00:13:30have opened a second front by capturing territory, ports and

00:13:45bypassing hormos could remain largely out of service for several weeks following

00:15:23Sues Canal connect. Asia and
00:15:26Europe, now two major middle eastern
00:15:30shipping choke points are facing simultaneous disruption, we all know the state of
00:15:34hormos has been under severe pressure for months.
00:15:37new conflict front has now emerged around Babel Mander. Together, the
00:15:41two crises threaten major global shipping routes. The two
00:15:45waterways connect vital energy producing regions with global
00:15:49markets. Simultaneous disruption is also creating
00:15:52crisis that the shipping industry really faces and we are seeing
00:15:56the consequences. Why is hormos critical? Let's talk about the state of
00:16:00hormos. First,
00:16:01the state of hormos has been at the center of an open conflict for
00:16:05more than six months. The US is... Iran war that began in February
00:16:09of 2026 is still on the conflict has increasingly moved from the air to
00:16:13the sea. During this war, US and Iranian forces have
00:16:17exchanged multiple attacks involving commercial vessels.
00:16:20Tankers linked to either side have increasingly
00:16:24become targets. This has marked escalation
00:16:28beyond drone and mine attacks. Why is Babel mandab critical
00:16:32then? Babel mandab is second front that has now opened. The Babel Mandab
00:16:35straight had been relatively. quieter until recently,
00:16:39but the Houti attacks on commercial shipping have largely affected
00:16:43the oil flow and economy the world. fighting between the hoothis and the saudi
00:16:47backed yemini government have intensified. the hoothi attacks have
00:16:51now extended to saudi energy and civilian
00:16:54infrastructure as well. now facilities near Jazan have
00:16:58reportedly been targeted. more than 150 people
00:17:02have reportedly been wounded in these very attacks. the hutis have
00:17:06declared what they call a a time blocked against the kingdom of Saudi
00:17:09Arabia. shipping companies have been warned against
00:17:13calling at Saudi ports. let's go to the next
00:17:17slide. the question of whether
00:17:20any party can actually block the state of hormos and babal mandap
00:17:24simultaneously has become one the most consequential questions for the
00:17:28global economy. the answer is complicated. Iran does not have direct sovereign
00:17:32control over both waterways, but it has tried capturing both
00:17:35extremely dangerous expensive. and economically disruptive areas. This
00:17:39disruption has tightened supplies and increased shipping costs pushing
00:17:43brend crude above $108 bile with prices reaching around 107 to
00:17:47109 in mid September of 2026. Coming to the next
00:17:50slide, shipping through the state of Hormus before and
00:17:54after the war. The ship traffic has now collapsed before the war, more than 130
00:17:58commodity vessels a day or transiting Hormus on
00:18:0216th of August, capital data showed just five commodity vessels
00:18:06crossing on. 14th of September preliminary tracking showed that
00:18:10commodity vessel transits had fallen to single digits per day versus
00:18:14recent 10 day average of 14 per day. the source of course is
00:18:18reuters. coming to the next slide shipping through the balble
00:18:21mandab also before versus afterwards we wanted to show you that as well.
00:18:25conflict before before the conflict 71 messels per day were
00:18:29going through while average traffic from january 2022 to october 2023
00:18:33and normal commercial traffic before the red sea crisis after the hoothi
00:18:37attack. began 43 vessels per day were
00:18:40happening November 2023 and February 2024,
00:18:4439% decline from pre crisis levels, major shipping
00:18:47lines began rerouting acround the cape of good
00:18:51hope in 2025. 33.5 vessels per
00:18:55day was the number of ships that were moving, more than 50% were
00:18:59below pre crisis traffic. Current latest September

00:19:03to 26 data shows around 26 to 27 vessels per day around
00:19:06six. 3% below the pre-conflict level, the source of course
00:19:10include the anadolu agency and of course world
00:19:13monitor checkpoint status as well. coming
00:19:17to the next slide, pakistan has strongly condemned the
00:19:20Islamabad the attacks of course
00:19:24on the abha, khamis,
00:19:28mushed, jazan and najran areas which saudi authorities said
00:19:32wounded at least 73 people including women and children. Saudi energy
00:19:36authorities have also reported fires and a temporary suspension of some
00:19:40operations at energy facilities following the strikes. the foreign office
00:19:43says that the attacks were flagrant violations of kingdom of Saudi
00:19:47Arabia sovereinity and territorial integrity and supported Riya's
00:19:51legitimate right under international law to take necessary measures to
00:19:55defense its territory, population and national assets. Prime
00:19:58Minister Shahbas Sharif has separately condemned what he
00:20:02describes as a cowardly attack targeting civilian and energy
00:20:06facilities, Pakistan's unwaving solidarity with
00:20:10Saudi Arabia and its
00:20:28Adam, with the Houties taking over Macha and
00:20:31Strategic Islands while advancing towards Thais and
00:20:35Marib as well has Yaman's balance of power
00:20:39decisively shifted in your point, I like to add another question to
00:20:43that, the hoothies are getting territory were also threatening
00:20:47not only Babal Mander but also the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. are they
00:20:50pursuing yemen's war or are they building leverage for
00:20:54Iran? Trump has rejected direct strikes on the hoothis but has
00:20:58offered the kingdom of Saudi Arabia intelligence support in this very
00:21:02issue. has Washington drawn a line under military
00:21:05commitment. I wanted to group these questions. your
00:21:08take. Yeah, thank you for having me. So it's worth
00:21:11noting that the Yemeni government is already weak. They've been unable to
00:21:15retake hoothi areas for years now despite heavy Saudi air
00:21:19support. in the past, they're dependent on the kingdom militarily and
00:21:23politically. we may be seeing a shift even more toward the
00:21:26hooties, more the balance of power shifting toward them in Yemen with the seiasure the
00:21:30Babel mendeb area, but there are some signs on the ground today that the
00:21:33government has repelled the most recent Huthi assault, so that remains to be
00:21:37seen. basically, we already know the limits of Yemeni government power, but the
00:21:41questions are now what the Yemen backed by the Saudi Led coalition can do.
00:21:45The Hothies could of course face challenges their own, especially as they look to re to
00:21:49take areas where they... have considerable popular support, and
00:21:53in terms of whether this is Yemen's war or Iran war, there are
00:21:57domestic and international factors at play here. Iran has said recently
00:22:00that the Houthis are acting independently, and the Huthies are framing their struggle as a
00:22:04nationalist one, which is not new for them, but surely the Hoothi advance in the
00:22:08Red Sea area helps Iran pressure the Gulf and the US by impacting
00:22:12energy markets. As you noted, Saudi Arabia has been rerouting oil
00:22:15exports because the disruptions in Hormus, rerouting them through the Red Sea.
00:22:20already seeing brent crude oil prices uh rise today, and the Yemen
00:22:24war has escalated during the Iran war, including after reports that the
00:22:27Islamic Revolutionary guard corre, IRGC was sending more help to the hoothies in
00:22:31July, so there are also domestic reasons for this war, it's been
00:22:34unresolved, peace talks with the Houtis and the Saudi Arabia have failed,
00:22:38and the Huthi recruitment is aided by escalation, and the anti-hoothi
00:22:42coalition in Yemen was also weakened earlier this year between this dispute
00:22:46between the Yemini Central government and the southern transition. council
00:22:50which wants independence for South Yemen and finally in terms of whether the
00:22:54Trump administration has drawn a line here, as of now yes they are signaling they
00:22:58want to pursue economic pressure against Iran and with other
00:23:02Iranian proxies like at Lebanon they're pursuing the diplomatic track, but the
00:23:05situation can change, especially with President Trump, he has attacked Iran
00:23:09in the past during negotiations, signaling they want to do diplomacy and then
00:23:13moving quickly to a military uh position, so this
00:23:17is basically developing, but as of now there's it seems to be... no US strikes on
00:23:21Yemen, but
00:23:22it could change, and
00:23:22the US has hit
00:23:23the hoothies across multiple administrations in the
00:23:32to you, another cyrus itim, the state of hormones is
00:23:35restricted, the baldhab is being threatened. is this
00:23:39two front war or restriction
00:23:42affecting the global gas and oil supplies in the short and long
00:23:46term, and if so to which extent? your take?
00:23:50"thank you ar um, mean naturally they are impacting
00:23:53markets uh, i think primarily the biggest markets being
00:23:57impacted is obviously oil, mean if you're looking at, i'm trying to quantify it, if
00:24:01you quantify it, i think we can talk about 20 previously 20 million barrels per
00:24:05day of oil going through the straight of moves uh today i think we're talking
00:24:09average we've been seeing numbers between five and seven million barrels per day
00:24:13that's a good
00:24:14day um east-west pipeline before what recently
00:24:18happened was take could take up to four million barrels per day sustainably,
00:24:22but more recently it's been taking lot less, probably possibly about two, less than two
00:24:26million barrels per day. you have the fijaro pipeline as well in the UAE, that's been
00:24:29taking about two million barrels per day. on the Babel Mandab
00:24:33side, not as significant and we're talking about seven
00:24:36eight million barrels per day, typically, look, there
00:24:39in through that straight there is still oil flowing, predominantly Russian
00:24:43oil, but still it is flowing, and the Hithis have made clear that at
00:24:47least in theory their their war is... with Saudi Arabia and no one
00:24:51else, now to what extent we are seeing obviously some vessels that are choosing not to
00:24:55use that route because the risk, but still so I think
00:24:58overall in terms the assessment I'd say, look, oil is still
00:25:01flowing, gas is still, gas not so much, but oil is still flowing
00:25:05through these two straights, but markedly less and the real
00:25:09big issue here, the worry really is that the buffers that we
00:25:13had kind of in February 28 and before, which are
00:25:17essentially were
00:25:18you know plentiful inventories globally. and the fact
00:25:21that over this period initial period the Chinese were not
00:25:25really taking oil as much, they stopped importing significant amount of
00:25:28oil, those are starting to turn a little bit, obviously the inventory
00:25:32situation is much worse than it was, inventories are significantly
00:25:36lower, and the Chinese have been flirting with the idea of actually increasing imports
00:25:40once again, so that that's going to definitely put strain on
00:25:43the on balances on the global or market, so it's
00:25:47serious now, and I think if it continues much long it could
00:25:51get very
00:26:03to understand as far as very important meeting that was going to be
00:26:07held between the Gulf countries
00:26:09and in iran in Oman, but that was
00:26:13postponed
00:26:13at the very last minute. There are different explanations that are coming from certain
00:26:17quarters as far as why it was postponed, what's your
00:26:19take? So the context of this
00:26:23is important. Iran has signaled many times
00:26:27that they've agreed to like terms with Oman on like new straight of
00:26:30Hormus deal, but..." "Oman has been more quieter on this and there
00:26:34hasn't really been any development toward new mechanism, at least on the ground
00:26:38or at least publicly between Iran and Oman, and it's worth noting that Iran
00:26:42as a mediating country consults with the US and they've been
00:26:46quieter, and the conflict is still active, like I said, the US wants to
00:26:50see how this economic pressure will play out, so it's possible that the conditions are not there
00:26:54for these talks to happen as of yet, it is speculation,
00:26:57you know why exactly it didn't happen, but we've basically seeing increased US pressure,
00:27:01that's something Oman is..." taking note of, and Oman is aware that, the
00:27:05US may pressure them any agreement they make with Iran, so that
00:27:09that's basically the context for how this meeting uh didn't take place, but the exact
00:27:12reasons for it not happening are not clear. It's worth noting that in
00:27:16recent days there have been a lot of diplomatic calls
00:27:18between um gulf diplomats, especially foreign ministers
00:27:22from UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman as well, Qatar, so we might be
00:27:26seeing, diplomacy pickback up despite this meeting not taking
00:27:29place, so it might be happening a... in the next few days,
00:27:33maybe if the issues are resolved one way or the other, what's your
00:27:36take? it's possible,
00:27:39but I don't see you, deal being imminent right now, there aren't
00:27:43any signs
00:27:44of that, the Trump administration is expected to announce new sanctions on Iran
00:27:48today, they're continuing that economic pressure, so and Iran has not
00:27:52signaled that
00:27:52it is going to budge, of course there are signs the Iranian economy is struggling even more so than it was and
00:27:56that's what led to protests in the past, but as of now we're you know it's kind of like
00:28:00a game of chicken, we're seeing who will... blink first, so this this
00:28:04meeting might happen, but it doesn't like a deal is
00:28:18hormos traffic has fallen to single digits, as far
00:28:22as the recent capital data is concerned,
00:28:26despite the US naval escorts that are happening. do
00:28:30you feel Washington is generally trying to move? oil through the street first
00:28:34question, second question, Iran has certain penalties against
00:28:38more more or less 77 vessels as traffic through hormos has fallen, we've just
00:28:42discussed that, how now controls the traffic through
00:28:45the state of hormos, if we would be discussing that very
00:28:49straight, sure, so I mean let's look at
00:28:53the the control question first, I mean honestly I would say no one really
00:28:57controls this straight, I think this is lot of this is like this talk of whether
