00:00:16Good evening, welcome to this broadcast of Telesur
00:00:19News. Let's now review the
00:00:21headlines.
00:00:24Social movements worldwide took to the streets to denounce Israel's escalating
00:00:27genocidal acts against the Palestinian
00:00:31raised their voices in solidarity with people.
00:00:37Social movements in Paraguay marched to demand justice for
00:00:41the murder of Daisy Paola Jiménez
00:00:43collectives marched in Segovia, a 22-year-old woman, victim of femicide in broad daylight
00:00:47on a public street.
00:00:53Climate change is causing storms and floods in countries of the
00:00:57American and Asian continents.
00:01:11I'm Andreas Romero, I'll be with you, and
00:01:13fairs are like we're going to break down our headlines. Social,
00:01:16student, and political organizations in the United States mobilized in New
00:01:19York to denounce the genocide against the Palestinian people and demand the
00:01:23end of the occupation. Protesters gathered with
00:01:27Palestinian flags and marched.
00:01:33The protests also targeted New York Mayor Soram Mamdani, who
00:01:37pro-Palestinian protesters
00:01:40confronted during a vigil in Union Square,
00:01:44accusing him of being a traitor and complicit in the genocide
00:01:47due to his stance, considered lukewarm, regarding the Israeli
00:01:51aggression. The mobilizations are part of a
00:01:54global day of solidarity with Palestine that spanned
00:01:57cities around the world, from São Paulo to London
00:02:01and Cairo, demanding the end of the war and respect for
00:02:05international law.
00:02:14Social organizations marched throughout Mexico City
00:02:18as part of the global day of action for Palestine. The
00:02:21mobilization started from the center of the capital and advanced along the
00:02:26south-southwest of main avenues until reaching an emblematic square in the city.
00:02:30The march was called by the Global Alliance for Palestine and the
00:02:34General Coordination for Palestine. It also
00:02:37brought together social organizations, unions, student
00:02:40collectives, as well as members of the Palestinian
00:02:44community in Mexico. It is worth
00:02:47this, authorities are monitoring noting that it was a day of international solidarity that demanded
00:02:49an end to the Zionist occupation and respect for the rights of the
00:02:53Palestinian people.
00:03:00for all the entire families that have been
00:03:03erased from the map, but not from our
00:03:07hearts or from our collective
00:03:10memory. For us, it will
00:03:14never be normal that more than 74
00:03:18Palestinians have been murdered,
00:03:22nor that more than 2,000 children have
00:03:25been subjected to the propaganda of
00:03:28hatred. The immediate and
00:03:32unconditional end of the genocide in Gaza
00:03:35and the entry of humanitarian aid
00:03:39without restrictions, the fulfillment of the arrest warrants
00:03:43of the International Criminal Court and
00:03:46the prosecution of all those
00:03:48of the self-proclaimed Cockroach responsible for war crimes, crimes against humanity
00:03:52and genocide. The figures are a
00:03:56memorial of horror.
00:04:00Palestinians killed and more than 175,000
00:04:03injured since October
00:04:052023.
00:04:09Added to this is the total collapse of the health
00:04:12system, the massive destruction of schools and
00:04:15UNRWA facilities and the use of famine as a
00:04:19Cópolis, the cooperative Ateneo of method of warfare.
00:04:22mainly to be able to use a space in Citizens marched along the Santiago de Chile promenade in
00:04:25solidarity with Palestine, demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza
00:04:29and the cessation of the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory. The
00:04:32march passed without incidents or repression from Carabineros,
00:04:36in contrast to other mobilizations in the country that have been
00:04:40repressed by the government of José Antonio Katz. The
00:04:43demonstrators carried Palestinian flags and chanted
00:04:46slogans against Israeli aggression and the complicity of
00:04:50Western powers, reaffirming Chile's commitment to
00:04:54the Palestinian cause. It is important to note that Chile is home to
00:04:58Given the recent rainfall in the largest Palestinian population outside of West Asia, with
00:05:02approximately 800 demonstrators who joined
00:05:05the global day of
00:05:07protest.
00:05:16The Ecuadorian police repressed citizens who mobilized through
00:05:20the main streets of Quito in protest against President
00:05:24Daniel Novoa and in solidarity with Palestine.
00:05:27Amidst posters and slogans against President Daniel Novoa and his
00:05:30administration, the demonstrators advanced,
00:05:34defying the police deployment in the area. With the Palestinian flag
00:05:38leading the massive march, the demonstrators
00:05:43the Palestinian people and condemned the genocide that Israel
00:05:46is perpetrating in Gaza. The protest
00:05:49combined the rejection of the Ecuadorian government's austerity and repression
00:05:53policies with the Palestinian cause, in a day that
00:05:57reflects the growing social unrest that the
00:06:00country is experiencing.
00:06:05because it doesn't seem fair to me what people are experiencing in hospitals with dialysis, it doesn't seem
00:06:09fair to me what the country is experiencing in insecurity and... the world
00:06:12thinks everything is fine, but it's not like that, uh, from our side, as we said,
00:06:16they tried to make me fall with the police, they were
00:06:19pushing us, we moved to one side, we told them to pass, we don't want any problems
00:06:23with you, but they were telling us to move forward, just like other girls who were there, they
00:06:26were intimidating them, they were scaring them, they hit her, you
00:06:30also tell us they hit you, so yes, it's not their way of acting
00:06:33because we are moving to one side, we are letting them pass and they are going against us
00:06:37seeing that we are alone. Since 2023,
00:06:40Israel has carried out more than 281,000
00:06:44incursions into occupied West Bank and Jerusalem since the beginning of the
00:06:47genocide against Palestine. The Palestinian
00:06:50Information Center highlighted in a report that the incursions have
00:06:54caused the deaths of at least 1,251
00:06:57Palestinians, as well as 11,345
00:07:01injured and at least
00:07:0232,463
00:07:05Palestinians detained. The figures show around
00:07:0930,000 attacks on Palestinian homes and more
00:07:12than 45,000 assaults, including cases of
00:07:16beatings, attacks on property and demolitions. The
00:07:19data released reveals the magnitude of the human
00:07:23and material losses resulting from the crimes perpetrated by
00:07:26Israel in the West Bank and East
00:07:29Jerusalem.
00:07:36The Israeli military aggression in Palestinian territory has
00:07:39unleashed an unprecedented catastrophe in the educational
00:07:42sphere, destroying not only the country's infrastructure,
00:07:46but also the future of an entire generation.
00:07:48Let's see:
00:07:51the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli occupying regime
00:07:55has caused a devastating and irreparable human cost
00:07:58to the Palestinian education system,
00:08:01claiming the lives of more than 20,000 students and
00:08:04deliberately destroying more than 350
00:08:08schools and institutions. This systematic
00:08:11aggression not only reduces classrooms to rubble,
00:08:14but also condemns the future of Palestinian
00:08:17youth. Today, more than
00:08:2080% of surviving students suffer severe
00:08:23mental health consequences, with overwhelming levels of
00:08:27post-traumatic stress and 25% with
00:08:31anxiety crises, amidst a humanitarian crisis
00:08:34caused by Zionist impunity.
00:08:38In Barcelona, dozens of projects promoted by
00:08:41migrants took to the streets to show another way
00:08:45of doing solidarity, community, and anti-racist
00:08:47economy. It is the solidarity, migrant, and diverse economy fair,
00:08:51which this year sends a clear message: regularization
00:08:55is not enough, power must be
00:08:58redistributed. Let's see the details with our
00:09:01correspondent Andrés
00:09:03Flores.
00:09:08It is the seventh edition of the solidarity, migrant and diverse
00:09:12economy fair, which this Saturday brought together around a hundred
00:09:15projects led by migrant and racialized people in the Poblesec
00:09:19neighborhood in Barcelona, gastronomy, crafts,
00:09:23textiles, education, everything promoted by social
00:09:26economy, organized by the Migrations Circle of
00:09:31the city. The Fair was born
00:09:35the city, to be able to be visible and also
00:09:38to articulate ourselves and get to know each other in the space, to know what we are doing.
00:09:42how we can create synergies, there are around 100
00:09:46projects that are here exhibiting their services and
00:09:49products, and very diverse, and all promoted by migrant
00:09:52people, until a few years ago, when there was no
00:09:56fair, it was very difficult for migrant
00:09:59projects, migrant entities of social and
00:10:02solidarity economy of different
00:10:06eh areas, educational and social, to
00:10:09be present in the Catalan space, so to speak,
00:10:13because it has not been an easy space, it is not an easy space,
00:10:16so this space is for us a very
00:10:20groundbreaking, very, very
00:10:23vindicating space for us. because we are here
00:10:27and we want to be part of all this and we are part
00:10:31of it, so we also demand this space
00:10:34as a right to live, to work, to demand,
00:10:38and also to be seen in this territory. This year's theme
00:10:42marks a turning point, after the extraordinary regularization of thousands
00:10:45of migrants, the collectives say that getting papers is
00:10:49only the first step. Regularization is a
00:10:52necessity, it is a necessity, one for the country
00:10:55itself, because we start to have more people contributing, so that
00:10:58we start to have companies that do not abuse undocumented people,
00:11:02so that they start to have truly dignified pensions for
00:11:05the people who are here, the minimum is that they give
00:11:08documents to everyone and that everyone has the same level of
00:11:12equality to be able to fight for housing, because they can fight
00:11:16to have a dignified life in this country. Behind
00:11:20each stall there is a unique way of organizing, horizontal,
00:11:24communal, and with roots in the Latin American experience,
00:11:27we organized in a very grassroots way, it started,
00:11:31let's say, in its beginnings, everything was very grassroots, taking the
00:11:35spirit of what
00:11:38in Latin America, so to speak. A short
00:11:41time ago, a few years, not as long as we would have
00:11:44liked, we formed ourselves as a cultural
00:11:47association, thanks also to the help that, in this case,
00:11:51people who are part of Migres gave us to form ourselves as an association, and
00:11:55it works, we function horizontally among food stalls,
00:11:58handicrafts and activism, the fair claims that migrant
00:12:01economy, far from being a problem, is a living part of the
00:12:05city, an economy made in solidarity and together.
00:12:09Andrés Flores, Telesur,

00:12:15At least 12 people died and more than 300 people
00:12:18were injured after a retaliatory attack by the resistance movement
00:12:21against the international airport.
00:12:27in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. Some of those affected were
00:12:30transferred to hospitals due to the emergency. Authorities
00:12:34temporarily suspended airport operations to
00:12:37assess the damage. The incident caused cancellations
00:12:41and delays of hundreds of flights, as well as alerts from several
00:12:44embassies to avoid the terminal. The attack occurs
00:12:48amidst escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and
00:12:51the Yemeni government, led by the resistance movement.
00:12:55Santiago, who have advanced military responses against Riyadh's
00:12:59forces as part of their aggressions against the sovereignty of
00:13:02Yemeni territory.
00:13:14Saudi Arabia attacked Sana'a airport this Saturday,
00:13:18while Yemeni armed forces reinforced their
00:13:21control in the Taiz region. Saudi forces
00:13:25launched four attacks against the capital's airport, as
00:13:29part of the escalation of aggression that intensified last
00:13:32week between the parties. Yemeni media reported that at
00:13:36least three civilians were injured after six
00:13:40Saudi aerial bombardments were reported in the Abs
00:13:43district. For its part, Yemen reported control of
00:13:47the Taiz region to prevent any occupation by
00:13:50enemy troops.
00:14:05In India, more than 5,000 people were detained during protests
00:14:08organized in New Delhi by the social movement
00:14:13Party. The protesters demand the
00:14:17resignation of the head of the Election Commission of India and the
00:14:20suspension of the review of the electoral rolls, which they
00:14:23claim have eliminated more than 130 million voter
00:14:27names, disproportionately affecting
00:14:31minorities. In response to the protests, 45 subway
00:14:34stations in the capital were temporarily closed and the
00:14:38mobilizations extended to Mumbai. The party's
00:14:41name comes from a comment by the Chief Justice of the Supreme
00:14:45Court of India, who referred to unemployed
00:14:48youth as cockroaches during an
00:14:50hearing in May of this year, the month in which it was
00:14:54also formed. The Cockroach People's Party also
00:14:58calls for educational reforms and the review of the government's
00:15:01decision to annul the results of the National Medical
00:15:05Examination.
00:16:12Thank you for staying with us. We continue with more Telesur news from
00:16:16Paraguay, where various civic organizations and women's
00:16:21the Plaza de la Democracia located in the capital to
00:16:24demand justice for the femicide of Daisy Paola
00:16:27Jiménez Segovia, with slogans like "Justice for
00:16:31Daisy" and "We mobilize so they don't kill
00:16:34us." The organizers mobilized to raise awareness about
00:16:38gender violence in the country and the incompetence of the
00:16:40authorities when it comes to heeding complaints and protecting
00:16:44those affected. According to information from the authorities, the
00:16:4822-year-old woman was murdered in plain sight
00:16:51while on her way to work. It should be noted that
00:16:55the main suspect, her ex-partner,
00:16:58surrendered to the competent authorities and is awaiting
00:17:02the due process of law. This femicide stood out due to the
00:17:06victim's previous complaints, to which she
00:17:08received no response from the authorities despite
00:17:12the situation she was
00:17:14in.
00:17:22In El Salvador, more than 600 volunteers and environmentalists
00:17:26joined this Saturday in a day of cleaning and
00:17:29sanitation in the communities bordering the Grande
00:17:33River in the east of that country which remains flooded
00:17:36with tons of garbage. Our correspondent
00:17:40Roberto Hugo Presa accompanied the brigades and brings us the
00:17:43details:
00:17:46Hundreds of men and women, assisted by tools and cleaning
00:17:50and fumigation equipment, saturated the streets of the communities
00:17:53adjacent to the Grande River of San Miguel.
00:17:57The National Environmental Coordinator called on various sectors
00:18:00to join forces and alleviate to some extent the
00:18:04difficult situation faced by the residents. We came a few
00:18:08days ago, where we could see the
00:18:11contamination that the Grande River has dragged in different
00:18:15places, the humidity it has generated everywhere,
00:18:18affecting their crops, their livestock,
00:18:21the regular transit they have
00:18:25through these sectors for their very subsistence.
00:18:28The day's work consists of practically eliminating
00:18:31all these breeding grounds for larvae that
00:18:35we have, which are the residues
00:18:38that have been dragged, we have plastic,
00:18:41bottles.
00:18:43The volunteer brigades entered the muddy paths, collecting
00:18:47waste and fumigating flooded homes and plots, a
00:18:51day that also seeks to create awareness among citizens in the management of
00:18:55waste. We should all have a little
00:18:58bit of conscience, just by not throwing a bottle on the
00:19:01ground, anywhere, everything ends up here in the river, and then
00:19:05we complain that there are too many floods,
00:19:08flooded houses, especially in these areas. People
00:19:12might think that I'm not seeing it on the spot,
00:19:16but if it rains in Honduras or in Morazán in the northern
00:19:19part, all that water comes down here. Here we are
00:19:23raising awareness, helping a little to solve this
00:19:25problem.
00:19:28There was also a medical campaign to treat families affected by
00:19:31diseases caused by living in muddy
00:19:34soil.
00:19:37The children also forgot about the floods for a
00:19:40moment, they are doing very well, and
00:19:44it was very much needed also for the mosquitoes because these
00:19:47days the majority of mosquitoes have been terrible,
00:19:51we have been living with this problem for 35 years,
00:19:55and we have always been forgotten, Hugo, we have always been
00:19:57completely forgotten here,
00:20:01this old man says that every year they lose livestock and
00:20:04crops, the cattle cannot walk in the pastures because they get
00:20:07out, because it is inundated with
00:20:10water, and the crops, some
00:20:12crops are lost,
00:20:14old people, some people who worked as sharecroppers and lost everything, because
00:20:18maybe that's how it goes, with
00:20:21three days, the water is already gone, this
00:20:24affluent has become world news due to the impressive
00:20:27amount of tons of waste that cover about 5 km of the
00:20:31riverbed, heavy machinery tries to clear the
00:20:35tons of garbage that cause the
00:20:37floods that have generated an environmental
00:20:40emergency. The National Environmental Coordinator has
00:20:43called on all organizations, environmentalists from the
00:20:46country, communities and environmentalists
00:20:50to join a massive campaign, since here for a
00:20:53long time it will remain flooded and the
00:20:56problems will persist. Roberto Hugo Presa,
00:21:00Telesur, San Miguel El Salvador.
00:21:15Intense rains battered central Philippines, causing severe
00:21:19flooding in the streets and subway of Dezebú city,
00:21:22while authorities attribute the problem to deficiencies
00:21:25in drainage systems. One of the landslides in
00:21:29Cebu buried a house and caused
00:21:32the death of three people. It also forced the evacuation of about
00:21:3535 families due to the risk of
00:21:38flooding. Meteorological authorities predicted that the
00:21:42storms will persist until mid- October, with a daily
00:21:46probability of precipitation of between 40 and 60%.
00:21:58Tropical Storm Isaias is moving as a depression, leaving
00:22:02four people dead and around 9,000
00:22:05families without electricity in the United States, with Florida,
00:22:09Alabama, and Georgia being the most affected states. In Florida,
00:22:12a woman died when a tree fell on her house, and a
00:22:16man died in his garage from an activated generator.
00:22:20The governor of Alabama confirmed two more deaths. In its path
00:22:24through the northern region of America, the storm caused floods,
00:22:28fallen trees, and damage to infrastructure. It should be noted that
00:22:32on Friday night the phenomenon was category 2,
00:22:35but this Saturday it rose to category 3. Given
00:22:39this, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved the
00:22:42emergency declaration for Alabama and is evaluating a
00:22:46similar request from Florida.
00:22:58Hurricane Simón, a Category 4 storm, is approaching
00:23:02western Mexico and is expected to make landfall on October
00:23:0511 in the west of the country. According to the
00:23:08most recent report from the National Meteorological Service, the phenomenon is
00:23:12located 185 km
00:23:16the nation. Although it has not yet made
00:23:19landfall, its effects are already being felt in the west
00:23:23and south of the country, while the waves have
00:23:26increased in height and strength. Heavy rains
00:23:29have also occurred, which could lead to floods and
00:23:33other damages. Given
00:23:37the phenomenon ahead of its imminent arrival on the
00:23:40Mexican Pacific
00:23:41coast.
00:23:50In this regard, the President of Mexico Claudia Sheinbown announced the
00:23:53suspension of non-essential activities in states of
00:23:57Western Mexico due to the arrival of Hurricane Simón. The
00:24:01president wrote on her social media X: We inform the
00:24:04population of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán, and
00:24:07Nayarit, that non-essential activities are suspended today,
00:24:10Saturday, from 4 p.m. due to the passage of Hurricane
00:24:14Simón, category 4. According to the trajectory, it will make
00:24:18landfall during the early hours of Sunday, October 11,
00:24:22between the municipalities of La Huerta and Tomatlán in
00:24:25Jalisco. We urge you to remain in safe places and
00:24:28avoid unnecessary travel. Let's follow
00:24:31the civil protection instructions. This afternoon, the
00:24:34winds will intensify in Colima and Jalisco. In
00:24:38Guerrero, CFE has restored
00:24:4190.57% of electricity service in less than
00:24:4512 hours after the start of rainfall. Attention continues in
00:24:49affected areas
00:24:50of Acapulco.
00:24:58Heavy rains accompanied by gusts of wind and electrical discharges
00:25:02affected several sectors of Greater Caracas in
00:25:05Venezuela, causing flooding, traffic
00:25:08complications, and difficulties for pedestrians. Among the
00:25:12most affected areas were the center and southwest of the
00:25:15capital, where electrical fluctuations were reported.
00:25:18In addition, the situation complicated traffic towards
00:25:22Caracas, Los Teques. The precipitations caused an
00:25:25increase in the flow of the Guaire River and several
00:25:28streams in the capital city, generating
00:25:31concern about water accumulation.
00:25:34Authorities and residents remain alert to the
00:25:37consequences of the rains and the risks associated
00:25:41with new
00:25:42flooding.
00:25:48the capital of Venezuela, the Caracas mayor's office issued the
00:25:51following statement: Due to the heavy rainfall in the
00:25:55capital city, the entire risk management team of the
00:25:58Caracas Mayor's Office is deployed, active, and on permanent
00:26:02alert to address any emergency
00:26:06situation. We are in the field, working for your
00:26:09well-being.
00:26:19Changing topics. In Argentina, where President Javier Miley
00:26:22denies the existence of the last dictatorship, the sustained
00:26:26and tireless work of human rights organizations and the
00:26:30Argentine Forensic Anthropology Team continue
00:26:33to trace and rediscover the bodies of the disappeared in
00:26:37mass graves whose scale they still cannot fully
00:26:40grasp. Our colleague Fabián Restibo shares the
00:26:43details:
00:26:45The traces of the assassinations of the last Argentine civic-military dictatorship
00:26:49reappeared under the ground of the Argentine Army barracks
00:26:53of La Perla in the province of Córdoba. From there,
00:26:57Agueda was informed that 50 years later,
00:27:01the remains of her parents were found. They were together in the
00:27:04transfer, they were transferred together. and the bones
00:27:08appeared together. Hagueda
00:27:10clearly remembers, they were militants and worked in
00:27:14Córdoba and on August 15,
00:27:171977, they kidnapped him and subsequently
00:27:21we were able to reconstruct through testimony of survivors that they had been
00:27:25seen in La Perla, they shot him and
00:27:28and that's it, we knew that much and I don't know why.
00:27:32I was convinced, in some way,
00:27:35certain that they would appear, unlike
00:27:38Águeda, Augusto still hopes that among those piles of
00:27:42earth and bones, a trace of his father will appear, this
00:27:45anxiety sustains him, holding hands with the
00:27:49Argentine forensic anthropology team. I thought that my whole
00:27:52life I would be the child of a disappeared person, that it would be
00:27:55very difficult to find that body, and today thanks to the important
00:27:58work, the struggle of so many years of mothers and grandmothers.
00:28:03To a court that has decided to move forward with this and above all to the
00:28:06Argentine forensic anthropology team, we have found the
00:28:09grave where the majority or an important
00:28:12group of comrades who were murdered in La
00:28:16Perla are, among them my father, La Perla was after the Esma,
00:28:20Navy Mechanics School, the largest kidnapping center in the
00:28:24country, kidnapped people from all over Argentina arrived there,
00:28:27with the transfer of two
00:28:30couples, José Luis Goyochea and Élida Moreno
00:28:33de Goyochea, and the other marriage is Carlos
00:28:37Cruzpeire and Rosa God de Cruz Peire. The
00:28:40Cruz Peire marriage was a militant in Montoneros, he was from here in Buenos
00:28:43Aires, he had gone to Córdoba looking
00:28:46for refuge, they were kidnapped in
00:28:48September 1977, my parents in
00:28:52August 1977, they had nothing to do with it either by militant
00:28:55group or by issues. My father was Tomás
00:28:59Ditofino, he was a union leader of the Light and Power union in
00:29:03Córdoba, he was a target of the genocidal dictatorship that
00:29:07took power in 1976, he was kidnapped and
00:29:10disappeared in the clandestine detention and
00:29:13extermination center La Perla in Córdoba. Augusto
00:29:16Ditofino, founder of the Hijos group, not only
00:29:20waits. The military dictatorship wanted to erase from the collective
00:29:23memory the history of struggle of a generation, we recovered that
00:29:27identity. From Buenos Aires for Telesur, Fabián
00:29:30Restigo.
00:29:32And with this information, we conclude this broadcast of Telesur
00:29:35News, thank you for joining us, stay tuned to
00:29:39our multiplatform, on behalf of the entire technical production team,
00:29:42Andrés Romero, good night.
00:30:48An unexpected result, this is how Lula has described losing in the
00:30:52first round of the Brazilian election, the last one he will dispute in his
00:30:55life. Bolsonaro, with cunning, has managed to identify
00:30:59Lula's PT.
