00:00:16The Saudi Led coalition says it has intercepted and destroyed a
00:00:20of hoothy ballistic missile fired at the kingdom a mid continued attacks
00:00:24by the Iran back group. Hello, welcome to
00:00:28TRT World Live here from Istan. Bull, I'm John Paul Davis,
00:00:32also ahead on the program,
00:00:35of taking over more space and continuing their attacks on
00:00:38Palestinians, Israel continues its genocidal steps
00:00:42across
00:00:44in Gaza. The war in Ukraine takes an
00:00:47unexpected ceasefire turn with both
00:00:50of sides said to be ceasing all attacks on
00:00:56of of energy of infrastructure. And Pakistan imposes a state of emergency. across its
00:01:00northern province where Imran Khan's party was in
00:01:04power,
00:01:18but first this hour, the Saudi Led coalition in Yemen
00:01:22says its forces intercepted and destroyed a ballistic
00:01:26missile in the early hours of Monday, it had been far.
00:01:35on Sunday a projectile hit Riyad's king
00:01:37of Khalid international airport killing one person and wounding
00:01:4111 others, whilst on
00:01:43of Saturday 13 people were killed and more than 300
00:01:47injured when a projectile hit the same airport, well the
00:01:51of houthies have claimed responsibility for for that
00:01:54strike, the
00:01:55of group have also repeated a warning to airlines and travelers not
00:01:59to... use Saudi airports. Basim Burani has
00:02:03more now on this
00:02:05of story. Saudi Arabia has
00:02:09been hit hard, deep inside its territory. There
00:02:13was panic inside the domestic terminals of King Khalid international
00:02:17airport in Riyad after it was
00:02:20of track by a missile on Saturday afternoon. The Saudi led military
00:02:24coalition describes what happened as a war
00:02:28of crime vowing, decisive. response a
00:02:31projectile also landed near King Fahad International
00:02:35Airport in Damasmam, the Saudis blame the
00:02:39ans from neighboring Yeman for the
00:02:42attacks. The UN
00:02:43of secretary general also pointed the finger at the
00:02:47group. Antonio gutieres demanded that
00:02:51the attack stop
00:02:53of immediately. The iran bked group said it carried out separate
00:02:57strikes on Riyad's main airport on. Thursday, killing three
00:03:01people and damaging an aircraft, but they haven't claimed
00:03:05responsibility for Saturday's
00:03:08of strike. Hours before, the Hutis had said they
00:03:12were prepared to take
00:03:13of reciprocal steps with Saudi Arabia to keep airports,
00:03:17of seaports and other civilian
00:03:19of facilities of used for humanitarian purposes out
00:03:22of the expanding confrontation. The question now
00:03:26is whether or not the US will respond to Saudi calls.
00:03:32it's terrible,
00:03:34I well think you're going to find out, see, but I think it's
00:03:37terrible, are the saudis able to
00:03:40of defend themselves? Well, they're able to defend, look, the saudis are good
00:03:44fighters, but I think the attack was terrible
00:03:47thing. The Houthies have already put
00:03:50of pressure on Saudi Arabia
00:03:51of through their control
00:03:52of the Babel Mandabs trade, through which much of
00:03:56Saudi Arabia's oil exports are shipped.
00:04:01but in the past week, the Yemani government forces,
00:04:04backed by
00:04:05of Saudi Arabia, have made some progress in pushing back
00:04:09the Huthi
00:04:10a advance. They claimed on Saturday to have killed more
00:04:14than 1,400 Huti fighters in
00:04:1724 hours. The next move could
00:04:21determine not only the state of this conflict, but
00:04:25whether the region again becomes engaffed in
00:04:28war, but
00:04:35has been following the developments from the yemeny capital of
00:04:38sai. as conflict in yemen grows
00:04:41wider and become more violent, saudi arabia civil aviation
00:04:45authority said the mam's king fahed airport was attacked
00:04:49sunday evening with damage assessment underway. it
00:04:53also reported new attack on Riyadh King Khalid airport that caused
00:04:57injuries after earlier attack.
00:05:03of later on claimed responsibility saying they
00:05:07carried out four operations in 24 hours
00:05:11targeting riad and dammam. airports and aramco facilities
00:05:15in response to what he described 124 Saudi air
00:05:19strikes on Yemen, he won Saudi airports are
00:05:22unsafe except Makka and Madina and vote escalate
00:05:26until the sages lefted, according to his words.
00:05:30Meanwhile, as operations Done of Yemen continues, Yemen's
00:05:33government forces announced over
00:05:35a thousand precise strikes against Hothy fighters
00:05:39using warplays, drones and artillery. Neutral.
00:05:42hundreds of hothy fighters with advances
00:05:46ongoing. well, the Turkish foreign
00:05:50ministry has strongly condemned Saturday's attack by the hooties on the
00:05:53King Khalid international airport in Riad. a
00:05:57statement, the ministry said this, these attacks, which
00:06:01deliberately target civilian infrastructure and innocent civilians
00:06:04constitute a clear violation of international law
00:06:08and the principles of international humanitarian law.
00:06:13We emphasize that such actions which pose a threat to regional
00:06:16security and stability and undermine the international community
00:06:20collective efforts to establish peace must cease
00:06:24immediately, and the statement concludes by saying as
00:06:28tokia, we reaffirm our support for Saudi
00:06:32Arabia sovereignty and territorial
00:06:34integrity. Well Turkia, Pakistan,
00:06:37Egypt and Saudi Arabia also then issued a joint
00:06:41statement on Sunday condemning the ongoing attacks on Saudi
00:06:45soil, the four nations expressing their full support for all
00:06:49legitimate measures by Riyad to counter those attacks,
00:06:53holding the Houties responsible for any
00:06:56repercussions. Well, Iran's foreign
00:07:00minister Abasar Radhi has also spoken by phone
00:07:04with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Faran about the
00:07:08rising regional tensions. Radji says there is no military
00:07:12solution. to the crisis and that Tehran is ready to help
00:07:16facilitate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and
00:07:19Yemen, well Klaus Laris is professor of history and
00:07:23international affairs at the University of North Carolina, and Klaus says
00:07:27a deal to and the US-Iran war could
00:07:31go some way to quelling the Houti attacks in Saudi
00:07:34Arabia. Iran clearly is in
00:07:38favor of ending the Iran American war, and I
00:07:41think that... it would really bring a solution to the problem, you
00:07:45now, if there was some sort of cease fire, some sort of armistics organized
00:07:49between Israel, the United States and Iran, which included the
00:07:53Houtis, then I think all these attacks on Saudi Arabia would
00:07:57probably see, and I think that is what Iran is aiming for and the
00:08:00last resort, of course the Hutis are ally of Iran, they
00:08:04are not acting independently, Iran may not be
00:08:08directing them, but they know very well what is going on, so
00:08:12the Iranian remarks which you just quoted are a
00:08:16little cynical, they know what it is all about. the
00:08:19United States has run out of ammunition, they
00:08:22have really had significant damage to
00:08:26their bases in the in the whole gulf region because
00:08:30their war with Iran, and
00:08:33to support Saudi Arabia more
00:08:36actively will be very dangerous for the United States
00:08:40because the hootis would of course. they would attack American ships
00:08:44and it would deplete American weapons even more, and there actually
00:08:48is an agreement between the United States and the hootis, so the hootis
00:08:52have said they will not attack American forces, American
00:08:56ships if the United States does not attack the hooties,
00:08:59and so far that has actually been observed by both sides. The
00:09:03sort is in my view have only two options, that is the option to
00:09:07actually talk to the hooutis and try to negotiate some sort of
00:09:11Amestice, and now... of course that would include that the sorry
00:09:14offensive in Yemen against the hooutis and the support the
00:09:18internationally recognized Yemeny government would
00:09:22would stop and or they have to push back
00:09:25militarily even more severely than they're trying to do at the
00:09:29moment and both
00:09:31possibilities are not very promising right
00:09:34now all staying in the middle east
00:09:38Israeli forces have continued bombing the Gaza strip on
00:09:42Sunday. killing at least four people, this as the Israeli
00:09:45military expanded its so-called yellow line in the east
00:09:49of Gaza City, on Saturday attack on the Shijai
00:09:53area, injured two Palestinians including a pregnant
00:09:56woman, dozens of Palestinian families who are already
00:10:00displaced have once again now been forced to flee following
00:10:04advances by the Israeli military. Many described it
00:10:08as night of terror filled with heavy Israeli gunfire and
00:10:12explosions, the UN, saying that nearly two-thirds the enclave is
00:10:16inaccessible to Palestinians, or subject to
00:10:20severe restrictions. Well, residents of
00:10:23Gaza's. were inspecting the remains of a
00:10:27home there following an Israeli air strike, they said that
00:10:31they were given just five minutes to evacuate ahead of those
00:10:35bombs being dropped on the house on Saturday. Israel has
00:10:38stepped up strikes against Palestinians in Gaza, which
00:10:42completely undermines a US broker ceasefire that was
00:10:46agreed a year ago. Alzhein Chaldry is the
00:10:50national spokesperson and Maryland director for the council on
00:10:54American Islamic. relations, she says there is a
00:10:57dangerous disconnect between the terms the ceasefire in
00:11:01Gaza and the reality facing Palestinians
00:11:04there. The blanketed punity that the
00:11:08Israeli government has enjoyed from these United States and from other western
00:11:11powers that have enabled it to continue its expansion the
00:11:15yellow line, is a gross violation the terms the
00:11:19negotiated cease fire. And this is what we're seeing is a dangerous
00:11:23contradiction between the... the seasfire and the reality of
00:11:27Palestinian's lived experiences. Obviously three years of genocide
00:11:31later, the reality, the circumstances are horrific for
00:11:34Palestinians on the ground, especially with winter approaching as we
00:11:37heard, um, beyond just the elements obviously, the
00:11:41agreement itself calls for military operations to be suspended,
00:11:45pending a staged withdraw, and expanding that military
00:11:48control, and advancing that yellow line, it directly
00:11:51contradicts what the requirements are to freeze the battle lines. more and
00:11:55more people are starting to pay attention as there is increasing global pressure for
00:11:59the Israeli government to take action and for the Israeli people to speak
00:12:02up. Israeli, prominent Israeli human rights organizations like
00:12:06Betsalem have long documented Israel's illegal occupation of
00:12:09Palestine, burdle and humane treatment of Palestinians and specifically
00:12:13since October 7th, the impact the genocide on the Palestinian
00:12:17people. And we see accounts here and there the
00:12:21impact of this growing awakeness amongst many Israelies.
00:12:25are starting to recognize the fact that their government um is engaged in
00:12:28these horrific crimes and unfortunately there is obviously the
00:12:32continued crackdown uh on Israelis who are trying to speak up and who are
00:12:36trying to um hold their own government accountable. i think the elections are going
00:12:40to be very um a big turning point for the Israeli people and for
00:12:44the Israeli government um but right now especially with winter
00:12:47approaching um and the fact that the yellow line continues to be
00:12:50expanded illegally against the terms the agreed opponencies fired
00:12:54that was negotiated, unfortunately it continues to put
00:12:58Palestinians in very tenuous
00:13:01situation. Well, the Turkish Head of
00:13:04Communications, Berhane Duran has condemned Israeli
00:13:08defense minister Israels remarks targeting
00:13:11president
00:13:14and says the the comments reflect political
00:13:17desperation ahead of Israel's forthcoming
00:13:19elections. Baseless accusations against
00:13:23Turkey cannot conceal. the Israeli government's record of genocide in
00:13:27Gaza or its continued aggressive policies in our region,
00:13:31cuts explicit that threats against individuals involved in sece fire
00:13:35and peace negotiations are yet another manifestation the Israeli
00:13:39government's disregard for international law. Turkey will continue
00:13:43to defend the legitimate rights the Palestinian people, justice and
00:13:46lasting peace. The Israeli governments, threats, provocations and
00:13:50smart campaigns will not deter our country from its steadfast
00:13:54com. to upholding
00:13:56what is right and
00:13:57just
00:14:10Donald Trump says Russia and Ukraine have agreed
00:14:14to halt strikes on each other's energy infrastructure, well the
00:14:18US president made the announcement on his truth social
00:14:21platform, although gave no details and interesting.
00:14:25It comes just days after he struck deal with Russian President
00:14:29Vladimir to buy large quantities of
00:14:31diesel. Ukraine
00:14:43is ready to refrain from striking Russian energy facilitys
00:14:47and we expect Russia to show the same
00:14:49readiness.
00:14:55what kind of precedent it would set if Russia manages to
00:14:59retain the Ukrainian territory an eventual
00:15:02ceasefire? right now
00:15:05the the real estate issue is about
00:15:0820% of Dunetsk which
00:15:12is the Luhansklas these are like
00:15:16like provinces and it makes up the Dunbas
00:15:19and the Russian federation has been saying we want
00:15:23that remaining 20%. that we have not yet
00:15:26taken, Ukraine is saying, we're not giving you something
00:15:30that you haven't militarily taken,
00:15:34one proposal that's been around for now nearing the...
00:16:08President Trump is a day-to-day guy, he's not
00:16:12necessarily a week to week guy, a month to month guy,
00:16:15year to year guy, and so he's
00:16:18looking at
00:16:20the next two years, 12 o'clock, January 20th,
00:16:232029, his term finishes, between now
00:16:27and then he believes he is the most
00:16:30powerful individual on the planet, and that
00:16:34he can do what he wants, and eventually... people will come
00:16:38around to doing what he wants, but even if they don't
00:16:42do what he wants, he will declare victory and
00:16:46move to the next issue, and he
00:16:49has three tools, tariffs, sanctions
00:16:53and visa restrictions that are his go,
00:16:57it's sort of his go bag, it's his doctors bag, he opens them up and
00:17:00he's going to throw them out like doctor would throw out aspirin,
00:17:04and these countries all know this, so you've... got Russia
00:17:08and Ukraine looking, okay, how do we get through the next two
00:17:12years, and you have the European Union,
00:17:15NATO, the United Nations, regional
00:17:19actors, President Erdogan and Turkia, all trying to
00:17:23figure out, how do we get through the next two
00:17:26years with this guy, where the the midterm
00:17:30elections for our house and Senate and our US congress are
00:17:34November the 3rd, likely. the the
00:17:38Republican Party will lose the house, so the Democratic party take
00:17:42that, unsure the Senate, but President
00:17:45Trump is going to get more angry, because then
00:17:49in the US political discourse, they start talking about him as
00:17:53a lame duck, that's going to infuriate him, so he's going to keep
00:17:57doing more
00:17:57and more, and we're going to see things like this where he just makes announcements
00:18:01and then he's going to coerse everybody to go
00:18:04along, the $100 billion dollars if that is accurate
00:18:08number that he wants to give back to to Russia,
00:18:12um, there's 320 billion, that's a third of it, that money was
00:18:16seized to pay for the damages
00:18:20that you that Russia has done to Ukraine, and now President
00:18:23Trump is saying, we want to give a third of it back to him, so
00:18:27this is this is going to get increasingly ugly, even
00:18:31if eventually there is some sort of a
00:18:34ceasefire with respect to the military.
00:18:37the war Pakistan's president has
00:18:41declared a state of emergency and suspended the provincial government
00:18:45the northwestern Kaiba packa province
00:18:49stronghold of jailed former prime minister Imran
00:18:52khan reports now from
00:18:55Islamabad
00:19:00has come to this president Asif Ali signed the
00:19:03proclamation imposing emergency rule suspending the provincial.
00:19:07government in imran khan's political stronghold, the government says a
00:19:11surge in terrorist attacks left it with little choice. according
00:19:15to the Pakistan Institute for conflict and security studies
00:19:18September saw the highest number of deadly attacks in 12 years, as
00:19:22overall terror incidents surged 52% in the
00:19:26first nine months the year. The northwestern province
00:19:29oftunkwah and the southwestern province of
00:19:32Baluchistan are the worst affected. The government blames the
00:19:36outlawed Pakistan.
00:19:40The federal government has accused the province of failing implement its counter
00:19:44terrorism policy. PTI has instead advocated talks with the
00:19:48Pakistani taliban. So what are we supposed to
00:19:51do? Do
00:19:52you want to keep playing this game of yours again and again and make Pakistan completely helpless
00:19:56and utterly devastated? That will not happen. The law will follow its own
00:20:00course and every remedy will be pursued. Godwilling i will
00:20:03not allow this to happen and you also fully understand you will not.
00:20:07to happen soon after the announcement, shipping containers
00:20:11blocked roads in Pishaver and right police were deployed. the khaib
00:20:15pakhtunk governor will now lead an 11 member council appointed by the
00:20:19federal government to run the province. the people of
00:20:23khibar welcome the presidential order imposing governor's rule in the
00:20:27province. they hope this will asur a new era of peace, development and prosperity
00:20:31will begin
00:20:31in the province. but imran khan's party called it a black
00:20:34day. we call on people
00:20:50their streets and at intersections to express their
00:20:53discontent, this system will collapse. the move comes
00:20:57as PTI launches new protest campaign demanding the release of its
00:21:01jail leader. these shipping containers have been placed on roads
00:21:05across Islamabad to stop protesters from entering the capital with
00:21:09khan's party losing control the only province it governed. the
00:21:12question now is whether PTI can still bring its supporters onto the
00:21:16streets. emergency rule has dramatically changed. the
00:21:20political landscape, but after months of
00:21:23confrontation between the federal and provincial governments, few here will see
00:21:27it as a surprise. Kamran Yusuf, TRT World,
00:21:31Islamabad is the
00:21:35executive director at the Center for Research and Security Studies,
00:21:39well he explains how the government has justified emergency
00:21:43rule, this is the culmination
00:21:46the confrontation that had been going on between center, the
00:21:50military establishment and the Pakistan Tahrik
00:21:53Insaf ever since the removal of Imran
00:21:57Khan in April 2022 through
00:22:01vote of no confidence, so it was very much
00:22:05expected and the federal government as well as its
00:22:08allies had been basically warning against this, but
00:22:12the party and the particular chief minister of that province had been
00:22:16pursuing one point agenda and that was the release. of
00:22:20Imran khan or at least his transfer from
00:22:23JL Solity confinement to
00:22:26hospital the choice of Imran Khan and the
00:22:30party, but the talks also
00:22:34break down between the the PTI and other the federal government,
00:22:38precisely on this point, there was no confirmation, no commitment by the federal
00:22:42government as to whether it was ready to transfer Imran
00:22:46Khan to the hospital for treatment because his
00:22:50health is reportedly deteriorating
00:22:54and this, the the
00:22:58chief minister had been confined, basically had been conved that he should
00:23:01not come to Islamabad with the tens of thousands of
00:23:04people, so he did not relent
00:23:08and then we see the imposition the
00:23:11emergency, now the government has basically
00:23:14used the growing incidence of
00:23:17terrorism in the province. as a
00:23:20justification, obviously the the federal
00:23:24government has the upper hand, it has the authority, and
00:23:28whether now, although that authority was also contingent
00:23:31upon the approval the chief minister of that province
00:23:35for imposing emergency or governor's rule, but
00:23:39unfortunately that has happened and that is another
00:23:43indication the gradual regression
00:23:47of democracy and democratic institutions in...
00:23:51across the border in India, the cockroach protest movement leader
00:23:55Abijit Dipke has been released from detention with two other senior
00:23:59leaders, they were arrested over the weekend along with thousands of others
00:24:03who took to the streets calling for the resignation the country's
00:24:07election chief. now the protesters accuse him, the
00:24:11election chief of sideespping rules, regulations and making
00:24:14several changes to the voter registration process, well political
00:24:18commentators showed Ahmed Boyan says the controversy shows
00:24:22the government is unwilling to listen to India's younger
00:24:26generation. The immediate
00:24:30trigger the controversy over the India's special
00:24:33intense revision of electoral roles where
00:24:37130 million names have been cut from
00:24:40the
00:24:41in the name the voter verification and the
00:24:45protest erupt the crackdown on the protest by the Delhi
00:24:48Police rem'. does that how a government
00:24:52can become more authoritative where it cannot tolerate
00:24:56the protest anymore, is not ready to hear what
00:25:00the young generations and gens have in their
00:25:03mind. intensifying this kind of crackdown
00:25:07actually remind us lot of autocratic
00:25:10ruler, their behavior that has been happening around the world, especially
00:25:14the neighboring countries of India in last couple of years. it is the largest democracy in
00:25:18the world, over billion people, in terms of population, over billion
00:25:22people lives in India. now it's not
00:25:26just how democratic you think a country by its
00:25:30population, it has to be by its action as
00:25:33well. in last couple of years we have been looking at
00:25:37Narendra Modi's style of governance and how
00:25:41India is being branded in one religion,
00:25:44one almost like
00:25:45a ethn state where minorities attacks
00:25:49on. ities are highlighted, if you look at the last
00:25:53election in West Bengal of India, you have been seeing
00:25:57that the same strategy was implied
00:26:01and there was a position of the minority voters being
00:26:04removed to secure the ruling party
00:26:07BJP's
00:26:09anonymous universal victory
00:26:12there, many analys are now
00:26:16fearful that if Narendra Modi taken the same strategy
00:26:20and it just prolong its own
00:26:24Modi's rule over the India by making the voter list that
00:26:28only helps his party. At least 13
00:26:32people. died in aerial attack a gold mine in Sudan near the
00:26:36border where Egyptian forces have previously carried out attacks.
00:26:39Abdullah Hussein now has more from Sudan's
00:26:42capital. The Sudan doctors Network, the
00:26:46organization said it's also reporting dozens of casualties,
00:26:49but they also mentioned that the figures remained uh
00:26:52preliminary. Some workers and eyewitnesses have accused the
00:26:56Egyptian military of carrying out uh the reported
00:27:00strikes, but that has not been. independently verified yet,
00:27:04neither the Sudanese nor the Egyptian military has public
00:27:08publicly commented uh so far on the incident, what makes this uh
00:27:12particularly sensitive is that this is not the first
00:27:15reported uh incident in this area, similar strikes were
00:27:19reported in June, last June when Egyptian authorities said uh
00:27:23they were conducting security operations against illegal mining,
00:27:27smuggling and border crossings. Sudanese miners were also
00:27:31reported killed and injured. at that time and uh
00:27:34this is major livelihood issue in Sudan.
00:27:38artisanal mining uh supports more than 2 million people according
00:27:42to latest statistics and accounts for more than 80% the
00:27:46country's gold production with the war destroying other
00:27:49sources of income many Sudanese have turned to these
00:27:53remote mining areas to survive and
00:27:57that is the news for now headlines are
00:28:00next.
