00:03:08do, um, and the the core
00:03:11intelligence behind them is getting better and better, which is where this where this
00:03:15concern is coming from, that's that's the risk that that people are talking about,
00:03:18yes, the technology is intrinsically
00:03:21unreliable, um, it occasionally invents things, it does things
00:03:25wrong, it's inconsistent, so
00:03:27when when you give it enormous capability, and it comes up with novel
00:03:31solutions, um, there's risk, and that that risk is what everybody's
00:03:34focused on, not not necessarily what's available now uh, but
00:03:38what where it might be in a few years time if it continues to be more intelligent
00:03:41and continues to be more capable, that's that's certainly what they're thinking about, but
00:03:45they're also talking about the unforceen risk, um,
00:03:49we don't know where this technology will be in a few years time, we also don't
00:03:52know what superintelligence looks like, the human
00:03:56race has been uh, human race is experience of intelligence is other
00:04:00humans, that's it, we've we've never seen systems that are massively more
00:04:03intelligent than us, um, we don't

00:05:36benefits as well, there is risk, but it will also potentially bring all sorts of
00:05:40benefits to humanity, solving problems, advancing science,
00:05:43solving medicine, um, so it's right uh to to want to
00:05:47advance AI, and any regulation that slows
00:05:50down AI, that's only limited to one part of the world,
00:05:54risks the other parts of the world advancing ahead, so it's a legitimate
00:05:58uh problem, and the only way past that is international
00:06:01collaboration, so the US and China need to
00:06:04agree uh, what what precautions need to be taken and it needs to be
00:06:07applied globally, it can't really work if only one country is doing
00:06:11it, I - well let's see, um, I, you
00:06:14know, the the AI systems of today are not a threat to humanity, the
00:06:18concern is about what will happen, particularly
00:06:21with advancings in AI, and particularly with AI advancing
00:06:25itself, so this is also one of the concerns is that AI is now
00:06:28getting good enough that it can self-improve. um, so the
00:06:32concern is if if if that happens and that starts to accelerate, we
00:06:35may see very big acceleration in artificial intelligence capability quite
00:06:39quickly, so it's it's right that we should be worrying about it. now and it's
00:06:43why right that we should be working very hard to find solutions right
00:06:46now, um, but the the solutions that are here right now, the
00:06:50AI systems that are here right now are not a huge threat. i don't, i don't think
00:06:54it's practical to slow slow things
