00:00:01I think I think the Mackey Alliance is very good uh step in
00:00:04a the right direction, it
00:00:06of just it was signed less than a month ago, I think it's very important that the
00:00:10world is shifting from unilateral world order to
00:00:14multilateral world order, so having these
00:00:17of alliances within the Muslim world and having alliances and
00:00:20strategic energy partnership with Russia,
00:00:24strategic economic partnership with China, strategic
00:00:27security and economic partnership with the EU and the United
00:00:31States is very important to not to rely on
00:00:34one order
00:00:37of against another, so Saudi Arabia played a big role even in
00:00:40mediation between Russia and the Ukraine and freeing
00:00:44president of between both country, because the
00:00:48relationship is very very very good with Russia,
00:00:52a of so I i think the mecca alliance is taken
00:00:56shape and Pakistan sent equipment and
00:01:00sent advisors and sent soldiers to the kingdom
00:01:03and Turkey also sent sharing intelligence with Saudi Arabia, so it's
00:01:07ongoing
00:01:09in process. Faisal al Shamadi is
00:01:11of a colonist at Arab News a Makacca newspaper, and thank you very
00:01:14much for your time and commentary live on RT international, we appreciate
00:01:18it. Thank you
00:01:19of sir, thank you. Well, former British diplomat, Craig
00:01:23Mary believes the UK's colonial legacy has led Yemen
00:01:27to the die situation it's in today while. money that Europe's made
00:01:31out
00:01:31of the conflict raises serious questions about, well true geopolitical
00:01:35intentions. Latest guess, by the way, on the Sanchez effect is a small
00:01:38preview, and
00:01:42um, there have been conflicts in in
00:01:45in Kenya recently,
00:01:46in in recent years, yeah, um, which go back to
00:01:50British disposession
00:01:52of the land, bitten, ethnically
00:01:55cleansed large areas of Kenya to put in white farmers
00:01:58instead, and... that caused um
00:02:02certain tribes to be moved from their land cleared into urban
00:02:05areas where they became in conflict with other tribes
00:02:09who were already there and and that is actually the
00:02:13of direct cause of recent conflict in Kenya, if you look at
00:02:16Yemen, it was a British occupation of
00:02:20Aden and the south of Yemen which caused an ident much
00:02:24of the identity conflict between the north and south of those
00:02:26countries, but the number of current...
00:02:30conflicts, Britain of course
00:02:32of invented the very concept of Saudi Arabia uh and installed the
00:02:36royal
00:02:36of family, the roots of how many modern
00:02:39conflicts go back to
00:02:41a British imperialism, so the Brits and the Europeans are complaining
00:02:45about the Houties, I i think the hoothis are kind of an honorable
00:02:49bunch, even though they do fight wars and sandals which I don't
00:02:52understand, so we did a little research here, do
00:02:55you know how much money uh the uh Europeans
00:02:59of made so far in armed sales to the saudis, which
00:03:03again
00:03:03a goes to your point about why they do these crazy things,
00:03:07right? i'm going to read it to you, right? 17
00:03:10billion
00:03:11a france, uk made 7 billion dollars
00:03:15in arm sales to the uh saudis,
00:03:19right? germany two billion, spain 2
00:03:22billion, so to your point, of course they're calling the
00:03:26huti savages, they're they're bought and so... by the
00:03:30other side, I think that's that's
00:03:34true, and and the extraordinary thing is, but with this
00:03:37incredible imbalance of weapons, because the, I
00:03:41think those can't be all time totals, because they've been
00:03:45of individual deals, there's been bigger than the total you gave for the UK, for
00:03:49example, this must be
00:03:50in a recent period, um, well this was
00:03:54during, this was during, this was during the specific, sorry, I should have, I should have
00:03:58clarified that, thank you though for.
00:04:00for for correcting me, this was only during the first Saudi
00:04:04Yemen war that these numbers, they've gone probably above them
00:04:08since then, yes, yeah, yeah, now they've gone
00:04:11of way up past that, and the amount, the total amount of
00:04:14weapons the the alala people have ever
00:04:18possessed, it's probably 5% of
00:04:21that, um, the and yet the
00:04:25Saudis with all of that firepower, all of that modern
00:04:28equipment are unable to... defeat them and in fact continually
00:04:32lose, the the war has been over 20 year
00:04:35period.
00:04:49up security and its capital. we're talking about
00:04:51in mass of protests for the third consecutive day. initially the demonstrations
00:04:55were led by a youth activist movement called the cockroaches.
00:04:59however, now different opposition forces have joined the protests accusing
00:05:03the ruling government of
00:05:04in attempting electoral fraud, it's something firmly denied by the
00:05:08authorities, so anti India's when i dixit now explaining what is
00:05:12caused. is prolong unrest, talk about
00:05:15the protests that are happening here in India, then at the heart the
00:05:19matter lies an allegation by India's opposition parties
00:05:23that the election commission's process of revising pole roles
00:05:27is soly to benefit the Narendra Modi eled Bharatiya Janata
00:05:31Party, the BJP for winning elections after elections
00:05:35in state after state, now the Indian election
00:05:38commission's special intensive revision process, was
00:05:42started in the world's largest democracy last year and it started
00:05:46with the northern state of bihar. now the intention the process
00:05:50was to remove the names of voters that have moved away, voters that
00:05:54have registered in more than one constituencies, voters that have passed
00:05:58away or voters that are due to any reason whatsoever
00:06:02unregistered voters. so a thorough cleaning the election
00:06:05pololl roles or the list of voters. about
00:06:09130 million names have been flagged or removed. So
00:06:12far, if you think that is a large number, then think about the total
00:06:16population of India, which happens to be 1.4
00:06:20billion people. Now
00:06:21the final decision on removing any these
00:06:24names are yet to be taken. However, India's
00:06:28opposition parties alleged that in the process the
00:06:32special intensive revision, many legitimate voters name were
00:06:36also struck off from the list in order to benefit the bharatiya
00:06:40janata party or the BJP. They claim that these
00:06:43removals now mean that India's electoral process is no
00:06:47longer level playing field. The opposition parties also say that
00:06:51this process has already skewed elections that took place in the month
00:06:55of April where the BJP one three out of
00:06:59five states. Congress leader and leader of opposition Rahul Gandhi has
00:07:03gone so far as to call this vote theft and says and
00:07:07argues that any laws passed by the elected
00:07:10government through the stolen votes remained to be illegitimate because
00:07:14the process in itself was illegitimate. the
00:07:18bharatiya janta party, the BJP as well as the election commission
00:07:22have denied any wrong doings as far as the process the
00:07:26SIRR are concerned. the BJP maintains that the uh that the
00:07:30process was aimed to remove illegitimate voters from electoral
00:07:34poll roles. home minister Amit Shah also went on to say that it
00:07:37was to prevent infiltrators, which happens to be euphemism
00:07:41that is used. for illegal immigrants mainly from neighboring
00:07:45Bangladesh from voting in India's elections. The election
00:07:49panel contends that any wrongly excluded voters
00:07:53can request revision in their names and their names can be
00:07:57included back in the list again. This long simmering
00:08:00controversy around the special intensive revision became even more
00:08:04rampant after an Indian print daily the Indian
00:08:07Express released a report which said that in the three
00:08:11member election. commission where there is a chief election commissioner and two
00:08:15other election commissioners, there was significant difference
00:08:19between the election chief election commissioner and the other two election
00:08:22commissioners as far as voter matters like voter
00:08:26registrations and deletions are concerned, the election
00:08:30commission on this acknowledged the objections but said that
00:08:33the final decision that was taken by the body was
00:09:23I caught up with Derek after he signed a contract with the Russian army.
00:09:27Naturally, my first question was, what motivated a
00:09:3145 year old American with three kids to put a Russian
00:09:34military uniform? I didn't just want to come and stay and
00:09:38take five or six years to get it, I wanted to actually earn it.
00:09:43um earn our place in Russia um to show the
00:09:47country, our neighbors, our friends, the world that we're loyal
00:09:51here, we want to be here,
00:09:54and we're honored to be here. Derek's
00:09:57training days are long gone, and he's now literally
00:10:00instrumental in one the army's repair battalions fighting a
00:10:04special military operation. That was his dream and
00:10:08intention when he initially signed up to use his professional
00:10:11expertise to...
00:10:16I think a repair battalion um all the the
00:10:19cages the for drone protection all the grills i
00:10:23can i can build those with my closed um, i used to fabricate uh
00:10:27real real fancy doors, fence, very similar in
00:10:31construction, so yes, i think as a welder and
00:10:34fabricator, i could really contribute to the army, and that's where i
00:10:38hope to contribute. Derek says that he and his wife made the
00:10:41decision to emigrate to Russia together, following
00:10:45introductory trip to Moscow, they made up their minds, sold
00:10:49everything in the United States, packed up their belongings and just
00:10:53left. Derek had accepted the... fact that he might not ever see
00:10:57some of his stateside family ever again. his main concern
00:11:00are his own wife and children whom he doesn't want
00:11:04indoctrinated by the so-called liberal propaganda targeting
00:11:07children. we knew we wanted to leave America um and when we when
00:11:11we realized that that was where it was okay. where could we even go? because all
00:11:15the western countries are the same. and i saw a youtube
00:11:19video um the president Putin is Santa Claus
00:11:22and there's a little kid. praying for
00:11:26Christmas wishes and there's there's LGBT books on the counter, gay
00:11:30parents, and um, I think the kid might even be a boy,
00:11:33might even be a dress possibly, and President Putin's Santa Claus
00:11:37swoops in and uh,
00:11:39you know, boom everything changes, and then there's a there's a new picture
00:11:43with a father and mother, the books are, the gay books are gone, there's a
00:11:47football, and uh, he answered the kids prayer, and
00:11:51um, and that really resonated with me, because um, I was like,
00:11:55Okay, well they they feel the same way, Russia is like like our
00:11:58morals, they don't like gay and lesbian stuff,
00:12:02and um, so we started doing research. When we arrived at the training
00:12:05center at an undisclosed location, Derek's family were in
00:12:09Moscow, largely unaware of where their father and husband was
00:12:13and what he was up to. However, Derek's wife, Diana,
00:12:17knew about his mission and made sure her husband got to see her
00:12:21and the kids. I hope that you are being safe and you... are
00:12:25making the right choices and that you um, don't try to be
00:12:29hero,
00:12:30you know, come back alive to your family. I would tell them that I miss
00:12:33him, he better be safe for else, when he
00:12:37when he comes back, I can
00:12:38make him pancakes. Naturally, we
00:12:42offer Derek the same opportunity and he sent his family a
00:12:46video greeting as well. Hey Diana, hey girls, um, I
00:12:50love you very much, I'm very, very happy to get to send you this video, let you see my
00:12:54face. see I'm doing well, probably see, I've lost a few
00:12:57pounds, um, I miss you all more than you can imagine, and I
00:13:01can't wait to see you, um, hopefully I get vacation some
00:13:05point and I get to come home, spend a couple of weeks with you, but man,
00:13:09you're on my mind 24/7, and uh, just know
00:13:13that what I'm doing is important to me and important for our family, and I
00:13:17will do whatever it takes to be safe and to come home to
00:13:19you,
00:13:25brand new passport and a brand new life. once a proud
00:13:28resident of Arizona Derek Hoffman now carries Russian
00:13:32citizenship, decision his family sees not as a
00:13:36risk, but as confirmation that they finally found
00:13:40where they belong. for the hoffmans, the US they left behind
00:13:44felt unrecognizable, marked, as they say,
00:13:48by rising crimes, social tension and cultural
00:13:51shifts that no longer aligned with their Christian.
00:13:56so they packed up their lives, crossed an ocean and
00:13:59chose Russia as the place to start again,
00:14:03so basically the situation was getting worse and worse by the
00:14:07day, um, we were seeing lot of changes happen just in the
00:14:10economy, in the people, and realizing
00:14:14that the area was not as safe as it was when we at
00:14:18first started having kids, um, we have six in total, I
00:14:21have three adult children back home, and we have our three daughters.
00:14:25and um when I started raising my boys, it was a
00:14:29completely different atmosphere, having the ability to go to the
00:14:33grocery store and not having a guard standing right there in front the grocery store
00:14:37before you walk in because it's just theft and
00:14:40fighting and it was just not safe driving down
00:14:44the road, you need a gun on your hip because people are willing to
00:14:48have the um anger and frustration take over
00:14:52what they actually would normally do and um the
00:14:55road rage is insane and we've actually heard and seen
00:14:59people get shot at so the safety factor was a big
00:15:03thing um lgbq plus is literally put
00:15:06in all the news and all
00:15:08the um things that are
00:15:12uh tv shows and all of um
00:15:16man ads for just random people's places
00:15:19like target for instance has an ad where two men are kissing
00:15:23and i'm like it's just is so in your face and shoved down
00:15:27your throat and your kids can't go anywhere or do anything and avoid
00:15:31it, and we wanted to have a place that had the same morals and values
00:15:35as we did. we
00:15:36are strong Christians
00:15:37and we... want to have our kids raised with a good
00:15:40foundation, so unfortunately we had to leave America,
00:15:44we tried to move from Arizona to Texas to be able to get
00:15:48a stronger Christian value in our kids, um, only to
00:15:51realize that the morals and values are lot the same thing
00:15:55there, they have a parade in Dallas for the
00:15:58LGBQ, um, a pride parade where they're
00:16:02literally on the streets and just
00:16:05out in public, and it's totally... be fine and welcomed and and
00:16:09loved by many and it was just really shocking to us and we knew we had
00:16:13to leave America because it was declining more and
00:16:17more. the pivot point came from an unexpected place,
00:16:20ATV commercial. in it they saw vision of family
00:16:24and tradition that they felt no longer existed
00:16:28back home. we saw um a commercial
00:16:32with Putin and he did a uh
00:16:35christmas kind of a situation. where he was Santa Claus and gave the
00:16:39children the actual mom and dad for Christmas and all the correct
00:16:43toys and um we took that
00:16:47as a big eye opener at that point, like wait a minute, they have the same
00:16:51beliefs as we do, they also believe that uh family should be a mom and
00:16:54a dad and it shouldn't be shoved down the little boy's throats to
00:16:58want to wear a dress or want to play with dolls or any kind of
00:17:02craziness with that and knowing that the safety
00:17:06factor was a lot better of rate here
00:17:09percentage-wise, we didn't really have any other
00:17:13options. Russia was the way to go. Now living
00:17:17outside Moscow with their three young daughters, the family
00:17:21says Russia has been more welcoming than they imagined.
00:17:25So I'd say the biggest thing that we've experienced as a family
00:17:28is the big hearts and the
00:17:31welcoming from the Russian people. I've never in my entire
00:17:35life of living in America experienced such... uh amazing,
00:17:39wonderful people, and it's crazy to say,
00:17:42but I feel like this is the home that I never had, this is the
00:17:46family that I never had, being able to come here and have people
00:17:50just invite us to come over and be like, hey, I made this
00:17:54entire crazy spread uh for um,
00:17:58women's day, we were here on the fifth, women's day was on the eight, that's
00:18:01a couple of days, you never even met my family, now you're inviting us over for
00:18:05cake and champagne and... breakfast and meat and cheese
00:18:09and all these beautiful amenities, like are are are you okay?
00:18:12from offering homemade meals to driving them hours into
00:18:16moscow to file document, neighbors stepped in
00:18:20like family. it's the kind of support the huffman say
00:18:23they never experienced in the US. i'm like
00:18:27confused, like people don't do that, they're scared to have
00:18:31you come into their house because maybe you're going to take something
00:18:35or maybe you're going to destroy something and it's... just the mentality is
00:18:38completely different, um, different neighbor offered
00:18:42to take us to the grocery store when we first moved here and gave us few
00:18:46rides to get there and brought us back and different neighbor the other day
00:18:50we were talking to, um, we go on walks lot just to have more
00:18:54conversation and to build our skills um in the
00:18:57language. she offered to drive me all the way to Moscow, which from
00:19:01here is 2 hours one way, and be able to pick up
00:19:05documents from our lawyer because... is getting our girls into school
00:19:09and having specific um documents from the school
00:19:13records back in America, having them transcribed and tr and
00:19:17switched over into Russian um and then of course notarized that they're
00:19:20off um notarized their
00:19:23unticity, okay that didn't come out right
00:19:27um but the notarized copies to be able to make sure that they're actually
00:19:31real and legit and that's two hours there, nobody
00:19:34does that in America, you'll be lucky to get somebody to help you get gas
00:19:38if you run out of gas and you know these people, so
00:19:42I'd say for me it was the biggest eye opener that these
00:19:46people are real and they are authentic and they have heart of
00:19:50gold, like they truly want to help, and not because they want to see
00:19:54something in return, which is the mentality of how we were
00:19:58raised in
00:20:41turn when Derek enlisted in the Russian army,
00:20:44move his wife describes as faith
00:20:47driven. So there was definite. definitely lot of um
00:20:51questions, there was a lot of discussion
00:20:55and a ton more prayer like we wanted to make sure
00:20:59it wasn't just a oh willy nilly like oh we'll get citizenship so
00:21:03let's just do it um there was lot of prayer
00:21:07and lot of just making sure like okay well what if this happens well what
00:21:11if this happens well what about this well what about that and then it was
00:21:15like okay well mean it makes sense you're why totally i
00:21:19get it and It's like, um, I just, I don't know how I feel about
00:21:23it, let's pray, and then coming to that conclusion and making
00:21:27sure that it was a god thing that it was like, all right, lord,
00:21:30like, if you want him to join, and that's the path you want
00:21:34for our family, like everything else we've ever done in our lives, make
00:21:38it just the clear path, make it black or white, and if it is
00:21:42the path that we're supposed to take, just make sure that we know that
00:21:45that's that's the path, because we don't want to make a wrong choice.
00:21:50and go down the wrong path and god forbid lose my husband or
00:21:54have something go wrong or um i don't
00:21:57know like it just not be the path that he has for us
00:22:01um and we've always talked about that when a window closes a door will open and the
00:22:05door is always a god thing for us um as long as
00:22:09it's something that is clear to us that he
00:22:13has his hand over it um it was easier for us to go okay
00:22:17well he's going to come back safe like this is God's plan. and like he's
00:22:21he's going to be protected and this is the path we're supposed to take,
00:22:24and I mean if you've read in the Bible at all, you know that
00:22:28multiple people have gone through their sets of hardship, they said, hey,
00:22:32this is what I'm supposed to do, this is what God wants me to do, ended up a lions
00:22:36then, ended up a furnace, ended up before a giant, did they die? they
00:22:40did not, like they were protected, they had God on their side and God
00:22:44saying, hey, this is the thing I want you to do, this is where I want you to
00:22:47fight, this is the path I have for you. 'and of course in
00:22:51doing the thing that God asked them
00:22:53to do, yes it was scary, yes it was
00:22:55dangerous and of course we are fearful um of something
00:22:59happening, but of course knowing that it's a god path, it
00:23:03doesn't matter what you put in our way, like if this is the way he wanted us to
00:23:07do, this is the best best way for us to do it, she
00:23:10says serving was always a dream, but one he
00:23:14never fulfilled in the US, he had always thought that joining the
00:23:18military would be a'. um a thing that he
00:23:22would want to do, in America he was never even able to
00:23:26because the um his age
00:23:29or the ability to be fit enough or whatever the
00:23:33requirements were at that time, he never thought that he would be able to
00:23:36join, um, the the the
00:23:40military of America is the
00:23:43discipline and the you know actually making sure you're
00:23:47doing things as morals and values.
00:23:50and um, I am so grateful that he did not join there in the
00:23:54military, because I feel like it's a different set
00:23:58of thought process as the morals and the values, as it is
00:24:02here, you actually have a basis of morals and value,
00:24:06and to be able to um be with like-minded people
00:24:09who actually want to see the country succeed, and they know
00:24:13that we're fighting for a good cause, not just to fight or start a
00:24:17war or actually have issues,
00:24:21um the ability to stop the evil going on and to be able
00:24:25to make sure that the people here are safe and that there
00:24:28is um just a connection since we've been here
00:24:32to to want to be part of society like we've never wanted to be
00:24:36part of society before where people are actually on the same
00:24:40page and they actually want to see you succeed and they
00:24:44want to be able to be part of that and the sharing
00:24:48is so amazing he was around a group. of guys and he
00:24:51offered the one guy some um of his snacks
00:24:54and it was the snickers bar cuz he was he was eating snickers bars
00:24:58and he they're just like these little mini snicker bars it's not like this big old snicker bars
00:25:02and he offered him one and the guy took it and then he broke it in half to offer to someone
00:25:06else and i almost lost it i was like you don't
00:25:10see that in america you just don't someone gets a stickers but they're like thanks and they eat
00:25:14it because they're so worried about making sure they get
00:25:18theirs but here it's the opposite, like they're like, I want
00:25:21to share with somebody else, so they feel the sames I'm feeling
00:25:25as the grateful and the the enjoyment of
00:25:29whatever it is that they're getting to experience, and just being around people
00:25:33like that was just, it was no-brainer, um, seeing the
00:25:36sign saying that you and your family would get citizenship, he was like, it's
00:25:40done, I could actually go in and be able to make sure that my family has
00:25:44citizenship, I, what more could I want? Derek is
00:25:48now away with his unit, um, "the family is counting down the
00:25:52days until he returns. when we asked the girls about their
00:25:55father, the room felt quiet. they told us life
00:25:59feels different without him and they..."
00:26:04Of course I miss him um having him here on regular basis, making all the
00:26:08funny jokes that he usually makes and making things light-hearted and
00:26:12laughing about things and um him being
00:26:16able to lay the hammer and and be that rock and be able to make
00:26:19sure that you know things are going the way they're supposed to go
00:26:23and things are getting done and lists are made so that we make sure to stay
00:26:27on track I
00:26:28mean it is um it is hard
00:26:31not having. that not having your significant other to be able to
00:26:35help guide you and help be with you and um hold you at night to
00:26:39be able to say hey you know everything's going to be okay like
00:26:43it is difficult for sure and i 100% miss him
00:26:47i was going i knew this was going to happen soon cuz we
00:26:50played that he would make it and but when i thought he was going to
00:26:54move mean going to to the military
00:26:58i felt very sad and tried tried
00:27:02making every moment I can, exciting and not bad
00:27:05ones. pretty sad because I really love him and I don't want him to
00:27:09go. He is hero, he's a hero to our family and he is hero
00:27:13to um pretty much every Russian person
00:27:17we've talked to, because there are so many people that are here in Russia that
00:27:21are true Russians that were born Russians that would not be
00:27:25courageous enough to stand up and say, "I'm going to fight, I'm going
00:27:29to fight for the country, I'm going to fight for what's right." going to
00:27:32make sure that as a people succeed,
00:27:36because we already feel like we are Russian, so to be able
00:27:40to be on this side of things and to be able to
00:27:43fight for what we truly believe in, is an
00:27:47amazing opportunity. I'd say I really miss him, I would
00:27:51say I miss you and I wish you would heal, and I would
00:27:54say when he when he comes back I can make him
00:27:57pancakes, I would tell him that I miss
00:27:59him, he better be safe or...
00:28:03The family is now taking steps toward full citizenship. The
00:28:07children have joined a private school where each day brings new
00:28:11lessons, faces and small discoveries. For the
00:28:14halfmans, Russia is more than a destination. It's
00:28:18the start of something new. Each day carries its own
00:28:22challenges and chances and together they're shaping
00:28:26life that already
00:28:59Belarus, January 1944.
00:30:32for minister dismisses Vladimir Zelenskire calls as
00:30:36a ploy to regroup Ukraine's forces. That's after Kiev
00:30:40demanded the guns fall silent for 60 days to allow
00:30:44for elections. The more we help Ukraine, the
00:30:47sooner the war will be over. And Brussels adopts yet another
00:30:51package of anti-Russian sanctions with the EU hoping its
00:30:5422nd round of restrictions will do what the previous 21 have
00:30:58failed to do and that's
