00:00:23of Saudi Arabia vows a serious response after missiles
00:00:27hit Riyad's main airport twice
00:00:29of over.
00:00:30in weekend, in the attacks killed at least 14 and threatened to
00:00:33rais raise the stakes in
00:00:35of the wider
00:00:36of region. Iran's foreign minister is now

00:00:44of Donald Trump announced an energy sease fire deal has come into effect between
00:00:48Russia and

00:00:52president says it was all a surprise to him. The anger
00:00:56against India's
00:00:57of government is growing. The cockroach. movement is now being
00:01:01supported by the
00:01:03of of main opposition, they're getting ready to march on the Supreme
00:01:06of Court as protesters start to
00:01:08of gather again in the center
00:01:14of of in of the capital for a third of day, and in Pakistan, a state of emergency is in place, the provincial leader arrested in the northern stronghold a

00:01:42of Days of
00:01:43of attacks on Saudi Arabia's capital are shaking the kingdom and
00:01:47raising questions about what comes next for the region. The
00:01:51Saudi energy minister is describing the attacks by the Antserala
00:01:55Hutis from neighboring Yemen as being serious and needing
00:01:58of equally serious. response, the airport has been hit
00:02:02three
00:02:03a times in five days, killing 16 people.
00:02:06hundreds of Monday's flights
00:02:08of out of Riyad have already
00:02:09of been cancelled with damage assessments and
00:02:12of safety inspections underway. Iran's foreign minister has phoneed
00:02:16his saudi
00:02:17a counterpart to say Tehran is ready to help facilitate talks with the
00:02:21hooties. Abbas
00:02:23of a Arakchi stressed there's no military solution to this
00:02:27of crisis. of At the same time, Donald Trump is weighing up a US
00:02:30response and if it should launch attacks on the hooties
00:02:34long
00:02:35of allied with Iran. Basambini begins our
00:02:38coverage. Saudi Arabia's main
00:02:42international airport has come
00:02:44of under attack for the
00:02:45of third of time in 5
00:02:47of days. Authorities say a projectile struck
00:02:51terminal four 24 hours after Saturday's
00:02:58a of attack that killed 13
00:02:59of of people and injured more than 300. the Ansarullah Hies claimed
00:03:03a responsibility. The Yemani armed
00:03:07of forces carried out four qualitative operations in the past
00:03:1024 hours using ballistic and cruise
00:03:14missiles and drones. Fearing further
00:03:17of tacks, Saudi authorities moved schools online and closed
00:03:21the affected
00:03:23of airports. Live flight
00:03:28of in tracking data shows disruption to hundreds of flights around the capital. and in the eastern
00:03:31province, despite the
00:03:33of attacks, Saudi officials sought to project confidence as
00:03:38of energy ministers and industry leaders gathered in
00:03:41Riyadh for the 17th international energy forum
00:03:45meeting. Saudi resilience
00:03:49and foresite, I think by now
00:03:52people take it as
00:03:55of given. of of Saudi Arabia remained resilient, no one
00:03:59of can shake our. determination to sustain our
00:04:02a progress and fulfill our commitments.
00:04:05security concerns remain high across the region
00:04:09with turkey calling it clear violation of
00:04:13international law, joining the condonation of its
00:04:17partner in the mecca agreement. i
00:04:20believe that what the huties are doing in this regard is extremely
00:04:23of regrettable and no amount of condemnation is enough. Pakistan has
00:04:27repeatedly time and again including today, said that this campaign the
00:04:31hoothis are waging against the saudis has no
00:04:33of justification of whatsoever. Saudi state media has now
00:04:37reported that Iranian farm
00:04:40of of minister of of Abbas Arakshi offered riyad
00:04:42of assistance to facilitate talks with the hoothies. The other side
00:04:46of of the story is unfolding in
00:04:49of Yeman. Fierce clashes are escalating
00:04:52there. Hi run tv broadcast
00:04:56footage. It said showed fighters chasing Saudi back.
00:05:02of
00:05:05it of is another sign that with diplomacy
00:05:08stored,
00:05:10of the guns are still doing the talking, but
00:05:16And we'll be getting updates from our correspondents in the region. Ra
00:05:19Hatami standing by in Tehran, but we're going to start in
00:05:23Yemen's capital with Muhammad Al-Attab. Mohammed, what are
00:05:27we hearing from Huty leaders about these continuous
00:05:30attacks that we've seen on the main airport in Saudi
00:05:34Arabia?
00:05:40Yes, first the... reaction
00:05:44by the what has been mentioned by the hoti's military
00:05:47spokesperson yah says that they have um carried out
00:05:51these attacks in retaliation to what
00:05:55he described 124 air rates carried out
00:05:59by by Saudi Arabia he mentioned that they have
00:06:03attacked the king Khalid airports and also
00:06:07the King Fahad airport in themam and also they have
00:06:10targeted laboratory.
00:06:15for Ramco company also they have targeted what he
00:06:18mentioned the the gas station of Shackdam also he
00:06:22mentioned also operations what according to his words
00:06:25in in the in Yemen where they have
00:06:29attacked what what they described Saudi enemy
00:06:32mobilizations and
00:06:34particularly
00:06:36in alwaziah
00:06:37which is area where the internationally recognized government is
00:06:41trying to advance towards the Babel Mandab and they are trying
00:06:44also to recapture these important and
00:06:47strategic uh areas which are which could be described as the
00:06:51gate towards Babel mandab. The Houthies mentioned that they
00:06:55have targeted mobilizations towards these
00:06:59areas. They are still in these areas there are different areas the are
00:07:03that are still in the conflict between the internationally recognized government and the hoties
00:07:06we are talking about the misrah and also which are
00:07:10also the mountainous areas uh. overlooking the Babel but
00:07:14also overlooking the the the main road supplies for the
00:07:18both the hotis and also the internationally recognized government
00:07:21we are talking about the continuation the air raids the according
00:07:24to the military media outlets they mentioned that attacks have been
00:07:28carried out by by Saudi
00:07:31air air fighter jets that
00:07:34targeted residential area in near the san international
00:07:38airports and also they have mentioned also targeting
00:07:42ro in tas which is known named as the zi
00:07:45also targeting also areas in theher
00:07:49the the internationally recognized government spokesperson
00:07:53majd nuzeli mentioned that they have carried out nearly
00:07:561900 operations according to the
00:08:00his they are they have targeted command centers
00:08:03depots ammunitions and also supply lines
00:08:07uh so far with the continuation the the these
00:08:11first clutch. and also the escalation by both sides, we are
00:08:15witnessing a turning point, and dangerous turning point that
00:08:19continue to harm and danger and put civilians
00:08:22in danger. thank you so much for bringing us that update, mohammed
00:08:25alatab there in sana.
00:08:29we joined now by Raza Hatami in Tehran, and Razza, we're
00:08:33hearing that Iran's foreign minister has been speaking to his Saudi counterpart
00:08:37saying that Tehran is willing to facilitate any sort
00:08:41of dialogue. between Riyad and Sannah, what more do we
00:08:45know?
00:08:48yes, yashnit, despite height and tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the
00:08:52two countries continued diplomatic contact at the highest level.
00:08:56Iran's foreign minister Abbas Arachchi had a phone conversation with his Saudi
00:09:00counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, he said that the
00:09:04war in Yemen, the situation between
00:09:07Yemen and Saudi Arabia at the moment doesn't have a military
00:09:11solution and Iranian top diplomat called for diplomatic
00:09:15solution to end the war, to settle the
00:09:18conflict between the two neighboring countries, adding that
00:09:22Tehran is ready to facilitate talks,
00:09:25facilitate negotiations between the warring parties. this
00:09:29stance was reiterated in today's
00:09:33weekly press conference by Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Ismail
00:09:37Baqayi saying that Iran wants an end of war in the
00:09:41Arabian pen. saying that this war only serves
00:09:45Israely interests as two muslim countries are at
00:09:49war, but Iran is also critical the Saudi blockade
00:09:53of Yemen. Iran says that the Saudi blockade shouldn't have been
00:09:57in place in the first place, and
00:10:00also Iran says that the Saudi attack on
00:10:04Sana airport in July of this year
00:10:07escalated and accelerated this conflict.
00:10:11Iran stands. is that for Yemeni waring parties
00:10:15to return to a 2022 UN backed uh
00:10:19road map for peace, Iran has said that
00:10:23yemeny talks should take place and both
00:10:27warring factions of Yemen should return to that
00:10:302022 road map and and Iran supports that
00:10:34top of that Iran also supports talks between Saudi Arabia
00:10:38and Huties and of course when it comes to talks, Iran
00:10:41is still trying to bring about some sort of deal between itself and the United
00:10:45States as the war there continues, but we have heard from Iran's
00:10:49security chief saying that Washington has accepted
00:10:53seven conditions for deal to end the war, but he says that
00:10:57is still not
00:10:58enough.
00:11:02Well, Iran says that the United States should accept all of its seven
00:11:06demands, among them granting sanctions wavers for Iran's
00:11:09oil and petrol chemical products, release of billions of
00:11:13dollars in Iranian assets, a broad end of a
00:11:17US naval blockade and end of Israel attacks on Lebanon are
00:11:21among those five Iranian demands. Iran's top security chief mo he
00:11:25said that the United States has accepted some these demands without
00:11:29specifying which ones, but he also said that the United States has been
00:11:33ambiguous about some others of Iranian demands
00:11:36and he called on the United States to be transparent
00:11:40about it stance on all of Iran's seven
00:11:44demands. Iranian stance is that unless the United State,
00:11:48the United States accepts all of Iranian demands, all
00:11:52of Iranian preconditions, there will be No more
00:11:55negotiations, again this stance was reiterated by Ismail
00:11:58Baqayi, the Iranian foreign ministry
00:12:02spokesperson at his monday's weekly press
00:12:05conference. Iran also says that
00:12:07it is in firm control the straight of Formus. Iranian
00:12:11state media report that at least three vessels have
00:12:14hit naval mines in the straight of Formus. Iranian
00:12:18IRGC says that any ship that turns off its GPS,
00:12:22turns off its navigation system will be as hostile
00:12:26and could be attacked by Iran, so
00:12:29Iranians are insisting that they are in
00:12:33control the state of hormos and they are warning that if the United States attacks
00:12:37Iran again, this time around the Iranian response will be
00:12:41broader and wider. Okay, thank you so much,
00:12:45Rezami there for us in Iran's capital, we
00:12:49can get analysis on this now with Moham Guda, he is a middle east
00:12:52analyst and a professor of Middle East
00:12:57It's always good to speak to you on the news hour,
00:13:00so firstly Iran's offer to mediate, to
00:13:04facilitate talks between Saudi Arabia and the ansara
00:13:07hutis, this really is quite something given the geopolitical
00:13:11situation we see right now, and of course those extremely
00:13:15tense relations between Iran and Saudi
00:13:18Arabia, absolutely,
00:13:22actually Iran is trying to send several message. "at the
00:13:25same time, Iran is trying to seeing this as diplomatic
00:13:28opportunity to show itself as the
00:13:32entity that wants regional stability in the region, also it wants
00:13:36to reduce pressure on itself, it wants to send also
00:13:39some images and some messages to the US
00:13:43voter, to the American voter that Iran is a peaceful country, Iran
00:13:47wants more peace and wants to stop the war, and but still as you
00:13:51mentioned there is definitely a credibility problem here when it comes to..."
00:13:55'Iran's relationship with Saudi Arabia, I think it will be very hard for Saudi
00:13:59Arabia to accept this offer, at least explicitly, I think it will
00:14:03be very hard for Saudi Arabia to take this offer for now, if
00:14:06Riya does accept that offer, even if it is maybe not
00:14:10publicly, does that play well then into Tehran's
00:14:14call for its Gulf neighbors to solve problems
00:14:18among each other rather than reaching out to foreign
00:14:22powers to resolve issues in the region?'
00:14:26Of course, but to be honest with you, at the same time I think
00:14:30the Saudi leadership, I think it will be very hard for them to
00:14:34accept this offer, because explicitly saying it, the image
00:14:38of Saudi suddenly kneeling down and
00:14:42and with this kind of attacks suddenly going and throwing itself to the hands of
00:14:46Iran, I think this is an image that the Saudi leadership doesn't
00:14:49want to do at least explicitly, but if we agree
00:14:53that maybe it can happen and the curtains definitely this will be
00:14:57something that will be working with
00:15:00the with the Americans by all means so it will be under the control
00:15:04the US, maybe in that case maybe there will be some
00:15:08good news, maybe there will be some silver linings for the whole region at the end the
00:15:11day, however I think the possibility is quite quite small to be
00:15:15honest with you, but of course we have to wait and see,
00:15:19but as far as and I will mention this quickly as far as
00:15:23I have been noticing and and seeing the news about the
00:15:26current conference the the energy in Saudi
00:15:30Arabia, the messages is coming that Saudi is resilient, they are
00:15:33willing to go to proceed with whatever they want to do, so I think the... which
00:15:37is so far is against what Iran wants to
00:15:41argue, when it comes to the fighting that's taking
00:15:45place in Yemen itself, the Hithis, of course we know they are
00:15:48supported by Iran, but Tehran's leaders have said they aren't telling
00:15:52the Huti leadership what to do, but how big of
00:15:56influence does Teran actually have on SNA at this
00:15:59point and leverage when it comes to how the Hutis play this
00:16:03out both diplomatically and militarily.
00:16:08well to be honest
00:16:09with you, it's also something that was much expected, mean
00:16:12everybody was expecting that Iran will use its regional
00:16:16cronies all over the region with its current
00:16:20escalation between US, Iran and so on, so it they waited
00:16:24for a long time the hoouties to start their
00:16:26escalation and it's notic noticeable why they
00:16:30waited so much time, because with the kind kind of weapons that they
00:16:33have and the kind of missiles they have, this is definitely some
00:16:37think that that that's shaking I think many their
00:16:41ideas about what hot is are capable of, so this is why I
00:16:45think Saudis and even the regional powers in the region, some them
00:16:49were surprised by the abilities of hootis, Iran is trying to say that they
00:16:53are not controlings, well this might be the case, but still it's the same
00:16:56ideology, same dogma, same goals, so it doesn't have to be
00:17:00a direct line, but they share almost the same same
00:17:04goals, they have the same goals actually, so I don't think
00:17:08they are, they are a very different situation
00:17:12between themselves, you think they're working in Kohots at
00:17:14least. Professor Good, it's always good to speak to you and get
00:17:18your thoughts. Thanks so much for your time. My
00:17:22pleasure, thank
00:17:23you.
00:17:30President Voladimir Zelensky says Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy
00:17:34facilities despite a truce announced by the US president. Donald
00:17:38Trump, Trump said Moscow and Keve had agreed to stop targeting each other's
00:17:42energy infrastructure. He announced the deal on social media,
00:17:45but didn't share any further details. It comes days after Trump struck
00:17:49deal with the Russian president Vladimir Putin to buy large
00:17:53quantities of
00:17:54diesel.
00:18:01Okay, these are live pictures that we're getting from Warsaw or rather from
00:18:05Keeve, Poland with... "the Ukrainian president
00:18:09is speaking and he's been talking about this
00:18:13energy deal that Donald Trump had put out on social
00:18:16media just on Sunday and Zelensky saying they are waiting
00:18:20for details the conversation between the Americans and the
00:18:24Russians saying that this energy cease fire can
00:18:28work, but Zelensky has also said that Russia has
00:18:31committed violations the energy ceasefire, that was just over the
00:18:35weekend after President..." Trump announced it uh,
00:18:39but the Ukraine's president says his country is ready to respect an
00:18:43energy ceasefire, only if Russia does the
00:18:47same, and says that if Russia wants Ukraine to stop the
00:18:51attacks its refineries, it must also stop attacking
00:18:54Ukraine's energy
00:18:56infrastructure. Okay,
00:19:00we'll get more on the story, now correspondent standing by Dasha
00:19:03Chenashover is in Moscow, but we're going to start with Peter.
00:19:08in Kieve and Peter, I've just been reading out some the latest comments
00:19:12there that we are getting from President Zelensky quite similar
00:19:16to what we heard from him earlier on, saying Ukraine
00:19:19is willing to give this energy cease fire a go, but only if
00:19:23Russia does the
00:19:24same,
00:19:29yeah, absolutely, this is this is nothing new, actually, this is actually been Zelensky's
00:19:33position for some time now, the Ukrainians have prov
00:19:36proposed. energy seasfire a number of
00:19:39occasions in recent months, but now uh trump
00:19:43with Trump increasing the pressure on Ukraine in recent
00:19:47days regarding
00:19:48their attacks on Russia's energy system, the issue of a
00:19:52bilateral of a mutual seas far is again on the
00:19:55agenda and Zelensky's been very very unambiguous
00:19:59about this, he said openly yes we're ready to do this like immediately, we can begin
00:20:03this cefire at this at this exact moment
00:20:07but needs to be, it needs to be mutual, it needs to be bilateral. Ukraine
00:20:10can't simply stop defending itself as they see it,
00:20:14with these attacks on Russia's refineries, it needs to be mutual and Ukraine needs
00:20:18to receive assurances from the Russian side that the Russian attacks on
00:20:22Ukraine's civilian power system and civilian infrastructure
00:20:26in general will will stop, and these attacks that we've seen in recent days also
00:20:30on Ukraine's residential districts on the civilian
00:20:33population. Thanks very much, Peter Dickinson there in
00:20:36Ukraine's. capital to moscow, now we can speak to
00:20:40Dasha, Dasha, we're getting plenty of reaction from the
00:20:44Ukrainian leader, but has the criminan
00:20:46sanything?
00:20:50Well the Kremlin is yet to comment on this proposal by the US
00:20:54president, but given the previous statements that we have been receiving from the
00:20:58Russian officials, it's quite unlikely that Moscow would agree to any sort the
00:21:01cease fire because they consider those cease fire es energy true or
00:21:05the cease fire for the holding the elections in Ukraine as the band
00:21:09eight solution which is going to give time to Ukraine uh in terms
00:21:13of regrouping, rearming and remobilizing something that Moscow
00:21:17says it cannot afford at this stage so... Russian side has
00:21:20been saying that they remain open for the negotiations, even
00:21:24in light the statements coming from Ukraine
00:21:28following the diesel deal between Russia and the United States and also
00:21:32been hearin in Moscow some the warnings that the European
00:21:36countries that have all been quite openly against this diesel deal
00:21:40uh they may be pushing Ukraine to commit provocations
00:21:43um in this conflict so that the diesel deal between Russia and
00:21:47the US is derailed but otherwise there are... lots of statements coming
00:21:51from the Russian analytical community, they have been saying that
00:21:55perhaps one the prerequisites for the energy
00:21:59cease fire might have been Russia uh seeing some
00:22:02easing the energy sanctions and that is actually
00:22:06something that we are seeing now with the US uh actually
00:22:10given the waver to purchase the Russian diesel
00:22:14products and diesel and Russia vowing to remove the ban
00:22:18on the expert its diesel products. earlier than planned as well,
00:22:22so in that sense they say they choice may be different from the
00:22:25Russian side these time, however we've seen before, the US
00:22:29announcing that sease fire in terms the energy infrastructure, and
00:22:33Moscow has not agreed to that, because obviously everyone understands that
00:22:37Russia is heating the Ukrainian energy infrastructure and the winter
00:22:41is coming, so Russia is saying that they are repairing their all
00:22:45refineries, well there is more pressure put on Ukraine in terms
00:22:48the Russian attacks. on the Ukrainian energy facilities. Thanks for bringing
00:22:52us reaction there. Dusha
00:22:54Chen shova in Moscow. Well, since 2022,
00:22:58Ukraine has been targeting Russia's energy infrastructure to deprive
00:23:02Moscow of resources to fund its military. It's long
00:23:06range drone attacks on Russian oil refineries have intensified over
00:23:10the past 18 months. Ukraine's strikes aim to disrupt one
00:23:14of Russia's key sources of revenue its oil industry.
00:23:17Now in June this year Russian. refinery output fell to
00:23:213.8 million barrels per day its lowest level in
00:23:25more than 20 years and around 30% below the same
00:23:29period just year earlier. with 32 major
00:23:32refineries and roughly 6.5 million barrels per day,
00:23:36Russia has historically been the world's third largest producer of
00:23:40refined oil products like gasoline, diesel and jet
00:23:43fuel, but now with supplies under pressure, Moscow has moved to
00:23:47restrict fuel exports in an effort to protect its
00:23:51domestic market. In the first eight months of this year,
00:23:54average, a Russian refinery has been hit once every
00:23:583 days. These refineries closer to Ukraine have been
00:24:01attacked repeatedly, but some reportedly struck as many as 15
00:24:05times since the start the war. Well, let's
00:24:09get more on this now with economist Cornelia Mayor and energy
00:24:13expert and the CEO of Mayor Resources. She's in
00:24:17Burn, Switzerland. Thank you so much for. joining
00:24:20us, so we've just been talking about
00:24:24Russia, its oil supplies, diesel, since this war started,
00:24:28it seems to have taken a really big hit, but in real world
00:24:32market perspective, how much of an impact
00:24:35has have the Ukrainian strikes had on Russia's
00:24:39oil refineries? good morning and thank
00:24:43you very much for having me, well it has had an
00:24:46impact, maybe not as big as -
00:24:50as as we thought, but it has had an impact, the world is really
00:24:54running extremely low on diesel and that is
00:24:58important because right now in the northern hemisphere we
00:25:02are in the harvesting season and the and
00:25:06diesel and and agricultural
00:25:09equipment runs on diesel, so this
00:25:12is countries are feeling this, especially in Europe
00:25:16countries are feeling it about more than...
00:25:20percent of diesel is imported from from
00:25:23America, what we are lacking is
00:25:26the the diesel from the efficient refineries on the
00:25:29other side of hormous and also some the jet
00:25:33fuel, gasoline, diesel from the Asian
00:25:36efficient refineries who because the Iran war
00:25:40do not get enough rude supplies to really refine
00:25:44sufficient, so the world is really running
00:25:48very, very low on diesel.
00:25:55would that Russia would release more diesel for the United
00:25:58States, how will that impact this
00:26:02uh? "this problem that you've just outlined there for Europe and so much the
00:26:06world, will things start to get better?
00:26:09well, I think the deal is that Russia will export to
00:26:13the US, but maybe also to other countries, and what happens
00:26:17if is if there is more diesel in the US,
00:26:20um, the obviously prices will come down, and that's important for Donald
00:26:24Trump's mid-term elections, but also you know,
00:26:28there there was the talk of a diesel export
00:26:31ban'. from Russia
00:26:33to, which would have been
00:26:37very bad for Europe, which where I said, more than 50%
00:26:41the diesel, about 420,000 barrels a day in
00:26:44September are coming from from from the
00:26:48U.S., and Latin America gets about 600 thous to
00:26:52700 thousand barrels a day, so
00:26:55so any relief is is a good
00:26:59thing, the issue is just, what will it do to? the
00:27:02Russia Ukraine conflict and clearly um
00:27:06clearly the uh the western governments are not very
00:27:10keen on the steel, they were keen a
00:27:13a cease
00:27:14fire on an energy ceasefire, but that seems not to be
00:27:18happening. If that cease fire though, and of course I am being
00:27:21optimistic here, if that cease fire with regards to energy was to go
00:27:25ahead, how quickly can Russia get back to its
00:27:29refining capacity where we could see levels? that they had
00:27:33before the war started, it will take
00:27:36time be, they will get there, but it will take time,
00:27:40because you still have sanctions and some things cannot be
00:27:43imported, so you know some things it takes to restore the
00:27:47refineries cannot be importted, so it will take more time,
00:27:51but they'll certainly work on it as hard as they can.
00:27:55cornelia mayor, really good to get your take, thanks so much for speaking to
00:27:58us, thank you very much indeed, it's time
00:28:02now. see what's happening in the world of business. Taibe Iden, we
00:28:06were just talking gas and oil, that's of course leading your bulletin as
00:28:10well. That's right, oil prices are now easing following that diesel
00:28:13deal that Trump announced, which you've been covering, which has helped uh
00:28:17alleviate some supply concerns. Let's take closer
00:28:20look.
00:28:28Oil prices fell on Monday as expectations of additional Russian diesel.
00:28:32supplies east concerns about global fuel shortages, but renewed
00:28:36attacks in the Middle East continue to threaten energy supplies and to keep
00:28:40investors cautious. International Benchmark Brent fell towards
00:28:44$104 a barrel after two-day rally, as US
00:28:47president Donald Trump said his administration had reached an agreement
00:28:51for Russia to provide hundreds of thousands of tons of diesel fuel. He
00:28:55also claimed Russia and Ukraine had agreed to immediate ceasefire
00:28:59attacks against energy infrastructure, the details remain
00:29:03unclear. On Sunday, Saudi Arabia's main airport was targeted
00:29:07again while another tanker was attacked in the street of Ramus,
00:29:11although crude exports from the Persian gulf continue to flow at
00:29:15rates close to pre-war levels. That also weighed on stock
00:29:19markets across Asia with South Korea's cost beat plunging more than 3 and a
00:29:22half percent. Meanwhile, the US dollar held near its strongest
00:29:26level a year and a half as escalating Middle East
00:29:30conflict kept investors worry. head of key US
00:29:33inflation data later this week that could influence monetary
00:29:37policy. Francesco Sassi is a professor of energy politics
00:29:41at the University of Oslo. He says Russian diesel could provide some
00:29:45relief to global markets, but much will depend on whether Moscow
00:29:49can export it without further
00:29:51restrictions. Let me say that
00:29:55Russia anticipated dedicting the embargo
00:29:58on fuel export because the agreement.
00:30:02with us, so I think and it's
00:30:06logible to expect that Russia demanded guarantees
00:30:10and safety guarantees from the US in order to be able to
00:30:13export this pisal fuel not just to the
00:30:17US but to the global markets, this is what Donald
00:30:21Trump has asserted, and at the same time you had
00:30:24seeking sanctions or
00:30:27Russian refined products import
00:30:31next April, so... "we are speaking about thick
00:30:34month window that could really shift
00:30:38the related between r and rus the war in
00:30:42ukraine and the very
00:30:45lightly possibility that ukraine continue to stripe
00:30:49against russian energy infrastructure because the
00:30:52sensitivity for the
00:30:56russian war chast
00:30:59during you but also because it global.
00:31:02oil prices are will continue to stay very high
00:31:06because of war around the straight of am moves
00:31:10between the US and Iran and there is incentive
00:31:14for. Ukraine to continue these strikes also because
00:31:17Russia has not stopped striking against the
00:31:21Ukrainian energy
00:31:23infrastructure. Now a quick look at some other
00:31:27stories we're following around the world. Global wheat prices fell for
00:31:31fourth straight day after US president Donald Trump said Russia and Ukraine had
00:31:34agreed to immediate energy cease fire. The move raised hopes that black
00:31:38sea shipping disruptions could ease helping grain supplies
00:31:42flow more freely. Ukrainian president. Vladimir Zelensky says
00:31:46Kief supports the truth, though traders are still waiting for
00:31:49confirmation from Moscow. The
00:31:53IMF says strong spending on AI infrastructure is helping keep
00:31:57global growth at around 3%. Asian economies that
00:32:00supply chips and other technology are seeing some the biggest
00:32:04gains, but the fund warns AI could also reshape around
00:32:0840% of jobs over time. It says governments will
00:32:12need to manage the shift carefully so...
00:32:15the benefits of AI are shared more
00:32:17widely, and Elon Musk says
00:32:20Starlink will be priced affordably in India as it prepares to compete
00:32:24with Billionaire Mike Shambani's low-cost reliance
00:32:28Goo. His comments come just stays before Jio's
00:32:32parent company launches India's largest ever IPO,
00:32:35targeting valuation of $106 billion dollars.
00:32:39Musk has accused the Indian government of delaying Starling's entry to
00:32:43favor reliance. New Delhi
00:32:46tonight those updates to some other
00:32:50news now and Israeli forces have launched a drone attack on
00:32:53refugee camp in the south of Gaza killing two
00:32:57Palestinians. Paramedics say several people were wounded
00:33:00which is in the attack which struck the area near the city of
00:33:04Raffa. Thousands of Palestinians displaced by Israel's assault
00:33:08on the enclave have been forced to live in tents in
00:33:10almawasi. Israel's military.
00:33:15has been continuing to expand its so-called yellow line in the east of Gaza
00:33:18City, the line divides the enclave into two zones, an eastern
00:33:22area under Israeli military oversight and a western area where
00:33:26Palestinians can move with fewer restrictions. Military vehicles
00:33:30advanced beyond their existing positions in the shujaya neighborhood
00:33:33under cover of heavy gunfire and shelling. The UN says nearly
00:33:37two-thirds the strip is inaccessible to Palestinians or
00:33:41subject to severe restrictions.
00:33:47and israely and Israeli
00:33:51settlers have stormed the acsamos compound in occupied east
00:33:55Jerusalem, they enter the courtyard of al-Aqsa and performed prayers
00:33:58and rituals in front the dome the rock mosque. The compound
00:34:02and its surrounding areas are holy sites to Muslims and there have been increasing
00:34:06incursions by illegal settlers and far right activists in recent
00:34:10weeks.
00:34:15Palestinian farmers in the occupied west bank are vowing to defend their
00:34:18land from illegal Israeli settlers who stole half their harvest
00:34:22and some farming equipment on Sunday. The farmers in Aina
00:34:26Brut tried to harvest their olives but only managed to fill 15
00:34:29bags before being pushed back by Israeli forces who fired
00:34:33stun grenades. Muhammad Alwan has the
00:34:35story. It's their land, their
00:34:39farms and their olives. Yet the Palestinian farmers
00:34:43face a brutal battle. every autumn to access
00:34:46them under the shadow of Israeli guns and illegal
00:34:50occupation. Together, the residence of Anya Brude village in
00:34:54the occupied West bank set out on Sunday to harvest their olive
00:34:57trees, keeping alive a tradition known as
00:35:01Alona, where people help each other pick
00:35:04the crop. Another reason for this unity is to protect their
00:35:08land from illegal Israeli settlers who have taken
00:35:11over large areas. Israel has declared the area a military
00:35:15zone, preventing Palestinians from accessing their own
00:35:18land, for this land owner, even trying to access
00:35:22his property could lead to arrest,
00:35:25he has chosen not to show his face feeling
00:35:28detention. We have come to harvest
00:35:32our own olives, these are our village trees inherited from our fathers
00:35:36and grandfathers. Thank God, our spirits are high because we are
00:35:40standing on our own land, we are not here
00:35:42to steal or harm anyone, they are the ones coming. stealing our
00:35:47to harvest. us residents had been on their land for just an hour when illegal settlers
00:35:51attacked. minutes later Israeli forces arrived. the
00:35:55head the village council could only watch as residents were forced
00:35:58to leave for their own safety. illegal
00:36:02settlers ramped the village council's vehicle forcing it
00:36:06off the road, attacked residents and tried to run people
00:36:10over. they
00:36:11then trave stones at olive pickers from higher ground.
00:36:15Israeli forces fired stunt grenades at the
00:36:18Palestinians, illegal settlers were seen catting away
00:36:22the stolen olive harvest and heading towards the top the
00:36:26mountain, they had previous taken over. The
00:36:29Palestinians have been forced to leave, but they remained determined to
00:36:33return and harvest their olives. What happened here reflects a
00:36:37wider pattern across the occupied West Bank, where illegal settler violence
00:36:41continues escalate. Across the occupied West
00:36:44Bank, more than 10 attacks are reported daily with illegal
00:36:48settler stealing olive harvests in front their owners and
00:36:52using equipment to speed up the process. According
00:36:56to the agriculture. ministry, losses to palestinian's olive
00:37:00sector have exceeded $157
00:37:03million since 2023, with around
00:37:07286, olive trees damaged in the
00:37:11west bank, the ministry fears these losses to rise
00:37:14as the harvest continues,
00:37:18muhammad world, ramallah, the occupied west bank
00:37:21economic devastation and
00:37:25continued israely attacks have. many residents displaced
00:37:29from southern Lebanon, that's despite a supposed truth between the two
00:37:33countries, but in one village residents are taking matters into their
00:37:36own hands, setting up a market to help local vendors and
00:37:40revive the spirit the community. Priyanka Navani reports
00:37:44in southern
00:37:48Lebanon, war, destruction and losses of monumental
00:37:52proportion have given people every reason to live in
00:37:55agony, but at this newly inaugural. Saturday market in the
00:37:58southern village of karsir, agony is opposite to the
00:38:02spirit
00:38:03in the air. Instead, people have come from near and far to enjoy
00:38:06fresh food and other local products. Today I
00:38:10came to support my hometown in my region, we want to contribute to the
00:38:14success of this beautiful market. Initiatives like these give us
00:38:18hope and optimism, especially given the current
00:38:21circumstances. The initiative, which brings together dozens of vendors from
00:38:25across the region, is only in its second. in week, but already
00:38:29authorities say it's having massive success. we make this
00:38:32market and we
00:38:36hear from people, it's very
00:38:39good idea and
00:38:42excellent markets for all the people and for
00:38:46first and for the area. markets used to be
00:38:49common in the south, but the war has made large swaths the area a
00:38:53nogo zone. they're also especially helpful because so many...
00:38:57traditional stores are still closed, the reason the market is
00:39:01here because the surrounding town is insecure so the
00:39:05people cannot go over there plus the expenses of
00:39:09gas prices and so on, so we felt this an opportunity for
00:39:13the tow and in the different town, the surrounding town to come and display
00:39:16their product, people save money and uh
00:39:20basically bring some happiness, you know, bring the
00:39:23life again to the town, 85-year old...
00:39:27Hussain who hails from a now Israeli occupied border
00:39:30village, says it's the first profit he's turned in
00:39:34months, thank god I used to live very
00:39:37comfortably, but now we've gone back to zero, completely
00:39:41zero, at my age, 85 years old, I'm exhausted, I have
00:39:45to go out, work and sell things like this, I'm sorry, but I have
00:39:49no choice, what else can I do, and most say it's
00:39:52not just about money, but perseverance, clearly something that
00:39:56in. is passed down through
00:39:59generations. I'm 14 years old. I saw
00:40:03carrots, faba bins, corn on the car. I'm a son of this
00:40:06village, because this is village that has been through lot. My father
00:40:10stayed here and I'm staying here too. The joy being experienced at
00:40:14this market doesn't negate the continued harsh realities of
00:40:17people here. Some 170 homes in
00:40:21Kafodicier have been bombed, and this village hosts
00:40:25some 100 families who have not yet. been able to return to their
00:40:28own villages, still people are
00:40:31resilient and are determined to continue building their
00:40:35lives back through initiatives just like this one. Priyanka

00:40:49A state of emergency was declared in parts of Pakistan on
00:40:52Sunday, as thousands continue to protest in support of
00:40:56jailed form Prime Minister Imran Khan demonstrators
00:41:00took to the streets in Kaiba Pactungua, northwestern province
00:41:04governed by Imran Khan's PTI party. The government's
00:41:08decision to impose a state of emergency brings the province
00:41:11under direct federal control. Prime Minister Shebbaz Shariff
00:41:15accused the local PTI government of failing to maintain law
00:41:19and order. Let's get an update now from Kamran Yusuf joining us from
00:41:23Islamabad. So Kamran from the demonstrations people. there
00:41:27are clearly angry about this move, just bring us up to speed with what's
00:41:31happening at the moment, well
00:41:35indeed
00:41:35of course Pakistan tariq insaf a party of former prime minister Imran
00:41:39Khan is currently in jail, they are angry, they have
00:41:43termed it a black day when the federal government imposed
00:41:46emergency and governor's rule, but on the
00:41:50ground, situation in Islamabad very much
00:41:53normal, you may see just behind a shipping containers
00:41:57blocking one the roads leading to the key government
00:42:01installations, but these containers have been placed for the last couple of
00:42:05weeks in anticipation of opposition's protest, but
00:42:08now we are getting... reports that authorities have decided to
00:42:12remove all these containers and other security measures,
00:42:16this means that authorities no longer
00:42:19anticipate or expect that protests may
00:42:22reach Islamabad. the reason is after the imposition
00:42:26of emergency and governor's rule, authorities have
00:42:30detained hundreds of PTI activists leaders
00:42:34including now the suspended chief minister the
00:42:38province who according to the P is under protective
00:42:41custody in Pishawar, the provincial capital, there
00:42:45are reports that there is less than usual traffic,
00:42:49schools, both the government and the private are currently
00:42:53shut, and this morning the newly appointed
00:42:56council led by the governor presided over a meeting
00:43:00to decide how to move forward, so a political
00:43:04temperature may be high, but as far as the situation on the ground
00:43:08in the capital is concerned that is pretty much normal, when it comes to
00:43:12that political temperature, the federal government has now effectively taken
00:43:16over that province, what difference are they hoping it's
00:43:19going to make, and if you can just remind our viewers why they
00:43:23think they now need to take over to improve conditions
00:43:26there, well think it is worth
00:43:30noting that khibar pakhtun province bordering
00:43:34afghanistan is facing serious security
00:43:37challenge, there has been surge in the number of terrorist attacks
00:43:41in that province and according to the
00:43:45federal government, the provincial government led by the
00:43:48opposition Pakistan Tahike Insaf was not cooperating with the
00:43:52federal government in terms of dealing with the threat, the
00:43:56PTI had a position that they believe that since
00:44:00the province has undergone serious security challenges over
00:44:04the past many years, so they do not support large scale
00:44:07counter terrorism operation and they... not agree with the
00:44:11central's policy how to deal with the problem
00:44:13and that according to the center is major hurdle and that is
00:44:17why they felt that it was important that the federal government
00:44:20directly now control the provincial matters, but there is a political
00:44:24context too, it is also seen in the context the long
00:44:28running confrontation between the fatal government as well as with the party
00:44:32of former prime minister Imran Khan because they were planning to
00:44:36march towards the capital Islamabad to seek the release their
00:44:40leader, so some political experts believe that this move by the federal
00:44:44government was also aimed at to scuttle that move by the
00:44:47PTI. let's see how that all plays out. thanks for bringing
00:44:51us the latest there. camran from Pakistan's capital,
00:44:55Islamabad. to India now, where opposition parties
00:44:59are about to come together to march on the Supreme Court in
00:45:02support the youth lead cockroach junta movement. they're
00:45:06calling for the resignation the election commission chief. Over the
00:45:10removal of 130 million voters from the voters
00:45:14roll, the cockroach movement is also gathering in the center the
00:45:18capital, New Delhi, where roads have again been blocked by security
00:45:22forces and metro stations closed. The weekend saw
00:45:26hundreds of people arrested ahead the scheduled march.
00:45:29Senior opposition leader Rahul Gandhi questioned the measures being
00:45:33taken by the
00:45:34government.
00:45:39Delhi is. been turned into a fortress as 20 to 3000 police
00:45:43members have been deployed, now think about how powerful this
00:45:47is, but our strategy is different, we want to show the country that
00:45:50Narendra Modi and his government are protecting Ganesh
00:45:53Kumar. Smitha Sharma is
00:45:57closely following developments, she's got more on the story from New
00:46:01Delhi. The streets the Indian national
00:46:04capital remain highly fortified for the third consecutive day
00:46:08as protests continue. demanding the resignation the chief
00:46:12election commissioner was surrounded by serious allegations of
00:46:15electoral fraud. you can see right behind me,
00:46:19while vehicles are plying today, the streets were completely
00:46:23blocked off on 10th of October, but there is heavy
00:46:27security presence everywhere. this road behind
00:46:31me is what leads to the designated protest site of Jantar
00:46:34Mantar where everybody has been stopped from entering,
00:46:38but today along with the student out. as well as the
00:46:41popular youth political group, cockroat janta
00:46:45party, there's an additional protest call that has been given
00:46:48by the opposition alliance led by the main opposition
00:46:52Party Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi, they plan to
00:46:56march to the apex court itself, the Supreme Court of
00:46:59India a short while from now, everywhere
00:47:03multiple layers of security forces have been
00:47:07deployed, over the past two days we have seen mass
00:47:10detentions the youth, citizens,
00:47:14elderly who have been out on the streets, demanding that their
00:47:18voices be heard, that there be accountability a
00:47:21democracy. lawyers have been ruffed up,
00:47:25several journalists have also been detained, many
00:47:29them working with independent digital outlets to
00:47:33content creators, giving a sense that perhaps there may
00:47:36also be deliberate targeting of sort, for
00:47:40now there's no dialogue as far as the modi
00:47:43government is concerned, they have chosen to go for
00:47:48heavy armed forces presence and a high-handed
00:47:51response to these protests we are expecting lot of chaos
00:47:55as the day progresses here in New Delhi,
00:47:59the roads are buzzing with traffic right now, but a short
00:48:03while we may see all these roads blocked off when that
00:48:07protest march
00:56:32for all those sporting updates and that also brings up to the end
