00:00:01a minister that had demonstrated on daily basis, this
00:00:04is the road I'm constructing, he's
00:00:06of going here, he's 30 km, if you tell us who
00:00:10live
00:00:10in a po village that wick should be dispensed, some
00:00:14of them might not be supporters a weekend before, but today
00:00:18you can go to that village without any go any point in time, even in russia
00:00:22hour, how do you address such electorate that i found
00:00:26useful, he
00:00:28in built, he helped them to build a
00:00:31a residential in Wasa, if you go
00:00:34there, if you are one of those who live there, you might be enemy before
00:00:38to weak, but today it might not be, I'll let them
00:00:41not forget, because it's
00:00:43of always good to pick the pieces together, there was a time with so much
00:00:47ang the PDP, it was weeker that picked the
00:00:50of PDP a up, is it only river that he picked
00:00:53up, when I'm
00:00:57distinguish sheriff and we are doing the...
00:01:04he was him that picked PDP up that that his excellency
00:01:08article inherited and decided to this man
00:01:11to betray, no,
00:01:15no, no, don't limit him to river state, please, no, I mean, yeah, of
00:01:19course, in political science, in political science, if you
00:01:23have
00:01:23a crucial election like this, has, don't
00:01:27forget, these governors the are making.
00:01:30of is the election of June 16th, January 16th
00:01:34is cinibus zone is not governor, they might
00:01:38a disappear, in fact some
00:01:40of them have started whispering to their electorate, please three weeks
00:01:44later
00:01:44on my own, whatever you do Mr. President, you know
00:01:48your own, okay, and there's no way you will know
00:01:51them, all right, all right, the electorate, please,
00:01:55whatever you do, Mr. President, I don't, but vote for him, but if you don't vote for him,
00:01:59remember. me three weeks time okay,
00:02:03mean to be fair to wiki like you said
00:02:06uh, it does have uh a good record in
00:02:10terms of infrastructural development in Abuja,
00:02:14and i'm
00:02:14in a witness, because
00:02:16you know i also live in albuja and you know we cannot deny even
00:02:20when we disagree with his politics and we see lot of
00:02:23exercises, we cannot deny uh the work that he has
00:02:27of done, especially on road inf. structure, i think he
00:02:31could do better also in in health and education and he has not
00:02:35left his impret there, but on the
00:02:38of roads hey, you got to give it to him, but last question
00:02:41becuse about time that i want to address to you is that there are
00:02:44considerable worries about the excesses of
00:02:48mr. wick's politics, okay, don't
00:02:51do that about that, now and it has gotten to the
00:02:55point where some
00:02:57of the APCR politics. are
00:03:01just not uncomfortable, that's going to the point that they
00:03:04feel that they have been snobbed and and wick
00:03:08has proceeded as though uh, you know they don't
00:03:12matter, okay now so the the question
00:03:15is is this the best way in your
00:03:19own view to to to to resist some of
00:03:23those exercise which didn't start today of mr wicky some of his political
00:03:27exercis including the way that he has managed the politic. of river
00:03:31state between himself and fubara they've seem to made up
00:03:34now but it will seem that well look mean the fubara
00:03:38guy uh has just been beating
00:03:41up you know blue and black and the guy just
00:03:43of surrender but there are a lot of water that has gone under the
00:03:46bridge so but the question is is
00:03:49this the best way to address the
00:03:53excess of mr
00:03:55a wick last question and that's what i told
00:03:59you that internal mechanisms
00:04:01of the party to resolve
00:04:03of it and also also accord Mr. President the
00:04:07wits and the
00:04:08of wisdom that he can settle such matters, but let me be
00:04:11of honest with you, since
00:04:14of we keep the local football matches
00:04:16of out of corruption, I'm a fan
00:04:19of the European Leagues, I've seen
00:04:22coaches,
00:04:25pay for a striker who they
00:04:28of know had no character. you ask the
00:04:32coach, what are you doing? this man is an idiot, need the
00:04:36goals, you want to win
00:04:39elections, you want to score goals, that's the coach
00:04:42idea, and we are coming to that level, anybody that tells you
00:04:46that we APCs comfort, we are comfortable, he's not being honest with mr
00:04:50president, let us put all
00:04:52of the of firewood in place, luckily for
00:04:56us with the 31 governors we have is
00:05:00is it for Mr. how spread? but if you have spread
00:05:04and you do not have majority, you are bound to
00:05:08go into a runoff, a runoff doesn't ask for
00:05:10of spread the... about that, they don't care about Mr. President, the
00:05:14pretenders, that's why I told Mr. President, the
00:05:18few, very few them pretenders. Thank you, we're going to all
00:05:22see how the president is going to respond to this,
00:05:25the whole, the whole nation is are waiting the president's
00:05:29response, because uh,
00:05:31you know,
00:05:32it is going to determine lot of this. All right, thank you again
00:05:35mces, appreciate that, appreciate, thanks
00:05:38emillion. All right.
00:05:44Welcome back in this segment, I want to have a quick
00:05:47conversation uh with new york
00:05:50based uh author and a media
00:05:53partitioner uh somebody that I've known in the US since I was
00:05:57here uh 20 years ago he was the uh
00:06:01the first African student to be awarded the Tiish
00:06:05School of Art fellowship at the New York University and is also
00:06:09a graduate of Columbia uh School of Journalism. uh where he also
00:06:13has master's degree, that was second master's degree. i like to welcome uh
00:06:17to inside sources for the first time mr. adimala Bello. my
00:06:20brother, good to see you inside sources. good to see you. all right, thank you for
00:06:24inviting me. yeah, so uh, you wrote an
00:06:27article uh, that was published both
00:06:30by uh our own uh medium, that
00:06:34finded empowered news answer reporters uh, and you
00:06:38detailed, you detailed uh the questions.
00:06:42run some the claims of von
00:06:45Batten, the Nigerian born uh
00:06:49lobbies that articu H who changed his name to vombatin, actually his real name is
00:06:53Carl Ikemefuna. now I want you to give
00:06:57our audience a summary of your
00:07:00findings uh that you wrote about in that in that
00:07:04story, which by the way, he has now responded to, but first just give our
00:07:08our viewers a summary of your findings as written in that
00:07:11article. Okay, thank you so much for inviting me, so
00:07:15I through my investigation I find out that
00:07:19he has multiple names like nine names, so
00:07:23and names, nine names, and he also
00:07:27ask all these questionable fabricated
00:07:30degrees, so and he also
00:07:34like uh, he has all this uh like
00:07:37domestic violence uh lawsuit record
00:07:41against this. friend in your report said that
00:07:43there was a conviction he was he was convicted of miss demin assault
00:07:47that's DC why uh
00:07:49Washington Virginia I believe in Virginia I'm not I'm
00:07:53not have
00:07:55to have to double check so it it was after that
00:07:58conviction that he rebranded his name
00:08:02so so what was his name before the conviction it was his his name before was
00:08:06ekemefuna uh okay so
00:08:09and is is his friend at that time
00:08:13was uh Miss Murphy okay so and uh
00:08:17his current wife also rebranded a name so after
00:08:20because his current wife was his was his roommate at
00:08:24that time so when he invited the
00:08:27girlfriend to come for July 4th event in his
00:08:31house and uh his current wife who happened to be his roommate at
00:08:35that time was telling the the
00:08:39girlfriend that he is also having mean
00:08:42relationship with with him and that created
00:08:46conflict tension between those women and he has
00:08:50the girlfriend to leave, that's when the girlfriend alleged
00:08:54that
00:08:54he he drag her out the house and then he was the case became a court
00:08:58case in 2003 and he was convicted and i think that
00:09:02was he
00:09:04was condom domestic violence and the what people got wrong in that
00:09:07case was that
00:09:08you know nigerian media thought like oh it took is get
00:09:12friends last, mean his wife last name, no, both them
00:09:16actually rebranded, so the
00:09:18the wife, so didn't
00:09:18you take is not the name the girlfriend, no, it took the
00:09:22last name, mean both them took a new name, because the last
00:09:26name the girlfriend, as i was saying, the the
00:09:28the surname girlfriend was g r a r,
00:09:32okay, so so so she and rename
00:09:36was katie elizabeth gra right,
00:09:40so and the both them, later married
00:09:44and and
00:09:46adopted carl
00:09:48matin so german
00:09:51you know calm is actually like a german philosopher so he
00:09:55adopted calm's name then von bratin to
00:09:59sound british aristocratic
00:10:02german last name
00:10:03you know like that's like royal family name so so and i believe the
00:10:07reason he did that to package himself so that he will get invited
00:10:11to like - important occasions like when you have a name
00:10:15and people don't see your face like okay you have this aristocratic
00:10:19name so they invite you to all these events so that's
00:10:23part the some
00:10:25are uncover and i also discover that he has
00:10:28used uh as a law base he has
00:10:32used all these uh names of
00:10:36elected republican officials even he used
00:10:39biden's name before so to
00:10:42get all these contract is getting from african countries
00:10:46is not is not so this is not his first uh no this is this
00:10:50is not no no he has represented
00:10:54the... democratic Republic of Congo, he has represented uh
00:10:58Somalia,
00:10:59so he has represented Burundi and he doesn't
00:11:03have a track record as lobbist, so that's why I was shocked
00:11:07that if, but what about those countries that you just, you don't consider
00:11:11this to be his track record uh, because he didn't achieve anything for them,
00:11:15so so most the stuff he was doing is effective on social media,
00:11:19okay, so so he will okay, he didn't achieve, okay, let
00:11:23me give you an example like ' when he was representing Democratic
00:11:27Republic of Congo and there a tension between Congo
00:11:30and Rwanda and he tweeted that uh Paul
00:11:34Kagame the president of Rwanda was banned from
00:11:38attending Washington DC prayer breakfast
00:11:41and uh it immediately the embassy of
00:11:45Rwanda and the US dismissed it like no that's not true and Kagame
00:11:49came to to that event to that to that event oh wow where was
00:11:53this that was like a 2024 okay, so
00:11:57I mean this is interesting and let me just interrupt you going
00:12:00to continue the story, but what you just said now is very important because
00:12:03you know it will seem that there are some people around
00:12:05presidentubu who have
00:12:09uh you know taken the view that because of some of this stuff that is going
00:12:13on and what may somebody may put a stone in in New York you shouldn't
00:12:17come so so you are saying that when something
00:12:19like that happened regarding Kagame you know Kagame
00:12:23actually showed up yeah. I mean show up because
00:12:26you know like uh no disrespect to people that work for president
00:12:30maybe they are so scared of this uh carmas from batting
00:12:34because every time he always tweetted like okay tagging president
00:12:38trump basically the rei washington
00:12:42k street lobbies they don't do that so so like you don't
00:12:46pretend to be like a you know like being
00:12:50like polarizing figure as a lobbist like he's
00:12:53basically
00:12:54like a doing more like mager so so when you
00:12:58will see everything is tweeting like a it seems
00:13:01like a he will tag uh you will see sweet
00:13:05it will tag jedvance it will tag president trump it will tag
00:13:09morubio it will tag susi wise mean the white house
00:13:13chief of staff and the senator tim scott and
00:13:17even from what i find out -
00:13:21senator tim scott's office uh they uh they said
00:13:25are taking action on him because because he's using the
00:13:28senator's name to like uh promote
00:13:32himself so and two other republican
00:13:35congressman from florida uh bran
00:13:38mast and another one
00:13:41greg uh i forgot his last name but they are also
00:13:45also from florida so they are also taking action against him
00:13:48so so you are saying that you are surprised that uh atuk abubakar the
00:13:52ADC president candidate uh uh or this guy? yeah,
00:13:56i'm surprised and the and i'm shocked, that's
00:14:00why i said in my article that article should fired
00:14:04people that ask him to pay from batting $1.2 million dollars
00:14:07because they sabotage this campaign, because you will expect somebody of
00:14:11articus caliber that somebody was a former
00:14:15vice president to have like knowledge of
00:14:19okay how the system really works in the us, if you want to hire a lobbist
00:14:23you hire like at least competent case rate
00:14:26lobbis so not somebody that most of his engagement is on social
00:14:30media and i think is using the reason why he was
00:14:33able you see like he has not really gotten any really
00:14:37significant country to represent in africa except until or
00:14:41this article is like the highest
00:14:45person that the most pr mean high profile person
00:14:48that that is represent other people like
00:14:52DRC Democratic Republic of Congo Burundi.
00:14:55and then Somalia so and and I think it's just
00:14:59using them and they're using all these elected republican names
00:15:03to to just
00:15:06to to prop himself up like okay so he's
00:15:09a is a well established or he has all this connection so and most of
00:15:12his engagement and on social media and if you see some the
00:15:16things he was saying about Kagami as if like US is going to impose
00:15:20sanctions on Rwanda and all these things didn't
00:15:23work out so... so he just like maybe just
00:15:27getting paid without doing much and we do lot of social
00:15:31media yeah yeah social media engagement but the thing is that the the the
00:15:35presidency as mr b got, i think about
00:15:39a week ago, has actually responded to him,
00:15:41you know, do you think that uh, if he was able to get a
00:15:45presidential response, don't you think that means that he's probably getting under some
00:15:49people's skin? uh, maybe, you know, i can't speak for
00:15:53them, but but maybe he's getting under their skin, because uh, because i'm
00:15:57just surprised that the uh the
00:16:00presidency even didn't even take action on this
00:16:03guy, such as because because i believe what
00:16:07he's doing, he violated the the
00:16:11foreign registration act for as lobbies in the
00:16:14US, because what he's doing basically cross the line, that's not what
00:16:18a lobby, because lobb is like okay, you are representing somebody, but what
00:16:22is dabbling into is like representing
00:16:26like a political party,
00:16:27you know, so to certain extent like because his engagement, it's not just
00:16:31about representing article now like like - most of
00:16:35his tweets that is everything is
00:16:38doing, i think it basically
00:16:42violated the US lobby uh act if if they if
00:16:46they actually read the lobby's provisions so they will know what i'm
00:16:50talking about that interesting that that they didn't take action on it okay
00:16:53so what what do you have to say about uh uh the fact that he
00:16:57he announced you know that he's gotten this white house commissioner
00:17:01presidential commissioner role and then he deleted it what do you think was going on
00:17:05it was just a lie so let's just call
00:17:08it a spad
00:17:09is paid so he didn't get any white house position so what
00:17:13he i think what he was trying to project is just to project
00:17:17like somebody who has authority figure in the US so by
00:17:21saying that okay he got this white house position
00:17:24everybody the presidency will be afraid of him right so the they will think like an
00:17:28article we think is doing a good job for him because the reason
00:17:32is making all this money yeah is because
00:17:36he tie himself to president Trump like he
00:17:40donated $5,000 to republican party and he thinks
00:17:43like by donating $500 to republican party uh
00:17:47that gives him protection from anything,
00:17:51i see that a lot of his tweet says uh my friends in
00:17:55department of justice, my friends
00:17:57in mean that that
00:18:01is clearly you know somebody that is uh trying to be out
00:18:04their wit because it's not supposed to be about friends. it's supposed to be about rules
00:18:08and regulation, exactly, and that's that's another way of
00:18:12like violating the f act the
00:18:16lobbies, what what what they call the
00:18:19for at foreign acting the people in department of state and justice department as his
00:18:23friends and yes i think something is that doesn't sound
00:18:26very very right, but you know uh, my view is
00:18:30that he has a right to change his name, you don't think that
00:18:34is legal, everybody has a right to change their name or vice
00:18:38president Jd Vance right, he change his name, okay, so but what
00:18:42is different is that when you the
00:18:45motive behind the changing of name, you know, like he changed his own name after he was
00:18:49convicted of domestic of a crime
00:18:53and he has to rebranded himself and now using multiple
00:18:57names, it's not just changing the name like when you see
00:19:01like all the people is represented as lobbist he call himself
00:19:05carl v batin.
00:19:12so so like you have to be like so so it's using all
00:19:16these multiple names for for for whatever
00:19:20reason you know it's it's just so strange
00:19:23how is using all these like a multiple names in
00:19:27different in differen documents
00:19:31so that that is like red flag you know so it's not just about changing
00:19:35name but when you are using it in different different Yeah, yeah, and
00:19:39then if you look at his uh foreign act, the foreign
00:19:43registration of lobby's act, you was required to
00:19:46state his uh citizenship, if it was different from being an
00:19:50American, but he left that place vacant exactly
00:19:54uh, you are claimed that he is in Nigerian, yes, because I've seen a video,
00:19:58which means that by not declaring, by not answering that question, he was insinuating a
00:20:02lie, yeah, it was insinuating a lie, but though I may not know
00:20:06whether he submitted. form where
00:20:10we have the one we have on record in public domain
00:20:13is it didn't declare that he wasn't born in the US so
00:20:17he basically left it blank to insinuate that maybe he was born in
00:20:21the US but how do we prove how do you prove that is
00:20:25wasn't born in the US uh because because he he in the
00:20:29in many the online accounts that even
00:20:33daily times of Nigeria and other people reported that I cited in my article
00:20:37right? he said during the 11 he was young
00:20:40immigrant from Nigeria and he called
00:20:44himself that he was at
00:20:46the 39th floor of world trade center and he said he was investment.
00:20:50banker do you know if they say somebody is investment
00:20:53banker, investment banker is somebody who
00:20:57match companies yeah who created an IPO like
00:21:01a you know so what do we know that he wasn't so so so okay let's put
00:21:05ourself in that show like just imagine like young immigrant that just
00:21:08came and uh you are to be investment
00:21:12banker to be investment banker you know it's a
00:21:16different thing investment banker is different from just working a bank mmm
00:21:20investment banker is the person
00:21:23a major of major
00:21:27corporations, i see, so investment banker is the one
00:21:30that handles the IPOs of public
00:21:34trader mean companies right, so I guess it was just basically
00:21:38embellising, yes, so so so that
00:21:40that that is another uh reflect about him, but in your
00:21:44article you also spoke about the fact that you question some of his degrees, can
00:21:47you talk yeah yeah yeah so so so
00:21:50in in my article like okay uh on
00:21:53his uh research gate profile for example
00:21:57and link so he claimed that is a professor of
00:22:00mathematics at colombia university okay so he
00:22:04listed himself as a professor of mathematics and he said that he got
00:22:08this doctor of earth administration at
00:22:11colombia university colombia doesn't offer that so colombia university does
00:22:15not offer that what about his name
00:22:19in on the on the stff of colombia uh his name
00:22:23was not there
00:22:24you know what i actually did when i saw that all the stuff
00:22:27he did like claim went to colombia university so i
00:22:31forwarded uh
00:22:33you took a screenshot and send the his information
00:22:36to colombia board of trusty member that i know
00:22:40and he send it to other members of colombia board of
00:22:43trusties and i said oh can you guys really
00:22:46say a statement this guy did
00:22:47not attend colombian university they said they said
00:22:51they don't normally release a statement about somebody making false claims
00:22:55because they don't want to give the person attention right so so so so that that's
00:22:59that's
00:22:59what is told me you know so so colombia and other schools
00:23:03may not because there are so many people that impasonates like you
00:23:07claiming like oh they went and if they start to releasing the statement
00:23:11is the like giving these people attention so my question is that he also
00:23:14now said you implied that you work for the
00:23:18table presidency how do you respond to that? "that is totally
00:23:21ridiculous, because i've never met anybody from tinubu
00:23:25administration, as you know me very well,
00:23:28like so so and i have
00:23:32lot of integrity, so i don't this is this is
00:23:35about reporting the fact, so this is not about
00:23:39tinubu or anybody in Tinobu administration, and about him saying
00:23:43that and that he has to prove it that i work for
00:23:47administration, because i've never met anybody." corresponding
00:23:51with them so so it's just like a trying to that's
00:23:55another thing that serious lobbies we get is fat
00:23:58rights okay so this is not the first time i've
00:24:02been writing writing critical articles against
00:24:05nigerian politicians so i've witten everything
00:24:08against you know
00:24:12you know even vice president you so so i've been doing
00:24:16that so so for him to say that oh i work for administration is
00:24:20just it's just a way to just distract from the fact because
00:24:24he didn't want uh people to focus on the
00:24:28truth you know so and and for him to just get
00:24:31away like okay let me just make a more
00:24:35force at landish claim and
00:24:37i and i think that is that has been his static as lobbist because he has never
00:24:41really have any track record so so for his law uh for
00:24:45his his claim that he's going to uh file
00:24:48a lawsuit. Yeah uh, I welcome it,
00:24:52because he will, I will be happy because he
00:24:56will, I will get an opportunity to depose him, and he has
00:24:59to prove under oats that all the claims, all the
00:25:02claims, and and he has to prove that everything in my
00:25:06article is not based on what is in public
00:25:10domain, so because every other other people are friend about him,
00:25:13so he has to prove this thing that everything in that
00:25:17article is not true and ' the bodying of
00:25:21proof is her name to to to to the bunk all the things to
00:25:25debunk all the claims because he has to prove like okay
00:25:28uh did he not claim that uh
00:25:31because that he has multiple aliasis
00:25:35different names he did not claim that it's a professor at colombia
00:25:39university has doctorate the did not claim he went to university of
00:25:42edimbrah so did not claim is i mean he
00:25:46was working on wall street during that 11 as investment bank.
00:25:50so he has to debunk this and did he not is it not
00:25:54true that he was convicted of domestic assault against his
00:25:58former girlfriend i actually saw the court exactly
00:26:01so so he asked the body of proof is on name so and and i think
00:26:04like uh by threating this thing i'm not the kind of
00:26:08person that can be intimidated so i welcome it
00:26:12and he's going to be embarrassed going to be embarrassed that's very interesting you
00:26:16know well you know it's - it's a very interesting conversation
