00:01:22Today, wave of rehabilitation, reconstruction and
00:01:26investment is reshaping IMO's healthcare landscape and one of
00:01:30so transformation is
00:01:31of coming to life at the specialist hospital Umoguma
00:01:34Owere West Local Government Area. The
00:01:37building, formerly the Umuguma General
00:01:41of Hospital, is now being remolded into a facility as good as
00:01:44new. Curious to witness this transformation first
00:01:47hand, I made my way to the specialist hospital.
00:01:51waiting to receive me was the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Chima
00:01:55Okbaraji, who led me through facility where almost
00:01:58every corner tells story of change, construction is still very
00:02:02much in progress, but this is far more than
00:02:05a renovation project.
00:02:07of what was once a general hospital building is steadily taking shape as a
00:02:11specialist medical institution, designed to provide advanced
00:02:15healthcare, supported by modern
00:02:19in of infrastructure, specialized departments and cotton edge technology, not just the renovation
00:02:22of the specialist hospital, but
00:02:26a construction of new a brand. new
00:02:30facility with installation of a
00:02:32me state
00:02:32of the art medical equipment that meet international
00:02:35standard, we also
00:02:39have
00:02:39a diagnosis center, yes
00:02:43that will have
00:02:46of MRI, ct scan,
00:02:49mammogram, x-rays and the all
00:02:53of diagnostic equipment very modern and
00:02:56standard,

00:08:21earlier it featured innovation civil works and
00:08:25then equipment installation now all the
00:08:29department generally were renovated and

00:08:36the surgical work features
00:08:40four different theaters.

00:09:24well, more importantly uh we have
00:09:28the uh the
00:09:32gas plant, the gas plant which is an essential part
00:09:35the hospital uh facility in
00:09:38which uh each the necessary.
00:09:43were uh equipped with medical gas
00:09:46facility, the oxygen, the valuum as well
00:09:50as the medical gas, medical
00:09:52year itself, we have the icu, that is

00:10:47ago from foundation up to this point, now it

00:12:48i saw things that
00:12:52distinguished my governor. was doing,
00:12:56he didn't need to tell anything anymore, so at
00:13:00the end of it he asked me if I
00:13:04could develop what I do hearingly must say
00:13:07it, and I said yes, I'll do it,
00:13:11and everything he promised, he
00:13:15delivered it, and he personally made
00:13:18sure that I didn't have any complaint,
00:13:22and I can tell you that the emo robotic center. uh
00:13:26is modeled after the similar

00:16:10the scenes, the sound of construction form part the story,
00:16:13wheel loaders transported crush stones and construction materials
00:16:17to level the ground in preparation for additional
00:16:21structure, helipad. The facility is intended
00:16:24to support faster emergency transfers and improve
00:16:28response capability for critically ill patients requiring urgent
00:16:32specialist attention. I'm standing right now at the back
00:16:35the emostate special. hospitals
00:16:39robotic and oncology center and the governor of Himo
00:16:42state plans to build ellipat
00:16:46behind the center, this is because this
00:16:50center is projected to
00:16:53bring in foreign experts led
00:16:57by professor uh
00:17:01is a world class robotic surgeon based in the United
00:17:04Kingdom, there would be many people it
00:17:08is expected from different parts of Nigeria and some
00:17:12of those people will need emergency
00:17:15attention and that is why early pad
00:17:19is going to be built at the back of this robotic
00:17:23center so that those who need emergency
00:17:26care can be brought to the center
00:17:30uh via by air that is through the helicopters.
00:17:34it is clear that this project represents new model. for specialist health care
00:17:38infrastructure, where advanced technology, skill professionals
00:17:42and modern facilities come together under one roof. healthcare
00:17:46transformation is not confined to one location. across imos
00:17:49state, different hospitals are contributing their own chapters to much
00:17:53larger story. my next stop,
00:17:57omuma in oru is local government area, where
00:18:01another remarkable transformation is going on, at the
00:18:05Michael Uzodima Memorial Hospital in omoma named
00:18:09after governor hope usodima's late father. the hospital represent
00:18:13another important chapter in the state's brother effort to rebuild public health
00:18:17care infrastructure. while every facility
00:18:20tells his own story, they are all connected by one
00:18:24shared vision, creating hospitals that are better equipped to
00:18:28meet the health care needs or the people they serve. waiting to
00:18:32receive me was chief medical director, Dr. Anthony
00:18:35Azuwenye who guided me, through the hospital and explain the
00:18:39remarkable changes taking place across the facility. as we

00:25:44robotic center in Nigeria, and the governor
00:25:48as pared no effort. to bring in some the best

00:25:56this robotic center, but for the
00:26:00hospital in its entireity. and the governor has
00:26:04also shown tremendous focus on
00:26:07training and retraining of
00:26:11hospital workers so that they can
00:26:14deliver optimum service
00:26:18for the good people of hemost states and as the CMD told
00:26:22me the health insurance that is already in
00:26:25place will ensure that health
00:26:29care is wholesome is
00:26:32accessible, is affordable and qualitative in
00:26:36emo
00:26:36state.

00:27:02villages, brave men and women stand watch so that Nigeria can
