00:01:19had showed incoming and then it tells you where the thing is supposed to
00:01:23land and so that
00:01:24of allows people to get ready and all of sudden the missiles start maneuvering which was
00:01:27capability we didn't know Iran had. that was causing real problems for the
00:01:31humaners even respond to them. can you tell us anything about what kind of
00:01:35missiles he's talking about and should we be worried? oh
00:01:39we definitely should be very
00:01:40of worried. i'm surprised these guys have only figured this out

00:02:40of the uh satellite imagery the US has been
00:02:42of trying to block this stuff but uh there's still some satellite companies that are putting this
00:02:46stuff out there these are evidences
00:02:48of the specific targets that the Iranian side has been
00:02:51having this is these are all American uh bases that you see
00:02:55in on the screen here that have pinpoint targets so there every time they shooted
00:02:59something. hit it? oh yeah, i think
00:03:02what we now know about the
00:03:05Iranian
00:03:07a missiles is is that first of all they're using
00:03:10the chinese
00:03:14bedo
00:03:17of navigation system, it's it's sort of a version
00:03:21of the American GPS system, but it
00:03:24can't be jamned in other words, there's no way to
00:03:28of stop them from getting... the navigation signals
00:03:31and they can also get
00:03:35precise information on their
00:03:38locations while they're traveling through
00:03:41space, so they're a
00:03:45early in their trajectory, they're on what's called a
00:03:47of ballistic trajectory, the it's governed essentially
00:03:51of by the grav gravitational field
00:03:53of the earth and momentum
00:03:54of the object, and
00:03:58they
00:03:58of can get absolute.
00:04:11of
00:04:27of say it's 100 kilometers
00:04:31and they know
00:04:35their their position to about one
00:04:39meter of accuracy in three dimensions, one one
00:04:43in meter in three dimensions or less and they
00:04:47have they have
00:04:50accelerometers on on these devices
00:04:53that can measure the acceleration that
00:04:57is not do. that is due to atmospheric
00:05:01reentry and also due
00:05:04of to the
00:05:05of rocket motor that
00:05:05of they turn on on the vehicle so so
00:05:09the the precision i
00:05:11was just this up last week, because they're commercially
00:05:15available, they call mems,
00:05:18microelectronic, mechanical
00:05:21sensors, and they're tiny things, they're what when
00:05:25the drones are flying, they have them on them, and they're
00:05:29ubiquitus, they're all over the place, so you just buy
00:05:32them, highly
00:05:33precise, and very,
00:05:37very, very conservative estimate is
00:05:41they... "the inaccuracies from
00:05:45these mems introduced during
00:05:48reentry process is maybe few meters, wow,
00:05:52few meters. now there's what's called the control
00:05:56problem, you're trying to control the orientation the
00:05:59warhead, and every small movement out of
00:06:03what you really would
00:06:04like to get causes
00:06:05you to maneuver, and so I would
00:06:09say that they probably have few tens of..."
00:06:12meters of accuracy at the target, which
00:06:15is very good, especially when you're delivering a
00:06:19warhead, the warhead, I'll show
00:06:23you, yeah, delivers the equivalent of about a
00:06:264,000 or 500 pound explosive at the
00:06:30target, that's an enormous explosive
00:06:33charge, and most the power of that
00:06:37explosive, of that explosion comes from the kinetic
00:06:41energy of impact. other words, this thing hits the ground so
00:06:44fast that it just
00:06:47vaporizes, it's
00:06:50much, it's well
00:06:52beyond, for example, it's traveling a speed well
00:06:56beyond that the oreshnic munitions,
00:06:59wow are hitting the ground at maybe three kilometers per
00:07:03second, this thing is hitting the ground at over four kilometers per
00:07:07second, now 3 kilometers per
00:07:10second gives you the... equivalent kinetic
00:07:13energy of gives you the equivalent
00:07:17explosive energy the weight the
00:07:20munition in TNT, in other
00:07:23words, all of this, this is not explosion, explosion
00:07:27from explosive materials, it's an
00:07:31explosion from all of this kinetic energy
00:07:34being nearly instantaneously converted
00:07:38to kinetic energy
00:07:39from,
00:07:44the
00:07:44the the piece of material that hits the ground gets compressed so fast by
00:07:48the interaction with the ground that it superheats to 500
00:07:526000 degrees kelvin temperature the sun
00:07:55surface and that expands violently
00:07:58outward like an explosion, it is an explosion.
00:08:02now when it hits at four kilometers per
00:08:05second, that's four kilometers
00:08:08divid
00:08:09by 3 kilometers per second, so it's maybe say it's one and... half or
00:08:131.6 - you square that and that
00:08:17gives you the rough equivalent energy and tnt of
00:08:20hitting the ground a little bit over 4 kilometers per second, which is
00:08:24about two and a half when you do the arithmetic carefully,
00:08:28so the weight the warhead is a
00:08:31thousand kilogram, so it's say it's 2
00:08:35pounds, you get factor so
00:08:382 pounds of just non
00:08:42explosive material compressed, turned
00:08:46into kinetic energy into an explosion by kinetic energy
00:08:50impact, so that brings you up to 5,000 pounds of
00:08:54explosive power, plus you have a couple of
00:08:58thousand pounds of explosive material in the warhead, so this
00:09:01thing has the power of a 500 or 6000
00:09:05pound explosive when it hits the ground, and it does
00:09:09tremendous damage, and I can show you some the evidence. for
00:09:12this and let's just look at
00:09:16slide um two, this is the missile itself,
00:09:20it's the alphata, and if you look to the right the missile
00:09:24where you can see the warhead itself, you see a
00:09:27winged vehicle that has
00:09:30very, very low drag, so it comes into the
00:09:33atmosphere, it experiences
00:09:36very minimal aerodynamic drag, and
00:09:40if we look at ' slide
00:09:43four, let's just go, there we go, you can see
00:09:47that in the back of this warhead it has rocket motor, see the
00:09:51rocket motor is in the forefront, and that rocket
00:09:54motor is able to generate a
00:09:58couple of thous pounds of thrust over time
00:10:02intervals of 30 seconds, 40 seconds,
00:10:06no problem at all, so so that's during
00:10:10the entire time of reentry. Now if we go to
00:10:13slide six, we can actually
00:10:17see this is one these warheads arriving in
00:10:19Israel, that long bright
00:10:23plum
00:10:24the front.
00:10:55high temperatures in the generated by the kinetic energy
00:10:59and the explosion, that's like four
00:11:02or 500 pounds of explosion, explosive energy being
00:11:05instantaneously released, and if you look in
00:11:08the next slide we can even see powerful shock

00:11:17shock wave, this is really intense explosion to have a
00:11:20visible shock wave generated by the
00:11:24explosion. so if you just wanted to get a sense of
00:11:28how much damage uh one these
00:11:31explosions can do, why don't we just go to slide

00:11:41there you go, now in in the lower right of
00:11:4513, i have put in blast contours, this
00:11:49is Washington DC, the
00:11:52building in the middle is... is the
00:11:56library of congress, that's a big massive concrete and steel
00:11:59building, and to the right is a
00:12:03neighborhood that's immediately adjacent, just regular
00:12:06buildings. now the inner circle,
00:12:10innermost the four circles
00:12:14shows you the 40 pound per square
00:12:16inch blast
00:12:19range, the limit of it, all those
00:12:23buildings in that circle will just..."
00:12:55inch one at the outer circle would would would knock
00:12:58in the interior walls, might not
00:13:02knock down the buildings at the two pound per square inch point, but
00:13:06the interior walls of all inside the
00:13:09buildings will be knocked out by the blast wave that's propagating
00:13:13through the building, so this one warhead would
00:13:17essentially eliminate this block of
00:13:21buildings, remember the term blockbuster, from
00:13:25World War II, this is a blockbuster, now
00:13:29if we go to the next slide just to make
00:13:32clear what the effects of multiple warheads would
00:13:35be, all this shows
00:13:38is, I've just amplified the first slide by
00:13:42putting three detonation areas
00:13:46down, and the one to the
00:13:50left, which I assume goes through the roof
00:13:53the... uh library of congress
00:13:57will essentially destroy the whole library of congress,
00:14:01because if it penetrates into the building, the shock wave will tend
00:14:05to be contained, and the blast wave will be so
00:14:08intense around that 40 pound per square inch point that all
00:14:12the internal structure will be destroyed at that point, other areas
00:14:16the structure farther away will be severely damaged,
00:14:20so it'll look, it it'll look like the
00:14:23building ' the uh the mirror building in
00:14:27Oklahoma City, if if the warhead went through the
00:14:31roof, it would look like uh, the damage that was
00:14:35done to the building in in in in in Oklahoma City by
00:14:39the 10,00 pound bomb or 15 thousand pound
00:14:43bomb that was detonated in the terrorist attack in
00:14:46Oklahoma City, this building would be gone for all
00:14:50purposes, the uh uh the
00:14:54third uh detonation point which is shown on on the
00:14:57upper right, would destroy that other block, so you'd have
00:15:01two blocks of regularly
00:15:05constructed housing destroyed, plus the entire
00:15:08library of congress by this, these
00:15:12three postulated warheads hitting at those aim points,
00:15:16now think of Tel Aviv being subjected to
00:15:20this, can you imagine the damage in Tel Aviv, because this has been going
00:15:24a... while not every warhead
00:15:27hitting is one these, there you
00:15:31go, you're really quick, but
00:15:35this is the kind
00:15:35of damage that would be into the
00:15:38in the interior the library of congress
00:15:42from this warhead that i postulated hitting the library of
00:15:46congress, so these are very
00:15:50severe levels of damage, and this is what's been
00:15:53going
00:15:54on in Tel Aviv, and the Israelis have
00:15:57been censoring
00:16:00the information from these
00:16:04attacks, but I can see why...
00:16:07Netanyahu was telling Trump at one point that he's more
00:16:11worried about the missiles than he is about
00:16:15nuclear weapon about the Iranian nuclear weapons, which
00:16:19which he's on record saying at various points, so so this
00:16:22is the kind of damage you would see, the
00:16:26shock wave would propagate into the building further,
00:16:30of course where the damage is done it would have would have
00:16:34destroyed and collapsed all the floors. "and this
00:16:38building, there's nothing
00:16:40you can do with this building except tear it down, it's
00:16:43done, so this is the kind of
00:16:46damage we can expect as the war
00:16:50goes on in Tel Aviv and Haifa, if the
00:16:54Iranians start attacking with Tel Aviv and Ha
00:16:58with Alfat missiles, they will do severe levels
00:17:01of damage, but a lower level per missile if they don't use
00:17:05these rocket. accelerated warheads,
00:17:09but we're talking about serious damage,
00:17:12and this can go on for very long time,
00:17:15because do you have any sense for how many these missiles that we
00:17:19think Iran has? uh, we we really don't
00:17:23know, but hundreds them, almost
00:17:26surely, thousands them, quite
00:17:29possibly, so hundreds these things would do
00:17:33tremendous damage, but if the thousands them, which we can't rule
00:17:36out, "uh, you know, we're talking about
00:17:39real levels of damage that's uh, you know,
00:17:43to Tel Aviv and Ha, you, you could, you could
00:17:47end
00:17:48the economic viability of
00:17:51Israel, you know, by destroying, there are only
00:17:55few big cities where almost all the economic activity in
00:17:59Israel is is going on, so is
00:18:03there anything in the cumulative integrated air defense
00:18:06system of?
00:18:08for for Israel, you're talking about the iron dome, david sling, all the
00:18:12different kinds of facilities i have, thads, factories
00:18:15etc. is
00:18:17there anything that can defeat those missiles? no, no, i
00:18:20think the maneuvering these people, for
00:18:24example, if it had a high capability to hit
00:18:28targets and doubt that, but let's assume
00:18:32it does, it
00:18:33requires 30 or 40'.
00:19:08take many many tens of seconds to reach the locations where
00:19:12they're going to attempt to hit the incoming missile and you
00:19:16can't predict where that be if
00:19:17location the missile is
00:19:20to is going able to maneuver, you can predict where it's going to be if it's a ballistic
00:19:24trajectory and you know how to predict the
00:19:28location because the trajectory is determined by
00:19:31gravitation and momentum, but you
00:19:35don't have that in the case of
00:19:37a power.
00:20:07here, there was some claims when when the president Trump is claiming
00:20:11that we knock down all eight of those missiles, there was additional
00:20:15reporting prior to him making that, what's that?
00:20:18sorry, go ahead uh, there was some claims before
00:20:21that that there were some on the United States that said, hey, we
00:20:25only had minutes of warning before these things get, we barely even had time to
00:20:29to go into uh, to go into shelters, etc., that is
00:20:33lot less than what we had been in the past, and I wonder if you can just kind of... talk a little
00:20:37bit about uh the presumed damage that has been done because
00:20:41the radars that Iran has been hitting over the last couple of months
00:20:45especially uh and and what whether we're hit anything
00:20:49or not. "it's reducing our warning time before missils
00:20:53even hit, well the thad radar does have a
00:20:57long-range capability, and
00:21:00our satellites in space can see the launch and we
00:21:04can see the first 60 or 70 seconds of
00:21:08powered flight, we can see the rocket plum, the exhaust plome
00:21:12once the rocket exhaust plom stops, the
00:21:15satellites cannot track, so the but they can do they can get
00:21:19a..."
00:21:50I don't know if there is a thad radar yet working,
00:21:54all five the thad radars were destroyed
00:21:57early in the war, the first few day two days the war or one day the
00:22:01war by the Iranians, but they have taken a fad
00:22:04radar out of South Korea, and I don't know if it's
00:22:08yet operating, and the right place to put
00:22:12it so that the it can give warning to the
00:22:15Israeli population is is is in
00:22:19Israel. "also it may be the best place to put it because
00:22:23it's far enough away that there's some chance they can
00:22:27keep its location difficult to find, although I think
00:22:30that's doubtful, but I think that that radar will be
00:22:34destroyed sooner or later because they will locate it, and once
00:22:38they locate it they can go after it as they did in the first day the
00:22:42war. so what is absence
00:22:42what the the thad radars is supposed to any and are there any
00:22:46other uh similar categories of radars that?" can bring
00:22:50in that's going to give us enough knowledge about incoming missiles throughout the
00:22:54region, well the arrow radars uh
00:22:58have some capability, they can probably see objects a couple
00:23:02of hundred kilometers range, which would be
00:23:0630, you couple of minutes
00:23:08warning, that's helpful, any warning is
00:23:12helpful, right now without the
00:23:14radars, what the Israelis
00:23:18know is that there's going... to be attack few minutes before
00:23:21it happens, because
00:23:24they they the
00:23:27satellites in space can tell them there's been a
00:23:31launch against Israel, it can't tell them
00:23:34where the impacts are going to be, so if you're in tel
00:23:38aviv
00:23:39you don't know it's tel aviv
00:23:41and if you're in h you don't know it's hyfa, but you know
00:23:45a couple of minutes something could happen, so
00:23:48that's what the... israelis are probably complaining about
00:23:52now when they had the radars they could
00:23:55know that yes h is about to be
00:23:59hit and you might have two or three
00:24:03minutes of of warning from the
00:24:06radar buse you could see it far enough away to know to take
00:24:10shelter so so you know it's it's in your
00:24:14city h let's say and you know you have two or three minutes to get
00:24:18to a shelter which is... not a lot of time, but is
00:24:21adequate, so um, so that's
00:24:25a much better situation than
00:24:28knowing there was a launch
00:24:31and sometime in the next 10 minutes or so

00:24:36you know, um, there's
00:24:40a warhead that might explode in your city,
00:24:44near you, or maybe in Haifa, or maybe beer Shiva, you
00:24:47don't, so everyone has to take shelter. all across the country,
00:24:51so that's much more disruptive than when you
00:24:55know it's coming two or three minutes from now in your
00:24:59area, so that's the situation you have without the
00:25:02radars. apparently the commander of central
00:25:06command, admiral Cooper, is suggesting that President
00:25:10Trump try and change the war one more time, but this
00:25:13time with another two-week campaign, but just heavier bombs,
00:25:17one the things that really stood out to me and I really... like your view on this
00:25:21is the
00:25:22uh Cooper argued in favor of stepping up tacks to completely diminish
00:25:26Iran's missile capabilities uh according to
00:25:29NBC, the uh go big approach he said would
00:25:33diminish would minimize the US's need for the use of defensive
00:25:36munition since there would be less incoming fire uh from
00:25:40Iran but I still keep going back to
00:25:43uh this um because look
00:25:46i heavier bombing do do we have any? thing that's going
00:25:50to get through this stuff that's going to knock
00:25:52that out that we didn't in the first 40 days or the second 13, well i
00:25:56don't know what he's talking about, mean uh, and i
00:26:00think he doesn't know what he's talking about too.
00:26:03because what kinds of bombs is he talking about? mean it's
00:26:07ridiculous, the bombs that uh that we
00:26:11have cannot penetrate close to the depths that you need
00:26:15in order to get at these under under mountain
00:26:19targets, the um uh we do have
00:26:22penetrating bombs that may be able to get at
00:26:26tunnels because the're tunnels that are just built in the desert
00:26:30open desert areas. uh, but uh,
00:26:33you don't know where the tunnels are. if you know where a tunnel entrance is, you don't
00:26:37know where the tunnel goes behind, so I
00:26:40mean, so I know where the tunnel entrance is, here it
00:26:44is, and the tunnel, the tunnel
00:26:48goes somewhere, and the tunnel goes and it takes a turn, and it takes another
00:26:52turn, and it takes another turn, and the their other tunnels
00:26:56off it, I have no way of knowing where those tunnels
00:26:59are, so
00:27:01the the only way, 'if I happen to have a warhead that might reach
00:27:05deep enough to go through the top of a
00:27:08tunnel, I need to know where those tunnels are, and

00:27:12of knowing that, so I don't know what Cooper's talking about, who is this
