00:00:45Welcome to the Israeli watch rising oil prices as a
00:00:48result of what has recently taken place in Arabian
00:00:52peninsula as well as the situation in Gaza and Lebanon were
00:00:55some of the topics addressed in Israeli media. Other topics
00:00:59included the financial cost of Israeli wars. We will discuss
00:01:03these further with Miss Laila Hatum, political economist,
00:01:06editor in Chief, Mina uncensored. Welcome, Miss
00:01:08Laila. The access of resistance has
00:01:12achieved a string of major successes, as oil
00:01:16prices have risen considerably as a result of
00:01:19latest events in the Arabian
00:01:21peninsula.
00:01:23That's what the head of Iran recorded in recent
00:01:25days.
00:01:30In which the Houthi rebels captured several strategic targets
00:01:33in particular. The rebels captured the port city of Mocha on the shores of the Red
00:01:37Sea, and the Islands of Hanish and Tayun in the center of Bab al-Mandeb. Three targets
00:01:40that allow them to effectively
00:01:44control this important maritime passage. The Houthis imposed
00:01:47a blockade on Saudi Arabia, the world's largest oil producer, through Bab al-Mandeb
00:01:51in recent months. The number of barrels of oil that passed through the strait
00:01:54plummeted from three million barrels a day to only
00:01:58400,000. This is expected to drop
00:02:01even further, and the bad news doesn't end here.
00:02:05After Iran blocked the passage in the Strait of Hormuz, through which about a fifth
00:02:08of the world's energy supply passed in normal times. The Saudis tried
00:02:12to circumvent this blockade through the east-west pipeline
00:02:15that connects the Persian Gulf to the Red Sea, and transported
00:02:18five million barrels of oil through it every day.
00:02:22But this weekend, Shiite militias in Iraq attacked this
00:02:25pipeline, and Saudi Arabia was forced to give it up too. Look at
00:02:29these images. Before and after the attack. It is unclear how
00:02:32long it will take the Saudis to repair this damage. So let's
00:02:36zoom in for a moment. Traffic in the Strait of Hormuz is disrupted by Iran.
00:02:40Saudi Arabia to act in light of The Saudi attempt to circumvent this blockade through the east-west pipeline
00:02:44did not succeed due to attacks from Iraq, and what still reaches the Red
00:02:47Sea is blocked due to the Houthi blockade in Bab
00:02:50al-Mandeb. The only route that remains truly open for now
00:02:55governments any point, there was a is through the Suez Canal, and it is much longer and
00:02:57more expensive. And the implications of this thing.
00:03:30in terms of energy prices, but also to the electrified
00:03:33situation in the GCC, remember over the past
00:03:37three years, especially over the past year exactly, the Americans have been trying
00:03:40to push the GCC nations to fight
00:03:43Iran, whether by creating false flags or basically by
00:03:47saying that if you don't stand with
00:03:50us then basically Iran is going to prevail in the region,
00:03:53now when they failed to push the GCC states into
00:03:57taking that step and fighting the Israeli American... versus
00:04:00Iran, um, they resorted to something else, they pushed Saudi
00:04:04Arabia actually to fight with Yemen, and that
00:04:08means in their mindset, they're saying that Saudi Arabia will be
00:04:11fighting Iran in Yemen, this is how they thought of it, they did not
00:04:15expect that the Yemenis still have the ability to retaliate, and
00:04:19this aggravated situation caused for what you call the closure of state of
00:04:23Babel mandab, so not only the straight of hermus is closed now, but also the
00:04:26strate of Babel Mandab, aside from energy prices being... hiking
00:04:30because of the closure of this rate of hermus because of
00:04:3322% of world energy needs comes out from there, the
00:04:38Russia's main oil refinery and a hit is now against what you call nearly 30% of the trade
00:04:40or more than that between what you call europe and far
00:04:44east that happens through that but question miss laila by you saying that they
00:04:48pushed Saudi Arabia so Saudi Arabia didn't want and was
00:04:51obliged in a way well Saudi Arabia had that what you call some
00:04:55sort of a truth signed with the Yemani armed
00:04:58forces Ansar allah. "they call them, but they're called allah back in
00:05:022022, and to a certain degree both
00:05:05sides respected it, even despite the fact that there were some beaches
00:05:09here and there over the past four years uh." "it wasn't
00:05:13until recently that the Saudis were pushed into
00:05:16basically that pit as we call it that they
00:05:20breach this agreement by banning planes from
00:05:23landing in in Yemen
00:05:26Yemen basically
00:05:29Yemen in Iran and elsewhere from basically
00:05:32returning home so at the end of the day they did that so the
00:05:35Yemnisarullah actually retaliated by hitting their
00:05:38airport and that's when the escalation started the americans started finding the "
00:05:43and they use what you call false flags, the hitting of the east-west
00:05:46pipeline is false flag so far, because neither
00:05:50basically ansar allah nor the Iranians actually
00:05:53adopted it, they denied hitting that pipeline, which says a lot
00:05:57that there's somebody who's pushing for Saudi Arabia to actually go into a
00:06:01further war, Saudi Arabia finds itself facing
00:06:04major dilemma with Yemen, as escalation carries grave
00:06:08risks especially while the US is apparently reluctant to
00:06:11get deep
00:06:15It must be said that all the most difficult scenarios for the Saudi
00:06:19kingdom are coming true, especially the damage to the oil
00:06:23export chains. Pay attention, the most significant event happened this weekend with that
00:06:26damage to the east-west pipeline. This is an oil pipeline
00:06:29of 1200 kilometers that is disrupted following an
00:06:33attack or a missile attack. It is not entirely clear
00:06:37that it originates from Iraq specifically. We are talking
00:06:40about a super important pipeline that was actually meant to transfer
00:06:43Saudi oil to the Red Sea, and it is shut down. Add to this the damage
00:06:47in Hormuz, add to this, of course, the dramatic Houthi conquests
00:06:51around the Strait of Bab al-Mandeb. I want to remind you that six million
00:06:54barrels of oil are transported daily from Saudi Arabia through this strait.
00:06:58Now, for them, it's closed, and I'll show you an unbearable situation for
00:07:02the Saudis. And therefore, now, after I've said all this, there's a
00:07:06super big dilemma for Saudi Arabia: should they go into a
00:07:09big campaign against the Houthis and thereby risk
00:07:13a significant blow, maybe even a direct confrontation with the
00:07:16Iranians? And more than that, there's also a big question mark about the extent of American
00:07:20aid, because the United States doesn't really want to help
00:07:23the Saudis with anything related to the Houthis. And what might cool
00:07:27the Saudis' enthusiasm to enter a renewed
00:07:30confrontation with the Houthis even further is the fact that the Houthis have been taking
00:07:34over quite a few airports, military camps,
00:07:37and seizing a lot of weapons in recent days. Pay attention, Amelia,
00:07:41Saudi and Emirati weapons.
00:07:52the current situation? Well, the Saudis have got themselves into what
00:07:56you call very hard place, they are now stuck
00:08:00in quick sand, nobody had fought the Yemenis in the past and
00:08:03actually what you call came out in one piece, so at the end of the day
00:08:07I do believe that this whole operation to involve Saudi Arabia in
00:08:11this war came for. two reasons, one to drain it
00:08:14financially and have it pay for the war that's happening, and this is what pleases
00:08:18the Americans and the Israelis and at the same time weeken the largest GCC
00:08:21power in the future, if the Israelis want to take over what you call parts of
00:08:25Saudi Arabia as greater Israel, the Saudis would have been what you call
00:08:29drained out of their military power and at the same time they have all these
00:08:33fights with their neighbors and nobody likes them at the end of the day if you look at it Saudi
00:08:37Arabia and the UAE are fighting and Saudi Arabia verbally at least for for
00:08:41now and Saudi Arabia and are fighting with missiles, at the
00:08:44end of the day I do expect that it's going to reflect negatively on their economy and
00:08:48it's going to what you call cause also further tension politically and
00:08:52socially internally, but the US is going to sell
00:08:55them now F15, what does this mean? it's selling them
00:08:59f35 after basically one f15 got hit by the
00:09:03Yemenis, which is a game changer by the way, the Americans
00:09:06need the money and how do you milk Saudi Arabia and other
00:09:10GCC nations by selling them other? GCC nations by selling them more
00:09:14weapons, but those weapons can they use them against the Israelis or the Americans,
00:09:17no. Can the Saudis actually operate the Americans against
00:09:21American troops and the Americans against American troops in the region or the
00:09:25Israelis if they they're selling them these weapons to fight other Muslims
00:09:28and other arabs in the region. The
00:09:31Hebrew media continues its exceptional focus on Saudi
00:09:35Arabia's situation following the major advance achieved
00:09:39by the Yemeni forces affiliated with this.
00:09:56and it didn't start just this week, it started much earlier, and I have to say
00:10:00that when you analyze the Saudi behavior, especially in the last week, since
00:10:03the Houthis took over the areas that overlook Bab
00:10:06al-Mandeb, you identify something that is no less
00:10:09than hysteria. There are also very, very
00:10:12disturbing reactions in Riyadh from the Americans
00:10:16who are really not enthusiastic to help the Saudis, and also from the
00:10:19allies with whom they signed a kind of agreement not long
00:10:22ago, Turkey and... And against this backdrop,
00:10:26we see the Saudis who understand, by the way,
00:10:30that behind all these matters there are
00:10:33Iranian hands trying to pressure them more and more. We
00:10:36see them in a very difficult dilemma, in which they
00:10:40see two things: either to go now again
00:10:44into a very difficult war, or, and this is probably, in my opinion, where
00:10:47the Saudis are heading, to try to advance peace as quickly
00:10:51as possible, which means to try to start closing.
00:11:25were rather than basically focused on pushing the Israelis to confess to two
00:11:28state solution because that was the main saudi demand um
00:11:32that there should be basically a confession to a palestinan state on the lands of
00:11:351967 the Israelis withdraw from the lands
00:11:39of they occupied 1967 onwards and in that
00:11:42sense basically they can sign a peace deal with the so Israel is actually
00:11:46benefiting from what's happening of course Israel benefits from any fight or tension that
00:11:50happens in the region that takes away attention from what it's doing attention
00:11:53military and media wise as well. of course everything that it's doing
00:11:56internally in the levant, especially in the levant, in palestine, in lebanon and in
00:12:00Syria, taking over more land over there, killing people in Lebanon, killing people in
00:12:03Palestine, if you divert the attention towards somewhere
00:12:06else, that benefits it on the media level and social level,
00:12:10if any point there's a fight in this region and there's tension, the Israelis
00:12:14can find a way that they can go in and present themselves as the rescuers, remember
00:12:18that the Israelis have offered, they have offered that they will fight against the
00:12:21Yemenis alongside the Saudis in this war, there were talks about. Is with all
00:12:25the advances that have done so far, isn't worrying
00:12:29Israelis? of course it's worrying, mean look, at the end of the
00:12:32day, if ansar allah continued to have a
00:12:36grip over the straight of babel mandab, this will hamper
00:12:3942 billion dollar worth of maritime trade that the israelis have
00:12:43with the rest of the world through the straight of baby mandab and the red
00:12:46sea, so everything that has to do with the israeli
00:12:49maritime trade that goes towards Africa, the rest of
00:12:53Africa and that goes all the way to what you call the far east as
00:12:56well and to the GCC nations, forget about the land
00:13:00nations, forget about the land trade because they can be targeted over there
00:13:04as well, but their maritime trade is many have been targeting them
00:13:07and not only them but also their allies who use ships through this
00:13:11basically the strate of and see so it actually takes off or lifts of
00:13:15what you call major financial burden if
00:13:18they can eliminate the Yemenis or basically weaken them and they
00:13:22don't want to engage with them so they have somebody else engage with
00:13:55The air force goes out as a result, the air force goes out to a crushing
00:13:58attack, working on all the leaders, it damages their
00:14:02infrastructure, ammunition, weapons,
00:14:04missiles, and causes complete
00:14:07destruction there. Actually, as a result of this
00:14:11story, there was a great shout
00:14:15in the State of Israel, by the Prime Minister,
00:14:18the Chief of Staff, that Hezbollah, we won big, they are off
00:14:21the threat map for many years. Two months later, an agreement. Three
00:14:25months after that, two months, the residents
00:14:28return after a year and a half that they were in happy
00:14:31and shouting homes at last, Mazbala, let's go to what's happening. I'm
00:14:35ethnic, I'm already speechless.
00:14:39Hezbollah and indeed after
00:14:42everyone is happy, I am the only one who says
00:14:46pay attention, they took a hit, they were not defeated, and they can
00:14:49recover. And indeed, in the year
00:14:532000, ah. At the end of
00:14:552024, so convinced that we succeeded
00:14:59and won that the IDF is ready. Where
00:15:03are we today? I'll tell you. I'm done. I'm done. The government
00:15:06decides, in fact, to make an agreement to withdraw
00:15:10from all of Lebanon's territory because they are
00:15:13lost and ineffective and all
00:15:16the residents are happy, but then in 2025,
00:15:19the Iranians rebuild their power and turn them back
00:15:23into capabilities with thousands of missiles. And one more word.
00:15:26In February 2024, in fact,
00:15:29the Roar of the Lion breaks out, and in the Roar of the Lion, they
00:15:33enter and strike a hard blow
00:15:36in Israel. to protect
00:15:47the border
00:15:50And I'm
00:15:54telling you it's only a matter of time before they return to the gray line, the IDF is already talking about it for 4 and a half. What do you want
00:15:57to say? I want to say
00:16:01that the IDF has been in place for years and had
00:16:04a thousand opportunities to enlarge the army.
00:16:37settlements, the rest of them, they found new life
00:16:40elsewhere inside the Israeli entity or outside the Israeli
00:16:44entity, so exactly they moved towards central Israeli entity
00:16:47or basically occupation entity and further down south as
00:16:51well, some of them basically fled abroad and they refuse to come
00:16:53back, there's something else that he had said, the
00:16:57Israelis need this kind these kind of voices to actually
00:17:00push the army toris without withdrawing,
00:17:03they need without withdrawing, they need these voices and
00:17:07then have netanyahu coming out and saying we have cleared the area and now we can withdraw
00:17:10to this place and it's it will show or it will appear as if the
00:17:14Israelis are giving us a concession, they're giving concessions
00:17:18and they're going to withdraw to the gray line despite these voices who are
00:17:21demanding them to stay inside, but there's something also very important, even if you
00:17:25eliminate hizballah and they haven't eliminated hizballah, let's be clear, they
00:17:28haven't, but even if they eliminate let's say hizballah from south lebanon, so long
00:17:32that you have southern Lebanese people with their land
00:17:35occupied, there will always be popular... resistance against them and they
00:17:38will never have what you call comfortable situation inside
00:17:41territories. he also lied about the litani river because litani river goes anywhere
00:17:45between the kilometers from the blue line all the way down to basically 10
00:17:48kilomes from the blue line and the israel is control all of that area today
00:17:52so they are beyond the litani river. now to our social
00:17:56media segment where israely commentators addressed the
00:17:59situation in the gaza
00:18:00strip.
00:18:04netanyahu surrendered to hamas and displayed his weakness.
00:18:08and he did not accomplish any mission. Alex
00:18:11Fred: Ministers and media figures issued ministers and media
00:18:15figures issue that are translated directly into indictments in the
00:18:18hague and campaigns to pursue esrady soldiers
00:18:22internationally. Nahorai Haben, stop the
00:18:26entry of any supplies into Gazza, including food and
00:18:29water.
00:18:32Miss Laila, has Israel succeeded or failed in
00:18:35Gaza? It has. failed on the social
00:18:38and international level and it has succeeded on the the military level,
00:18:42so on the social and international level Israel got exposed for who it truly is,
00:18:46it's true face has been exposed, everybody hates it now across the world, there are
00:18:50lawsuits that are being filed a daily or weekly or monthly basis by Hindra
00:18:54Foundation and other Ingos against Israeli soldiers, officers
00:18:58and officials throughout the world, at the
00:19:01same time there is a growing tension from the what you call
00:19:05useful population across. world including in the US
00:19:08and in Europe, those were the main bases that were supporting the the
00:19:12Israelis in the past, now the youth and the new generation knows what the
00:19:16Israeli occupation is and they're going to vote against anybody who
00:19:20supports it going forward, and this is major blow to the Israelis. on the
00:19:23military level, we we can't kid ourselves, the Israelis are
00:19:27further, what you, they are one of the strongest armies in the region, they
00:19:31are highly what you call armed in terms of
00:19:34technology, in terms of weapons, in terms of basically what you
00:19:37call finance that comes from across the world towards this
00:19:41entity, so they can utilize it to fight what you call a
00:19:44smaller place like Gaza, it's it's it's
00:19:48funny because you have David versus Goliath, but at the same time they
00:19:51couldn't, they couldn't basically what
00:19:55you call take over all of Gaza, however they managed to curb
00:19:59most of Gaza, 70% of Gaza is now, if we had it all
00:20:02together and we sum up these things, has Israel
00:20:05strategically? succeeded or failed so far, I do
00:20:09believe that the Israeli's military wise are succeeding on the ground because they have
00:20:13set plans and they are actually achieving them military
00:20:16wise, social wise and economic wise, socio economic wise, they're failing miserably
00:20:20both locally and internationally, and on the military
00:20:22level, it's very important for people to understand that there is an Israeli occupation on the ground, that
00:20:26they continue to kill Palestinians on the ground, that Hamas actually gave concessions
00:20:30and signed a c fire with them, that they agreed to give their heavy
00:20:34weapons to the Israelis and whatever is left of God.
00:20:38are mainly people who are being oppressed a daily basis by the Israelis, now
00:20:42the only way, and Israel continues to control all the border crossings of for
00:20:45gaza, the only way for us to say that the Israelis have failed miserably in
00:20:49Gaza.
00:21:20The Prime Minister and the security establishment tell us today that since January
00:21:232025, when the Nagel Committee to examine the
00:21:26defense budget submitted its recommendations, no
00:21:29decision was made on building the IDF's force. Not even
00:21:33a single decision was made. The needs of the security establishment are known.
00:21:37They came to the Prime Minister all the time, made decisions on top of
00:21:40decisions, because no decision was made here on a
00:21:43real order of priorities. And that's why we
00:21:47see this situation on the ground. So that's the procedure,
00:21:51but let's go to the essence. A three-year war costs
00:21:55hundreds of billions of shekels, when we are talking about so many
00:21:58fronts where there is no deterrence in any
00:22:01of them, it requires a lot of money.
00:22:04When you add to this the fact that
00:22:07Haredim are allowed to evade service, let's remember that one
00:22:10regular battalion can save between eight
00:22:14and 10 reserve battalions. Only in the current
00:22:17budget are reserve duties paid for.
00:22:50funding basically mercenaries that they use or buying the select
00:22:54weapons they want to buy any point, but then again you have to understand one thing,
00:22:57everything they lose financially, they can actually
00:23:00reimburse it through the american taxpayers
00:23:03money that comes to them, um the American administration that sends the money
00:23:07Europe as well and elsewhere, so that
00:23:10doesn't take much time for them, they need at least six months to to
00:23:14what you call to imburse part of that
00:23:17amount or the hundreds of billions of shekels or what we call
00:23:20basically exactly, and they also you have to
00:23:24understand one thing, the Israelis try to tap into the international market to borrow from the
00:23:27international market by issuing bonds that nobody actually bought into, the
00:23:31American administration bought into it, and they had forced some of their allies to actually buy into it,
00:23:35but they couldn't what you call gather enough money for that, so the Israelis
00:23:39understand that they have to pressure these governments going forward to get that money, they can milk those
00:23:45recent meeting basically
00:23:47earlier this week between the what you call leaders, the military
00:23:51leaders, the army chiefs of six arab countries and their israely
00:23:55counterpart in Europe, so that means any point they're going to
00:23:58focus on having other arab countries finance the the
00:24:02Israeli wars and still trying to find here and well thank
00:24:05you Miss Laila for joining us today, thank you everyone for
