00:05:47"Thank you very much for having us in your
00:05:50city, Chechel, Mauretania
00:05:53of Caesarea, a city full of history, a
00:05:56family history also
00:05:58that saw you born, that saw your father and probably
00:06:02your grandfather born in its arms and in its
00:06:06history, contributing also to its history. Chelchel is an
00:06:10extraordinary city that..." that that precisely
00:06:14gave me this this
00:06:16inspiration
00:06:18and this this this passion that is archaeology and also the mother,
00:06:22uh, so I had
00:06:25started very young with my
00:06:28father to precisely discover what is underwater,
00:06:31uh, by going fishing for
00:06:34sea urchins, fish, and so on, so discovering what is underwater,
00:06:38all the marine biodiversity and also
00:06:41not when... just the sea, Cherchel is also a large forest, so
00:06:45all the mountains of Dahra and so on, and this
00:06:48discovery also of nature so
00:06:51in general what
00:06:53allowed me to have, to to receive
00:06:57this passion for the sea and for archaeology through the different
00:07:01sites in the city. There is this indissoluble link, this heritage that you
00:07:05inherited from your father, he is an archaeologist, of course, Abdelqadir ben Saleh, you
00:07:08were able to restore mosaics, very young sites as well. I
00:07:12used to frequent archaeological sites with him during the excavations he organized during
00:07:16the 80s, I would mention the excavation, the large
00:07:19excavation of the Buffaric site, it's a
00:07:22district in Cherchel called Bouffaric and not the city, uh,
00:07:26so very young he took me with him and I already frequented at
00:07:29that time, uh, certain certain
00:07:33people who later became my colleagues, so, uh,
00:07:36already a baby, I must have been 2 years old when when I started
00:07:40going to the sites with him for for them and so on, and
00:07:44I think that unconsciously it made me want to take up the
00:07:48torch in a way and
00:07:51archaeology, I grew up in a large, loving,
00:07:54cherished family, etcetera, my my
00:07:57grandparents with us, uh, my
00:08:00father, my mother, so really we were very close, very
00:08:04united, my brother, my sister, and also there was the
00:08:08extended family, so the cousins, uncles,
00:08:11aunts, etcetera. You went to a small school here, so the small school, primary
00:08:15school, middle school, high school before
00:08:18joining the University of Algiers 2, I followed
00:08:22all my schooling here in Cherchel from
00:08:25primary school to high school,
00:08:29I did, we'll say, like everyone,
00:08:32the Algerian public school where I was
00:08:36very fulfilled, in Cherchel because we were not many
00:08:39already, and the teachers
00:08:42made us want, even at that time, to
00:08:45look, uh, into the history of this city,
00:08:48uh, it was every year we had to go to archaeological
00:08:51sites, to museums, go to the forest, etcetera, we are in
00:08:55an ancient city, an eternal city that saw,
00:08:59uh, that saw King Juba 2 arrive,
00:09:02his wife Selene Cleopatra,
00:09:05they built a dynasty, they made the city
00:09:09flourish, the Caesarea of Mauretania. And you
00:09:13lived in its arms and you were facing the sea.
00:09:17Cherchel has always
00:09:19lived through history, its history has never stopped,
00:09:23uh, even if sometimes
00:09:26it has somewhat slowed
00:09:29down the pace, but Cherchel, which was first the capital of
00:09:33Caesarean Mauretania, uh, with
00:09:36Juba 2, his wife Cleopatra Selene, after them their
00:09:40son Ptolemy, uh. It continued to
00:09:43live precisely uh until
00:09:47the end of antiquity where the pace somewhat
00:09:50regressed, nevertheless it continued to live through
00:09:54precisely the transfer, the transfer of
00:09:57families who came from Andalusia in
00:09:591492, so it revived at that
00:10:02time and through Emir
00:10:06Abdelkader with the colonial invasion,
00:10:09the Emir came precisely to...
00:10:12try to reorganize the revolution, the
00:10:15revolt against the invader here in
00:10:18Cherchel. When I finished my studies in archaeology, so I went
00:10:21to the associative sector because I felt that I... had to give
00:10:25something to society and we had
00:10:28created Marinostrom, uh,
00:10:33the environment and heritage here in Cherchel which continues until
00:10:36today, it started the adventure in
00:10:402010, it continues until 2026, and also with many
00:10:43friends, so through my studies,
00:10:47so as I did my schooling in Cherchel and also the sports I
00:10:50did in Cherchel allowed me to have a network
00:10:54of friends. Until now, until today, we will meet this
00:10:57afternoon, we will go to the center for nautical activities in
00:11:01Cherchel, the nautical base of Chelchelle, we will see you
00:11:04dive for our greatest pleasure, with great pleasure.
00:12:00I remember well the 70s, we were young,
00:12:03white, there was
00:12:06no access, it was wild,
00:12:09we were with
00:12:13only
00:12:18one. Always that side. One time,
00:12:20I was with a friend and I saw
00:12:23what.
00:13:25They came, they did
00:13:28the study on the cannons, it was magnificent, so
00:13:31they discovered that the dates, the cannons that dated back to
00:13:351400, and it was,
00:13:37it was, it was not a
00:13:39battle
00:13:42because there was, there was the bottom that was 6-10 meters
00:13:45and suddenly the bottom
00:13:49rises, rises, yes, it's here that they ran aground, and when
00:13:53the galleon, it...
00:13:59capsized on the east side, they are still there, yes, called
00:14:03the army and the
00:14:06museum and
00:14:09the PC also, the wilaya did all that
00:14:13to facilitate things.
00:14:16The Marinostrom association
00:14:19worked together after Marinostrom.
00:14:22Nazim and his team came. Her beauty
00:15:28"Nazim, I've known him since since my
00:15:31childhood, more precisely since high school, and
00:15:35he's the one who somewhat pushed me to do archaeology, so
00:15:38it's with him that I started this adventure of archaeology
00:15:42in general at the beginning, so terrestrial archaeology, we shared
00:15:45during all the years of university
00:15:49many moments of excavations, construction sites,
00:15:52trips here in Algeria, inland,
00:15:55abroad, and it's, well,
00:15:58it's many years, well,
00:16:01we have had a lot of experience everywhere,
00:16:05and that's what he... left this complicity
00:16:11underwater archaeology, he did a lot of terrestrial archaeology, and then
00:16:15of course, at sea or
00:16:17underwater, uh, it's true that it's very important that the
00:16:21team must work well together
00:16:24underwater, especially regarding the safety
00:16:28aspect, uh, I think that with Rafik we
00:16:31were among the pioneers in underwater
00:16:35archaeology, we started the adventure. Uh,
00:16:38he has about fifteen years of experience,
00:16:42when we had just finished our studies, we were already in
00:16:45position, and we said, uh, since we love
00:16:49the sea and we love archaeology, why not
00:16:52combine the two and embark on this adventure? The beginnings were not
00:16:55easy, yeah, now when we see the progress made, I think
00:16:59that we have made good progress, a lot of progress. Rafik
00:17:02is the director of the laboratory
00:17:05of historical and archaeological studies of Tipaza. And
00:17:08uh, within this laboratory, precisely, he
00:17:12has the aspect of underwater archaeology within the center where I
00:17:15work, the CNRA, the National Center for Archaeological Research,
00:17:19likewise, he launched this discipline of underwater
00:17:22archaeology, and so we try to always work in collaboration
00:17:26between our two institutions and also between
00:17:29people, uh, it's important to get along well underwater,
00:17:32as he said, and to have this complicity in
00:17:35reality, uh, already it's primordial for our
00:17:39safety, to work at least in pairs,
00:17:43uh, after that we form our group, we have trained
00:17:46students precisely so that they can
00:17:49support us in our research, uh, we have also succeeded
00:17:53in sending students to train
00:17:56abroad, uh, as I had done
00:17:59before, uh, we went several times
00:18:02as a group, uh, I'm talking again about
00:18:06training ourselves. Abroad, uh, in excavations in
00:18:10Greece, we did professional diving in
00:18:14France, etcetera, and so that allowed us
00:18:17to progress and to make this
00:18:20discipline progress precisely in Algeria. So communicating underwater technically is done
00:18:24uh by a sign language, if you will, that we
00:18:28learn uh through the training we do, as soon as we
00:18:32start diving, well, apart from sign
00:18:36language, uh... he has nevertheless, again with this
00:18:39experience and again these these years spent together, he
00:18:43has a certain communication that we cannot explain,
00:18:47he always played cards with Nazim, we were partners in card
00:18:50games and our friends always told us "Oh no no you're cheating it's not
00:18:53normal that you have this communication exactly
00:18:57we played a lot of goinch and our friends told us no no this communication is not normal
00:19:01and well underwater sometimes I understand him I
00:19:05the field of the flourishing also knows what I
00:19:08want or what I need technically regarding
00:19:12what we have to do underwater, it's by
00:19:15looking, it's by feeling and it's well alone too we
00:19:18write a lot, that is to say we have boards with us, submersible
00:19:21tables where we can write, so when there is a reason
00:19:25to ask Rafi anything, I write to him
00:19:28he answers me in writing, that's when it gets complicated, when
00:19:32we find, when we have a discovery that we can't explain, etcetera,
00:19:36so we communicate in this way. We write first, uh, after everything that
00:19:39concerns diving, uh, we have the conventional diving
00:19:43signs used everywhere in the world, the okay,
00:19:47we go up, we go down, we stop the dive, etcetera, and so that's
00:19:51it's, it's, it's normal in addition to this complicity that we both
00:19:54have, or even the whole group. The first core of underwater archaeologists
00:19:58was created, uh, within
00:20:01our laboratory, the laboratory of historical and archaeological studies at
00:20:05the University of Tipaza, and it's here that
00:20:08this laboratory gathers this core uh of underwater
00:20:12archaeology, we are, we are, we are, we were six, so from different
00:20:16institutions, uh Nazim at
00:20:19the CNRA, us at the University of Tipaza, another colleague from the University of
00:20:22Guelma, other colleagues who were before at the maritime
00:20:25museum, so it's all these skills that came
00:20:28together, well, in one and the same core, and
00:20:32we worked on several common projects that
00:20:36dive... that no, so he
00:20:39technically may have people who are more competent than
00:20:42others, Nazim is very, for example, Nazim, we count on
00:20:46him for the aspect of uh preparation, management of...
00:20:51projects because he already has the experience, the training, the plus
00:20:54he has is that he is doing a specialized master's degree in coastal and
00:20:58maritime archaeology, after that I, I somewhat
00:21:02pushed all this to go
00:21:05diving, to do this this this underwater
00:21:08archaeology since I had worked before on
00:21:11this subject for my thesis, but sincerely
00:21:15everyone has their areas of expertise and everyone has their
00:21:17technical skills. On the field,
00:21:44there he
00:21:46is, he came back.
00:22:43Today we question the silence of the
00:22:45depths, where the sea still protects what was once
00:22:49our... daily life, tomorrow, the tumult of the waves will give way to
00:22:53the nobility of marble, there, at the National Museum of
00:22:56Cherchel, we find Nazil bin Salah here at the
00:23:00heart of his history, which merges with the history of Caesar of
00:23:03Mauretania to bridge the gap between the submerged mysteries
00:23:07and the heritage that we have the duty to protect and to
00:23:11transmit.
00:23:29We've already said it, every object, every piece of this
00:23:32prestigious museum has a
00:23:35story, and a story often linked to your family's history
00:23:39and/or your history, uh, indeed, we are in front of
00:23:42this statue of the Lion, uh,
00:23:46which was found on a beach next to the gate
00:23:50of Ténès in Cherchel, uh, and which would date from the 1st century,
00:23:54uh, uh, apparently, and
00:23:57uh, this statue, well, it's linked, I would
00:24:00say, first of all, my father and his colleague discovered
00:24:04it by chance on the beach, they carried it by sheer strength
00:24:08to bring it to the Cherchel museum, and today it is
00:24:12showcased. So the second thing is that it's an object that
00:24:16comes uh from
00:24:20the part, the object was found
00:24:23underwater, so it necessarily has a history with underwater archaeology.
00:24:25Uh, that's why we are in front of this object
00:24:29today, it is highlighted precisely at the
00:24:32museum to show precisely what it
00:24:36was used for in the 1st century,
00:24:40so it was a fountain and we see the museography
00:24:43precisely that stages it in front of a
00:24:46basin where water came out of the lion's
00:24:50mouth. And so it's perhaps in this place where everything was decided for you,
00:24:53uh, probably, probably through the
00:24:56profession of your father, to whom we pay tribute in
00:25:00this museum, borrowed everywhere, it's perhaps from there that
00:25:03everything started without without wanting to
00:25:06influence us, I think that my father did it
00:25:09indirectly, uh,
00:25:13finally we oriented ourselves by nature or by passion
00:25:17also naturally uh in this environment, in
00:25:20archaeology, in history and so on, because we have always
00:25:24been immersed in it, in the end, and when we talk about
00:25:27immersion, I specialized in underwater archaeology.
00:25:53What did your father Abraham transmit
00:25:56to you that was most precious in the way
00:25:59of looking at an object, an archaeological object? Of course,
00:26:02uh, I would say that the most
00:26:06important thing was precisely the transmission, this transmission of
00:26:09heritage, it was a motto for him, uh, he
00:26:13always told us that cultural heritage does not belong
00:26:17to us, it's just a
00:26:20message that we must precisely keep and preserve,
00:26:23conserve for future generations, so
00:26:26it's really the motto that I
00:26:30think is the most important that I got from, from... from
00:26:33my father, we are facing a mosaic, a special
00:26:37mosaic, the mosaic of the nine muses, you have then
00:26:41special of course for Algerian heritage, for Algerian
00:26:44mosaics, but also because you have a story with this
00:26:48mosaic, yes indeed this this large
00:26:51mosaic which was restored
00:26:54then by my father and his team, he had, he had
00:26:58chosen to train precisely people in mosaic
00:27:02restoration. In 2002
00:27:04where they precisely completely dismantled this mosaic which
00:27:08was very fragile at the time, so its support was very fragile,
00:27:11they had to dismantle it, put it on the ground to
00:27:15try to restore it, so tessera by tessera, what we call tessera, these are the small
00:27:19cubes that make up the mosaic, once
00:27:22on the ground they were surprised by
00:27:26what I remember in 2002 because it stressed
00:27:29him a lot, for the anecdote precisely. Also
00:27:33is that the subsidy stopped and
00:27:36it was at that moment that he somewhat gave his speech to the whole
00:27:40team saying, uh, so the mosaic is on the
00:27:43ground, do we put it back up restored or not, so
00:27:47that's where everyone said okay, very good, we'll take on the
00:27:50challenge, they all contributed precisely to buy plaster
00:27:54to buy the materials, etcetera, and they reassembled it and
00:27:58here it is today standing upright, uh, more
00:28:02uh, uh, 15 years, 15 years, 15 years later or 20 years
00:28:06after its restoration, it is still standing and present precisely to
00:28:09be seen by future generations. For centuries and
00:28:13centuries and stories and anecdotes, you have
00:28:16many in this prestigious place,
00:28:20with your father or without your father for that matter, we'll say that
00:28:23I developed this love for heritage, for archaeology,
00:28:27so naturally, uh, I had to discover
00:28:30these places for myself. Uh, and also try
00:28:34to have everything that this
00:28:37museum hides, the other museum as well, and the whole city of
00:28:41Cherchel, we'll say, it started like that, this love for heritage,
00:28:44it's curiosity that pushed me precisely to
00:28:48perhaps see what's underground and even underwater, so
00:28:51it certainly has this influence.
00:28:53A beautiful and magnificent
00:29:23fountain. It's a fountain dedicated to the
00:29:27myth of Ulysses with the sirens, so
00:29:30when Ulysses asked his crew to tie him to the mast so that he
00:29:34could hear the sirens' song and not
00:29:37be able to go,
00:29:40uh, it's also a way
00:29:44to precisely show all the maritime past of the city
00:29:47of Cherchel, so it is interested in the myths
00:29:50uh of the sailors of that
00:29:54time, so all the mythology and the marines and
00:29:56so on, and it was also a
00:30:00way to... after the relationship between
00:30:03Cherchel Caesarea, so ancient Caesarea and its
00:30:07relationship with the sea, uh,
00:30:09it, it, it allowed me, I would say,
00:30:13to concentrate and to focus my
00:30:16research to go and see what happened underwater,
00:30:19what is currently hidden underwater, and
00:30:23it's, it's, well, it deserves to be
00:30:26looked at anyway and highlighted and preserved
00:30:29as well.
00:31:15Glad to meet you again at the National Center for Archaeological Research, the
00:31:18CNRA of Tipasa, your workplace, also a place for reflection,
00:31:22for research, a center
00:31:25created in 2017 and which has a vocation, which
00:31:29vocation in fact under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, but which
00:31:32vocation also to preserve,
00:31:36map, analyze also, carry out
00:31:39interventions, many missions that you
00:31:42share with your colleagues, archaeologists. For the
00:31:45most part, but you, you are specialized in underwater
00:31:48heritage, exactly, thank you and
00:31:51welcome to the National Center for Archaeological Research in
00:31:55Tipaza, indeed we have several
00:31:58missions in precisely the development of archaeological research
00:32:02here in Algeria, throughout the Algerian territory,
00:32:04uh, the center
00:32:07has a huge number of
00:32:10specialists who come from different
00:32:15uh specializations, not just in archaeology, we already have
00:32:19architects, surveyors, and so on, and
00:32:23uh with all this multidisciplinarity, I mean
00:32:26he has, he has precisely, uh,
00:32:30what it takes to develop where the center is a
00:32:34good, uh,
00:32:35catalyst,
00:32:38a, a locomotive, we could say, for Algerian archaeology, so that's
00:32:41where everything starts. Okay, but you, you tell us how you got
00:32:45it after studying at the University of Algiers
00:32:482, University of Bouzaréah, you did a
00:32:51archaeology courses normal and how you
00:32:55fell, shall we say, into the water, into the
00:32:58underwater heritage. Uh,
00:33:02I first started as an archaeology student at Bouzeria University, as you
00:33:06said. Uh, I then
00:33:10did a master's degree here in Algeria, uh, then
00:33:14I left to specialize. So, after working at
00:33:17OGEBC, I did my specialization in underwater
00:33:20archaeology abroad, where I participated in a
00:33:24master's degree program that has a UNESCO chair called
00:33:28Master of Maritime and Coastal
00:33:31Archaeology, the Monmar exactly in
00:33:34Marseille. And uh, that's where, let's say,
00:33:38uh the
00:33:40real research in underwater archaeology began, because I was able
00:33:44to acquire techniques I didn't have before. I was self-taught, even though
00:33:48I dove, I did my research on underwater archaeology, but
00:33:52it was from this master's degree that I was able to acquire the techniques
00:33:55that are used around the world
00:33:59to be able to do purely
00:34:02scientific and adapted research
00:34:05in underwater archaeology. Exactly. When you do your studies,
00:34:09there was no module dedicated to underwater heritage at that
00:34:12time. It was later that the work was
00:34:16undertaken, notably by researcher Hamoum, but how did you
00:34:20fall into the water? The sea is already a childhood passion, like archaeology,
00:34:23so after how to combine the two?
00:34:27Well, I didn't see any other way than to do
00:34:31this specialization by trying to
00:34:34bring together the two, the sea and archaeology,
00:34:37and what motivated me
00:34:40to go and look for
00:34:44what was being done elsewhere to be able
00:34:48to develop this discipline in
00:34:51Algeria. At the time, this specialization did not exist. It was not
00:34:55taught at the university. There were no
00:34:57specialists who had previously practiced this discipline, and
00:35:01so there was a gap, and this gap
00:35:05had to be filled, and I think that at the time I made the
00:35:08best decision to go and develop myself
00:35:12in this field to then return
00:35:16to try to develop it and be among the pioneers
00:35:19in this field. That was really important to me. You did restoration, you
00:35:23touched on artifacts on land, but what
00:35:27makes the difference with the heritage that is underwater?
00:35:30It is still a heritage, it is also artifacts, it
00:35:33can be artifacts, it can be uh, well, it can be
00:35:37a lot of pieces. I would say that the underwater
00:35:40environment preserves archaeological artifacts better, so
00:35:44uh, the English call it
00:35:48a time capsule, so it's a time
00:35:51capsule that is underwater and it's up to us to go and
00:35:55discover it because it remains intact in general,
00:35:58it's not modified by
00:36:02any anthropogenic aspect, whatever it may be, through time. Uh,
00:36:06on old cities, for example, there is
00:36:09this succession of civilizations, so each
00:36:12civilization tries, in a way, to supplant
00:36:16another or to erase another, and on the other hand, underwater, there is no
00:36:19such aspect. So what we find underwater remains intact
00:36:23until its discovery, apart from some alterations
00:36:27due to the environment, etcetera, the erosion of time. The erosion of
00:36:31time, also water, when an object is underwater,
00:36:34it is better preserved because it does not oxidize, so it has less
00:36:37oxygen and necessarily oxidation does not alter the
00:36:41archaeological object, and every time we discover something underwater,
00:36:44in general, we are
00:36:47amazed by the beauty of the thing because it remains intact and we
00:36:51find it as it was lost
00:36:54at the time. When you come across an ancient object,
00:36:58a piece, an artifact, you should not move it
00:37:00or take it out, especially for those who fish underwater, because normally
00:37:04those who do it, there is prevention to be done, in any case, on that side. It's one of the first
00:37:08steps I'm going to say, because public
00:37:12awareness has been done a lot.
00:37:15Uh,
00:37:17we have raised public awareness not to take objects out of their
00:37:21environment. From an archaeological point of view, we should not
00:37:25decontextualize the object,
00:37:28because once taken out of its context, the object historically or
00:37:31scientifically is worthless. Uh, so we try
00:37:34to raise awareness among people not to take
00:37:37objects out of their context, but
00:37:39also taking it out of the marine environment
00:37:43abruptly can precisely lead to the destruction of
00:37:46this object and we will never be able to
00:37:49preserve it well over time to keep it for future generations. This is
00:37:53one of the objectives. You have been at CNRA since 2020.
00:37:56You have already joined, you also teach
00:38:00from time to time at the university, the underwater
00:38:03module. Since 2020, 6 years
00:38:07now, do you have an idea? I think a
00:38:11mapping has been developed, but do you have a more
00:38:14developed idea about the
00:38:17Algerian underwater heritage?
00:38:19Uh,
00:38:22we are constantly discovering, I would say, with a
00:38:26significant coastline, more than 1600 km of
00:38:29coastline for Algeria. Uh, so
00:38:32we are constantly discovering and
00:38:36the sea to declare what they find, because we can never
00:38:40go by ourselves and prospect the entire Algerian coast, which is huge,
00:38:43after all. Uh, and also the number of civilizations
00:38:47that have succeeded one another. You organize campaigns very often. So, campaigns
00:38:51first to train young archaeologists to
00:38:54dive, to perhaps locate the sites,
00:38:58judge them, and to be able to work as well, because all your
00:39:02work is done underwater, even with regard to measurements,
00:39:06with regard to everything that is usually done on land, you do it.
00:39:09It's the same technique, it's the same means, it's not the same techniques underwater,
00:39:13okay, but on the other hand, in my free time,
00:39:16I try to participate with my colleagues,
00:39:19research teachers at the university, to train a
00:39:23generation of underwater archaeologists who would possess
00:39:27these specific techniques for underwater archaeology, among others,
00:39:31underwater surveying, for example, which is different from
00:39:35underwater excavation, which is not quite the same, etcetera. So there
00:39:38are some aspects that are very similar. We do archaeology even underwater.
00:39:42It's still archaeology, but
00:39:46we try to transmit all this
00:39:49to others, to the young generation.
00:39:53Uh, we would probably need more
00:39:56resources in this field, because
00:40:00this field requires more resources.
00:40:03Uh, to learn to dive, so you would first
00:40:06have to master the technique to go underwater.
00:40:10Uh, it's the only
00:40:13way to make archaeological discoveries and also
00:40:17other technological means, I would say, to develop this
00:40:20discipline, whether it's underwater
00:40:24photogrammetry, underwater robotics,
00:40:28for example, etcetera. There are times when it's so deep that even we can't
00:40:31go down, so we call upon what is done abroad, internationally,
00:40:35is that robots replace humans at significant
00:40:39depths. Uh, I participated,
00:40:43for example, in an international
00:40:46UNESCO as an expert for Algeria,
00:40:50so I participated in this expedition
00:40:53that toured the Mediterranean between the Sicily Channel,
00:40:57the Tunisian coasts, etcetera, and the
00:41:01archaeological artifacts, the shipwrecks we discovered during
00:41:05this mission were at a very significant depth, more than 800 meters
00:41:08deep, and so for us as humans, we didn't have the
00:41:12possibility of going to those depths. Uh, we
00:41:15had planned to send robots, and it was the robots that were able to bring
00:41:19us images of these discoveries. Uh,
00:41:23which was extraordinary. So yes, we need
00:41:26to move forward in this field with new technologies.
00:41:30Can we imagine that one day there will be, I mean, on the same
00:41:34level as the museums of Algeria, that there will be a
00:41:37national underwater
00:41:40museum? We could consider that, yes. Already,
00:41:44all underwater archaeological sites can become
00:41:47visitable museums. Uh,
00:41:51for that, it could be a good, it could be a
00:41:54good tourist attraction for Algeria, a
00:41:57showcase also to say that we have this
00:42:00cultural diversity, this historical
00:42:04richness also that is underwater and that people can
00:42:08visit. So it's truly
00:42:10a goal to achieve, because once the discovery
00:42:14is made, once the research is done, once everything is
00:42:18documented, then we can open these sites to the public
00:42:21who come and visit.
00:42:24The public is quite trained
00:42:27in underwater diving techniques, so there are many
00:42:31diving clubs that train divers and so on, amateurs, so all these
00:42:34people can come and visit these sites.
00:42:37That would be a goal to achieve after
00:42:41research. Yes, in the long term, can we
00:42:44consider it for the site of Hamdania
00:42:48where there was a discovery
00:42:51of 23 cannons, I think, which
00:42:55informs us about a point in our history, a battle that
00:42:59took place between Khairdin and the French
00:43:02during, let's say, the 16th or 17th century? I think
00:43:05cannons were found. Indeed,
00:43:08frankly, we don't have enough evidence to say if there was a
00:43:12battle, if there was anything else. Uh, but what is certain
00:43:16is that we found 23 cannons underwater, and
00:43:19uh, these cannons are at a very shallow
00:43:22depth. They are well preserved as long as they remain underwater.
00:43:25Uh, so yes, it's a site that can be
00:43:29visited in the very near future. We
00:43:33can consider opening certain
00:43:35sites like that for public discovery. You
00:43:39just need to prepare these
00:43:43sites, let's say, and to prepare, raise awareness among the people who will
00:43:46visit these sites not to touch anything, not to damage the
00:43:50archaeological site and not to damage the marine biodiversity, which is
00:43:54important, but divers are supposed to know that. The discovery of the 23 cannons
00:43:57of Hamdaniya
00:44:01where many things have developed
00:44:03rapidly, perhaps a teaching
00:44:06module at the University of Algiers dedicated
00:44:11to underwater and also protection
00:44:15UNESCO, all engaged by you, by the University
00:44:19of Algiers, by the CNRA, by Mr.
00:44:22Hamoum who was Algeria's representative to
00:44:25UNESCO. Yes, I would say that the site of the 23
00:44:29cannons of Hamdaniah was from Rocher Blanc, exactly,
00:44:32was a major discovery. The discovery was made in the
00:44:3690s, yes, by a local
00:44:39association. Cherchell Marif, they made
00:44:42this discovery. They had taken photos at the time,
00:44:46we are in the 90s, and
00:44:49later, uh, a
00:44:52colleague from the Cherchell museum had
00:44:55done a study
00:44:58for his bachelor's thesis on this site, and
00:45:02then we took over, uh, myself and Professor
00:45:06Rafiq
00:45:09the site archaeological site to deepen
00:45:12the studies. The maritime museum also intervened, so there
00:45:16was an excitement, let's say, about this site in terms of
00:45:19research, where in the end we
00:45:21all based ourselves on this site to
00:45:25try to highlight this discipline. I think that was
00:45:28the objective at the time. It was, well, we
00:45:32finally saw many underwater artifacts. We just need to
00:45:36discover them and bring them to light, and this allowed us to
00:45:40create a research unit in underwater archaeology
00:45:44within the CNRA, which also allowed the University of
00:45:47Tipasa to develop this discipline within the archaeological
00:45:51and historical studies laboratory. The maritime museum
00:45:55also acquired equipment, a team,
00:45:58etcetera, and so this created
00:46:01underwater archaeology, which has been very beneficial for
00:46:05this discipline. Now we need to discover even more
00:46:09to see all the diversity and historical
00:46:13richness. Speaking of Reflef, we will find him later,
00:46:16we will find him on the site of the Roman ruins.
00:47:30I hope we didn't make you wait too long. Not at all, but we
00:47:33were impatient to discover this site and especially its history, its
00:47:37ancient history. We are, as we said, in
00:47:41Saint Salça at the entrance of Tipasa and we are
00:47:44facing a magnificent landscape. Yeah,
00:47:48after crossing the ruins, we arrive in front of the two islets, but
00:47:51they are not just simple islets, they are islets
00:47:55that hide an
00:47:58emerged heritage that could perhaps represent the
00:48:01ancient port of Tipasa, the presumed ancient port of
00:48:04Tipasa, exactly. So you need to know that the Tipasa park is
00:48:08divided into two parks in reality, the east park and the west
00:48:11park. The east park is known as
00:48:15Saint Salça, but in relation to the necropolis. But what
00:48:18few people know is that here, as I said,
00:48:22there is a presumed port. Why presumed? We know that there are structures,
00:48:26that an ancient port did exist here. Is
00:48:30it the port of the city of Tipasa? The question
00:48:33mark is still there. Uh, why? Because as you can
00:48:36see, the site is a bit far
00:48:40from the port, so the port
00:48:43should
00:48:46in front of the city or in front of the city center. Research
00:48:49was carried out, so in reality, in 1960,
00:48:54from an English university
00:48:57carried out sonar prospecting. It was
00:49:00revolutionary at the time, and they confirmed the presence of
00:49:04submerged structures, so the jetties of the
00:49:07port and the basin where
00:49:10boats used to dock. We
00:49:13started by uh, doing
00:49:16archaeological prospecting work as part of our
00:49:20research projects where we confirmed the presence
00:49:23of these structures, we confirmed the presence of the port
00:49:27through, of course, dives, uh, images,
00:49:30photographs, and videos we were able to take. But also,
00:49:34this project has been uh, taken over or has
00:49:37also been the subject uh, of
00:49:40several final year theses by students. We also
00:49:43uh, worked on this port
00:49:47uh, during a study
00:49:50on the archaeological potential as part of the
00:49:54underwater archaeological zone requested by UNESCO, and our
00:49:58colleague Nazim recently took over the file as
00:50:02part of the project of the buffer
00:50:06the ancient city of Tipasa. So, in plain terms, for
00:50:09us simple viewers, simple
00:50:12Algerians, how do we understand what is exactly
00:50:16underwater? You have done diving
00:50:20campaigns, diving
00:50:23operations with Nazim Ben Salah or others, with other
00:50:27colleagues as well. Uh, there is
00:50:30difficulty. Sometimes we cannot see very well, as the question
00:50:33was asked about the port of Hamdania. The
00:50:37visibility cannot always be present, so what
00:50:41can we see and what can we see clearly? So, what
00:50:45characterizes the port is its
00:50:47basin, and the basin is delimited by jetties. So,
00:50:51to be able to identify the presence or absence of a port,
00:50:54one must identify the presence of structures that
00:50:58are jetties. We have well identified the jetties, we can
00:51:01trace them from the islets,
00:51:05from the islets towards the coast, from the two islets as you
00:51:08can see, and inside, a basin is formed.
00:51:11The basin is flat, so since it is
00:51:15enclosed, we were able to find many
00:51:18artifacts, among others, during the last operations we did with
00:51:22Nazim in partnership with the National Center for Archaeological Research, we
00:51:26found anchors, many amphorae,
00:51:29which was proof that the area or the basin
00:51:33had a period of occupation, because sailors, when they arrived on
00:51:37site, they would throw, for example, they would clean their boats and
00:51:40throw the broken
00:51:44amphorae to the bottom of the port. So that is
00:51:47what allowed us to confirm the presence of a port. The function of the port,
00:51:51once again, remains undetermined. Okay,
00:51:55a dating approximately? So the port,
00:51:57based on the structures, it must be known that on the
00:52:01islets there are structures that were also built.
00:52:04Uh, also based on the few archaeological
00:52:07elements, we can say that it is a port that was
00:52:10developed during the Roman period, so
00:52:14not before. We know that the city of Tipasa is known
00:52:18where there has been a presence since the Phoenician
00:52:21period with archaeological evidence dating back to the 6th century BC.
00:52:25Here, perhaps we will talk about the 1st
00:52:28century and a use of the port
00:52:32perhaps until the late period. So,
00:52:35to have more details on the buffer zone requested by
00:52:38UNESCO and on this heritage or what this zone will
00:52:42represent in relation to heritage? Yes, yes, it's a project
00:52:45that brought together many people and is multidisciplinary, especially because
00:52:48the CNRDPA, the National Center for Research for the
00:52:55the University of Tipasa and the maritime museum, and it was
00:52:59overseen by the National Center for Archaeological Research. So it was the CNRA that
00:53:02oversaw this project and conducted
00:53:05prospecting along the entire coast of the city of
00:53:08Tipasa, where we wanted to
00:53:12see the archaeological potential that was
00:53:16UNESCO to create a future buffer zone for the
00:53:19archaeological site of Tipasa, the archaeological sites of Tipasa.
00:53:23Uh, it allowed us to discover other places that had not
00:53:26yet been discovered, the Roman bank in addition to,
00:53:30of course, the port of Tipasa. We discovered what is called what
00:53:34we find on maps: Roman bank. We found a lot of
00:53:37archaeological material. We already found quite
00:53:41imposing anchors and amphorae, etcetera, which leads
00:53:44us to believe that boats, before entering the port, would
00:53:47drop their anchors, waiting to have a place in the
00:53:51port, they would drop their anchors in that specific
00:53:54place, waiting to have a place in the port
00:53:58before entering. Very good, thank you very much, thank you for this
00:54:02journey through time, very beautiful, but especially with regard to everything
00:54:05that is done on underwater heritage. Thank you very much,
00:54:08sir.
00:54:12Thank you.

01:00:22Republic, Ahmed, the first minister presided yesterday
01:00:25evening at Jama al Jazair, the ceremony celebrating the night of the
01:00:28Maulid Nabawi and the awarding of prizes to the laureates of the
01:00:32Holy Quran memorization competition, an
01:00:35atmosphere of piety and
01:00:38serenity.
01:00:44Tonight we will go to Biscra, which has become a solar
01:00:47hub. Its latest project, the partial commissioning
01:00:50of the Ainaga power plant, is part of the national program aiming to
01:00:54reach 15,000
01:00:57MW of renewable energy by 2035.
01:00:59Agriculture is a success
01:01:03story to follow later in Boumerdes, a city where
01:01:06vine cultivation is a tradition. Sofiane has
01:01:09taken up the torch and developed the family business by
01:01:13modernizing it and introducing new varieties of table
01:01:16grapes. A report in this
01:01:18newspaper.
01:01:21We also offer you a visit to the three oldest
01:01:24mosques of Chelchel, buildings from
01:01:27different eras, today witnesses to the rich history of the
01:01:30region and an integral part of the cultural and
01:01:34religious life of the Cherchalois. A report at the end of this
01:01:37edition.
01:01:42Welcome all, glad to find
01:01:45the Republic, Abdul. The Prime Minister, accompanied
01:01:49by the rector of Jam, Sheikh Mohammed Mamoun
01:01:52al-Qasimi, presided yesterday
01:01:55evening at Jamadi al-
01:01:59Jazair, the ceremony celebrating the night of the Maulid Nabawi Sharif
01:02:03and the awarding of prizes to the laureates of the Holy Quran memorization competition. The
01:02:06ceremony took place in the presence of government members, members of the diplomatic
01:02:10corps accredited in Algeria, and many worshipers, a spiritual atmosphere
01:02:13imbued with piety and serenity that
01:02:20we are promised
01:02:23by God
01:02:26for those who believe and do good deeds.
01:03:00by illustrating it with knowledge, scientific progress, development, and moral
01:03:04values to better make the greatness of the Prophet Muhammad
01:03:07known to the world. At the heart of this ceremony, the
01:03:11laureates of the full Holy Quran memorization competitions were
01:03:15honored by Prime Minister Sieb in recognition
01:03:18of their journey and efforts, a tribute that reflects the importance given
01:03:22to the holy book and the transmission of its teachings to younger
01:03:26generations. I thank Almighty God for honoring me with this victory
01:03:30in the category of full memorization of the Holy Quran, its recitation,
01:03:34and its health. I thank God for allowing me to win the first
01:03:38prize of the competition for the servants of the two holy places of Islam, which was held in
01:03:41Senegal under the auspices of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. I am also happy and
01:03:45grateful to have been honored during this ceremony celebrating the Maulid Nabawi
01:03:49Sharif. I also extend my sincere thanks to Algeria and the Ministry of
01:03:53Religious Affairs and Waqf for their constant support to Quran memorizers
01:03:57through the organization of national competitions and
01:04:00training courses that allow us to represent our country in major
01:04:04international competitions. I also thank them for this beautiful
01:04:08initiative.
01:04:11God has also granted me the honor of representing Algeria in the
01:04:15King Abdulaziz International Competition in Saudi Arabia,
01:04:18where I obtained first place in the category of full memorization
01:04:22of the Holy Quran with excellent recitation and good
01:04:25mastery of Tajweed. I thank God for this immense
01:04:29grace. All success comes from
01:04:31Him.
01:04:33In the same vein, the establishment of the Presidential Prize for the Prophetic
01:04:37Sira comes to
01:04:41life of the Prophet, by stimulating research and making this
01:04:44heritage a source of values and benchmarks for new
01:04:47generations.
01:04:51We are particularly happy with the creation of this Algerian prize for the
01:04:55prophetic Sira, instituted by the President of the
01:04:57Republic, an initiative that...
01:05:00that honors the life of the Prophet and that arouses the pride and joy of the sheikhs
01:05:04of the zawiyas, of the Koranic schools, and of all our children in Algeria, as
01:05:07well as those established abroad, and more broadly, the entire Muslim
01:05:11community.
01:05:14Beyond the celebration, the Maulid remains a time of transmission and
01:05:18fidelity to a heritage deeply rooted in Algerian
01:05:22society, where the Quran and the Sira continue to transmit
01:05:25to generations the values of faith, tolerance, and
01:05:29respect.
01:05:35Energy and direction. Bisca has become a solar
01:05:38hub. One of its recent projects, the Ainaga power plant, partially
01:05:42commissioned, is part of an ambitious national program aiming to
01:05:46reach 15,000 MW of renewable
01:05:49energy by 2035. Details by
01:05:52Aridatiman Masid.
01:05:55And this part of the Ainaga solar power station has recently
01:05:59come into operation, thus strengthening the national
01:06:02electricity grid with a capacity of 150 MB. This
01:06:06infrastructure contributes to
01:06:10et à répondre à une demande en constante
01:06:12progression.
01:06:15la station compte 23 champs solaires, chacun
01:06:18développant une capacité d'environ 6,6 mb,
01:06:22soit une puissance totale de 150 mb, elle dispose
01:06:25strengthening the energy
01:06:29supply and meeting a constantly increasing demand.
01:06:32The station has 23 solar
01:06:34fields, each
01:06:40developing a capacity of approximately 6.6 MB,
01:06:43for a total power of 150 MB. It also
01:06:47has several basic infrastructures, protection
01:06:50and management and control systems, as well as a
01:06:53expertise and national
01:06:56know-how.
01:07:00The station is expected to produce more than 300 million kWh
01:07:04of renewable electricity per year. Local
01:07:07integration notably concerns some 1500 km of cable and nearly
01:07:1110,000 tons of metal structures. This project
01:07:14will cover the electricity needs of an entire region,
01:07:17while contributing to the preservation of the environment and
01:07:21the development of clean energy. Beyond electricity
01:07:24production, the project also constitutes a lever
01:07:28for job creation and skills development. Nearly
01:07:32500 young people have thus benefited from direct or
01:07:35indirect employment, accompanied by specialized training in the field of
01:07:39renewable energies.
01:08:26an energy yield that is accompanied by a significant environmental
01:08:30benefit, the station will avoid
01:08:33the emission of nearly 28,000 tons of CO2 each
01:08:37year. Through this type of
01:08:40energy diversification
01:08:42to its implementation on the ground by focusing on renewable
01:08:45energies, the development of national skills, and the
01:08:49construction of a more sustainable energy mix.
01:08:53Agriculture in Relizane is at the heart of the national storage program with
01:08:56several modern projects, among them, the construction of 12 metal
01:09:00silos in Ouled with a total capacity of 200,000
01:09:04quintals. The project is experiencing a significant acceleration in its
01:09:07implementation
01:09:08pace.
01:09:13In Relizane, grain storage is reaching a new
01:09:16milestone. The installation of the metal framework gives new impetus to the
01:09:20construction site, which is now at an advanced stage, thus bringing
01:09:23this infrastructure closer to its entry into
01:09:26operation. The project is entering its final stretch. The
01:09:29construction of the metal silos shows a progress rate of more than
01:09:3385%, while the assembly of the work and
01:09:37unloading tower exceeds 94 %. Despite particularly
01:09:40high temperatures, the team is maintaining the pace to deliver the project
01:09:44on time.
01:09:47In addition, a metal silo with a storage capacity of
01:09:51200,000 quintals is being built, a strategic project for the wilaya of
01:09:55Relizane, particularly, a true
01:09:58agricultural hub with high potential.
01:10:01Designed to receive and store harvests under controlled
01:10:04conditions, the complex will sustainably strengthen
01:10:07storage capacities and will better secure cereal
01:10:11productions.
01:10:22Ultimately, the connection of the silo to the railway network will make it possible to streamline the transport of
01:10:25goods, while reducing the costs and delays of
01:10:28transport.
01:10:31Once operational, this infrastructure will strengthen
01:10:35the entire agricultural chain and contribute to a better
01:10:38valorization of harvests, a strategic project that accompanies
01:10:42the local agricultural dynamic and consolidates national capacities for
01:10:46cereal storage.
01:10:49The wilaya of Boumerdes covers 50% of the national needs
01:10:53in table grapes, and for some
01:10:57land is a passion passed down from father to son.
01:11:02taken up the torch and has made good use of it. A report by Yasmine
01:11:06Schwir.
01:11:10From father to son, Sofie has been working this land for more than 15 years. He has
01:11:13shaped it, cultivated it until it became fertile to produce
01:11:17today different varieties of grapes. Since
01:11:21I was little, I came here to the hostel with my father,
01:11:24I worked with him until this profession became my passion
01:11:28and I started working the land myself, because if you don't love
01:11:32the land, you can't do this job. Today, I continue to
01:11:35work here on this farm. The
01:11:38work of the vine has been passed down here for generations, after the...
01:11:42evolution and independence, we started working the land
01:11:46and cultivating grapes. At the time, we used stake
01:11:50cultivation with stakes, then the trellis system appeared, the
01:11:54pergola installed with posts and wires. In recent years, we
01:11:58have noticed that it offers a better yield and a much
01:12:01larger
01:12:02production.
01:12:06Sofiane perpetuates this tradition while introducing
01:12:09new varieties from Italy and Spain.
01:12:20Sabine, Red Globe and the Musca. Once the cutting is
01:12:24ready, comes the grafting stage. You then have to choose the
01:12:27variety that best suits the land. Before planting, you must
01:12:30therefore analyze the plot, know which variety adapts best
01:12:34to it. Some lands are suitable for Sabines, others for Red Globe and
01:12:38Cardinal or other
01:12:41the proximity to the sea,
01:12:46availability. The farmer must therefore know how to observe his land
01:12:50and ask for advice to avoid making the wrong
01:12:53choices.
01:13:255% yield, only in some
01:13:28farms, losses even reached 90 to 100
01:13:31%. Farmers treated their wine, but this year the
01:13:35mildew was particularly difficult to control. Behind each
01:13:39bunch, there are months of work, and for grapes to remain
01:13:42accessible to consumers, it is also necessary to allow those who
01:13:46cultivate them to continue to
01:13:48produce them.
01:13:50Abroad, these new revelations on Moroccan drug trafficking networks.
01:13:54These armed criminal groups are
01:13:57violent and are ready to confront Spanish law enforcement, a disturbing
01:14:01reality brought to light during an operation that led to the seizure
01:14:04of large quantities of drugs. Salwa Faris and Majd
01:14:08Jahmoon.
01:14:10Off the coast of Huelva, in southern Spain, Moroccan
01:14:14cannabis trafficking networks are no longer content
01:14:18to evade the vigilance of Spanish security forces.
01:14:21They now go so far as to shoot at them.
01:14:25Armed confrontation that reveals the rise of increasingly
01:14:28organized and heavily equipped hashish trafficking
01:14:32networks. The outcome of the operation is
01:14:35substantial: nearly 6 tons of cannabis resin
01:14:38seized, two fast boats intercepted, and 10
01:14:42people arrested. A major operation that highlights the ramifications
01:14:45of dangerous Moroccan criminal organizations, with
01:14:49financial means and weapons, using
01:14:52fast boats and operating
01:14:55along the trafficking route connecting the Moroccan
01:15:00Spain before transporting the drugs to the
01:15:03rest of the European continent. These networks
01:15:06rely on a real criminal organization
01:15:09responsible for the transport, storage, and redistribution
01:15:13of narcotics, a trafficking that now goes beyond traditional
01:15:16methods to take the form of organized cross-border
01:15:20crime, posing a threat to the security and stability of
01:15:26Morocco is thus regularly cited in cases
01:15:29related to drug trafficking, organized crime,
01:15:32corruption, and illegal immigration, realities
01:15:35that contrast with the efforts deployed by the Marzen regime to
01:15:39improve its image on the international
01:15:42scene. Sports, Mediterranean Games of
01:17:14tour of the three oldest mosques of
01:17:18Cherchell, three buildings from different eras and
01:17:21which today bear witness to the rich history of the region. They also participate
01:17:25fully in the religious and cultural life
01:17:28of the Cherchell residents. A report by Seham Kinouch.
01:17:32Cherchell is not a city that you
01:17:35pass through, but rather a city that you romanticize, a story
01:17:38that you tell. It only takes a few steps to go from one century to
01:17:41another. Here are three buildings, three
01:17:45mosques, each of which tells a unique
01:17:48story. Our first stop, the Mosque of 100
01:17:51Columns, a building that dates back to the Ottoman era, but which
01:17:55nevertheless reminds us of Andalusian architecture
01:17:58and the gardens of Granada.
01:18:01an old mosque, it
01:19:37is indeed old but it was restored in
01:19:411295 AH, 1878
01:19:451295
01:19:52and then not far from these two
01:19:55jewels, a facade that surprises with columns
01:19:59and proportions that immediately evoke
01:20:02ancient times, a building that
01:20:05dates back... to 1876, its walls
01:20:09housed a church and then it
01:20:12changed its vocation in 1964. It
01:20:15became a mosque, the Ar-Rahman Mosque.
01:20:32It was built with materials recovered from ancient
01:20:36constructions.
01:21:30Mobilis presents you the weather

01:24:04calm on the western coasts, possibly choppy on the central and eastern coasts with
01:24:08light winds up to 30 km/h on the western and eastern coasts and
01:24:11up to 20 km/h on the central coasts. Winds will be variable on the central
01:24:15and western coasts, southwest on the western coasts and

01:54:04kings were reborn, from Massinissa

01:54:11Tininen, emblematic figures marked
01:54:15this land. They left behind them kingdoms,
01:54:18legends and
01:54:21monuments in the sound. It still escapes
01:54:23us, history shows that
01:54:27the Numidians were in relation with many
01:54:30civilizations and they also brought
01:54:33their influence and their impact. Why
01:54:37build such monuments, why
01:54:40here, why these forms,
01:54:44why this obsession with stone
01:54:46eternity? Ancient Algeria
01:54:50existed well and truly before the arrival of the Byzantines, the
01:54:54Vandals, going back in time, long before
01:54:57the Romans, and Algeria was called
01:55:00Numidia.

02:08:04and it has received many visitors
02:08:08here, even from neighboring countries like Hungary, Croatia,
02:08:12and so on. We, as an institution of mechanical

02:08:18in Slovenia has
02:08:21international institutions
02:08:24that are advanced in the field of agriculture
02:08:28and mechanization. We had meetings
02:08:32with businessmen and Slovenian
02:08:35institutions in bilateral meetings. The goal
02:08:38of these is
02:08:40to enable partnership agreements
02:08:43between Agrodrive and Slovenian institutions

02:09:03of agriculture, farming,

02:09:11for promoting bilateral cooperation between Algeria and Slovenia
02:09:15and opening new horizons and promising partnerships
02:09:17between economic
02:09:19operators.

02:12:23good care of us. We lack nothing. And we have returned. Yes, we

02:12:44We follow up on them here, to be stable in his
02:12:48physical or psychological condition. We also help
02:12:51most of these patients suffering from kidney
02:12:55failure. They benefited from medical services at this
02:12:58clinic thanks to the use of the Shifa card
02:13:01and the benefits granted to them.
02:13:05We bring the Shifa card
02:13:08normally with the nurses,

02:13:40and private sectors in the health field is a national
02:13:43strategy aimed at improving medical care and thus
02:13:46alleviating the suffering of patients traveling

02:14:04which will provide better transport conditions and greater
02:14:07comfort for passengers, in addition to creating new
02:14:10job opportunities for job seekers in the region.

02:15:28to supporting employment opportunities by creating 140
02:15:30new jobs for drivers
02:15:34and conductors, in addition to dozens of positions
02:15:37that have been the sector. I
02:15:41was registered in Anem, then I heard that the company opened
02:15:44an offer. I went and registered again
02:15:47to be put in for the test of the urban
02:15:50and suburban transport company in Batna. Thank God,
02:15:54I am working now. This quota will contribute
02:15:56greatly to making urban transport give us a modern
02:16:00image and change the general atmosphere or the general image
02:16:04that the city had before. And as part of the modernization
02:16:08and renewal of the urban transport fleet,
02:16:11the process will continue gradually until
02:16:14the old buses are retired
02:16:17removed from service.
02:16:20To our immortal historical stations from the glorious
02:16:23liberation revolution, the fifth
02:16:28of August 1958 was a pivotal station in the struggle for liberation,
02:16:32where the revolutionaries conveyed the chapters of the struggle to the heart
02:16:36of the brutal colonizer. In many French cities, military operations
02:16:40were carried out that disrupted the enemy's calculations
02:16:43and thwarted its heinous colonial plans.
02:16:46We will pause at this
02:16:48station with Fatiha
02:16:531630. August 25,
02:16:571958.
02:17:00A pivotal moment in the path of the Algerian liberation revolution,
02:17:04and a decisive political moment in which France
02:17:07realized that the war it had tried to confine within Algeria was
02:17:11no longer limited by the geography its forces had drawn,
02:17:14and that the revolution was capable of carrying the confrontation
02:17:17to the heart of the colonial state itself,
02:17:20which is what happened for the first time in
02:17:23history. As the zero hour struck,
02:17:27coordinated commando operations were launched under the leadership
02:17:30of the National Liberation Front Federation in France.
02:17:33These operations targeted military, security, and economic
02:17:37facilities in a number of French cities,
02:17:40affecting fuel depots, factories, and security
02:17:44centers, which caused great confusion in the French
02:17:47security system, as well as depleting
02:17:51the colonizer's military capabilities, which forced it to reconsider
02:17:55its calculations and review its policies and its heinous
02:17:58colonial plans in Algeria. Bold and exceptional
02:18:01attacks achieved tangible strategic
02:18:06an atmosphere of terror and disturbance in major
02:18:09French cities to force them to stop their military
02:18:13supplies to Algeria, which enabled the revolution
02:18:16to strengthen its activities and achieve field
02:18:20victories that put it in a position of strength.
02:18:22These operations also revealed another dimension of the strength
02:18:27Algerians abroad were not outside the battle,
02:18:30as the Algerian community in France turned into
02:18:34a political and organizational depth for the revolution,
02:18:38alongside the rest of the unified Algerian people,
02:18:41who rallied around the leadership of its provisional government
02:18:44and the National Liberation Front, the legitimate
02:18:47and sole representative of Algerians. The impact of these
02:18:50historical attacks also went beyond
02:18:54their military dimension to raise the Algerian
02:18:57issue in international forums. The impact of these historical
02:19:01attacks went beyond
02:19:04to raise the Algerian issue in international forums
02:19:07and gain new political and media momentum,
02:19:10and to confirm to French and international public
02:19:14opinion that what was happening in Algeria was not
02:19:17a French internal affair, but rather a war of liberation
02:19:21fought by a people to regain their national
02:19:24sovereignty. Thus, the second in France became a strategic
02:19:27pressure card in the hands of the revolution,
02:19:31proving that the National Liberation Front was capable
02:19:34of shifting the confrontation to sensitive locations
02:19:38at a time when France was trying by all means to quell
02:19:41the revolution in Algeria and impose a suffocating
02:19:44military blockade on the Algerian land borders through
02:19:47the Challe and Maurice lines. The attacks of August
02:19:5125, 1958
02:19:55were not just commando operations, but a strategic
02:19:58decision that changed the equation of the conflict
02:20:01and moved the liberation revolution to a new
02:20:04stage of political maturity, and gave the liberation
02:20:07revolution new momentum, and also
02:20:12of the Algerian issue on the international
02:20:15stage and paved the way for complete
02:20:18independence.
02:20:21In a new file of international scandals, data from
02:20:25a new Spanish investigation
02:20:28in pressure and maneuvering through extensive electronic
02:20:31espionage targeting a Spanish
02:20:35of tons of hashish on its way to Europe. The investigation provided
02:20:39evidence and proof of the involvement of Moroccan intelligence
02:20:42officers with networks involved in drug smuggling,
02:20:45in addition to using illegal immigration and migrants
02:20:48from Africa to politically pressure European Union
02:20:52countries. Paris
02:20:56A new Spanish investigation opens a heavy file
02:20:59on the other side of the Mediterranean, putting the practices of Moroccan
02:21:02intelligence under the microscope of journalistic and judicial
02:21:05investigation in a case that goes beyond electronic
02:21:08espionage to what is related to using migration and drug
02:21:11files as tools of political
02:21:14pressure and blackmail. According to the data in the investigation,
02:21:18Spanish security figures were targeted by extensive
02:21:21electronic espionage using software,
02:21:25including Pegasus, at a time when Madrid
02:21:28and Rabat were presenting security cooperation in combating
02:21:31terrorism, illegal immigration, and drugs as one
02:21:35of the pillars of their bilateral relations.
02:21:38The data also indicates that the espionage operations
02:21:42were not isolated, but extended to other Spanish
02:21:45security elements in a context that reveals,
02:21:49according to the investigation, the use of digital monitoring
02:21:52tools outside the legal frameworks that govern
02:21:55intelligence cooperation between states. The investigation does not stop
02:21:59at the espionage file, but links it to other
02:22:02data related to drug smuggling and illegal immigration.
02:22:06It indicated an increase in Spanish hashish seizures,
02:22:10where the Spanish police seized 257 tons in
02:22:132025, an increase of
02:22:1629% compared to
02:22:192024. At a time when networks
02:22:22linked to Morocco are accused of benefiting from the proceeds
02:22:26of this illegal trade. The most dangerous, according
02:22:30to the investigation, is the talk about intelligence information
02:22:34indicating the presence of Moroccan security officials involved
02:22:37in illegal drug smuggling networks. The issue of espionage on Spanish
02:22:41elements is also brought up within previous
02:22:44international investigations related to the Pegasus program
02:22:48and the controversy it raised about respecting the digital
02:22:51sovereignty of states and the sanctity of communications and personal
02:22:54data, which are principles protected by national laws
02:22:57and international agreements. This data gains greater
02:23:01importance given the sensitivity of Morocco's position
02:23:04in the system of illegal immigration and drug smuggling
02:23:08to Europe, and the political this in its relations
02:23:12with its European partners. The issue does not seem
02:23:15to be just an electronic espionage scandal, but a multi-dimensional
02:23:19and multi-faceted file in which security, intelligence,
02:23:22organized crime, migration, and political pressure
02:23:25intersect, which raises questions about the limits of the practices
02:23:29that the Makhzen apparatus can resort to to protect
02:23:32its interests, and about the extent of its respect for international
02:23:35law and the principles of sovereignty and non-interference
02:23:39in the affairs of states. What these journalistic
02:23:42investigations reveal requires greater scrutiny
02:23:46of the nature of security cooperation between the Makhzen
02:23:49and European capitals, and of the reality of the roles
02:23:51that drug and migration
02:23:56relations and political pressures adopted
02:24:00by the Makhzen regime. Like corruptors on Earth,
02:24:03the Makhzen oscillates between blatant transgression
02:24:07and grave injustice. Its sinful hand has even
02:24:11touched religious sanctities. After displacing families
02:24:14who were safe under their roofs, here it is today, its systematic policy
02:24:31prevents the people from celebrating the birth of the best
02:24:34of creation. The Makhzen in Morocco has been tyrannical
02:24:37and has become Zionist. My brothers,
02:24:41here is the blood cutting his leg.
02:24:59of Your power in the oppressors,
02:25:03O Lord of the worlds. Oh God, show us a sign in the oppressors
02:25:07and do not let them have a goal, O Most Merciful of the merciful,
02:25:11O Lord of the worlds. We trust in Israel. These are our brothers, Israel.
02:25:14We must receive
02:25:18them with roses. For Moroccans in European
02:25:21countries, when prayer time
02:25:23comes, they don't pray.
02:25:26Between houses being demolished, families being marginalized,
02:25:29and religious practices being hindered, the Makhzen's policies
02:25:33continue as usual to go beyond restricting
02:25:36citizens' legitimate rights.
02:25:41In a scene where images of demolition, displacement,
02:25:44and marginalization accumulate, the suffering of segments
02:25:47of Moroccan society seems to be beyond
02:25:50being confined to demolished walls. Rather, it is
02:25:53a broader picture of a systematic Makhzen
02:25:56social imbalance in which the distance between
02:26:00those who have the means of stability and those
02:26:03who struggle to maintain its simplest conditions
02:26:07widens. We are citizens, we are not
02:26:09inanimate objects. you commit fraud, and you throw
02:26:13us onto the street. Oh God, this is unacceptable. We are demanding
02:26:17our right from God, and we will not give
02:26:19up our right, whether we die or live.
02:26:22and He is the best Disposer
02:26:24of affairs. He ruled
02:26:27that I be expelled from my land. This land is mine, my friend.
02:26:30We inherited it. These people have been homeless
02:26:34since birth. By God, they have nowhere to sit.
02:26:37The Makhzen regime did not stop at demolishing
02:26:40houses and displacing their residents, but
02:26:44its recklessness this time extended to another area more closely connected
02:26:48to emotions, The celebration of the Prophet's
02:26:52birthday, where chanting
02:26:55and religious praise spaces turned into arenas for security
02:26:58intervention. Convoys were stopped,
02:27:01gatherings were dispersed, and citizens were dragged
02:27:05bound to police stations. At the end
02:27:08of the scene, these images do not appear
02:27:12to be isolated events as much as they portray
02:27:16a reality burdened by transgressions,
02:27:19exclusion, and restriction. Families lose their roofs,
02:27:23and segments face increasing social
02:27:26fragility, and citizens are deprived of their
02:31:21the news with manifestations of the celebration of the birth
02:31:24of the best of mankind, as the celebrations
02:31:27of the Prophet's birthday swept across the country,
02:31:30including the city of Beni Abbes, which dedicated the occasion
02:31:33to reflecting the authenticity and ancient history of the region
02:31:37in scenes that fill the soul with the joy of celebrating
02:31:40the birthday of the Prophet of the nation, Muhammad,
02:31:44may God bless him and grant him peace.
02:31:48The image and its beauty are conveyed by Hammel
02:31:51Abdel Nour from the city of Beni Abbes.
02:31:53The celebrations of the Prophet's birthday begin
02:31:57with religious praises, customs, and inherited traditions
02:32:01that express the deep connection of the region's
02:32:06of the Prophet, may God
02:32:16Amidst spiritual atmospheres expressed by everyone
02:32:20who attended this celebration,
02:32:24we had the honor today to attend the Prophet's birthday celebration
02:32:27in Beni Abbes. We came
02:32:31Thank God, the atmosphere is as
02:32:34atmosphere. The people of Beni Abbes were very
02:32:38hospitable. The celebration is held in mosques with
02:32:41gunpowder. In the mosques, they recite the Burdah
02:32:44and the Hamziya. Women make a traditional
02:32:48dish. In the exhibition square, the sounds of gunpowder
02:32:51of songs and religious praises in a celebratory scene
02:32:54that reflects the authenticity
02:32:55of the region
02:33:02and its people's keenness on this heritage
02:33:06that attracted the attention of attendees of all
02:33:10ages. I am happy to be in Beni Abbes to attend
02:33:13the celebration of the Prophet's birthday. It is an honor
02:33:17for me as a photographer to come and take some
02:33:20photos of Algerian heritage. Today, Beni Abbes is saying
02:33:24to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace,
02:33:27"Welcome, welcome, today is the 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal,
02:33:31the day the Messenger of God was born." So this
02:33:35is the idea that we call the virtue,
02:33:38which is the night of the birth of the Messenger of God,
02:33:41may God bless him and grant him peace. So all the people
02:33:45of Beni Abbes come out to this place that we call
02:33:48the Musalla. With these chants that
02:33:50praise the Messenger
02:33:59Muhammad, the Messenger of God, the Messenger of God, intercede
02:34:05for us, Abu Laleh, the Messenger of Laleh Fatima
02:34:09Zahra, so that the celebration of the Prophet's birthday
02:34:13remains an occasion for renewed joy and spirituality,
02:34:17and for remembering the rich history
02:34:20of the region. We have to mention
02:34:22the main points of the newsletter.
02:34:26By order of the President
02:34:30of the Republic, the Prime Minister presides over the celebration
02:34:33of the Prophet's birthday at the Grand Mosque of

02:35:25Spanish investigation reveals the methods of the Makhzen in pressure
02:35:28and maneuvering through electronic espionage
02:35:31and the flow of hashish towards Europe.
02:35:33And houses
