00:06:00president has said that the Maka joint defense agreement between
00:06:03Turkey and Saudi Arabia and Pakistan targets no country. He added that
00:06:07agreement remains open to participation of other friendly nations seeking peace,
00:06:11prosperity. and stability in the region, a post on the
00:06:15Turkish social platform, ardovan said the agreement based on the
00:06:19principle of collective deterrance with strengthen security and defense
00:06:22cooperation, joint defense industry projects and counter terrorism
00:06:26efforts. he added that turkey would maintain its principal stance in
00:06:29favor of resolving conflicts and crisis through dialogue and
00:06:33diplomacy based on respect for international
00:06:36law.
00:06:41Iranian president has said Tehran is ready for dialogue with the
00:06:45US and Europe, but will not accept demands that compromise Iran's
00:06:49sovereignty or defensive capabilities. Speaking in
00:06:52comments carried by Iran's irib broadcaster,
00:06:56Pazishkiyan defended his government's decision to pursue negotiations, saying the
00:07:00move is aimed at protecting national interests and avoiding unnecessary
00:07:04conflict. He rejected claims that his admiration, rather his
00:07:08administration had pressured Iran's leadership into talks, saying major
00:07:11decisions. were made in coordination with the country's leadership and

00:10:28developments taking place a very very important announcement a
00:10:31trilateral cooperation agreement that has been signed
00:10:35between Pakistan, the kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Turkey,
00:10:39this is of course going to be very very integral in terms the developing
00:10:43situation, but also in terms of how it marks the historic and deep
00:10:46routeties between these three countries and of
00:10:49course this is going to be very integral in terms of what it
00:10:53achieves especially. with regards to the cooperation
00:10:56between these three countries, but also in terms of how exactly that
00:11:00cooperation can possibly extend to other areas as
00:11:04well. while this is of course being emphasized that this is defense pack, it
00:11:08is something very important to note in terms of what it entils and
00:11:12what the agreement is going to cover. for now, what
00:11:16we know of course is that this is going to be mutual
00:11:19understanding between these countries in terms of what it is that they
00:11:23will decide to ac. upon and what it is that they will perceive as a thread, but
00:11:27this is something emphasized time in again that this is for defense
00:11:31cooperation not targeted towards any particular country or any particular
00:11:35situation, and of course does not mean that any sort of
00:11:38military escort is going to be arranged, this going to be important also
00:11:42in terms of how the three countries are going to further explore their trade and investment
00:11:46ties as well and how exactly these relationships are going to
00:11:50develop even further and especially given the kind of situation the middle
00:11:54east is in right now, that will be the focus in our first
00:11:58segment the show today. our next one is going to look at what is happening as part
00:12:02the US Iran equation, where we see that Mr.
00:12:05Trump has recently spoken to reporters and said that he's very
00:12:09optimistic about the situation, saying that there are hopes that he
00:12:13thinks exist in terms of how successful negotiations can
00:12:17proceed further and how talks can resume. it's important to see exactly
00:12:21when that will happen with mediation efforts underway and also the very...
00:12:25important agreement between Iran and Oman also inching closer and
00:12:29specially in terms the kind of control is going to give the straight to Iran, something
00:12:32it's been talking about since the start the conflict and what that does to
00:12:36the US's key positions as part of what it hopes to achieve out of this
00:12:40war, the decreasing popularity that Mr. Trump faces
00:12:44and then of course the way that the Israeli occasion is also
00:12:48impacting the situation, that will be the focus in our show today and we're going to
00:12:51start off with very important and very historic...
00:12:55Agreement that has been signed between Pakistan, Saudi
00:12:59Arabia and Turkey. The Makka joint defense
00:13:02agreement is going to be an important aspect, not just in terms the
00:13:06three countries and their interactions with each other, but also the backdrop the
00:13:10developing situation in the middle east. For this we've been joined by Imran ali is
00:13:14a former ambassador and air commodor Khalid Chishti whose defense analyst.
00:13:18Thank you very much gentlemen for being part the show today.
00:13:22Let me begin with you in terms of how you're looking at these developments
00:13:25particularly in light of what we earlier saw um exist
00:13:29between pakistan and Saudi Arabia as part the defense
00:13:33cooperation where we understand uh that similar sentiments of course
00:13:37were underscored between the two that any act of aggression against one will be taken
00:13:41as an act of aggression against another and then now of course there
00:13:45is defense agreement that extends to another country another
00:13:48brotherly country and these uh this trilateral cooperation
00:13:52also talks about the same aspect how how important and
00:13:55historic do you think this agreement is and exactly what it entils in
00:13:59terms of deepening the cooperation and ties that exist between these three
00:14:03countries? thank you very much miss
00:14:07sana for the invitation. absolutely, there is no
00:14:11doubt about it, this is a great time that we three the most
00:14:14important countries in the muslim ummah have converged together
00:14:18along with their obviously challenges and the
00:14:21expectations and most important their strengths. because we
00:14:25see Turkey as being one the most important country in the NATO
00:14:29which has been, which has
00:14:32had lot of exposure to the western technology, modern
00:14:35weaponizations from the west, transfer of technology, indigenious
00:14:39industrial base that they have, and
00:14:43top of that Pakistan joins hand, obviously if you ask me the two most
00:14:46advanced military capable countries which the
00:14:50Muslim countries have, cannot easily
00:14:52be said that this is Turkey and Pakistan. now add that factor of saudia
00:14:56which has obviously has lot of resources of oil with
00:15:00compensate and plug in the financial challenges and I think if
00:15:04you look at the history, let's go back to Turkey
00:15:07again, this is a country for last 25 years is
00:15:10expanded military hardware and infrastructure
00:15:14tremendously. In year 2000 it had just one
00:15:18billion dollar of defense industry and its export was only 200
00:15:22million dollars and now in 25 years it has. up by 20
00:15:25times and now it is 20 billion dollars of industry
00:15:29and Turkey is exporting almost 8.5 billion dollars of
00:15:33hardware so that tells you lot this and the collaboration.
00:15:37and this is presently almost the world's 10th
00:15:40most highest selling armament equipment
00:15:44country in the world this time. add that to pakistani
00:15:48collaboration. in the past in the years, if you look at the
00:15:51history, i have had the privilege and honor to do my armed forces war course in Istanbul
00:15:55and that to in turkish language just about 22 years back, and even
00:15:59then people turkish people used to call us brother and not friends,
00:16:03obviously and they put us high above all other committee of...
00:16:07nations so that's the privilege, the understanding, the comfort level that we had
00:16:11traditionally, and now add Pakistani strength. Pakistani strength
00:16:15has been obviously on the military part, we have the armed forces which
00:16:19are battle hardened and combat proven, we've had the industry
00:16:23which produces jf 17 thunder, at the air force level we
00:16:26had unmandarial vehicle, lighting munition and these drones being
00:16:30manufactured in Pakistan, through the battle testing and hardened
00:16:34armed forces
00:16:35this brings in lot of prestige. "the world has recognized and
00:16:39as I said in the beginning that Saudi Arab can contribute a meaningful way
00:16:43to fund these challenges, what we can come across, it's it's a
00:16:46natural convergence, I would say. This is not that alliance in which you
00:16:50say we have our own self-seeking interest, we have our own
00:16:53motives, top of that we've had these national
00:16:57interest, the threats, perception and the expectation, hopes
00:17:00converging on one point, only then the three countries could come close,
00:17:04there is no buyer or seller here, there is..." no opportunity or
00:17:08occasional friendship or coming close, it's a
00:17:11tested seasoned kind of relation that to be had and I think hope
00:17:15to have many more good news coming and I hope some other countries
00:17:19joining too in this agreement right
00:17:22absolutely let me come to you with your perspective also in terms of
00:17:26how you looking at this development particularly in terms the backdrop
00:17:30the regional situation in the middle east and the very important ties that
00:17:34exist between between Pakistan Turkey and the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. arabia,
00:17:38how do you think that this partnership is very integral in terms
00:17:42the existing geopolitical structure the middle
00:17:46east? yes, thank you,
00:17:48sanna, and like
00:17:52commodor sah said, it's a very important, it's a very
00:17:56important agreement coming taking
00:18:00place at Makkah and it has Islamic connotations
00:18:03also, but it's primarily primarily deterrant.
00:18:07so it's a deterrant for
00:18:11primarily Israel, because
00:18:14Israel has been talking about a sunni alliance
00:18:18taking place, one the one the leaders the opposition
00:18:22who's probably going to come into par
00:18:26after after Nathaniau has been
00:18:30touting this continuously, and also
00:18:33it's probably also meant...
00:18:38to stop aggression between Iran and Saudi
00:18:41Arabia in terms the middle eastern
00:18:44conflict, kinetic attacks
00:18:48which have been part of it, it's been it's been it's been very
00:18:52aably timed with,
00:18:56I have just heard that the oman and Iran
00:19:00agreement on the states of hormos has
00:19:03also been finalized and it's done and dusted.
00:19:07"it had to be signed by by the supreme leader or
00:19:11approved by the supreme leader, I think it has been, it
00:19:15has been done, so now we might look at
00:19:19an era of peace in the US Iran
00:19:23conflict at least in the short term, two or three
00:19:26months time, and Pakistan is probably the
00:19:29only country that can that can placate Iran
00:19:33and tell Iran that this agreement is not against.
00:19:37Iran because there are voices coming out of
00:19:41Iran, not the official Iranian
00:19:44voices, but some the think tank
00:19:48leaders, some their parliamentarians
00:19:51who think that this is just paper
00:19:54agreement to to benefit Saudi
00:19:58Arabia, well it's not that
00:20:00and I think the Iranian leadership understands the
00:20:04importance of it and that it's not again. Iran,
00:20:08I think we have been able to convey this to Iran and
00:20:11advance. Right, and that of course is very, very
00:20:15important. The aspect of
00:20:18deterrance is something that needs to be highlighted even further. It
00:20:22has been clarified in the joint statement as well, this is not targeted towards any
00:20:25particular country,
00:20:26it is meant only for defense cooperation, but how important you think it
00:20:30is emphasize that, especially in terms the kind of
00:20:34international concerns that were earlier. also raised as
00:20:38part the developing situation between US and Iran and the
00:20:42ways in which such defense agreements are going to come into place, that of course have been
00:20:46laid to rest to lot of degrees, but in what ways do you think it's important for the?
00:20:50national community to understand that this true is something which is only for
00:20:53defense purposes and not targeted towards anything in
00:20:56particular. you rightly pointed out sana that this
00:21:00is defense agreement. it doesn't have any offensive element. there is no
00:21:04hegemonic designs in this built in this, it is for self defense number
00:21:08one. and ambassador Imran very rightly said that the world
00:21:12has to and should understand that this is not against any one
00:21:15country and it has to be done as through only the deterrants and
00:21:19deterents. does not come when the bad time come, veterance has to be
00:21:23created, built and tested during the peace
00:21:26time. Pakistan, obviously Turkey, they have their own military
00:21:30capability, obviously Saudia has lot of financial
00:21:33resources, so these three should I would expect them to
00:21:37develop in the peace time, those capabilities should be
00:21:40manifested and those should be tested and tried so the enemies these
00:21:44three countries and by particularly and by and large of Muslim and
00:21:48for any expansion is... designed for any country, they should
00:21:52be verificable and tested deterents
00:21:56obviously, some people take it as a misunderstanding, i was on
00:21:59different channels throughout the day today and people expected that could be a JF
00:22:0317 flying from Pakistan intercepting fighter jet coming from anybody
00:22:07any other country and and shooting it down, that's not the case,
00:22:11it has to be built during the peace, tri services
00:22:14exercises have to be done, I can for sure share with you that
00:22:18Pakistan airports periodically. numerous airpower
00:22:21exercises the turkish air force and saudi air force and you saw that a
00:22:25j1 thunder went non stop obviously covering almost over
00:22:29300 kilometers with the to refuling
00:22:32we be deployed for an exercise in saudia and to that
00:22:35that kind of exercises should be manifested all our crew could be an
00:22:39airman, sailor, soldier should be confident enough that god forbid if there
00:22:43is a bad time comes or a challenging situation come we should
00:22:47be able to thought of before it actually materialized. so the world should look at
00:22:51it that it is for a mutual acceptability of owners of
00:22:55responsibility, liabilities, challenges and let tell
00:22:59you as last word, the more vacuum you leave the
00:23:03mistrust between the countries, imbuguity, obviously that
00:23:07invites aggression, when you send out very solid message with
00:23:10conviction and resolved back by the military force, obviously many
00:23:14countries or many enemies these three countries particularly with think times
00:23:18and this should also encourage other countries also to
00:23:22join, because it's not a matter of who's smaller, weaker or
00:23:25stronger, it's more of building up consensus in as many
00:23:29countries as possible that at diplomatic, political and obviously
00:23:33economic level. right, absolutely, I'm glad you pointed that
00:23:37out, ambassador, I'd like your perspective on the last bit that
00:23:41Mr. Chishti was talking about with reference to other countries joining this to,
00:23:45this again was a conversation that we saw happen previously also when
00:23:49Pakistan signed. bilateral defense cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia as well,
00:23:53whether or not more countries will follow, and we now of course understand that
00:23:56Turkey has entered into a trilateral cooperation agreement, can
00:24:00other countries, especially in the middle eastern and Gulf region be
00:24:04expected to join, and we can see such
00:24:08cooperations being extended to them as
00:24:10well, yes, I think other
00:24:13countries have shown their interest to join,
00:24:16but I can understand Pakistan.
00:24:20reluctance as key mediator that it doesn't
00:24:24want other countries to join and it to it to be seen as
00:24:27an anti-iranian alliance turkey is different and
00:24:31Saudi Arabia is different Saudi Arabia
00:24:33Pakistan was instrumental in prior to
00:24:36these two Israeli
00:24:38instigated wars Pakistan
00:24:42was instrumental with China and Oman in bringing Saudi
00:24:46Arabia and Iran closer during this war.
00:24:50also played role in in in not
00:24:53having hostilities between those these two
00:24:57countries, turkey is different, turkey doesn't
00:24:59form part of those countries that have
00:25:02been that have been part of this war
00:25:06because the Iranian doctrine
00:25:09of of hitting American bases, so although
00:25:13it's a nato member, I don't think Turkish soil was used
00:25:17to used to attack attack Iran. so
00:25:21it's it's very important at this juncture, at this point
00:25:25of time, because Pakistan is involved
00:25:28in such such a high stakes
00:25:32mediation as the one between Iran and the US,
00:25:36so I think gradually as the war eases out and if
00:25:40this news of oman and Iran coming to an
00:25:44agreement on the states of hormos is concerned, it's a very good
00:25:48first step for the... you to be reserected
00:25:51in some form and for the countries to
00:25:55talk about it, so I think once there is
00:25:58peace or once there are this talk of peace,
00:26:02gradually other countries would be included,
00:26:05remember three
00:26:08is a the number three is still
00:26:10manageable, if you make it nine
00:26:14or 10 or say seven or eight, then
00:26:17sometimes it it's not manageable for for
00:26:21agreements to to work, they need to be
00:26:25manageable and these three countries don't
00:26:29have any iritants amongst themselves.
00:26:33so Turkey is an all-time friend, so is Saudi
00:26:37Arabia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey see I
00:26:40toi with each other, their
00:26:42complementarities have been pointed out by
00:26:46Sir Khalid very well, and and just
00:26:50to add to add to what he has said, Pakistan and Turkey
00:26:54especially have very, very robust air
00:26:57force
00:26:58air force relationship and Pakistan. as you
00:27:02know as is in defense partnership with Saudi
00:27:06Arabia, so I think there are lots of
00:27:09complementarities, whether we like it or not, whatever we
00:27:13say in from Israel,
00:27:17there will be sounds of caution
00:27:20and some
00:27:23trepidation, and so would there be trepidation
00:27:26from our eastern neighbor, but like like
00:27:30pointed out, it's not... aggressive against anybody, of course,
00:27:34if somebody steps on our tail then all bats are
00:27:38off. right, i understand that.
00:27:42um, last question to you, when we're looking at of course what
00:27:44Pakistan
00:27:46has played as a very central role in terms of
00:27:49mediating between Iran and the United States, we have seen that,
00:27:53especially also posted Mark, there has
00:27:56been very different ways in which the international
00:27:59community sees and interacts with Pakistan and... the role of
00:28:03mediator also enhanced this geopolitical position and
00:28:07because of result of Pakistan's proactive foreign policy we have seen these
00:28:10engagements taking place now with such agreements also
00:28:14being developed with the very important allies for Pakistan, how
00:28:18do you think that also continues to shape our geopolitical position
00:28:22and our foreign policy stunds and especially our outlook in the ways
00:28:26that different countries want to engage with
00:28:28Pakistan? Then If I if I take you
00:28:32back 14 months,
00:28:34may 2025, India has had miscalculated that we
00:28:38are less relevant to the world, when the attacks us, they thought that they are too
00:28:42relevant and Pakistan should be made irrelevant, that did not succeed and
00:28:46we earned our relevance, not to their liking obviously and
00:28:49became regional stabilizing player last
00:28:52May and fast forward to June
00:28:552026, we proved to the world that we are not only not
00:28:59sponsoring terrorism but we are a peace loving country which not only
00:29:03upholds its own sovereinity, but obviously we can significantly
00:29:07contribute to bringing a super power and obviously Iran to a
00:29:10common ground and make them work at least on the peace
00:29:14talks. number one, and then I keep saying most the time that

00:29:25what you cannot buy through money is your influence, your
00:29:29impression and your narrative, that has been that has to be
00:29:32earned and we earned in last 14 months and the world considers
00:29:36us responsible country obviously which is keenly obviously
00:29:40interested in the global peace number one and that is why you see you
00:29:44do not do just by marketing yourself you do not create the influence you
00:29:48have you have to manifest you have to prove it and the last one year we have proven it
00:29:52to the world here is the country in spite of having challenges

00:30:27players so i think we found new relevance we hope and continue to
