00:00:00surroundings is on
00:00:03the Romanian coast, especially during holidays, in July and August when
00:00:07Romanians stay for at least four or five nights, if not
00:00:10more, and in the case of spa resorts, when tourists go for
00:00:14recovery and for treatment.
00:00:17Otherwise, that's it, even if more and more Romanians have started
00:00:20to choose three, four or five nights in the mountains and in the case
00:00:24of rural tourism, most stay for a
00:00:27weekend or at most two nights. You
00:00:30emphasized, you emphasized at the beginning that we should attract more
00:00:34foreign tourists and you gave the example of Bulgaria, but specifically what should
00:00:37hoteliers and authorities change so that
00:00:40Romanian tourism becomes attractive? Well,
00:00:43first of all, we need a much more coherent promotion strategy. We have something
00:00:47to offer, but about 30 million euros should be invested
00:00:51annually in promotion. We need a coherent strategy, perhaps also a new
00:00:54tourist brand, because 16 years have already passed
00:00:57since the previous brand. The famous brand with the leaf, it's good
00:01:01that we had it because it was still the first tourist brand and
00:01:04with a brand book, but I think we should create a more
00:01:08modern brand, we would need a
00:01:12destination management organization at national
00:01:14level, based on a real public
00:01:17private partnership, concrete tourist products to
00:01:21promote, travel agencies participate in international
00:01:24fairs, the Ministry of Tourism also has
00:01:27stands, but it is not enough, the budget is unfortunately
00:01:31small, even if it is double compared to last year, now it is
00:01:34almost 5 million euros budget for
00:01:37marketing
00:01:39and tourism promotion, but again, we need a much larger
00:01:42budget, and the results would be very good, billions of
00:01:47way. We are not yet talking about euros could come in additionally to the national budget by attracting
00:01:50foreign tourists, an increase in the incoming
00:01:54chapter, attracting foreign tourists year on year, somewhere around 7-8% after
00:01:57the pandemic, but from a little.
00:02:00We have about 2.5 million foreign tourists, the potential would be at the current
00:02:04time 6-7 million, we would have where to receive them, we would have where to
00:02:07accommodate them, yes, the numbers look good, but there
00:02:11are also other numbers that do not look as good, it was a difficult year for
00:02:14Romanian tourism, at least in terms of
00:02:18revenue, there are economic pressures that hoteliers
00:02:21obviously feel, those from Horeca
00:02:25as a whole feel them, and people feel them in
00:02:28their pockets. The question is for 2027 what expectations
00:02:32do you have, I know there were several requests
00:02:35addressed to the government to do
00:02:39something about holiday vouchers, for
00:02:41example. Yes, it would count a lot if holiday
00:02:45vouchers returned to their initial
00:02:47value of 1600 RON per voucher, it would be good to offer
00:02:51greater facilities for the private sector,
00:02:55respectively tax exemptions, because the private sector also
00:02:58offers vouchers. "It's a false perception that the private sector doesn't
00:03:02offer them, there were corporations, large companies that offered them,
00:03:06including tourism companies, in 2021, for example, they only offered
00:03:10vouchers in the private sector,
00:03:13expectations are not necessarily very optimistic, at the current
00:03:17pace, there might be a continued increase in incoming, but
00:03:19again, still from a
00:03:22rather small number, it deserved much
00:03:26more, and regarding domestic tourism,
00:03:29it remains to be seen for now, early booking reservations have started
00:03:33for the Romanian coast and for other external destinations, but now we are referring
00:03:36to domestic tourism to see
00:03:40how they will evolve in the next
00:03:43months, expectations are not necessarily very optimistic, but
00:03:47it remains to be seen.
00:03:49We are also closely watching what will happen in the next period. Traian Bădulescu, ANAT spokesperson,
00:03:53thank you for this phone
00:03:55intervention.
00:04:06Romanians' savings capacity is increasingly vulnerable to
00:04:10the growing pressures on the family budget, this in
00:04:14conditions where the increase in monthly costs constantly reduces the amounts
00:04:17available after covering essential expenses. Studies
00:04:20show that less than half of Romanians still manage to save
00:04:24very small amounts, while approximately 40% borrow almost
00:04:28monthly to cover expenses.
00:04:30Our colleague Luiza Târcă from TVR Timișoara joins us with additional
00:04:34information. Luiza, good
00:04:35to see you.
00:04:38Good to see you. The latest data from the National Institute of Statistics
00:04:42shows that almost 85% of
00:04:46a family's monthly income went in the second
00:04:49quarter of this year towards current
00:04:52expenses needed in that month, with
00:04:56635 RON more than in the first
00:05:00quarter of the year. We talked to several people to see
00:05:03how they manage financially and we met
00:05:07young people qualified with higher
00:05:09education who, one of them said:
00:05:12that she lost her job and changed four
00:05:16jobs this year, another person who has a job
00:05:19and besides that is involved in several projects for
00:05:23supplementary income to be able to support herself, we also met
00:05:26older people who say that they would not manage without
00:05:30the help of their children, in this
00:05:32context there are some
00:05:36people, almost half of Romanians who, as you have
00:05:40seen, manage to save very little money, and not
00:05:43always monthly, and people who do not manage to save
00:05:47at all. In these conditions, specialists explain that,
00:05:51although we are going through a difficult financial period, it is
00:05:54all the more important to save money, even
00:05:58if we no longer manage to save larger amounts, as it
00:06:01used to happen before, and
00:06:04for this it is very important
00:06:07to review the budget for that month, the budget allocated
00:06:11to expenses and to cut those expenses that are not
00:06:15necessary, to avoid impulsive
00:06:18purchases and to postpone those acquisitions that are not
00:06:21urgent. Also extremely important
00:06:25is the emergency budget, those savings that
00:06:28we make for unforeseen situations,
00:06:32for urgent situations, when the car breaks down for example and
00:06:35repairs are needed if the washing machine breaks down
00:06:39or if an emergency medical intervention is needed.
00:06:42And insurance does not cover all costs or does not cover
00:06:46costs at all, and the safety
00:06:49budget, that budget, that money that we set aside
00:06:52equivalent to three or four salaries or
00:06:55monthly incomes so that
00:06:58we are covered in case we lose our income, to
00:07:01have three or four months at most
00:07:05to find solutions.
00:07:09Drivers who want to buy hybrid cars from China might have
00:07:13to wait longer for some brands and models. The warning comes from
00:07:16car dealers, after the European Union and China reached an agreement to
00:07:20reduce exports to the common market. The measure was expected by
00:07:23major European car manufacturers in conditions where the market share of
00:07:26Chinese hybrid cars has increased significantly in recent
00:07:30years.
00:07:33Gheorghe Ion is from Ploiești and would like to buy a Chinese
00:07:36hybrid car. He came to the Bucharest Auto Show to see what offers
00:07:40dealers have. He says he has several reasons why he opted for
00:07:44manufacturers from China. First of all, the price seems more
00:07:47accessible than cars from Europe, they seem more accessible in terms of
00:07:51price. They offer a greater number of kilometers
00:07:55for electric autonomy than what we were used to on the European
00:07:58market. In recent years, Romanian drivers have become increasingly
00:08:01interested in Chinese cars. Only in
00:08:04September, out of over 1100 new cars registered in our
00:08:08country, almost 1900, which means approximately 17%
00:08:12of the total, belonged to Chinese brands. More
00:08:16than that, a major Chinese car manufacturer climbed to fourth place in
00:08:20sales. This is shown by the latest official statistics.
00:08:23And in Europe, the market share of vehicles from China has grown
00:08:27substantially. For Plug-in hybrid cars, it increased from
00:08:302% in 2024 to
00:08:3225% in the first 6 months of this year. So
00:08:36authorities have taken measures to protect local industry.
00:08:40The European Union reached an agreement with.
00:09:12probably large Chinese manufacturers will buy
00:09:15factories in Europe, so
00:09:18that they have a production line in Europe as well. It could
00:09:22stimulate future sales, because
00:09:25existing customers might purchase
00:09:29current models. The buyer will always have
00:09:32the final say, because as long as the commercial offer is more
00:09:35competitive, the buyer will set
00:09:38the trend. Representatives of the European automotive industry expect
00:09:42that the commercial agreement will temper the sharp increase in imports from
00:09:46China.
00:09:49In these difficult times, even sweets are no longer cheap. Europe enters
00:09:52the new season with the lowest sugar production in the last nine
00:09:56years, and this once again puts pressure on shelf prices.
00:10:00According to USDA, the European Union is expected to produce
00:10:03approximately 13 million tons of sugar,
00:10:06almost 19% less than last season.
00:10:10The area cultivated with beets dropped to 1.2
00:10:13million hectares due to drought and reduced
00:10:16crops. The problem is simple: Europeans consume around
00:10:1915.7, 15.9 million tons,
00:10:23which is more than what the common bloc produces. The difference must
00:10:27be covered by imports, and when you depend more on the external
00:10:30market, the price becomes more sensitive to exchange rates, transport and
00:10:33international quotations. Romania, paradoxically, is doing somewhat better in
00:10:37terms of harvest, the area cultivated with beets increased from approximately
00:10:411400 to 18000 hectares, which is almost
00:10:4430%. And the European Commission estimates a yield of
00:10:4740.4 tons per hectare. Production could
00:10:50reach almost
00:10:52747
00:10:55tons of beets, more than last year, but more
00:10:59beets in Romania does not automatically mean cheap sugar. The European
00:11:02market counts enormously, and Romania is in a region where
00:11:06sugar was already more expensive than the EU average, around
00:11:09547 euros per ton compared to approximately
00:11:12500 euros on the European market in the summer months. And
00:11:16major producers warn that prices could rise again if European
00:11:19supply continues to fall. The largest
00:11:22European sugar producer says that the market could return to
00:11:26growth, precisely because of lower
00:11:29production.
00:11:32Odorless goat milk, researchers from Botoșani say they have
00:11:35found the solution, after almost 10 years of experiments they managed to obtain a
00:11:39new breed of goats with fatter milk, but with a taste and smell that will be
00:11:43to the liking of the most reluctant consumers. The animals could
00:11:46soon reach farms all over the country after the homologation of the new
00:11:50breed. At first glance they look like ordinary
00:11:54goats. In reality they are the result of carefully
00:11:57controlled experiments, since 2017, local goats
00:12:01have been crossed with males from the Anglo-Nubian
00:12:03breed. At the Popăuți research station
00:12:06there are now specimens from the third generation, obtained in this
00:12:12a breed, we are only talking about a population now.
00:12:15The main characteristic we are working on
00:12:18now is
00:12:22milk production, improvement. The idea of
00:12:25having a biological
00:12:27creation
00:12:33specific to the
00:12:37climatic
00:12:38zone
00:12:41and
00:12:43a breed created in our area came to me from the very first years, because here
00:12:47I had found a lot of goats undefined as a breed. The most
00:12:51important achievement of this project is the quality of the milk.
00:12:55They aimed to increase the fat content, important for
00:12:58cheeses, but especially to eliminate the specific
00:13:01taste and smell that keep some consumers
00:13:04away. If I were to
00:13:07milk goat milk from this
00:13:10Anglo-Nubian breed and give it to a
00:13:13consumer to drink, without telling them where it came from, they certainly wouldn't
00:13:16realize it was goat milk. The project
00:13:20was initiated with the station's own funds, but the promising
00:13:24results attracted the financial support of the Academy of Agricultural
00:13:27Sciences and the Ministry of Agriculture. Researchers
00:13:30hope that this new biological creation will be approved
00:13:34soon and reach farms across the
00:13:36country. In Alba Iulia, more and more
00:13:40vestiges of the ancient Roman colony are emerging. Archaeologists have uncovered
00:13:44buildings, paved roads, floors and statuettes that
00:13:47sketch the story of an ancient city, whose secrets we do not yet fully
00:13:51know. On the outskirts of Alba Iulia,
00:13:55locals from the Partoș neighborhood can see new evidence of life
00:13:59from almost two millennia ago in the colony of
00:14:02Aurelia Apulensis emerging daily. Archaeologists
00:14:05have discovered buildings, roads paved with sandstone
00:14:09slabs, traffic arteries, coins and artifacts dating from the
00:14:12second and third centuries AD. The province of Dacia
00:14:16experienced an extraordinary
00:14:19development, then many
00:14:21settlements received urban status.
00:14:25The province of Dacia was a strictly militarized one, almost
00:14:2810% of the empire's
00:14:32army was stationed here in the province of Dacia. One
00:14:36of the remarkable discoveries is a marble
00:14:39statuette. It is a fragmentary statuette of the god Asclepius
00:14:43that we found in one of the rooms in this building, he was the god of medicine in
00:14:47Roman times. Here at Apulum it is known
00:14:50that there was an Asclepieion,
00:14:54meaning a temple hospital where the
00:14:57sick were treated, especially from the province of Dacia,
00:15:01the case of a veteran
00:15:05from the fifth legion who regained
00:15:08his sight in this temple
00:15:11hospital is known. The area researched in this site exceeded 6000
00:15:15square meters, which makes it one of the most extensive
00:15:18ancient urban sites. Local authorities plan
00:15:22to set up an archaeological park dedicated to
00:15:25the ancient Roman colony, which could transform
00:15:29the area into a new cultural and tourist attraction for Alba
00:15:31Iulia. It's time to see what important events
00:15:35happened in history on October 12.
00:17:30Brașov, due to the noise produced by military aircraft, frequent training
00:17:34flights and overflights of military helicopters near residential
00:17:38areas have provoked strong reactions from residents,
00:17:42as well as the intervention of local political representatives. Senator Irineu Darău brought
00:17:46to the attention of environmental authorities and the Ministry of Defense the complaints
00:17:49of citizens disturbed by noise pollution, requesting the identification
00:17:52of alternative flight routes. Army representatives emphasize that
00:17:56these aerial exercises are absolutely necessary for
00:18:00maintaining operational readiness and national security in the current
00:18:03regional context. Dialogue between authorities and the local
00:18:07community continues, as technical solutions are being sought to reduce
00:18:11the impact of noise on the population, without affecting strategic
00:18:15defense
00:18:15missions.
00:18:219:48 minutes, let's take a look at today's agenda, a busy
00:18:25day for the former independent candidate in the presidential elections. Călin Georgescu
00:18:29is taken to Diicot, where IT searches continue, then he will arrive at
00:18:33the Bucharest Tribunal where he requests the replacement of preventive arrest with the measure
00:18:36of judicial control. And at 12 o'clock he is expected at the Court of
00:18:40Appeal, where a new term is scheduled in the case in which he is accused of
00:18:44attempted coup d'état. Hope Build 2026
00:18:46begins, a project in which solidarity is transformed into
00:18:50six houses built in just five days. Several hundred
00:18:53volunteers will work side by side so that six families finally have a
00:18:57place to call home. The attention of the academic world turns
00:19:01today to Stockholm where the winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics
00:19:05will be announced. The distinction rewards important scientific contributions in
00:19:09the field of economics and has been awarded since 1969
00:19:12at the initiative of the Central Bank of Sweden, in memory of Alfred
00:19:15Nobel. The laureate is designated by the Royal
00:19:18Swedish Academy of Sciences. And with this information,
00:19:22Telejurnal Matinal has come to an end. We are Laura Fronoiu and Marius Popa and we
00:19:25thank you for your attention. At the precise time new information will be brought to you by our
00:19:29colleague Ioan Petru. We will see you tomorrow morning at 7 o'clock sharp on TVR 1 and
00:19:32TVR Info. Until then, have a good day.
00:19:34Where have you been hiding
