00:10:13in the occupied west bank, now to discuss the matter further, let me
00:10:16bring in Press TV's correspondent in Beirut,
00:10:20Mariam, thank you so much for your time tonight as you're
00:10:24joining us, what was your first reaction when you heard about
00:10:27the detention of our correspondent in the west
00:10:30bank?
00:10:37it seems that we have connection issues um and
00:10:41mariam cannot hear our voice, again let me give you a
00:10:45quick rundown on what has been happening in the past several
00:10:48hours after the detention of press tv's
00:10:51correspondent what happened?
00:10:55was after we had the reports
00:10:58that press tv's correspondents near the city of
00:11:01Bethlehem um we this is something
00:11:05totally normal and deoccupied west bank according to the different analys that we have
00:11:09been bringing in, what is happening is settler
00:11:13violence is ramping up especially after the Israel
00:11:17genocide in Gaza now what have been witnessed is
00:11:21also according to Israeli rights group more than uh
00:11:2560 journalists have been apprehended and detained by the
00:11:28Israelite occupation forces after they have been
00:11:32um under a phase of violence by the israely settlers.
00:11:36now it seems that if we have Press TV's correspondent in Beirut, Mariam

00:11:40with us, Mariam, thank you so much for your time tonight. what was your initial
00:11:44reaction when you heard about the detention of Press TV's
00:11:47correspondent in the occupied West
00:11:49Bank? well it was of course
00:11:53shock, it was not shock. because we know that the Israelies
00:11:57are capable of anything, we have witnessed of course the
00:12:00cortion and the direct attacks and killing of journalists in
00:12:04lebanon as well, but of course we've been following up the situation in the west bank, I've
00:12:08seen the the brave and courageous reporting
00:12:12of nakamed throughout the past months and and all the time of
00:12:16course she's been reporting especially in the heightened violence
00:12:20the Israeli settlers, the terrorist settlers,
00:12:23and we've seen how despite... the fact that she knows she could
00:12:27of course have her life threatened a daily basis, based on her
00:12:31reporting, still we see her go to the frontlines, follow up and
00:12:35report on the continuous Israeli terrorist attacks
00:12:39and aggressions in that area and of course uh showing very clearly that the
00:12:43attacks are not only just the settlers,
00:12:45it is settler violence that is protected and
00:12:49also uh coordinated perhaps by the Israeli
00:12:52occupation forces now of course,
00:12:56um,
00:12:57it is any way because we are human at the end, and I
00:13:01know that she is not just a fellow woman, she is
00:13:05also, I believe mother, and she is someone um who
00:13:09of course is living among her family, she
00:13:12is missed by her family of course, and so that
00:13:16is something that saddens me actually, because uh, I know that she is not
00:13:20someone who was carrying arms, she was not carrying a weapon of any
00:13:24kind, she was not... carrying even knife, and so what, but she what she
00:13:28was carrying was her microphone, the camera of
00:13:31course that was used by the camera man, and that is her crime, and I think that
00:13:35that is what the Israelis are actually targeting, and despite
00:13:39all the reports saying that the Israelis have heightened
00:13:42their direct aggression against journalists
00:13:46after October the 7th and for the Alxaflot
00:13:49operation, it is not the flood operation of course
00:13:53in the continuous Israels. genocide in Gazza, it is not what
00:13:57really began that crackdown, the crackdown on journalists began
00:14:01way before that uh, and we can recall of course in the

00:14:52the west bank and we can recall of course Sharin Abu in
00:14:56that respect, and that was in 2022, that was not
00:15:00after the al flood operation, that was before that, and we can see that these
00:15:04crackdown the Israelis on journalism, this is just one example of
00:15:08many, this is addition to the fact that the prisons are
00:15:11filled with palestinian journalists and foreign journalists
00:15:15for that matter, and of course we know that the Israelis had stopped even
00:15:19giving visas and accepting the
00:15:23reporting the uh the events in in the not only in
00:15:27the west bank but also alcots, we can remember of course the
00:15:30protest, the the the unarmed protesters who were
00:15:34surrounding the L-A mask in alcuts of... of course
00:15:38protesting for because the the desacration the
00:15:42el mosk and of course the continued judaization the
00:15:46Allosk and that area and the the alkuts area which is
00:15:49by based on international if we may say agreements is
00:15:53supposed to be for the Palestinians continues to be under occupation the Israelis of
00:15:57course are also making the people live a direct
00:16:01security state if we may say continuous checkpoints

00:16:09whether in their houses, the the cameras go into their
00:16:12bedrooms, as we know in the old uh
00:16:15city of quts and so that is issue that was there, it was in
00:16:19place and it was bound to reach and lead into an
00:16:22explosion because the uh the prisons were filled with
00:16:26prisoners, this is what led to of course anger among the Palestinians and
00:16:30the Palestinian resistance of course had no choice uh but to
00:16:34continue with its operations with its resistance in order to to... get the
00:16:38freedom of many palestinians and even after the uh the
00:16:42so-called cease fire in Ghazza, there was a release of many the
00:16:45prisoners, some of whom were prisoner were
00:16:48journalists, we had once again more arrests,
00:16:52and we see now that with Naqa, and it's what is what
00:16:56is sad here in this respect is that I think it's very
00:16:59difficult for people to really know her situation,
00:17:03and based on reports that we have on how women are abducted.
00:17:07and how women how she's going to be actually
00:17:10treated, there's so much maltreatment
00:17:14especially for women, there's no special treatment any
00:17:17way um for any the for her
00:17:21the any health situation or or needs and

00:17:33based on various previous examples, many women...

00:17:42months on end and so that in itself uh is
00:17:45considered crisis, this is humanitarian crisis,
00:17:49this is a an outrage, and this is
00:17:53something that people need to cry out about and shout about, and
00:17:56despite the killing of hundreds of journalists in gazza, despite the killing of
00:18:00journalists in the west bank, one of whom were I
00:18:03said was actually an American citizen
00:18:06and you have... of course many other examples of even a
00:18:10foreign journalists who are directly shot, directly attacked by
00:18:14the Israelis, we hear some statements from the
00:18:17international community, but we do not see any action being
00:18:20taken to actually protect those journalists, and these are journalists that
00:18:24are clearly like we saw wearing their press vests,
00:18:28their helmets, clearly just doing their job
00:18:31of journalists and even when the Israelis of course we know based on
00:18:35some the reports
00:18:36that the Israelis are saying that they have given themselves the right to
00:18:40arrest any journalist based on what they call security
00:18:43threats. um, but of course it is very difficult to see what security
00:18:47threats there is especially since
00:18:50naqat hammed herself is only reporting on the
00:18:53humanitarian side of things and so this is what we have been seeing seeing
00:18:57especially since the this huge
00:19:01this huge terrorism that we've seen from the Israeli
00:19:04settlers, the focus has been on those aggressive
00:19:08actions and of course on the humanitarian situation in the west

00:20:06narrate stories. in their way and it's the public opinion that decides
00:20:10um what to take as the truth, but when it comes to
00:20:13the to design regime, that's not the case, the
00:20:17silencing silencing a person like naga

00:20:23say terrorizing people in Palestine, in Iran in

00:22:29day, it's becoming getting closer to the reality of
00:22:33things, the circumstances surrounding the
00:22:36world, and what happened in Minab, what happened
00:22:39in the island of sirik, the attack on the wedding where people were
00:22:43celebrating a wedding, the massacre of children in minab, the
00:22:47massacre of women and children in. lamert and what's
00:22:51been happening in Gazza and the Palestinian, the
00:22:55occupied Palestinian territories for the past few
00:22:58years, these are all sign
00:23:02that this, it's now our
00:23:05mandate to be honest with you, as as journalists and not just us as
00:23:09journalists, but every freedom loving soul around
00:23:13the world to speak for napa right now, this is

00:23:54wedding and also this
00:23:58mentality of trying to test new weapons
00:24:01on innocent children, these are all they all
00:24:05stem from the terrorist nature the us and designist regime, to be honest with
00:24:09you, you ask my opinion, why would you
00:24:12silence the voice of a journalist, if if you're
00:24:16really sure about the nature of your deeds and actions,
00:24:20so it's very clear that the whole global
00:24:24media, the control that the
00:24:27western countries, particularly the US have
00:24:31over media has
00:24:35so far perhaps managed to control
00:24:38certain public opinion, but now the world is
00:24:42getting closer closer to to point where the truth is being revealed and
