00:01:45Welcome to the program: days of attacks on Saudi Arabia's capital is
00:01:49shaking the kingdom and raising questions about what comes next for the
00:01:52region. The Saudi Energy minister is describing the
00:01:56a strikes by hoothies from neighboring Yemen as serious.
00:02:00and needing equally serious response. the airport has been hit
00:02:04three times in just 5 days, killing a total of 17
00:02:07people. hundreds of Monday's flights
00:02:10of out of rehad have been cancelled with damage assessments and safety
00:02:14inspections now underway. Iran's foreign minister has phoned his
00:02:17Saudi
00:02:18in counterpart in to say rather
00:02:20of that Tehran is ready to help facilitate talks with Yemen's
00:02:24hoothies. Abas Aragi stressed there is no
00:02:27military solution to the crisis. At the same time, Donald Trump
00:02:31is weighing up a US response and whether it should launch
00:02:35attacks on the hoothies, long allied with Iran. Batam

00:02:41of coverage. Saudi Arabia's main international airport

00:04:00saw to project confidence as energy ministers
00:04:03and
00:04:04of industry leaders gathered in Riyadh for the 17th
00:04:08international energy forum meeting. Saudi
00:04:12resilience
00:04:14of and forsite. I think by now
00:04:17people take it as given. Saudi
00:04:21Arabia remained resilient. No one can
00:04:24of shake our determination to
00:04:26of sustain our progress and fulfill our commitment.
00:04:30Security concerns remain high across the region
00:04:34with Turkia calling it clear violation of
00:04:38international law, joining the condemnation of its
00:04:41partner in the Mecca agreement. I
00:04:45believe that what the Hufis are doing in this regard is extremely regrettable and no
00:04:49amount of condemnation is enough. Pakistan has repeatedly time and
00:04:53again including today said that this campaign the Huthis are waging against the
00:04:57Saudis has no justification
00:04:59of whatsoever. of Saudi state media has now reported that Iranian
00:05:03farm minister Abbas Arakshi offered Riad
00:05:06assistance to facilitate talks with the
00:05:09in Hithies. The other side
00:05:11of the story is is unfolding in your
00:05:13man, fierce clashes are
00:05:16escalating there, hothy one tv,
00:05:20broadcast footage, it said showed fighters chasing
00:05:24saudi back forces and lahs a key province between
00:05:28tas and haden, it is another sign that
00:05:32with diplomacy stored the guns are still doing the
00:05:36talking,
00:05:41okay let's bring in muhammed.
00:05:47what have we heard from the hoothies about this latest
00:05:49attack?
00:05:51hello,
00:05:56regarding the what you have, we have we have heard from the his regarding the
00:06:00latest attacks on Saudi Arabia, some of some the some the
00:06:04hotis that are not officials, we are talking about the social
00:06:07media, the they mentioned that the the they would like
00:06:11the saudis to test. but the yemanies have who are under the control
00:06:15the hies have been going through all the 10 years or 12
00:06:19years for the continuation the war the war and the conflict
00:06:22the some them showed that the some the saudi
00:06:26passengers have have been have been
00:06:30didn't have any option but to to ride on buses
00:06:34and also tracks in order to go back to the Saudi
00:06:38Arabia from neighboring countries so we are talk about the
00:06:42the the the the the houthis officials especially
00:06:45the we are talking about the the the houthies leader who mentioned
00:06:48the the the during his recent speech that
00:06:52the the the are adiment to continue their
00:06:55escalation and we are witnessing this escalation has be has
00:06:59started to reach the saudi airports
00:07:02and maybe we could reach this
00:07:06Saudi seaports because the the the
00:07:10the
00:07:10the the houthies leader here. to continue his
00:07:14escalation, he mentioned that the they are
00:07:18not going to be detered as especially that the he he he
00:07:22believes that they are they are having a just cause they are calling for Saudi
00:07:25Arabia left its blockade and to allow yemanies to uh
00:07:29to to to return back to the negotiation table to resolve their differences
00:07:33peacefully uh the he mentions that this is just
00:07:37calls
00:07:38on the the international community should stand with them according to his words while
00:07:42the... the official said that the the energy security
00:07:45is something couldn't be taken for granted and that we will
00:07:49stand firm and they will response fairly against the his
00:07:53attacks on the saudi infrastructure.
00:07:57mhammed, you're in Yemen, you're in Sana, what's the latest on the
00:08:00retaliatory attacks on the ground
00:08:02there?
00:08:09so we are, what
00:08:11the the recent? bts on the ground, each
00:08:15party continues to claim that they have recaptured the uh one
00:08:19position and later later on the the other
00:08:22party claims that they're capturing
00:08:26this position, we are talking maybe about in
00:08:29just the past 24 hours, the his claimed
00:08:33their responsibility recently while the international recognized government
00:08:37claimed this responsibility of recapturing it
00:08:41just 20. hours ago
00:08:43so we are having a speedy and fast
00:08:46moving developmentts on the ground, the the
00:08:50both side, both parties are stretching from their areas of
00:08:53control towards babel mandab, nobody has left the the babel
00:08:57mandab and the internationally recognized government has
00:09:01mentioned that they are still fighting some pockets
00:09:04of fighters in the babil mandab and
00:09:08they mentioned also they have foiled earlier
00:09:11the... advancing attemps toward the airport
00:09:15of web which is have been
00:09:18taken by the international recognized government
00:09:21so far also we are talking about the the the the houties military
00:09:25spokes person he mentioned that the have also foiled attempt
00:09:29by the by by the international organized government to advance
00:09:32towards the waziah which is the which is the gate
00:09:36the babil mandab so also the the
00:09:40international recognized government person mentioned that they have carried out
00:09:44nearly 1,900 military operations that have
00:09:48neutralized hundreds of hies according to his words. okay,
00:09:52thank you so much for the update, mohammed alatab in Santana for us.
00:09:56let's bring in Raza Hattami now who's in Tehran
00:10:00for us. reza, what further details do you have about Iran's
00:10:04office to facilitate these talks between Saudi Arabia and
00:10:08the
00:10:08Hutis?
00:10:12well. Despite height and tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia, we are seeing that the
00:10:16two countries are talking at the highest levels. Iran's top
00:10:20diplomat Abbas Araqchi had a phone conversation with the Saudi canterpart Faisal
00:10:24bin Farhan. He said that, according to Iran's point of
00:10:27view, the situation in Yemen and in Saudi
00:10:30Arabia have has no
00:10:34military solution, and disregard for
00:10:37political solutions will only complicate this
00:10:41situation, and we know that Iran has great influence over the
00:10:44hoothis in Yemen, and Iran's foreign minister Abbas Sarahchi
00:10:48said that he is ready to, his country is ready to
00:10:52facilitate talks between, Saudi
00:10:55Arabia and Yemen's hoothis and we know that Iran's
00:10:59longstanding position regarding the situation in Yemen
00:11:02and warring factions in Yemen is that
00:11:06the warring factions in Yemen should adhere to a
00:11:092022 UN backed road map for
00:11:13peace, they should initiate Yemeni Yemeny
00:11:16dialogue and Iran says that top of that Yemen Yemeny
00:11:19dialogue it is ready to facilitate Saudi
00:11:23um and Houti. dialogue as well,
00:11:27and today this stance on Monday
00:11:31was reiterated by Iran's foreign ministry spokesperson Ismail
00:11:35Baqayi who said that only, I mean the fighting
00:11:38between Yemen, yemen Suthies and Saudi Arabia
00:11:42only serves Israely interests in the
00:11:45region, adding that two Muslim countries should not
00:11:49be at war, this is only to the benefit of Israel. Iran
00:11:52is also criticizing Arabia for imposing a
00:11:56blockade on Yemen's hoothies
00:12:00as well as a July Saudi Ara strike on Sana
00:12:04airport that according to Iran and from Iran's point of view
00:12:07accelerate the tensions that have now spilled
00:12:11into war. Reza moving to the
00:12:15Iran-US war now the tuwing and frowing between the two
00:12:18countries continues. Where are we at from diplomatic
00:12:21standpoint?
00:12:26Well, on Sunday, Iran's top security chief, the secretary of Iran
00:12:30supreme National Security Council, Mohsen Rizay said that Iran has received the
00:12:34USA's response to Tehran's seven seven
00:12:38point proposal,
00:12:41and he said, he said that the US
00:12:45respon response is not adequate and is
00:12:49insufficient, he said that the United States has accepted some of Iran's
00:12:53seven demands without specifying. which ones exactly? we know that
00:12:56Iran has demanded sanctions relief for its oil and
00:13:00petrochemical products, Iran has demanded a release of
00:13:04billions of dollars in its frozen assets abroad. Tehran has called for an
00:13:08end to US naval blockade on Iran and Iranian
00:13:12ports and also Tehran has called for indev Israely attacks on Lebanon.
00:13:15Tehran wants all these conditions plus few
00:13:18more to be met by Washington before it reopens the straight of
00:13:22hormos. Tehran says if these conditions are. not met all
00:13:25them by the United States, then Tehran uh is
00:13:29not ready to continue the negotiations, so at the
00:13:32moment, Iran
00:13:34is still weighing the US's response, it has
00:13:38not given its response via
00:13:41mediators to the United States, as of yet, again
00:13:44todayt is weekly press conference said that Iran is still
00:13:48weighing the US's proposal, but the straight of hormos is not going to be reopened
00:13:52unless all these Iranian conditions are met. Certainly a dynamic
00:13:56time. Thanks so much for the update. Reza Hatami in Tehran. Let's
00:14:00bring in Hannah Porter now, who is a Yemen research specialist and
00:14:03author. She joins us live from London. Hannah, thanks so much for joining us
00:14:07on the program. As we heard from our correspondent, it's certainly a
00:14:11turbulent time in the region. Let's start with the Iran
00:14:14war. How is that conflict complicating efforts to
00:14:18resolve the hostilities between the Saudis and the
00:14:21Houties? Well, certainly that is influencing.
00:14:25Hothi decision making, we've seen of course the hoothies uh
00:14:29threatening maritime attacks uh on the Red Sea, and then at
00:14:32least with their temporary hold on Babed Mendeb, which now appears to be
00:14:36jeopardized, that threat was increased,
00:14:40and so when you have the Straight of Hormus closed and then threats
00:14:44to further restrict maritime traffic in the Red Sea and through
00:14:48Babel Mendeb, then that has a global impact uh on
00:14:51the economy and um on trade, so I think that the
00:14:55Hutis are certainly primarily informed by events
00:14:59on the ground in Yemen and territorial shifts and of course
00:15:03their war with Saudi Arabia and they are primarily framing this as a
00:15:07war with Saudi Arabia rather than a civil war within Yemen,
00:15:11but certainly uh the US
00:15:12war on Iran is is informing their choices and they're
00:15:16building that into their strategy. What does Iran stand to
00:15:20gain given the conflict with the US by offering to
00:15:23facilitate or mediate? between Saudi Arabia and
00:15:27the and the Hutis, so I think
00:15:31that the Hithies and probably Iran is well see that the Houties are a
00:15:35very strong negotiating position right now and... and I believe this is why
00:15:38we see the Huthis escalating at this point over the summer and up
00:15:42until now the Huthies have noted that uh Saudi
00:15:46Arabia's allies and partners in the region are somewhat
00:15:50reluctant to intervene on Saudi Arabia's behalf so the Huthies
00:15:53see that they can attack Saudi airports and maritime interests and
00:15:57oil interests and they believe that they will still be able to
00:16:01control the territory that they control across Yemen and possibly even make
00:16:05gains as we have seen as governor it and along the red sea
00:16:09coast, so the huties believe that this is the time to make demands, and of
00:16:13course their demands are a lifting the blockade, the saudi enforce blockade on
00:16:17northern Yemen, and also a degree of legitimization.
00:16:21At the same time, the Huthies are able to really apply
00:16:25pressure not only to Saudi Arabia, but the international community
00:16:28and intentionally uh influence the US to
00:16:32lift uh and resolve the war with Iran
00:16:35and and stop attacks there. well, how likely is it that
00:16:39Riyad will accept this offer from Iran to to mediate
00:16:43given their longstanding sort of struggles, the dominance in the
00:16:46region? Saudi Arabia is a very
00:16:50difficult position right now, I don't think they're going to be willing at
00:16:54the moment to re-enter into negotiations with the Houties, they will
00:16:58probably understandably feel the need to retaliate due to the
00:17:02numerous deadly attacks by the Houties on Saudi
00:17:05airports, but at the same time in the long-term, there really
00:17:09isn't going to be a military solution to the problem the huties
00:17:13and Yemen's war more broadly, so there will need to be
00:17:16return to diplomacy to some extent, and I think from the
00:17:20Huthi perspective, what they want to ensure is that they're an advantageous
00:17:24position in the lead-up to potential talks, whenever those may be, and from
00:17:28the Saudi perspective, they will only re-enter talks when they
00:17:31feel like they can save face, and that it doesn't appear that they are
00:17:35just doing it under immense. uh pressure from these hoothy
00:17:39attacks. Hannah, really appreciate your insights. Hannah Porter, a Yemen
00:17:43research specialist and author joining us from London. Thank you.
00:17:47Thank you. Let's go to our correspondent John Brain in
00:17:50Washington. Now, John, certainly plenty to talk about
00:17:53today. Let's start with what's happening with Trump
00:17:57and him intervening or not in this conflict with the
00:18:01hoothies. He did say on Sunday that he was weighing up
00:18:05his options. What can you tell us about his latest?
00:18:13Well he's in very difficult position really, he's already turned down
00:18:16two requests from the Saudis for military
00:18:20assistance, direct military assistance against the Hujis,
00:18:24uh Donald Trump has turned them down on both
00:18:27occasions uh and they're trying a third time, and of course
00:18:31Saudi Arabia has always assumed that America has got
00:18:35its back so to speak, so... very difficult for the
00:18:38US to - not go to the Saudi's
00:18:41assistance, at the moment they're limiting that assistance to
00:18:45intelligence gathering, for example uh,
00:18:49but Riyad wants direct military help from
00:18:53the Americans, the problem for Donald Trump is that the US
00:18:56attacked the hooties last year, carried out sustained
00:19:00bombing campaign against thehooties - huge
00:19:04expense uh, but it didn't really have the desire to... and
00:19:08Trump is unwilling to get engaged again,
00:19:11more importantly because the mid-term elections are
00:19:15now very close indeed. Iran has
00:19:18already hugely damaged the Republicans chances in
00:19:22those elections and Trump knows that opening up second
00:19:26front against the hooties uh would damage those
00:19:30chances even further so he's very mindful
00:19:34the fact that this country is going to the polls on November. the
00:19:37third for those congressional elections and that is
00:19:41probably the biggest factor at the moment in staying his
00:19:45hands. yes, John, let's let's turn to those mid-terms now,
00:19:49which are just around the corner, and Trump's latest attempt to
00:19:53bring oil prices down. what can you tell us about this supposed
00:19:56energy ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, which was
00:20:00announced at
00:20:01the
00:20:06weekend? well, I think it's come to a... surprise for as a surprise to
00:20:10most people uh, not least of course the Ukrainians
00:20:13themselves who only learned about it through social media,
00:20:17through me the media, presumably the Russians learned about it that
00:20:21way as well, it feels like very typical
00:20:25Trump move almost off the top of his head, something that he's
00:20:29desires rather than something that has actually been
00:20:32agreed, again though uh, as we've been saying it's all to do with the
00:20:36mid-term elections, fuel prices are the
00:20:40biggest drag on the Republican's prospects in the
00:20:44elections. Trump is desperate to bring those prices down
00:20:48before the Americans. go to the polls, so he's got this
00:20:52deal with the Russians to import
00:20:55300 million tons of fuel in the first instance
00:20:59of diesel. most analysts here say that's barely going to
00:21:03scratch the surface, it's - hardly a
00:21:06day's usage for most americ for the
00:21:09Americans as a whole, and of course it's
00:21:13- really up-ended the uh negotiations about
00:21:17ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, it's really... really uh put
00:21:21the balance far in the Russian
00:21:25side, but then Trump has never really supported president
00:21:28Zelensky, he's of course calling for new leader for the
00:21:32Ukraine Ukrainians, this goes back to his first term when
00:21:36it was his telephone call with Zelensky which led to his first
00:21:39impeachment uh, so there's no love loss there, but this
00:21:43has taken most people by
00:21:45surprise, and there's a great deal of
00:21:48skepticism about... whether this so-called seas far will
00:21:52hold and as I say whether this import
00:21:56of Russian diesel will really make any difference. John,
00:21:59really appreciate the update. Thanks so much. John Brain, life for us in
00:22:03Washington DC, and following on from what John said,
00:22:07President Zelensky says Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy
00:22:10facilities, despite the announcement of that truce by Donald
00:22:14Trump. Russian strikes hit the second largest city of Karkiv,
00:22:18killing six people and during nine on Sunday, among the
00:22:22targets was heating and power plant. Zelensky says
00:22:25Kive will retaliate if Moscow does not agree to that ce
00:22:29fire. This winter, if Russia
00:22:33does not agree to an energy fire, we will
00:22:37respond. So that is why
00:22:40yesterday the American President's post
00:22:44drew real interest and real
00:22:47hope that the... is f could actually
00:22:51work, we in Ukraine immediately supported, if Russia
00:22:55wants us to stop our long range strikes
00:22:59against its oil refineries and oil
00:23:02exports, then Russia must stop its
00:23:06strikes against our energy
00:23:09system and critical
00:23:12infrastructure and stop kill our
00:23:15people. Let's bring in Peter
00:23:19Dickinson. now live from Kiv, hello there, Peter, has there been
00:23:23any changes to what's happening on the ground since the announcement of this so-called
00:23:27energy cease fire? well,
00:23:31the only major change we've seen is is continued russian attacks, so I'm
00:23:35not sure whether that constitutes to change or not, it's more more business as usual
00:23:38unfortunately, um, but certainly within hours of the announcement
00:23:41being posted on social media by President Trump, uh,
00:23:46one we had major attack on on the largest power stations in the entire country, in fact, the largest... east
00:23:50Ukraine, I believe, in Harikiv, so um there's certainly no indication at
00:23:54all from the Russian side that they have any interest in in
00:23:58adhering to this sease far, whether they even aware of it or whether they they believe that they
00:24:02were party to any negotiations, it's not clear at all, but what we can say,
00:24:05I think with
00:24:06a with a high degree of certainty is that they're not going, they're not adhering to it,
00:24:10um, and Ukraine has been clear, they've said President Zelensky has reiterated
00:24:13today, Ukraine is ready to hear to sease fire, they
00:24:17proposed cefires themselves on on numerous. occasions of this nature,
00:24:21energy seasfires, um, but if Russia doesn't um, doesn't
00:24:24reciprocate, if they don't have a bilateral agreement, Ukraine will not stop its
00:24:28attacks, because these attacks are regarded by the Ukrainians as absolutely
00:24:32crucial for
00:24:33the for the war effort and for their national defense. As you mentioned,
00:24:36Peter Zelensky spoke in Warsaw earlier on
00:24:40Monday today, he said that he would agree to an energy fire if
00:24:44Russia did, what else did he have to say of
00:24:46significance?
00:24:50"well, he was calling on the European, I mean the event today was in Warsaw, so it was very much
00:24:54about European security, and Zelensky was trying to
00:24:57underline uh, how they're all in this together, as it were, that
00:25:00Europe now must stand together for the defense of Ukraine and as part the
00:25:04defense of Europe, as the the front line of European defense, uh, he
00:25:08noted, he noted that Europe now must be able to defend
00:25:12itself, that they should be under illusions about um the
00:25:15ability of of the transatlantic alliance to defend
00:25:19Europe, it's now up. Europe to do that, and that really needs to be part of
00:25:22supporting Ukraine as the front line in this this fight, and
00:25:26I if Ukraine were not just were to fall or Russia were
00:25:30to see succeed in Ukraine, then Europe would face lot of very difficult security
00:25:33challenges that they're perhaps not prepared for yet, so um he was really
00:25:37trying to mobilize further support from the European side by
00:25:41underlining how how interlinked European and Ukrainian security
00:25:44are, yeah they certainly are, thanks so much for the update, Peter Dickinson in Kieve
00:25:48for us. Meanwhile, Russia's presidential
00:25:52spokesperson Dimitri Peskoff has been commenting in the last few hours. He
00:25:56says Russia could stop attacks only for a day if Ukraine
00:26:00holds elections. shov has the
00:26:03details: the cran has not confirmed that there is
00:26:07an energy cease fire in place, instead, he the creman
00:26:11spokesman peskov was quoted as saying that all the
00:26:14contacts are ongoing, so Russia is essentially playing down the
00:26:18statements made by the American president, but at the same time
00:26:22spokesman also said that Moscow really favors and
00:26:26really welcomes all the efforts the American
00:26:29envoys with regards to their... of
00:26:33ways to peace in Ukraine and the negotiators Steve Whitkov and Jared
00:26:37Kusch have done a great job according to Moscow, so Russia
00:26:41is now saying that um just not their efforts but also
00:26:44the personal contact is something that they welcome here, but
00:26:48in contrast there is Europe and Moscow says that Europe does not want
00:26:52peace (cran spokesman said they are trying to encourage Ukraine to continue at
00:26:56the fighting), but at the same time Moscow is also saying that it
00:27:00remains open for the negotiated. and to this conflict, just before
00:27:04Russia held the parliamentary elections in the middle of
00:27:08September, Moscow says it was ready for the resumption the
00:27:11negotiations, however the Ukrainian strikes that were intensified
00:27:15throughout the weekend when Russians were heading to the polls uh telling
00:27:19us according to the Kremman a very different picture that Ukraine is not willing, so
00:27:22Russia now says that they can stop the fighting for one day
00:27:26when Ukrainians go to the polin stations to elect a new
00:27:30president if there is genuine. desire in Kief to hold the
00:27:33elections, however from the Russian perspective, there is no such desire
00:27:37and Moscow continues to say that what Ukraine is trying to do is to
00:27:41find the loop hole, a pretext to end the fighting to
00:27:45salt it for at least some period of time that would allow
00:27:49Ukraine
00:27:50in the words of Russian officials to heal the
00:27:52wounds
00:27:56and Ukraine as we've been hearing has been targeting Russia's energy
00:27:59infrastructure, its oil refineries and data center. Those attacks
00:28:03have especially intensified over the past 18 months. In June, Russian
00:28:07refinery output fell to 3.8 million barrels per
00:28:11day, its lowest level in more than 20 years. Economist
00:28:15Cornelia Meyer is an energy analyst and CEO of Mia
00:28:18resources. She tells us the effects those attacks are
00:28:22having on the rest the world. The world is
00:28:26really running extremely low on diesel and that
00:28:30is important because right now. the northern
00:28:33hemisphere, we are in the harvesting season
00:28:37and the and diesel and and
00:28:40agricultural equipment runs on
00:28:43diesel, so this is countries
00:28:47are feeling this, especially in Europe countries are feeling it,
00:28:50about more than 50% of diesel is
00:28:53imported from from america, what we are
00:28:57lacking is the the the diesel from the efficient
00:29:00refineries on the other side for mous and also some
00:29:04the jet fuel, gasoline, diesel from the
00:29:08Asian efficient refineries who because the Iran
00:29:12war do not get enough crude supplies to really
00:29:15refine sufficient, so the world is really
00:29:18running very, very low on diesel,
00:29:22well the I think the deal is that Russia will export
00:29:26to the US, but maybe also to other countries, and what happens
00:29:30if is if there is more diesel in the... us um
00:29:34the obviously prices will come down and that's important for Donald
00:29:37Trump's mid-term elections, but also you know
00:29:41there there was the talk of a diesel export
00:29:44ban from Russia
00:29:46to, which would have been
00:29:50very bad for Europe, which where I said more than 50%
00:29:54the diesel about 420,000 barrels a day in
00:29:57September are coming from from from the
00:30:01US and... you now in Latin America gets about 600 thous to
00:30:05700 thousand barrels a day, so um
00:30:09so and any relief is is a good thing,
00:30:13the issue is just you know what will it do to the
00:30:16Russia Ukraine conflict, and
00:30:19clearly um clearly the the western governments are not
00:30:22very keen on this deal, they were keen on
00:30:26a ceastfire on an energy ceastfire, but that
00:30:30seems not to be happening.
00:30:40You're watching the news hour on TRT World, the reminder of our top
00:30:44stories: repeated hoothy attacks from Yemen have shaken Riad, the
00:30:48capital airport has been hit three times in 5 days, killing
00:30:5117 people. President Voladimir Zelensky says
00:30:55Russia has attacked Ukraine's energy facilities despite the truth
00:30:59announced by Trump at the weekend. Russians. strikes at the second largest
00:31:03city of K, killing six people and injuring nine
00:31:07on Sunday. Among the targets was heating and power
00:31:10plants.
00:31:15forces have launched a drone attack on refugee camp in the south the
00:31:19Gaza Strip, killing two Palestinians. Paramedics say
00:31:23several people were wounded in the attack which struck the area near the city of
00:31:26Raffa. Thousands of Palestinians displaced by Israel's assault
00:31:30on Gaza have been forced to live in tents in
00:31:33Al-Mawasi. Israel's military has been
00:31:37continuing to expand its so-called yellow line in the east of Gaza
00:31:41City. The line divides Gaza into two zones: an eastern area under
00:31:45Israeli military oversight and a western area where Palestinians
00:31:48can move with fewer restrictions. Military vehicles advance
00:31:52beyond their existing positions in the east of Gaza City under cover
00:31:56of heavy gunfire and shelling. Meanwhile, the UN
00:32:00says nearly two-thirds of Gaza is inaccessible to
00:32:04Palestinians or subject to severe restrictions.
00:32:07Abdul Waheb Hamad reports from that so-called
00:32:11yellow line. I am here in one the
00:32:15neighborhoods in eastern Gaza City, this area is
00:32:19very close to the Israeli military controlled areas in
00:32:23Gaza known as yellow line, there in the
00:32:26background, that whole area is under full
00:32:30Israeli military control, the yellow line
00:32:33determines how much of gaza palestinians here can
00:32:37actually live in, the problem is this
00:32:41line was supposed to stay frozen until full
00:32:45withdrawal from Gaza and until
00:32:48Donald Trump Gaza peace plan moves
00:32:52on, the second phase the plan uh moves
00:32:56on, nothing of that happened, Netanyahu has
00:32:59described the foot print as
00:33:0253% to 60% control over Gaza, and
00:33:06now he is saying the next step is
00:33:0970% control over the Palestinian coastal
00:33:13enclave, this is naive. "he lives in
00:33:16distant and has lost his home inside the Israely
00:33:20military controlled areas in the gaza strip known as the
00:33:24yellow line, living very close to the line
00:33:28determines how much he close and other families in this
00:33:32neighborhood close to their homes, to their schools
00:33:35inside those areas, moving the line
00:33:39on means this family has to
00:33:43move with it, like" bullets are
00:33:46everywhere, we feel threatened all the time, we can't even
00:33:50sleep at night because of fear, our lives are very
00:33:52i'm difficult,
00:34:02a lot of pain and
00:34:04i'm still suffering from the
00:34:05injury, you can imagine what
00:34:09that means for families living in this
00:34:12neighborhood, they have been the... placed many
00:34:15times again and again, they set up
00:34:19their tents, settle down, and
00:34:22suddenly they're told to move
00:34:25again. negotiations over Trump's
00:34:29gaza peace plan, the second phase remains dead
00:34:33locked. with this expansion
00:34:37the yellow line, this means that the areas Israel control
00:34:41is getting bigger with only one single fact,
00:34:45less is peace for Palestinians to
00:34:47live. Israeli settlers have
00:34:51raided the Al-Aqsa Mosk compound in occupied East
00:34:54Jerusalem. dozens entered the courtyard and performed prayers
00:34:58in front the dome the rock mosk. the compound and its
00:35:02area are sacred Muslim sites, but Israeli
00:35:05settlers have been carrying out intensifying incursions with
00:35:09impunity. this year, more than 40,00 settlers have ventured
00:35:13into the holy compound.
00:35:17Palestinian farmers in the occupied west bank are vowing to
00:35:20defend their land from illegal Israeli settlers who
00:35:24stole half their harvest and some farming equipment on Sunday.
00:35:28The farmers in Aine Yebrud tried to harvest their olives
00:35:31but only managed to fill 15 bags before being pushed back by
00:35:35Israeli forces who fired stun grenades. Muhammad
00:35:39Alwan has the story. It's their
00:35:43land, their farms and olives, yet the
00:35:46Palestinian farmers face a brutal battle every autumn
00:35:50to access them under the shadow of Israels and illegal
00:35:54occupation. Together, the residents of Anya Brude village in
00:35:58the occupied West bank set out on Sunday to harvest their olive
00:36:02trees, keeping alive a tradition known as
00:36:05Alona, where people help each other pick the
00:36:08crop. Another reason for this unity is to protect their
00:36:12land from illegal Israeli settlers who have... taken over large
00:36:16areas. Israel has declared the area a closed military
00:36:20zone, preventing Palestinians from accessing
00:36:22their own land, for this land owner, even trying
00:36:26to access his
00:36:36We have come to harvest our own olives, these are our village trees inherited
00:36:40from our fathers and grandfathers, thank god our spirits are high because
00:36:44we are standing on our own land, we are not here to steal or harm
00:36:47anyone, they are the ones coming to us stealing our
00:36:50harvest, residents had been on their land for just an hour
00:36:54when illegal settlers attacked, minutes later, Israeli forces
00:36:58arrived, the head the village council could only watch as
00:37:02residents were forced to leave for their own
00:37:04safety. illegal settlers ramped the
00:37:08village council's vehicle, forcing it off the road,
00:37:12attacked residents and try to run people over. they then trave
00:37:16stones at olive pickers from higher ground, while Israeli
00:37:20forces fired, stunt grenades at the
00:37:22palestinians. illegal settlers were seen cutting away
00:37:26the stolen. harvest and heading towards the top the
00:37:30mountain they had previously taken over.
00:37:34The Palestinians have been fished to leave, but they remained determined to
00:37:37return and harvest their olives. What happened here reflects a wider
00:37:41pattern across the occupied West Bank, where illegal settler violence
00:37:45continues escalate. Across the occupied West
00:37:49Bank, more than 10 attacks are reported daily with the legal
00:37:53settlers stealing olive harvests in front their owners and
00:37:56using it. equipment to speed up the process, according
00:38:00to the agricultural ministry, losses to palestinian's olive
00:38:04sector have exceeded $157 million
00:38:08dollars since 2023 with around
00:38:11286, olive trees damaged in the
00:38:15west bank, the ministry fears these losses to rise
00:38:19as the harvest continues.
00:38:22TRT World, Ramallah,
00:38:25the occupied
00:38:25West bank. Turkish
00:38:29security sources have announced four PKK terrorist groups have
00:38:32withdrawn from camps in Northern Iraq's Matina region. The
00:38:36move is part the terror-free Turkey initiative that aims to
00:38:40eradicate the terrorism threat. In 2025, the PKK terror
00:38:44group laid down its arms a symbolic event in Sulaymania
00:38:48a northern province of Iraq. In August, Turkey's
00:38:51parliament ratified the bill which underpinned this process.
00:38:55For more on this story, let's bring in our Diplomatic correspondent Hassan
00:38:59Abdullah from Ankara. Hassan, what's the significance of this
00:39:03withdrawal?
00:39:07Well, basically we're talking about area in northern Iraq that is
00:39:11part of an important corridor, so we're looking at this area matine, which is in
00:39:15northern Iraq, going all the way to northeastern Iraq,
00:39:18connecting what had been the headquarters the PKK terrorist
00:39:22organization in Candial Mountains towards northern Iraq, and
00:39:26this is where they've had number of passages, so this area is just to the
00:39:30south of turkey's southeastern provinces of Shirnak and then
00:39:34you've got khakari, and this is where they had been
00:39:37using certain points to infiltrate Turkey and carry
00:39:41out terrorist activities in Turkey and also of course there was another
00:39:45passage linking them to Syria, so strategically the Turkish
00:39:49side is saying this is very significant, and then of course there is also the political view, the
00:39:53Turkish government is saying that there's a process of terror
00:39:57free here that is currently underway and this development basically
00:40:00indicates that the process is moving in the right
00:40:04direction, they say according to the schedule, they are monitoring of
00:40:08course the disarmment process and they're saying that
00:40:12this is going to continue, of course there are going to be some members the PKK terrorist
00:40:15organization uh who will be granted amnesty
00:40:19depending on what their history has been, what sort of activities they've been
00:40:23involved in and so forth, so that process is continuing in
00:40:26parallel and then of course there is the integration process, the
00:40:29officials are saying that as these people move out these formal
00:40:33terrorist camps and apply for amnesty in some cases, in other cases
00:40:37of course uh they are going to be integrated in Iraqi
00:40:40society and so forth, there's been coordination between Turkey and Iraq in that regard as
00:40:44well, so of course this process is being closely monitored
00:40:48at the moment, but overall the Turkish side is saying that strategically from a
00:40:52military point of view as well as politically this is a
00:40:56significant development. "and they're saying that they're continuing to
00:40:59closely monitor this terror-free turkey
00:41:02process. okay, thanks for bringing us up to speed. Hassan Abdallah in
00:41:06Ankara for
00:41:07us.
00:41:15Let's head to India now where weekend protests are intensifying as opposition
00:41:19parties much towards the Supreme Court in support the
00:41:23youth-led cockroach juntter movement. They're calling for the resignation the
00:41:27elec'." chief over the removal of 130 million people from
00:41:31electoral rolls. thousands of people have gathered in the center of New Delhi where
00:41:35roads have been again blocked by security forces and metro
00:41:39stations closed. Hundreds have been
00:41:41arrested.
00:41:43Shama fouled this report from the same. Quite dramatic
00:41:47visuals coming in here from the national capital of
00:41:50India. Right behind me is the truck where you can
00:41:54see Rahul Gandhi, India's firescest opponent the prime
00:41:58minister Modi, the leader the Congress Party,
00:42:02leading that protest march all the way up to Supreme
00:42:06Court. He is joined here by opposition leaders.
00:42:10lawmakers, elected law makers from the opposition
00:42:14parties who are a part the India alliance, all them
00:42:18have been demanding the resignation the chief election commissioner
00:42:22Gyanesh Kumar who is accused of serious
00:42:26electoral fraudulence and no electoral
00:42:29transparency in the world's largest
00:42:31democracy. Today when these protest started, all these
00:42:35leaders were actually in buses, it road up
00:42:39to distance of some two three kilometers, then rahul
00:42:43gandhi, priyanka Gandhi started marching on foot,
00:42:47they were joined by firy young student activist Neha
00:42:51Bora, who has been detained multiple times
00:42:55over the past few days, she is the president of
00:42:59left leaning student organization and after they
00:43:02walked on foot then they finally got to a
00:43:05truck, representation will be
00:43:09submitted to to the Supreme Court a petition will be submitted. We have heard
00:43:13several opposition law makers asking for the impeachment the
00:43:17election commissioner. This comes a time when we've already seen
00:43:21tense protest play out in the streets of
00:43:24New Delhi led by the Cookroach Janta Party a
00:43:28popular youth online movement and several youth
00:43:32activists in thousands including also lawyers and
00:43:35journalists who have been detained over these
00:43:39protests.
00:43:40you know in these past three days, now a state
00:43:44of emergency remains in place in part of Pakistan, in parts of
00:43:48Pakistan rather, after thousands of protesters took to the streets.
00:43:51Demonstrators were in Kaibaktunqua, northern province
00:43:55governed by the PTI, which is the party of former prime
00:43:59minister Imran Khan. The government's decision to impose a state of
00:44:03emergency brings the province under direct federal control. Prime
00:44:06Minister Shibaz or Shabaz rather Shariff accused. the local
00:44:10PTI government of failing to maintain law and
00:44:13order from Islamabad Camron Yusuf
00:44:17filed this report. Pakistan tarike
00:44:21Insaf
00:44:22a party of former Prime Minister Imran Khan who is currently in jail, they are
00:44:26angry, they have termed it a black day when the federal
00:44:29government imposed emergency and governor's rule,
00:44:33but on the ground situation in
00:44:35Islamabad very much normal, you may see just behind.
00:44:40shipping containers, blocking one the roads leading to the key
00:44:44government installations, but these containers have been placed for the
00:44:48last couple of weeks in anticipation of opposition's
00:44:52protest, but now we are getting reports that authorities have decided
00:44:56to remove all these containers and other security
00:44:59measures, this means that authorities no longer
00:45:03anticipate or expect that protests may
00:45:07reach Islamabad, the reason is, after the imposition
00:45:11of emergency and governor's rule, authorities have
00:45:14detained hundreds of PTI activists leaders
00:45:18including now the suspended chief minister the
00:45:22province who according to the police is under protective
00:45:26custody in Pishawar the provincial capital there
00:45:30are reports that there is less than usual traffic,

00:50:04All right, if you thought Jeers at Anfield, banners about cheating in the stands, lots
00:50:08of bananas would slow down Manchester City on Sunday in their first
00:50:12game back since the club's whole financial scandal, well uh, think again, enzo
00:50:15maresca's men headline by Erling Holland, the dude on the right right there,
00:50:19absolutely wiped the pitch with Anthony Iroelo's dude. dudes getting the
00:50:23job done in 13 second half minutes right after Ryan
00:50:26Gravenberg left Liverpool 10 men, Holland open the scoring at
00:50:30minute 65 and by minute 78 this man right here Jeremy
00:50:33doku and then uh this guy right here Ryan Chatki yeah the guy in the
00:50:37right made it 39 yeah
00:50:4003 unfield away it's great result for sure
00:50:44I think in this moment all the all the organization needs to
00:50:48win needs this kind of win like today so it's good
00:50:51for. for us as a coaching staff is good
00:50:55for the players, it's good for the fans, is good for the organization, i
00:50:59think again this kind of a win is good for for all
00:51:03the all the club. all right uh, city
00:51:07stay perfect through six rounds right and reinstate their three-point lead over defending champions
00:51:10arsenal with the b boys, brighton and bramford rounding out the top four,
00:51:14liverpool are down in ninth place though, ouch, but still big elephant in
00:51:18the room man, long way to go until man city finds out how they're going to get
00:51:22penalized for breaching more than 100 financial premier league rules.
00:51:26Keep in mind though, club officials are saying they haven't done anything wrong,
00:51:30and there's going to be a whole appeal process, and
00:51:33so until then limbo, it is something that man
00:51:37city's opponents certainly don't like. Ah,
00:51:41we lost the game, but it's not, that's a
00:51:45football, we competed, we can analyze,
00:51:49I said before the game, the uncertainty is not good for anyone. But
00:51:52is what it is, we cannot change it, and we
00:51:56have to wait. All right, down the road here in Istanbul
00:52:00and besiktash have leap frog the lakes of fenabache, trobson sport
00:52:04and amed. to go second in the Turkish Super League, that's after back
00:52:08and forth match against Koje Elisport where an absolutely
00:52:11fantastic opener, you're going to see it right now from the captain Orkun
00:52:15Kokcha and a penalty right after this from Dujan
00:52:19Vlahovic confirmed their 2-1 victory on Sunday, that makes
00:52:22it 15 points, one less dangala through seven
00:52:26games, and you're going to see Vlahovic's little skip, boom,
00:52:29two one, all right, nice little Sunday
00:52:33stroll in Singapore. what what other way can you really explain
00:52:37maxappen's first career win at the Singapore Grand Prix right and
00:52:40emphasize just how much of a walk in the park this
00:52:44was the only realistic challenge to the Flying Dushman came at
00:52:48the start look at this and we're underway
00:52:52and racing to turn number one should clair on the soft tire
00:52:56for stappin chops across shawler to the inside
00:53:00and he has stayed ahead for yes he has yeah any given
00:53:03race you'd be worried. to see two Ferraris on different tires, my
00:53:07juice starting close to the front row
00:53:09with ferstapin, luckily no repeat of 2017 cuz look at this,
00:53:13instead it was ice cold max keeping the lead, working magic on
00:53:17his soft compound tires and winning from pull to flag on the flip side
00:53:21though, the ferraris who should have pressured him throughout the 62 laps at the
00:53:25marina base street circuit were marred by traditional strategy
00:53:29whoopsies by the prancing horse, charl clair finishing in second place and Lewis
00:53:33Hamilton going from a third, to a sorry sixth place, all
00:53:37fowder though, all background noise for the now back-to-back race winner of
00:53:40stappin who in the second half the season has become
00:53:44arguably the fastest driver on the
00:53:46grid. mean, for sure, in the coming
00:53:50races, maybe some other teams will bring some final upgrades for the season, but
00:53:54it's been an incredible triple header for us, big turn around for the team, and i hope that we
00:53:58could just every single weekend try to just have a good time, try to try to
00:54:02fight for that win, yeah, that's the only thing that we can do als heading into heading into next
00:54:06year also to learn more about the car and have some fun out
00:54:09there. yes, a max that's having fun is no doubt good
00:54:12for f1, but you know who looked like they had way more fun out there in
00:54:16Singapore, championship leader Kim Antonilli, the precocious Italian,
00:54:20rounded out the podium with his Mercedes and just uh look at that lead man
00:54:24with teammate George Russell starting way in the back and only
00:54:28managing ninth place in the end, it means the 20-year-olds lead
00:54:31balloons to 102 points, which means...
00:54:35the next round in Texas at
00:54:36the United States grown pre might be where he becomes F1's
00:54:40youngest ever title winner. All right, tennis time now
00:54:44and we finally have a Chinese winner the China
00:54:47open. Jean Chinman beating Mira Andriva in straight
00:54:51sets to claim the Beijing base tournament on Sunday, but it could have gone
00:54:55the other way. You're going to see a
00:54:56it little bit. Jang faced three set points in the opening set,
00:55:00fended each and every one them off and ended up winning
00:55:037-5-6-4. is the 24-year-old sixth career
00:55:07title which includes a gold medal at Paris 2024, but this
00:55:11one that came after this ace right here is her first at the WTA
00:55:151000 level and to make it sweeter in front of her home fans man,
00:55:19wow!
00:55:24it's great to see, all right, staying in China, and uh, do you want to meet the oldest,
00:55:28first time men's world number one? well, it's this man right here,

00:55:40the Shanghai Masters fourth round, it marked a match with number 60 for
00:55:44him, but with Carlos Alkarath being stunned by
00:55:47Zizubaks on Monday, it confirms Zarav will finish
00:55:51226 at the top the rankings being the first man from Germany to do
00:55:54so. All this is after a stellar season where he won titles at the
00:55:58French open and the US open and it seems like it stems
00:56:02from him finally figuring out. ATP system how
00:56:06listen? I feel like
00:56:10this year I've been working through lot of tournaments, I've been lifting through lot of
00:56:13tournaments um and had maybe some losses which I
00:56:17shouldn't have had um
00:56:19but then it paid off because uh I won two grand slamps and I peicked at
00:56:23the right moments and made another Wimbleden final so I'm happy I'm happy with that but I think
