00:01:32Hello and welcome to this news program. Vladimir Putin said in a
00:01:36meeting with Masoud Pezeshkian that Russia is ready to do
00:01:40whatever is necessary to help end the US-Iran war.
00:01:43The Iranian president also told his Russian counterpart
00:01:47that even though the US has repeatedly attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations,
00:01:50Tehran remains committed to negotiation and diplomacy.
00:01:54This meeting took place on the sidelines of the summit of
00:01:57Caspian Sea and Eurasian countries in Turkmenistan. Hours
00:02:01earlier, US President Donald Trump had said that Washington was
00:02:05engaged in constructive dialogue with Tehran and would by no means
00:02:08attack Iran before the US midterm elections
00:02:11on November 3rd. Mohammad Amini reports.
00:02:15دهد.
00:02:18Masoud Pezeshkian's participation in the summit of Commonwealth
00:02:21Independent States, which was held in Turkmenistan.
00:02:24This country hosted the meeting of
00:02:27the Caspian Sea littoral states, the summit of
00:02:31Commonwealth Independent States that gained independence
00:02:34after the collapse of the Soviet Union. These
00:02:38are the photo ops of the leaders. This is the first
00:02:41time that a president from Iran participates in such a meeting.
00:02:45Vladimir Putin had a warm welcome with his
00:02:49Iranian counterpart. No, it's not time to sleep yet.
00:02:52He also
00:02:54greeted him.
00:02:57At the official meeting table, he also referred to Iran as a country that,
00:03:01in his words, had no fault in the ongoing war with the US.
00:03:04نداشته.
00:03:09Of course, today the biggest problem is the situation in the region. We know that
00:03:12Iran has truly tried to end the conflict and confrontation.
00:03:15To stop a war in which Iran had no fault at the beginning.
00:03:19Iran is once again trying to resolve the issue with new proposals
00:03:22peacefully.
00:03:24آمیز.
00:03:28Mr. President, you know Russia's position. We are ready to do
00:03:31whatever we can to resolve the issue.
00:03:35The opportunity that arose to serve you. This is the second meeting
00:03:38of Iranian and Russian leaders in the past 40 days or
00:03:42so. Masoud Pezeshkian told Vladimir Putin today
00:03:45that Tehran is still negotiating. We are
00:03:48talking. Every time we talked to them, they came and
00:03:52attacked again. But we will not leave the negotiating
00:03:55table. We had given proposals.
00:03:59The Americans gave new proposals. We made our
00:04:03own amendments to these proposals
00:04:06and after they are finalized, we will be able
00:04:09to summarize these proposals with the
00:04:13relationship they currently have. Russia and China are referred
00:04:17to as two superpowers supporting the Iranian regime.
00:04:20The level and details of cooperation and support
00:04:23from Moscow and Beijing to Tehran in the ongoing war with the US
00:04:27have many ambiguities, but some observers believe
00:04:31that Iran's ability to counter the extensive and severe blows
00:04:35from the US and Israel has partly been due to the support
00:04:39of Russia and China. Iran and the US continue to speak
00:04:42of mutual contacts and the exchange of diplomatic plans.
00:04:46US President Donald Trump said that Iran will not
00:04:49be attacked before the November 3rd elections
00:04:53in the US, i.e., in 24 days. Although
00:04:56he emphasized that the economic blockade is still in full
00:05:00force. It remains to be seen what agreements
00:05:03Masoud Pezeshkian will reach with his Russian counterpart
00:05:06in the ongoing meetings in Turkmenistan. Mohammad Amini
00:05:10BBC Alireza. Namvar Haghighi, analyst of
00:05:14Iranian political issues from Toronto, Canada. Mr. Namvar Haghighi, Russia has said
00:05:18that if anything is necessary to end
00:05:20the war between Iran and the US,
00:05:24it will do it. Is Mr. Putin in a position to mediate, put pressure on
00:05:27one of the parties, or do anything in this regard?
00:05:31Yes, with greetings to you and
00:05:35the dear viewers of BBC
00:05:38Persian Television. Well, Mr. Putin, after
00:05:42all, regarding the war in Ukraine,
00:05:45has a better relationship with Mr. Trump compared to the period
00:05:49of the Democrats. Mr. Trump does not have the previous support
00:05:52that the US government
00:05:54gave to Kiev. And today,
00:05:58when Mr. Putin's government has agreed to
00:06:01send diesel to the US, it has helped
00:06:05Mr. Trump's electoral position.
00:06:09Naturally, in this regard, Mr. Putin
00:06:12can play a guarantor
00:06:16role in issues
00:06:18between the two countries, including the issue
00:06:22of uranium transfer or guaranteeing that uranium
00:06:26will not be transferred, and Israel and the US will agree
00:06:30not to attack Iran. This is one of the most important issues that is ambiguous
00:06:33between Iran, the US, and Israel. Both China and Russia
00:06:37have the ability to play a role as
00:06:41two members of the Security Council with two powerful
00:06:44countries that have relations with both countries. This is one point.
00:06:47The second point is that in
00:06:50the past, if you remember, before the 12-day war,
00:06:53Mr. Lavrov traveled to Iran and made the same
00:06:57mediation proposal, but at that time, Iran did
00:07:01not agree. Even the Sepah Sobh-e Sadeq newspaper wrote
00:07:05that Russia wants to resolve the issue of Iran
00:07:08alongside the issue of Ukraine, and therefore we should not accept it.
00:07:12It seems that this level of opposition has decreased
00:07:15now, and it seems that Iran now needs
00:07:19a powerful mediator who can guarantee any
00:07:23agreement more than before
00:07:26and can trust them. The third point is that the level
00:07:30of cooperation between Iran and Russia has increased,
00:07:33especially in the field
00:07:37of food issues,
00:07:40relations with neighbors who were previously
00:07:44members of the Soviet Union, such as Turkmenistan and
00:07:47Azerbaijan, who also had a meeting today, Mr. Aliyev
00:07:50and Pezeshkian and Putin. And the third point
00:07:54is that they also have relations regarding defense
00:07:57issues. However, strategically, the reality
00:08:01is that if Iran does not want to change its strategy,
00:08:04Putin's mediation will not help Iran.
00:08:08That's right, Mr. Show, our time is very short,
00:08:10but now Iran, which
00:08:12seems to be in dire need of this ceasefire
00:08:16or peace, whatever we call it, but the American
00:08:20side, what really
00:08:22in Ukraine, Russia is involved.
00:08:25Please be brief. Yes,
00:08:28you see, the US has besieged Iran.
00:08:32This siege will not be broken easily. Second,
00:08:36because of this, it wants more concessions than before. Second,
00:08:39discontented actors like Arab countries.
00:08:42The issue
00:08:43is to
00:08:47solve it, meaning to create a fundamental change
00:08:50or reach a sustainable agreement. The third point is
00:08:54that the ambiguities that exist in Tehran. These ambiguities
00:08:57are about who makes the final decision and whether
00:09:01they will implement it if they agree, and third, Iran's strategic
00:09:05policies. These are the three issues that it seems if Iran
00:09:09does not want to unite for decision-making,
00:09:12and change its assessment, I believe that even if Russia and China are here,
00:09:16Iran's strategic problem in conflict with the US
00:09:19will not be resolved, and Iran may enter a chronic war.
00:09:23Alireza Namvar Haghighi, analyst of Iranian political issues, thank you for being
00:09:27on the program. The Wall Street Journal, in a recent report
00:09:31based on internal documents of the Binance cryptocurrency exchange,
00:09:34claimed that a network consisting of 21 accounts and companies
00:09:38related to Babak Zanjani, an Iranian businessman,
00:09:41used this platform to transfer hundreds
00:09:45of millions of dollars. According to these documents, some
00:09:49of the accounts in this network, despite warnings from Western financial and security
00:09:52agencies, were active for some time, and at least 67 million
00:09:56dollars were transferred from two accounts to wallets that Israel considers
00:10:00linked to the Revolutionary Guard Corps. Binance says that it
00:10:03eventually blocked these accounts and considers any suggestion
00:10:07of a connection between the total volume of transactions and the Revolutionary
00:10:11Guard Corps misleading.
00:10:13Manouchehr Pourzayee, our correspondent from Washington, is with us. Manouchehr, what more information
00:10:17do we have in this regard?
00:10:20What is new in the Wall Street Journal
00:10:23report is mostly
00:10:25about the movement of money and cryptocurrencies.
00:10:29So we had this news about sanctions and that Babak
00:10:32Zanjani's network was involved in these cryptocurrencies.
00:10:36Now we see how these funds were moving around.
00:10:40For example, the oil revenue
00:10:43would first enter the network through companies in
00:10:47the UAE and Turkey.
00:10:49These would enter this network. Then, for example,
00:10:53a company called ZP, which is a platform
00:10:57in Turkey, would convert it into cryptocurrency, and then
00:11:01from cryptocurrency, through accounts related to
00:11:04Babak Zanjani, as this report
00:11:08says, for example, the name of Babak Zanjani's sister,
00:11:12his romantic partner, and a number of others have appeared
00:11:15in these accounts, who, through this network
00:11:19and Binance, were making
00:11:22financial transactions, of which nearly 850
00:11:26million dollars were transferred through this, and
00:11:29as you said, only 67 million
00:11:32dollars apparently went to wallets that
00:11:36are linked to the Revolutionary Guard Corps. This is another
00:11:39issue that we see in the report.
00:11:42Today, the US Treasury Secretary also announced
00:11:46that soon, next week, and the week after,
00:11:49the US will confiscate nearly one billion dollars
00:11:53of Iran's cryptocurrencies. It is not yet clear
00:11:57where the source is, which wallets or accounts
00:12:01they are going to confiscate, and no one else has talked
00:12:05about it. Thank you very much
00:12:08for your time, Manouchehr Pourzayee, our correspondent in
00:12:11Washington.
00:12:13The US Treasury Department has sanctioned 17 oil tankers and several companies
00:12:17related to Iran's maritime transport network. Washington said that this
00:12:20action targets one of the major remaining sources of revenue
00:12:24for the government. These sanctions are part of an operation called
00:12:28economic pressure, which the administration of Donald Trump started about a month
00:12:32and a half ago with the aim of intensifying economic pressure on
00:12:35the Islamic Republic. But what effect will these pressures have on
00:12:39the behavior of the Islamic Republic, and what answer does the US
00:12:43government have to concerns about the growing pressure of sanctions on
00:12:46the lives of the Iranian people? Khashayar Jundi, our correspondent in Washington,
00:12:50asked these questions to Erin Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary
00:12:53for International Affairs at the US Treasury Department.
00:13:03We went through an operation whose goal is the complete isolation
00:13:07of the terrorist regime of Iran. Even in the past few days,
00:13:11we have witnessed significant developments in the Iranian
00:13:14government. Last weekend, the oil minister resigned.
00:13:18Also, on Saturday, the Iranian president spoke about the economic
00:13:21decline of the country. Therefore, in the past few days, the Shah.
00:13:55They can
00:13:56achieve?
00:13:59I think it will be so. In my opinion, the economic pressure
00:14:02we have imposed so far has brought the Iranian regime to its knees,
00:14:06and now we see that they have little time left. Their financial
00:14:09resources have become very limited. Only one
00:14:13billion five hundred million dollars of oil remains outside
00:14:16the maritime blockade. Once this is not sold,
00:14:20it's over. There will be no other source of income for
00:14:24the Iranian regime.
00:14:40The last time I asked about the exchange rate in the Tehran
00:14:44market, each US dollar was equivalent to 2 million
00:14:47700 thousand rials. Inflation has sharply
00:14:50increased, putting severe pressure on the Iranian
00:14:54people. Their purchasing power has decreased, and
00:14:58their quality of life is declining. Are
00:15:01you not concerned that at some point, with the continued fall
00:15:05of the rial, we will witness a negative reaction from
00:15:09the Iranian people to US policies towards
00:15:12Iran? President Trump has a great deal
00:15:15of empathy for the Iranian people. In fact, at every step,
00:15:19he has tried to provide humanitarian facilities and exceptions
00:15:23so that the flow of food and medicine to Iran
00:15:26continues. We actually believe that the Iranian people
00:15:30will ultimately hold the Iranian terrorist regime responsible
00:15:33for this situation and will understand that the United
00:15:37States government is doing everything in its power to provide
00:15:41more peace and prosperity for the Iranian people. During
00:15:44the Shah's rule, Iran had a dynamic, prosperous, and
00:15:47highly educated workforce. We want that dynamism and
00:15:51prosperity to return to Iran. Do you hope that
00:15:55economic pressure will lead to regime change?
00:15:57شود؟
00:15:59I think we hope that this economic pressure will ultimately
00:16:03lead to the end of Iran's terrorist regime.
00:16:06You expect it.
00:16:42In your opinion, how long can the Iranian government
00:16:45continue to do this? I think their time
00:16:48has run out. Their financial resources have become very,
00:16:52very limited. We know where their resources are, and
00:16:56we have repeatedly cut off their access to these resources. We are doing
00:17:00everything possible to eliminate the last remnants of the Iranian
00:17:03terrorist regime's financial ties with global financial markets.
00:17:09We are talking about the pressures that these policies have exerted
00:17:13on Iran. But the war and crisis in
00:17:17the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz have had widespread
00:17:20effects on the US economy and also
00:17:23on the global economy. How long do you think
00:17:27this situation can be tolerated and continued?
00:17:30If you look at the amount of oil that is now leaving
00:17:34this region, you will see that it has almost reached the same
00:17:38level as before the war. But the interesting point is that none of this oil
00:17:41belongs to the Iranian terrorist regime. All of it
00:17:45is supplied by other countries other than Iran.
00:17:47میشه.
00:17:54When you talk to the Iranian people, they believe
00:17:57that the main burden is on them.
00:18:00Ordinary Iranian citizens who have no connection with the government
00:18:04and have played no role in the war.
00:18:08They say that many government officials and their associates
00:18:12still live a lavish life and
00:18:15have been able to transfer their assets and money abroad
00:18:19to foreign banks.
00:18:23We target those who are part of the Iranian terrorist
00:18:26regime. We identify their money and assets and
00:18:30sanction them. The United States government by no
00:18:34means wants to harm the Iranian people or
00:18:38hinder their wealth creation. People who have suffered
00:18:41for a very long time from terrorist acts. We are trying
00:18:44to find a way to reintegrate Iran into
00:18:48the global financial system when this conflict ends
00:18:52and we see that the Iranian terrorist regime has
00:18:55ended its war and ended its dominance over society.
00:18:59This was an interview
00:19:01with my colleague Khashayar Jondi with Erin Brown, Deputy Assistant Secretary
00:19:05for International Affairs at the US Treasury Department.
00:19:22The prosecutor said that in investigations conducted by the UAE,
00:19:25this Omani co-pilot confessed that he was inspired by
00:19:29Al-Qaeda's September 11th attacks on the US. It is reported that he said
00:19:33the September 11th attacks were among the reasons for his decision
00:19:36to learn to fly. Following the attacks by Yemen's
00:19:40Houthis on Riyadh airport, more airlines are canceling
00:19:44their flights to Saudi Arabia. Saudi officials announced that
00:19:47three people were killed in yesterday's attack, one of whom
00:19:51was a pilot for the national Saudi airline. Several
00:19:54people were also injured, and one aircraft was damaged. After
00:19:58the Houthi attacks two days ago on the same airport and another
00:20:01airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia, Pakistan International
00:20:04Airlines, India, and Lufthansa stopped their flights to
00:20:07Riyadh. The US has announced that
00:20:11it will impose financial sanctions against the International
00:20:14Criminal Court. Accordingly, after a six-month grace period,
00:20:18transactions with this court will be prohibited. The US Secretary of State said
00:20:22that the country's president will never allow a court,
00:20:25which he called arbitrary, to prosecute Americans.
00:20:29The International Criminal Court and the UN Secretary-General
00:20:32described these sanctions as an attack on international justice.

00:22:14Genocide is ongoing in Gaza and continues, and the responsibility
00:22:18for it rests with the Israeli government.
00:22:21Ms. Pillay specifically held the Prime Minister,
00:22:25the then Minister of Defense, and the President of Israel
00:22:28responsible for the genocide in Gaza. She concluded
00:22:31that the Israeli government committed genocide. An accusation
00:22:35that Israel has
00:22:36never accepted.
00:22:41On October 9, 2023,

00:22:51When a group of people are dehumanized,
00:22:55killing them becomes easier and more justifiable
00:22:58in the eyes of those who commit violence.
00:23:01The Israeli government, in response
00:23:05to her Nobel Peace Prize, described the award as legitimizing
00:23:08hatred against Israel. Ms. Pillay is

00:24:26Official football shirts are produced by workers in Southeast
00:24:30Asia, some of whom have a basic wage of less than one and
00:24:34a half dollars per hour. Research by BBC Sport
00:24:37has traced the production of official club kits, including
00:24:41Arsenal, Celtic, and Liverpool, to two factories
00:24:44in Cambodia. These findings are released as
00:24:48fans complain about rising prices of official
00:24:51shirts, and at the same time, they are warned against buying cheaper
00:24:55counterfeit versions. Darren reports.
00:24:58دهد.
00:25:02I want foreign customers to know that every single one of these shirts
00:25:06is steeped in the sweat of Cambodian workers. These shirts
00:25:09are beloved items for fans and a profitable source of income
00:25:13for clubs and manufacturers. The industry of producing official shirts is a multi-billion
00:25:17dollar market, and buying them is not cheap. But the cost
00:25:20is not only paid by fans. We traced the production chain of official
00:25:24shirts to factories in Cambodia, where the basic
00:25:28wages of some workers are at or slightly above the minimum
00:25:31wage, less than one and a half dollars per hour. Workers
00:25:35earn less than $10 USD for producing about
00:25:38400 to 500 shirts daily. Huge revenues are generated from these products,
00:25:42but a very small share goes to the workers. These factories
00:25:45do not belong to Adidas, but are among its main suppliers.
00:25:49In these same factories, we found official shirts of some of the biggest
00:25:53football clubs in the world. Workers, whose identities we do not reveal
00:25:56for their safety, speak of the pressure they say they face
00:26:00at work. Workers are forced to work
00:26:03at a very high speed to meet production targets,
00:26:07so much so that they don't even have time to go to the bathroom. This leads
00:26:11to severe exhaustion and fatigue. If semi-finished clothes pile up
00:26:14on their workstations, they are reprimanded. 7,000 people work
00:26:18in these factories. We have also received reports about concerns
00:26:21regarding electrical safety, and there is also evidence of temperatures
00:26:25exceeding 35 degrees Celsius in
00:26:27the workplace. All of this is raised at a time
00:26:31when football fans are asked to buy official
00:26:34clothes instead of cheaper counterfeit products. However, these
00:26:38findings probably make many fans wonder if the
00:26:41real product is worth it at all, and what is the role of clubs in this matter?
00:26:45This situation exists in a large part of the apparel industry,
00:26:48and millions of workers around the world face such a situation.
00:26:52Clubs must send a very clear message that
00:26:55if workers are not treated with respect and dignity, they are
00:26:59not willing to put their name on these shirts. We have been told
00:27:03that various steps have been taken to ensure fair and safe
00:27:07working conditions throughout its supply chain. The company said that it
00:27:10monitors supplier performance, strives to resolve problems, and
00:27:14takes action to improve conditions wherever necessary. Adidas also said
00:27:18that workers typically earn wages significantly higher
00:27:21than the minimum wage. There are specific guidelines to
00:27:25combat heat stress, and the company's standards do not tolerate
00:27:28any harassment. Tens of thousands of kilometers away from your location.
00:27:32These shirts' fans might expect that when they buy
00:27:36an official outfit, certain standards are guaranteed
00:27:40in it. Dan BBC News.

00:28:41of their loved ones with the message: "Please

00:28:57You see, there are two types of reactions. Live
00:29:01coverage of news on television, social
00:29:04media, and the BBC Persian website. Is Iranian
00:29:08culture a suitable environment for violence? It can
00:29:12be said that insensitivity to violence in public or
00:29:15verbal violence are among the signs of violence
00:29:19in Iranian culture. For example, imagine if
00:29:23you attend an execution
00:29:26ceremony, do you see this as violence
00:29:29or as the execution of justice?
00:29:37An old American politician has a famous saying. He says
