00:00:31Good afternoon, you are watching the news, the
00:00:32event of the day.
00:00:37Test elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina are proceeding with many problems, numerous polling
00:00:40stations were not opened on time. The delivery of test
00:00:43ballots is delayed.
00:00:46Knife attack in a high school in Zagreb, a student and a
00:00:49cleaner were injured.
00:00:52A quarter of a century since the attack on the Twin Towers and America is marking it with a
00:00:56new war, due to which a gallon of diesel is $6.
00:01:03Test elections with new technologies are being held today in Bosnia and Herzegovina,
00:01:07problems appeared right at the beginning. Namely, for individual polling
00:01:10stations, test ballots
00:01:13The company that was engaged for this job was late with printing
00:01:17and distributing those ballots, said
00:01:20Suda Arnautović, a member of CIK. Now a serious question is being raised
00:01:24about the organization of the entire process, especially considering that the trial voting
00:01:28was presented as an important test of readiness for the implementation of new
00:01:31technologies.
00:01:34During the day, certain technical problems occurred where
00:01:37from this our base, meaning the Central Election
00:01:41Commission and its distribution centers, as far as I have
00:01:44information, currently in the entire Sarajevo Canton, these test
00:01:48ballots have not yet arrived, so we were not
00:01:51able to materially
00:01:54and physically carry out today's training
00:01:57this work with
00:02:01the opportunity, since we arranged the polling station
00:02:04diligently with citizens, we conducted this one
00:02:08oral training as it should look on election
00:02:11day
00:02:12in
00:02:17a high school in the Zagreb neighborhood Voltino this morning around 8 am,
00:02:21an attack occurred in which a student injured another student and a cleaner
00:02:25with a sharp object. Frightened students immediately after 8 am
00:02:29frantically informed their parents that a
00:02:32with a knife was moving through the building. The attacker is under police supervision,
00:02:36while the injured received
00:02:40managed to run out of
00:02:43the street. Violence must never be met with
00:02:46violence. That is what our schools teach students from
00:02:50the first grade of elementary school and it is already taught in kindergarten,
00:02:53meaning that all conflicts should be resolved
00:02:57through conversation in a peaceful tone of friendship.
00:03:00That friendship is more important than anything
00:03:03that can be learned and
00:03:05discovered in school.
00:03:08The election campaign officially began in Novi Sad with a gathering of the student
00:03:12movement where some of the candidates and leaders of the upcoming
00:03:15campaign were presented. To victory and after victory, we follow the principles
00:03:19of justice, solidarity and freedom. This was conveyed at
00:03:22the gathering which marked the beginning of the election campaign for the parliamentary
00:03:25elections on October 25th of this
00:03:27year. "Are those
00:03:31bells? It's bells,
00:03:35and missile attacks have caused casualties and damage to bells in honor of their
00:03:38departure,
00:03:45it has rung for them.
00:03:47We believe that we are all
00:03:53one team,
00:03:57candidates, students and citizens. To
00:04:00victory and after victory
00:04:04we follow the principles of justice,
00:04:08solidarity
00:04:09and freedom."
00:04:16From Paris, Aleksandar Vučić says that he will remain president of the republic for some time
00:04:20longer, stating that for now he will not comment on the students'
00:04:23campaign, but he did have a comment on one speaker from the rally.
00:04:27How do you view
00:04:30the fact that Jovo Bakić is a speaker at their rally who advocates
00:04:34for strengthening, violence, swimming, that you will
00:04:38swim in the Sava and Danube, that it will be their victory? I promised, I promised that I would
00:04:42swim, I will inform you when I will swim, I will not
00:04:45say a single word about that, I am
00:04:48now, until a certain date, only the president of
00:04:51Serbia, and after that I will comment on such
00:04:54happy
00:04:57work.
00:05:02It has been 25 years since the terrorist attacks of September 11,
00:05:052001, and commemorations are being held across the United States
00:05:09for almost 3,000 victims. Of the four hijacked
00:05:13planes, two hit the towers of the World Trade Center and
00:05:16one hit the Pentagon, while the fourth crashed in Pennsylvania
00:05:20after passenger resistance. The target of the fourth plane is still
00:05:23unknown today. The number of deaths from exposure to toxic dust
00:05:27has exceeded the number of those killed in the attacks themselves. So far,
00:05:31more than 57,000 cases of cancer related to this
00:05:34tragedy have been recorded.
00:05:42America will never forget the events of September 11th,
00:05:452001. President Trump will not be here, he
00:05:49denies that's because he wasn't being offered the opportunity to speak. The
00:05:53other four surviving presidents will be at ground
00:05:56zero, marking the 25th anniversary of the
00:05:59moment that I suppose redefined the world as
00:06:02we know it. Two planes flown into the World Trade Center
00:06:06here in New York, another into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
00:06:10A fourth brought down by the passengers before it reached the
00:06:13Capitol building in Washington D.C. All played out in
00:06:17real-time on network television, and it led
00:06:20to the invasion of Afghanistan, that turned into
00:06:23America's longest foreign war, 20 years. It
00:06:26ultimately led to the invasion of Iraq in 2003,
00:06:30and it was the moment, I suppose, when Americans stopped
00:06:34seeing terrorism as something abroad and began to see it
00:06:37as something at home. In this melting pot of a nation, neighbor
00:06:41became suspicious of neighbor. There was a 1600%
00:06:45rise in anti-Muslim hate crime, a rise
00:06:48that paved the way to policies of "build the wall," mass
00:06:52deportation, armed ICE agents on the streets of the
00:06:55United States, policies that put Donald
00:06:58Trump into the White House. So 9/11 is not just
00:07:02something that happened 25 years ago, it is the
00:07:05event that created America and
00:07:08the world as we know it today.
00:07:12The price of diesel in the United States has exceeded $6 per gallon for the first time in history,
00:07:16while Brent crude oil jumped to
00:07:20$100 per barrel due to conflicts in the Middle East and
00:07:24the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz. Commenting on the crisis, US
00:07:27President Donald Trump stated that he does not regret the military action and would
00:07:31do the same again. He said that America is not attacking Iran with full
00:07:35capacity due to the November 3rd elections and predicts a quick end to
00:07:39the war and a sooner stabilization of fuel prices.
00:07:43"If we hadn't done Iran, you would be cruising to mid-term victory.
00:07:47$2.25 gas, you'd be cruising. Well, you don't know that. Any, any
00:07:50regrets? No, I think, I think like I don't believe in the
00:07:54word regret. Uh, you can always question yourself
00:07:58a little bit. Uh, and few people have asked me
00:08:01that. If I had it to do again, I'd do exactly as I did.
00:08:05I took out their nuclear capability. But I think it
00:08:08ends right after the election. Uh, they're
00:08:11limping along. They're in deep trouble. Uh, they're how they get now
00:08:15off missiles. We decimated, they can always get off missiles. They had plenty and they
00:08:19have some. What do you say to all the young men out there, and I know these
00:08:22are people who supported you in 2024,
00:08:252020. And yeah, I think a lot of them still do,
00:08:28but some of them are demoralized. Let me just. I don't think they're
00:08:31demoralized. I think they're very proud of the fact that I'm not letting Iran have nuclear
00:08:35weapons. I disagree with you."
00:08:38At least nine people have died in a new wave of Russian strikes on
00:08:41Pavlograd, Kyiv, and Dnipro, while massive Ukrainian drone
00:08:47industrial facilities in the Russian regions of Tula, Volgograd, and
00:08:51Saratov. In the shadow of escalating tensions on the ground, Ukrainian President
00:08:54Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Kyiv and Washington are preparing
00:08:58trilateral peace talks with Russia, with food exports
00:09:01and the protection of energy infrastructure being considered as
00:09:05initial steps. At the same time, the Canadian Prime Minister announced new
00:09:08sanctions against Moscow and more than two billion dollars in aid to Ukraine,
00:09:12including joint drone
00:09:14production.
00:09:21Aerial warfare, indiscriminately,
00:09:25indiscriminately targeting civilian populations.
00:09:29Ukraine's air defenses are ever more critical. And that's why
00:09:32earlier today, Canada and Ukraine finalized an agreement
00:09:36to deliver critical air defense interceptors to the United
00:09:39States' jumpstart mechanism. This
00:09:43$350 million equipment package will help protect
00:09:47Ukraine's people, its infrastructure, its skies.
00:09:51President Zelensky and I have just signed a declaration for a 100-year
00:09:55partnership. In the coming months, we'll codify a
00:09:58long-term framework for cooperation across defense and
00:10:01security, trade and investment, reconstruction, energy,
00:10:05critical minerals, and
00:10:06technology.
00:10:09First of all, um, about negotiations between us, I
00:10:13think that we will not have strong negotiations
00:10:16before the, during the election period in
00:10:19Russia. All the parties in the world raise the topic
00:10:23of grain, agricultural products which Russia
00:10:26began to block in the Black Sea and we responded and we
00:10:30did the same, but we have
00:10:33to respond, otherwise Russia will, will never
00:10:36stop this war, because will never feel this
00:10:39war, and the same about
00:10:41energy.
00:10:46An exhibition "Kranjčević in Mostar" was opened last night in Mostar.
00:10:49Works by Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević and the Sesar collection, "Dialogue between words
00:10:53and images", which marks
00:10:55140 years since the arrival of the famous poet in Mostar.
00:10:59More than 200 literary titles from the Sesar
00:11:01collection were presented.
00:11:04Collecting is primary here, meaning I primarily collect
00:11:07travelogues, historical, political,
00:11:11religious literature, and let's say, literature is one of
00:11:14the segments of that collecting part
00:11:17and here Andrić and Kranjčević
00:11:21are certainly the most famous, the strongest.
00:11:24I try to collect, it's my hobby within this, this
00:11:28of mine, a hobby within a hobby, I search for
00:11:31some authors from the area of Bosnia and Herzegovina for whom
00:11:35there is no record so far who have published a literary work,
00:11:39so far I have found about twenty, so I am trying in that
00:11:43way to bring some of our cultural historical heritage
00:11:46into some contemporary focus. We are at the academy, we as students
00:11:50were given the task to
00:11:52create sculptural paintings,
00:11:55imperial graphic mm on the theme of Kranjčević's
00:11:58poems, mm, so we looked, of course, in
00:12:02books and on the web, on the internet,
00:12:06mm those poems and we would choose mm
00:12:09the poem that inspired us the most, so that is
00:12:13that task, inspiration did not only come from
00:12:16poems, but generally from our
00:12:19lives, everything that inspires us, because Kranjčević primarily writes those
00:12:23poems related to those things. Well, I think it's a great
00:12:27thing to have an exhibition like this dedicated to
00:12:30an exceptionally great writer on the occasion of
00:12:34the 140th anniversary of his arrival in Mostar. He
00:12:37is, of course, a writer who marked Croatian
00:12:41literature as a whole, he is considered one of the most important Croatian poets
00:12:44in general. To see all these editions of his in one place and
00:12:48to see these works of students who have
00:12:52strived to be inspired by the works,
00:12:55by the poems of Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević, is something
00:12:58great for Croatian literature. As vice-president of the Society of Croatian
00:13:02Writers, I am extremely satisfied with that. I am satisfied
00:13:05that we can also present tomorrow the book
00:13:09"Prigodnica" of Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević, which is
00:13:12a literary genre that is actually very significant,
00:13:16it shows how Kranjčević was not only a great poet, but he was
00:13:20a person who, on behalf of the community,
00:13:23especially while he was in Sarajevo. He was authorized
00:13:26to represent, to greet from Emperor Franz Joseph himself
00:13:30to many other great figures who came
00:13:34here, anniversaries of the Croatian people, various societies
00:13:37and so on, so I think it will be very interesting to people, because it is
00:13:41a segment that is perhaps a little pushed aside, but it is very
00:13:45significant. We will also talk about the book "Rukopis
00:13:48Svijeta" which the Society of Croatian Writers published last
00:13:51year on the occasion of its 125th anniversary
00:13:55in Zagreb.
00:13:57The 25th B&H Drama Festival Zenica will be held from
00:14:01September 14th to 20th at the Bosnian National Theater
00:14:04Zenica. There are seven plays in the competitive program.
00:14:08The festival is opened by the National Theater Mostar with the play
00:14:11"The Mayor or this is a play about Mujaga Komadina".
00:14:14In addition to plays, the festival also includes book
00:14:17promotions.
00:14:21All seven plays that the selector
00:14:25selected in April will
00:14:29appear and be performed
00:14:32within the 25th Festival of Bosnian-Herzegovinian Drama. One
00:14:35play, due to organizational reasons, the play
00:14:38of Chamber Theater 55, "My Soul Loves You",
00:14:41due to scheduling limitations and the impossibility of finding
00:14:45an adequate date and time for the festival
00:14:49to be continuous, will be performed in the Chamber Theater, that is,
00:14:52in its home venue.
00:14:58Weather forecast follows.
00:15:01Good day, dear viewers, the weather situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina
00:15:05has changed significantly over the past two days with locally heavy rain, a drop in
00:15:09temperature, thanks to this cyclone that is moving from the Mediterranean
00:15:12further eastward. In the east and south, there has still not
00:15:16been any significant refreshment or heavy rain, but during
00:15:20the afternoon and evening hours, increasingly frequent rain and showers are expected
00:15:23there as well... in the south, they may be more intense
00:15:27and accompanied by thunderstorms, however, towards the end of the day, and especially in the upcoming
00:15:31night and tomorrow, the weather conditions will gradually calm down with
00:15:34partial clearing, so Saturday will still bring
00:15:38more favorable weather conditions. Before that, today until the end of the day it will become
00:15:41gradually cooler, with the wind turning to northern directions.
00:15:45As the front passes over us, these temperatures will further
00:15:48for the weekend is more favorable, the cyclone is moving
00:15:52east, which will guarantee us mostly dry days on Saturday
00:15:56and Sunday. We can count on spending time and making plans outdoors.
00:16:00Nights will be quite cool, especially in Bosnia, where the temperature may drop
00:16:04below 10° before morning, but days will be pleasantly
00:16:07warmer, mostly with temperatures between 22 and 27, in
00:16:11the south perhaps locally up to 28-29
00:16:13degrees, so there are no more those hellish heats we
00:16:17had until recently.
00:16:20That's all for the news, stay with N1.
00:16:44Bosnia and Herzegovina
00:16:48and its beauties from another perspective.
00:17:01Heaven and
00:17:02Earth.
00:17:08A city on the Sava River, a hub of water
00:17:11and land routes connecting Bosnia and
00:17:15Herzegovina with Western Europe and the Danube and
00:17:19Black Sea countries, a bridge between the eastern and western
00:17:22parts of Republika Srpska and between the Federation and Western
00:17:26Europe. Today we fly over the city of
00:17:29Brčko.
00:17:35Brčko is also the center of the Brčko District and
00:17:39represents a special administrative unit
00:17:42in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which does not
00:17:45belong to either the Federation of Bosnia and
00:17:47Herzegovina or the Republika
00:17:50Srpska entity.
00:17:58They are governed only by local and state authorities with the help of
00:18:02the international community in the form of
00:18:05a supervisor.
00:18:12The Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina was established
00:18:15by the decision of the International Arbitration Court in 2000.
00:18:18It has its own multi-ethnic administration,
00:18:22police, and judiciary and has no other flag
00:18:25or coat of arms except the flag and coat of arms of Bosnia and
00:18:28Herzegovina.
00:18:35Brčko, as a fortified settlement,
00:18:37is first mentioned in the 16th century, although it is
00:18:40certain that the settlement existed here as early as the Middle
00:18:44Ages.
00:18:46Its origin comes from the name of a Turkish fortress, which was called
00:18:50Berosk. The main hydrographic characteristic
00:18:54of Brčko is the Sava River, along which there are also a number of
00:18:58smaller rivers, such as Tinja, Brka, and
00:19:01Lomnica. The sources of these rivers are located
00:19:04mainly in the area of Majevica mountain.
00:19:18The first settlement of the city of Brčko began to develop near Stara
00:19:22Skela, at the confluence of the Brka River into the
00:19:24Sava.
00:19:28The Atik Savska Mosque was built right at the
00:19:31confluence of these two rivers. Its name
00:19:34Atik, in Turkish, means old. This
00:19:38confirms that this is also the oldest mosque in
00:19:41Brčko.
00:19:47It was built in 1600 for the needs of the citizens
00:19:50and soldiers of the Brčko fortress. Originally, it
00:19:54was a small wooden mosque that later
00:19:57expanded and was
00:19:59renovated with the development of the settlement.
00:20:04Not far from the Atik Mosque is the building of a cultural
00:20:08association called Islahijet, which would translate
00:20:11to improvement,
00:20:14progress. Due to its specific architectural
00:20:17form and historical significance, it has been declared
00:20:20a national monument of Bosnia and
00:20:22Herzegovina.
00:20:30The old city center, from the 1830s,
00:20:34experienced rapid development. Thanks
00:20:38primarily to the export of dried raw plums, this
00:20:41city also became a strong trading
00:20:44center.
00:20:49One of the recognizable symbols of the city of Brčko is the national
00:20:53monument, the City Hall. It was built in
00:20:551892, and primarily
00:20:59served as the municipal building, then the post office, the Sava
00:21:03captaincy, and the city
00:21:05library.
00:21:11Today, the City Hall houses the library, the mayor's
00:21:14office, and a hall for government
00:21:18sessions. Since 2013,
00:21:22it has been open
00:21:22to all visitors.
00:21:26The hospitality industry developed very slowly in Bosnia and
00:21:30Herzegovina because inns, soup kitchens, cafes,
00:21:33and other establishments from
00:21:36Turkish times persisted for a long time. Hotels, lodgings, and
00:21:39guesthouses began to be built mainly during
00:21:43Austrian
00:21:43rule.
00:21:49As hospitality was closely linked to the development of
00:21:52trade, the first practitioners of this activity were
00:21:55predominantly wealthy merchants. One of the first
00:21:59such merchants was Aliaga Kučukalić who
00:22:02built the first hotel in Brčko in
00:22:041891,
00:22:07and so Hotel Posavina, along with the City Hall,
00:22:10became one of the most recognizable symbols
00:22:13of the city.
00:22:19The city center abounds in buildings created during
00:22:22Austro-Hungarian rule. At that time, it was an exceptionally modern
00:22:26city, to which merchants came from almost all over
00:22:30Europe, especially from Zagreb, Buda,
00:22:33Pest, Vienna, and Trieste. Thus, the women
00:22:37and men of Brčko had the opportunity to dress in the latest
00:22:40fashion.
00:22:49At the beginning of the 20th century, Brčko merchants
00:22:52wore white clothes and white hats,
00:22:55and Brčko women wore white embroidered blouses, long velvet
00:22:59skirts, and during muggy days, parasols
00:23:02of various colors. Today,
00:23:05the Brčko District is home to around 93,000
00:23:08inhabitants. However, due to the slow development
00:23:11of industry and economy, the population is migrating in significant
00:23:15numbers.
00:23:23Next to the exceptionally beautiful, modern city park
00:23:27is the Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in
00:23:311885. Its
00:23:35architecture leaves an impression of stability and
00:23:38due to its exceptionally specific architectural structure,
00:23:42it belongs to protected national
00:23:44objects.
