00:34:10White nationalist groups in Canada are coming out of the
00:34:13shadows
00:34:15and they're building their combat skills. These new groups
00:34:19are part of a global movement calling themselves active clubs
00:34:22in Canada. They have links to terrorist groups and extremist
00:34:25militia like organizations
00:34:27and they try to hide where they are. They blur their faces and
00:34:31hide their surroundings. We dug through their social media
00:34:34channels and investigated hundreds of videos and images
00:34:37posted by these groups to reveal who they are and where
00:34:40they train.
00:34:44Well let's go see what this travesties are.
00:34:49If you've never heard of an active club,
00:34:52it might seem harmless. Who doesn't want to be active,
00:34:55right? In reality, they recruit white people to
00:34:58tribe and train. Basically their fascist fight clubs and
00:35:01they're on the rise around the world. In Canada this movement
00:35:05overlaps with violent terror groups. Take Atomwaffen
00:35:08Division, it was a neo Nazi group linked
00:35:10to multiple murders in the US. It was listed as a terrorist
00:35:14entity in Canada in 2021. That's when many former members
00:35:17joined active clubs.
00:35:19And as we're about to show you, there's a bit of a theme here.
00:35:22This is probably one of the fastest growing far right
00:35:25extremist threats in Canada. Now,
00:35:27these groups say they're not looking for fist fights in the
00:35:30streets, yet they often refer to a
00:35:32looming global conflict and a time when civility will be
00:35:35unnecessary. These are people that in many cases are training
00:35:38for what they believe is to be an upcoming race war. The
00:35:41potential for violence and the potential for something
00:35:44catastrophic to happen is extremely high.
00:35:50One of the main groups behind this mask demonstration in
00:35:54Toronto is Nationalist 13, or NS-13, based out of Hamilton,
00:35:57ON. Members are open about their views. In this video from
00:36:01NS-13's Telegram channel, 1 of their members poses with a
00:36:05Nazi lighter on Hitler's birthday. The group called him
00:36:09one of the greatest men to ever live,
00:36:11saying one day we will see his vision come true. So in a post
00:36:15like this, even though there may be no mention
00:36:19of the Jewish people when they're referring to Jews,
00:36:21and in this particular case, anti-Semitism would clearly
00:36:25fall within the scope of the Criminal Code prohibition. So
00:36:28you think this is hate speech? Yeah,
00:36:31I think a lot of what's said in the post that you provided me
00:36:34with would would constitute hate speech under the Criminal
00:36:38Code. And these stickers that they put up in Hamilton's parks
00:36:42say National Socialists, Nazis. And here's where we find
00:36:45another link to a terrorist group. The Canadian Proud Boys
00:36:49expanded in 2021 after they were designated a terrorist
00:36:52entity following the January 6th US Capitol Riot.
00:36:56This is Brandon Lapointe. We find him wearing a Proud Boy
00:37:00shirt in multiple images. He's now a prominent member of MS13.
00:37:04Heavy matches, tattoos, rings, and his shorts. In this image
00:37:08posted by the group, we locate where they've been in
00:37:12Hamilton and city parks like Myrtle Park. Here
00:37:16you can see that this building matches exactly. We went to
00:37:19this location and every other to confirm ourselves. They've
00:37:22been sparring in broad daylight, like in this video from Gage
00:37:26Park in Hamilton.
00:37:28You could see the bathroom here and Dome here. Match the
00:37:32sketchbook. Oh well, shoot. And that's even closer
00:37:35towards the Children's Garden specifically.
00:37:39Ah, that's really upsetting to see.
00:37:41Yeah, I think that's a serious public
00:37:43safety concern. The rise of extremist organizing is a
00:37:47national security threat. So public parks are one thing,
00:37:50but we also find them in privately owned gyms,
00:37:53which they try to hide by obscuring the images they share.
00:37:57Nationalists 13 have a ton of pictures at this gym,
00:38:00with members often sparring or posing in the boxing ring. In
00:38:04another photo from the gym, this MS13 member is wearing a
00:38:07will to raise shirt. Will terrorize
00:38:10the clothing brand that markets itself to active clubs. There
00:38:13aren't many clues visible in these videos,
00:38:16but we spot this one in this video. You can see the edge of
00:38:19this boxing glove deckle here. It matches up with this
00:38:22promotional video for Amazing Fitness,
00:38:24a popular and family owned gym in downtown Hamilton. The ring
00:38:28and the windows match 2 an upstairs in the weightlifting
00:38:31section. This portion of the wall matches exactly the area
00:38:34behind the Man and the Will to Rise shirt. Remember Brandon
00:38:38Lapointe, the MS13 member we identify
00:38:40here? He is at Amazing Fitness
00:38:46so we drive to the gym to share our findings. The manager says
00:38:50he had no idea this was happening. A few days later he
00:38:53sends an e-mail and tells us we have no affiliation whatsoever
00:38:57with these individuals or ideology and we categorically
00:39:00reject any form of hate or discrimination. The fact that
00:39:03the gym owner doesn't know that they were training doesn't
00:39:07surprise me at all. It just goes to show how manipulative
00:39:10these groups are that they are going to lie about what they're
00:39:14doing.
00:39:18Now let's switch gears for a second. Besides nationalist 13,
00:39:21there's a new group called second sons. Second sons
00:39:24doesn't call themselves an active club,
00:39:27but they have the same MO. It's an offshoot of Diagon,
00:39:30a group that's on the radar of Canadian law enforcement,
00:39:33which considers them an extremist militia like
00:39:36organization and second sons, a nationalist 13. They actually
00:39:39know each other. This is Alex friend help,
00:39:42prominent member of Diagon and now second son. We're doing a
00:39:46createspace with the guys from Nationalist 13. Rent is also an
00:39:50open white supremacist. It's very simple. No Jews,
00:39:53no Jews. Here's friend posing at a gym that we identify as
00:39:58Hammer BJJ by matching up the wall padding and light switch
00:40:02with images from social media.
00:40:12We drive there too, to talk to the owner. This is
00:40:15Rob Barrow, the owner of Hammer BJ,
00:40:17and he says he had no idea this happened at his school. I don't
00:40:22affiliate myself with with any sort of white supremacy groups
00:40:26or any sort of supremacy from any faction, any race,
00:40:29any culture. I have a a firm policy that I don't want that
00:40:33those types of behaviors or those types of
00:40:37energies in this place. I'm trying to protect that and
00:40:39trying to foster into something good for the kids of the
00:40:42community that can come here and and better their life. This
00:40:45is something we're seeing happen across the martial arts
00:40:48community is just kind of insidious, gross of
00:40:52far right influence within it and to see something that is so
00:40:56positive to me and many other people being Co opted like this,
00:40:59it's not something I like to see. Second Sons also posted a
00:41:03photo that they say is from Hamilton,
00:41:05but that's not accurate. This photo is actually from Niagara,
00:41:09from this Brazilian jujitsu Joe Niagara. BJ. Well, again,
00:41:13we go and share our findings. They told us they didn't know
00:41:17Second Sons had been training there and now that they know,
00:41:20they're not welcome there anymore.

01:34:32leading to 106 arrests. Now we will be launched again on
01:34:37Friday and ran until November. There's gonna be more resources
01:34:42out on the street, more regular and I think that's
01:34:45going to definitely show some progress. The same areas of
01:34:50downtown, Point Douglas and Osborne will
01:34:53be covered. But this time around,
01:34:55our reach workers from 11 organizations are involved.
01:35:00Some of those groups were critical of police during the
01:35:03first sweep because they weren't consulted. Community
01:35:07groups will now increase their presence where the crackdown is
01:35:10happening, sometimes walk along with
01:35:13uniformed officers to connect people with options for
01:35:16recovery. It's not just those that are using or those that
01:35:19are dealing like this is a human issue. And and, you know,
01:35:23these are our people, these are our relatives. Would
01:35:26resources already strained? Anderson says outreach
01:35:29organizations would likely need to bring more
01:35:32workers and other advocate worries once people connect
01:35:36with outreach groups, there won't be enough spots to
01:35:40provide treatment, leaving people at risk. Police
01:35:43presence doesn't reduce peoples usage but does force people to
01:35:47make choices about how they use, which can be a lot less safe.

01:36:00security, but resources are needed to help
01:36:04people using substances. That's ultimately what we want. Right
01:36:07now, we're just a little overwhelmed
01:36:09with the amount and the volume of people that we're having to
01:36:13work with. Striking a balance between enforcement and
01:36:17outreach to eventually not need drug sweeps down the road.

01:40:51Senator Kramer joins me now. Thank you very much for joining us today, Sir. You had a meeting with
01:40:55Minister LeBlanc. Tell us about it.
01:40:58Well, first of all, it's always a pleasure to,
01:41:00to receive the minister and, and it was,
01:41:03it was great to be able to, to, to meet Janice Charlotte and,
01:41:07and get her perspective as well. In fact,
01:41:09I saw the minister at the Nationals game last week when
01:41:13they were playing Montreal and, and,
01:41:15and Ambassador Wiseman throughout the,
01:41:17the opening pitch. And I think he put it right across the
01:41:21plate. So it's always good to see him. But I think this
01:41:24particular meeting was enjoyable because I feel like
01:41:27there's some momentum taking place and the relationship in some of the
01:41:31negotiations and it was just, it was just a pleasure to to
01:41:34get caught up. You say momentum. What leads you to say that?
01:41:37What is happening that leads you to say that there might be
01:41:40something happening right now?
01:41:43Sure. Well, a couple of things. First of
01:41:45all, it certainly appears in the
01:41:47last they'll probably 3 weeks or so that there's been more of
01:41:51a green light from leadership perhaps in both countries to
01:41:54intensify the the negotiations. Of course,
01:41:57that was probably precipitated by the 338 tariff announcement
01:42:00from the president. And, and so it only makes sense that
01:42:04that everyone would be rolling up their sleeves and,
01:42:07and working a little bit harder at it. And, and I,
01:42:10I've always been encouraged, of course, by the relationship is,
01:42:14is sort of up and down as it's been over the course of the
01:42:17last year or so. This is the first time in a long time that
01:42:21I've felt like there's a seriousness. So we're grateful
01:42:24to see Canada engaging in such a significant way,
01:42:27but also grateful to see, to see that the United States
01:42:30negotiators, Jamison Greer and, and the others and the
01:42:33president and the Prime Minister quite honestly
01:42:36engaging with one another. So I'm encouraged just if by
01:42:39nothing else, simply by that openness that we
01:42:42see taking place. The 338 tariffs, those
01:42:44are the 50% tariffs on approximately $28 billion worth
01:42:48of Canadian goods, right? Do you want those tariffs to
01:42:52come into force?
01:42:54I would like there to be enough progress over the course of the
01:42:58next couple of weeks that those tariffs would not need to go
01:43:01into place. As you know, there are some exemptions to those tariffs that are important to probably to North
01:43:07Dakotans as much as they are to Canadians. Things like potash,
01:43:10for example, energy itself, that's that's sort of exempt
01:43:13from from all of that. But other things like hockey sticks
01:43:16and some of the products you're familiar with are still under
01:43:19that tariff. I, I just would like to see the
01:43:21activity level that we're starting to see already a
01:43:24pickup and see some momentum and then
01:43:26be some substance in the discussions. And you know, we,
01:43:29we may not know the outcomes for sure,
01:43:32but I think momentum matters, Katie,
01:43:35in this case. But I think some substance could be the thing
01:43:39that that either gets the, you know, the,
01:43:42the 338 suspended or even, or extended for,
01:43:45for some time. By extended, I mean, you know,
01:43:48the start of them kicking in after August 19th. And so again,
01:43:52I remain optimistic, but we do have to see some
01:43:56substantive,
01:43:57I think negotiations that result in substantive solutions.
01:44:00So the the Trump administration announced this plan to
01:44:03introduce these new tariffs. They say it is because Canada
01:44:06retaliated. But the only reason that Canada retaliated against
01:44:10the United States with things like some provinces enforcing a
01:44:13booze ban, certain tariffs and quotas and
01:44:16other sectors. The only reason that took place is because
01:44:19President Donald Trump launched a trade war against Canada and,
01:44:23and did not, you know, stick by the agreement,
01:44:25the Kuzma, the USMC agreement that
01:44:27this right now and impose tariffs on Canadian sectors as
01:44:31well as broader tariffs as well. Do you understand that the
01:44:35Canadians when they see Donald Trump escalate this,
01:44:38that there is a sentiment across this country that people
01:44:42want to dig in and fight back?
01:44:45Oh, I, I understand it. Believe me,
01:44:47being a senator from a border state,
01:44:49I was once the tourism director in North Dakota. We,
01:44:52we welcomed about 1 000, 000 Canadian visitors a year in
01:44:56that those days. I'm sure it's more than that, although,
01:44:59so we feel it to your point, the personal level of,
01:45:02of concern and anger. We feel that from the Canadian people.
01:45:06Having said that, Donald Trump is responding to
01:45:09Canada's retaliation. You're correct. He, he, you know,
01:45:13he made the first Bally, but he did
01:45:15with many countries throughout the world. And yet Canada and,
01:45:19and China are the only two countries that that started
01:45:22discriminating against US products and that's what
01:45:26prompted the 338 tariffs. All of that to say, I do understand,
01:45:30you know, the Canadians are concerned
01:45:32about it, but at the same time, we can resolve all this. I have
01:45:36no question about that. No doubt about that. And that's
01:45:40why I'm, that's why I'm more encouraged
01:45:42today by what I heard both from Minister LeBlanc
01:45:45as well as from Janice Charlotte and what I even heard
01:45:48in an interview that you did with foreigner former premier
01:45:52shares. So I, I just think that it's,
01:45:54there's a great opportunity here that will facilitate A
01:45:57conclusion, actually maybe say conclusion,
01:45:59but facilitate enough progress that that the Canadian people
01:46:03can feel better about it, that the American people can
01:46:06feel better about it. And more importantly,
01:46:08there are two nations can do some business together. That's
01:46:12important for both of us. You are a Republican senator. You
01:46:15are an ally of President Donald Trump, and part of the reason why
01:46:18Canadian officials keep meeting with you is because they know
01:46:21that you have a connection to the White House, you have President Donald Trump's ear,
01:46:26and you have expressed public support to sort of end the
01:46:28trade war. When was the last time you you brought this up
01:46:31with the president and what did you say to him?
01:46:35Well, it's interesting. I was in the
01:46:37Oval Office a couple of weeks ago with him. We did not talk
01:46:40about Canada, but I did. But I did visit with,
01:46:43with Jameson girl on my way out the door a little bit about
01:46:47Canada. And he was, you know, he was encouraged by the recent
01:46:51outreach, if you will, by, by the Prime Minister to the
01:46:54president as well as Minister LeBlanc. And so I, I just,
01:46:58I just feel like this is the moment because I don't believe
01:47:01that would have happened unless Donald Trump had given the
01:47:05green light. Ambassador Greer to do that again,
01:47:08much more substantive outreach, much more personal engagement
01:47:12from the top and throughout the ranks. And,
01:47:14and that gives me encouragement. So,
01:47:17but the president and I do talk about Canada. In fact,
01:47:20most of the time when I talked to him,
01:47:22which is fairly regularly, I bring up Canada. We,
01:47:26we have cordial, but you know, I tend to be a little more
01:47:29concerned about the situation. He's very confident about the
01:47:33outcome. I think it's really important, Katie, to
01:47:36for Canadian people to, to think about it this way. Yes,
01:47:40we're neighbors. Yes, we're friends. We've got the
01:47:43most, the longest and the longest
01:47:45running as well as the longest miles or kilometers of peaceful
01:47:48border in any between any two countries in the world.
01:47:53But the president is frustrated and understandably so,
01:47:56by the fact that this 32 1/2 trillion dollar economy down
01:47:59here and year 2 1/2 trillion dollar economy up there results
01:48:02in a trade imbalance that is to the to the favor of Canada. Now,
01:48:05you know, we're, we're probably never going to
01:48:08be a exact balance. I don't know,
01:48:10but we can certainly do better than that. That's because the
01:48:13United States needs Canadian energy. That's why there is the
01:48:16imbalance is because you guys need Canadian energy,
01:48:20OK? And, and fortunately energy is off
01:48:23the off of the plate for the 338 tariffs. I think the
01:48:26president recognizes that. And I would submit to you, Katie,
01:48:30once we get past the, the skirmish, if you will,
01:48:32if that's what you'd want to call it, the family feud,
01:48:36if you, if I could call it that. I
01:48:38think energy, much like food production and
01:48:41national security are some of the areas where as a continent,
01:48:44or at least as you know, as two countries,
01:48:472 neighbors that share a common love for peace and freedom can
01:48:51really would be stronger together. I think we all recognize that. I
01:48:55know that Prime Minister Carney has made tremendous strides,
01:48:59I think in Canada's commitment to NATO and beyond our work
01:49:02with Golden Dome, clearly we can't protect the
01:49:05northern part of the United States without helping protect
01:49:09Canada and vice versa. So there's so much more good we
01:49:12can do together going forward. But these are not insignificant
01:49:16issues. The dairy issue, the the software lumber issue,
01:49:19these are not insignificant issues for that. For that
01:49:22matter, I'm steel and aluminum and the intertwining of our of our
01:49:26supply chains critical not just to 1 country or the other,
01:49:29but to both countries. The last thing I want to ask you about
01:49:33is if there's any clarity you have from the Trump
01:49:35administration about what exactly what action President
01:49:38Donald Trump is going to be taking against Canada because
01:49:42of the wildfire smoke. He said recently that he was asked by a
01:49:45reporter whether he decided on a punishment for Canada because
01:49:49of the wildfire smoke. He said yes,
01:49:51but he didn't reveal any details. What is Donald Trump
01:49:54could be doing about that? Well, I would leave that up to Donald
01:49:58Trump. I, I don't have any clarity to
01:50:00share with you. And if I did, I don't know that I would
01:50:03because I don't know. I, I don't know would. See,
01:50:06I always tell you this coming from a Prairie state on the
01:50:09Canadian border, when that heavy smoke comes
01:50:11down from the prevailing northern northwest winds from
01:50:14Saskatchewan or Alberta, Manitoba into North Dakota,
01:50:17it's frustrating. However, I have a good understanding of
01:50:20just how much force there really is up in Canada,
01:50:23how difficult that challenge is for for the Canadian
01:50:26people as much as it is for us. And I think that's another one
01:50:30of those challenges that perhaps together we could help,
01:50:33we could help fix rather than, you know,
01:50:36rather than argue over, over dairy. Do Donald Trump's
01:50:39threats against Canada help fix the, the, the issue?
01:50:44I I think that Donald Trump's, you can call them threats or,
01:50:47or ultimatums. Well, it's a threat. It's a threat.
01:50:50He's threatening to impose tariffs. He's threatening to
01:50:54impose tariffs. Yeah. So, so here's what Donald Trump is
01:50:57a master negotiator who always negotiates from position of
01:51:01strength. He understands intuitively that we have,
01:51:04you know, 350 million people in the
01:51:06United States. We have a 32 1/2 trillion dollar economy and
01:51:09that there's that we probably can call a few of the shots.
01:51:13That's what Donald Trump
01:51:14does as a businessman. So he's doing as a leader. At the same
01:51:18time, I think it's really, really important that those of
01:51:21us who who are going to be here after Donald Trump was here,
01:51:24who were here before Donald Trump got here,
01:51:27continue the relationship in, in in a friendly way as we do
01:51:30serious business. So that so that time will come and time
01:51:33will go and this will still be the most peaceful long border
01:51:36in the history of the world. Senator Kramer,
