00:00:28The Ukraine needs a new leader. and
00:00:30of while Russia has yet to comment,
00:00:33of
00:00:33of Vladimir Zelensky is caught by surprise saying that Kiev will
00:00:36agree if Moscow does the
00:00:38same. The Europeans have
00:00:42given the Russians more money, they have since the started this
00:00:46war then they have given the Ukrainians because they cannot win themselves
00:00:50off Russian energy. Washington
00:00:53blastts the EU's
00:00:55of hypocrisy over
00:00:56a Russian energy imports as German opposition officials.
00:01:00man their own trump style diesel deal with
00:01:02Moscow. It is about ending the sanctions against
00:01:06in Russia, about building the capacity for peace rather than military
00:01:09of readiness. The
00:01:11of majority of people in the state have voted for parties that do not want to continue pursuing this
00:01:14course. At the huti's strike Riyad's
00:01:18main international airport three days in a row, killing more
00:01:22than dozen people and wounding over
00:01:25300.
00:01:35Well, this is RT International, reaching you live from our news center in
00:01:39Moscow, I am my coach. Now Donald
00:01:43Trump
00:01:43of of has claimed that Russia and Ukraine both have agreed to stop
00:01:47attacking each other's energy infrastructure immediately. This
00:01:51comes after Moscow and Washington agreed a half-year deal
00:01:55on diesel
00:01:57me fuel. Effective immediately. there is an energy
00:02:01of sacefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine, both parties have
00:02:05agreed, do not break it. Well, this is the second time
00:02:09in the span of months that Donald Trump has declared surprisingly
00:02:13to the entire world that Russian
00:02:16of Ukraine had agreed to an energy for last time
00:02:20uh Zelensky came out very
00:02:21in quickly and said there's no such deal in place. This
00:02:25time Zelensky has
00:02:27of also come out and said that this is the first time. he's heard of
00:02:30it that if Russia
00:02:35of of and of the United States agreed to an energy seesfire that please inform Ukraine
00:02:39and Ukraine would be willing to join in, which is in star
00:02:43contrast to what Zelensky said previously,
00:02:47the last time Trump had declared an energy see fire between
00:02:51Russia and Ukraine,
00:02:52of Zelensky came out with all manner of conditions uh
00:02:56now under tremendous pressure. with
00:03:00Trump himself coming out, you as well as
00:03:04American senators supporting Trump, congress people
00:03:08coming out and saying that,
00:03:09you know what, perhaps it's time for
00:03:12of Zelensky to go, should have never started, you wouldn't have lost
00:03:1630% of your country
00:03:18a already, you've lost 30% of your country and you've had
00:03:22over million
00:03:23in people killed, but he could have settled it many times and he chose not
00:03:26to, that's a war that should have never
00:03:29of started and I... think it's time for Ukraine to get new
00:03:31president, Donald Trump uh
00:03:35referring there of course to
00:03:37a
00:03:37in the multitude of peace deals that Russia had put
00:03:41forward, that the United States had approved, the
00:03:45deal made between the United States
00:03:47of and Russia anchorage in Alaska during
00:03:50of the meeting between Putin and Trump, they agreed
00:03:53in a framework there, Ukraine rejected it time and time
00:03:57again for years, Ukraine has either rejected.
00:04:09saying these person yous incapable of making a deal, perhaps another should
00:04:13come in, they should hold elections. Zelensky previously
00:04:17had dismissed any notion of elections, his arguments
00:04:21had been that simply too many people
00:04:24have left Ukraine, then Zelensky complained that simply too many
00:04:27people now live as...
00:04:36elections he said are simply impossible, never mind that
00:04:40russia staged elections in september, now the
00:04:44tune has changed, now he's demanding
00:04:47a c 60 days to hold elections in
00:04:51Ukraine, please tell Putin give us
00:04:55two months, 60 days of total
00:04:59cifire. 60 days and we will organize
00:05:02of elections, of course we will be ready for any choice of
00:05:06our people exactly ukrainian
00:05:09of people how quickly to... well
00:05:13changed his mind on elections, now that donald trump against
00:05:16senior united states official, even
00:05:20mask piled on saying that perhaps it is time for Zelensky
00:05:24to move on, for someone new to come in,
00:05:28nevertheless this is all you know in star contrast to Zelensky before, now
00:05:32he's what can only be described this panic
00:05:35mode, you you've had reports, endless reports of
00:05:39him calling European officials seeking their
00:05:43support in both the sp the United
00:05:46States regarding elections, but also America's
00:05:50insistence a halt to strikes on Russian oil
00:05:53refineries, and that is what what is at the root of this?
00:05:57Previously, when Donald Trump very publicly came out and said Ukraine
00:06:01must stop these strikes, Russia, of course before this conflict
00:06:05supplying 20 more than 20% the
00:06:08world's uh global gas supplies.
00:06:12and mass of course, a shortage caused by Ukrainian
00:06:15strikes, it hurts everyone, it is felt by everyone,
00:06:19but no one quise like the United States, where
00:06:23elections depend on the price of uh
00:06:27gas, petrol of diesel at the
00:06:30pump, and the United States and Russia have made it
00:06:33deal whereby Putin has agreed to supply the United
00:06:37States with diesel fuel again, which is
00:06:40manufactured or made. russian refineries
00:06:44which are under attack by ukraine previously when Donald
00:06:48Trump called on Zelensky to hold those strikes
00:06:51Zelensky came out and said no, we're going to
00:06:55burn all them, which led to Donald Trump of
00:06:58course coming out and say that's it's time for Zelensky to
00:07:02go. Stark contrast to what Zelenski
00:07:06said previously, why are they blaming
00:07:10you for the continuation of this war?
00:07:14because these people can't find
00:07:17a key how to stop
00:07:20Putin, because it's
00:07:24more difficult to stop
00:07:27Putin than to pressure
00:07:29others, because it's more
00:07:33simple to speak about the prices and
00:07:36connected with Ukraine, but
00:07:40obvious Russia doesn't depend on the good
00:07:44will the Congress the United States or any European
00:07:48leaders, Russia manufactures, it has its own
00:07:51economy, it has its own sovereign decision making
00:07:55process, Ukraine on the other hand, entirely
00:07:58dependent on the United States, nevertheless we have
00:08:02seen, happening in real time a
00:08:06change in Zelensky's demena from eternal
00:08:09war to much more flexible. approach
00:08:12where again he is trying to
00:08:16appease Donald Trump,
00:08:19now while Donald Trump is trying to broker an energy peace deal
00:08:23between Moscow and Keev. The Kremlin says the Vladimir
00:08:27Zelensky appears to have no intention of resolving the
00:08:31conflict peacefully.
00:08:35Zelensky is a state of histeria if he were capable of deliberate
00:08:38rational action he would be showing inclination toward peace negotiation.
00:08:42right now, but he isn't. Instead, he demands more capabilities, more
00:08:46money, infrastructure access and the green light to strike deep into Russian
00:08:50territory from all his overseas. He demands funds for air
00:08:54defense, long-range weaponry and so on. In short, his
00:08:57esseria drives him to favor aggression against Russia, aggression he believes
00:09:01will be effective. This is a mistake, a tragic mistake for
00:09:05Ukraine. So earlier we spoke with a former US
00:09:09Marine core intelligence officer Scott Ritter. He says that the
00:09:13expiration date for Zelensky making demands has long
00:09:16passed as he's not in the position to dictate any
00:09:20rules. Vlodimir Zelinski, I mean it's it's
00:09:24difficult to call him president, even though he claims that title is, it's been pointed
00:09:27out uh, his mandate expired a while back and he
00:09:31um, hasn't held a new election, but uh,
00:09:35Zelinski is in the position to dictate terms to nobody, uh,
00:09:39he's losing the war on the battlefield, he's losing. the war
00:09:42economically, he's losing the war uh politically,
00:09:46both at home and abroad. um, the the bottom line is
00:09:50that president Trump is absolutely correct here, that uh, it's time for
00:09:54Zelensky to go, the question is uh, who
00:09:57will replace him and will this alter the uh,
00:10:01the the the reality that currently has uh settled in over
00:10:05Ukraine, Ukraine is defeated state, the uh experiment that
00:10:09Europe and the United States foisted on Ukraine, in beginning
00:10:13this conflict um by empowering western Ukrainian
00:10:16nationalists, this experiment has failed, and unless you
00:10:20replace Zelinsky with somebody who recognizes the failure of this
00:10:24experiment. and acts um accordingly, you're just going to get a
00:10:28continuation the same. now US treasury
00:10:32secretary scott b has accused European leaders of hypocrisy
00:10:36after the EU foreign policy chief spoke out against
00:10:40Washington's diesel deal with
00:10:41Moscow. the Europeans have
00:10:45given the Russians more money, they since the started this
00:10:49war then they have given the Ukrainians because they cannot win themselves
00:10:53off Russian. they had a failed
00:10:56energy policy and vladimir putin the
00:11:00they continue to fund him, so for them to
00:11:04say that we cannot have a respit in diesel
00:11:08pricing is completely hypocritical. now
00:11:12Vladimir Zelensky has been stepping up his efforts to secure
00:11:16additional support by reaching out to leaders across Europe. now
00:11:19this comes Amid Trump's latest statements about the Ukrainian
00:11:23politician and need for elections in Ukraine. now he
00:11:27has spoken with heads of state from France and UK and
00:11:31Poland attempt to get their backing. now some
00:11:34the same countries that Zelensky has appealed to
00:11:38clearly have not benefited from breaking up trade
00:11:42relations with Russia, at least according to the data. so
00:11:46in the UK, the fuel crisis brought on by the
00:11:49sanctions on Russian energy have cost its economy,
00:11:53an estimated 100% and 83 billion pounds
00:11:57over four years, including higher household electricity and
00:12:01heating bills. now in France on the other hand, the
00:12:05government's energy tariff shield has helped minimize the
00:12:08impact on consumers with the bank of france estimating its
00:12:12fiscal cost at around 2.2% of GDP over
00:12:16to 2022 and 2023. now in
00:12:20Germany on the other hand, economic losses linked to mitigating the
00:12:23energy crisis, estimated to have exceeded 50 billion
00:12:27euros. now Claudia Witig, a German opposition
00:12:31politician from the BSW party argues that
00:12:34restricting trade with Russia has only hurt Europe and its
00:12:38consumers, particularly in
00:12:40Germany.
00:12:44In that sense, I see no major contradiction acknowledging that peace
00:12:48negotiations with Russia are not within the powers of a state government. In this
00:12:51motion, we call on the federal government to use every means at
00:12:55disposal, including an initiative in the Bundesrad to ensure that
00:12:58diplomacy once again takes priority, that the focus returns to
00:13:02negotiations, and that trade relations with Russia are normalized,
00:13:06the German economy is suffering greatly from the sanctions, which
00:13:09have clearly not helped bring the war to an end, instead they have seriously
00:13:13damaged the economy. Now after the inaugural
00:13:17session the German saxont State Parliament,
00:13:21opposition parties, the AFD and BSW plan
00:13:25introduce the first joint draft resolution, the
00:13:29proposal calls on the parliament to declare that sanctions
00:13:32against Russia as well as military and financial support for
00:13:36Ukraine have failed. now we spoke with law makers from
00:13:40both parties to understand the motivations driving this
00:13:44initiative.im
00:13:49that Ukraine can defeat Russia and the other they claim that Russia is about to
00:13:53attack NATO. neither these. is internally consistent, and it
00:13:57is our task including from within parliament, to refocus attention on
00:14:00the fact that these issues are being discussed a completely misguided way, and
00:14:04we are also showing here in Saxonian help, that a political shift has taken
00:14:08place and that the majority of people in the state have voted for parties
00:14:11that do not want to continue pursuing this course. For the BSW, one
00:14:15the central issues throughout our election campaign was the genuine and consistent
00:14:19implementation of a peace policy, and we also know from services that the
00:14:23majority of AFD voters won precise.
00:14:55and that is why this motion is so important, it is about ending the sanctions
00:14:59against Russia, about building the capacity for peace rather than military
00:15:02readiness. Chancellor Murtz said that we must become ready for war, no, we
00:15:06must become committed to peace, we want peace in the world, that is why
00:15:10it is so important to initiate this debate and revive it here in
00:15:13Germany, so that the war can be brought to an end through
00:15:16diplomacy. want to know more
00:15:20about what lies behind the diesel deal between Moscow and Washington
00:15:24and whether it's can be a turning point in the conflict, head to our
00:15:28website rt.com for more in-depth
00:15:30analysis.
00:15:34now on the latest edition of going underground, host Afshin
00:15:38Rathansi speaks economist and public policy analyst
00:15:42Jeffrey Sax about the recklessness of European elites and the
00:15:46growing risk of nuclear conflict with Russia. You can watch
00:15:50the full interview here on our website RT.com, for
00:15:54now here is a quick preview of it. You also have been talking to
00:15:57EU officials as far as I understand. What is your... I
00:16:00mean, you're unable to persuade them,
00:16:03but what is your impression
00:16:05of why they don't even seem to be that? fearful the prospect of
00:16:08nuclear war? well, first of all, we have
00:16:12pundits and we have officials that say, oh, that's a
00:16:15bluff,
00:16:17you know, this threat of nuclear weapons. these
00:16:20people are so unbelievably
00:16:23reckless with your life and my life and my children's lives
00:16:27and my grandchildren's lives. i can't even tell you how disgusted i
00:16:31am by this uh blaz
00:16:35attitude. we are. "we are
00:16:38at dire risk of blowing ourselves up and
00:16:42to deny it and then just talk provocatively
00:16:46and Russia hate talk and oh
00:16:50yes maybe we can take Calliningrad and on and on
00:16:54this kind of recklessness is shocking. don't these people
00:16:58understand anything? apparently
00:17:01not. this is
00:17:02but by the way when I spoke with uh
00:17:06one" very nice European official, and I
00:17:10said, just say NATO is not going to enlarge, he
00:17:14said, um, oh, well,
00:17:16you know, the United States has has said
00:17:19that to to President Putin, I
00:17:23said, uh, yeah, it may be true, they said it
00:17:26privately, they didn't follow through, and your government has
00:17:30never said it, so why don't you say it publicly, and he looked
00:17:34at a little quizically like, That was new
00:17:38thought. Oh, that's interesting. Yeah, let me think about
00:17:41that. Do they not understand
00:17:45what's going on? I don't know, I really don't know. It's a
00:17:49shocking to me that this is continued in this
00:17:53way for years, but I think that there is
00:17:57a tremendous amount of incompetence
00:18:00and howardis and unwillingness
00:18:04these politicians to admit. basic
00:18:08truths and that that keeps this going, it's just
00:18:12absolutely
00:18:13disastrous.
00:18:19now Keyev's diplomatic missteps aren't just limited to its
00:18:23dealings with the United States. now artist Isabella Bloomberg
00:18:27explains how over the past month Zelensky has
00:18:30managed to anger Hungary's new pro Nato government,
00:18:34Poland and now South Korea.
00:18:38Keev's diplomacy certainly has one talent, that is
00:18:42making foes out of friends from east to west. Vladimir Zelenski
00:18:46picked a fight with the one backer he cannot afford to lose.
00:18:50Washington after Trump got a diesel deal with Russia.
00:18:54Any easing of sanctions against Russia without clear and lasting deescalation
00:18:57agreement with Russia is a sign of obvious weakness. It plays into Russia's
00:19:01hands, emboldening it to kill more, fight longer, show even less
00:19:05respect for America and inflict even losses and dame upon the
00:19:09world that top of zelensky publicly demanding president
00:19:14in shut.
00:19:16not we diplomatic are dead end, shut down his entire economy,
00:19:20so Russia's mouth shut. don't feed them with your sales, just
00:19:24impose sanctions on their weapons. open starling to
00:19:27Ukraine. you did open it when you were responding to
00:19:30Iran. there's another way to conduct negotiations that will help push Putin
00:19:34toward negotiations. he doesn't want this. "I think that President Trump
00:19:38can do more and as our ally, he should do more. Those words came
00:19:42after Zelensky reportedly ignored at least six American
00:19:46requests to finally stop striking Russian oil refineries, and the
00:19:49Ukrainian leader isn't stopping at America, because he's also been
00:19:53dragging China in. We keep waiting until China has
00:19:57its own Starlink analogue and hands it to the Russians. Where is the truth in
00:20:01that? Where is the honesty? What Zelensky left
00:20:05out is the fact that Ukraine..." already has Starling and its army
00:20:09has run on it since 2022. This isn't of Zelensky's concern
00:20:13as he's been busy with South Korea beef. This has
00:20:17already led Saul to announce it would recall its ambassador after
00:20:21Zelensky publicly revealed the transfer of North Korean prisoners
00:20:24of war, breaching confidentiality and putting their families
00:20:28at risk. Regarding the repatriation of
00:20:32North Korean prisoners of war, the Ukrainian side demanded confidentiality and
00:20:36agreed to it. but unilaterally disclosed it, and when the president the
00:20:40Republic of Korea expressed regret with the utmost courtesy, they claimed
00:20:44there was no agreement, making the head of state the other country out to be
00:20:47liar. If you continue to refuse to acknowledge the facts and issue a
00:20:51public apology, we will take additional measures, as this is matter
00:20:55concerning the honor the Republic of Korea's people and nation. We cannot
00:20:59overlook it. Instead of apologizing, Ukraine poured
00:21:03fuel on the fire by escalating tensions between north and South
00:21:07Korea. So what did Ukraine offer soul in
00:21:09response? I've
00:21:12been exchanging messages continuously with the Ukrainian foreign
00:21:15minister. He's very troubled by the situation and I receive messages.
00:21:20containing apology, however, it falls short the level that we
00:21:23expected, and so we intend to take decisive action.
00:21:27clearly for Saul, Kiev's version of apology wasn't good
00:21:31enough. another case in point, Kieve is now playing with its ties to
00:21:35Hungary's new government. last month, Hungary's prime minister traded
00:21:39barbs with Ukraine's foreign minister. Peter Magya denied that
00:21:42Budapest had joined the proposed Carpatian aight initiative,
00:21:46regional block to exclude Russia, insisting that Hungary...
00:21:50had never consented to membership. To
00:21:54claim that sovereign country is member of an international cooperation,
00:21:57Carpathian integration without prior consultation or consent the country
00:22:01concerned is completely unacceptable. Just to give you an example:
00:22:05hi, we have formed football team in the next village. We don't know each other,
00:22:09but you are in it, and you have to bring the ball. And if you think it ends
00:22:12there, remember Poland. Tentences escalated sharply after
00:22:16Zelensky named a special forces unit after the Ukrainian and
00:22:20surgeant army, also known as the UPA, a militia responsible
00:22:24for the Verlinea massacre of tens of thousands of Polish
00:22:27civilians during the second world war, that together with the
00:22:31ceremonial reburial of Andre Milnik, leader the organization of
00:22:34Ukrainian nationalists that gave the start to the UPA.
00:22:38Warsaw was outraged. Unfortunately, President
00:22:42Zelensky has demonstrated that Ukraine in terms of its mentality
00:22:45regarding the glorification of bandits and murderers from the Ukrainian
00:22:49insurgent. is not ready to be part the European family,
00:22:52because in the European family, bandits and murderers who killed women and children,
00:22:56murdered poles cannot be
00:22:58glorified,
00:23:02decisions regarding our shared
00:23:05that these history, and the glorification the UPA by naming military units after
00:23:09them are something that will not be accepted in Poland, regardless of
00:23:12political
00:23:13affiliation
00:23:17to block Ukraine and
00:23:20it starling funding or the Polish president strips Zelensky of Poland's highest
00:23:24honor, the order the White Eagle. So, with Ukraine's grid
00:23:28in ruins, its front lights starved of manpower, and air defenses
00:23:32gone, Kiev has found the one thing it still can do, target
00:23:36those, it can't survive
00:23:37without. And moving on
00:23:41now, an Indian frigate has arrived in Vladivor stock to
00:23:45participate in joint exercises with the Russian navy. Now
00:23:49footage show. the naval vessel entering the port
00:23:53and Russia greeting the Indian captain as he
00:23:56disembarks, the Russian commander noted that the
00:23:59exercises were not for protocol but were a symbol the
00:24:03strong friendship and the long-term strategic partnership between the
00:24:07two great nations. other visiting nation thanked its host
00:24:11for the warm welcome and expressed confidence that the planned
00:24:15drills will be quote productive and useful. now the official
00:24:18opening ceremony the Indra 2026 exercises is
00:24:22scheduled for October 13th and will run through
00:24:26October
00:24:2718th.
00:24:31And let's head to the Middle East now the Yemen Hothies have struck an international
00:24:35airport in Saudi Arabia in the capital several times over the past
00:24:39week. Now this video behind me shows the most
00:24:43devastating of those attacks. Authorities say total of
00:24:4617 people were killed in more than 300.
00:25:28These attacks are Yemeny attacks. We do not do this out of revenge or to take
00:25:32venge, but rather to force the saudi leadership to accept a
00:25:35comprehensive.
00:26:23Now when asked about the conflict, Donald Trump said that it could be
00:26:27possible that the Americans could join in the fight to support their
00:26:31allies Saudi Arabia. The IT correspondent Muhammad Al
00:26:34Rashid has that story. There are
00:26:38heavy casualties from Huthi attacks on King Khalid International Airport in
00:26:41Riyad. The death toll is expected to continue to rise with many wounded
00:26:45among Saudi citizens and foreigners. The coalition views these attacks as the
00:26:49beginning of a full-scale war and heinous act that is contrary to generally accepted
00:26:53values and moral standards. The response will be fierce and in
00:26:56accordance with the norms of international humanitarian law, amid
00:27:00international condemnation Islamabed. reaffirms its position under the
00:27:04Mecca Defense Agreement as well as its commitments to ensuring the kingdom security
00:27:08and sovereignty. Statements by the US president regarding the possibility of
00:27:11strikes against the hooties open up the prospect of definitive resolution to
00:27:15the Yemen crisis. The kingdom declares that the hoothi strikes constitute
00:27:19an act of terrorism that runs counter to moral principles and
00:27:23humanitarian values against this backdrop. Saudi Arabia is
00:27:26garnering international Islamic and Arab support for its position and the
00:27:30measures it is taking safeguard it. sovereignty and
00:27:33security, the coalition is threatening decisive response by
00:27:37invoking the collective deterrance mechanism under the Mecca pact a mid the
00:27:40prospect of US intervention, the standoff with the hoothis is approaching a
00:27:44dangerous turning point. The key question is how far the conflict will
00:27:48expand and whether new actors from outside Yemen and Saudi Arabia will become
00:27:52involved. So we spoke with Saudi political
00:27:56researcher Khalid Batarfi, and he believes that Washington has
00:28:00already been drawn into the conflict.
00:28:04the US is imported already by providing
00:28:07intelligence and cooperate in many
00:28:10matters, security
00:28:13matters, also by profiding what
00:28:17s forces needed of equipment
00:28:20and innovation, what you are talking about is
00:28:23whether the united state will help
00:28:27in attacking this
00:28:31sources of fire. and whether they will
00:28:35support directly the y government, well that's
00:28:38a matter to be considered and according to Trump he didn't
00:28:42decided yet, but a country as fast as
00:28:46Saudi Arabia, so many cities, so
00:28:49many oil installation, so many ports, we have
00:28:5328 airports in Saudi Arabia, so
00:28:56protecting this much land and this
00:28:59much facilities, will
00:29:02require lots of investment, lots of
00:29:06work, and I believe they are working on this, the other
00:29:09side is getting improved
00:29:13abilities like the new missiles they
00:29:17are using against Saudi Arabia, they have all
00:29:20the the fingerprints of
00:29:24Iran
00:29:24on on that, and they have also Iranian
00:29:28expert and Lebanese and others helping them.
00:29:32to do that, so let us wait and see, but I expect
00:29:36Saudi Arabia to improve its facility as well, to
00:29:40respond to all this new
00:29:42development. Well, RT.com is
00:29:46where you can get further details of all our stories. I'll see you again at top the
00:29:49hour.
00:29:50Bye!
