00:00:41of the greatest things about Aruba, and that is the solid
00:00:44foundation of our community here. There are many reasons for
00:00:48couples to take part, and sometimes everything lines up so perfectly
00:00:52that it becomes an absolute no-brainer. So we
00:00:56of came to Aruba a couple of years ago, um, our 20th anniversary is next.
00:01:00last year and I've been looking for places to renew my vow for to renew our vows.
00:01:04We found when we came here a couple years ago we absolutely fell in love with the island
00:01:08and then we saw the spow renewal ceremony and today actually havi
00:01:11our wedding anniversary so our 19-year anniversary happy anniversary thank you

00:01:15it just it all worked out perfectly. For any couple who wants a stress-free

00:01:30want to do something special for our anniversaries, but it's just nice to have like a place to go
00:01:34away and just have like a little celebration, like we've already done the big
00:01:37wedding and we just want to do some, we just want to do something fun
00:01:41and we're laid back. this beautiful day with aruba as the
00:01:45backdrop is a great reminder that the island is not only perfect for
00:01:49renewing your vows, but for all kinds of romantic holidays and

00:02:36just loving love, i'm a a lovable person, i'm a
00:02:40hugger, and so i just love love, so every
00:02:44time that i have to do either a wedding or a v renewal, and
00:02:48i need to write the script, it it touches the
00:02:51deep part of me, it goes to my core, and for that
00:02:55you know i'm grateful that i can be one to be able to do this for
00:02:59the... To all the couples who renewed their vows
00:03:03on the island during Aruba I do 2026, darlene has
00:03:07message for you. My
00:03:11main message to them would be to always listen
00:03:15each other, communicate with each other,
00:03:18because sometimes
00:03:19you know words fall through the cracks, but not to
00:03:23get um, you're not too caught up into what is
00:03:26happening, but listen each other and be there for. each

00:04:32Okay, when I first approached the scots for an interview, I thought they were just your
00:04:36average tourist couple taking part in Aruba I do, but believe it
00:04:40or not, Kenneth has ties that run deep within the island's tourism
00:04:43development, but you know the thing is is that this is
00:04:47home to me, I grew up here, left here
00:04:5162 years ago, and now we're
00:04:55back, now of course during our marriage I told her all kinds
00:04:59of things that... happened in Aruba, so she said,
00:05:03you're going to take me there and show me. how many years did you
00:05:07live here for? uh, well, was in my
00:05:1020s, yeah. That's amazing, so you used
00:05:14to be resident local here, and oh yeah, oh yeah, my dad was in
00:05:17politics over here, as matter of fact, Geo Scott, he he
00:05:21built basiruti when he was still here,
00:05:25and was one the companies that built the Aruba
00:05:29Caribbean hotel, and way in the beginning, when it was the only
00:05:33hotel, and when the police organization, the
00:05:36pavo was on the other side, and
00:05:39it's it is awesome. to be
00:05:42back. According to Ken, his father, Gerald Scott
00:05:46has a helping hand in Basiruti, the first tourist hotel on
00:05:50Palm beach, when it opened in 1957. It had
00:05:54just 15 rooms. Ken's father was later involved in developing
00:05:58the Aruba Caribbean hotel, which opened in 1959 as the
00:06:01island's first luxury resort, and still stands today
00:06:05as the Hilton Aruba. Now Ken is back to renew
00:06:09his vows, a truly full circle moment. "you know,
00:06:13it fits, it kind of fits into the the the
00:06:17way my life has been. I left here, became, I
00:06:21became pilot in the US Army for 12 years and and
00:06:25after that I was vice president of a multi-billion dollar
00:06:28company, and then I met
00:06:31her. You forgot to throw in that you served in
00:06:35Vietnam? Yeah, yeah, I was in Vietnam. Thank you for your
00:06:39services, left my air there,
00:06:41oh no, Rosemary thinks Aruba's vow renewal is
00:06:45wonderful idea. I think it's a wonderful
00:06:48idea. Uh, people are usually
00:06:52in the romantic mode when they come here and I
00:06:56think it's just a culmination. Aside from the
00:07:00romance, it seems as though plenty of fun anecdotes come
00:07:03out of this vow renewal ceremony. Well, you know, it was
00:07:07total surprise to me that it was and it was just a great
00:07:10idea. and uh, oh, I pronounced it
00:07:14wrong a couple of times, you can tell them,
00:07:18well, I don't remember how to tell it, it was like, at first he said it was like
00:07:23a bow

00:08:16This is Stephanie, she also goes by nini, and this is Stephanie's
00:08:20family. The family of three lives in Aruba and they may be more grateful
00:08:24than anyone else to be here at Aruba I do
00:08:272026, renewing their vows, because just two
00:08:31days before the ceremony, they were in Medy in Colombia for
00:08:34vacation, when a 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck the
00:08:38country's western region. Before we get into that, let's hear
00:08:42a bit their story, we've been together since
00:08:452008, we married in
00:08:482010, we renewed our first
00:08:51fs in 2023 and now we're back here
00:08:55today, that's right, this isn't the family's first v renewal with aruba
00:08:59Torsm authorities, aruba Ido, they took part just three years
00:09:03ago when it was hosted on Eagle Beach, their daughter was much
00:09:07younger then and she had told her parents she was sad she missed their
00:09:10wedding, this was a one wonderful way to include her, we
00:09:14came out of very difficult year, we've lost some
00:09:18uh their loved ones close to our our heart, and then we
00:09:22decided that would be the year that we wanted to celebrate life and our love
00:09:25again, and also my daughter said to me, yeah, didn't, I wasn't there
00:09:29the first time, I said, that's correct, you weren't even born, so we did
00:09:33it especially for her so she could witness, her parents
00:09:37marry again, according to nini, they love being able to
00:09:41celebrate their love and commitment to... another right here at
00:09:44home,
00:09:48so this is my daughter, ojenai and my husband
00:09:52rol, and we love uh aruba I do so much
00:09:56because it's it's giving you opportunity to celebrate love again,
00:10:00and I think it's so awesome that you can do it here in this
00:10:04beautiful location at our own home here on the
00:10:08island, few
00:10:11minutes after the... interview, ninny came to find me a ruba I
00:10:15do to tell me why they are more grateful than ever to be
00:10:19standing here today renewing their vows. two days ago we were in
00:10:23Colombia Meding and we were... were witnessing the earthquake
00:10:26because we were there a family holiday and we were in the hotel on the
00:10:3020th floor when the earthquake happened. On August 10th,
00:10:342026, devastating 7.4 magnitude earthquake caused
00:10:38significant damage across Western Columbia with more than
00:10:42100 people killed and widespread destruction. Ninnie and
00:10:46her family were in Metaying enjoying summer vacation where the earthquake
00:10:50was felt strongly. After that experience, celebrating
00:10:53life took a a whole new meaning for them,
00:10:57so I'm so happy that we're here today alive,
00:11:01celebrating love and second chances. It was a frightening experience for the
00:11:05family of three, unlike anything they had ever gone through
00:11:09before, but when the earthquake happened, it was just like we went
00:11:12into survival mode, you just you don't think, you just want to get out
00:11:16and stay alive, so when I resaw my daughter again
00:11:20outside the hotel, I was just so overwhelmed with
00:11:24happiness. just hawked her endlessly, ninny says that as
00:11:27scary as the situation on their colombian vacation was, it
00:11:31brought new light to life in general and a deeper
00:11:35appreciation for everything that life has to offer, and one of
00:11:39those things being not to take friends and family for
00:11:42granted, because you never know what tomorrow will
00:11:45bring, so I think it's very important to celebrate every day,
00:11:49every single moment and just be very um
00:11:53aware of your friends and and the love that you share and that you are able
00:11:57even see new day. Ninte and her husband already renewed their
00:12:01vows once with Arubai do in 2023 and they had
00:12:04registered for Aruba Iido 2026. well before they
00:12:08experienced the earthquake in Colombia first hand. They were
00:12:12already prepared to commit to one another, but facing
00:12:16that dangerous situation together only deep in their bond and their
00:12:20devotion. All right, for the
00:12:24next picture. "the way that my husband protected us
00:12:27and like his little family just means so much to
00:12:30me and I think it makes it even extra special today that I
00:12:34can just renew my vows and just plead to him that
00:12:38we will always be together no matter what. I want to personally thank
