00:16:03There is state monitoring which the Ministry of Health
00:16:07and the Croatian Institute of Public Health prescribe
00:16:11separately for each year, and there is an official
00:16:14message to citizens who use drinking water
00:16:18from Lika waterworks that the water is completely
00:16:22safe and that there is no danger to their health.
00:16:25Lika water confirmed in an interview with N1 that
00:16:29the water is microbiologically correct and added that
00:16:32the last analysis for the city of Gospić
00:16:35for PFAS compounds was done in March.
00:16:39In Otočac, the last analysis was done in April.
00:16:42That's when we had the monitoring of the springs
00:16:45planned, that's why the last PFAS analyses were done
00:16:49then. And here in Gospić, in Gospić, an extraordinary
00:16:53analysis was done in March at the Mrđenovac
00:16:56spring, a random shaft was taken in the center

00:17:34water supplies in the vicinity. All results were

00:17:41claimed that the water is correct if the last
00:17:45PFAS analysis was done in March or April?
00:17:49It is especially important to note that these articles
00:17:53in the newspapers that appear in the media
00:17:56in general, about the increased concentrations
00:18:00of these polyfluorinated hydrocarbons, is something
00:18:03that was taken at the landfill itself, that
00:18:07is, in the piezometer located at the landfill itself. However,
00:18:11these values will certainly not be found in Gacka,
00:18:14or in the water that is drawn for drinking.
00:18:17At the same time, the Gospić is Our Home initiative
00:18:20demands constant monitoring, because the expert examination
00:18:23from the USKOK investigation showed the penetration of dangerous compounds into
00:18:27groundwater downstream from the now infamous silo.
00:18:30They came, they didn't set up a measuring station,
00:18:34but they periodically come and take samples from
00:18:38that Ostrrica bridge on the Lika River and control
00:18:41the water. So no one looked at the maps and saw, or asked someone,
00:18:45or delved deeper to see that the water is actually
00:18:49upstream. In the meantime, the institute announced
00:18:53again, it called on citizens with wells and
00:18:57cisterns to report their water sources
00:19:01below the waste disposal site in Gospić, with
00:19:04the aim of preventive health protection of the population,
00:19:07the institute is urgently collecting data on individual
00:19:11local water supply. We ask all residents
00:19:14of the mentioned areas who own their own wells,
00:19:18cisterns or are supplied from local waterworks
00:19:22that are not part of the public water supply system,
00:19:25to urgently contact the institute. Water in the
00:19:29public water supply system in the entire area of
00:19:32these cities and municipalities has been fully checked
00:19:36and is safe for drinking. It is important to emphasize
00:19:39that current analytical data, which are regularly
00:19:43carried out within the framework of national and
00:19:46source monitoring, do not indicate any impact
00:19:50of leachate from the Gospić waste landfill
00:19:54on the public water supply system. The last analysis
00:19:57in Gospić for PFAS compounds was done
00:20:00yesterday, and the results are expected soon. Hana

00:20:08Union today, new rules came into force that
00:20:12limit the use of PFAS chemicals in food packaging.

00:20:55some can accumulate in the human body.
00:20:59Certain PFAS compounds are associated with a
00:21:02number of possible harmful effects on health, including
00:21:06the immune system, metabolism, and reproductive health.
00:21:09Manufacturers and restaurateurs will have to gradually
00:21:12switch to safer packaging materials. Now, unrelated to the
00:21:16case in Lika, the water
00:21:19from the public water supply in the settlements
00:21:23of Orlec, Krčina, and Loznati on the island
00:21:26of Cres does not meet the conditions for human
00:21:30consumption. The city of Cres was informed
