00:00:15The stakes get higher over the US joining Saudi Arabia's war against
00:00:19Yemen based hoothies. Riyad suffers another deadly attack on the
00:00:23King Khalid international airport
00:00:27taking over more space and continuing their... on
00:00:30Palestinians, Israel continues its genocidal steps
00:00:34across
00:00:35of Gaza, and Pakistan imposes a state of
00:00:38emergency across its northern province where Imran Khan's party
00:00:42was in
00:00:43power.
00:00:56Hello, welcome to TRT World, live from Istanbul. With me, John
00:01:00Paul Davis. Now, the Saudi Led coalition in Yemen
00:01:04say that its forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile in the
00:01:08early hours of Monday. It had been fired by the
00:01:11asarulahutis towards the city of Kames Mushad.
00:01:15On Sunday, a projectile hit Riad's King Khalid International
00:01:19Airport, killing one person and wounding 11 more.
00:01:22Whilst on Saturday, 13 people were killed and more than
00:01:26300 inj injured when a projectile hit. the
00:01:30of same airport, will the hoothies have claimed responsibility for that
00:01:34strike? the group have also repeated a warning to airlines and
00:01:37travelers not to use Saudi airports.
00:01:40Basambini has more on this
00:01:42story. Saudi Arabia has
00:01:46been hit hard, deep inside its territory. there
00:01:50was panic inside the domestic terminals of king Khalid
00:01:53international airport in Riyad after it was track by
00:01:57a missile on Saturday afternoon. The Saudi led military
00:02:01coalition describes what happened as a war crime,
00:02:05vowing, decisive response. A
00:02:08projectile also landed near King Fahad International
00:02:12Airport in Damasmam. The Saudis blamed the
00:02:16Ansar Allah Hothies from
00:02:18of neighboring Yeman for the attacks. The UN
00:02:21of secretary general also pointed the finger at the
00:02:24group. Antonio Gutieresh demanded that
00:02:27the attack stop immediately. "the
00:02:31Iran-backed group said it carried out separate strikes on
00:02:35Riyadh's main airport on Thursday, killing three people and
00:02:39damaging an aircraft, but they haven't claimed
00:02:42responsibility for Saturday's strike. Hours
00:02:45before, the Hutis had said they were prepared
00:02:49to take reciprocal steps with Saudi Arabia to keep
00:02:53airports, seaports and other civilian facilities used for
00:02:57humanitarian purposes out
00:02:59of the..." expanding confrontation, the question now
00:03:03is whether or not the US will respond to Saudi calls to join
00:03:07in, i think it's
00:03:09terrible, well you're going to find out,
00:03:13of see, but i think it's terrible
00:03:16to defend themselv, well they're able to defend, look, the saudis
00:03:20are good fighters, but i think the attack was terrible
00:03:24thing, the his have already put pressure on Saudi
00:03:28Arabia through their control
00:03:29of the...
00:03:30Babel Mandab straight, through which much of Saudi Arabia's
00:03:34oil exports are shipped, but in the
00:03:38past week, the Yemani government forces, backed by
00:03:42Saudi Arabia, have made some progress in pushing
00:03:46back the Huti advance. They claimed on Saturday to have
00:03:50killed more than 1,400 Huti
00:03:53fighters in
00:03:55of 24 hours. The next move could determine
00:03:58not only the state of...
00:04:03of this conflict, but whether the region again becomes engaffed in
00:04:05war,
00:04:08world. well, the
00:04:10of Turkish foreign ministry has strongly condemned
00:04:13of Saturday's attack by
00:04:13of the Hutis on the King Khalid international airport in Riat. In a
00:04:17statement, the ministry said
00:04:19of this, these attacks, which deliberately target civilian
00:04:23infrastructure and innocent civilians constitute a clear
00:04:26violation of international law and the principles of
00:04:30international humanitarian law, we
00:04:32emphasize that such actions which pose a threat to
00:04:36regional security and stability and undermine the
00:04:39international community's collective efforts to establish peace must
00:04:43cease immediately, as tokia we reaffirm our
00:04:47support for Saudi Arabia sovereignty and territorial
00:04:51integrity, well Turkia, Pakistan, Egypt and Saudi
00:04:55Arabia also issued a joint statement on Sunday condemning the
00:04:59ongoing attacks. on Saudi soil, the four nations expressing
00:05:02their full support for all legitimate measures by Riad to
00:05:06counter these attacks, holding the hoothies responsible for
00:05:10any
00:05:10of repercussions. Iran's foreign minister
00:05:14Ababasachi has also spoken by phone with his Saudi
00:05:18counterpart Faizal bin Faran about the rising regional
00:05:22tensions. All right, she says there is no military solution to the crisis
00:05:26and that Tehran is ready to help facilitate dialogue
00:05:30between Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
00:05:34Well, Class Loris is professor of history and international Affairs
00:05:37at the University of North Carolina. And Klaus says that deal
00:05:41to end us Iran war could go some way to quell the
00:05:45hoothi attacks in Saudi Arabia?
00:05:49Iran clearly is in favor of ending the Iran American
00:05:53war, and I think that is would really bring a solution to the
00:05:57problem. you now, if there was some sort of cease fire, some sort of
00:06:01armistics organized between Israel, the United States and Iran which
00:06:04included the hootis, then I think all these attacks on Saudi
00:06:08Arabia would probably cease, and I think that is what Iran is...
00:06:12aiming for and the last resort, of course the hutis are
00:06:16ally of Iran, they are not acting independently,
00:06:20Iran may not be directing them, but they know very well what
00:06:24is going on, so the Iranian remarks which you just
00:06:27quoted are a little cynical, they know what it is all
00:06:31about, the United States has run out of ammunition, they
00:06:35have really had significant damage to
00:06:39their bases in the in the whole gulf region, but because
00:06:42their war with Iran and
00:06:46to support Saudi Arabia more
00:06:49actively will be very dangerous for the United
00:06:52States because the hoodis would of course respond, they would attack American ships
00:06:56and it would deplete American weapons even more, and there
00:07:00actually is an agreement between the United States and the hootis, so the
00:07:04hootis have said they will not attack American forces,
00:07:08American ships, if the United States does not attack the
00:07:11hootis. and so far that has actually been observed by both
00:07:15sides. the sort is in my view have only two options, that is the
00:07:19option to actually talk to the hoodis and try to negotiate some
00:07:23sort of armistice, and of course that would include that the sorry
00:07:27offensive in Yemen against the hooutis and it support the
00:07:31internationally recognized Jemmeny government would
00:07:34would stop, and or they have to push back
00:07:38militarily even more severely than they're trying to do at the moment
00:07:42and... both possibilities are
00:07:46not very promising right now, we're keeping our focus set
00:07:50in the middle east, Israeli forces have continued bombing the Gaza
00:07:53strip for on Sunday, killing at least four people, this as
00:07:57the Israeli military expands its so-called yellow line
00:08:01east of Gaza City, on Saturday attack on
00:08:05the Shijai area, injured two Palestinians which included a pregnant
00:08:09woman. Dozens of Palestinian families already... places have
00:08:12been again forced to flee, following advances by the Israeli
00:08:16military. many have described it as night of terror filled
00:08:20with heavy Israeli gufire and explosions, the UN saying that
00:08:24nearly two-thirds the enclave is inaccessible to
00:08:27Palestinians or subject to severe
00:08:30restrictions. residents of Gaza's
00:08:34al-zawada have inspected the remains here of a home following an
00:08:38Israeli air strike, they say that they were given just five minutes to
00:08:41evacuate. before bombs were dropped on the house on Saturday,
00:08:45Israel has stepped up strikes against Palestinians in Gaza
00:08:49undermining that US Broked ceasefire that was
00:08:52agreed a year ago. Zeinab Choudry
00:08:56is the national spokesperson and Maryland Director for the
00:09:00Council on American Islamic Relations.
00:09:04She says that there is a dangerous disconnect between the terms the
00:09:07ceasefire in Gaza and the reality facing Palestinians
00:09:11there. "the blanketed punity that the
00:09:15Israeli government has enjoyed from these United States and from other western
00:09:19powers that have enabled it to continue its expansion the
00:09:23yellow line is a gross violation the terms the
00:09:26negotiated seasfire uh and this is what we're seeing is a dangerous
00:09:30contradiction between the terms the cease fire and the reality of
00:09:34Palestinian's lived experiences. Obviously three years of genocide
00:09:38later, the so reality,
00:09:40the circumstances are horrific for palestine." on the ground, especially with winter
00:09:44approaching as we heard, um, beyond just the elements obviously,
00:09:48um, the agreement itself calls for military operations to be suspended,
00:09:52pending a staged withdraw, and expanding that military control and
00:09:56advancing that yellow line, it directly contradicts what the
00:09:59requirements are to freeze the battle lines, more and more people are starting to pay
00:10:03attention as there is increasing global pressure for the Israeli government to take
00:10:07action and for the Israeli people to speak up um Israeli
00:10:11prominent israeli human rights organizations like Betsalem have long documented
00:10:15Israel's illegal occupation of Palestine, burtal and humane treatment of
00:10:19Palestinians and specifically since October 7th,
00:10:22the impact the genocide on the Palestinian. and we
00:10:26see accounts here and there the impact of this growing
00:10:29awakeness amongst many Israelies who are starting to recognize the fact
00:10:33that their government is engaged in these horrific crimes
00:10:37and unfortunately there is obviously the continued crackdown uh
00:10:41on Israelis who are trying to speak up and who are trying to um hold their own
00:10:45government accountable, i think the elections are going to be very
00:10:49um a big turning point for the Israeli people and for the Israeli
00:10:52government, but right now especially with winter... um and the fact that
00:10:56the yellow line continues to be expanded illegally against the terms
00:11:00the agreed upon sees fired that was negotiated,
00:11:03unfortunately it continues to put Palestinians in
00:11:07very tenuous situation. Donald
00:11:10Trump says Russia and Ukraine have agreed to halt strikes on each other's
00:11:14energy infrastructure, the US president making the announcement on
00:11:18his truth social platform, without giving any further
00:11:21details, although interestingly it comes days after he struck.
00:11:57province, a stronghold of jailed former prime minister Imran
00:12:01Khan, the province is accused
00:12:03of failing to support
00:12:04the country's anti-terror policy, as cameron Yusuf now reports from
00:12:08Islamabad.
00:12:12The long running confrontation between Pakistan's federal government and the PTI
00:12:16led administration in has come to this.
00:12:20President Asif Ali signed the proclamation imposing emergency
00:12:23rule, suspend. the provincial government in imran khan's political
00:12:27stronghold, the government says a surge in terrorist attacks
00:12:31left it with little choice. according to the Pakistan Institute for
00:12:35conflict and security studies, September saw the highest number of
00:12:38deadly attacks in 12 years, as overall terror incidents
00:12:42surged 52% in the first nine months the
00:12:46year. The Northwestern province oftunkha and the
00:12:49southwestern province of Baluchistan are the worst affected. The
00:12:53government blames the out. Lord Pakistani Taliban and Balouch
00:12:57militants with the search. The federal government has accused the province of
00:13:01failing implement its counter terrorism policy. PTI has
00:13:04instead advocated talks with the Pakistani
00:13:07Taliban. So what are we supposed to do? Do you
00:13:11want to keep playing this game of yours again and again and make Pakistan completely helpless and
00:13:15utterly devastated? That will not happen. The law will follow its own course
00:13:19and every remedy will be pursued. God willing. I will not allow this to
00:13:22happen. And you also fully understand. You will not allow
00:13:26it to happen. Soon after the announcement, shipping containers
00:13:29blocked roads in Pishawar and Right police were deployed. The khibar
00:13:33Pakhton governor will now lead an 11 member council appointed by the
00:13:37federal government to run the province. The people of
00:13:41khibar Pakhtunkha welcome the presidential order imposing governor's rule in the
00:13:45province. They hope this will asure a new era of peace, development and prosperity
00:13:49will begin in the province. But Imran Khan's party called it a black
00:13:53day Pakistan. call on people across Pakistan to
00:13:57continue our resistance. We are a peaceful party.
00:14:00If even one, two, three or 4% of
00:14:04Pakistan's 250 million people come out and stand
00:14:08their streets and that intersections to express their
00:14:11discontant, this system will collapse. The move comes as
00:14:15PTI launches new protest campaign demanding the release of its
00:14:19chair leader. These shipping containers have been placed on roads
00:14:23across Islamabad to stop. is from entering the capital with
00:14:27khan's party losing control the only province it governed, the
00:14:31question now is whether PTI can still bring its supporters onto the
00:14:34streets, emergency rule has dramatically changed the
00:14:38political landscape in khibar paktunkwah, but after months of
00:14:41confrontation between the federal and provincial governments, few here will see
00:14:45it as a surprise. Kamran yus of TRT World,
00:14:49Islamabad and that is the
00:14:53news for now newsfeed. is up
00:14:55next,
00:15:11hello, i'm lara cul and this is new speed, your dose of what people are
00:15:15talking about
00:15:16online,
00:15:22this government must understand. People have the right to a
00:15:26home and they cannot evict people so vulture funds become
00:15:30rich without
00:15:31working.
00:15:37intensified following the death of Maria del karma nabaskal. the 87
00:15:41year old became the face of nation's housing crisis.
00:15:45after being evicted from the apartment she's lived in for over
00:15:49seven decades. investment firm had bought Maria's property
00:15:52and raised her monthly rent by a whopping
00:15:55230%. on september
00:15:5823rd she was carried out a stretcher as
00:16:02police confronted protesters trying to stop the eviction.
