00:01:06where of Iran and Oman are working toward new operational
00:01:10framework for one
00:01:11of the world's most critical maritime choke points. Iranian
00:01:15officials argue that any future arrangement should reflect the sovereign
00:01:19rights and security responsibilities
00:01:25of of the two coastal states. report suggests discussions include new service fees for navigation. supporters
00:01:28of the proposed framework, argue that charges for navigation,
00:01:32safety, vessel, traffic management, security escorts and
00:01:35environmental protection could be
00:01:37of structured in manner consistent with the existing
00:01:41international practice. critics, however, content that any new
00:01:45financial or regulatory regime could affect freedom of
00:01:49navigation and global energy markets. so are we witnessing the
00:01:52emergence of new maritime order in the straight of removes? what would it
00:01:56mean for regional
00:01:58of
00:01:58in security, the global economy? and the balance of power in west Asia, that's what
00:02:02we'll be discussing tonight with our
00:02:06of guests,
00:02:08a
00:02:12of joining us from
00:02:16of London and Christopher
00:02:19Horstell author and politician joining us from
00:02:22Berlin.
00:02:27Gentlemen, thank you both for being with us, um... I'm going to start
00:02:31with
00:02:31of Mr. Horstell, our guest in
00:02:33of Berlin. Thank you so much for being with us. um, let's begin with your
00:02:37broad take away on the situation
00:02:39of the straight to for moves, the choices that the US has in order to
00:02:42counter any agreement that Iran and
00:02:45of Oman um may be reaching very soon, and why and how
00:02:49would such an agreement be strategically important at this time
00:02:53and place? we see that the
00:02:56UN now militarily quite crippled.
00:03:00"they are unable in fact uh to strongly attack
00:03:04Iran, it doesn't help them, Iran is much
00:03:08of stronger in its responses
00:03:11of and that
00:03:11in sets all these little or bigger countries
00:03:15in the region somehow free, they have nothing
00:03:19to fear from the US anymore,
00:03:22of that tiger has become a paper tiger, but it is
00:03:25murderous pepper tiger which can kill people,
00:03:29so this is..." the the situation we have and the talks between
00:03:33Oman and Iran are traditionally very
00:03:36good, there's a
00:03:38in good relationship, these countries are open and honest
00:03:41towards each other, and this is what we see as
00:03:44a result, and the serious and reliable
00:03:48policy of Iran towards all the
00:03:51of neighbors is now
00:03:52of paying out, that is very very clear, so I think that it's
00:03:56a good chance that this works, unless and...
00:04:00fact
00:04:00is Trump
00:04:02a issues military strong threats against the
00:04:06oman government to stop them from
00:04:09concluding these deals, but that will set up lot of
00:04:13trouble, and I heard just this afternoon from a
00:04:17direct quotation
00:04:18a from the Pakistani
00:04:19of field marshall, the strong man of Pakistan, so to
00:04:23say that he told Donald Trump personally,
00:04:27quote, the time of... relation is over
00:04:31unquote, so that is the situation, and the
00:04:34Saudis through Mohammad have
00:04:38of made it amply clear to the U.S. that should
00:04:41in they start any aggression against Iran, they
00:04:45have no allowance, okay from the Saudi
00:04:48side to use their airspace, and that's vital, there's
00:04:52a huge detour they would have to fly, so in fact we
00:04:56have a situation here where something slow.
00:05:00Slowly, slowly, something comes closer towards a
00:05:03solution, and a good deal right now with
00:05:07oman and Iran will give face saving
00:05:11device to. is president Trump who is beleged
00:05:14because he's losing the big majority the American
00:05:18support for his crazy policies, so that is a good
00:05:22chance that this in fact can appease a little
00:05:25bit the American idea,
00:05:27you know, that's not only Iran should be there, so that's
00:05:31it, but there will be, that is very clear from all inside
00:05:35talks, no and zero compromise from the Iranian
00:05:39side beyond the MOU. "the
00:05:42Americans now have to fulfill the mou and
00:05:46after that Iran talks, before that there will be zero
00:05:50talks, no matter what Trump is lying about his fantastic
00:05:54contact to his polla and to Iran and whatsoever. We
00:05:58have very serious project, and that is the
00:06:01situation that Iran is not attacking Israel
00:06:05for its violations the Mou against Lebanon,
00:06:09which is increasingly looking like..." and my
00:06:13gaza brothers are calling me by the day, they are
00:06:17starving, and please, so to say
00:06:20my Iranian friends, Israel for that,
00:06:24because you are the only power in the world, the only country
00:06:28with guts with the good population was behind its
00:06:31government and punish this country for its multiple
00:06:35crimes, my brother abu safiya is dying an
00:06:46Let me also bring in today's conversation Masud Shajara,
00:06:49chairman the Islamic Human Rights Commission joining us from the British
00:06:53Capital, London. Thank you so much Mr. Shajara for being with
00:06:55us. Um, so many things uh to talk about.
00:06:59Let's talk about the situation on February 27,
00:07:032026. The straight to for moves was open to
00:07:06commercial shipping, um, even different ships from different
00:07:10countries entered the straight. and into the Persian
00:07:13Gulf, also
00:07:15at the same time Donald Trump had so-called allies in the
00:07:18Persian Gulf countries, right now, after more
00:07:22than five months, the situation has changed dramatically,
00:07:25the straight of her moves
00:07:27is in full control the Iranian armed forces and those allies,
00:07:31according to Mr. Horstell's analysis, are
00:07:35turning back from what they have been doing throughout the
00:07:38years, absolutely, I think we need to..."
00:07:42sort of separate illusions that
00:07:46Trump is trying to hold on and create
00:07:50and the reality, the reality is that United
00:07:53States has lost this war, the reality is that
00:07:57Trump is stock, he doesn't know what to
00:08:00do, he knows that he needs to give
00:08:03concession, he knows that the game has totally
00:08:07changed, not just regarding the sort
00:08:11of ' the governments in
00:08:14the Persian Gulf, but
00:08:17you know the whole spectral
00:08:21the situation has changed, Iran is a very
00:08:25powerful position because United State
00:08:28with all his mind and support of Israel
00:08:32and indeed even some the local
00:08:35governments and and indeed Europeans
00:08:38providing logistical support.
00:08:43is failed, it actually lost the war, and there is no
00:08:46way that that could change,
00:08:49and and what Trump is trying to do by
00:08:53creating illusions and by sort of one
00:08:57minute saying that there is deal, and the next minute is saying that
00:09:00is going to wipe Iran the
00:09:04map the world and and destroyer totally,
00:09:08is trying to manage this defeat,
00:09:11this... total defeat and is not
00:09:14manageable, it's getting worse and now
00:09:18regional governments all realizing
00:09:22that they can no longer continue
00:09:25supporting united states and and indeed
00:09:29they want resolution, they want end to
00:09:33this conflict, they want to go back to some level
00:09:37of normality, and they realized that that
00:09:40normality could on be
00:09:44realistic and could be only achieved by giving
00:09:47Iran what is rightful
00:09:51sort of position is in the region and
00:09:55in in regarding the hormones, so this
00:09:59is a reality that the longer Trump tries
00:10:03to ignore and try to sort of undermine
00:10:07it by creating illusions, the worse it will
00:10:10become, and the best thing all around
00:10:14for everyone, including United States and Europeans
00:10:17and the regional government is to see
00:10:21solution, to see the implementation of...
00:10:25memorand of understanding to see solution of
00:10:29ending in the aggression of zionist
00:10:32state against his neighbor against humanity
00:10:36and so the world could actually
00:10:40start putting their lives back together and
00:10:44this crisis to begin to be
00:10:47resolved. that's right, mr.
00:10:50horstoll, under the straight of moose deal currently being discussed.
00:10:55uh the start that I'm going to tell you are based on
00:10:58Reuters. um, Iran is seeking transit fees
00:11:02uh of 5% to 7% the cargo price of vessels
00:11:06passing through the strategic waterray the straight of for mouse. Omani
00:11:10officials are pushing for lower fees of around
00:11:133%. Washington is claiming that it wants zero
00:11:17transit fees. I don't where that come from comes from. A
00:11:20fully laiden VLCC, which is very large crude carrier.
00:11:25carries around $150 million dollars worth of
00:11:29oil um which a 5% fee on it at the very least
00:11:32would equal 5.7 million dollars per ship
00:11:36and when considering the average cargo and volume of ships passing through the
00:11:40straight each year it would um net eron roughly about
00:11:4445 billion dollars in tolls yearly
00:11:47when we are speaking about that this number is
00:11:51uh is big enough um that it has two different
00:11:55ramifications: one, it gives iran an economic
00:11:59leverage over different countries that are coming in through the straight of
00:12:03removes, and at the same time a political one. your
00:12:06thoughts? well, to make that very
00:12:10clear, Iran has charged already one million
00:12:14dollar per ship, roughly like like
00:12:18this, and that was easily taken up by the
00:12:21economy. we are now a situation where the... global
00:12:25economy is suffering to such huge
00:12:28extent that we don't know how much the catastrophe
00:12:32in the end will be globally, so this is the situation
00:12:36under these circumstances and also
00:12:40seeing the sacrifices of
00:12:4330,000 dead Iranians, hundreds
00:12:47of hospitals and schools intentionally
00:12:50destroyed by the US, I do think there
00:12:54is a... growing understanding that Iran is
00:12:58good and capable to maintain a very
00:13:02healthy order for a long period over
00:13:05hermous, and that is what the global economy, what all the
00:13:09peoples around the world want, they finally want peace,
00:13:13they want order, they want new security for their
00:13:16shipments, and I think they are ready to pay a
00:13:20higher price than before. I'm no expert on these
00:13:24things. "I can only do my political
00:13:27judgment
00:13:28and the political judgment very clearly says that
00:13:31Iran's reputation globally has grown so
00:13:35much while the US have gone gone down
00:13:38like a missile in the opposite direction so to
00:13:42say so this is the situation so for that reason I think
00:13:46the world is ready for Iran to
00:13:49levy a justified price and that's it if
00:13:53that is now five to" from my side, I
00:13:57can politically agree, but as I say, I'm not
00:14:01an expert,
00:14:03and I think couldn't be more. Mr. Horstole, would Europeans
00:14:07back an Iranian plan over the straight off moves, or would
00:14:10they in your opinion, is it likely that they will go with Donald
00:14:14Trump here? Yeah, that last
00:14:18part of your question is so very interesting, so for one thing,
00:14:22the Europeans are, toothless
00:14:25vessels, they are not free to do or to say
00:14:29anything, as far as the global deep
00:14:33states rule over Europe, Germany as
00:14:37a non-sovereign state has a special situation, we are ruled by
00:14:41the American deep state, that's a special story globally,
00:14:45so this kind of rule makes sure that nothing
00:14:49that is good for Iran will come from Europe, no matter
00:14:52what Mr. Macron from time to time. is telling, he is just
00:14:56making up stories, we know that he talked about peace with Russia and
00:15:00special understanding and he kept zero promises and is
00:15:04it, so this is the situation, unfortunately, so
00:15:08I'm not expecting anything good from the
00:15:11Europeans, but yes, Iran independent,
00:15:14Iran is strong enough to impose its own rules
00:15:18and make the Europeans understand
00:15:22that, if they try anything funny, sending
00:15:25warships to the gulf of Persia or
00:15:29even into the red sea, they have just withdrawn, the Germans for
00:15:32example, they understand they are in no way
00:15:36capable to... put a counterweight against
00:15:39Iran, so I think they will simply obey, that's
00:15:43all. Thank you so much. Mr. Shajare, how would in your opinion
00:15:46a formalized Iran and Oman
00:15:49maritime um arrangements the strage of
00:15:53hormoos affect the global economy at this
00:15:55point? Well, I, I
00:15:59think the global economy needs recovery, the
00:16:03global economy needs stability
00:16:06and and agreement and
00:16:09process will exactly give it what it needs
00:16:13and this is why everyone is waiting for it to
00:16:17happen and but i think it would be wrong to
00:16:20look at the thing only from economical perspective.
00:16:24economy is important, is important to Iran, is important
00:16:28to oman, is important to the regional
00:16:32nations and indeed important globally, but I
00:16:36think what is real the has happened with the
00:16:39significant the victory
00:16:43of Iran, victory for Iran out of this war
00:16:46is that Iran cannot no longer be
00:16:50treated as it was treated before, facing
00:16:54sanction, facing demonization,
00:16:57facing sort of every
00:17:00possible pressure economically, politically
00:17:04and being demonized, ironophobia. have
00:17:08become a n and but after this war, after
00:17:12this victory, this cannot happen any longer.
00:17:16Iran will not allow it to happen, it's not just about how
00:17:20much you are going to charge for the services of
00:17:23allowing every ship to go through, is about the
00:17:27fact that
00:17:28you know Iran has got a paying card that
00:17:32is very powerful, it affects the global
00:17:36economy and
00:17:37now everybody knows that, the gen cannot be put back into
00:17:41the bottle, and this is exactly where we are,
00:17:45and unless there is recognition of this by
00:17:48trump, and and
00:17:52then we will have more time for him
00:17:56to sort of be forced to
00:17:59recognize the reality of geographical
00:18:03reality, political reality and
00:18:06military. military reality the region and
00:18:10recognize that
00:18:11you know he cannot lie his way out of this and looking
00:18:15at the situation of Europe, Europeans have
00:18:19proven that they are irrelevant, they have been irrelevant
00:18:23for very long time. JCPO, you know, they
00:18:27showed that they
00:18:28are incompetent and irrelevant, they can neither
00:18:31resolve or bring any solution or indeed have
00:18:35any say in in the in
00:18:38the in those processes and right now they
00:18:42have they have made it very clear by their
00:18:45action that they are not players in this state
00:18:49and trump has shown that he wants
00:18:53to be the main man of a player but he had no card to
00:18:56play he is indeed stuck in the
00:19:00mod and he has to recognize the
00:19:03reality the longer it takes is going to be more painful.
00:19:08for everyone, but at
00:19:10the end of it, the game is not going to change, the reality
00:19:13is that Iran is a very powerful position
00:19:17after this victory, and indeed the
00:19:21future and the future of region belongs to it,
00:19:24and it is irrelevant the agreement with
00:19:28Oman or not, there would be agreement, the relationship,
00:19:32as my colleague said, between Iran and Roman is is
00:19:36exceptional. and they will come with
00:19:39resolution, but the problem is that is not
00:19:43resolution with oman, is is recognition of
00:19:47Trump, recognizing that he
00:19:50hasn't got any other option and he has
00:19:54to give concession to Iran, not
00:19:57just over the charges, but over the
00:20:01right to be to pay
00:20:04equal right within the internet.
00:20:07community, Mr. Shadia, regarding the
00:20:11Europeans, as it is known fact, of course you
00:20:15can tell me from Bronk here that the Europeans are still having issues when
00:20:19it comes to the Ukraine policy and that is against
00:20:23what is happening against Donald Trump and the world is changing, it is said
00:20:27time and again that new global order is emerging,
00:20:30um, isn't it time for the Europeans to back something that Donald
00:20:34Trump is not backing
00:20:36and that can be? Iran's authority over the straight of
00:20:50indeed, I think, I think this recognition is long
00:20:54overdue, but as it's
00:20:57been said as is been sort of proven over and
00:21:00over and that
00:21:04Europeans are failing, they're incompetent to
00:21:08make right decisions for themselves, they have failed to do
00:21:11so in Ukraine, they have failed to do so
00:21:15over sort of economical
00:21:19agreements. with United States and they're failing
00:21:23here regarding Iran and
00:21:26and the reality is, the reality
00:21:30is that Europe is going to pay heavy price
00:21:34for this and they know it, but they are scared to
00:21:38stand up against the bully, the bully
00:21:41has still demands and
00:21:45total respect, I mean
00:21:46look, it's been... proven over
00:21:50and over, do you remember when all these Europeans went to the
00:21:54oval overal room at
00:21:58the white house and they were all
00:22:02set together like bunch of kids being sort
00:22:06of bullied by Trump, that is a reality that is
00:22:10happening within the international community and they
00:22:14are too scared to stand up against the bully and they
00:22:17will suffer for it, they are a relevant right now and they
00:22:21will suffer long-term so
00:22:25economic and political consequences of this,
00:22:29but i i don't know how they will be
00:22:33awaken to do the right thing, their own citizens
00:22:37in Europe, be in Britain, france,
00:22:41germany, spain or Italy and elsewhere are
00:22:45demanding that their governments make the right disposition
00:22:48and they stand on
00:22:49the right. side of history, but the still they're
00:22:52failing. Mr. Horstole, um, as
00:22:56the last question, how much longer would you say the US
00:22:59obstructionism in the region can go
00:23:01on? Well,
00:23:05I think unfortunately, it can go on quite
00:23:09long, and there's the issue of
00:23:12tactical nukes, which may be used if
00:23:16there's enough craziness in the White House and... enough
00:23:20pressure of satanist,
00:23:23zionist, billionaires who are financing Trump, so
00:23:27this is the situation, it's a very, very
00:23:30complex and corrupt situation, so it's not very
00:23:34sure what will in fact happen, and anything is
00:23:38imaginable, we understanding that the global deep state
00:23:41wants a prolonged conflict around,
00:23:45because they want huge global crisis and
00:23:48then a wonderful huge world war to
00:23:52kill lot of people, this is the secret planning they
00:23:55have, so trump is just the little erant
00:23:59boy, the shine boy these guys, and he's
00:24:03he is becoming with his family incredibly rich
00:24:06through the deals which are enabled by this deep state just
00:24:10recently with Saudi Arabia, so this is a situation which is
00:24:14which is unclear, so we will see in the next days how
00:24:18Trump will decide, we understand. what is the
00:24:21downside for the good side for the world that there will
00:24:24peace and stability maintained by Iran? now the
00:24:28downside is trump will certainly and
00:24:31crazily lose the midterm election and that
00:24:35can lead to his
00:24:37you know impeachment and that can lead to his
00:24:41imprisonment even, so this is a Trump situation, it's
00:24:44a very dangerous situation and we understand
00:24:48it is very close to the... situation of his
00:24:51dear unloved
00:24:55ally Netanyahu who is facing prison if he loses
00:24:58his job in the next election and we have a time
00:25:02in the end of October there's the election in Israel and beginning
00:25:06of November just one week apart there two elections in Israel and the
00:25:10US and if something goes wrong these two
00:25:14crazys decide that they want to have another attack with
00:25:18Iran and the elections, it's
00:25:22very unclear. thank you so much both of you for your
00:25:25time tonight, those were Masud Shajar, chairman the Islamic human rights
00:25:29commission joined us from the British capital, London, and Christopher Horstell
00:25:33author and politician join us from the city of Berlin. thank you so
00:25:37much for your time tonight, and that brings us to the end of this edition over spotlight
00:25:41program. thank you for being with us and bye
00:25:42bye.
00:26:00As an African, I can't help but think about sanctions. as in Zimbabwe
00:26:03because that was what introduced me to sanction in the first place, where the
00:26:07Zimbabwe people had to suffer because of US unilateral
00:26:11sanction and also the EU sanction, and what that sanction did to
00:26:15the entire economy, but having come to Iran, I realize the sanction
00:26:19can be treated as swatt. What is what? In
00:26:22business, swat means s
00:26:25a, which means strength, witness,
00:26:28opportunities and threat, and that is how Iranians are treated.
00:26:32sanctions by turning it into strength, and
00:26:35today Iran produces over
00:26:3890% of its food
00:26:41consumption.
00:26:55According to the most recent sensors, Iran has 90 million
00:26:59people, or over 90 million people, and
00:27:02produces over 90% the food that its people
00:27:05need. it is so self-sufficient in creating food and
00:27:09producing food that it is also exporting to other
00:27:12countries. we are only very few countries that have been able
00:27:16to attain over 70% of food sufficiency
00:27:20according to the UN. and those countries are China,
00:27:24Russia, the United States and Iran is also one
00:27:28them. but the difference is Iran is heavily
00:27:31sanctioned.
00:27:40According to UN estimate export of agricultural
00:27:43products now amounts for 12% of Iran's
00:27:47total GDP, when you compare that to
00:27:51the countries around Iran that are well relatively
00:27:55much much richer than Iran, but they cannot produce
00:27:59even 2% the food that they consume.
00:28:02countries like Saudi Arabia, like Kuwait, like
00:28:06Oman, what we can argue that some these countries are
00:28:09experiencing drought and the geography does not allow for
00:28:13food production, but one the lies we've been told is that
00:28:17to be self-sufficient in food and consumption, you have
00:28:21to be very, very rich. You can also compare that to
00:28:24African countries that have huge hurriable land that
00:28:28allow them to be able to farm, but most...
00:28:32African countries still import over 70% the
00:28:36food they
00:28:37consume,
00:28:47well this is one the good restaurant in Tehran and I've come to try
00:28:51very famous Iranian dish known as
00:28:53conti.
00:28:57This is considered by Iranian as the king of food.
00:29:01One thing Iran has taught up. from the very first moment that have been
00:29:04covering sanctions around the world and especially in Iran, whether it is
00:29:08from the military doctrine to their technology when
00:29:12it comes to medicine or the ability to be able to produce your own
00:29:16food, is that when a nation takes a
00:29:19decision that it can do it, it will find
00:29:23ways, whether you're sanctioned by everybody in the world or your
00:29:26sanction by the United
00:29:28States.
00:29:35Very
00:29:35delicious.
00:30:16Islamic Revolution Gard Core says imposed wars on Iran have
00:30:20revealed a strategic deadlock the US and Israel, adding the world media
00:30:24admits Trump's
00:30:25failure.
00:30:30Hemen many armed forces say that they've carried out. strikes on Saudi Back troops in
00:30:34Madrid province of
00:30:35Yemen
00:30:40and Spain as announced a border controls against Italy
00:30:44a titftat move as raw over a Swedda
00:30:48migrant influx
00:30:49intensifies.
