00:05:18Turkey. reporting for Pakistan TV, alamdar
00:05:21Kazmi. You watch the
00:05:25report and now to talk further more about this, we have been joined by
00:05:28Professor, professor of international relations, Istanbul
00:05:32Technical University to discuss the Makka joint defense aggrement
00:05:36signed by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
00:05:40Welcome to Pakistan TV's. mission, what is your
00:05:44take, how is this going to beneficial for all the three
00:05:47states, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey
00:05:51regarding this agreement I'm talking
00:05:53about? yes, thank you, here we have three
00:05:57important Muslim countries that have signed
00:06:00a a collective defense agreement so
00:06:04to speak, the importance of deterrance is specifically mentioned
00:06:08in the agreement, and further more '
00:06:12it is described by certain American media as a NATO style agreement, maybe
00:06:16that's a bit farfetched, but having said that the
00:06:20attack on one or any the countries is considered to be
00:06:24attack on all them, it resembles very much NATO's
00:06:28article five, so they could have put it a different
00:06:32way, they could have expressed this a different way, but the fact that they
00:06:35almost defined it similar to NATO's article
00:06:395, attack on one is attack on all makes quite
00:06:42significant and we already have significant cooperation between Pakistan
00:06:46and and Saudi Arabia due to the agreement signed
00:06:50last year but even going back years and now together with Saudi
00:06:54Arabia's economy, pakistan's military
00:06:57province and and Turkey's activism in militarism and
00:07:01diplomacy in in military affairs and diplomacy as well as membership in
00:07:05NATO makes makes this very very
00:07:08important - I think collective
00:07:12military. agreement, deterrance agreement, deterrance
00:07:15agreement, and I think the main issue here is
00:07:18that there's a threat perception on the part of Saudi Arabia coming from
00:07:22Iran, whereas Turkey has better relations with Iran, so we have
00:07:26very important development, I think in regional affairs,
00:07:29focusing on military, but it can have spill over effects in economy
00:07:33and diplomatic relations as well. Turkish
00:07:37president said that this
00:07:40agreement, this is not focused any
00:07:44opposition any country, this is focused on strategic
00:07:48cooperation between the three countries that are a part of this
00:07:52agreement, what's your take on this? yes, absolutely,
00:07:55mean turkey has been putting lot of emphasis on diplomacy, but
00:07:59being in the vicinity where there's a lot of war beat in the north
00:08:03in Russia and Ukraine or in the south in
00:08:05the in the Gulf region i think and historically Turkey and
00:08:09Pakistan already has very good relation. and now with
00:08:13the involvement of Saudi Arabia, I think
00:08:17three major regional powers have, I think joined forces,
00:08:21not against anyone, but trying to defend themselves and the region, trying
00:08:25to bring peace and stability to the region, but there are
00:08:28serious threats coming to the region, I think trying
00:08:32to also preserve the independence and the integrity
00:08:35the region is also important for these leaders, I believe, but
00:08:39stuffly, but on the case as I said for the Saudies. "I think the
00:08:43Iranian threat is in their minds, whereas for Turkey and
00:08:47Pakistan, they have much better relations with Iran, so it is
00:08:51i think it's a source of stability in the region,
00:08:55not being not in any way aggressive towards any other,
00:08:58but definitely trying to protect themselves and protect each
00:09:02other based on common history, based on similarities of
00:09:06culture, and diplomatic initiation and coordination
00:09:10between these three important Muslim." Yeah,
00:09:13this is a trilateral agreement where Pakistan, Saudi
00:09:17Arabia and Turkey are involved, what do you
00:09:20think, I mean like from each one's
00:09:24perspective and from each other's experiences, how can the three
00:09:28learn from each of this experiences regarding this agreement, and
00:09:32also there is this operational readiness
00:09:35of of each other that is different, the technological advancement is
00:09:39different, the economic condition is different, so how can... we
00:09:43define mechanism where we can keep learning and we
00:09:47can be beneficial all three the countries from this
00:09:50aggrement. mean, of course Pakistan has nuclear
00:09:53component very much developed in in this kind of area and
00:09:57it has a strong army, and turkey on the other
00:10:01hand being a member of NATO and involved in the
00:10:04numerous operations, be peacekeeping operations within
00:10:08NATO or in middle east, it it was involved in cer
00:10:12operations against the balligerants in Syria or in
00:10:16Iraq and Saudi Arabia more of economic
00:10:19powerhouse, I think, and of course
00:10:23Turkey has drones. which were bought numerous drones were
00:10:27bought by Saudi Arabia, so there there is already
00:10:30cooperation at hand between these three different countries, but it
00:10:34has, it all have their, they all have their different aspects of
00:10:38power, as I mentioned before, and they're ready to
00:10:41corporate, and again trying to
00:10:45they will probably have spill over effects in the economy, in
00:10:49policy coordination against the security threats of
00:10:53course, these are very much concerned with the hooties in
00:10:56yemen or or the other
00:11:00prioriteraning groups in Iraq and I don't see all
00:11:04these three countries sort of fighting a war together, but definitely a policy
00:11:08coordination, military coordination in a threats against each
00:11:11other, so they will definitely support each other, beat in
00:11:15intelligence sharing, industrial complex
00:11:19or defense industries, they will probably and
00:11:23and help each other in develop. further weaponry and
00:11:26buying from each other, so it's definitely it offers, it has lot of
00:11:30opportunities for all the three countries that we've been
00:11:34talking about. thank you so much for giving a time to pakistan
00:11:37tv.
00:11:42all geopolitical analyst Ayyub symbol spoke to Pakistan TV from
00:11:46Beijing to discuss the significance the Makka joint defense
00:11:49increment. let's share with you what he said. i think yes, that
00:11:53is a quite historic. stone into the relation between the Saudi
00:11:57Arabia, Pakistan and Turkia, and I think
00:12:01that that is something that was needed according to the changing
00:12:04dynamic, changing dynamics and the political and the
00:12:08geopolitical shift in the Middle East, so how much it could be the practical and the
00:12:11pragmatic, I think that will the time will tell, because such
00:12:15kind of mean strategical partnerships with quite
00:12:19heavyweight militarily mean that the countries like
00:12:22Pakistan and Turkey, because the Saudi Aralience. and
00:12:26more dependence of defense was on the United States,
00:12:30so but the recent episode and the the war between the
00:12:34United States and Iran has quite changed the
00:12:37dynamics in the middle east and the Saudies
00:12:40reliance on the other countries, especially on Pakistan and the Turkia, I
00:12:44think that is quite meaningful at this time, but if we can go to the
00:12:48historical context, so I think that the Turkey and the Saudi
00:12:52Arabia, their
00:12:54past if you... if we go, if we go, if we go towards the ottoman empire, so
00:12:58I think that that is quite a big change, and
00:13:02the the compliance and especially the the
00:13:05compatibility of such kind the relations are quite changing, but we can see
00:13:09also the other side that Iran quite downplay, and
00:13:12also Iran said that such kind the deals will not
00:13:16protect Saudi Arabia, so it's mean that the
00:13:20Iran existence in the middle east will increase and especially
00:13:23the Iran proxy. that could be a posing a quite
00:13:27serious threat to Saudis, I think that is also
00:13:30something that could be considerable into the near
00:13:33future.
00:13:37Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharief described the signing the
00:13:41Makkka joint defense agreement alongside Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman
00:13:44and Turkish President Rajub Tayyaran as a historic milestone in

00:14:15ummah. the prime minister also expressed his deep appreciation for field
00:14:19marshall say
00:14:20munir acknowledging his styless efforts, dedication and valuable
00:14:24contribution. towards advancing this important initiative, he
00:14:27reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with Saudi
00:14:31Arabia and Turkey for the shared objectives of peace, stability and
00:14:35mutual
00:14:36progress.
00:14:40Turkish President Rajub Tayab Erdowan has said that the Makka joint defense
00:14:44agreement between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan targets no
00:14:48country. He added that agreement remains open to participation of other
00:14:51friendly nations seeking peace, prosperity and in the
00:14:55region a post on the Turkish social platform Ergon said the
00:14:59agreement based on the principle of collective deterence with strengthen security
00:15:03and defense cooperation, joint defense industry projects and counter
00:15:07terrorism efforts. He added that Turkey would maintain its principal
00:15:11stance in favor of resolving conflicts and crisis through dialogue
00:15:15and diplomacy based on respect for international
00:15:17law.
00:15:22The joint defense agreement asures a new framework for collective
00:15:26security among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. The agreement
00:15:30strengthens collective deterents by presenting the combined strategic weight of
00:15:34all three states as a single defensive front. More in this report
00:15:38by correspondent Rana Abdullah. The
00:15:41historic Makkka joint defense agreement is here.
00:15:45Well, here is the question. What happens when three major
00:15:49Muslim states decide that the security of one is the

00:16:44its core message is clear, an armed attack against
00:16:48any one the three states will be regarded as an
00:16:52attack against all three. in practical
00:16:55terms, pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey will not be standing
00:16:59alone now, but together as iron wall. any
00:17:03potential aggressor must consider the combined strategic
00:17:07weight of all three states, the agreement will also
00:17:11deepen defense cooperation and strengthen collective deternance
00:17:15for Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, the message is one
