00:01:2257 years touching across some
00:01:25of the most fundamental aspects pertaining to both countries
00:01:29which includes economy and trades, educations,
00:01:32military and defense as well as tourism, and we are here
00:01:36today to explore more ways to further nurture and
00:01:40foster these relations and also see it grow
00:01:43and flourish even more in the coming future, and to
00:01:47get us up to speed with these matters, I am extremely
00:01:51honored to be
00:01:52of joined in this conversations by the ambassador
00:01:55of the Republic of Indonesia to Singapore, join me all the way

00:02:49of the most significant highlights of our relations and aspects

00:02:57Indonesia and Singapore. if

00:03:10relationship and at that
00:03:13time we know
00:03:15that raise the
00:03:19untrust between the two countries, but like

00:03:35mentioned that Indonesia is
00:03:38implementing that we call we call a good
00:03:42neighbor policy and Indonesia in singapore is trying
00:03:45to revive and to
00:03:49to to build the
00:03:53good relationship between the two countries and now i
00:03:56think the the the the
00:04:00significant
00:04:03relationship between the two country and improving very
00:04:07well and
00:04:08a now trust and confidence between the two countries
00:04:11also arise, so for
00:04:15examples in inaugurated of
00:04:20of president ones
00:04:21of the
00:04:22of leaders to attend the
00:04:26of of inauguration and next week the prime minister song also

00:04:32government who have a state

00:05:11of the statistics for. the first quarter of 2024 alone, we are touching nearly
00:05:159 billion US dollars worth of investments from Singapore
00:05:19into Indonesia, second quarter, nearly 5 billion US dollars,
00:05:23which is a 22. something percent rise
00:05:26year
00:05:27on year on that alone, signifying a very
00:05:31strong economic foundations between the two countries and notably
00:05:34being the biggest investors into Indonesia, so what more can you tell
00:05:38us in details about these numbers, mr ambassador?
00:05:43Yes, Rahmat, I think Singapore
00:05:46is aware that Indonesia is a
00:05:50big country and very potential, so that's why in the
00:05:53last 10 years Singapore become the biggest investor for
00:05:57Indonesia, and for this year until the third
00:06:01quarter, I think the number the investment from Singapore
00:06:04to Indonesia have
00:06:07around more than 15 billion US
00:06:10dollar, so total. last 10 years
00:06:14in Singapore investment to Indonesia is more than
00:06:1875 billion US dollar yeah
00:06:20so uh I think this is the
00:06:24the
00:06:24the signal that Indonesia is
00:06:28very attractive place for the Singapore businesses
00:06:32so that's why so many Singapore businesses now
00:06:35also come to Indonesia and trying to
00:06:39find the the the opportunity.
00:06:43Next week I will be
00:06:45accompanied the Malay Singapore
00:06:48association businesses Association to visit
00:06:52Indonesia and to trying to find the opportunity of
00:06:55Indonesia
00:06:57inter balance between ambassador being the largest investors
00:07:01into Indonesia walk us through some the biggest
00:07:05aspects sectors that Singapore is highly keen
00:07:09to interest in our country.
00:07:13at the moment i think the green
00:07:16energy is one the very
00:07:20interested by singapore businesses so last
00:07:23i
00:07:24think this year when we have
00:07:28the forum in jakarta Indonesia and singapore have
00:07:31agreed Indonesia especially agreed to
00:07:35export 4 gigawatt green energy to
00:07:38singapore so this is one area that
00:07:43why Singapore business is
00:07:47very attractive to Indonesia, the second one in the
00:07:50manufacturing, so Singapore, as we know,
00:07:54have only granted by the President Yokovi
00:07:57in 2016 that we have
00:08:01a special industrial park dedicated for
00:08:04Singapore in Kandal, and now
00:08:08around 20 hectares have already fully with
00:08:12the investment from Singapore and that's why the government
00:08:16local government in Kandal is trying to edit around
00:08:202000 hectares more to attract
00:08:24investment in Singapore, but not only in
00:08:26Kandal,
00:08:28in many in many area of Indonesia, singapore business is
00:08:32attract and willing to
00:08:36invest Indonesia, I think this morning for the
00:08:39example the Singapore ambassador. Indonesia
00:08:43visited Grasik with the
00:08:47sample to look the
00:08:49opportunity that Singapore businesses can be
00:08:53infected in in East Java, so I
00:08:57think still many area that the Singapore interested
00:09:00including in Halal product and
00:09:04also for the SMPs Halal industry and tourisms are
00:09:08indeed on the rise as of this moment Mr. Ambassador.
00:09:12Your excellency, before we close this very particular segment, I'd like to
00:09:16get your take on the new capital of Santara, which
00:09:20is a carry over from our previous administrations president
00:09:23jokodo to now a president, a current president
00:09:27president, meaning that I like to get your
00:09:31insights as whether or not the investments,
00:09:34some portions or rather the investments from Singapore will be
00:09:38projected towards the ongoing projects the new capital of Indonesia.
00:09:43will that be something that prime minister Lawrence will be put on
00:09:47the table later on during his state visit to the country in your
00:09:50opinion? two years
00:09:53ago, Indonesia singapore is trying to
00:09:56invite the Singapore businesses
00:10:00to visited new
00:10:02capital, we want to give it the
00:10:06opportunity for Singapore businesses to seeing
00:10:09directly what was happened in the new capital. seeing is
00:10:13believing and around 104 singapore
00:10:17business
00:10:21uh join with us uh when?
00:10:25through new capital and after the
00:10:29visit around 24 letter of intent have for
00:10:33the offer by singapore businesses to
00:10:35authority the new
00:10:38capital and until now they are still
00:10:41waiting reply from the authority
00:10:45the capital because they have still a
00:10:49problem with the land acquisition for
00:10:52example one singapore company
00:10:56join with the PLN, they are have already
00:10:59developed 5 megawatt
00:11:03solar panel in new capital, as we
00:11:07know that the new capital is will
00:11:09be model the green city of
00:11:12Indonesia and all the energy is must be coming
00:11:16from the green energy, the problem now is
00:11:20facing is how the land acquisition until now the
00:11:24authority. cannot be sure how
00:11:27sand can use the land in the new capital, so
00:11:31I think the problem is not coming from the investor, the
00:11:35problem is in our a problem, especially in the
00:11:38authority of new capital, how they can be
00:11:41settle the the the main problem especially for
00:11:45the land acquisition in new capital, that's
00:11:49certainly all the details that we need to iron out in

00:26:02Indonesia to singapore, his excellency Suryo Pratomo joining

00:26:10much for still being with us for this conversations. We're now moving
00:26:14to our next segment the special dialogue. I like to give
00:26:18insights a very crucial matter pertaining to
00:26:21the borders of Indonesia and Singapore,
00:26:25particularly the air space. As we know
00:26:27you mentioned also very briefly at the beginning that the
00:26:30initial period of our relations. quite tense between Indonesia and Singapore and
00:26:34back in 1995 uh the flight information
00:26:38region offer on above two very important
00:26:42outer islands of Indonesia near sumatra has belong
00:26:46to Singapore and this year March
00:26:492024 mark such a milestone went the
00:26:53realignment the air space the
00:26:57fur region back to Jakarta has been
00:27:01signed what more can you tell us about these achievements that have been
00:27:04long negotiated by both countries?
00:27:08yes, i think we have
00:27:12three crucial agreement that have
00:27:15already stopped around 17
00:27:18years since 2007. the
00:27:22first one is about the applied information region, the second one is
00:27:26the defense cooperation agreement and the third one is extradition
00:27:30treaty and ' we also
00:27:33i happy that in 2022
00:27:37after we passing the very
00:27:41crucial moment for the pandemic covid-19, i think the two
00:27:45leaders have agreed to to to
00:27:49to sign to in the agreement for the
00:27:52three crucial issues and
00:27:56last year or mean this year
00:27:592024 the parliament we
00:28:02ratify and all the three agreement is
00:28:06fully implemented
00:28:08and for the
00:28:12fear the flight information agent the two countries is
00:28:16agreed espcially for the the the
00:28:19the area for landing and for chi we are
00:28:23not together to to control
00:28:27so that why
00:28:27the 10 Indonesian
00:28:29officer since march.
00:28:332024 now they
00:28:36are post in the changi air traffic
00:28:40control and they can
00:28:43also work together with the Singapore
00:28:46officer to control how the
00:28:50traffic for landing and take off around
00:28:53Changi and Singapore have already agreed
00:28:56to uh give it back
00:29:00all the area surrounding the nafuna so that's
00:29:04why
00:29:05for the soverenty now Indonesia
00:29:08have get all the things that we are
00:29:11need to implementing the unclos
00:29:151982 so this is very significant for
00:29:18for Indonesia for the CA also the two countries
00:29:22now working together in military to how
00:29:26implement the specially training area especially
00:29:30in once again in Natuna and because the
00:29:33areas surrounding the natuna now have be totally changed and
00:29:37that's why on July this year the two
00:29:41officer from the ministry of defense
00:29:44forces they are sitting together and working how
00:29:48to uh once again to fix the area
00:29:52for the training ground for the Singapore and for extra
00:29:55disciplity now we are working together how
00:29:59implement specially uh
00:30:03what that Indonesia need for the
00:30:06fugitive to probably stay in
00:30:09Singapore, so I think with the two three
00:30:13agreement at the moment we don't have
00:30:16any barrier how to improve
00:30:19our relationship between the two countries.
00:30:23well ambassador tommy on the note the defense
00:30:27cooperations, just september this years another
00:30:31sessions of joint. military drill took place between Indonesia and
00:30:34Singapore and this is something that has become a traditions for over 36
00:30:38years between Indonesia and Singapore's in terms
00:30:42of sharing practices in military and also
00:30:46defense. what can you tell us about uh
00:30:50the adoption of military technologies between India and Singapore,
00:30:53particularly the two regions contributions towards the
00:30:57regional peace as we're now entering peer.
