00:01:11on the ground after the approval of this and education. The authority also explained that the visit aims to get acquainted with the Syrian

00:01:32its initial construction by a number The Central Bank of Syria
00:01:36announced the implementation of the first
00:01:39of others in dealing with documentary credit in 14 years to finance a deal to supply
00:01:42oil products from Saudi Aramco to the Syrian
00:01:49of expansion during Our relations are good with Oil Company. The bank explained that the implementation of the credit was done in coordination with a major
00:01:51American bank in order to secure the necessary
00:01:55banking tool to finance the deal and settle
00:01:58related commercial operations. It indicated that the step
00:02:02aims to support the continuity of oil supplies and meet the needs
00:02:05of the local market and enhance the management of strategic
00:02:09purchases through official banking channels. In turn,
00:02:13the Syrian Oil Company stated that the central bank's measure
00:02:17is an important development in the mechanisms of financing oil supplies
00:02:20and facilitating commercial
00:02:22witnessed a state of transactions.
00:02:28And with us is Amer Al-Asem, Syria TV correspondent, live from
00:02:32Damascus. Welcome, Amer. Please give us more details regarding
00:02:35what the Central Bank of Syria announced about a documentary
00:02:38credit
00:02:41after decades of its presence for the supply deal related to oil products.
00:02:44Tell us
00:02:48the details. Yes, the Central Bank of Syria
00:02:51announced the implementation of the
00:02:53on the state treasury, to the prices circulating in first documentary credit in favor of the
00:02:56Syrian Oil Company in coordination with a major
00:03:00Turkish bank to finance
00:03:03the supply of an oil products deal from Saudi
00:03:07Aramco. This step
00:03:11comes 14
00:03:14buildings in Daraa, as it years after the implementation of the last documentary credit.
00:03:18Now, this has returned to work,
00:03:21meaning the implementation
00:03:23out his coup with the support of that no changes have of the documentary credit. And the
00:03:27bank also indicated in the statement it issued
00:03:30that it will continue to coordinate with the Syrian Oil
00:03:34of the official financial Company to develop the
00:03:38financial and documentary arrangements necessary
00:03:42of the story. To this to ensure
00:03:45the echoes of the 1948 Flights start from the smooth implementation of future to alleviate the burdens on deals and to ensure the maintenance of oil supplies
00:03:48to the Syrian market.
00:03:52secret negotiations with This step,
00:03:52is more comprehensive in other words, means that of the Umari Mosque. Syria, throughout the 14
00:03:55years, was able to import
00:04:00the burden on and retrieve
00:04:04but the winds blow contrary oil derivatives through
00:04:04a large number of international partners. But today, it has officially
00:04:08returned with this step to the global banking
00:04:12system, and this is another achievement added to the first
00:04:15achievement related to Saudi Aramco.
00:04:19Thank you very much, Amer Al-Aasi, Syria TV correspondent.
00:04:22You were with us from Damascus. Thank you very much.
00:04:26I welcome Dr. Abdel Moneim
00:04:28during his meeting with a delegation of Al-Halabi, academic and economic expert, with us live from Gaziantep. Welcome,
00:04:32Dr. Abdel Moneim. We will discuss this
00:04:35execution sparked anger in step from an economic perspective. How
00:04:39can we interpret this step? The first
00:04:42documentary credit in
00:04:46instead of 14 years to finance an oil products supply deal. This step today, what is its economic
00:04:49significance?
00:04:53Of course, it is a result of the path that began
00:04:56more than a year ago,
00:04:59and Syria implemented many measures
00:05:03regarding the financial situation and also regarding
00:05:06the banking situation.
00:05:09Today, when a documentary credit
00:05:12is opened by the Central Bank of Syria in favor of a public
00:05:16entity with a very large
00:05:19contract with Aramco to import oil,
00:05:22with a guarantee from one of the banks
00:05:26working for Aramco, which is an American bank,
00:05:29this is certainly
00:05:32not a simple piece of news
00:05:36contract. We are suffering from the import
00:05:40of oil derivatives at high prices,
00:05:42and there were problems you covered in the previous
00:05:45report that are still present and may continue in the foreseeable future.
00:05:49So, the sensitivity of the contract
00:05:52and also the intervention by
00:05:55Aramco and the American bank to guarantee
00:05:59the implementation of this contract will certainly
00:06:03have a direct impact, even if it
00:06:06is not very quick, as we
00:06:10might imagine. Hmm. Well, can this
00:06:13step be considered an indicator that
00:06:17the sanctions
00:06:19have started to disappear and that this process is being translated
00:06:24credit that was mentioned and announced by the
00:06:28bank, or how can it be interpreted at this
00:06:31stage? The sanctions have completely disappeared,
00:06:34but on the ground, actually,
00:06:38regarding, let's say, the implementation,
00:06:41the issue is certainly related to the readiness
00:06:45of the banking sector in Syria and the Central Bank of Syria
00:06:48and the confidence
00:06:52the Syrian economy in general. And this confidence exists under
00:06:55a good political cover.
00:06:59the Americans and with the Saudis, so this is an important
00:07:02cover. The issue, in every sense of the
00:07:05word, is the extent of the readiness of the Syrian
00:07:08economy, the Syrian banking sector, the Central Bank of Syria, to
00:07:13implement the agreements that can be concluded. And this
00:07:16seems to be within the framework of reliability,
00:07:20and it is possible to move forward, God willing. Thank you very much, Dr.
00:07:24Abdul Moneim Al-Halabi, academic and economic expert. You were with us from
00:07:28Gaziantep. Welcome.

00:07:38with the old issue of the Syrian pound, following
00:07:41rumors about the suspension of authorized exchange companies by the Central

00:07:55reached 144
00:07:58pounds per US dollar, compared
00:08:00to 148 pounds for buying, according
00:08:05the markets. These developments also raised concerns
00:08:09among citizens and traders about the impact of rumors on daily
00:08:12transactions and purchasing power.
00:08:14A member
00:08:19of the Executive Office for the Finance Sector in the Al-Hasakah
00:08:22Governorate Council, Khalid Ibrahim, denied
00:08:25the accuracy of circulated information regarding Tuesday being the final
00:08:29deadline for exchanging old Syrian currency or suspending
00:08:32its use. Ibrahim confirmed
00:08:35been issued to the adopted procedures for dealing with old
00:08:39currency and withdrawing it from circulation,
00:08:42clarifying that any amendments remain linked to decisions
00:08:47authorities at the national level. He also indicated
00:08:51that the circulated rumors caused a state of confusion
00:08:54among citizens and economic actors and reflected
00:08:58on the exchange rate of the old currency, calling
00:09:01for not being misled by unconfirmed
00:09:04information, which should be relied on
00:09:07exclusively from official sources.
00:09:27President Ahmed Al-Sharaa affirmed that Syria will largely
00:09:31rely on Syrian competencies who have gained experience abroad
00:09:34and succeeded abroad and tried to transfer
00:09:38the experience of success to the country,
00:09:41Syrian experts in the technology and innovation
00:09:44sector. President Al-Sharaa said that Syria has
00:09:48many opportunities due to its important geographical location and the lack
00:09:52of digital infrastructure, which allows it to benefit from the latest
00:09:56global advancements
00:09:58relying on an old infrastructure and replacing
00:10:02it at great cost. He also pointed out
00:10:05that rebuilding from scratch represents an important opportunity
00:10:09for Syria. He pointed out that the digital infrastructure
00:10:12is linked to government institutions and reconstruction projects, including
00:10:15housing reconstruction, explaining that digital life
00:10:19is involved in various
00:10:20aspects of life.
00:10:28The General Organization for Social Insurance announced
00:10:31the launch of two new services for notifications via
00:10:35short text messages as part of digital
00:10:38for clients. The organization clarified that the first
00:10:42service targets employers
00:10:44who are in default of paying their
00:10:47dues for a period of three months
00:10:50to alert them to the necessity of contacting the organization and settling
00:10:53their financial obligations. The second
00:10:57service covers self-employed subscribers subject
00:11:00to Ministerial Decision No. 778 of
00:11:042015 who are in default
00:11:08of payment for six months. It affirmed
00:11:11that the step aims to improve the quality of services and save time
00:11:16clients.
00:11:22A seminar entitled "Syria Without Drugs"
00:11:26was held at the Faculty of Pharmacy at Aleppo University, coinciding with
00:11:29World Mental Health Day. It discussed the dangers
00:11:33of drugs and their health, psychological, and social
00:11:36effects, and the importance of awareness and prevention
00:11:39of addiction and strengthening treatment and rehabilitation
00:11:42efforts. The importance of linking the Syria
00:11:45Without Drugs campaign with World Mental
00:11:48Health Day is that drugs
00:11:51rob people of their will and threaten
00:11:54their health. Today, we started a campaign within
00:11:58the framework of the national campaign to combat drugs, Syria Without
00:12:02Drugs. It began with a seminar at the Faculty of Pharmacy
00:12:05at Aleppo University, where we discussed the achievements of the Drug
00:12:09Control Branch and the services provided by the Directorate
00:12:13of Health, such as Ibn Khaldun Hospital. Our message
00:12:16is an awareness message, and we send
00:12:19reassurance messages to those affected that if
00:12:22you go to
00:12:28the specialized places, this will help you to reduce or remove legal accountability,
00:12:31and we will help you return to your
00:12:34normal life through the various health centers.
00:12:37These
00:12:39are heroes of the fight against drug administration. The Directorate of
00:12:43Antiquities and Museums announced that the results of the inspection
00:12:46of Al-Zahrawi Palace, the archaeological Al-Zahrawi Palace, excuse me, in
00:12:50Homs, showed that the works carried
00:12:53out or have not yet recorded any significant changes in the planning
00:12:57or historical architectural fabric of the palace.
00:13:00The Directorate also considered that the works carried out
00:13:03fall within maintenance and rehabilitation works
00:13:06and improving basic services, adding
00:13:09that the funding allocated for restoration
00:13:12was provided as a donation from the investing entity
00:13:15without any burden
00:13:18emphasizing its keenness on Syrian architectural heritage
00:13:21in accordance with adopted scientific and technical standards.
00:13:29The General Authority for Civil Aviation and Air Transport announced
00:13:33the start of regular bus services between Baramkeh
00:13:36garages and Damascus International Airport to facilitate
00:13:39passengers' access to the airport. The authority
00:13:42indicated that the service includes providing transportation in the reverse
00:13:46direction, clarifying that the step aims to develop the services
00:13:50provided to passengers.
00:13:53The Civil Aviation Authority announced the start of domestic
00:13:56bus services from Damascus Airport to Baramkeh and from
00:14:00Baramkeh to Damascus Airport, in a move
00:14:05passengers.
00:14:086 AM until 11 AM
00:14:12and from 12 PM until 4 PM, and also at night
00:14:15there are flights starting from 10 PM
00:14:19until 4 AM.
00:14:21This step aims to alleviate
00:14:25passengers because these buses accommodate
00:14:29people and their cost is low compared
00:14:33to taxis. And in parallel applications
00:14:37to taxis, this step has just begun.
00:14:40We do not know the exact pricing because the buses
00:14:44that started operating have started on a reduced
00:14:47and low basis. A bus comes to here and goes to Damascus Airport, and from Damascus
00:14:51Airport a bus comes to here. Therefore, there is no
00:14:55center for departure at this moment.
00:14:59It is expected that the old center will be activated, or it is also
00:15:02expected that the Civil Aviation Authority will create
00:15:06a new departure center in this area allocated
00:15:09for transport within Damascus. Amer Aasi, Syria TV.
00:15:13Baramkeh is facing difficulties in the leather
00:15:16footwear industry in Aleppo, due to increasing production
00:15:20costs and competition from imported footwear,
00:15:23which poses challenges for artisans
00:15:25to continue their profession and preserve their
00:15:29workshops.
00:15:33Footwear manufacturing workshops in Aleppo are witnessing
00:15:36a sharp decline in a profession that the city has been known
00:15:40for decades, and has employed hundreds of workshops
00:15:43and thousands of artisans. Rising production costs, along with
00:15:46competition from imported products, pose
00:15:50challenges to this industry that threaten
00:15:53its survival. The difficulties we are facing are the same, nothing
00:15:56has changed. Electricity, high electricity prices,
00:16:00and on top of that, we are adding amps, and the workforce
00:16:03is scarce because it is not enough for the workers, their wages are low.
00:16:07And if we raise wages, it's not enough for us, meaning
00:16:11goods are expensive, everything is expensive. You pay the
00:16:14wages of the workers, not once did I tell him that the worker's
00:16:18wage is not enough for him, meaning
00:16:21workshop owners link rising local prices
00:16:25to increased costs of leather and raw
00:16:27materials, as well as worker wages and electricity
00:16:31bills, amidst long
00:16:34generators. In contrast, markets are flooded with
00:16:38imported shoes from China and Turkey at lower
00:16:42prices, leading to a decline in demand for local
00:16:45products despite their quality. I came after
00:16:49the liberation, I said my country is from another country.
00:16:52I brought my money, I brought something. We came down here to open
00:16:55the business, and he told me from that period until now, I'm losing
00:16:58the amount I brought will be finished, but the problem
00:17:02is that the worker doesn't agree, you bring expensive
00:17:05goods, and the piece goes down
00:17:15at the merchant's. So, this is why the theater is going backwards. Traders
00:17:19believe that the demand for imported shoes is not
00:17:22only related to price, but also
00:17:26to their ability to achieve better profit margins,
00:17:29in addition to their diversity and availability at competitive
00:17:32prices that meet consumer desires. Regarding
00:17:36foreign or national goods, people,
00:17:39according to their purchasing power, are asking, but most
00:17:43of them are asking for Chinese goods, frankly, because of their
00:17:46newness and clean work. National
00:17:50goods are a bit poor, regarding shoes,
00:17:53due to the lack of raw materials, machines,
00:17:57and improving the quality of work in factories
00:18:01and workshops. With the continuation of these challenges,
00:18:04a number of artisans were forced to close their workshops
00:18:08or leave the profession permanently, while the younger generation
00:18:12refrains from learning it, making one of Aleppo's
00:18:15oldest crafts face the risk of decline
00:18:19in local markets and its competition with foreign
00:18:23products.
00:18:27And now, dear viewers, we have reached the end of this first hour of the news tour.

00:21:28Mohsen
00:21:29al-Barazi.
00:21:32Mohsen al-Barazi, professor of international law
00:21:36at Damascus University, Arab nationalist
00:21:39and the first prime minister to be killed by a military
00:21:43coup. Mohsen al-Barazi was born in
00:21:47the city of Hama in 1909.
00:21:51He belonged to the well-known al-Barazi family in Hama,
00:21:54where the family owned vast
00:21:58land, and his father was a representative for Homs
00:22:01and Hama in the Ottoman Parliament.
00:22:05Al-Barazi studied law in France and obtained
00:22:09a degree in international law from the University of Lyon in
00:22:121930,
00:22:15after which he returned to Damascus to work as a professor at the Faculty
00:22:18of Law. Al-Barazi had an Arab
00:22:22nationalist orientation since his studies in Paris, and this was strengthened
00:22:26during his presence in Syria. He, along with others, founded
00:22:30the League of National Action in 1933.
00:22:43He began his official career in 1941,
00:22:461941.
00:22:50when he became Minister of Education. In
00:22:521943,
00:22:56Shukri al-Quwatli appointed him as his assistant, as
00:23:00al-Barazi was an expert in international affairs, calm
00:23:03and composed. During his work with al-Quwatli,
00:23:06something happened that completely changed his life's
00:23:10trajectory. In
00:23:111949,
00:23:14General Husni al-Za'im carried out the first
00:23:17military coup in the history of the Republic.
00:23:21Al-Za'im overthrew all those close to al-Quwatli
00:23:24except for one person: Mohsen
00:23:27al-Barazi.
00:23:32Al-Za'im appointed Mohsen al-Barazi as Prime Minister
00:23:35and asked him to gain Arab support for the military
00:23:39coup. And this is what al-Barazi did. While
00:23:43al-Barazi's motives for supporting al-Za'im
00:23:46and his coup against his friend al-Quwatli remain unknown,
00:23:49the political climate surrounding Syria may reveal the secrets
00:23:53of the matter.
00:24:01Syria was caught between two warring Arab
00:24:03camps: the Iraqi-Jordanian
00:24:06Hashemite on one side and the Saudi-Egyptian on the other.
00:24:10Al-Za'im carried
00:24:13al-Barazi and moved Syria towards the Saudi-Egyptian
00:24:17camp, where the man
00:24:20sought to sign an agreement to extend the Trans-Arabian
00:24:24Pipeline, a project that Saudi Arabia sought
00:24:28to transport oil to the Mediterranean through
00:24:31Syria. From another perspective,
00:24:35war were still reverberating. So,
00:24:38al-Za'im asked al-Barazi to hold
00:24:42the Israelis to reach an acceptable
00:24:45peace agreement, and the man was indeed able to reach
00:24:49an advanced stage of negotiations,
00:24:54to what ships desire. In August
00:24:581949,
00:25:01Sami al-Hinnawi and officers affiliated with the Syrian
00:25:05Social Nationalist Party carried out a military coup against al-Za'im
00:25:09and al-Barazi.
00:25:13Soldiers arrested Mohsen al-Barazi and transported him
00:25:16to an isolated area near Mezzeh prison and executed
00:25:20him in the field with President al-Za'im. Al-Barazi's
00:25:25political circles, especially since he was a professional
00:25:29jurist. Whatever his views, he
00:25:32left a good impression in the field of international law,
00:25:36as a professor at Damascus University, and an expert
00:25:39for various Syrian
00:25:42governments.

00:26:55The spark of demonstrations in Syria
00:26:59started from it, and it is considered one of the oldest
00:27:03historical mosques. The Umari Mosque in
00:27:06Daraa is an archaeological icon and a religious
00:27:10and revolutionary symbol in Hauran, southern
00:27:13Syria. The Umari Mosque is considered one of
00:27:16the oldest first Islamic mosques. It is located in the center
00:27:19of Daraa al-Balad, and its construction dates back to Caliph Omar
00:27:23ibn al-Khattab, after whom the mosque is named. He
00:27:26ordered its construction when he visited the city in
00:27:29the year 14 AH. And overseen
00:27:35of companions, including Abu Ubaidah ibn al-Jarrah
00:27:38and Muadh ibn Jabal. The mosque witnessed multiple
00:27:42architectural stages. Its
00:27:44beginnings date back to the Rashidun era, and the mosque
00:27:48witnessed the second stage
00:27:51the Umayyad era. The third
00:27:54and final stage was in the year
00:27:57651
00:27:59AH, during the Ayyubid era.
00:28:03The mosque is dominated by pre-Islamic architecture
00:28:06due to its antiquity, as it was built on
00:28:09the ruins of a pagan temple in the style
00:28:12of mosques that were built during the era of the Rashidun
00:28:15Caliphs. The Umari Mosque maintained
00:28:19its old form until modern renovation
00:28:23operations changed some of its old features.
00:28:26However, these renovations
00:28:30and modifications did not affect its minaret
00:28:33and its southern facade. The
00:28:36mosque, in its modern plan, became a miniature
00:28:39replica of the Umayyad Mosque
00:28:42in Damascus, in terms of its beautiful
00:28:46arcades, and a spacious area
00:28:49for prayer, and an open courtyard,
00:28:53and a towering minaret.
00:28:56The mosque has three main gates, the largest
00:29:00of which is the northern gate, opening to the internal
00:29:03arcades of the mosque. The western and eastern
00:29:07gates open
00:29:10outwards. The mosque's roof
00:29:13resembles the old
00:29:17rests on stone arches, followed
00:29:20in reverse by prominent supports from
00:29:23each side, and then more prominent
00:29:26beams to connect the supports and cover
00:29:30the gaps.
00:29:33The mosque is considered a symbol of the Syrian revolution,
00:29:37as the first demonstrations in 2011
00:29:40started from it,
00:29:43and Sheikh Ahmed Al-Siyasneh called for demonstrations
00:29:47against the overthrown Assad regime from the pulpit
00:29:51On April 13, 2013,
00:29:55the mosque was subjected to an attack by the overthrown Syrian
00:29:58regime, which led to the collapse of its minaret,
00:30:03which was later rebuilt
00:30:06and the rest of the mosque's parts
00:30:09were maintained to remain an archaeological
00:30:13landmark and a revolutionary symbol
00:30:16throughout history.
