29:11Kanyef made a significant contribution to the liberation of
00:29:14Czechoslovakia. Nowadays in Europe. On the contrary, there
00:29:18is tendency to remove such monuments. Now
00:29:22last month, another monument was unveiled in France,
00:29:26honoring Soviet women who fought against the Nazis
00:29:29as part the French resistance. Now. During World War II,
00:29:33Nazi forces sent captured Soviet women to this part of
00:29:37northeastern France to work as slaves in iron
00:29:41or minds. The new monument was supported by the
00:29:44embassies of Russia and Belarus. Now a senior diplomat
00:29:48emphasized the importance of remembering these historic
00:29:52heroes.
00:29:56Currently the situation is difficult. The attitude towards our country in France,
00:30:00unfortunately, to put it mildly. leaves much to be desired, as such
00:30:04events of this nature are, I would say a unique occurrence in western Europe,
00:30:08because in reality there is currently a trend in European countries towards
00:30:11demolishing and destroying soviet monuments, whereas here in France
00:30:15we are unveiling monument to soviet heroes,
00:30:19now we got comments from a grand daughter of soviet marshall Ivan
00:30:23konev regarding the new monument in the EU member state
00:30:27of
00:30:27Slovakia.
00:30:41is without a
00:30:43This event doubt absolutely extraordinary, given the current climate in Europe and the way the red
00:30:46armies roll in liberating the continent is viewed today. This is a highly significant
00:30:50and heartwarming occasion for me. We are deeply grateful to the prime minister of
00:30:54Slovakia Robert Fizzo for unveiling this monument and for refusing to be
00:30:58intimidated by how the rest of Europe.
