00:01:16Welcome to the program, Saudi Arabia is
00:01:18in shutting down schools in the capital as it decides how to respond to a
00:01:22missile attack on the main airport. 12 people were killed and more
00:01:25than 300 injured
00:01:28of in a Saturday strike that threatens to... further inflame
00:01:31a region that's already on edge
00:01:33of the US war on Iran. Domestic terminals at King colored
00:01:37international airport were hit with Saudi Arabia
00:01:40of blaming the ansarala Hutis from neighboring Yemen.
00:01:43Basam Bunene reports.
00:01:47Saudi Arabia has been hit hard, deep inside its
00:01:51territory. There was panic inside the domestic terminals of
00:01:55King Khalid International Airport in Riyad after it
00:01:58was track by a missile on Saturday afternoon, the Saudi
00:02:02led military coalition describes what
00:02:05of happened as a war
00:02:07of crime,
00:02:07of vowing, decisive response, a projectile
00:02:11also landed near King Fahad international airport in
00:02:15Damasmam, the Saudis blame the
00:02:18ans from neighboring Yaman for the
00:02:21attacks,
00:02:22of the UN secretary general also pointed the finger at the
00:02:25group, Antonio Guterej demanded that the...
00:02:30attack stop
00:02:31of immediately. The Iran-backed group said it carried
00:02:35out separate strikes on Riyadh's main airport on
00:02:39of Thursday, killing three people and damaging an aircraft, but they
00:02:43haven't claimed
00:02:44of responsibility
00:02:45of for Saturday's strike. Hours before, the
00:02:48Hutis had said they were prepared to take reciprocal
00:02:52steps with Saudi Arabia, to keep airports, seaports
00:02:56and other civilian facilities used for humanitarian.
00:03:00purposes out
00:03:01of the expanding confrontation, the question now
00:03:05is whether or not the US will respond to Saudi calls to join
00:03:09in, i think it's
00:03:12of of terrible, well you're going to find out, see, but i think it's
00:03:15terrible, are the saudis able to
00:03:19defend themselves, well they're able to defend, look, the saudis are
00:03:23good fighters, but i think the attack was terrible
00:03:26thing, the hethies have already put pressure on.
00:03:30Arabia through their control
00:03:31of the Babel Mandab straight, through which much of
00:03:35Saudi Arabia's oil exports are
00:03:38shipped, but in the past week, the Yemani
00:03:42government forces backed by Saudi Arabia have
00:03:46made some progress in pushing back
00:03:48of the Hoothi advance. They claimed on Saturday to have
00:03:52killed more than
00:03:53of 1,400 Houti fighters in 24
00:03:57hours, the next move. could determine not
00:04:01only
00:04:01of the state of this conflict, but whether the region
00:04:05again becomes
00:04:07of engaffed in war.
00:04:09a b) and mohammed alatab
00:04:13has more from the yemini capital sana. so
00:04:17far the military spokes person hasn't
00:04:21talked during his latest pressers about the latest attacks on
00:04:25Riyadh, but previously they have reated
00:04:28of their of warnings. for flights and
00:04:32also the people who are using the air space
00:04:35of the Saudi
00:04:36of Arabia accepted for the Medina and Mecca, they said that they wouldn't attack
00:04:40airports in in Mecca and Madina, but also they have won of using
00:04:44the airports of Saudi Arabia and also its air
00:04:48of space throughout the the the Saudi kingdom, so we are talk
00:04:52about this equation that have been
00:04:54issued reiterated by the Houthies from
00:04:58the beginning
00:04:58of the leaders. they are the going to make this
00:05:02blockade for blockade and also escalation for
00:05:06escalation so we are what we are witnessing that this is an
00:05:10indication that the the the escalation between the Saudi
00:05:13Arabian His and also the internationally recognized government has come has
00:05:17cross so so many lines that we are talking about the now we
00:05:21civilians are being attacked in different areas especially in Yemen
00:05:25and also in Saudi Arabia so far many observers hope that
00:05:28the the these latest escalation could be
00:05:31deescalated by the international international diplomacy
00:05:35especially as the price is the civilians
00:05:39are paying the price of such development so we are. talking about
00:05:43this developments and the the according the to the spokes
00:05:46person the internationally recognized government majd, he
00:05:50mentioned that they have inflicted heavy losses on the hy fighters,
00:05:54especially and when they have tried to advance towards what he
00:05:57described the airport of dabab and also they have mentioned
00:06:01that they have carried out nearly
00:06:031900 operations which is which
00:06:07is in the context of yeman's done according to his
00:06:10words. Turkish Head of Communications,
00:06:14Berhane Duran has reacted to Saturday's deadly attack on
00:06:18Ryan's main airport and extended his condolences to the victims
00:06:21families. In a statement he condemned the attacks targeting civilians
00:06:25and airports in Saudi Arabia which have resulted in deaths
00:06:29and injuries. He called on the international community to take a
00:06:33united and decisive stance against such attacks which threatened
00:06:37to drag the region into further conflict and
00:06:40chaos.
00:06:47Israeli military is expanding, it's so-called yellow
00:06:51line in the east of Gaza City. Israeli forces opened
00:06:55heavy fire and launched artillery shelling in the shujaya
00:06:59area, injuring two Palestinians including a pregnant
00:07:02woman. dozens of Palestinian families were forced to flee
00:07:06once again in search of safety, following advances by Israeli
00:07:10military. locals describe it as night of terror filled with
00:07:14heavy gunfire and explosions. the UN selling
00:07:17said, rather, nearly two-thirds the enclave is
00:07:21inaccessible to Palestinians or subject to
00:07:25severe restrictions.
00:07:28residents of Gaza's al-Zavada have inspected
00:07:32the aftermath of an Israeli air strike. The residents say they were
00:07:36given five minutes to evacuate before bombs were dropped on the
00:07:40house on Saturday. Israel has stepped up strikes
00:07:44against Palestinians in Gaza undermining a US broker
00:07:47ceasefire agreed a year ago. For more on
00:07:51all of this, let's bring in our correspondent Ashraf Shannon who joins us
00:07:55from Gaza City. Hello there, Ashraf, what more can you tell us
00:07:59about today's developments and particularly the expansion of that
00:08:03so-called yellow
00:08:04line?
00:08:11Yes, well, as we edge close. to Israeli elections emily
00:08:14uh we've noticed uh rapid increase
00:08:18and the vicious Israeli attacks against
00:08:22the people of Gaza including last night in
00:08:25Zawaida and here in Gaza City actually in Gaza City was much much
00:08:29worse than Zawaida and balah for example they would give you
00:08:33an evacuation order within five or 10 minutes they
00:08:37blow up the whole place and this means more
00:08:40displacement and now as we talk about displacement,
00:08:44emily, the yellow line, the yellow line was created
00:08:48to be a
00:08:49temporary de
00:08:52facto, not even de facto, a temporary border that should you
00:08:56know control where Israel will be controlling
00:08:5955% the gaza strip, and all parties agreed
00:09:03agreed on that, but Israel did not abide by the
00:09:07seasfire agreement, which marks
00:09:10year, yesterday we marked the... year since
00:09:13the the signing the seasfire back in October 20 20
00:09:162025, since the first day the seas fire
00:09:20imilily Israeli forces did not expand the
00:09:23seas fire uh per say but they started shooting you
00:09:27know sniper fire here tank shell landing landing
00:09:31there and this has resulted in
00:09:35Israel controlling at least mean at least
00:09:3870% the gaza strip gaza is around 360 s
00:09:42kilometers and now uh more than two million people
00:09:46live within uh around 100 square
00:09:50kilometers, but even that is not enough, Israel this
00:09:54morning not far from here in Gaza City, because for
00:09:58example I'm here in in in
00:10:00in Gaza City everywhere is close to me because I'm in the
00:10:04less than 30% of of uh of Gaza,
00:10:08Israeli forces moved this yellow concrete
00:10:11blocks. dozens of meters towards the west, towards the
00:10:14Mediterranean, literally displacing
00:10:18hundreds of people, dozens of families had to
00:10:21flee uh in the early hours of today,
00:10:25seeking shelter a place that's not suitable for those
00:10:29who live in it where we live right now back to you
00:10:32speaking speaking of shelter Ashraf - winter
00:10:36is only few months away how can palestinians if at all
00:10:39really prepare for these harsh conditions they're likely to
00:10:42face
00:10:49well believe it or not emily for Palestinians in Gaza winter has already
00:10:53started because although we're not technically in the
00:10:56winter time, but it rains every couple of
00:11:00days here in Gaza, a little bit drizzle, but enough to flood
00:11:04tents and cause lot of
00:11:07problems, mixes rain water with with with
00:11:11sewage flowing in the streets and people here in
00:11:15Gaza, they learned that there is some sort of some type of
00:11:19a storm coming their way, possibly in December, we're talking about
00:11:22Lnino, and now people pan... and there's nothing
00:11:26for them to do basically, and we
00:11:28have more in the following
00:11:29report.
00:11:35is a word man with what could be very harsh winter
00:11:38around the corner, he's deeply concerned for his family
00:11:42who live a tent. i'm trying to secure my
00:11:46tent, i have newborn baby who is less than a weekold and three young
00:11:50children. last year we suffered badly when a storm hit, so i need
00:11:54to be. at this time, this year the conditions
00:11:58could be much worse for the people in Gaza already suffering due to
00:12:02Israel's devastating war on the strip, for families
00:12:06living in fragile shelters, even basic preparations may not be
00:12:10enough, war damaged homes and obliterated
00:12:13infrastructure leave many displacement sites
00:12:16vulnerable to flooding as well as
00:12:18collapse, we heard that very
00:12:22powerful storm may be coming our way, destroy homes, let
00:12:26alone tents, we put our trust in God, my tent is
00:12:30so fragile that even a light storm could destroy it,
00:12:33imagine what this storm could do, the storm he is
00:12:37referring to is the elninu weather phenomena,
00:12:41scientists are warning about its catastrophic effects which could
00:12:45settle firmly by december, and in Gaza, its
00:12:49repercussions could make life even worse, according to the
00:12:52international organization for migration in IOM,
00:12:56around 1.8 million people are living in displacement sites
00:13:00across the wartorn territory, more than 80%
00:13:04the tents and makeshift shelters are in poor
00:13:07condition, while only 17% of winter shelter
00:13:11needs have been met. We're dreading
00:13:15the winter as well as the storm, the rain could flood our tents,
00:13:18leaking in from above and sweeping in from
00:13:22below. We have almost nothing to protect ourselves. with we
00:13:25lie awake at night, worried about the rain and the strong
00:13:29winds. there is no end to the suffering. with
00:13:33little protection from the rain, families fear the destruction the
00:13:37shelters and the exposure to the cold. as
00:13:41palestinians prepare to face another harsh winter, they brace themselves for the
00:13:45worst and Israel's refusal to allow adequate shelter
00:13:48material. ashraf shanan, trt world,
00:13:51gaza. outside gaza.
00:13:55illegal Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians trying to harvest
00:13:59olives on their land east of Romala. Residents from several
00:14:03villages had gathered together hoping there would be safety in
00:14:06numbers. Mohammed Alwan has more from the occupied West
00:14:10Bank. Anne Abrode village west of
00:14:13Ramala, Palestinians came to pick up their olives
00:14:17from a land they used to pick up the olives from since
00:14:21decades,
00:14:21but this year it's different as a league settlers established in. new
00:14:25outpost at the top of that mountain, today the residents
00:14:29decided to go to their land and to pick up their olives in
00:14:32groups so they can guarantee their protection as illegal settlers are
00:14:36attacking the Palestinians frequently in different areas in the occupied west
00:14:40bank, but they were also attacked by the illegal settlers and
00:14:44of course backed by Israeli forces, bks,
00:14:48palestinians are losing their land, the settler established his outpost about
00:14:52seven months ago, taking control the entire hill. This
00:14:55is their fathers and grandfathers lands. They planted these trees and
00:14:59worked hard to cultivate the lands. During the olive harvest,
00:15:03the settlers not only still their olives, but also take over their
00:15:07land, preventing Palestinians from assessing their own
00:15:10property. Illegal settlers have seized the head the local counsel's vehicle
00:15:14and prevented residence from reaching their land. What is happening here is a part
00:15:18of wider pattern across the occupied west bank where Palestinians land
00:15:22have been taken. Palestinians left today. without picking their olive
00:15:26harvest, but they say they want to keep on trying, not just to
00:15:30get the amount of olive harvest they used to get every year, but to keep
00:15:34their land, identity and heritage.
00:15:39To Pakistan now, an estate of emergency has been imposed in the province
00:15:42of Kaiba Pactunqua. The government has also replaced the
00:15:46provincial head with a state-appointed governor. The province is
00:15:50the stronghold the PTI party led by former Prime
00:15:54Minister Imran Khan, who has been in prison since
00:15:572023. Main roads in the province's capital,
00:16:01Peshuar are blocked with shipping containers, and the mobile network
00:16:05has also been cut. The move. comes after days of protest by
00:16:09khan supporters who had wanted to march on Islamabad to demand
00:16:13his release. The state appointed governor claimed people
00:16:16welcomed the decision. They
00:16:20blocked all the roots by placing containers. Why have the roots been
00:16:24blocked? The public voted for them. Where is democracy? Who is not
00:16:27implementing the constitution? Look here, wherever the constitution is
00:16:31not being implemented, you should get it implemented. Why are you
00:16:35humiliating the public? And from Islamabad,
00:16:39Camron Yusuf tells us what motivated Pakistan's government
00:16:43to impose this state of emergency. Khaiber
00:16:46Pakhtunkhah is the only province where opposition Pakistan Tahrik Insaaf,
00:16:50a party of former prime minister Imran Khan was currently
00:16:54ruling. Tensions between the center and the KP
00:16:57government have been brewing for some time over security issues. It
00:17:01is worth noting here that Khabar Pakhton Kwa shares border with
00:17:05Afghanistan and the province has seen. surge in terrorist attacks
00:17:09in recent months and the federal government feels
00:17:12that provincial authorities were not cooperating with them
00:17:16how to deal with this problem. in fact, when Prime
00:17:20Minister Shabbaz Sharif today chaired emergency federal cabinet
00:17:24meeting where they took this decision of imposing emergency and
00:17:28governor's rule in the KP province, they
00:17:31particularly cited the lack of cooperation from the
00:17:35provincial government to deal with the issue. of terrorism,
00:17:39this decision effectively means that now the federal
00:17:42government is in charge the provincial matters, they will
00:17:46take all the major decisions, however this
00:17:50move by the federal government should also be seen in the
00:17:53context of ongoing protest by Pakistan
00:17:57Tahrik Insaf seeking the release their leader former
00:18:01prime minister Imran Khan, the KP chief
00:18:05minister who is now longer a chief minister
00:18:09after the imposition of emergency and governor's rule launched
00:18:12a campaign last week and he was
00:18:16planning to march towards Islamabad to put pressure
00:18:20on the federal government to seek the release their leader. many
00:18:24political experts believe that this latest move by the
00:18:27federal government was also aimed at deterring
00:18:31opposition protesters to come to
00:18:33Islamabad. earlier I spoke with MTS.
00:18:37school who is the executive director at the center for research and security studies
00:18:41in Islamabad, he explained how the government has
00:18:44justified imposing emergency
00:18:47rule. this is the culmination the
00:18:51confrontation that had been going on between the center, the military
00:18:54establishment and the Pakistan tarike Insaf
00:18:58ever since the removal of Imran Khan
00:19:01in April 2022 through vote of
00:19:05no confidence, so It was very much expected
00:19:09and the federal government as well as its allies had
00:19:13been basically warning against this, but the
00:19:16party and the particular chief minister of that province had been
00:19:20pursuing one point agenda and that was the release of
00:19:23Imran khan or at least his transfer from
00:19:27jail solity confinement to hospital
00:19:31the choice of Imran Khan and the party,
00:19:34but the talks... also break down
00:19:38between
00:19:39the the PTI and other the federal government, precisely on this
00:19:42point, there was no confirmation, no commitment by the federal
00:19:45government as to whether it was ready to transfer Imran
00:19:49Khan to the hospital for treatment because
00:19:53his health is reportedly
00:19:56deteriorating and
00:19:58this, the the chief minister had
00:20:02been confined, basically had been conved that he should not come
00:20:06to Islamabad with tens of thousands of people,
00:20:09so he did not relent, and
00:20:13then we see the imposition the emergency. now the government
00:20:16has basically used the growing
00:20:20incidence of terrorism in the province as a
00:20:24justification, whereas if we look, if we compare the southwestern
00:20:28Balochistan province with the Northwestern Khabarka
00:20:31province, so far this year, the largest number of
00:20:35violence related deaths have... occurred in
00:20:39Baluchistan nearly 1600
00:20:42compared to nearly 1400 in Paxtunkhah but
00:20:46obviously the the federal government. has
00:20:50the upper hand, it has the authority, and whether
00:20:54now, although that authority was also contingent upon
00:20:58the approval the chief minister of that province for
00:21:01imposing emergency or governor's rule, but
00:21:05unfortunately that has happened, and that is another
00:21:08indication the gradual regression
00:21:12of democracy and democratic institutions in
00:21:15Pakistan. To India now, where the cockroach
00:21:19protest movement. Leader Abijit Dipki has been released from
00:21:23detention with two other senior leaders. They were arrested on
00:21:26Saturday along with thousands of others who took to the streets calling for the
00:21:30resignation the country's election chief. Protesters
00:21:34accused him of side-stepping rules and regulations and
00:21:38making several changes to the voter registration process.
00:21:41Several protesters, mostly students were dragged onto a bus,
00:21:45some with visible injuries. Smita Shama is
00:21:49following the latest. developments from New
00:21:51Delhi. I'm here at Knowt
00:21:54place in New Delhi. This is one the most popular commercial
00:21:58establishments market place. You can hear the
00:22:01continuous security forces announcements asking people to
00:22:05disperse and look at the number of security
00:22:09vehicles that have been deployed here, the layers of security
00:22:12personnel from different forces, whether it's Delhi Police, Rapid action
00:22:16force, all the security deployment keeping in. mind that
00:22:20massive protests are on, call for protests by
00:22:24various youth outfits, student organizations who are
00:22:28demanding the resignation the chief
00:22:31polling officer of India, he is accused of
00:22:35serious electoral fraudulance and some 130 million
00:22:39eligible Indian voters whose names have been taken off the polling
00:22:43list following this exercise called the special intensive
00:22:46revision today the apex court the supreme court has
00:22:50heard multiple petitions against what played out on the streets of
00:22:54delhi, the internet restrictions, internet data was
00:22:58suspended for 24 hours, metro stations were
00:23:01shut, railways, trains were cancelled off, buses were
00:23:05cancelled off so that students, youth activistts could not commute to
00:23:09delhi, despite that people tried coming into the
00:23:13city to go to the designated protest site jantar mantar, they
00:23:16were stopped or to at least try and protest and make
00:23:20themselves herd in different corners the Delhi National Capital Region,
00:23:24several thousand people were detained and every now and then we do
00:23:27see here in canot place that these security
00:23:30forces, they run, nap
00:23:34somebody, some individual, detain them and take them away in the
00:23:38detention vehicles, you can look at the entire
00:23:42sea of security personnel deployed here in the national
00:23:45capital, unprecedented scenes as citizens
00:23:49continue to demand electoral
00:23:51accountability from
00:23:55the BJP government in India because they say that
00:23:59this is democracy, the world's largest
00:24:02one.
00:24:14Ukraine's president volodimir Zelensky has said it's up to his people to
00:24:17pick new leader and that his ready to organize elections
00:24:21if his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin agrees to a
00:24:2560-day ceasefire. Zelensky was responding to Donald
00:24:29Trump who says it's time for Ukraine to get new president. It
00:24:33follows criticism from his Ukrainian counterpart a US diesel
00:24:37deal with Russia. The deal is expected to lead to the
00:24:41immediate release of more than 300 thousand tons of Russian
00:24:44diesel with more to come in the months ahead. Trump is trying
00:24:48to drive down. diesel prices in the US ahead of next
00:24:52month's mid-term elections. well, i think you
00:24:56should have an election and he could have settled this thing many
00:25:00times. well, i think that Russia would like to make
00:25:03deal, and we've had it back and forth, but Russia
00:25:07would like to make deal, but uh, as i said, this is
00:25:11something that could have been solved many times, but for
00:25:15whatever reason Zelinski does not want to make
00:25:17deal. Leone Lake filed this
00:25:21report little earlier from Washington
00:25:24DC. Well, what we're seeing Trump do is
00:25:27essentially trying shift the blame from himself and
00:25:31from the White House in the administration for the higher diesel and oil
00:25:35prices that we're seeing around the world, especially here in the United States.
00:25:39And we've been hearing him say these kinds of things recently in campaign
00:25:43rallies. He's trying to blame Ukraine and Zelensky for these
00:25:47higher prices that we're seeing, uh, and when
00:25:49you talk to... analys they say yes, of course uh the Ukraine Russia
00:25:53war does impact prices, but the bigger issue is the
00:25:57fact that supplies have been essentially brought almost to a stancil
00:26:01from the street of her moon. which would point fingers once again at the
00:26:05administration in the Iran war, and so what we hear Trump do
00:26:08repeatedly, especially in recent weeks, is try and blame Ukraine
00:26:12and Zelensky for it, and the types of actions we've seen him
00:26:16do in the past few weeks shows that he's actually quite concerned about
00:26:20these prices, diesel prices uh in the US are up nearly
00:26:2475% since the war began uh and this
00:26:28really impacts the heartlands of America, the farming,
00:26:31agricultural part. the country that are very important part of
00:26:34Trump's base uh and in recent weeks we've seen him
00:26:38taking quite a few drastic actions
00:26:40so last month US congress passed bill that
00:26:44essentially widened the sanctions on Russia, not just
00:26:48that Trump came out and criticized Europeans who were still
00:26:52buying oil from Russia uh and then he makes his about turn
00:26:55making this diesel uh deal with
00:26:58Russia in the past day um addition to that
00:27:02he has threatened the Europeans, he threatened to ban
00:27:06American exports uh of diesel to the Europe,
00:27:10and uh Europeans responded by releasing some their stock
00:27:14piles, trying to add supply to the market, which is what Trump wanted.
00:27:17um, he's even waved a fuel tax a different type of diesel in the
00:27:21country to try and add supplies. the problem with all of this at the
00:27:25moment is nothing is really shifting the prices uh
00:27:29and so all these kinds of measures and all these kinds of uh comments we're
00:27:33hearing from Trump just shows that he's a little bit uh
00:27:36desperate and also just very concerned about what's happening with the prices
00:27:40and he knows that voters are paying attention
00:27:44and in some breaking news before we end the program
00:27:47we have some news uh on the Ukraine and Russia war.
00:27:51US president Donald Trump has posted
00:27:54on his truth social that both countries had agreed
00:27:58to what he described as an energy ceasefire.
00:28:01He said that the energy cease fire was taking effect immediately,
00:28:05but did not elaborate. We'll have more on that at the top the
00:28:08hour. Israel
00:28:12continues its chork hold on the amount of aid entering the Gaza
00:28:15strip. For more than million people in Gaza are
00:28:19facing emergency levels of food and security.
00:28:23Palestinians are facing death and destruction a daily basis number
00:28:26unending Israeli air
00:28:27strikes.
00:28:32to get their hands on
00:28:33food,
00:28:40at least 30 people, 28, more than two dozen palestinians 92
00:28:44people died of starvation, nearly half the dead are
00:28:48children, and the UN agency says that
00:28:51Gaza's children need food, water,
00:28:54medicine and protection, and above all they need sease
00:28:58fire.
00:29:13Sharp to the point, round table shuts out the noise
00:29:17and gives you the detail. John Kerry told round table, Poland
00:29:21has, we're here in Berlin, take a seat and listen to those who
00:29:25really know what's going on. War in Europe, distrust, our needs
00:29:29an argument, and there are very specific reasons why Trump is... gone after
00:29:33them, who's gonna blink first? confusing world, we're here to
00:29:37clear the blog, you'll understand exactly where you
00:29:40are, round table on TRT

00:30:32strike: the Israeli military is expanding its
00:30:36so-called yellow line in the east of Gaza City. Israeli
