What We Collect
Apprised.news collects minimal data required to operate the service:
- Server logs: IP address, request URL, user agent, and timestamp are logged by our hosting provider (Netlify) for security and abuse prevention. These are retained for 30 days.
- Local storage: Your reading preferences and view state are stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.
- Account data (future): When authentication is activated, we will collect the email address and name you provide during signup. OAuth providers (Google, GitHub) share your name and email per their own privacy policies.
What We Do Not Collect
- No third-party analytics scripts (no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels)
- No advertising trackers or remarketing tags
- No fingerprinting or cross-site tracking
- No sale of data to third parties, ever
Cookies
We do not set any cookies. Authentication, when activated, will use session tokens stored in local storage or HTTP-only cookies for security.
