00:01:46of of The minister of information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris
00:01:50has further clarified that the recent announcement
00:01:53of of petrol price discount is not the same thing as petrol
00:01:56subsidy regime, a media chat with senior editor. in
00:02:00Abuja, the live
00:02:02of broadcast, Mr. Idris says
00:02:03of NNPCL is only denying itself of margin of profit
00:02:07for 30 days to mitigate the hardship faced by some
00:02:10Nigerians due to ongoing crisis between United States and
00:02:15of Iran. the special advisor to the president on media and publicity
00:02:18byyonuga explains that the
00:02:20of 66 n discount offered is a symbolic representation
00:02:24of the nation's independence celebration of 66 years of
00:02:27nationhood. the minister equally outlined several achievements
00:02:31of the current administration describing them as heading the
00:02:35right
00:02:36of direction. this is not reversing the course
00:02:40of subsidy that was established since the onset
00:02:43of the administration of president. what we trying to do is to
00:02:47approach matter that has risen as
00:02:49a result of something that was not seen. when subsidy was removed of course um
00:02:54of the iraq, mean the Iran, us
00:02:58war didn't exist. so at every time
00:03:01government is a continuously
00:03:04of evolving system, you look at issues and then you come
00:03:08up with mechanism to cushion the effect for your
00:03:11citizens, and so what the NMPC
00:03:14a has done is they have looked at
00:03:16it and said, okay, we are making this
00:03:19much profit, why can't
00:03:20of we of forgot some
00:03:22of the profit
00:03:23of that we are making so that Nigerians will have uh
00:03:27some form of cushion, this is entirely with their
00:03:31of own system within their own mandate NMPC is not just there to supply
00:03:35foil, it is also there to ensure that there is also
00:03:38energy security for
00:03:39in our
00:03:40of country, because this is
00:03:46of of a critical component of national development, we have no other country, and
00:03:47we should be as editors, as
00:03:49as gatekeepers,
00:03:50we need to think about the country first, we don't
00:03:54just do things that flame
00:03:57of passions that we can cause riot in the country. and things like that,
00:04:01Nigeria is very important, should be more important for
00:04:04us in our editorial decisions that don't just
00:04:08allow things
00:04:09a to go. The federal government has filed new charges
00:04:12against the director general

00:04:27of of of the Federal High Court Abuja that the new charge has been filed at the FCC High Court and that Mr. Adi

00:04:42documents allegedly forched by DAB during his operations
00:04:45of the fake agency at those that can
00:04:47of be prosecuted by the FCT High Court, not the Federal High
00:04:50of Court. He edged the judge to strike out the charge as required by
00:04:54law. The chief justice

00:08:12attacks, the terrorists submitted a list containing 30 names
00:08:16their leaders and members to the federal government who they demanded must be
00:08:20released, also they would kill, else the would kill the
00:08:24victims. the witness at DSS operative testified today as
00:08:28the second prosecution witness in the ongoing trial, five
00:08:31men said to be members of Ansaru and accused of
00:08:35complicity in the ureri
00:08:37attacks.
00:08:50Monday, October 12, 2026, and the Federal High Court in Abuja is
00:08:53hearing a case that could redefine how Nigeria reachs
00:08:57insecurity in the southwest. The early school attack in which
00:09:00popus and teachers were abducted and taken into the Old
00:09:04Oyal National Park, is now before the court. This
00:09:08breakdown walks us through the case, they accused and the strategy.
00:09:13behind the attack, three figures anchor this story,
00:09:1656 days in captivity, 44 victims rescue
00:09:20from the old oyo national park and eight suspects taken
00:09:24into the DSS custody during the rid, the trial now links a
00:09:28southwest school attack to Ansaru and Arcadia, and it opens
00:09:32a question the region as longer voided, was this
00:09:36another crime scene or was this actually a
00:09:39jihadist campaign? now let's take a look at some the key
00:09:42revelations here, first is global
00:09:45affiliation. Ansaru was not acting
00:09:48alone and received direct support from
00:09:52Alcaida to plan the ureria attacks,
00:09:55pursuing what the believe was an ideology of strict
00:09:59Islamic governance, even though you add in the earlier reports that they
00:10:02wanted some their leaders and their members released as baging for those
00:10:06abducted. Secondly, internal communication, the three
00:10:10operative defendants stayed in active. contact with the fut
00:10:13commander holding the victims in the old forest and
00:10:16third and controversial move security agents arrested
00:10:20the wife the second defendant and relatives of other
00:10:24alleged commanders, the state allegedly
00:10:28used those detentions as leverage, warning of
00:10:31consequences if more hostages were killed and the executions
00:10:35reportedly stopped. now here's the profile the five
00:10:39men standing accused, mahmod muhammad, also
00:10:43known as Abu bara is the
00:10:46amia. abu bakar abbas uh, also known as Isa
00:10:50Adam, is h deputy and chief of staff, both were sentenced to life
00:10:53imprisonment, on July 20 earlier this year on
00:10:5732 accounts including terrorism financing, the three
00:11:01operatives, the three forest operatives, Abdul Razzaq
00:11:04Umar, Yunusa Musa and Shamsu
00:11:08Adamusani were sentence to live on July 23 after
00:11:11pleading guilty to six of 10 counts.
00:11:15Now all five phase a fresh seven count charge over
00:11:18theoreria abduction and indeed the murder of teachers
00:11:22and they have pleaded not.
00:11:25guilty now the prosecution describes uh about
00:11:29four phases which are very critical to this development,
00:11:33fourth phase cycle, phase one uh speaks about leadership
00:11:36arrests, the 2025 capture of Amir
00:11:40Abubaras and his deputy face to high
00:11:43profile targeting field retaliation including the November
00:11:472025 attack a law makers convoy and a planned
00:11:51assault on Wawa military base ph
00:11:55three is the relocation and abduction is shift to the southwest
00:11:59to amplify media pressure ending in the
00:12:02orary school attack and then there is phase for called
00:12:06the ultimatum, demand for the release of 30
00:12:10detained leaders uh with
00:12:12all stages threatened with execution. now this
00:12:16is the heart the case, the initial
00:12:19classification was rural criminality and
00:12:22banditry driven by locomotives and ransom, the
00:12:26courtroom account built on the testimony of
00:12:29witness BBB describes a Sahel Linked
00:12:33Jihadist campaign, explicit Al-Qaeda support, Islamic
00:12:37governance goals and hosted taken designed for political leverage
00:12:41and prisoner exchange. If the court accept this testimony, it creates
00:12:44a judicial and evidentiary anchor
00:12:48for organized terror networks operating in the
00:12:52southwest. Interesting days ahead from 56 days in
00:12:56the forest to a courtroom in Abuja, the ure case now carries
00:12:59weight far beyond one school. the five accused already seven
00:13:03lives terms still faces seven fresh count
00:13:07and the court's verdict on this case would decide whether the
00:13:11southwest is a potential terror frontier. no doubt the
00:13:15outcome will ship counter terrorism policy for years to
00:13:18come. let's our attention now to
00:13:22other stories we're covering on the news tonight, the minister of state. for health and
00:13:26social welfare Dr. Adikulle Salako says

00:14:17in December, early December. We know that
00:14:20antimicrobial resistance is one the greatest threats of
00:14:24our time. when an antimicrobials, antibiotics
00:14:28stop walking, routine infections can become very deadly
00:14:32and it affects millions of people all over the
00:14:36world and thousands and thousands of our people, children get
00:14:40afflicted when we fail to either
00:14:43anticipate or respond to the challenge being posed by
00:14:47antimicrobial resistance. i speak on behalf the federal minister of health
00:14:51and social welfare, federal minister of agriculture and

00:27:57Lagos, joining me on the news tonight
00:28:01is Council. chairman is also chairman planning committee the
00:28:04share aade
00:28:07banjo. welcome to tv news at 10. thank you, it's
00:28:11my pleasure to be here. what were the key issues that emerged from this
00:28:15colloquium today and what would you consider that's most significant take
00:28:18away? um, the key issues that we're patterning
00:28:22today at the
00:28:24show colloqueum were issues that um spoke to the future of
00:28:28young people and of course of our country. this
00:28:31discussed today. was a melting point of ideas, innovations
00:28:35around um AI, around education, around climate
00:28:38action and many more topical issues, I mean that speak
00:28:42to the coexistence of young people as to cause fertilization of
00:28:45ideas and of course demanding a stake on the table.
00:28:49what happens after the talks,
00:28:51you know, are there plans to follow up on this
00:28:54discussions and making them concrete initiatives?
00:28:58definitely, um, a community has been issued to that effect, and of course we have
00:29:01dataabase. of people, young people who are interested, who
00:29:05keep governizing and of course bring
00:29:08um um clusters of discourse around topical issues that emanated
00:29:12from the um colloquium today. when you hear shable
00:29:15colloquium, what does reminder you of? the
00:29:19it's it's a novel one, the first of his kind, and it reminds me the spirit
00:29:23the man we are celebrating, mr. shabu
00:29:26who, regardless of his position as being an enabler for young
00:29:30people, bearing in mind that it's not, easy to have a stake or to have
00:29:34seat at the table, but across the nation today,
00:29:38particularly um in lagus and other even northern states, he's been
00:29:41able to assist young people who have been toiling over the years to
00:29:45have seat at the table,
00:29:46and of course leveraging on what Mr.
00:29:48governor, just said, how
00:29:52many of us have the opportunity of paying him back? i use myself as
00:29:56case study for instance, what what could have brought
00:29:59a young man from public? institution
00:30:03public school, mean with a son of a former governor, now
00:30:06president together, he identified us and give us the opportunity, had been
00:30:10toiling like many other young people, mean you can look at the minister of youth so and many
00:30:14others really, he's been able to enable to give us
00:30:17seat at the table across the country, it doesn't remind you of
00:30:21bolatinua and perhaps why some of raised the question
00:30:25of whether there's a political objective behind these and
00:30:29considering the political climate as we approach 2020.
00:30:33no, he doesn't have any um, as far as I know for for now, he doesn't have
00:30:36any um political ambition as far as I know at least as of today, but to be
00:30:40selfish of us, those of us his assistant, and of course bearing in mind that we
00:30:44understand his ideology, to say of course let's expand the
00:30:48coast, bring young people on board, let's have the discourse, I mean and
00:30:52address issues that that mitigate their participation economic
00:30:55activities, and of course this is the way to go, so is this a one time
00:30:59event or?
