00:07:08The Main Board of the New Željezara Zenica Trade Union demands from
00:07:11the company's management to pay severance pay to all workers by
00:07:15August 10th or they will go on strike. At today's
00:07:18conference, they emphasized that if protests occur, they invite
00:07:22citizens of Zenica to join them, because it is certain that
00:07:25there will be no district heating in that

00:11:25which is, to put it mildly, unfair,
00:11:28and we are all aware that the
00:11:32management's responsibility is huge, and my colleague mentioned,
00:11:35and you followed that during the past months, what was promised
00:11:39and to what extent, what
00:11:42renaissance there was regarding the new Željezara Zenica, we are in
00:11:45a situation where we are considering bankruptcy,
00:11:49i.e., the termination of contracts for all workers. What is
00:11:53very important to emphasize in this whole situation is that we have been
00:11:57open and transparent, so today's invitation to the management for
00:12:00addressing at a joint press conference
00:12:04clearly shows in which direction the management is thinking, ultimately
00:12:07as a result of all that, we have this situation that we have today,
00:12:11next week a decision should be made
00:12:15on the proposal for bankruptcy of the new Željezara Zenica,
00:12:18which was submitted by the management of the new Željezara
00:12:22Zenica as early as December
00:12:2517, 2025. Their intention was for that bankruptcy
00:12:28to start already in the new year, well, thank
00:12:31God, thanks to the activities of the trade union and drawing
00:12:35attention to the importance of Željezara Zenica, here
00:12:38we are still alive today and people are employed, they received seven
00:12:42salaries, in the past period they received vacation pay and financial aid under the collective
00:12:45agreement, all rights.

00:12:50a decision on initiating bankruptcy proceedings, this will result
00:12:54in the termination of all
00:12:56employment contracts, meaning for all
00:12:591480 workers who are currently
00:13:01employed, bearing in mind that
00:13:05fact, the main board of the new Željezara trade union
00:13:08and I was present at the meeting held its extraordinary meeting
00:13:12this morning at 9 am,
00:13:15conclusions and demands were adopted,
00:13:18which I will now read, we
00:13:21will of course distribute them to you in printed form so that you can
00:13:25present them further to the public, so number one,
00:13:29we demand from the management of Nova Željezara Zenica to pay
00:13:33severance pay based on technological surplus to all workers before the opening
00:13:36of bankruptcy, in the amount in accordance with Article 111 of the Labor
00:13:39Law, the request for payment of severance pay does not mean
00:13:43our giving up the fight for production and jobs, but
00:13:47securing the existential basis for workers until
00:13:50the eventual resumption of production, entering
00:13:53bankruptcy converts into a claim in bankruptcy
00:13:57for which it is difficult to predict when it will be realized.
00:14:01Second: we demand immediate measures to take care
00:14:04of workers who will lose their jobs, financing
00:14:08retraining, additional training, mediation
00:14:11in finding a job with another employer, subsidies for
00:14:14employment with another employer, so-called voucher
00:14:18employment, purchase of years of service in accordance with the law, as well as
00:14:21material assistance. The bearers of these activities must be the Management
00:14:25of Nova Željezara Zrenica and the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina as
00:14:29co-owners, each in accordance with their
00:14:32competencies. Under three. We demand from
00:14:35the employment service of the Zenica-Doboj Canton
00:14:37to immediately take action to secure
00:14:41the necessary funds for the payment of monetary compensation for
00:14:44unemployment to workers who register with the labor office, or
00:14:48to request the missing funds in a timely manner
00:14:51from the Federal Employment Agency, such is the procedure
00:14:55written in the Law on Employment Mediation, meaning if the employment service of the Zenica-Doboj Canton
00:14:58estimates that it will not have enough
00:15:01funds, it must address the founder, which is the canton,
00:15:05and then together they address the Federal Employment Service which should
00:15:08allocate the missing funds, it is estimated that more
00:15:12than a thousand workers of Nova Željezara Zenica could initially
00:15:15register with the employment service for their benefits, bearing
00:15:19in mind that this benefit is 40% of the average salary in the federation, or some
00:15:22600.80 marks, and the average duration of payments would be about 12
00:15:26months, so for their benefits about
00:15:30900,000 marks per month would be needed,
00:15:32which is more than 10 million, meaning for those approximately
00:15:36one year.
00:15:39Fourth, we demand the continuation of negotiations and activities
00:15:43of the Federation Government and the management
00:15:46to ensure conditions for the re-launch
00:15:49of production with the employment of as many
00:15:52workers as possible. Otherwise, we demand from the Government of the Federation of BiH to submit
00:15:56a new proposal for the opening of extraordinary administration proceedings in
00:15:59Nova Željezara Zenica in accordance with a special
00:16:02law. Under five. The facilities
00:16:06for integral steel production of the company Nova Željezara
00:16:09Zenica are a resource of special strategic importance for the Federation of Bosnia
00:16:13and Herzegovina. We demand from the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to
00:16:17ensure by appropriate legal, statutory
00:16:20or other means that they must not be
00:16:23destroyed, damaged, alienated, mortgaged
00:16:26or encumbered in any other way
00:16:29except with the explicit consent of the Federation Government as
00:16:33co-owner of Nova Željezara

00:16:39the factory won't go anywhere, what is currently happening doesn't mean that
00:16:43it will never work again, the blast furnace was renovated in 2018,
00:16:47over 50 million marks were invested, it can
00:16:50work for the next 15 to 20 years without any problems,
00:16:54if, of course, the conditions
00:16:57are met, meaning we are not
00:17:00giving up, absolutely, this is perhaps the end of the first
00:17:03half for us, this match has a second half, with all our

00:20:15from those who do it in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the influence
00:20:18of other countries is increasingly noticeable, and this resolution adopted
00:20:22in the Croatian Parliament was perhaps the trigger, I announced this topic
00:20:25earlier and we wanted to do it sometime in
00:20:29the spring of this year, due to some obligations we didn't, so
00:20:33in the meantime we have that resolution and my colleague Mehmedović has been dealing with this topic since the very
00:20:37beginning of this mandate when he received
00:20:40those shocking figures in the Council of Ministers that speak about the real position
00:20:44of the constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the resolution was
00:20:47a trigger to return to the framework of arguments, to return
00:20:51to the real situation, to numbers, to define, first
00:20:55of all, terms that some misuse in Bosnia and
00:20:58Herzegovina, what is constituent status, what is legitimate
00:21:00representation, what do the laws of Bosnia and Herzegovina say,

00:21:10resolution was adopted, today we have Dalija

00:21:38need to discuss further, apart from that issue
00:21:42that the Croatian side raises, which is completely
00:21:45constitutional, legal, legitimate at the state level and concerns
00:21:48the position of the member of the presidency. Most Bosniak leaders
00:21:52commented on whether it is fair or not, and we all have the right to
00:21:55our own views, so there are a series
00:21:59of other indicators that are shockingly to the detriment
00:22:02of Bosniaks in this country, it's not a weakness, it was the desire

00:24:33legitimate representation what that kind of discussion
00:24:36has brought to the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina so far.
