00:00:00The President of the United States announces: "Moscow and Kyiv have agreed to
00:00:04an energy ceasefire, which is to take effect
00:00:07immediately. Ukraine welcomes the declaration,
00:00:11but immediately after its announcement the Russians strike
00:00:14a power plant in Kharkiv. So what is this truce
00:00:17about? We connect with Piotr Kaszuwara, who is in
00:00:21Cherkasy. Good morning Piotr. This
00:00:24declaration, which I mentioned, is not Trump's only declaration. He also
00:00:27wants Ukraine to hold elections
00:00:31for a new president in the country, and it's not the first time he's said it. What do
00:00:35the Ukrainians
00:00:35say about all this?
00:00:39In Ukraine, there are primarily great fears about what this
00:00:43situation might lead to, because
00:00:46there is a possibility that
00:00:48if Kyiv does not agree to these
00:00:52proposals from Washington and Moscow, and
00:00:55much indicates that this is the case, then
00:00:58it may turn out that soon... the United States will stop
00:01:01supplying weapons to Ukraine or
00:01:04will also stop providing
00:01:06intelligence information, which includes
00:01:10data on when and where the next
00:01:13Russian drones and next Russian
00:01:17missiles will strike. We can indeed
00:01:20see that these attacks are not ceasing. These latest
00:01:23reports from Washington are very
00:01:27puzzling, because it seems...
00:01:30the chronology of events is quite important here, because
00:01:35so that these immediately after Jerad Kushner and Steve Witkoff's visit to Moscow a few
00:01:38weeks ago, we first heard from the United
00:01:42States that it was Ukraine that was
00:01:46to blame for the global
00:01:48price increases in oil markets. It was then that
00:01:52for the first time such unequivocal appeals appeared from
00:01:56Donald Trump's administration, that Ukraine should stop attacking.
00:02:00Russian
00:02:03Russian oil, Russian energy
00:02:06infrastructure. There was no agreement on this,
00:02:10until Russia also
00:02:13stopped attacking Ukraine's energy
00:02:17infrastructure. Shortly after,
00:02:19we received information that the United
00:02:22States and Donald Trump announced
00:02:25a gigantic deal that could reach up to eight
00:02:29billion dollars for the purchase of Russian
00:02:33oil. And even earlier, it was precisely
00:02:36Donald Trump who signed these infernal sanctions, which
00:02:40were to be imposed not only on Russia, but also on
00:02:43those countries that wanted to buy from
00:02:47the Russians. These sanctions were not
00:02:50imposed, which was met with criticism from
00:02:53American senators. Additionally,
00:02:56now it is the United
00:02:58such acts. We should be aware that States that is the country that will be supplied
00:03:02with Russian oil. Negotiations were
00:03:05ongoing at the same time between the United States and
00:03:09Ukraine. On Friday and Saturday, a Ukrainian
00:03:12delegation was in Miami, but immediately after Donald
00:03:16Trump's decision, this agreement with
00:03:19the Kremlin regarding oil, the Ukrainians
00:03:23decided to leave the United States and broke off
00:03:26these talks.
00:03:29And immediately after that, we heard from
00:03:33Donald Trump that perhaps it is time
00:03:36for Volodymyr Zelensky to stop being the president of
00:03:40Ukraine and a candidate should be found who will be able to
00:03:44come to an agreement with Russia. Volodymyr Zelensky stated that
00:03:47as soon as the Americans manage to negotiate at least 60
00:03:51days of peace, he is open to
00:03:55holding elections. Now he says
00:03:58similarly, if Russia stops attacking our
00:04:02infrastructure, our energy infrastructure, we are also
00:04:05open to not attacking Russia's oil
00:04:08infrastructure. We await what the next days will bring, because indeed
00:04:12the Ukrainian government confirms that immediately after Donald Trump's words
00:04:16Russia broke this
00:04:17agreement.
00:04:20About this from Cherkasy, Piotr
00:04:24Kaszuwara. Thank you very much, Piotr. Celestyna
00:04:27Grzebyta is in the studio to tell
00:04:30you about what kind of day we will have today. It's almost 8:40
00:04:34on the clocks, so it's
00:04:36much clearer now than it was just a moment ago. Yes, that's
00:04:40right, the sun has risen and is shining beautifully in southern Poland. We have
00:04:44quite a few such places where the sun is
00:04:47breaking through the clouds. It's different in the center and in the
00:04:50north, where there's heavy cloud cover, and rainfall is occurring,
00:04:54stronger, especially in some places on the coast.
00:04:57Today, on the coast, even forecasters
00:05:02do not rule out local thunderstorms. It may also thunder in some places in Warmia. Apart
00:05:06from that, there aren't many clearings, but they will mainly
00:05:09appear in southern Poland.
00:05:12We will be bothered by a somewhat stronger wind at times,
00:05:15especially in the south and center of the country. The strongest gusts
00:05:19are forecast for the coast, up to about 50 km/h, and
00:05:23high in the Sudetes up to 70 km/h.
00:05:26It is possible that it will snow high in the Sudetes.
00:05:30Pressure is rising, and biometeorological
00:05:33conditions, unfortunately due to
00:05:36such bad weather, are unfavorable throughout the country today,
00:05:40although in the south they may become indifferent when
00:05:43there is a supply of this beautiful
00:05:46sun, when it will be warm for us, so in the
00:05:50afternoon hours there it will be quite comfortable, pleasant in the
00:05:53sun, about 14 degrees in the shade. It will be
00:05:57warmer in the middle of the week, even 17-18
00:06:00degrees in the west, so there is still a chance for warming.
00:06:03Such a day awaits us, thanks
00:06:07to Celestyna.
00:06:10Police are patrolling schools
00:06:12and checking if students are safe. This is a reaction to knife
00:06:16attacks and further threats. Izabela
00:06:19Kozdraś is in Szczecin. Izabela, where are the checks being carried out, and what
00:06:23actions are the
00:06:24officers taking?
00:06:28Checks are conducted both outside the school, but also
00:06:31when the break begins, then
00:06:35a police patrol enters inside to, among
00:06:38other things, also check surveillance, to also move
00:06:42among. children, by the way, we will show you how it works in
00:06:45practice. At the moment, as you can see, the police are outside
00:06:49the school. The first
00:06:52lesson is still in progress at this moment, but as soon as the
00:06:55bell rings, the police will enter the
00:06:58facility to patrol inside. This is all of course in
00:07:01agreement with the director of the school. The director
00:07:05makes the final decision on how these patrols should
00:07:08look, where children most often spend time during breaks?
00:07:12Whether it's on the playground, or right here around the school, and then
00:07:16a police patrol appears there during the break. Somewhere in the entire
00:07:20country, over 2,000 officers are
00:07:23around schools to ensure the safety of students
00:07:27and, of course, the safety of school staff
00:07:30as well. And it's supposed to be like
00:07:32that indefinitely. This action will be
00:07:36maintained until it is
00:07:39necessary. Today it is necessary with absolute certainty... because
00:07:43a clear message is needed,
00:07:47that there will be no consent for any
00:07:50attacks on Polish children, there will be no consent for such
00:07:53anarchization of public
00:07:55life.
00:07:59It is worth emphasizing that police officers will also be
00:08:02able to check a student's backpack if they determine that
00:08:06their behavior causes any concern or
00:08:09may pose a threat to students and, of course,
00:08:13to the staff of a given school. They can also control people who
00:08:16are in the close vicinity of educational institutions, if
00:08:20they also determine that a given person may pose a threat, because
00:08:24their behavior is simply uncertain. And
00:08:27that's how it looks in schools. I spoke with parents
00:08:30this morning who were taking their children to school, and everyone
00:08:34admits that due to these dangerous situations that
00:08:37have occurred recently in schools, such patrols should
00:08:41exist. They feel safe, they also
00:08:44feel that safety for their children, so in their opinion
00:08:48patrols should be in place to guarantee
00:08:51peace, and of course everything should be carried out with
00:08:55caution. I think that in light of recent
00:08:58situations, this is good, but we all, as parents and
00:09:01society, should work to ensure that our children don't have
00:09:05such ideas. This is a great idea, let's hope
00:09:08that such patrols deter potential...
00:09:12individuals who are planning something. We feel cared for
00:09:15when it comes to police
00:09:18patrols. I think that perhaps in high schools it would be better if the police patrolled
00:09:21in plain clothes, I don't know how that is with the regulations. Definitely yes, I think
00:09:25that everyone will be safer, whether at work or at home, and children always
00:09:29feel better with the police.
00:09:29czują,
00:09:33Not only patrols, of course, around schools, but also
00:09:37police officers are combing the internet, primarily online
00:09:40forums, but also social media, and they are to pay
00:09:44attention, especially to people who are fascinated by violence,
00:09:47aggression, computer games, but also to those who
00:09:51post various entries on the internet that
00:09:54incite
00:09:55aggression.
00:09:58Izabela Kozdraś from Szczecin, thank you Izabela.
00:10:02A man who planned an assassination attempt on Prime Minister Donald Tusk and
00:10:05Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Ministry of National Defense, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, was arrested in
00:10:09Lower Silesia. He is a 60-year-old man.
00:10:25on the internet, but procedural actions are still
00:10:28ongoing, this person's contacts are being
00:10:32investigated. It seems that this is a person from very radical groups,
00:10:35establishing very radical contacts with various
00:10:39people through the internet. This is a person
00:10:42who was very, very active on
00:10:45various extreme groups,
00:10:49proclaiming extreme views and
00:10:51who, well, had, as I said, numerous...
00:10:55contacts.
00:10:57And we'll stick to this topic, but we'll also
00:11:01address others with our guest, Professor Renata Mieńkowska
00:11:05Norkiene, political scientist Team Europe Direct. Good
00:11:08morning. Good morning to you, editor, good morning to all.
00:11:12Let's start with this foiled, it all
00:11:16indicates, assassination attempt on Prime Minister Donald
00:11:19Tusk and Deputy Prime Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
00:11:22In your opinion, should we? treat this
00:11:26matter solely in terms of
00:11:29security, or also as a symptom
00:11:32of the, well, absolute
00:11:35division we are experiencing in Poland?
00:11:37Well, undoubtedly we have in
00:11:41Poland both this infamous polarization, although I would
00:11:45prefer not to call it so
00:11:47abstractly, because polarization is of course a scientific term,
00:11:51but the truth is that it's about people who...
00:11:55care about dividing Polish society
00:12:00divisions later translate into very specific actions
00:12:04that are intended to strengthen specific political options and weaken
00:12:07others, so very specific people are responsible
00:12:10for this, and in this regard, indeed,
00:12:14I believe, even though the opposition claims
00:12:18that this matter was unnecessarily sensationalized,
00:12:20that such things should be talked about,
00:12:24because it is a certain
00:12:27resultant of very various phenomena, besides this polarization that
00:12:30we are talking about here, there is also the issue of radicalization on the internet.
00:12:34This is an issue that we should talk about a lot, because in my
00:12:38opinion, it is now one of the most urgent, most
00:12:41pressing problems, especially in view of what is happening
00:12:45on our eastern border, because this radicalization of moods is,
00:12:48of course, fueled by
00:12:51Russian disinformation, but also here, I think not all...
00:12:55parents, because you started with a report concerning Polish
00:12:58schools and this radicalization of students, young
00:13:02people, but now also what is happening in terms of
00:13:04this planned attack on the Prime Minister
00:13:08and the Minister of Defense, it is true
00:13:12that these internet activities provide a breeding ground
00:13:15for such radicals who can then go so
00:13:19far as to commit
00:13:23algorithms also contribute to this. And radicalization also
00:13:27contributes to it, which sometimes results not
00:13:31from ill will or someone's searches,
00:13:34but for example, a young person entering the internet, even
00:13:38searching for neutral content, is often
00:13:41directed by algorithms more and more radically, unfortunately much
00:13:44more often to the right than remaining somewhere
00:13:48in the center or to the left, so in my opinion, this is a very, very
00:13:51big problem, which is a certain resultant of various
00:13:55complex phenomena. In a situation
00:13:58like this, where we are dealing with
00:14:01reports of a planned attack on one of the most important people in
00:14:04the state, it would seem that we can
00:14:08count on the fact that such divisions, which we know
00:14:11exist in Poland, will not
00:14:14matter, that we can count on some cross-party solidarity,
00:14:18however, even in this case, voices are emerging
00:14:22from the opposition that...
00:14:25mockingly refer to these reports related to
00:14:29the threat to the security of the Prime Minister or
00:14:32Deputy Prime Minister. How would you comment on this? Well,
00:14:36this is, of course, one of the elements of this polarization, but it also
00:14:40shows a certain hypocrisy of the current
00:14:43opposition, because I would just like to remind you that when there were
00:14:47similar situations, we did not
00:14:50yet have a war across the border, we did not
00:14:53yet have these small
00:14:55algorithms, the current
00:14:59opposition, in every situation of some threat,
00:15:02immediately raised an alarm that it was a very
00:15:05serious matter, but now suddenly it turns out that the matter is not
00:15:09serious, despite of course, in their opinion, i.e.,
00:15:13representatives of the opposition, despite the fact that we know perfectly
00:15:17well that such
00:15:19situations are not entirely neutral when it comes to
00:15:23our enemy, meaning our enemy certainly rejoices in every such
00:15:27situation, and rejoices all the more, the
00:15:30more such situations divide society. Our
00:15:34enemy is obviously Russia, but also all those who
00:15:38cooperate with Russia. Unfortunately, these algorithms that we are talking
00:15:41about here are not neutral algorithms, but they are algorithms
00:15:45that support, unfortunately, such disinformation
00:15:48and also support Russian propaganda, to put it simply. I will tell you, editor,
00:15:52honestly, that the scandal with Yandex, I don't know if you mentioned
00:15:55it on air, but it's a situation that
00:15:58shows that when it's possible to turn off, turn off
00:16:01in inverted commas, but when steps
00:16:05are taken to limit
00:16:08this algorithm madness, these algorithm
00:16:12actions, but also Russian disinformation,
00:16:15then suddenly many political profiles and
00:16:18political pages that support
00:16:22very specific, in this case, far-right political forces
00:16:26in Poland, suddenly their support drops. In short, there is
00:16:29a reduced number of bots
00:16:32that generate traffic on the internet. It is already said that around
00:16:3660% are bots. When there are no internet
00:16:39trolls, because they are disconnected, it suddenly
00:16:42turns out that this support and all this traffic on
00:16:46the internet suddenly decreases a lot, right? So it is not
00:16:49that it is completely politically neutral, and therefore the opposition should
00:16:53rather support the current
00:16:56rulers to somehow organize this internet, rather than
00:16:59throwing a wrench in the works. As we know, not only the opposition, but also the
00:17:03president, with his veto, in this specific
00:17:06case, right? That is, this law
00:17:10or this right, which is to help implement European law
00:17:14in the area of the safety of Poles on the internet, well,
00:17:17such a veto certainly does not help. Professor,
00:17:21the topic of Pegasus is back. Today, the parliamentary
00:17:24investigative committee on Pegasus is to present the
00:17:28public part of the report on the functioning of
00:17:31this system. Also, the National Prosecutor's Office today posted
00:17:35a statement regarding various irregularities in the use of this
00:17:38software. What do you expect in the coming days
00:17:42regarding this topic?
00:17:45I mean, I don't expect any
00:17:48very big surprises. There is reportedly a list
00:17:52of politicians, even those from the front pages of newspapers,
00:17:55who will probably be held
00:17:59accountable, probably a group of people
00:18:02who are not politicians, but who will also bear
00:18:06responsibility, at least... reports will be sent to the prosecutor's office,
00:18:09of course. However, I
00:18:12think that the discussion about Pegasus is important now, because it
00:18:15somewhat fits into the whole large discussion we are having about
00:18:19our security. This is
00:18:23after all one of its elements, right? That is,
00:18:26the use of various tools for political struggle instead of
00:18:29caring for real security. This is also
00:18:32something that should function in the public
00:18:35sphere, and Poles should be aware of how it was
00:18:38implemented, what we were dealing
00:18:42with. To this are added such
00:18:45minor threads, but they will not be
00:18:48completely insignificant, editor, because they will also influence
00:18:51our collective imagination, let's put it that
00:18:55way, like the fact that the Israeli
00:18:58company actually had control over
00:19:01data concerning very many such, very
00:19:05delicate and sensitive matters for...
00:19:07security, so I think that here too a few such threads
00:19:11that are important also from an international perspective will probably
00:19:14be raised, albeit very cautiously, I suppose, but well,
00:19:17the responsibility of Zbigniew Ziobro, people from his entourage, also
00:19:21once again must be emphasized,
00:19:24because in some sense this is also
00:19:28this legacy from the previous
00:19:30government, with which it still unfortunately cannot cope entirely, the current
00:19:34ruling
00:19:38political option. But here, the President certainly does not help either.
00:19:42So let's see to what extent this will really be
00:19:45a topic that will perhaps overshadow some other topics, for
00:19:49example, the issue of Mr. Kołodziejczak. Well, various topics are appearing
00:19:53in the public sphere from the opposition, which are supposed to somehow
00:19:56divert attention from what is happening in Polish schools,
00:20:00from the planned attack on
00:20:03the Prime Minister and Minister Kośiniak, Kamysz. So this will probably
00:20:08once again focus attention on what the opposition,
00:20:11when it was still in power, what
00:20:15still, well, some responsibility rests
00:20:19with the opposition for failing to fulfill certain duties in
00:20:23the area of Poles' security. Professor
00:20:26Renata Mieńkowska Norkiene, political scientist at Team Europe Direct,
00:20:29was a guest on TVP Info's morning show. Thank you very much, Professor. Thank
00:20:32you very much, Editor. About Polish
00:20:35schools, they say no to hate.
00:20:37Students and teachers together oppose peer aggression,
00:20:41cyberbullying, and the growing anxiety among
00:20:44young people. A very current topic. Wiktoria
00:20:47Marszałek is in Opole. Good morning Wiktoria. Tell
00:20:50us more about what good things are happening
00:20:53in Opole.
00:20:57We are at High School No. 3, where preparations are underway
00:21:00for tomorrow's protest, and as the
00:21:03teachers told me, they didn't have to convince
00:21:07the students much, who decided to get involved and say
00:21:10a firm no to this violence that
00:21:13has appeared in schools recently. They are currently making
00:21:17banners to express their.
00:21:20opposition, so we ask the
00:21:23youth themselves why they decided to react
00:21:26in this way. We wanted to make an act
00:21:29of solidarity with the victims of violence in recent days, because we are not
00:21:33indifferent. School and online safety is important to us.
00:21:37Do you notice such spaces where
00:21:40this violence might be dangerous and
00:21:43escalating? Mainly on social media, on various
00:21:46servers, on TikTok, because simply...
00:21:50all content is available and everyone is
00:21:53anonymous. Comments are simply a wave of hate, it is simply
00:21:56inappropriate, and as children we have to behave like
00:22:00adults, adults politicians and the government
00:22:03behave like children and we are talking about
00:22:06it loudly and we want to express it. Beautifully
00:22:08said, and I will ask then how to react and if
00:22:12you have the strength to set boundaries, if
00:22:15you see that this violence is happening whether in school corridors, but
00:22:19also... Definitely do not react to it, do not worry
00:22:23about it, because people will talk, people will gossip,
00:22:27you just have to swallow your saliva and move on, think about
00:22:30yourself, focus on your goal, because that is
00:22:34the most important thing. What slogans will be on the
00:22:37cardboard, written on the cardboard? We wanted to convey that our
00:22:40second home, which is referred to as a school, is not a place
00:22:44of hate, violence, hatred, because as, for example, an older
00:22:47sister, all Friday I thought about whether my
00:22:50younger sister is safe in elementary school. No, we
00:22:53shouldn't be dealing with that at school, school, school is for
00:22:57learning, gaining knowledge, not worrying about whether someone will
00:23:01stab me,
00:23:04You see, you hear, how wise our youth is
00:23:07in high schools and not only,
00:23:10and tomorrow a protest will resound here. It will be a silent
00:23:14protest, but in the background of this protest, Niemen's
00:23:17song, "Strange is this world," will play, which perfectly
00:23:20reflects the mood in schools throughout
00:23:24Poland.

00:23:31break. At 9:00 we'll be back with the news.
