00:20:42somewhat succeeded in that, in a way
00:20:45that the case of Croatia and
00:20:49the case
00:20:53of Gospić are no longer mentioned in the very title of that discussion, which actually shows that their
00:20:57goal all along is not to remediate the problem that has
00:21:00arisen, but to remediate the political damage.

00:21:40from repeating? That is the point of the story. However, to return to
00:21:43the discussion in the European Parliament, so today
00:21:46we will certainly point out that
00:21:49the citizens of Gospić have the right to demand from both European
00:21:53institutions and Croatia responsibility that
00:21:56Croatia cannot and must not become a dump for European
00:21:59waste, and otherwise to see how,
00:22:03financially, and also regarding remediation, the European
00:22:06Union, uh, that is, the European Parliament, can
00:22:10help. What has certainly been shown is that Croatia
00:22:13did not have good oversight in this
00:22:16case. From all that deregulation,
00:22:20it happened that 38,000 tons
00:22:23of waste ended up illegally in Gospić, and that is a clear
00:22:26message that oversight needs to be strengthened and that the member states from
00:22:30which that waste came must also
00:22:33also participate in that. Uh, I think that
00:22:37the question is not why we have a discussion in the European Parliament today, but
00:22:40for example, why don't we have it in the European Council where the Prime Minister,
00:22:44or rather a representative of the government, sits. Uh, so

00:23:29Well, perhaps the only surprise was the question
00:23:33of Canada, the accession
00:23:35of, uh, the potential accession of Canada as an associate member
00:23:39of the European Union, although as in other topics, it seems to me that

00:24:42to be seen, but we must try. So, that, and of course
00:24:45economic cooperation, can be positive,

00:24:52is the only surprise for me. What I think was
