00:02:17streets of the country to demand improvements in public
00:02:20services from the national government. This Sunday's march demands solutions to
00:02:24problems of access to land, public services, social
00:02:28security, and living conditions. The call brings together
00:02:32social, peasant, trade union, student, and community
00:02:35organizations from the region, under the
00:02:38slogan, "The Eastern Region Rises Up, We Can't Take Any More
00:02:42Abuses." The protests also denounce evictions,
00:02:46violence against
00:02:47social system, and the increase in women, and alleged labor abuses.

00:04:05Our program Venezuela en Movimiento advances in its journey through the
00:04:08country. During its stop in Miranda state, the productive
00:04:12experience of the Añaplácida commune was learned.
00:04:15Our colleague Michelle Ramírez tells us the
00:04:17details.
00:04:22We arrived at the warm lands of Cuba, Miranda state, where the
00:04:28and perspectives of the podcasts of Añaplácida commune is located, which, with a spirit of struggle, love, and... commitment to the homeland, has launched
00:04:32various initiatives that seek to promote local economy and the
00:04:35construction of social happiness. Let's get to know this
00:04:40justice, there is no peace, so that is what community together. In the center of Venezuela, Miranda
00:04:42state, Tuy Valleys region, is the town of Ecua,
00:04:46founded in the year 1690 and popularly
00:04:48known as the Pearl of Tuy. This town, which has
00:04:52more than 170,000 inhabitants, stands out for two important
00:04:55reasons: its historic center, birthplace of the hero Ezequiel Zamora, and for its
00:04:59people. Productive men and
00:05:04promise to increase participation in women.
00:05:05Cuba
00:05:10is much more than these rural streets. In these lands
00:05:13reside the women of the Añaplácida commune, an example of strength
00:05:16and communal organization. Together they have fought for their community
00:05:20for more than a decade, and every initiative has been born within the walls of
00:05:24their self-government room. The commune is my
00:05:26home. The communal members are my
00:05:30brothers, the contemporary communal sisters
00:05:33with me are my brothers. I have my
00:05:36grandchildren within the commune. So, for me, the commune is a
00:05:39home, a home where we are logical.
00:05:43and among equals we have greater, we have greater
00:05:47capacity to understand each other and if
00:05:50we have any difficulty, we are also able to overcome it but
00:05:54together as a family. So from the bottom of my
00:05:58heart I love my commune and I love my communal
00:06:02brothers, sisters, and communal members, because just as 80%
00:06:05here is female and
00:06:08most of the self-government bodies are made up of
00:06:11women. My companions, the 20% male
00:06:15are also my communal brothers, they also have a sense of belonging and
00:06:19commitment just like a woman and
00:06:22they defend women with tooth and nail, so what can I
00:06:26say, my commune is my home, my commune is my
00:06:29home and my communal member is my family. In times of
00:06:32pandemic, a project was born, the collection of solid waste so that
00:06:36its inhabitants live in a clean and healthy space, and months
00:06:40later it became a circular
00:06:42economy. We have built over the last 8 years
00:06:46through the self-government system with the
00:06:49participation of 16 communal councils, a
00:06:52direct social property company that was born as a
00:06:56solid waste plan. This plan continues
00:07:00collecting 60 tons of waste in a
00:07:03self-managed way by these 16 communal
00:07:06councils and
00:07:09training and organization, to
00:07:12form an EPS with the support of Caricuado Caribe, who were
00:07:16our main trainers. The main
00:07:19objective of our commune is to generate
00:07:22a transformation process with our mother earth, to generate a
00:07:26transformation process from the citizen towards
00:07:29nature, towards our
00:07:33territory as that main environment that gives
00:07:36us life and that gives us
00:07:40life and generates all
00:07:43the main inputs for us to develop as a people, as
00:07:47a nation. The workforce is female. It is the women
00:07:51who collect the waste in their communities and bring it to the collection
00:07:54center, and at the pace of the scooter, the journey begins
00:07:58until it reaches the classification
00:07:59center.
00:08:07They arrive at this green landscape with enthusiasm, get to work
00:08:11and recycle what used to be trash. We separate it
00:08:14into eight groups, each group is formed
00:08:18by one item, for example we have the PET, which we
00:08:22call PET, which is the plastic from
00:08:25chairs, the plastic from laundry baskets, the plastic
00:08:29from kitchen utensils. We also have
00:08:32blown plastic, which is this plastic that includes shampoo
00:08:35bottles, bleach bottles,
00:08:38paint containers. We also have
00:08:43a separate category because it's a material
00:08:46which is the plastic from
00:08:49butter containers, Chinese
00:08:52refrigerators, washing machines and all that. All
00:08:56these processes are done here with the spokespersons who make up the
00:09:00EPS, the commune, those of us who started this
00:09:03project. Once we have weighed it
00:09:07by communal council to know how much each communal council
00:09:11has given us and to be able to
00:09:14give them back what they need, brush cutters
00:09:17for their dance group, lighting, whatever they require
00:09:21and can afford with the amount of material they
00:09:24have given us. The love for the homeland, for the environment, for their Venezuelan
00:09:28brothers and sisters, has been the pillar that has sustained their work. The
00:09:32love, first, the legacy that our commander Rafael Hugo
00:09:36Chávez Fría left us, which our president Nicolás Maduro
00:09:40is following, and now our president,
00:09:42as the general manager, is that, socialism,
00:09:46unity, equality,
00:09:49social justice, because if there is no
00:09:53we, the Añaplácida commune, want, to generate
00:09:5621st century socialism. With more than 60
00:09:59tons of recycled waste per month, they contribute to the
00:10:02economic diversification of Miranda state, which emerges from its agricultural,
00:10:06agro-industrial, manufacturing, and
00:10:09export sectors.
00:10:14Thus, the Añaplácida commune consolidates itself as a benchmark for
00:10:17self-management, popular organization, and sustainable
00:10:20development. Its management stands out for its ability to transform local
00:10:23problems into collective solutions, achieving a balance
00:10:27between citizen participation and environmental care. With Jesús
00:10:31Romero on camera, Michel Ramírez from Miranda, Venezuela for
00:10:33Telesur. The acting President of Venezuela, Delsi
00:10:37Rodríguez, arrived this Sunday in the city of Rome, Italy, to
00:10:40participate in the World Food Forum of the United
00:10:44Nations Food and Agriculture
00:10:46Organization. Upon her arrival, the president highlighted the
00:10:49executive's commitment to food as an essential human
00:10:53right. She also emphasized that agro-productive
00:10:56processes must be carried out with respect for
00:11:00nature and mentioned that Venezuela seeks to consolidate
00:11:03important advances with the aim of eradicating hunger. Until
00:11:07next October 16, more than 190 countries
00:11:10will participate in various debates focused on fighting
00:11:14malnutrition and creating strategies to optimize food
00:11:18production and mitigate the effects of climate
00:11:21change.
00:11:27We are here participating in the World Food
00:11:29Forum, highlighting the importance that Venezuela gives
00:11:33to food as a fundamental human right,
00:11:37highlighting the relevance of agro-productive
00:11:40processes that must be responsible with respect for
00:11:43nature in all countries of the world.
00:11:47Venezuela has maintained economic growth since
00:11:502021 and is making progress in food security with more
00:11:54production and nutrition for the benefit of the
00:11:57citizenry. Let's see the following
00:11:59material.
00:12:05The Ministry of Popular Power for Food
00:12:08ensures that Venezuela reduced undernourishment to
00:12:125.3% during the triennium
00:12:152023-2025.
00:12:18Which translates into more than 1.5 million
00:12:22beneficiaries. The nation is advancing in the
00:12:26multiplication of sovereign
00:12:29seeds adapted to agrometeorological
00:12:32variations,
00:12:36United Nations organizations that established 2700
00:12:39daily calories per person,
00:12:43after managing to exceed
00:12:453,300 calories per
00:12:47day. At the close of
00:12:502025, the South American country registered a
00:12:54primary food production of 22 million
00:12:58metric tons.
00:13:01Currently, Venezuela has a national supply
00:13:04rate of
00:13:0699.5%,
00:13:09and strategic food reserves for more than 100
00:13:13days. In the first seven months of the year,
00:13:17food consumption increased by
00:13:199.6%.
00:13:21Proteins increased by 11.
00:13:258%, cereals by
00:13:274.78%,
00:13:30while fats increased
00:13:32by 6.99%.
00:13:36For the start of the
00:13:382026-2027 school year,
00:13:41the Bolivarian government guaranteed 2.5 million
00:13:44meals distributed in schools throughout the
00:13:48country.
00:13:50These data are recorded amidst 22 consecutive
00:13:54quarters of economic growth,
00:13:57despite the more than one thousand unilateral
00:14:00coercive measures that are still imposed against the
00:14:04country.
00:14:08From this 11th until Friday, October 16, the
00:14:11World Food Forum of the United Nations Food and
00:14:15Agriculture Organization is being held in Rome,
00:14:19Italy, an opportunity for nations
00:14:22to present their capacities and limitations to ensure
00:14:25food security. Let's look at the origin of this
00:14:28organization: the organization was founded on October 16,
00:14:321945, with the aim of uniting efforts among
00:14:35nations to eradicate hunger, promote agricultural
00:14:38sustainability, and sustainably manage natural
00:14:42resources. The FAO also focuses on
00:14:46providing technical assistance to countries, collecting global
00:14:49statistical data, coordinating policies, and responding to
00:14:53food crises and emergencies. It currently has
00:14:57at least 194 members and works in 130
00:15:00countries with the support of
00:15:02governments.
00:15:10Changing topic, Brazilian popular organizations call for
00:15:13national mobilizations to support the re-election of Luiz
00:15:17Inácio Lula da Silva as a warning against a
00:15:20possible election of Flavio Bolsonaro. Sao Paulo is the
00:15:24epicenter. The massive mobilizations, which
00:15:29the streets, where a rally by candidate Flavio Bolsonaro
00:15:33has also been held, President Luiz Inácio Lula da
00:15:36Silva. through electioneering
00:15:40Paulista Avenue to seek his re-election, the head
00:15:44of state is preparing to overcome the disadvantage of almost
00:15:48two percentage points registered in the first round,
00:15:51promoting a climate of social mobilization and support for his
00:15:55candidacy.
00:16:54We are back with more Telesur News, thank you for staying with
00:16:58us. As part of his pre-campaign for the general
00:17:01elections on November 29, the Spanish government president Pedro
00:17:05Sánchez asked this Sunday the Supreme Court to guarantee the
00:17:09right to vote of those naturalized under the
00:17:12so-called Grandchildren's Law. During his rally, Sánchez
00:17:15accused the Popular Party and Vox of preventing some
00:17:19400,000 naturalized people from participating in the
00:17:22November elections, actions that were
00:17:25described as an attempt of abuse.
00:17:29He reminded that these Spaniards already exercised their right to vote in
00:17:332023 and 2025, so he
00:17:35rejected that they be prevented from participating in 2026. In a
00:17:39democracy, the right to vote is not prohibited, it is guaranteed,
00:17:42declared the head of the Spanish government. In his speech,
00:17:46he also defended his administration's policies focused on the
00:17:49housing crisis, employment, and
00:17:52feminism.
00:18:00A survey revealed that French President Emmanuel Macron
00:18:04accumulated an 82% rejection
00:18:07rate and only a 15% favorable
00:18:10opinion on the eve of the 2027 presidential
00:18:13contest. The government's disapproval
00:18:16reached historical levels. Among the citizens' priorities
00:18:20are the loss of purchasing power, the defense of the
00:18:25public debt. To this situation is added the
00:18:28repression unleashed against student protests throughout the
00:18:32country. Macron's leadership
00:18:35exclusive support of his political family, while
00:18:39far-right figures lead in relative
00:18:42preferences. The reforms, austerity
00:18:45policies, cuts in public services, and fear of
00:18:49unemployment reached 76% of the
00:18:53population, because Macron's measures fall
00:18:56on the most vulnerable sectors, workers, and
00:18:59retirees.
00:19:07Pope Leo XIV announced this Sunday that he will
00:19:11undergo surgery for a nodule in his lung. The pontiff
00:19:14detailed that the pulmonary
00:19:17nodule was detected at an initial
00:19:20stage, so doctors consider it appropriate
00:19:23to intervene. The religious leader assured
00:19:26that he would follow medical recommendations and announced that the
00:19:30operation is already scheduled for the coming days, where
00:19:33he expects a speedy recovery. He also took the opportunity to
00:19:37thank the faithful for their closeness and entrusted himself to their
00:19:41prayers.
00:19:49US President Donald Trump stated that Russia and
00:19:52Ukraine agreed to an immediate energy
00:19:56truce. The US president announced the news
00:19:59through a post on the social network Truth Social
00:20:03after signing an energy agreement with Russia
00:20:06for the supply of diesel in the global market.
00:20:10So far, Moscow and Kiev have not confirmed such
00:20:14claims, nor what the next
00:20:17steps might be.
00:20:24A sudden flood of the Budi Gandaki River in north-central
00:20:28Nepal caused the destruction of homes and other
00:20:32structures, forcing authorities to evacuate residents
00:20:36of the riverside area. As part of the
00:20:39emergency operations, a Nepalese army helicopter
00:20:42rescued six people in the town of
00:20:46Hagat, where there is also a risk of
00:20:50time of the report, no fatalities had been reported,
00:20:54while disaster management teams investigated the causes
00:20:58of the flood and maintained
00:21:01communities. The episode occurs while the country
00:21:05is still facing the consequences of previous floods on the
00:21:09border with China that caused serious human and material
00:21:12damage.
00:21:36Iran accused US President Donald Trump of
00:21:39resorting to fear politics after the
00:21:42president claimed that Tehran could wipe
00:21:45out the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego. The spokesman for the Iranian
00:21:50Foreign Minister, Ismail Bakkai, stated that these
00:21:53actions are a clear example of the playbook Washington follows to
00:21:56instill fear in people, presenting imaginary
00:22:00threats. The diplomat asserted that these statements
00:22:04seek to divert attention from the illegal wars
00:22:07promoted by the United States against West Asia. The US
00:22:11president tried to justify his hate speech
00:22:15against the Persian country, arguing that he was referring
00:22:18to the increase in gasoline prices as an acceptable
00:22:21cost to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear
00:22:25weapon.
00:22:33The demarcation and control zone established by the Israeli military,
00:22:37known as the Yellow Line, expanded
00:22:40towards the western part of the Palestinian neighborhood of
00:22:43Shuhaya. Various sectors that were previously at
00:22:47the limits or outside the militarized zone
00:22:50by Israel, suddenly became part of the control
00:22:53perimeter or were at imminent risk of
00:22:56incursion. This modification and proximity to
00:23:00the strategic Salah Aldin street caused a new
00:23:03wave of forced displacement among the inhabitants who still
00:23:07remained in the east of the Gaza Strip. The advance of this
00:23:11barrier directly affects internal connectivity
00:23:14and increases the vulnerability of the Palestinian
00:23:17population due to the narrowing of the areas
00:23:20considered
00:23:21safe.
00:23:30At least 139 people have died, including
00:23:3415 children, after a migrant boat sank
00:23:37off the coast of Djibouti. The International
00:23:40Organization for Migration reported that 84 people
00:23:44are still missing, noting that women, men, and
00:23:47also children were on
00:23:50board. Search and rescue efforts continue on the beach, thanks
00:23:54to personal items that likely belonged to the
00:23:57missing. The boat was heading to
00:24:00Yemen, despite the region being in an armed
00:24:03conflict.
00:24:11The constant loss of wildlife in Africa, especially due
00:24:14to habitat loss,
00:24:18the need to empower local communities that
00:24:21for centuries have protected biodiversity and
00:24:25coexistence with wildlife, such as the Maasai
00:24:28people of Kenya and Tanzania. We feel,
00:24:32we feel what is hidden behind the human-animal conflict
00:24:35in two concrete realities.
00:24:39In Amboseli, Kenya, it is still unknown what or who killed
00:24:43twenty elephants in July and August. Authorities
00:24:46immediately blamed farmers, but so far,
00:24:50the case has not been solved. After the death of the last
00:24:53elephant, the police arrested a group of suspects, but the
00:24:57court released them without charges and there are no indications
00:25:00that the investigation is continuing. We started as
00:25:03anti-poaching, but in the last 10 years or so there has been a
00:25:07transition from being anti-poaching to addressing
00:25:10human-wildlife conflict. People will
00:25:13coexist with wildlife if they have incentives for
00:25:16it. This theory has not been applied. For
00:25:20decades, the Maasai's communal pastures have been a refuge
00:25:23and wildlife corridor in Amboseli, but the
00:25:27failure to pay for this ecosystem service has driven
00:25:30private land division, and drought
00:25:33cycles put animals at permanent risk if their
00:25:36mobility is restricted. Our main focus now is to
00:25:40safeguard this land that could potentially be divided into
00:25:4310-acre fenced plots where wildlife
00:25:47will not have access.
00:25:58a wetland where tomatoes are grown and where the animals
00:26:05were used to coming here because it was an area designated for conservation, but when
00:26:09farmers started cultivating,
00:26:12we have the problem
00:26:16conservation is little compared to what they get from leasing the
00:26:19land for agricultural
00:26:20use.
00:26:23It's very little still, about $10 a year per acre,
00:26:27but it's a start, we have to build on it over
00:26:30time.
00:26:42Ask them where they killed these donkeys,
00:26:45they will never tell you, they can show us the bodies of
00:26:49the donkeys, they will never show them to you, because they
00:26:52don't exist. The Maasai are in conflict with the
00:26:56conservation authority, which for 5 years has been trying to remove them from
00:27:00Ngorongoro.
00:27:04First they cut their social services and now they prohibit
00:27:07them from accessing the pastures and lakes of Endutu, on which their livelihood
00:27:11depends. They want the entire area to be only for
00:27:15conservation, like a land that cannot be entered,
00:27:18but for us it means death. We will accept relocation,
00:27:22they will wait in their graves, it will not
00:27:26happen, we will leave. Behind the
00:27:29human-animal conflict are hidden conflicts.
00:30:34us how after more than a decade of
00:30:37mobilizations and demands for justice by the
00:30:40families, the case of the 43 disappeared Ayotzinapa students
00:30:44remains unresolved. In this
00:30:47episode, the lack of responses from the administration
00:30:51of Enrique Peña Nieto and the alleged complicity of the
00:30:55army are analyzed, also offering the fundamental
00:30:58keys to understanding.
