00:10:15of the government, whoever submits them we give signatures,
00:10:19we support such initiatives, what needs to be clear to us is that it is not

00:10:25and bring a new HDZ government with new partners to
00:10:28power, it is necessary to overthrow the HDZ from

00:10:35all institutions at all levels of this country. An extraordinary session

00:11:49take responsibility for the stated situation and act immediately in
00:11:53the interest of Croatian citizens. Therefore, as a member of parliament,
00:11:57I hereby formally invite you to use your constitutional
00:12:00powers to convene an extraordinary session of the Croatian
00:12:04Parliament, at which the item of urgent remediation of waste in Gospić will be placed on the agenda,
00:12:07proportional financial resources will be provided, and the government will be compelled to commit
00:12:11to the Croatian Parliament, and thus to all citizens of Croatia, to a concrete
00:12:15deadline within which the stated remediation will take place. Although
00:12:18Milanović has not yet commented, he has not hidden his dissatisfaction
00:12:22with this government until now. Will a vote of no confidence
00:12:26in the government be passed and will the opposition remain

00:13:50New findings of the Croatian
00:13:54Institute of Public Health show that the water
00:13:57from the water supply network in Gospić, caused in
00:14:01the Lika cafe, as well as the water from the Mrdjenovac spring,
00:14:04complies with the prescribed values. The sample was taken on
00:14:07Tuesday, and numerous chemical parameters were analyzed,
00:14:10including PF compounds. No
00:14:13exceedance of any tested parameter was found, and the final assessment
00:14:17of the HZZ is compliant. It is important, however, to emphasize that the
00:14:21results refer exclusively to specific samples and, by themselves,
00:14:25cannot be proof that all water in the Gospić area is the same,
00:14:28nor do they answer the question of possible soil
00:14:32or groundwater contamination around the illegal
00:14:34landfill.
00:14:38On Tuesday, August 11, 2026,
00:14:41water sampling was carried out in the Lika-Senj County area,
00:14:45during which three samples of raw
00:14:50the point of use were taken. The results of the conducted analyses
00:14:53show that all tested water samples are in compliance with
00:14:56the prescribed values and that the determined concentrations are below
00:15:00the maximum permissible concentrations prescribed by
00:15:03the pravilnik on conformity parameters, analysis methods and monitoring
00:15:06of water intended for human
00:15:10consumption. In all samples, the concentrations of all
00:15:13analyzed Pefas compounds, as well as their sum, were below
00:15:17the quantification limit. The results are in line with
00:15:20previous analyses that are regularly carried out at the source in
00:15:24the water supply. Additional chemical microbiological
00:15:27analyses are still underway, and due to the time required for their
00:15:31implementation, their results will be published later. The Croatian
00:15:34Institute of Public Health will continue to monitor the situation and promptly
00:15:38inform the public about the results of the conducted
00:15:41analyses.
00:15:44And the Gospić case has reached the European Union, primarily
00:15:48thanks to the citizens, says MEP Gordan
00:15:51Bosanac. Seven residents of the Gospić area who live near
00:15:55the landfill in Brussels have been subjected to blood tests
00:15:58for Pefa compounds. Results are expected by the end of this month or
00:16:02early next month. The initiative Gospić naš
00:16:05dom submitted a petition to the European Parliament committee, and Bosanac
00:16:09announced that it should be on the agenda in October. He says that
00:16:13the European Commission will have to seek answers from Croatian

00:18:53of seeking various solutions in Europe, it needs to be remediated this
00:18:56instant, look, this is like a fire burning,
00:19:00they admit that it's burning in the local HDZ, they are appalled, they say,
00:19:04by the fact that potentially dangerous waste was illegally
00:19:08dumped here, so they confirmed that they asked institutions for the expert
00:19:12assessment. We have already requested it in writing
00:19:15based on the information I have and I think we will get that finding
00:19:19and we will immediately inform the public about the findings of that
00:19:22expert assessment, actually about everything that is here below us, and we are
00:19:26actually at the place where that waste was deposited or
00:19:30dumped. They requested an extraordinary water quality measurement from
00:19:33the county public health institute. Nobody is
00:19:37comfortable, I'm not comfortable standing here either, what you said, maybe we are also
00:19:41inhaling that unfortunate plastic and those
00:19:44particles, but here we are. The local
00:19:47SDP wonders why the expert assessment for
00:19:51Gospić was published, but not for Benkovac, they insist that the
00:19:54culprit for this be found and punished. Citizens of
00:19:57Benkovac and surrounding settlements have the right to know about the quality of
00:20:01the soil and the quality of the soil, i.e., the amount of
00:20:04pollution, uh, in Benkovac
00:20:07itself. From this place, I will announce that we will
00:20:10certainly engage experts and
00:20:13independent laboratories to conduct an analysis because we do not trust
00:20:17institutions. Our demands are very simple,
00:20:20meaning we want seriousness in solving this remediation, seriousness
00:20:24and urgency, we want
00:20:27uh an extraordinary session of parliament
00:20:30to be convened as soon as possible, because if anything
00:20:34requires an extraordinary session of parliament, it is this
00:20:38situation. Ultimately, we want extraordinary elections, and for the citizens
00:20:42of Benkovac, the only important thing is to know what is here

00:22:02contamination in the Gospić area around the
00:22:05hazardous illegal waste landfill at Silos occurred
00:22:08by penetrating into groundwater, where in one sample
00:22:12of piezometer, twice the amount of that prescribed
00:22:15for human consumption was found, this, as you can see, does not mean
00:22:18that it is automatically in the potable water supply
00:22:22system, mm, but it is forgotten
00:22:26that the experts determined
00:22:28the transfer of contamination through two other media, one through
00:22:31the soil and one through, that is, particles
00:22:34of hazardous microplastics and dust
00:22:38containing toxic substances through the air
00:22:41which spreads up to 200 m, so contamination was found on
00:22:45surrounding plants and the contamination itself spread from the body
00:22:49of the landfill, completely contaminating another
00:22:5250 m of soil around the landfill body and with
00:22:56a great danger that it will spread to another 200
00:22:59m, meaning we must
00:23:02prevent the establishment
00:23:05of PFAS in drinking water
00:23:08in water supply pipes for human
00:23:11consumption, you can see the seriousness of the situation due to
00:23:15the fact that after the publication of the expert opinion,
00:23:18the regional institute for... public health of Lika-Senj
00:23:22County immediately called on citizens
00:23:25to sample water from
00:23:29wells, or that they will sample it for their needs from wells
00:23:33and from all those other, that is,
00:23:36water sources that people use, whether they
00:23:39drink it, or whether they irrigate their fields
00:23:42and agricultural lands with it, or whether
00:23:45their animals drink the same water.
00:23:49Livestock, uh, meaning from wells, because it is
00:23:53clear that contamination of groundwater
00:23:56has occurred and this is actually an alarm to which
00:24:00the expert's findings and opinion point that remediation should start as soon as possible,
00:24:03because if it doesn't start, uh, we risk
00:24:07this contamination spreading further, then we never
00:24:10know where that groundwater contamination
00:24:13will end up in the karst soil, where these particles will
00:24:17end up, which animals will eat these
00:24:21already partially contaminated plants, and that is why
00:24:24for these reasons urgency is needed, meaning
00:24:27if one day, I hope we never determine that PFAS has entered
00:24:31drinking water, then the matter is over, meaning then it is too late
00:24:34and then we will no longer be able to remove all those consequences,
00:24:38that is actually the
00:24:41meaning of civil action in the city of Gospić
00:24:44to urgently undertake remediation, as these
00:24:48experts instruct, to prevent pollution that can be very
00:24:52dangerous for human health, and environmental
00:24:54damage has already been done in this area
00:24:58and to thus prevent further damage to the environment.
00:25:00Mhm, well, tomorrow will be an opportunity to present
00:25:04all that to the parliamentary committee for environmental protection, where both
00:25:08the ruling party and the opposition will be at the same table,
00:25:11Minister Vučković and Minister Hrstić have announced their
00:25:15attendance. What exactly do you expect from that session, do you believe
00:25:19that you will find, let's call it, fertile ground with your
00:25:22demands that you have now presented?
00:25:26Well, I must say that unfortunately
00:25:30these data on the type and quantities
00:25:33of waste are precisely thanks to civic
00:25:36activism, specifically our initiative and all those citizens
00:25:40who support us, after a big protest in
00:25:44Gospić on June 27th announcements that we will
00:25:47undertake further civic actions, we were received
00:25:51for a meeting in the government which was led by Deputy Prime Minister
00:25:54Bačić, and in fact, only then did we receive waste analyses
00:25:58that date back to 2024,
00:26:01and we see that... at that time the chief state attorney also announced
00:26:05and confirmed what we have been saying for a year and a half since the initiative
00:26:08was founded, that in fact uh all findings of that
00:26:12waste, findings of opinions that are available must be available
00:26:16to the public because this is about a prevailing public
00:26:19interest, and we see in fact, uh,
00:26:23that without civic activism, we hear
00:26:26criticism from Benkovac that Gospić knows about its
00:26:29findings, but we don't. It's sad that
00:26:32so much effort by citizens has been put in to get something
00:26:36that according to the positive regulations of the Republic
00:26:40of Croatia, the public itself had the right to. Furthermore,

00:27:58sources of drinking water, that uh, all those heavy
00:28:01metals be tested for that the findings indicated
00:28:05were elevated, from several tens of times to
00:28:09even 700 times, for example, antimony, which we see is also soluble
00:28:12in water because it was found in the eluate sample, that
00:28:16regular analyses be performed
00:28:19on soil, on plants, and in fact, that we have
00:28:22continuous, incessant monitoring. Unfortunately, even one day when
00:28:26we hope that this waste will be removed as soon as
00:28:29possible, health safety
00:28:32and environmental protection will require
00:28:36a ten-year, twenty-year, maybe longer monitoring
00:28:40of harmful consequences, because as you know, PFAS compounds
00:28:43are PFAS compounds found in groundwater, heavy
00:28:47metals found in plants in the soil - which
00:28:51spread through the air, are actually difficult
00:28:55to eradicate, they are almost eternal, that's why they
00:28:58are called eternal chemicals, and in fact
00:29:01we will have to... uh constantly, so to speak, watch
00:29:04over our health safety and over
00:29:07environmental protection. What we have been warning about
00:29:10all this time is that those cases that are already
00:29:14known in Europe do not happen to us, they happened precisely
00:29:18because action was not taken in time, or rather, it was taken
00:29:21too late. One example is hazardous
00:29:25waste in the so-called triangle of death south of Naples, where
00:29:29serious health consequences only began to be discovered
00:29:3210 to 15 years after that waste was disposed of, and we
00:29:36now have a recent example where for 20 years one of the richest
00:29:40European countries, Germany, in its Mittle
00:29:43Baden region has been struggling with dangerous PFAS compounds that have penetrated into groundwater
00:29:47which actually endanger health and life, and if Germany,
00:29:50with all its wealth and advanced technology, has not been able to solve
00:29:54this for 20 years, then we must
00:29:57understand the seriousness of our problem. The greatest value of Croatia,
00:30:01which we are all proud of, "that
00:30:03is beautiful nature, huge sources of drinking water
00:30:07of which Lika, I would say, leads, our beautiful
00:30:10sinking rivers Lika and Gacka which supply not only Lika but also
00:30:14the Croatian Littoral Pagerap, so we must preserve that,
00:30:18because we believe that is true patriotism and true
00:30:22responsibility towards the area in which we live. Unfortunately,
00:30:25this is not necessary, I call on everyone once again, do not reduce this
00:30:29to political squabbles, we will lose focus of
00:30:32the most important thing, which is the protection of health and life.
