00:00:10At of tv and news, wherever
00:00:12the big news stories happening, we're get up to break
00:00:15it. News, first with
00:00:22of of breaking.
00:00:23of
00:00:32Thanks of for joining us on the program, everyone, a party can
00:00:36win a primary, present its candidate to the public and
00:00:40even begin preparing for an election, but what happens
00:00:44of when the candidate's name doesn't appear
00:00:47on inex finalist, and that's the
00:00:51of uncomfortable question
00:00:52of now confronting Nigeria's opposition, People's Democratic
00:00:55Party, as preparations gather momentum for the
00:00:582027 elections. latest lists have left out the PDP's
00:01:02governorship tickets in Ogun and Gombe States
00:01:05unrepresented with Ladia Debotu and Former Minister Isa
00:01:09Pantami missing from the publish lists in
00:01:13Karno, the NDC candidate Amino Goza is
00:01:16also absent while four parties have been left out of Bauch
00:01:20State's governorship list. The commission's publish list do not spell out
00:01:24the reason for this
00:01:26of individual omission. Sinogun Adible to insist it remains
00:01:29of a duly. registered PDP member saying his digital
00:01:32registration was completed and verified within the
00:01:36stipulated period and now alleges that the ruling APC
00:01:39mounted on due pressure on INEC. He also
00:01:43cites alleged restrictions on his campaign
00:01:46of bubts, of attacks at campaign grounds and harassment of
00:01:50party members. These are serious allegations, but the
00:01:54remain allegations, not established findings. The Ogun
00:01:57APC has rejected the PDP cl uh blame game,
00:02:01the controversy comes against the
00:02:03of backdrop of a protracted leadership struggle within the PDP,
00:02:07including the
00:02:08in rival camps associated uh with
00:02:11um some big names in politics and as well as the parties
00:02:15other leadership block, so is the PDP being
00:02:19of unfairly squeezed out
00:02:21of the electoral contest or are internal
00:02:24divisions and compliance failures still putting its own candidates at
00:02:28risk ?
00:02:53of
00:03:07Thank you for staying with us everyone, national publicity secretary
00:03:10of the PDP Hardina Mohammed joins me live on the show. Mr.
00:03:14Mohammed, welcome back on beyond
00:03:16of the headlines. Uh, INEC, as you're aware, as publish its
00:03:20final list, leaving out some of your candidates, Ladia
00:03:23Debutu and Isa Pantami, including their
00:03:26runningmates. Why, why has that happened? What explanation
00:03:30really are you getting from INEc for omiting the PDP
00:03:34from this list? Yeah, good evening
00:03:38uh good evening uh Nigerians, it's good
00:03:42of to be back on
00:03:43of your beyond the headlines program.
00:03:45Well, it
00:03:47of is shocking, it is disheartening and most
00:03:50disappointing that uh a political
00:03:54party after fulfilling all that is
00:03:57required uh to do.
00:04:00legally, and then finally, at this point
00:04:04a candidate or a political parties candidate will
00:04:07have
00:04:09a its own candidates omitted from the final list
00:04:13of of candidates who are built
00:04:16contest the 2027
00:04:19general election, it came to us as
00:04:23a great shock and uh, but as PDP
00:04:27that Nigerians know,
00:04:29we are used to this kind of
00:04:32uh uh obstacles and we have surmounted those in
00:04:36the past, this one to we will summon it. as a this
00:04:40morning, we have officially communicated in
00:04:44writing to the electoral empire,
00:04:48and at this point that I speak with you, there seem to
00:04:51be no concrete reason,
00:04:55whether legally, whether administratively, whatsoever,
00:04:59we have... not been given any reason as to why these
00:05:02names were omitted.
00:05:06we've been hearing some stakeholders, some
00:05:08of them are made reference to a Supreme Court um
00:05:12ruling in September that restored statutory
00:05:16provisions governing membership registers and
00:05:20participation and party primaries uh under the
00:05:23electoral act of 2026 and they've talked about
00:05:26compliance uh why compliance with this requirements matter
00:05:30ahead the election, has the PDP verified that
00:05:34its membership register and nomination processes in this
00:05:37affected states uh did fully comply with
00:05:41the law. and who are you holding accountable if
00:05:45they do not assuming, assuming that this
00:05:49is even the reason which we are not considering, why is it so
00:05:53difficult for INEc to come public by this hour the day to
00:05:57say this is the reason? did you go through the final list of this
00:06:00candidates across all elective positions? have you
00:06:04not seen names of other candidates in other
00:06:08political parties and even in the PDP that have moved
00:06:12from one political party to another, which
00:06:15if we want to go by what you are saying that
00:06:18it is the supreme court, the judgment that is likely to be the
00:06:22reason, why is it that those other candidates who are
00:06:26likely to be affected by this
00:06:29visible in this inec final list of
00:06:32candidates, so
00:06:34it is not about the supreme court decision,
00:06:37it is never, because
00:06:40i can authoritatively tell you that, "the PDP have
00:06:43complied fully, these two notable candidates of our party,
00:06:47professor Isa
00:06:49Ali Ibrahim from time and indeed his
00:06:52excellency,
00:06:56all have their names in our register that was duly
00:07:00submitted to INEC. INEC need to know and Nigerians need to
00:07:04know that INEC, after having a stakeholders meeting
00:07:08with political parties extended the deadline for the
00:07:11submission of. this party membership register,
00:07:15perhaps they must have made a mistake of looking
00:07:18into the first register that was submitted, because
00:07:22PDP submitted another register after the
00:07:25extension made by INEC, the records are there, Nigerians
00:07:29know when I extended that deadline for the submission
00:07:33of parties membership register, so it
00:07:37is not about the Supreme Court
00:07:39decision, really
00:07:43no, and nobody can tell us that it is about supreme court decision,
00:07:47but Mr. Muhammed, have you have you specifically requested
00:07:51an explanation from Minec? We did,
00:07:54we did verbally and we had the course to submit in writing
00:07:58today, and no one seem to understand what
00:08:01exactly, and we need to know that INEc does not have the
00:08:05unilateral power to remove the name of
00:08:08candidate from from
00:08:10from the...
00:08:13the the list after duly passing the nomination processes and does not
00:08:17have such powers to do so and what what what
00:08:20will surprise this party and indeed nigerians and
00:08:24particularly the candidates is that when i
00:08:28make published the particulars of
00:08:31candidates sometimes back these names were
00:08:35there so what happened in between at
00:08:39what point and you didn't see this
00:08:43coming, not at all, not at all, that is
00:08:47why it is so shocking to us, let us let us take ogun state, for
00:08:50instance, um, the question is, how does the party explain the
00:08:54controversy over Ade Butu's membership register,
00:08:58because um, he did say he completed his digital
00:09:01registration on time, that he even received the printed membership
00:09:05card and had his membership verified before his documentation was
00:09:09submitted to INEC, the question would be, whether
00:09:13you have documentary evidence showing that his name was submitted
00:09:17within the statutory deadline? absolutely,
00:09:20absolutely. we have responsible political party. we
00:09:24cannot come out and mislead Nigerians that his name is not on the
00:09:28register when we cannot, we can't say his name is on the register when it
00:09:32is not. so we are telling you
00:09:34authoritatively that his name was on the
00:09:37register and is presently in the register
00:09:41and that is why i'm make reference to the fact that
00:09:44perhaps the human error, because the
00:09:48party PDP complied in submitting
00:09:51the parties membership register when i gave
00:09:55the first timeline, we did, and then there was
00:09:59extension of which we sent a
00:10:01supplementary membership register, so
00:10:05the insinuations were that are the able to registered
00:10:09under the turaiki then faction of... the
00:10:12PDP, if at all he has done that, I want to tell you that
00:10:16before we submit name of candidate or we even
00:10:20clear a candidate, we scruttonize this documents, we make sure
00:10:24that to register appropriately with the
00:10:27right register
00:10:31the party that will be recognized by enec and he has fully
00:10:35complied with that and we have all the evidences there is
00:10:39why it is most shocking to us, there's
00:10:41another version
00:10:41to the story and i want to
00:10:43get your reaction on it, they have said that these two individuals possibly aren't
00:10:46in the good books the national leader of your party, that's why they've been
00:10:50omited, how do you react to? no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
00:10:54no, no, "it has nothing to do with being in the good books the
00:10:58minister, the party is a party that is open for
00:11:02every nigerian who is interested in joining the party. the
00:11:06minister does not influence who gets this, get what's within the party,
00:11:10no, he allows the national working committee to decide
00:11:14what happens in line with the provisions the party's constitution, and
00:11:17Mr. adebut has complied, purchased his nomination
00:11:21form, went through the screening processes. he was
00:11:25cleared, the primaries was were conducted, he had his documents
00:11:29and everything submitted to anec within time, and that was why I
00:11:32said INEc published his particulars when
00:11:36it was the time for publication of
00:11:40candidates particulars and I did that, so it has nothing to
00:11:44do with being in the camp of Mr. A and Mr. B and I want to
00:11:48tell you that there is a good
00:11:51relationship between the minister and every member the...
00:11:55GDP, there's no animosity
00:11:57whatsoever, so all like
00:12:01your position that the party doesn't know
00:12:04why INEc has omitted this name, Mr. Adible to has
00:12:08alleged that the APC mounted on due pressure
00:12:12on INEC, uh, he's also added
00:12:14restriction to his campaign bbard, he talked
00:12:18about his supporters facing attacks at campaign grounds and
00:12:22harassment and what have you, is that your part? his position as well
00:12:26that this is the handy work the
00:12:28APC, well at
00:12:31at the moment, like I said earlier a TV
00:12:34appearance I I made this morning that Mr.
00:12:38Adebutu is the personal residing in his own
00:12:42state and he knows very much
00:12:45better than any other person, the intrics
00:12:48playing behind the undertones, but we as leaders
00:12:52the party what we are. expected what is expected of
00:12:56us to do is to engage inec to get first hand
00:13:00information and not to deal with speculation. in as much as we
00:13:04want to agree with adebut that
00:13:07there are some undertons and certain
00:13:10influence, but we will prefer that let
00:13:14come clean and tell us exactly, and until that is
00:13:18done then we will be forced to believe
00:13:22and agree with adebot, but
00:13:25as as it is now, we want to keep all allegations
00:13:28aside, we want to take inec on this matter, let
00:13:32them come clean, let them account, let let them tell us what
00:13:35exactly are the issues, matter of this
00:13:39magnitude shouldn't make shouldn't be be,
00:13:43shouldn't take this long for ineck to come and see this
00:13:47is this and this and this and that, in this serious matter, is national
00:13:51issue, in short, the PDP disagrees with adibut.
00:13:55allegation that this is APC mountain pressure on
00:13:59inec right? no, no, no, no, no, not not absolutely
00:14:03disagreeing with him, not absolutely disagreeing with him,
00:14:06when you look at the momentum, the
00:14:10clouds, the support to is getting, and
00:14:13equally the cloud and momentum fantany is getting
00:14:17from gombi, you you,
00:14:21you will be forced to believe anything that...
00:14:25comes to your ears, but officially what
00:14:29we want to get from INEC is what is
00:14:32truly responsible for this omission, but not certainly
00:14:36about membership, all right or
00:14:40lack of compliance with the extent loss, certainly not
00:14:44that, let us allow inec, let us allow inek to
00:14:48come out and tell us what exactly are the issues, working
00:14:52committee, okay, let us go a short break.
00:14:55And then when we return we're going to continue this conversation. Stay with
00:14:59us
00:14:59everyone.
00:16:25jungudo Aruna Muhammad is the national publicity
00:16:28secretary the PDP who joins us today on
00:16:32beyond the headlines thank you for staying the cause on the program I'm wondering if
00:16:36you are beyond inquiries, the formal inquiries you've made if you are pursuing
00:16:40formal representations, cought action or
00:16:43another remedy, and given that INEC has now
00:16:47published what it calls its final list, what legal
00:16:51options remain without violating the
00:16:55electoral timetable? well,
00:16:58the the list may appear final, but I can tell you it cannot be
00:17:02final, because it cannot be final when two of
00:17:05our most important candidates names is
00:17:08omitted from that list and we have
00:17:11given inex a timeline within which we expect
00:17:15them to come clean to either correct their errors own up
00:17:19to their mistakes, correct the errors and include
00:17:23the names these candidates, we are not asking for apologies,
00:17:27we are not asking for any long English, what we are demanding
00:17:30is include these names as far
00:17:34as they have complied,
00:17:37fully, but if iine feel they have a
00:17:40contrary position which is
00:17:44superior, then it shouldn't take them more
00:17:47than 24 hours, 48 hours to give us
00:17:51their reasons, and if this reasons are not convincing, we will
00:17:55be left with no option than to explore all avenues
00:17:59on how to seek redress about this
00:18:02abnormalities, about
00:18:04this omissions.
00:18:08"uh, we cannot afford to lose Gombi, we cannot afford to lose Ogun. They
00:18:12are very, very precious to us and we cannot afford to lose any
00:18:16candidate of our party who has fully complied with
00:18:20extent laws, who have fully complied with all
00:18:24regulations and guidelines. If you are to answer honestly,
00:18:27how much of this crisis would you say is a consequence the
00:18:31PDP's prolonged leadership struggle uh, particularly the disp
00:18:35between the different camps." for now, not at
00:18:39all, the disputes that has lingered within the party does
00:18:43not have any consequences or any bearing on what we
00:18:47are facing at the moment, because we have field
00:18:50candidates across all elective positions from
00:18:54across uh 28, 36 states and fct
00:18:58in this country, so
00:19:01if if all the candidates we have
00:19:04fielded are listed on the IN
00:19:08list of candidates for 2027 elections and we have just a
00:19:12handful, you cannot attribute this to the
00:19:16internal disputes within within the
00:19:20party, because till today you will realize
00:19:23that the agrieved
00:19:26turaki people are still having
00:19:30a couple of people who are identifying themselves as
00:19:34candidates to the PDP, whereas they are not,
00:19:37thank to thanks to the
00:19:39the the list published by by inec
00:19:42we want to believe by now they will uh begin to think
00:19:45of what to do and not to continue to part themselves
00:19:49as candidates the party so the internal squabbles do
00:19:53not have any bearing on this
00:19:56omission your your party has
00:20:00spent has spent considerable time contesting leadership
00:20:04legitimacy and control and there are some who have um argue
00:20:07that perhaps that struck will as weakened coordination
00:20:11between national leadership and state chapters, leaving some of your
00:20:15candidates exposed to avoidable legal and administrative
00:20:18problems. you don't agree to that? do not agree to
00:20:22this absolutely. one thing you need to take note of is
00:20:26that if there were internal administrative lapses or
00:20:30lack of cohesion
00:20:33unity from within the PDP, the names
00:20:36of and fantaini wouldn't have been
00:20:40published by the particulars would not have been published
00:20:44by Ac issue and
00:20:48when the Federal High Court go be ordered or nollified
00:20:52the first primaries and ordered for a fresh primaries,
00:20:55monitored the primaries and we submitted the names of fantami
00:20:59after
00:21:07Mr. Haruna Mohammed is the national publicity
00:21:10secretary the PDP who has
00:21:14just established on the show today that the party has no
00:21:18idea why both pantamis and adibotus
00:21:21name are absent from inex final list of
00:21:25governorship candidates. he also mentioned that the party has now
00:21:28officially written inec and is given him a time frame
00:21:32to reply. he also believes that PDP will
00:21:36virtually your have candidates in the
00:21:39forthcoming election. in og look
00:21:43at the publish list contains 13
00:21:46governorship candidates but no PDP.
00:21:50ticket and in gombe the PDP is also absent from
00:21:53the from the published list. Mr. Mohammed, we lost you for a
00:21:57minute, but I'm wondering what you what the contingency
00:22:00plans are. Let us assume without
00:22:03conceeding that this decision stand, right, that this omission
00:22:07stand uh, what message do you have for supporters
00:22:11who actually have fears uh that their votes may be
00:22:15taken out the contest before election
00:22:17day.
00:22:34but already we're hearing from, local quarters
00:22:38in Ogun for instance, where the PDP candidate is
00:22:42assuring is supporters that this
00:22:45is just detor and not an end to his
00:22:50um election campaigns and he believes strongly
00:22:53that has made a mistake and that is going to get his name
00:22:56back on that list. prior to this time
00:23:00we've had conversations about unresolved leadership disputes
00:23:04within the PDP, questions about candidate eligibility
00:23:08and
00:23:08you had the PDP national public state secretary saying that even
00:23:12up until today there are still candidates so claim to be on the ballot
00:23:16from from the other uh camp and now
00:23:20omissions from inects, how will this
00:23:24impact on the PDP organizing
00:23:27itself as um uh a formidable
00:23:31opposition in this election, and why should voters believe um the
00:23:35party can organize itself internally, select candidates
00:23:38lawfully, mount an effective challenge to the APC,
00:23:42those are the concerns that have reason following this annex
00:23:46finalist, but um quick... Mr.
00:23:50Mohammed, we have to go now, what, what would you
00:23:54say to supporters of your party in Ugua and Gombe who are
00:23:57truly concerned and who fear that, this
00:24:01might be the reality going into this election?
00:24:05Yes, I want to assure our party supporters and the candidates
00:24:09and Nigerians that the party is top of this matter and
00:24:13we will leave nose turn on turn until we make sure that these candidates
00:24:17and oters who were inadvadently. whether it
00:24:21is also deliberate
00:24:23calculation
00:24:30is the national public secretary the PDP,
00:24:33thankfully we're able to have robust conversation with him
00:24:37earlier on before we lost touch with him via
00:24:40zoom, it's a development story and we'll continue to
00:24:44follow these very closely to see how it impact on
00:24:48the parties out in in in this concerned
00:24:51state as far
00:24:52as 2027 is concerned. I am Nife here, thanks for watching
00:24:56today.
00:25:33every day across forests, highways, towns and villages,
00:25:37brave men and women stand watch so that Nigeria can sleep, they
00:25:41leave their families behind, confront danger head on and make
00:25:45sacrifices many of us will never see, yet the enemies
00:25:49of our nation... continue their assault, they target our children,
00:25:53they murder innocent citizens, they force families from their
00:25:56homes, they turn thriving communities into places of
00:26:00fear and uncertainty the goal is simple:
00:26:04to break our spirit, divide our people and steal the
00:26:08future of our nation, but Nigeria is stronger than
00:26:11terror, as we demand greater accountability, stronger security
00:26:15measures and more effective action from those entrusted with our safety,
00:26:19we must also play our part, support our security
00:26:23forces, salute their galantry, stand with those
00:26:26stand for us, if you see something, say
00:26:30something, let us be our brothers, keeper, we must
00:26:34never surrender to fear, despare or hopelessness. This
00:26:38is not the time for division, not by tribe, not by
00:26:42religion, not by region, not by
00:26:45political party, because terror recognizes no
00:26:48ethnicity, no faith, and no ideology. its
00:26:52enemy is all of us
00:26:54and together, united as one people, we can defeat
00:26:57it for our children, for our communities, for
00:27:01our future. for Nigeria, join the
00:27:05movement, stand for our country, stand for one
00:27:08another, hashtag unite against
00:27:12terror,
00:27:20good morning everyone, it's a new day, hi alamy day, hey guys,

00:30:34In Nigerian politics, the backing of state governors can be a
00:30:38significant factor in shaping electoral strategy, mobilizing
00:30:42its political structure and consolidating support across
00:30:45regions. The six APC governors in the north central region have
00:30:49endorsed president and vice president Kashim Shatima for
00:30:53second term in 2027. The endorsement brings Benway Kogi
00:30:56Kuara, Nasarawa Niger and plateau states into a collective.
