What We Collect

Apprised.news collects minimal data required to operate the service:

Server logs: IP address, request URL, user agent, and timestamp are logged by our hosting provider (Netlify) for security and abuse prevention. These are retained for 30 days.
Local storage: Your reading preferences and view state are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.
Account data (future): When authentication is activated, we will collect the email address and name you provide during signup. OAuth providers (Google, GitHub) share your name and email per their own privacy policies.

Analytics

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site. Clarity collects usage data such as pages visited, clicks, scrolls, and session duration. Clarity does not collect personal information that directly identifies you. Data is processed by Microsoft under their privacy statement. You can opt out of Clarity tracking by enabling "Do Not Track" in your browser or using a content blocker.

No advertising trackers or remarketing tags
No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
No sale of data to third parties, ever

Cookies

Microsoft Clarity sets first-party cookies to track session activity. No advertising or remarketing cookies are used. See our Cookie Policy for details. Authentication, when activated, will use session tokens stored in local storage or HTTP-only cookies for security.

Third-Party Services

Netlify: Hosting and serverless functions. Subject to Netlify's privacy policy.
Microsoft Clarity: Session analytics for usability improvement. Subject to Microsoft's privacy statement.
Corvus Intel: Our news corpus source. No user data is shared with Corvus Intel. The integration is server-to-server.
Anthropic: AI brief generation. News corpus (not user data) is sent to the Anthropic API for processing. Subject to Anthropic's privacy policy.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data, the practical effect is:

Clear your browser's local storage to remove all client-side data
Contact us to request deletion of any server-side data associated with your IP or account
