00:01:36minister of information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris
00:01:39as further clarified that the recent announcement of petrol price discount
00:01:43is not the same thing as petrol subsidy regime. At the
00:01:47a media chat with senior editors in Abuja. In a live broadcast,
00:01:51Mr. Idris says NNPCL is only denying itself
00:01:55of margin of profit for 30
00:01:57of days to mitigate the
00:01:58a hardship faced by some. Nigerians due to ongoing crisis
00:02:02between United States and Iran. The special advisor to the president and
00:02:06media and publicity by Onauga explains that the 66 n
00:02:10discount offered is a symbolic representation
00:02:13of the nation's independence celebration of 66 years of
00:02:17nationhood. The
00:02:18of minister equally outlined several achievements
00:02:20of the current administration describing them as headen on the
00:02:24right path. This is not reversing
00:02:28the causes of subsidy that established since the onset
00:02:32of the administration of president, what we're
00:02:34a trying to do is to approach matter that has arisen as
00:02:38a result of something that was not seen, when subsidy was removed of course
00:02:42um the iraq, mean the Iran,
00:02:46US war didn't exist, so at every
00:02:50time government is a
00:02:52of continuously evolving system, you look at issues and
00:02:56then you come up with mechanism to cushion the effect.
00:03:00citizens and so what the NMPC has done is
00:03:04they have looked at it and said, okay, we are making this much
00:03:07profit, why can't
00:03:10of we forgot some
00:03:11of the profit that we are making so that Nigerians will have
00:03:15uh some form of question, this is entirely within
00:03:19uh their own system, within their own mandate, NMPC is not just there to
00:03:23supply foil, it is also there to ensure that there is
00:03:27also energy security for our country. because this
00:03:30is a critical component
00:03:32me of of national development, we have this country and
00:03:36we should editors as as gate keepers, we
00:03:39of need to think about the country first, we don't
00:03:43just do
00:03:44of things that we flame
00:03:46of passions of that we can cause riot in the country and things like that, nigeria
00:03:50is very important, should be more important
00:03:52of for us in our editorial decisions that don't
00:03:56just allow things to
00:03:59of go. The federal high court in Abuja heard on Monday that
