What We Collect

Apprised.news collects minimal data required to operate the service:

Analytics

We run one first-party measurement script, /js/track.js, which sends a small beacon to our own /api/track endpoint. It records only coarse, non-identifying fields: the page path, the channel you arrived through, the hostname of the referring site, and a bucketed scroll depth. It sets no cookies, does no fingerprinting, and the server never stores your IP address, your user agent or your email against it. One beacon is sent per page view, and one when a signup form submits successfully.

There is no Google Analytics, no Tag Manager, no advertising pixel and no session recording on this site.

Correction, September 2026: an earlier version of this page said we used Microsoft Clarity. That was wrong. The Clarity loader was removed on 7 August 2026, and before that it had never functioned at all — our Content Security Policy blocked the domain it loads its payload from, so it collected nothing. We have removed the claim rather than the other way round.

What We Do Not Collect

Cookies

We set no cookies of our own. Our own analytics beacon does not use them, and there are no advertising or remarketing cookies on this site.

Pages that offer a subscription load Google’s Subscribe with Google script from news.google.com. Google may set its own cookies through it, under Google’s privacy policy rather than ours. Our Cookie Policy covers this in more detail.

Authentication, when it is activated, will use session tokens in local storage or HTTP-only cookies for security.

Third-Party Services

Your Privacy Rights Under Specific Laws

We would rather tell you where you actually stand than imply a compliance department that does not exist behind a small publisher.

California (CCPA and CPRA). These apply to businesses well above this one’s size, so as written they do not cover us. We will still honour a California resident’s request to know, delete or correct. We do not sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to submit a Do Not Sell or Share request about.

Europe and the United Kingdom (GDPR and UK GDPR). If you are in the EU or the UK you can ask us for access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of anything we hold, or object to our use of it. Because we hold almost nothing about individual readers, most such requests are answered by telling you exactly that. Where we do process data, the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating and measuring a news site.

Children (COPPA). This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Use privacy@apprised.news for any of the above.

Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal data, the practical effect is:
