00:00:00of World War
00:00:00II,
00:00:11of
00:00:21and he should have an election, and he can't raise the price of
00:00:24oil, it's not enough. Donald Trump says Kief needs a
00:00:28new leader, as Washington. lift sanctions on Russian diesel supplies
00:00:32and that decision is
00:00:34of deemed weak by Vladimir Zelensky and prompts a Ukrainian delegation to
00:00:38immediately leave the United
00:00:39States. The huti's worn
00:00:43against anyone using Saudi airspace and it comes after devastating
00:00:47strike
00:00:48of on Riyad's main airport, leaving 12 people dead and more
00:00:52than 300 wounded. The hooutis confirmed to RT that they were behind
00:00:56the
00:00:57in attack. These attacks are yemeny attacks. We do not do this out of
00:01:01revenge or to take vengeance, but rather to force the Saudi leadership to accept
00:01:04a comprehensive and permanent peace by agreeing to end the war.
00:01:08of As rady attacks are now intensifying across southern Lebanon, they're
00:01:11increasingly striking areas beyond the shifting boundaries of its
00:01:15so-called
00:01:16of yellow zone. As IDF
00:01:18of strikes of on Lebanon go on unabated, the country's prime minister has
00:01:21acknowledged the crippling budget deficit leaving financial recovery
00:01:25a distant prospect. Despite offers
00:01:27of of support from
00:01:29of Hezbollah. Most
00:01:30of the village was destroyed, there is no sign of life. People
00:01:34were given ready-made housing units to live in, but they are completely bear.
00:01:38of There's nothing inside. Life is difficult due to the constant presence of
00:01:42aircraft and ongoing strikes. We are always
00:01:46of anxious.
00:01:54It's a busy Sunday at RT International. My name is Ugoor Piskanov and it's
00:01:58great to have your company. Immediately after
00:02:02in blindsiding Ukraine with the news about Washington's diesel deal with Russia,
00:02:06Donald Trump has up to the anti suggesting it's time for new
00:02:09leadership in Kieve. Is Zelensky
00:02:14of delaying peace because he can't hold elections while you created that war.
00:02:17Well, I think he should have an
00:02:19of election and he could have settled this many times
00:02:22and he should have an election and he
00:02:26can't raise the
00:02:27of price of of oil, it's not enough. It does appear. that Zelensky
00:02:31has fallen out of grace and an unprecedented
00:02:34manner for Donald Trump to come out and not only say that you
00:02:38know it's time for for Ukraine
00:02:41to to get another leader for him to come out and say it's
00:02:44Zelensky's fault that a peace agreement
00:02:48still hasn't been reached that he has denied
00:02:52offer after peace offer coming up with his own
00:02:55conditions we've of course seen this happen multiple times.
00:03:00for the president
00:03:01of the united states to
00:03:02of come out and say so is again
00:03:05of unprecedented and hugely, hugely
00:03:08damaging for Zelensky himself.
00:03:11Zelensky needs to hang to
00:03:14every single thread of legitimacy that he
00:03:18can. This is the same Zelensky whose presidential term
00:03:22expired years ago. This is the same Zelensky
00:03:26who has refused election saying,
00:03:29it's it's... too difficult even as Russia has held
00:03:33elections along frontline settlementts
00:03:37of uh included, so there's certainly the the
00:03:40diplomatic pressure that is being piled on
00:03:44Zelensky. As for Russia, Donald Trump thanked
00:03:47Russia for all the diesel that will now be supplied
00:03:51to the United States.
00:03:54of Russia agreed to send
00:03:55of us millions and millions of barrels
00:03:59of... oil and it's diesel, that's what we really
00:04:02need, so thank you, there's a
00:04:06of build up to this,
00:04:07of this didn't come out
00:04:08of the blue, you had the United States, with the
00:04:12conflict with Iran, there's been a
00:04:15of huge shortage in global oil
00:04:18supplies, the United States, it's you know it's a
00:04:21common phrase, people vote at the pump,
00:04:25of of the price of
00:04:27a petrol, the price of diesel are huge. important
00:04:31for American voters as well as for the American
00:04:36a economy,
00:04:37of for the financial system, they depend on cars, on vehicles
00:04:41to get to and from
00:04:43of work to transport goods
00:04:48of in a manner that you few European nations depend on, there you have the United
00:04:52States under pressure due to the conflict
00:04:54of with Iran, asking Russia to supply it with diesel fuel to
00:04:58keep
00:04:58of prices of lower ahead of a... elections incredibly important for
00:05:02Donald Trump and Donald Trump comes out publicly
00:05:05repeatedly asking Zelensky to cool it with
00:05:09strikes on Russian oil refineries. It doesn't matter. that Russian
00:05:13oil is going to the United States or to other countries, the point
00:05:16is to supply global oil markets to keep
00:05:20prices low. What does Zelenski do? Zelensky comes out and
00:05:24says, we're going to burn it all.
00:05:27Ukraine will be prepared to see strikes on Russian oil refineries if
00:05:31Russia stops attacking our energy infrastructure. Any de-escalation
00:05:35steps must be reciprocal and accompanied by genuine
00:05:38guarantees. This is essentially Zelensky.
00:05:43worst nightmare, when the statements
00:05:46were published, then they made the
00:05:50rounds, all over the world, Zelensky
00:05:53began frantically calling uh European
00:05:57leaders, essentially trying to garn their support
00:06:01for them to come out and publicly say, despite what Trump is
00:06:05saying, we stand with Zelensky frantically,
00:06:09there was there were reports of four calls that he
00:06:13would stop calls with other European leaders when others
00:06:17would pick up, it was it was chaos,
00:06:20nevertheless, nevertheless, this is for zelensky,
00:06:23russia and the united states trading
00:06:26after a break of four and
00:06:30a half years, well that is nightmare for
00:06:34zelensky, it means that the these attempts to
00:06:37isolate russia to pretend the 12%
00:06:41the world surface. doesn't exist, something that the
00:06:45Europeans have been trying very hard to do, that that
00:06:48isn't working, worse than that, Zelensky's own
00:06:52legitimacy is being questioned by the people who
00:06:55supply most of his
00:06:57munitions.
00:07:07Close down Putin's entire economy, so Russia's mouth shut, don't
00:07:11feed them with your sales. just impose sanctions on their weapons, open
00:07:14Starling to Ukraine, you did open it when you were responding to Iran.
00:07:18There's another way to conduct negotiations that will help push Putin toward negotiations.
00:07:22He doesn't want this. I think that President Trump can do more and as our
00:07:26ally, he should do more. And that is
00:07:29exactly the point that Russia was making when it
00:07:33was saying that Zelensky can't be negotiated
00:07:37with, that he has unrealistic expectations. Four and a
00:07:41half years into. war Russia saddled with the
00:07:45most severe sanctions in recorded
00:07:48history and Zelensky is coming out and
00:07:51saying, well we need more sanctions, Russia, which is
00:07:55again stod up to Ukraine's assaults,
00:07:591,600 drones launched at
00:08:03night, and Zelensky is saying we just need to
00:08:06launch more drones, this is the reason that
00:08:10Marshall says again he can't. be negotiated with and
00:08:14there need to be new elections in Ukraine,
00:08:17sentiment that seemingly has now reached the
00:08:21United States. Keif is not the only one
00:08:25against Washington lifting sanctions on Moscow, though, in fact, the EU
00:08:29will vote on Monday on whether to impose its largest ever package of
00:08:32restrictions.
00:08:36Suspending sanctions on Russian diesel provides Moscow with more revenues to wage
00:08:40war. This is not the time ease pressure on Russia. and Europe won't. On
00:08:43Monday EU foreign ministers intend to approve the biggest set of sanctions listings
00:08:47targeting Russia's war machines since the start the war.
00:08:51Despite Brussels and Kiev singing from the same song sheet, it
00:08:55seems not everyone in Ukraine is in tune with that,
00:08:58and one former MP says the biggest threat to his country comes from
00:09:02Vladimir Zelensky himself. Today, true
00:09:06patriots the country must understand two points.
00:09:09First, Vladimir Zelensky will never agree. to an end to the
00:09:13war, and his continued stay in power is guarantee that the war will
00:09:17continue. second, the continuation the war will result in the
00:09:21total loss of statehood for Ukraine and a catastrophe for its
00:09:24population. it is Zelinski himself whose adequacy and
00:09:28sanity are subject to serious doubt, who is the main enemy of
00:09:31Ukraine and its people? too much is it stake. the people are
00:09:35waiting for justice and decisiveness. Ukraine cannot remain a
00:09:38hostage to the unhealthy ambitions and personal interests of a man has
00:09:42imagined himself to be napoleon, and we spoke with ex-
00:09:46diplomat Andrejenko, a former advisor to Ukraine's prosecutor
00:09:50general, and he said Zelensky was being used as puppet against
00:09:54Trump to undermine him ahead the US election next
00:09:57month. every time since the last two years
00:10:01Zelansky was trying to sabotage Trump and have
00:10:04him be more weaken, weakening his position with the peace deals
00:10:07especially, trying to make them look like fool with the or hitting the oil
00:10:11refineries. to make Trump look like fool on the situation,
00:10:15he is not in control, but the problem is it's not just Zelensky, the people
00:10:18around or Donald Trump w also pushing such narratives, the
00:10:22deep state actors, Brussel's London. are working to
00:10:26Berlin and Paris, they're the ones who are giving Zelinsky the power
00:10:30to move forward on this, and that is the the the biggest
00:10:33issue, today, thank god, Washington cames
00:10:37to its mind, and they understand they can play this show, this puppet
00:10:41for their midterm elections, Zalansky was playing them, now they're gonna play
00:10:45him, and I also talked about this in your studio a couple uh weeks ago
00:10:49that Zelensky will be used to replace the the
00:10:53situation currently be used to replace Zelensky. maybe during the midterms, what is
00:10:56going to be suitable for the president the United States
00:11:00to use Ukraine and it show how Ukraine was using them
00:11:04and again in their show, so this is this is what's really come to,
00:11:08Ukraine is is just puppet in election
00:11:11processes, which hopefully in this situation
00:11:15would come to such a good that there will be a change of government, not
00:11:19just words from President Trump, and there will be actual peace
00:11:22afterwards because of... the rhetoric and the
00:11:26lack of uh professionalism from the leadership
00:11:30within Europe, we're seeing the changes in Europe happening right
00:11:34now with especially the opposition parties in
00:11:38Germany which are now getting the
00:11:41majority the support the population, France is
00:11:45heating up pretty badly, Spain and
00:11:49uh maybe that next is going to be the UK itself, we're going to have
00:11:52also some some sense come from from the people down
00:11:56under to the government, so it's changing, but it's not going to be
00:12:00changing fast enough for the things to cool down
00:12:04and uh basically back back up the
00:12:08situation for peace within Europe. Trump hopefully will
00:12:12continue his rhetoric and not budge for
00:12:15Europe's initiatives of supporting Zelensky,
00:12:19change the leadership in Ukraine together with the Russian Federation, agree
00:12:23upon neutral government. and elections and
00:12:26not have Europe take any part of this, as uh Marco Rubio
00:12:30said a couple weeks ago, Europe's position on
00:12:34negotiating table, it's not there, so this is this
00:12:38is the reality from Washington, they don't see Europe as somebody who they should
00:12:42be talking to the same as Russia, so this is the main goals here, what does
00:12:46Washington and Moscow think, not does what Brussel thinks, Russell is
00:12:49just uh the problem in the situation, that's why it started the
00:12:53negotiating table. as of
00:12:55now: huuti military
00:12:59spokesperson has warned anyone from using Saudi airspace, and that's
00:13:03after 12 people were killed and more than 300 wounded in houti
00:13:06attack on the main international airport in
00:13:09Riad.
00:13:13The Yemani armed forces renew their warning to all shipping companies, airlines,
00:13:17experts, employees, workers and travellers against using Saudi airports
00:13:21and airspace, as they are exposed to targeting and are a theater.
00:13:25for operations by our forces, with the exception the airports of Mecca,
00:13:28al-Mukarrama, and Medina Al-Munawara. We urge everyone to take
00:13:32our warning seriously, and Saudi Arabia bears responsibility for any
00:13:36failed interceptions. Unverified footage circulating
00:13:40online, it used to show smoke rising near the airport, and the site has been
00:13:44evacuated and all flights suspended. Moscow has condemned
00:13:48the strike and called on both sides to abandon attacks on civilian
00:13:51infrastructure. Riyad-based correspondent Muhammad al Rash.
00:13:55said the strike inflicted substantial damage to multiple
00:13:58terminals which handle both domestic and international
00:14:02flights.
00:14:05Indeed, this statement was issued by the Saudi General Authority of Civil
00:14:09Aviation, approximately six hours after the initial announcement made
00:14:13earlier today. It provided details on the number of casualties,
00:14:17confirming 12 dead and 309 wounded, including several
00:14:21in critical condition currently receiving treatment at hospitals in Riyadh.
00:14:25Among the dead were four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshis, one
00:14:29American citizen, one Egyptian, one Jordanian, one
00:14:33Syrian and one Palestinian. May they all rest in peace.
00:14:36Airport operations remain suspended for the time being as a
00:14:40precautionary measure to ensure the safety of facilities and the
00:14:43continuation of operational processes. The recent statement also
00:14:47confirms that efforts are underway to assess the extent the material
00:14:50damages in coordination with authorities. Today's toll may represent the...
00:14:55highest recorded from either huti or Iranian attacks during assaults on the
00:14:58kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I must also mention the attempt to maintain
00:15:02operations at King Fodd International Airport in Damasham, which is
00:15:06situated outside the city. We are currently managing the situation as
00:15:10there is also been an incident outside the airport area. This provides a
00:15:14summary of what has transpired thus far and we are waiting further details
00:15:18regarding the injuries that are being treated. Furthermore, we have received
00:15:21information concerning the extent the damage to that airport. According to our
00:15:25sources, the areas impacted were terminal 3 and terminal 4.
00:15:29Terminal 3 is designated for domestic flights between cities and Saudi
00:15:33Arabia, while Terminal 4 accommodates certain international
00:15:36carriers. A senior houti spokesperson told
00:15:40RT that the group's actions were a direct response to aggression by the
00:15:43Saudies against civilian areas in
00:15:46Yemen. Yes,
00:15:49these attacks are Yemeny attacks after 12 years of Saudi aggression,
00:15:53destroying Yemani infrastructure whether airports, ports, even
00:15:57wedding and funeral halls as well as schools, hospitals and markets. It
00:16:01targeted everything in Yemen and targeted and destroyed all infrastructure,
00:16:05and today it acknowledges that airports are civilian. facilities that must
00:16:08not be targeted under international law, but we say that we deal with Saudi
00:16:12Arabia in kind, and our military operations deep inside the Saudi
00:16:16entity, will continue and will not end except by destroying all Saudi
00:16:20infrastructure belonging to the government, whether military facilities, airports,
00:16:24or even ports and any vital facilities belonging to the Saudi regime.
00:16:28We do not do this out of revenge or to take vengeance, but rather to force the Saudi
00:16:31leadership to accept a comprehensive and permanent peace by agreeing to end the
00:16:35war and end the siege by both sides. "the Saudi leadership can agree
00:16:39to achieve peace, and these are Yemen's demands and
00:16:43this comes amid a rapid escalation the conflict in Yemen, the Futis have
00:16:47released footage which they say shows dozens of fighters from the Saudi
00:16:51backed presidential council surrendering. The video comes that Saudi
00:16:55Arabia and its regional partners plan to step up their military coordination on
00:16:58Monday, raising concerns that the conflict would expand
00:17:02further and draw even more countries in,
00:17:06and the attack..." forces in Yemen say they have
00:17:10destroyed three rocket launch platforms that are used by cuties
00:17:14militants to quote threatened regional security. In fact, the group
00:17:18itself confirmed the Saudi Air Force carried out 59
00:17:22air strikes and missile attacks in just 24 hours, causing multiple
00:17:25casualties. And for more on
00:17:29this, let's cross live now to political consultant at Huzai
00:17:32associates Ahmed Husai. Welcome to the program, sir.
00:17:36Read? has been struck again, the huti spokesperson told
00:17:40us here at RT that the movement is behind the attack, what's the
00:17:44significance of targeting an airport? it's
00:17:48not just the airport that is significance, mean the escalation the
00:17:51ansarulah's aggression against Saudi Arabia
00:17:55has been pushed to the limits, the significance
00:17:59here is the way I see it is, it's part
00:18:02the the regional movement
00:18:06basically since the war of... curted to weaken America's
00:18:10allies, we have the Hithis from the south, we have the Hisbullah
00:18:14from the north, the Iraqi militias, as much as the
00:18:17Iranian attacks on the Gulf are trying to weaken the
00:18:21of course the civilian infrastructure as much as the
00:18:25military, and the Mecca defense pact
00:18:29is active, it appears with Soudie Arabia, Turkey and
00:18:32Pakistan deploying forces reportedly, while yet another
00:18:36Saudi airport... has been hit, what developments are expected next
00:18:40do you think? since the pact was signed, the
00:18:44only way to evaluate its
00:18:47functionality is by seeing turkish as much
00:18:51as Pakistani interventions, either by
00:18:55troops, by military actions,
00:18:57strategic, to the naked eye, we haven't seen those, but
00:19:01basically the moment it is activated then it will be
00:19:04deemed beneficial. and uh President Trump
00:19:08stated uh that uh will make decision quote unquote when
00:19:12asked if the US would join asody strikes against the hooties but
00:19:16what are the implications of a potential US military involvement for
00:19:20Yemen and the region uh
00:19:24before uh I mean before the statement it was clear how the
00:19:28United States of America saw and evaluated the
00:19:31situation in Yemen and didn't they didn't want to interven or
00:19:35even to be involved in that uh matter now, I
00:19:39understand the statement since
00:19:43Saudi is one the most important allies in the region, but at
00:19:46the same time doing it before the midterm elections might pose a
00:19:50threat to the positioning the Republicans within the
00:19:54United States, unless they are doing it because they sense how
00:19:58the movement would be within the United States uh not in
00:20:02favor the Republicans and that's why they wanted to reignite the war
00:20:06before the elections. so that they continue even right after the elections
00:20:10and talking about Saudi Arabia, how vulnerable is
00:20:14its critical infrastructure to missile and drone attacks and can its
00:20:18air defenses handle this threat?
00:20:21uh, it's not as critical as it's advertised on
00:20:25media uh giving that the size of Saudi Arabia is
00:20:28big. we've seen the same thing happening in Iran, it's not easy to
00:20:32protect all the land when the land is big, yet at the same
00:20:35time uh... We have to understand that the infrastructure of
00:20:39course it's important and along with the infrastructure we started to
00:20:43see losses in civilian lives. This is an
00:20:47important escalation that could not and should not. be left
00:20:50unanswered, hence we will see
00:20:54developments on escalations over the next few hours or the next few
00:20:57days. all right, ah, political consultant, huzai
00:21:01associates, thank you so much for taking the time and sharing your thoughts with us
00:21:05on this. thank you. now with Saudi
00:21:09Arabia coming under attack from the hootis a daily basis and the mecha
00:21:13defensive agreement between the kingdom, turkey and Pakistan in
00:21:16force. Ankara, however, has cautioned that it will not.
00:21:29When a state party to this agreement comes under attack, you stand by it to help it
00:21:33defend itself. This is not an offensive agreement. In other words, Turkey
00:21:37will not send its forces to the territory of another state to carry out
00:21:40attack. In Mecca, three leaders signed a promise, attack
00:21:44on one is attack on all, Turkia, Saudi
00:21:48Arabia, Pakistan. two months on that promise is
00:21:51under fire, hoothy missiles and drones keep hitting Saudi airports and
00:21:55oil sites. meeting in Riad, the Mecca Alliance agreed to send
00:21:59forces to the kingdom and quickly, the committee decided
00:22:03to move immediately to the practical implementation the collective defense
00:22:07commitments and to take the necessary measures to provide the agreed military
00:22:10forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in the
00:22:14kingdom. In accordance with the approved arrangements and the national legislation the
00:22:18parties, thereby enhancing ready. military integration and the
00:22:21collective capacity to confront and counter threats. President Erdogan has
00:22:25spelled out what that support could look like. Such
00:22:29support could take the form of intelligence, logistical or ammunition assistance.
00:22:33More advanced military support could also be considered depending on the scale the
00:22:37threat. Ankara case the details to itself and reports are
00:22:41filling the silence, special forces, pilots and aircraft,
00:22:44helping defend Riyad and the Holy Cities. An American official
00:22:48says the help includes Turkish drone. operators, none of it is on the
00:22:51record. Monday's statement does set one condition: forces
00:22:55deploy in accordance with the national legislation of each country. In
00:22:59Turkia, that means parliament, and parliament hasn't even
00:23:03ratified the pact. As for the Mecca agreement, the
00:23:07process here has in fact matured in terms the work done by the
00:23:10ministry, but of course for the agreement to take effect, it will come to
00:23:14parliament, and since this work has matured,
00:23:16it will be sent to parliament within a few days.
00:23:20ambitions reach beyond the red sea. David Bachele, who leads the
00:23:23nationalist MHP, the ruling party's partner in parliament,
00:23:27says the pact will elevate the country to the center of global
00:23:31geopolitics. This is an exceptionally sound and important
00:23:35agreement. It's tendency towards expansion is also of immense
00:23:38strategic value. If these efforts are carried out under Turkey's
00:23:41leadership, this will bring us to the center, making us much more reputable
00:23:45in the world. So the next vote in Ankara is a
00:23:49treaty. not on troops sending soldiers would take second decision of
00:23:53its own. the arithmetic favors the government, the ruling
00:23:56alliance, the justice and development party and the nationalist movement
00:24:00party holds 326 of parliament's 600
00:24:04seats. the largest opposition party wants no part in it, and
00:24:08its leader says signing defense pack with a country at
00:24:12war makes turke a party to that conflict.
00:24:15international agreements will have to be approved in this parliament if there are soldiers and
00:24:21involved, we do
00:24:21not accept being part of Trump's Middle East order, we do not accept the adventurism of
00:24:25Trump, which will send soldiers to the deserts of Yemen for 100
00:24:28years. frames its role as defending Saudi
00:24:32Arabia.
00:24:39The Saudis want to involve regional powers, not only from the Arab
00:24:43arena, but even within the Islamic world, they aim to bring in the
00:24:47turks and entangle them to involve the... as
00:24:50well, seeking their help day and night, calling out for them to assist
00:24:54them, to fight alongside them, to share in the sin and aggression against
00:24:58our dear people. a senior official,
00:25:01says the group doesn't expect turkish or pakistani troops
00:25:05inside yemen, but even indirect help he warns
00:25:09counts as joining the war, and last month he warned
00:25:12Ankara and Islamabad would meet an iron
00:25:16fist. Yasan, RT in Istanbul.
00:25:21"and a surge in IDF strikes on Lebanon, the country's prime
00:25:25minister has acknowledged critical budget shortfall, despite Hezballah
00:25:29offering support, financial recovery remains a distant
00:25:32prospect with Washington trying additionally
00:25:36help to the disarmment the militant group and artist Steve Sevini
00:25:40reports. Well we're in Zult Gabe, one the
00:25:44so-called pilot zones sitting right on the edge of Israel's yellow line, the
00:25:48zone of occupation. hovers overhead watching us omminously
00:25:52and just moments ago there was an air strike as fighter jets raw overhead
00:25:55watching us, Israeli attacks are now intensifying across southern
00:25:59Lebanon, they're increasingly striking areas beyond shifting
00:26:03boundaries of its so-called yellow zone, we have been
00:26:06displaced twice, first in 2024 and again in
00:26:102026. this time the situation was truly tragic,
00:26:13most the village was destroyed, there is no sign of life.
00:26:17people were given ready-made housing units to live in, but they are completely
00:26:21bare. there is nothing inside, even securing water is difficult, and there
00:26:25it is absolutely no electricity. most people sleep by
00:26:29candle light. yeah, due to the
00:26:33constant presence of aircraft and ongoing strikes. We are always
00:26:36anxious. There's nothing here. If I need a water pitcher, I can't find
00:26:40one. I can't even make cup of tea or coffee. There's water, no
00:26:44refrigerator, no bed, no washing machine. There is absolutely
00:26:47nothing.
00:26:48It is extremely difficult. God help the army. It cannot even
00:26:52protect itself. Let alone get the necessary weaponry. How then
00:26:56could it possibly protects civilians? Had there been a strong state a
00:27:00well-armed military, Israel would never have. to invade at
00:27:03least 35 artillery shells hit Mansori. This is village on
00:27:07the end of that zone where the Israeli forces have progressively expanded
00:27:11their area of control. Mansori was then hit again on with air
00:27:15strikes, artillery and major detonations and Israely fire is also
00:27:18reaching well beyond that so-called yellow zone near Maifordun three
00:27:22Israeli artillery shells landed very close to journalists from Aljade and Navatier
00:27:26News uh fortunately there were no injuries in that particular attack but
00:27:30once again it highlights the danger to reporting on Israeli
00:27:33operations as journalists are routinely targeted. Israeli forces
00:27:37attacked 15 southern towns with demolitions reported in six them.
00:27:41and in Hoola, Israeli troops planted explosives inside the Jabellammo
00:27:45public school and then detonated it. just one of many schools destroyed in recent
00:27:49weeks. now all of this came immediately after prime minister now of salam traveled
00:27:53to nearby Nabatier promising reconstruction. his visit however
00:27:57didn't go smoothly. he was confronted by residents demanding to know when they
00:28:01could return home. many angry at what they see is government
00:28:04action, locals use that relative calm around the visit to
00:28:08enter and alfawa and expect and inspect the home sorry for
00:28:12the first time in months, but even as salam spoke, the Israeli attacks were
00:28:16hitting the surrounding area. i am not here to sell you
00:28:19illusions nor to promise what i cannot deliver. we still need
00:28:23significant funding, and it's the cost here that's key. salam previously
00:28:27identified the funding needed at $27 billion US dollars a
00:28:31sum, he says lebanese st. simply doesn't have. Now, following his visit,
00:28:35Hesbollah Secretary General Naim Kassam said that the organization would
00:28:38contribute to shelter and reconstruction for the people displaced from the
00:28:42south. Hez MP, Hassan Fadlal said on Saturday that this
00:28:45pledge would unsettle the United States with Washington insisting that
00:28:49AID is tied to disarmament. We will not discuss the final
00:28:53figures relating to Aid for our people in the housing program as this would come
00:28:57as a shock to the Americans. Well, exactly how much money Hesbollah can
00:29:01provide and when remains. and clear, but the immediate problem isn't simply
00:29:05who pays for reconstruction, it's the expansion the Israeli
00:29:08occupation. uniform has documented Israeli forces operating from
00:29:12nearly 30 positions in southern Lebanon, including eight 45
00:29:15bases. Israeli forces have already pushed beyond their own yellow line in
00:29:19some areas while Israely officials say they want to retain a security
00:29:23zone extending as much as 10 kilometers inside Lebanon.
00:29:27this comes as Salam continues to talk, at least on the surface about
00:29:31Israeli withdrawal. seemingly in contradiction with the reality on the
00:29:35ground. Your priorities will remain our
00:29:38priorities, stopping the Israely attacks, Israel's complete
00:29:42withdrawal from our territory, and the safe and dignified return of
00:29:46people to their homes. Now, the eightth round of talks between Lebanon and
00:29:50Israel is planned for later this month with some saying they will take place in
00:29:53Florida, but months of negotiations had so far produced little
00:29:57concrete change for the people the south. Israel remains inside
00:30:00Lebanon and is expanding its present. while escalating its attacks is
00:30:04noted by uniful observers, hundreds have been killed since the latest
00:30:07supposed ceasefire. cease fire is something which Israel has never really
00:30:11added to. talks about reconstruction seem unrealistic while
00:30:15Israeli destruction continues. so the key question now is whether
00:30:19the negotiations can produce something tangible, that is an
00:30:23end to the attacks and an Israeli withdrawal. all the evidence on the
00:30:27ground suggest that in reality this is something of distant hope.
