00:02:19of giving a speech most likely on Tuesday uh at
00:02:22the UN General
00:02:23of Assemble, this is when all the leaders from the 193
00:02:27member states
00:02:28of the UN come and make their... speeches, they talk about what the problems they
00:02:32believe there are in the world, how they should be tackled and what should be
00:02:36done generally.
00:02:37a um, we're not clear at the moment what the meetings are going to be for the Turkish
00:02:41president, apart from one, which seems pretty
00:02:44in likely, that's Donald Trump, the US president, the US ambassador to
00:02:48Turkey has said that that is most likely going to happen while the two leaders
00:02:52are in New York this coming week, but no set date and no set
00:02:56time at the
00:02:57in moment, but likely some other meetings as well with other... leaders, which are likely to
00:03:01be announced as we progress over the next couple of days or

00:03:32the US is planning for another round of
00:03:35in attacks after President Donald Trump said he will be making a big
00:03:38decision
00:03:39of in of the coming days. Iran has vowed to retaliate against any
00:03:43US attack by targeting US bases and interest in the
00:03:46region. On the diplomatic side, Iranian officials have
00:03:49delivered to Washington

00:03:53in negotiations. Trump may take up the Iranian proposal when he meets golf leaders next

00:07:07moment in hand, US, of course, I mean the Republicans

00:07:15opposition in US, we have inflation, we have

00:15:50central election commission which suggest that these parliamentary elections have
00:15:54actually exceeded the turnout from the
00:15:58previous years. more than 56% of Russians showed up at the
00:16:02polen stations of cost their ballet online. this is the
00:16:05highest number uh then in 2021, in
00:16:082016, 203 or
00:16:111993, so that does show a lot

00:18:46right ADF party surged to around 37%, there it is the
00:18:50second state any far right party has
00:18:53ranked on top of first since World
00:18:57War II. And in the key state of Berlin, the ruling
00:19:01CDU was unseated by Socialist De Linker Party, which gained
00:19:05around a quarter the votes, AFD. also managed to make
00:19:08gains, the chancellor has called the results
00:19:11disastrous.
00:19:15we cannot sugar coat the results in Macklinburg Warren, it's a
00:19:19disaster. the CDU fought hard, but in the end the CDU
00:19:23was ground down in the polarizing showdown between the SPD and the
00:19:26AFD. the reforms have to come, of course, this puts
00:19:30all of us a difficult situation, but I'm taking on this
00:19:34responsibility because I want to move our country forward.
00:19:40is a professor of European studies at Stanford University in Berlin, he
00:19:43believes that Chancellor Mets will withstand this storm because not
00:19:47all of Germany's problems are
00:19:49homegrown. On the one
00:19:52hand, any government, no matter if it's run by maths or

00:20:21like high energy prices due to Russian's full-scale invasion in
00:20:25Ukraine or what is happening in Iran, so lot of
00:20:29it isn't homemade. if it would be so simple by
00:20:32replacing one head by another, and then Germany would
00:20:36sail in to a brighter future, then we could do
00:20:40it, but we live a situation in which the
00:20:43problems don't go away by simply replacing a person who
00:20:47potentially communicates better. has also lot to blame
00:20:51him for why he has such low popularity
00:20:55rates, but I don't personally think that a, there
00:20:59is candidate who currently would want to take his
00:21:02job, because as I said, it is not a
00:21:06mission in which you gain much, and on the other
00:21:09hand, it will be complicated to find enough support within
00:21:13a coalition, and Germany doesn't have majority voting
00:21:16system, so it's not like a presidential system that... winner takes it
00:21:20all, you need to coordinate conflicting positions, and
00:21:24in
00:21:25the end you need a compromise candidate, and I currently don't see
00:21:28anyone doing it, so even if the result
00:21:32today will not be great for the CDU, it will certainly
00:21:36not be as devastating as two weeks ago
00:21:40in another part of East Germany. Mads will stay in
00:21:43office, I usually don't make bold forecast, but in this
00:21:47case I think we won't see different chapter. in the coming weeks

00:21:58Alico Dangote is seeking to raise 1.6 billion US
00:22:01dollars in the continent's biggest initial public offering and it's already
00:22:05drawing huge interest.
00:22:08has story: a chance to own a
00:22:12piece of one of Africa's biggest businesses, shares in
00:22:16Alico, Dangode's giant oil refinery.
00:22:20went on sale, giving Nigerians a stake a
00:22:24business that has already transformed the country's fuel
00:22:27market. now we are owning back our Nigerian oil,
00:22:31so I believe the group, investing in that group is lifetime
00:22:34opportunity, being imagine being a part owner of
00:22:38something that is Nigerian that will grow, the
00:22:41$1.6 billion chair sale is the
00:22:45largest initial public offering in the African continent
00:22:49and in the history. of Nigeria, it's also country's first
00:22:53fully digital IPO aimed at retail
00:22:55investors. Several investment apps crashed
00:22:59as people tried to buy a minimum of 10 shares
00:23:03costing around $40. By the end of day one we
00:23:07had cleared around 70% the backlog and by the start of business on
00:23:11day two we had cleared 100% the backlog and
00:23:15now we you know are good to go, we've increased our
00:23:18capacity just. by massive orders of
00:23:22magnitude. Africa's richest man says the aim is to make
00:23:26ownership accessible to ordinary Nigerians. Now

00:23:52helping the country that once relied heavily on imports to
00:23:56produce more of its own. It can process 70000
00:23:59barrels of oil a day, with Dangode planning to more than
00:24:03double that to 1.4 million barrels a day by
00:24:072029. The company also plans to launch a
00:24:10massive refinery plant of Kenya's coast linking it to
00:24:14the East African market, but despite the excitement,
00:24:18investing is still... out of reach for many
00:24:21Nigerians, we are trying to survive, it's a
00:24:25good development, but it's not for for the
00:24:28poor, for poor people like us, but if you have money you can
00:24:32invest in it, but for we we are trying to
00:24:35survive, keep it going, the IPO values the
00:24:39refinery at around $49 billion dollars, more than
00:24:43twice what it cost to build, while Dangode is still set
00:24:47to control 87% the company. for investors
00:24:50buying now, the real question is if Tangode can
00:24:54deliver on his company's share
00:25:02across Africa still rely on wood and charcoal
00:25:05exposing them to many health risks. But a Nairobi based company is
00:25:09using carbon finance to change all of that. Hope Kirubi

00:26:04manufacturers like barn use carbon finance and pay
00:26:08as you go plans to heavily subsidized upfront retail
00:26:12costs. the Nairobi based company says it
00:26:16has distributed more than 7.3 million stoves
00:26:20across 11 African countries, built in
00:26:24computer chips, track cooking data in real time through
00:26:27GSM, allowing the company to sell verified
00:26:31carbon credit to international investors to fund the
00:26:35discount. only way that clean cooking is going to
00:26:39scale on the continent is through carbon project
00:26:43finance and so it's a great model, governments can earn
00:26:47revenue from it, we earn revenue, customers get an
00:26:50amazing product, they would never get unless they had that subsidy that's
00:26:54brought by carbon project finance. in june, africa
00:26:58secured $900 million in clean cooking
00:27:02financial. commitments according to the international
00:27:05energy agency, but critics argue that
00:27:09building an entire green energy transition on volatile
00:27:13carbon markets poses a massive risk for the
00:27:16continent. if we depend holy on
00:27:20carbon credits to support the transition, it will be
00:27:24extremely slow and it will not happen at the pace that
00:27:28we need it. the other issue for carbon market
00:27:31is before. you can trade on the carbon market, you need to
00:27:35build the asset, back at Mary's home, her old
00:27:38charcoal stove sits outside next to piles of
00:27:42fuel still used by her neighbors, and while
00:27:46policy experts debate on the future of carbon
